React JS
Component-Based Architecture:
React applications are built using components, which are reusable, self-contained pieces of the UI. Components can be nested, managed, and handled independently, leading to better maintainability and scalability.
JSX (JavaScript XML):
React uses JSX, a syntax extension that allows HTML to be written within JavaScript. This makes the code more readable and easier to write.
Virtual DOM:
React maintains a virtual DOM, an in-memory representation of the actual DOM. When the state of an object changes, React updates the virtual DOM and efficiently determines the minimal set of changes needed to update the real DOM, leading to performance improvements.
One-Way Data Binding:
Data flows in one direction, from parent to child components, which makes the data flow and logic easier to understand and debug.
State Management:
React components can maintain internal state, making it easy to build dynamic and interactive UIs. For more complex state management, libraries like Redux or Context API can be used.
Advantages of Using React
Performance:
Due to the virtual DOM, React minimizes direct manipulation of the DOM, resulting in better performance for dynamic applications.
Reusable Components:
Components can be reused across different parts of an application, reducing the amount of code and enhancing consistency.
Strong Community and Ecosystem:
A large community and a rich ecosystem of tools and libraries support React, making it easier to find solutions, get support, and integrate with other technologies.
SEO Friendly:
React can be rendered on the server using Node.js, making web pages more SEO-friendly compared to traditional client-side rendering.
Getting Started with React
To start building applications with React, you need to have Node.js and npm (Node Package Manager) installed. Here’s a basic setup to create a new React application:
Install Node.js and npm:
Download and install from Node.js website.
Create a New React Application:
You can use Create React App, an officially supported way to create single-page React applications with no configuration required:
npx create-react-app my-app cd my-app npm start
import React from 'react';
function Welcome(props) { return
Hello, {props.name}
; }
export default Welcome;

TAW - Node.js
Tomorrow I have another final...
Wish me luck, I will need it
This examen I've been sort of procrastinating on, although that's is not the correct way to put it... It's more like I've prioritised other finals that I had less time to study for over this...
Well... In the end I started studying last week, and by last week I mean sunday. It was a very busy week because I wanted to also get in touch with my friends after weeks of hardly getting out of my house.
I actually thank my adhd a lot for this, I know how I work and what I can do. And yep, I knew I could pull it off and I really really think I can. I wish I had some extra hours tho, but I desperately need to sleep and rest.
Well. You can see that these schemas and "mind maps" are... Chaotic to say the least. But to me they are the best way to put into paper my thoughts.
In my tablet I have notes about how node and js work, but they only helped me learn the theory. The mind map was what truly made me understand it to a deep level. Now it comes naturally (ha, Selena reference)
So... Yeah, f that teacher who forced us to do the map her own way. And props to me for being able to do this kind of thing, I'm so awesome.
I need to desperately remind myself of the sometimes good and advantageous things that also come with adhd. It's not all doom and gloom, even if that's all I see or feel sometimes.

"Squiffy has no GUI | Quest has a GUI Squiffy is for developers | Quest is for everyone Squiffy outputs HTML | Quest outputs .quest Squiffy runs on any OS | Quest runs only on Windows (and on this site)
Besides that, you use the same programming languages to write scripts for either one.
The compiled games look and act differently by default, but you can alter the HTML, CSS, and/or JS in either Quest or Squiffy to end up with whatever you want."
-----------------------------------------------
not as helpful but also
"
Quest is best for text adventures. Squiffy is best for gamebooks or CYOA stories. They are really two different, if related, things.
Gamesbook/CYOA is the easier genre. I have not used Squiffy, but I have used a similar system, and creating a CYOA is much less effort. That said, as an introduction to programming, it may be lacking because you can pretty much avoid doing any.
A text adventure is spacially based - the player moves between nodes (rooms) that have meaning in the geography of the world. Squiffy is temporally based - the player moves between nodes (pages/events) that have mean in the timeline of the game.
A Quest text adventure has a world model; it has things built-in to represent objects, characters and rooms. If you want the player to be able to manipulate things in a meaningful way, use Quest. An advantage of that is that in introduced object-orientated programming in a natural way (though Quest's OO is a bit limited).
If you want a game that can loaded up to your own web site, use Squiffy.
Quest Gamebooks are pretty much the worst of both worlds."
---------------------------------- more helpful "
My take away from this discussion and from what I've seen so far in the excellent videos linked to above is that Quest is a self-contained text adventure tool that facilitates game-like features and overall content editing through a fixed but pretty rich GUI. That GUI provides a friendly-ish means to create what essentially amounts to program variables and story functions that allow you to weave as intricate an interactive story as you wish, because you set it all up in the GUI's many options.
Squiffy on the other hand, and I barely know what I'm talking about here (except for the coding aspects), allows for a more robust end-product both content-wise and interface-wise... but you must be able to use HTML, Javascript, CSS to create those conditions. Until I've actually put my hands on Squiffy or seens sufficient tutorials, I'm presently not clear about what Squiffy 'comes with' by default without programming enhancement. So, an emerging story here."
----------------------------------------
also, when someone gets a sign, what is being influenced? the person or the thing in the environment? stuff like "i drove past a street sign with her name" makes me think it must always be the sign receiver being influence, to end up the the right place at the right moment but then there are signs involving a stranger, so im not sure
