┊🧿┊Activity title: Field trip to Višegrad with out Serbian language class
┊🧿┊Duration: 3 days
┊🧿┊Type of activity: creativity, activity

༻˖ ࣪ Activity description
╰┈➤After we finished reading Ivo Andrić's "Na Drini Ćuprija", our Serbian class, with our teacher, went to Višegrad to visit the famous Ćuprija and explore the rest of the town. The trip lasted 3 days in total, during which we visited Ćuprija, Lotika's grave, Ivo Andrić's house, and did presentations in the center of the bridge.
╰┈➤ We all stayed at Andrićgrad, which is close to the bridge, where most of our planned activities were held. I read some of Andrić's quotes there, everyone did their presentation on the specific topic given by our teacher, we took pictures... We had our free time in the evening, and even went out with our teachers and had fun!

┊🧿┊Show that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.
┊🧿┊Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences.
┊🧿┊Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.
。゚•┈୨ Reflection
This 3-days-long field trip really helped me visualize what Andrić was describing and talking about in his most famous book. It was a great opportunity to visit and explore a place so culturally important and significant, especially with a person who is highly educated in that area (our teacher and touristic guide). However, at the end of the trip, most of us were pretty tired since Višegrad is a very small town and 3 days were maybe a little bit too much. Still, we visited other things in different cities on our way, like Andrić's wife's some kind of studio where her clothes are displayed. In conclusion, I'm very grateful for this opportunity and experience, and it definitely inspired me to read more of our literature.

CAS Project - "Sedmica umjetnosti"
┊👾┊Activity title: Organizing "Sedmica umjetnosti" (Week of art)
┊👾┊Duration: January, February, and March of 2024, until March 14th
┊👾┊Type of activity: creativity, service

༻˖ ࣪Activity description
╰┈➤ Since I have loved doing art for the longest time and have been participating in the art week in our high school since the first year, I have decided that my CAS Project will involve preparing "Sedmica umjetnosti". I figured that for this project to meet all CAS Project requirements, I would need to work on it as a coordinator. Thus, with fellow coordinators, preparations started in January and we had more than 2 months of work ahead us.

╰┈➤ All this involved planning of "Night of visual arts", performance, decorating the school, working and coordinating other students, making transparencies, filming short movies, finding ideal materials, sewing clothes, and other.

╰┈➤ The corner for which I was responsible, specifically on the night of the visual arts, was doing art on fabric. A few friends of mine volunteered to do it with me. We prepared t-shirts on which we will paint in advance, and gave them to whoever wanted to wear them and be our model. We also had a "fashion show" in which we showed clothes that we had been making for the past months. The night was opened with movies some students made, and I was involved with one. I was acting in it as a young artist and had to film myself creating an art piece for it.

(don't get confused, I dyed my hair between those pictures haha)
╰┈➤ The proof that everything looked spectacular and was done, having all details in mind, was our interview on national television. "Generacija Z", which is a TV show created to talk with young and talented people, invited us to speak about and promote this event in our school.

。゚•┈୨ Learning outcomes
┊👾┊Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth.
┊👾┊ that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.
┊👾┊Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience.
┊👾┊how commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences.
┊👾┊Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.
。゚•┈୨ Reflection
Looking back on the “Night of Visual Arts,” I honestly didn’t expect the experience to be as intense, exhausting, and ultimately rewarding as it was. When I first agreed to be a coordinator, I knew it would require commitment, but I didn’t fully grasp the emotional and mental energy it would take. Planning such a large event from scratch, especially something so creative, felt overwhelming at times. There were days when I was questioning if we’d be able to pull it off.
Still, being in the middle of it, surrounded by passionate students, made the pressure worth it. Everyone brought their own strengths, and I learned how to lean on others, delegate, and trust the process, things I’ve always struggled with. For once, I wasn’t just a participant in a school event; I was responsible for making it happen. That shift came with a lot of self-doubt but also growth. I had to communicate clearly, stay organized, and constantly adapt when things didn’t go to plan. That wasn’t easy, but it taught me resilience and leadership in real, unpredictable situations.

┊📌┊Duration: 5h on December 27th
┊📌┊Type of activity: creativity and service

╰┈➤ And finally, Christmas fair, the last activity of this year. Our school hosted a Christmas fair that was organized by IB students and CAS coordinator. Our goal was to raise funds for a charity. On Wednesday, December 27th, everything we had made up to that day was presented on Christmas fair ready to be sold.

╰┈➤ We were selling many different things: books, knitted hats, soap bars, hand made Christmas cards, decorations.... This Christmas fair have became a tradition in our school, but we are improving it every year. This this time we made a "photo booth" with Santa (Pero) and pictures costed 1KM. That was definitely the main attraction of the event.

This was activity i was looking forward to for a long time, and it did not disappoint. A fun way to take a break from school while at the same time helping someone. We tested our sales skills, laughed, got closer with each other, raised money for donation purposes, took great pictures and enjoyed our last days of school in this year. We were glad to help, and we are looking forward to more activities like this.

┊🌸┊Activity title: Helping my cousin to prepare for physics test
┊🌸┊Duration: 3h

༻˖ ࣪Activity description
╰┈➤ My cousin reached out to me asking for help with her homework and studying. She had a physics test incoming and because she had known that i love anything connected with math, she asked me to help her. Of course I had agreed and she came to my house to study together. Right now she is in first year of Medical school and is learning about basic physics like speed and velocity or Newton's laws.

╰┈➤ Thankfully, she came prepared, she brought all the materials and books with her. We went through everything together slowly, it wasn't easy at all but we managed to do it. I tired to simplify everything.

╰┈➤ By the way, if you're wondering why she is having a short hair, it's because of her main role in incoming movie. She is young actress and has already worked in a movie and series "Oluja" and now we're all waiting for her new movie "Djeca Kozare" to come out. It is actually really nice to see that she's interested in school and is working hard to get good grades even though she is barely having free time.

╰┈➤ I was more than happy to help my cousin with her problem. This was, we were both practicing something that interests us. Even though it is something that i learned about a long time ago, and it was easy, it is always good to go through it again. I love seeing Milica and I am glad to help whenever she needs it, and i know she would help me with anything. Good luck with test and movie!

༊*·˚ Harvesting and collecting olives ˚·*༊
┊🫒┊Activity title: Harvesting olives in Croatia
┊🫒┊Duration: 8h
┊🫒┊Type of activity: activity and service

༊*·˚ Activity description
╰┈➤ Olive harvesting has been traditionally starting after November 1st for decades. This year, the tradition was broken. Experts advised to start earlier, so the first harvests started at the end of September.
╰┈➤ On harvest days, everything else stops. Everything is subordinated to the collection of those small fruits that mean health. People are gathering to collect olives - no one is sick, no one is in cafes or on the streets during the day. Everyone is in the olive grove. And help is always welcome.
╰┈➤ We went to the field early in the morning. Harvesting begins as soon as the dew disappears. The terrain is inaccessible, interspersed with large rocks and stones. It is done in 3x2 teams, i went with my mom. First, the team sets up large, long awnings around the trees. When the awnings are set, a team with machines (mambas) appears to shake the olives from the tree. The olives fall on the awnings, which are collected by the third team.

╰┈➤ When collecting the awnings with olives, the fruits are cleaned from the branches with rakes and the remaining leaves are removed. Then the olives are bought in buckets, taken to the "grizaiola" to be sifted once more and the rest of the leaves and twigs removed. They are packed in a bag in which they will be transported to the oil mill.

╰┈➤ We finished harvesting around 4:00 PM because the visibility was decreasing. we cleared about 30 trees. Then the olives are taken to the oil mill for processing. And that's just a real experience. A long column of SUVs with trailers full of bags formed an almost kilometer-long line. And that's where the magic began. All the pickers were outside the vehicle, grouped into groups of 10- 15 people. When I got out of the car, I heard happy tiredness, laughter, shouting. Everyone was holding glasses in their hands and happily discussing. Our host explained to us that this meeting is an ancient custom, that is, a way of communication and exchange of information. Everyone has been in the field for months, everyone spends their days picking olives, and this was a time for socializing. No phones.

╰┈➤ As I passed by different groups of happy pickers, I noticed that the topics were the same: how much did everyone pick, how many trees, what's the weather like tomorrow, and the question of all questions, "how much did the olives drop"? I asked for an explanation...not so long ago, for 100 kg of harvested fruit, olives "threw" 17 liters of oil each. Now it is much less, and the crop "threw" 9 liters to us.

┊🫒┊Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
┊🫒┊Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
┊🫒┊Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
༊*·˚ Reflection:
I learned a lot about collecting olives and generally about peoples life style in those regions. I also learned about their culture, mindset and interests because i spent a whole day with them. Even though it was hard and tiring work, i enjoyed it. The negative side of this whole event are the things i learned about climate change. As i already mentioned, collecting olives is becoming less profitable due to conditions created by climate change. But even with that on my mind, i had a great time with my mom and other people from Cres.

┊🎨┊Duration: long term, twice a week for 2h
┊🎨┊Type of activity: creativity

𓆩♡𓆪Activity description
╰┈➤ This summer, I started attending art classes for the first time. Our artist, Vladislav Dacešin made an art group for people that are 18 years old or above, but thankfully he made an exception for me. In those classes, we are learning to make art with oil paint, but in order to come to that "level" I had to go through some of exercises with pencils. Here are some of them:

╰┈➤ I had to train my eyes and hand movement before starting more serious projects with oil paints. My teacher, Vladislav, suggested choosing something from nature as inspiration for my first painting.

This is the place where I am learning to paint, my sketch and palette.
╰┈➤ This process is very slow and it require a lot of patience. It is important to relax while doing it and enjoy it. Here is my finished picture:

˚⋆。○ Making gingerbread house ○。⋆˚
┊👾┊Activity title: Making gingerbread house and cookies
┊👾┊Duration: 8h on December 2nd
┊👾┊Type of activity: creativity

˚⋆。○ Activity description
╰┈➤ This year I joined this "winter-tradition" of making gingerbread house that my friends have been doing for years. 7 of us literally gave our souls in attempt to make this house from scratch. This "operation" was held at my friend Anja's place, and she made a batch of gingerbread dough the day before (thank youuuu). The planning of this project started weeks ago, so it's a little bit unfair to say that this activity lasted for 8h. We had our "meetings" on breaks between classes where we picked designs, inspo-pics and calculated measurements of everything.

Here you can see our final decisions in making, as well as Petar and Anja doing some hard math stuff in order to get the right proportions. (I heard that he was using trigonometry 😶)
╰┈➤ We started making walls and roof, and with leftovers we made cookies! Our goal was to make everyone's whishes and suggestions come true, so the house wasn't that "aesthetically pretty" but is surely was cute and loveable!

╰┈➤ Decorating it was, i have to admit, pretty fun until it became kind of stressful. We made a huge mess but at the end it was worth it! Everyone took a part in it, it's visible on house that it was a product of a few different hands. Here are the walls that i have decorated:

╰┈➤ After the parts were baked, we "glued" them with home made caramel. We even succeed to make a fence. The words can't describe how proud we were of the final look of this cute house, we even bought lights to put them in it; here's the picture:

┊👾┊Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
┊👾┊Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
┊👾┊Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
˚⋆。○ Reflection
This activity was one of the best things i took part in this year. Not only did i got closer to my friends, but we learned to work together, respect each other's opinions and suggestions, to find fun in small things, and of course, to bake! We also got a chance to meet each other better by listening to the music each of us likes, doing karaoke, having long talks and spending the whole day together.

˚⋆୨୧˚School trip to Zagreb˚୨୧⋆˚
┊🎄┊Activity title: Visiting and exploring Zagreb in winter-time
┊🎄┊Duration: whole day on December 9th
┊🎄┊Type of activity: creativity and activity

˚⋆୨୧˚Activity description
╰┈➤ On Saturday, December 9th, my classmates and I took a trip to Zagreb with our geography teacher. We had left Banja Luka at 7am and traveled for 3h which was not that long. As responsible IB students that we are, Andrea, who basically became my bus-partner by now, and I spent those 3h doing homework.

╰┈➤ When we arrived, we took a 1-and-a-half-hour walking tour of the city; we visited: the city center, The Ban Jelačić Square, a cathedral, the national theater, and the main reason we decided to took this trip - the Advent. At noon, we went to Etnographic museum of Zagreb and took a guided tour of it.

we left our note there 😊
╰┈➤ After the tour, our teachers gave us 5h of free time, which we used entirely. We walked around the advent, went to bookstores and bought gifts, ate sushi, listened to music which was playing in bars in almost every street, bought chestnuts and of course, fritule (fritters).

╰┈➤ Even though it was very cold, as you can see by our outfits, we were having such a great time that we could not even think about the weather. Despite that we made 18 000 steps walking around the city without the map, we were not tired at all. We were singing in the bus for the whole time on our way back to Banjaluka, playing games and having the best time.

And for the end, once again, pictures of me and Andrea sleeping in very weird poses.
˚⋆୨୧˚Learning outcomes
┊🎄┊Increased your awareness of your own strengths and areas for growth
┊🎄┊Undertaken new challenges

˚⋆୨୧˚ Reflection
╰┈➤We had a wonderful time visiting Zagreb, even though most of us had already been there at least once. Just by the length of this blog and number of pictures we took, you could assume that this was one of our favorite activities in this school year so far. It was nice exploring parts of city that you would not normally go to see with your family, like Ethnographic museum, so i surely can confirm that i have learned a few new things about Zagreb, like their traditions and historical aspects. I also have gotten closer with my classmates, had a great time and enjoyed the holiday season with them.

┊👀┊Activity title: Gen-Z exhibition
┊👀┊Duration: 1,5h on October 17th
┊👀┊Type of activity: creativity

.˚₊‧༉ Activity description
╰┈➤ On October 17th 2023, our homeroom teacher took the whole class to art exhibition called Gen-Z exhibition. Exhibition was held at "Dom omladine" and it was created by students of the Academy of Arts from Banjaluka and Sarajevo. The whole program of the day was divided into 2 parts: first we spent 30-45 minutes going through all of the artworks exhibited, talking between us about our opinions.

Here is my friend Dunja standing by picture representing the sewing machine that reminded me of her because she likes sewing and making clothes.😊
╰┈➤ Second part of the program was the main reason we had visited exhibition; Mile Kekin, singer from band "Hladno pivo" sang for us, both his old and new songs, introduced us to his new project (coloring book for kids inspired by his daughter) and answered a few questions we wanted to ask.

.˚₊‧༉ Learning outcomes
┊👀┊Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
┊👀┊Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
┊👀┊Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
.˚₊‧༉Reflection
╰┈➤ This art exhibition was very interesting and meaningful, especially because it reminded us of problems our generation is struggling with. Every one of us experienced it in our way. Each of us could find at least one personal problem to compare with exhibited pictures. Besides, it was nice to see art projects of other students and how their hard work was awarded. It gave me a lot of confidence and motivation because I consider myself artist as well.

At the end, we even got the chance to meet and take a picture with Mile Kekin.

╰┈➤On October 21st, our geography teacher took us on trip to explore cities Novi Sad and Sremski Karlovci. We left Banja Luka at 5:30 am and our trip to Sremski Karlovci lasted for whole 7 hours. Even though it was kind of exhausting, it was worth it because i got a chance to learn a lot about history as well as geography aspects of that place. We visited first ever gymnasium in Serbia, the oldest theological high school, which is created back in 1794, as well as biggest high-school library in whole Serbia, which is in that school. Our tourist guide took us through Church of Sremski Karlovci where we saw beautiful art works and decor on walls.

I met some tourists that were talking about festival so my friends and I made a promise to visit it next year in July!

╰┈➤We were given around 3,5 hours of free time which I spent on hanging around with my friends, coffee break, lunch and a bit of shopping! I got some souvenirs, enjoyed a nice warm day and for everyone's surprise, met famous youtubers!

*ੈ✩‧₊˚Activity description
╰┈➤ Our school had a few blank walls that looked boring, so we as IB students on Visual art classes got the privilege to redecorate them. We decided to paint them with cement paint. The first wall was inside one of classrooms and we drew doodle-like-shapes on it so it looks like wallpaper.

╰┈➤After we had finished it, our next step was the wall in school hall. This one we had to share with IB2 students so we divided it in half. Bulletin board in our school wasn't working well so we made a new one - across the whole wall. You cant miss it.

Even though this was everyone's first time painting (seriously) on walls and we made few mistakes, it was fun and exciting. Our skills progressed and we can definitely see the difference. At first I was scared of messing up lines but with time i found this activity really relaxing. The atmosphere we create on our classes is perfect - chill but productive. I' m so proud of the work we got done and I think it will be useful to everyone to have a noticeboard. I' m also grateful for opportunity to leave my mark in this school as a part of it. We were wearing chemistry robes the whole time so majority of people were stopping and asking us questions and admiring our work which only gave us more motivation. I hope they'll enjoy it from now on!

꧁Hiking on Manjača꧂
┊🐛┊Activity title: Hiking trip on Manjača
┊🐛┊Duration: From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on October first
┊🐛┊Type of activity: Activity

.ೃ࿐ Activity description
On Sunday, October 1st, our school joined a hike that had been organised on Manjača. We got there around 9 a.m. and started walking in small groups created based on our walking pace. The path was 12km long, full of ups and downs but we all managed to complete it without problems. At the finish we were all provided a lunch - some kind of soup. After we had eaten and rested on blankets, we took group pictures and went home by the bus.

ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ We also had a lot of interaction with nature, both plants and animals. Some of my friends were picking up mushrooms, rose hips and flowers.

ˏˋ°•*⁀➷My friend Adrijana and I got lost but we found other people who were in the same situation so we helped each other and became friends. We were listening to music the whole time, singing and enjoying various views we came across.

.ೃ࿐Reflection
With this activity I became aware of how hard hiking all day is even if we are in excellent form. It wasn't easy at all but we had great time together exploring the nature. Everytime we saw majestic view for top of the hill or from inside of the forest it got easier to hike. It's almost sad how many of us aren't even aware of living this close to some of the most beautiful views and landscapes i've ever seen. This was my first time there so everything was new and exciting! Because we spent 8 hours in nature without phones togehter, I got closer not only with new classmates but with the old ones, too. The whole experience was, maybe not physically, but mentally relaxing for everyone and we had a great time.
