Organizing a birthday trip
activity title: Organizing a birthday trip
duration and time: December 30th, 2024
type of activity: creativity, activity
Activity description: Organizing the trip to celebrate my friend's 18th birthday.
Learning outcomes:
Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Reflection: For my dear friend’s 18th birthday present, I decided to surprise her with a day trip to Zagreb. I organized everything so that she could just relax and enjoy the time spent in Zagreb. Since I know that she is a big fan of music, our first stop was a record shop where we bought a record and a CD. The rest of the day we spent shopping, eating delicious food and exploring Upper Town. Everything was even more magical because we went to the Advent in the evening. This was a trip to remember and, on our way back, we immediately started planning our next trip together.

˚⋆୨୧˚School trip to Zagreb˚୨୧⋆˚
┊🎄┊Activity title: Visiting and exploring Zagreb in winter-time
┊🎄┊Duration: whole day on December 9th
┊🎄┊Type of activity: creativity and activity
˚⋆୨୧˚Activity description
╰┈➤ On Saturday, December 9th, my classmates and I took a trip to Zagreb with our geography teacher. We had left Banja Luka at 7am and traveled for 3h which was not that long. As responsible IB students that we are, Andrea, who basically became my bus-partner by now, and I spent those 3h doing homework.
╰┈➤ When we arrived, we took a 1-and-a-half-hour walking tour of the city; we visited: the city center, The Ban Jelačić Square, a cathedral, the national theater, and the main reason we decided to took this trip - the Advent. At noon, we went to Etnographic museum of Zagreb and took a guided tour of it.
we left our note there 😊
╰┈➤ After the tour, our teachers gave us 5h of free time, which we used entirely. We walked around the advent, went to bookstores and bought gifts, ate sushi, listened to music which was playing in bars in almost every street, bought chestnuts and of course, fritule (fritters).
╰┈➤ Even though it was very cold, as you can see by our outfits, we were having such a great time that we could not even think about the weather. Despite that we made 18 000 steps walking around the city without the map, we were not tired at all. We were singing in the bus for the whole time on our way back to Banjaluka, playing games and having the best time.
And for the end, once again, pictures of me and Andrea sleeping in very weird poses.
˚⋆୨୧˚Learning outcomes
┊🎄┊Increased your awareness of your own strengths and areas for growth
┊🎄┊Undertaken new challenges
┊🎄┊Planned and initiated activities
┊🎄┊Worked collaboratively with others
˚⋆୨୧˚ Reflection
╰┈➤We had a wonderful time visiting Zagreb, even though most of us had already been there at least once. Just by the length of this blog and number of pictures we took, you could assume that this was one of our favorite activities in this school year so far. It was nice exploring parts of city that you would not normally go to see with your family, like Ethnographic museum, so i surely can confirm that i have learned a few new things about Zagreb, like their traditions and historical aspects. I also have gotten closer with my classmates, had a great time and enjoyed the holiday season with them.

Activity : Connecting with international IB community
Activity title: Establishing connections with IB students from Zagreb
Type of activity: creativity
Duration: short term, 12h
Date of start: 30.11.2022
Learning outcomes:
Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth.
Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.
Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.
Description:
Me and my classmates travelled to Zagreb, a capital of a neighbouring country Croatia, to visit an IB school and its students. The goal was exchanging information and experiences and creating opportunities for potential projects together.
Reflection:
This was a one day activity, but the amount of experience we gained reflects a much longer trip. The trip draining, mostly because of long travelling by bus to Zagreb, but also very rewarding. I learned to get accustomed to longer trips. I formed friendships with IB students from another country, bonding over our similarities and celebrating our differences. We presented the CAS achievements of our school’s IB students, while they presented theirs. By comparing their and our achievements during the school year (in a healthy way), I realised some issues with my activities and also gained motivation and ideas for further projects. The trip was during the Advent in Zagreb, internationally famous event, so we didn’t miss the chance to experience it’s charm. One thing I disliked was the amount of homeless everywhere, as well as ‘professionals’ asking for money, I tried to give as much as I could- the sight was uncomfortable, but absolutely necessary because it showed me the harsh reality of many on the planet, and how humanity collectively needs to get together and make long-overdue changes to systems in place. This activity was particularly memorable due to the expanding of our social networks, bettering our social/communication skills and talking about future projects we can do together to improve both communities.

School trip to Zagreb
🎄Type of activity: activity
🎄duration and time: 1 day
🎄activity description🎄
🎄my school organized a trip to Zagreb. The idea was to learn something about Zagreb's architecture visit the great monuments and explore the city during the Advent season. We also visited the Ethnographic Museum of Zagreb. There were 2 exhibits one about the cultures of distant civilizations and one about the culture and mainly traditional clothes of Croatia through history. After the museum we visited the "gornji grad" as well as the central Ban Jelačić square. then we had some free time so we went to drink a coffee and visited the Advent parks. 🎄
learning outcomes
🎄Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
reflexion
🎄I have been to Zagreb before and I've always liked it but I have never visited it with my friends. I was happy that the snow was falling because it contributed to the vibe of the "Advent" parks. The visit to the museum was great, the guide helped broaden our understanding of their culture as well as the distant cultures. I think I wouldn't have liked the exhibition as much if the guide wasn't there. 🎄

Trip to Zagreb
Activity title: Visiting the city of Zagreb as a geography field trip
Activity duration: 1 whole day
Type of activity: creativity and activity
Activity description
Last Saturday (9.12), we took a field trip to the capital of Croatia, our neighboring country. We left Banjaluka at 7AM and got to Zagreb rather quickly, by 10AM. We took a 1-and-a-half-hour walking tour of the city with our geography teacher Draško Perać, where we visited the city center, The Ban Jelačić Square, a cathedral, the national theater, and our favourite part - the Advent. After that, we visited the Etnographic museum of Zagreb . After that, we had about 5 hours of free time, and we decided to spend most of that finding nice places to eat, or touring bookstores.
Reflection
It was a wonderful experience, exploring a new city in the wintertime and the holiday season, learning more about many cultures, and spending quality time with my friends. I genuinely found out about many traditions and historical aspects of different countries in the Ethnographic museum, I loved the free time that we spent walking and enjoying food.
Learning outcomes
Increased your awareness of your own strengths and areas for growth
Undertaken new challenges
Planned and initiated activities

Trip to Zagreb
🇭🇷📝Activity title: Going on a trip to Zagreb with my classmates 🇭🇷⏱️Duration: 7am-11pm 🇭🇷❓Type of activity: Activity
Activity description On Saturday, December 9th my classmates and I went on a trip to Zagreb. The trip was organized by our geography teacher Draško Perać, and we travelled via bus. The trip to Zagreb was only 3 hours long (7am to 10am) and we stayed in Zagreb until we had to leave at 6pm. We got home around 4-5 hours later.
Learning outcomes - Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience - Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences - Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken developing new skills in the process
Reflection Right when we got to Zagreb, we went to the Ethnographic Museum and we were there for around 45 minutes. It was very interesting to learn about Croatian history. We had 6 hours of free time and the first thing my friends and I did was go eat. After that, we got coffee and headed to Advent to check it out. We were thrilled. Then, to my request, we went to two CD shops so I could buy my favorite artist's CDs. After that we walked around and went into different stores. We took lots of pictures and had fun. Then, we sat down to eat some waffles and to check out Advent one last time during the evening. We bought some souvenirs and left to go back to the bus station. It was a very dear experience and it was extremely fun.
