Mutual Funds Could Outshine ETFs in Your Portfolio Investing can be perplexing, particularly when choosing reasonable alternatives for your portfolio. What are the advantages of investing in small-cap mutual funds compared to large-cap funds?
Investing in small-cap mutual funds offers several potential advantages compared to large-cap funds. Here are some key benefits:
Higher Growth Potential: Small-cap companies are often in the early stages of their growth cycle and have more room for expansion and significant revenue increases. As these companies grow, their stock prices can appreciate rapidly, providing substantial returns to investors.
Market Inefficiencies: Small-cap stocks are less analyzed and followed by market analysts compared to large-cap stocks. This can lead to pricing inefficiencies, allowing skilled fund managers to identify undervalued stocks and capitalize on these opportunities.
Diversification Benefits: Including small-cap funds in an investment portfolio can enhance diversification. Small-cap stocks tend to have different performance cycles compared to large-cap stocks, potentially reducing overall portfolio risk when combined with large-cap investments.
Higher Alpha Generation: Due to the potential for significant undervaluation and less market coverage, small-cap mutual funds may have a higher capacity to generate alpha (returns above the market average) compared to large-cap funds, particularly in bullish market conditions.
Entrepreneurial Spirit: Small-cap companies often have innovative business models and operate in niche markets. Investing in these companies can provide exposure to new and emerging industries, which can be rewarding if these industries experience rapid growth.
Long-Term Outperformance: Historically, small-cap stocks have outperformed large-cap stocks over the long term, despite higher volatility. Investors with a longer investment horizon may benefit from this trend, assuming they can tolerate short-term market fluctuations.
However, it's important to note that investing in small-cap mutual funds also comes with higher risks:
Higher Volatility: Small-cap stocks tend to be more volatile than large-cap stocks. Their prices can fluctuate more dramatically due to lower trading volumes and sensitivity to economic changes.
Liquidity Risks: Small-cap stocks may have lower liquidity, making it harder to buy or sell shares without impacting the stock price.
Business Risk: Small-cap companies might have less stable earnings, less diversified product lines, and greater exposure to market downturns.
Investors should consider their risk tolerance, investment needs, and time horizon before investing in small-cap mutual funds. Diversifying across different asset classes and sectors can help mitigate some of the risks associated with small-cap investments.

Balanced Funds versus Balanced Advantage Funds
If you are new to mutual fund investing, then hybrid funds may look confusing. However, within the category of hybrid funds there are finer classifications like Balanced Funds and Balanced Advantage Funds (BAFs). Any hybrid fund is a combination of equity, debt, and derivatives in varying proportions. The difference between Balanced Funds and Balanced Advantage Funds (BAFs) lies, not just in the mix, but also in the discretion or leeway to the fund manager, to decide and alter that mix. Therefore, the debate of balanced funds vs hybrid funds is about mix and discretion.
What are Balanced Funds?
Have you ever wondered where the SBI Balanced Fund invests in? For that, we must start with understanding the concept of balanced funds. Balanced funds mix their portfolio between equity and debt in a rather rigid proportion. For example, the mix can be between 60:40 in favour of equities to 60:40 in favour of debt. The best balanced mutual funds maintain a fair balance between equity and debt.
What are Balanced Advantage Funds?
Balanced Funds and Balanced Advantage Funds appear similar, but differ in terms of asset mix and discretion. Balanced advantage funds (a.k.a BAFs) also invest in a combination of equity and debt, but the fund manager has greater discretion. Technically, fund managers can go to 100% in debt if interest rates are expected to fall or 100% equity if valuations are too low. In practice, BAFs are never that extreme. Due to this discretion, BAFs are also called dynamic allocation funds. In the list of BAFs, when you see SBI Balanced Advantage Fund Regular Growth, it is a dynamic allocation fund with discretion. When you try to identify the best balanced advantage fund in India, you must look at risk, volatility and returns.
Comparing Balanced Funds with Balanced Advantage Funds
There are similarities and dissimilarities between Balanced Funds and Balanced Advantage Funds (BAFs). This evaluation can identify best balanced advantage funds that fit your choice.
Balanced Funds
Balanced Advantage Funds (BAFs)
Balanced Funds invest in a combination of equity and debt instruments and therefore are hybrid in nature
Balanced Advantage Funds (BAFs) also invest in a mix of equity, derivatives and debt but with greater flexibility and are also hybrid in nature
In Balanced Funds, the equity-debt allocation is predetermined to be a specific ratio.
BAFs also use debt to reduce the overall risk of equities in the portfolio. However, BAFs are more flexible in their allocation which is done at the fund manager’s discretion and a predetermined formula.
Balanced Funds are for the long haul and investors must look at a time horizon of 4-5 years, at least
Invest in Balanced Advantage Funds with minimum of 3-5 years investment horizon. These funds adjust equity exposure based on market conditions using a predetermined formula aiming to minimize volatility in your investment.
However, they differ in asset allocation. Balanced Funds cannot go above 60% in equity or debt and cannot go below 40% in both asset classes.
BAFs are discretionary and there are no such limits. Depending on the market view and predetermined formula, the fund manager can take net equity and debt exposure to any limit.
What about tax treatment? Balanced Funds are treated as non-equity (debt) funds since the equity exposure is less than 65%.
Balanced Advantage Funds are treated as equity funds since total equity levels are always maintained above 65% by way of including allocation to equity derivatives.
The next time you come across the SBI Balanced Advantage Fund or the SBI Mutual Fund Balanced Advantage Fund; remember that it is a dynamic hybrid fund with substantial allocation discretion for the fund manager.
Who should invest in Balanced Funds?
Balanced Funds are ideal for investors who are looking at longer term returns with better managed risk. The debt component also enables steady income. Balanced Fund are a good step to onboard an investor to equity as the risk gets gradually graded higher. It is for investors looking to have a more conservative approach to long term wealth creation. In fact, Balanced Funds are the more pristine form of rule-based hybrid funds. Investors who do not want too much of fund manager volition can opt for Balanced Funds.
Who should invest in Balanced Advantage Funds?
In a BAF, the returns are based on dynamic asset allocation and these are considered ideal for first time investors or conservative investors to test the waters. Investors who are comfortable with moderate volatility in their investment portfolio and have investment horizon of 3-5 years should consider investing in this fund. The dynamic allocation feature helps in reducing the volatility.
The moral of the story is that the next time you see any talk of an SBI balanced fund (or SBI hybrid fund), know that we are talking about an amalgam of debt and equity with different mixes and different levels of fund manager discretion.
If you desire to invest in such balanced or hybrid fund with a mix of debt and equity, you can check out SBI Balanced Advantage Fund or SBI Equity Hybrid Fund and can make your choice based on your risk appetite.

Hi! Could you please write something where reader and Lando have been together for a while and the hate never got to her until she saw a comment about her using Lando’s money and Lando never had a problem with it. But reader starts using her own money but she doesn’t have a lot of it and one day she misses a call from the bank and Lando answers it and finds out her funds are low and he put it together. Happy needing though where Lando reassures her that he loves her using his money.
what's mine is yours (ln4)
✦ pairing - lando norris x female!reader
✦ genre - gold digger tweets, money problems, tears, fluff
Lando and Y/N had always had an easygoing relationship. From the moment they met, things just clicked. They’d been inseparable for years, growing through the ups and downs of the racing world together. She was his anchor, and he was her biggest supporter. Despite the scrutiny from the public eye, their relationship was grounded in mutual respect and understanding. Lando always made sure she felt cherished, often indulging her with gifts, fancy dinners, and trips—but none of that ever really mattered to Y/N. She loved Lando, not his lifestyle.
Still, there was always an undercurrent of judgment from certain corners of social media, as there often is for the partners of famous athletes. Y/N had long trained herself to tune out the negative noise. But today was different.
Sitting on the couch while Lando was out at a sponsorship event, she scrolled through Twitter. It had been a typical day, filled with photos of the two of them that fans had posted, some sweet comments and, as usual, some not-so-sweet ones. She should’ve stopped scrolling when she saw a thread discussing her. But instead, her eyes caught on one tweet.
@SpeedyPaddock: "Does Y/N ever spend a single dollar of her own? I swear all I see is Lando footing the bill. She’s just another gold digger… probably why Lando doesn’t mind either, right? He’s got the money to throw around."
Her heart sank. Y/N stared at the screen, feeling her chest tighten. She had never thought of it that way—sure, Lando loved spoiling her, and she’d accepted his generosity because it made him happy. But was she really taking advantage of him?
She shook her head, trying to clear the heaviness settling in her chest. No, Lando would never think that. Yet, the words echoed in her mind, twisting her perception. What if other people thought the same thing? What if they saw her as nothing more than someone who used Lando’s wealth to get by?
I can't do this anymore, she decided. She wasn’t going to be seen that way. From now on, she'd stop using any of Lando’s money. She wouldn’t tell him—it wasn’t his fault, and she didn’t want to burden him with her insecurities.
Y/N sighed, putting her phone away, her mind already racing with ways to distance herself from his lavish spending. This wasn't about them, it was about her.
time skip
The shift was subtle at first. Y/N stopped suggesting they go out to fancy dinners or buy anything extravagant. She even started paying for smaller thingscoffee, groceries, or an Uber here and there. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to go to their favorite restaurants or enjoy the life they’d built together, but she didn’t want to add fuel to the assumptions people were making online. Every time Lando offered to cover something, she’d smile and politely insist on taking care of it herself.
Lando, oblivious to what was going on in her head, didn’t think much of it at first. He’d tease her with a grin, “Trying to outdo me, are you?” And she’d laugh it off, hiding the unease in her heart.
But as the weeks passed, the strain began to show. Y/N wasn’t rich—not by Lando’s standards, not by any stretch. Her savings weren’t endless, and the more she tried to maintain this facade of independence, the more she found herself running low on funds. She wasn’t sure how long she could keep this up, but the thought of being seen as a "gold digger" kept pushing her forward.
One afternoon, as Lando was lounging on the couch, Y/N’s phone rang. She was out picking up some last-minute groceries, and without thinking, Lando picked it up when he saw the caller ID—her bank.
"Hello, this is Lando. I’m answering for Y/N."
The bank representative, not knowing any different, politely responded, "Hello, sir. We were just calling to inform Ms. Y/L/N that her account balance is quite low, and we’ve noticed a few declined transactions recently. We recommend a transfer or deposit soon to avoid further issues."
Lando’s face dropped, confusion swirling through his mind. "Uh, okay. I’ll let her know. Thank you." He hung up and stared at the phone for a moment, piecing things together.
When Y/N returned home, she found Lando sitting on the edge of the couch, her phone in his hand, a serious expression on his face.
"Hey, everything okay?" she asked, setting the groceries down.
He looked up, his blue eyes soft but concerned. "Why didn’t you tell me?"
Y/N froze. She had no idea what he was talking about. "Tell you what?"
"The bank called. They said your account’s low… and that there have been some declined transactions. Y/N, why are you doing this?" His voice was gentle but filled with worry.
Her heart sank. "Lando, I—" She trailed off, not sure how to explain. The tweet flashed in her mind again, and she could feel the walls closing in.
Lando stood up and walked over to her, his hands resting on her shoulders. "Talk to me. Please."
She exhaled slowly, her voice trembling. "I saw a comment a few weeks ago… someone said I was just using your money. That I’m a gold digger and that you don’t care because you can afford it. It got to me, Lando. I didn’t want people to think that I’m only with you for your money. So, I started using my own… but I didn’t realize how fast it would run out."
Lando’s expression softened even more, his brow furrowing as he pulled her into a hug. "Oh, Y/N…"
She buried her face into his chest, feeling the weight of her decision catch up with her. "I didn’t want to tell you because it wasn’t your fault. It’s just stupid people online. But I didn’t want to be seen that way."
He pulled back slightly, cupping her face in his hands. "Listen to me. I don’t care what anyone else thinks. You’re with me because you love me, and I love you. It’s never been about money, and it never will be."
"But—" she started, but he cut her off gently.
"No, but. I want to spoil you. I want to take you to nice places, buy you things, and make you happy. That’s what people do when they love each other. It doesn’t mean you’re using me. You’re not a gold digger, Y/N. You’ve never been." He kissed her forehead softly. "You don’t have to prove anything to anyone. Especially not to me."
Tears welled up in her eyes, not from sadness, but from relief. She’d been carrying this burden for so long, and now, hearing Lando say those words, it felt like the weight had been lifted. "I just didn’t want you to think I was taking advantage of you."
"I know you, Y/N," he whispered. "You could never do that. I love you, and I love sharing my life with you. That includes my money, okay? We’re a team. Whatever’s mine is yours."
Y/N nodded, tears spilling over as she smiled softly. "I love you too, Lando. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner."
He wiped her tears away with his thumb, smiling back. "Don’t be. Just promise me one thing."
"What?" she asked.
"Promise me you won’t listen to those idiots online. They don’t know us. They don’t know what we have."
Y/N let out a soft laugh. "I promise."
Lando grinned, pulling her into another tight hug. "Good. Now, let’s go out tonight. My treat. And before you say anything, it always will be."
Y/N rolled her eyes playfully, the tension finally easing between them. "Fine. But I’m picking the place."
"Deal."

Hoo boy. Now I've made it known multiple times on my blog that I LOATHE the whoobiefication of Vox, but lets get into why/how Vox is NOT a good person nor a baby that needs protecting and why he's all the better for it. Buckle up ladies and gentlemen, this will be long.
Now, why isn't Vox a good person? Easy. Because he (along with the other Vees) is supposed to be the bad guy of the story. Shocking, I know. Vox was NEVER intended to be a good person, and some of y'all just need to accept that.
Now for the long part: HOW is he not a good person?
Well, first of all, his literal introduction is an ad selling drones HE DESIGNED specifically for stalking,"peeping on the neighbors has never been more stylish"
Right off the bat, this tells us he doesn't care about people unless he can profit off them.
Which is also backed up by the point that he ADVERTISES Val and Vels "love potions" which are basically just roofies.
Again. This man ONLY cares about profit first and foremost, screw the people who can get hurt/SA'd by his products.
Next, he has a power of hypnosis which he is NOT hesitant to use. He can take away someones free will at a glance and uses that to his full advantage.
He's also very willing to give Val his lowest earners to shoot. Notice that he does so with no hesitance and no regret.
Also, (and most significantly) he's a huge, HUGE enabler. This guy has cameras EVERYWHERE, ESPECIALLY when Valentino is involved. He's got cameras in Val's room, Angels old room, at Vals corner of the club (which moves when Val does), there's NO WAY he DOESN'T know that Val is a r@pist.
And DESPITE that, he still sleeps with the man, is very likely in love with him, and oh yeah, FUNDS HIS WHOLE DEAL. The cameras Val uses are Voxtech cameras.
Val may be the one who does the dirty work but Vox willingly and knowingly makes a profit off of that. He doesn’t just know and do nothing, he actively HELPS Val out and obviously has no second thoughts nor regrets about it.
This is not a look of disgust or discontent, this is fondness. Genuine fondness. For Valentino. As a PERSON. Let that sink in.
There’s also the implications that Vox is jealous of the attention Angel gets from Val. Angel gets abused constantly by Val, Vox KNOWS, and still hates Angel because of the sheer fact that he takes up so much of Vals attention.
Not to mention the HEAVY implications that he gets off on watching people suffer.
“Well Vox can still do better than Val!!”
While I’m at it, I guess I should bring up the fact that BOTH Vox and Val are MASSIVE red flags.
With Val, aside from the obvious, he’s also a huge attention whore for Vox and isn’t afraid to break Vox’s property if Vox doesn’t pay attention to him. Yeah Vox gets frustrated with him, who wouldn’t be when their lover is throwing temper tantrums every other day?
With Vox, again, aside from the obvious, isn’t afraid to handle Val roughly when he’s mad, and literally screams about how watching his arch nemesis/obsession get the crap beat out of him is better than sex. Right in front of Val by the way. In regular circumstances, 9.98/10 that’s gonna get your ass dumped in a second.
Not to mention the mutual condescension ation towards each other.
And as much as fans (including myself admittedly) like to shit on Val for being a man child, Vox is literally no better.
Plus the explosive tempers.
Seriously. Vox LITERALLY cannot do better than Val. Vox is the only one who can put up with Vals BS and vice versa.
OH YEAH and lets not forget one last thing: VOX ALSO ABUSES HIS OWN EMPLOYEES.
This dude is scared of him, and it’s NOT because he’s worried about getting fired.
So yes. Vox is not nor HAS EVER been a good person.
And for me personally, I love that. I love that he’s entertaining yet awful. I love his dynamic with Alastor, and I love his relationship with Val even more.
If you’re wondering why I personally love Staticmoth, it’s because basic couple rules do not apply to them. They’re both toxic narcissistic red flags and therefore they can be as awful as they want to each other, and the other will simply shake it off. Yet there’s still heavy trust between the two (never being scared of each other) and they still have little moments together where they’re genuinely happy. It’s unique, and something I’ve never seen in media before.
Basically, if you liked Vox better when you thought he was a poor little baby being abused by Val, read a fan fiction. There’s a lot of them out there.
But people really just need to accept the fact that he’s an awful person. Always has been. He’s not better than Val by ANY means. He and Val are both evil pricks who deserve each other.
And guess what? LIKING AN EVIL CHARACTER DOES NOT MEAN YOU SUPPORT THEIR CHOICES. IT’S OKAY TO LIKE VOX EVEN IF HE IS EVIL.
But don’t go on saying that Vox was “ruined” as a character when all signs have always pointed to him being terrible.

Sinking My Claws Into You ~Dark!Claire Debella xFem Younger!Wealthy!Reader
Summary— A darker fic, set after Claire gets back from Miles’ private island, and she now has to deal with the reality of basically going bankrupt. Luckily, Claire has got her hooks in you, a young, wealthy enthusiast from New York…
Mommy… Master List
Requests & Prompt-List
Warnings: dark fic, lightly implied smut, age gap (all legal), teasing, taunting, manipulation, alcohol consumption, unrequited feelings, little bit of gold digging behavior, praise, flustering, wealth, yucky men, flirting, little bit of sugar mommy behavior, etc.
Enjoy (;
Ever since Claire had backed away from her friendship with Miles, she had hit nothing but impossible obstacles one after another. Without Miles’ endorsement and backing for her campaign for the U.S. Senate, the middle aged woman was facing a fate worse than death. She would have happily rode on the back of Miles’ wealth all the way, but she couldn’t ignore the events that had come to pass. However, her decision now left the woman desperate.
Miles was an eccentric prick whom Claire had met more than 20 years ago. Back then, he had charmed her. And being the young, naive woman that she was, Claire had fallen for his persuasive nature. Not to mention how easy it was considering he was loaded. But Miles never wanted anything more than a friendship from Claire, and Claire eventually was forced to accept this by the amount of pretty models and talented girls that he always had in rotation and the overtly harsh rejection he gave her, which the snob was always happy to remind her of. Over the years, the only reason Claire put up with Miles was for the money. Miles had endorsed her when she ran for mayor, and then now for governor as well.
Miles was always there to dole out a check for whatever the woman needed. And Claire took full advantage of that. The price she paid over the years was well worth the bank she raked in. Miles would compare her to others and batter Claire all the time, she was his favorite plaything. But she always took it with a stoic face, telling herself that it would be worth it, that the amount of money she was getting leveled out the fact that he was a knee-faced jerk.
But then she and Claire had had a falling out. Claire had gone behind her back and stabbed a mutual friend in the back. And if there was one thing that Claire could not stand, it was betrayal. In the heat of the moment, Claire let emotions get the best of her and she broke it off. God she kicked herself for being friends with Miles for as long as she had been… It had been over 2 decades of unhealthy friendship, but in her eyes, the money had made it all worth it. But now, without Miles’ money… She was through. Finished. Done.
That was until she met you.
Claire had met you at an art benefit, one of those fancy events where the rich and wealthy got together, socialized, and gave away millions of dollars like it was nothing. Claire had been there campaigning for more funding and endorsements. She had already talked with three or twelve basic, filthy rich white guys, the kind that flashed toothy smiles while heavily and shamelessly flirting with her. She would indulge these men as little as possible, before moving past them. Those guys weren’t the type she was looking for. They weren't a Miles or a Y/N Astor… Claire rolled her eyes and shrugged off her disgust at the idea of what those rich guys wanted from her.
After a particularly gagging interaction with a young bachelor (at least half her age and nonetheless just as gross as the rest of them who only wanted her body and willing to give nothing in return), Claire had looked around the room, champagne glass in hand, when her gaze had landed on you at the bar. She immediately noticed how the woman carried herself with youthful elegance, and that she was the type of lady who could make anything look good. She could also tell that the woman had money, she was not the type of lady that flattered and flirted with filthy rich men to get into their pockets. She wasn’t a part of the common folk. No, this woman was in the one percent. Her clothing and accessories were not loud, but Claire could read the nicheness of the fashion and knew that she was wearing thousands of dollars: her Manolo pumps, the Cartier watch, the small Dolce purse, etc. This was the type of girl she needed, and she knew this woman could replace Miles and his money. Claire finished her glass, gave it to a server, took a deep breath, put on a smile, and then sauntered over to the stunning lady.
“I would buy you a drink, ‘hun, but it is an open bar…” Claire hummed, glancing over to the wealthy woman with a sly smirk.
You blushed just a smidge, and Claire immediately took that as her first win of the night. This girl was young. Not young enough to not be able to handle commitment, but definitely young enough to fall for Claire’s charm and to agree to hand over her money without a second thought. Again, the perfect mark. While Claire waited for you to make your move, she ordered herself a red wine from the open bar.
“You’re too kind…” you lightly retorted, swirling the expensive amber liquid in your glass.
“And who do I have the pleasure of giving my kindness to today…?” Claire cooed widening her smirk as she now turned her body from the bar to face you.
You slowly swiveled towards the older woman. Claire allowed her eyes to wander and take in the younger woman in front of her. You took a swig of her whiskey, before humming lightly.
“I’m Y/N.”
Claire nodded in satisfaction, taking the glass of red from the bartender when it was ready for her. Her eyes shimmered with predatory intent. She could tell this woman was book smart. But she was confident that she could outplay you in this game.
“I’m Claire Debella. My colleagues call me Debella, you can call me Claire…” the older woman hummed, with a teasing tone.
You sucked in a breath, your face flushing some more, before you nodded lightly.
“Where are you from, Y/N?” Claire cooed, playing with the younger woman’s name in her mouth.
“New York. I went to Harvard, have family in Connecticut” You breathed out, lightly fidgeting with your fingers and your glass while struggling to maintain eye contact.
“Smart girl…” the older brunette cooed, sending a sly wink your way.
Another blush rippled through the wealthy woman’s face. Claire could tell this girl was shy. That was also good, it spoke to her privacy and naivety.
“What about you…?” You softly asked.
“Connecticut.” Peggy promptly responded, before taking control of the conversation once more,
“Are you here alone, Y/N?”
Claire could tell that her words were having an effect on the young, wealthy woman. You nearly choked on her drink at her last words, as well as flushed, fidgeting, struggling to hold eye contact… But not in an uncomfortable way, in a flustered way. In a way where you looked adorable while you were trying to cover her ruby red cheeks in embarrassment. And that was exactly what Claire was going for.
“I am…” you breathed out.
“Really?” Claire cooed, quirking her brow dramatically accompanied by a sip of red, “A stunning girl like you…? I’m surprised that a cute guy or girl hasn’t snatched you up yet…”
Now your face was beet red, and she was desperately trying to swallow all of her liquid courage, overwhelmed from all the praise that the older woman was showering her with. Now the your glass was empty.
“Why don’t we ditch this open bar and go somewhere that has some nice, expensive whiskey for you? Hmmmmm, ‘hun?” Claire purred, leaning in close to the woman’s personal space.
You gulped and nodded mindlessly.
“I’d like that…” you breathed out nervously.
“Good girl…” Claire hummed out in delight.
She placed her glass along with the younger woman’s on the bar, signaling to the bartender that the two of you were done. She then linked her arm with yours with ease and guided you, the clueless, naive, wealthy, young woman out of the expensive, testosterone filled event, getting in the back of your Maserati and heading into a future filled with good fortune for the one and only Claire Debella.

got so pissed about shitlib activists and grifters i made a whole comic about it. it has been tough seeing how large online platforms continue to be misused by grifters and grift-aspirers. the “uncensored” tour by shaun king and khaled beydoun has angered me a lot these past few days, especially because many people still view khaled as a reliable source of “news”. these people are antithetical to the greater cause, and this is an important thing to critique, especially since both of these people have deeply troubled history within activism (look up khaled beydoun new zealand massacre if you really want to lose your lunch). instead of platforming and supporting these people, get your news directly from the news sources that they rip and put on black squares, listen to palestinians on the ground, and look for direct mutual aid like @gazamutualaid and @palestineasdiqa on instagram. these two are just one example of the celebrity activist’s grift.

how i make sure the fundraisers i share are legit
i've seen numerous people in the past few weeks talk about how they never know if a fundraiser is legit, so they don't "risk" sharing or donating. while we all know there are villains out there who will take advantage of the genocide for their own gain, we also need to remember to take care of those who are really victims.
we have a humane duty to help every person who needs it, who approaches us for it. there is always a risk involved when you donate to "unofficial" campaigns online in any capacity, but using it as an excuse to avoid taking action for palestine is a moral failure.
that being said, i thought i'd make a small list of things i personally do before i donate/share fundraisers to make sure they are verified.
i check the notes of the reblogs on the fundraiser post. more often than not, i find a link to the verification or an actual verification. for example, 90-ghost, specifically, is one to reblog a post and verify its legitimacy. many tags also indicate where/when/if the campaign is verified.
i check palestinian blogs that have taken up this duty/responsibility/burden. nabulsi, 90-ghost, fallahifag, fairuzfan, el-shab-hussein, and palipunk are just a few off the top of my head.
i check the gaza funds spreadsheet for the family's name, which is an incredible resource. note: the numbers of the spreadsheet aren't always aligned for some reason (ie, #181 on the list can sometimes mean #184 on the spreadsheet). take the time to properly look through this list.
i check my own mutuals' blogs. many of us get the same people in our ask boxes and sometimes my friends have verified campaigns themselves or they have sources to verifications.
my resources/methods are not exhaustive or perfect. i don't even know if what i do is enough/worthy - but the important thing is that i do it.
it'll never be time to give up on palestine. please, let's all make sure we do our part in liberating our fellow humans that we may all one day enjoy the freedom and justice that we deserve.

DRoP is such a fantastic example of how a massive fandom can fade into obscurity due to censorship and creator hostility towards the fandom. A lot of the young people on this website do not know how big Pern was. It was huge, about as old as Star Trek, and yet everyone knows Star Trek and its influence but few even recognize the name Pern anymore. I’m not going to write a whole essay here, there are tons of great articles on Fanlore about it, plus all of this was a little before my time too. But I am mutuals with one of the most prolific figures in the Pern fandom during the 90s and early 2000s who was threatened with a six figure lawsuit for using some of her OC art to advertise commissions. Any fan who created fanworks that so much as depicted a character/setting/time period from canon, NSFW content, broke the in-universe rules of canon including rules regarding gender and sexuality, depicted lesbian or bisexual OCs, displayed your work outside of author-approved communities, or sold art that so much as resembled Pern dragons (note: they’re just dragons, any dragon artist associating with the fandom could be a target). Literal children roleplaying online with their friends were being bullied by the author. This is the tip of the iceberg as it pertains to the issues of old fandom and I think a lot of you take for granted the freedom we have today. The Powers That Be is hardly even a relevant concept anymore. However, some people seem to have taken it upon themselves to fill this ecological niche. This is also why I’ve honestly been anxious about pushes for stronger copyright protections in light of the AI situation. I fear that TPTB would increasingly take advantage of what any new law entails and what it neglects to specify— with easy and vulnerable targets, human fanartists (and I’m looking at y’all who sell commissions, merch, organize funded projects outside of IP holder permissions), being affected the most. If anything it might be a new opportunity to crack down on infringement as a whole, especially if financial losses associated with derivative works created using AI becomes a wider issue than it currently is. I also hate to see modern fandom reverse engineering the same attitudes and atmosphere of the 20th century, eg. bullying on the basis of canon sanctity, except this time it’s a mob instead of lawyers. Learn your history people.

Advice Somewhat and Some Shit to Sensitive Haters Stalking My Posts
My area is getting ready for those wonderful Trump import tariffs.
A cheap deodorant in a local pharmacy that costed $3.45... Now costs $8.45. Saw it just this morning.
Yes, that's how local businesses are preparing for your totally-going-to-lower-prices Cheese Puff Papi's economic plan.
Pretty sure certain people will blame democrats for it but hey, republicans love to break it so democrats can fix it. I don't even know how this shitass party still gets votes but then I see its either rich people that get big tax cuts and brainwashed people that were unfortunately taken advantage of through disguised lies that vote for this crap.
Also including racists and phobes because that's another tier in this dumbfuckery cake of ignorance.
I want my mutuals to be ready for what's coming next year. I've lived long enough to know shit will get bad for everyone that makes under a certain level of money in their finance bracket.
I want you to buy stuff that's necessary before these businesses keep hiking up prices and I want you to be try to only use money for necessities. Even I have cut my budget in wait to see what happens next.
I'm somewhat ok financially (for now. Now I will have to recalculate everything with the potential and percentages of Trump's Tariffs looming over all of us) and unlike the 6 times bankrupted god, I know how to actually use and administer our finances without destroying my whole family and leaving us in the poor house.
I will probably have to write a guide at this point cos I even know survival skills after natural disasters as well as the banking system... A bunch of simple acquired knowledge that I never thought would be so necessary with what's coming up ahead.
This morning was a wakeup call and reminder that we need to take things seriously to prepare ourselves and our families. We'll need to save, stock up, be a little more frugal
I'm frugal af as it is until I have "fun funds" accumulated to finally relax. People think we only got to "survive" rather than actually "live". Don't ever let someone tell you you can't have nice things and good food and a good quality life just cos you are poor. Rich people act like our existence is to do cheap work for them while only eating stale bread and drinking contaminated water. They see everyone that isn't wealthy as part of their serfdom to do their bidding.
You deserve better.
Anyways, I'm rambling but right now... These times up ahead are a challenge even for me who has survived homelessness and natural disasters that lead to darkness for 6 months. I now feel like I'm in school again doing mathematical exercises and sorting to be ready for another terrible event looming up ahead (we never can catch a break, huh?)
I joke around a lot on here about maga getting what they voted for but the reality is that they're not the only ones getting effed up for them being so painfully stupid and completely lacking in basic critical skills when voting.
I want my mutuals that are in vulnerable situations to do everything to be safe. This is the best advice I can give for now because I sincerely want those that can be potentially affected to be mentally and emotionally ready. I'm here for my friends and even though I'm ranty I am still strangely at ease that we will as a community be fine.
On to another subject.
It's obvious to everyone that follows me that I despise maga. Especially with my relative ones that think I'm morally obligated to help them mitigate the consequences of their own actions. They can't even admit when they fuck up and can't handle confrontation with facts so I don't see a point in saving them. Considering how they voted, they really don't give a shit about me or my own family.
The help that was going for them will go for other people that are flying in next week that definitely need more help than my relatives. My relatives can ask Trump for help in their housing, medical bills etc since they spat on my help by endangering my entire family that falls almost into every category Trump wants to fuck up and make "illegal".
If I do this with actual blood relatives... Imagine what I do to strangers trying shit with me as if I owe them friendship, activism or my time.
I've been ranted at and blocked 5 times over the past week by maga that just can't handle shit I had to tell them. They also mostly approached me so they're the ones going around like the biggest Loser Winners on everyone that isn't pro Trump.
Most recent fun times was a loser calling me mentally ill (weird, cos I'm pretty sure the one that studied criminological psychology is me and not some unappealing mediocre male that reblogs naked women that will never fuck him) and after he raged he blocked me.
I'm online for fun and friends so I do act unhinged and unprofessional af. Why am I gonna bore myself online with a professional veneer (and before some useless maga tries get me "fired". I retired ages ago, sweetums. LOL) when I'm supposed to just relax on here?
I like explicit horror and cats, rats and bats. I write weird shit. I don't have to act like I'm at work all the time with proper diction and I'm not the only "shitlib" that is like this online. One of my best friends who plays horror games with me is surgeon and we both cuss like truckers and have slumber parties.
Meh.
Despite all this, I am appreciative of me, a retired old goth witchy lady, being fake diagnosed by someone with impressive 5th grade level knowledge. I gave easy to find facts and it somehow hurts people into calling me "retarded". I'm done being nice to your ilk and will be giving out just as much shit back as you have done to me.
There's nothing worse in an election than an uninformed voter in an echo chamber. You guys got fed your "facts" from echo chamber social medias and outlets. It's not my fault my factual words hurt you. It's your own for not waking up out of that propaganda induced coma. A lot of you don't even know what communism and social democracy actually are before calling everyone you don't like those things.
After these elections, I now know there's no helping you. You're too far gone and our side is truly packing up and leaving you behind. Blocking, avoiding... We are done as we should have been ages ago.
If you go low, I will go lower. Tired of only one side playing nice and getting trampled on and then you hypocritically clutching at your pearls at the slightest pushback.
We will be meaner and you deserve it. You had it coming. And I'm saying it nicely on here but I've called some yall literally fucking country destroying dumbfucks that actually hate everyone, including America. (that "patriot" some of you have on bio along with Christian crosses will never fail to make me laugh. You guys hate America so much you might as well wipe your ass with the flag. Well you already do put it to your genitals with the undies and swimsuit lines with flag print. Yikes)
But what do I know? I'm just a shitty lib (not really. A lot of libs hate me cos I'm pro guns and support answering violence with even more violence meh)
I don't hate to say "I told you so". In fact I love saying it now.
Now that both of these things are outta the way, I will relax and watch some horror movies in my list. Might live post some of them.
PS: To my haters... I have a statcounter on my blog. Stop being stupid.

every time i see discourse about fundraisers go by on here im just fully struck with the realization that not a single one of you people have either taken a cybersecurity fraud prevention course or bothered to take one singular second to consider the website youre on. this is the broke bitches website. none of us can afford to fund our mutuals' grocery bills, much less entire evacuation funds, and CERTAINLY not FAKE evacuation funds taking advantage of genocide victims. all this shit abt how people are deliberately choosing not to fund every post that passes their dash because they hate palestinians literally just does the work of actual scammers for them by laying the high-pressure sales tactics groundwork, and the "do you guys have any idea how hard it is to keep coming up with new attention-grabbing fundraiser posts?" ones just ring EXTREMELY hollow because YEAH! YEAH I DO! and so does everyone i follow! and everyone they follow! because all of us are FUCKING BROKE and surviving on crumbs! i just saw one that said "i make sure to keep $40 in my wallet at all times so i can give $20 to any panhandlers i see, this is the same" and its like!! good for you, thats very nice, but like!!! you need need NEED to take a step back and realize that /being able to do that/ is a position of privilege, not the default setting to be a good person. i wont discount that some people do ignore fundraisers specifically because of racism because Of Course, but like. a) yelling at them isnt gonna make them stop, or more accurately yelling at /everyone else/ isnt gonna make those people stop, and b) trying to apply that as a blanket motivation for everyone just. realistically doesnt work. not donating is a nonaction, it is the literal default status, and while in specific situations you can use CONSISTENT absence of SPECIFIC actions to track a person's motivations SOMETIMES, broadly speaking that just. doesnt work.
there are 8 billion people on this planet. most of them will never know you exist. of the ones that do, most will not be able to help you. of the ones that can, most will not be on the broke bitches website passing the same communal $20 around. consider your audience and stop shitting on fellow poor people for having the gall to need to be careful with their money. and if you are genuinely only posting your fundraiser to tumblr, like. im sorry, but you need to anticipate not reaching your goal and prepare accordingly. theres a reason the last big scam scandal people talk about actually getting the money is like. all-or-nothing era, as a website none of us have the funds to make that kind of thing happen anymore or the security to risk it. a fundraiser not meeting its goal on here is not a personal sleight against whoever made it, its just how life goes sometimes. and it's unfair and it sucks and we should help however we can, but. sometimes you just arent able to help someone else, and continuing to feel responsible serves only to torture yourself. and blaming OTHERS serves only to move that guilt from yourself off onto another person. i imagine that has to be where a lot of the vitriol comes from, is people who cant afford to donate more getting pissed at people they see as having the funds but choosing not to share them, but again, sometimes you just are not able to achieve the goals you set out towards, through no fault of the specific parties involved.
people on tumblr choosing to buy groceries rather than potentially donate to a scam are not your enemy and are not the ones facilitating a genocide. we're all victims of the same horrific system, the question is just how that system manifests its influence on each of us. poverty kills just as thoroughly as a bomb. everyone is just doing their best to survive, and as much as we like to pretend that everyone should be a perfect selfless angel that puts others before themselves no matter what, humans are by default a selfish species, and it is a lot easier to say what youd do in theory than actually do it. and there's a reason you have to put on your own oxygen mask before helping the person beside you, youre of no help to anyone if youre too dead to do anything.
#origibberish#and inb4 someone goes 'are you saying poverty is as bad a situation as GENOCIDE' be so fucking fr with me i s2g#yall know thats not what i mean so if we can just skip the part where we pretend you dont and quibble about semantics thatd be great#also ive seen multiple posts being like 'i cant believe yall are saying EVERY FUNDRAISER FROM PALESTINIANS is a scam' which#uh. no one was saying that?#people were saying that. some scammers were using the genocide as their scam? which. is true? there have been? several confirmed?#like. most arguments in this i can see where theyre coming from but that just. literally is inaccurate#i cant even call it disingenuous even though it clearly is because thats just. so far off of what literally anyone was saying that i have#trouble interpreting it as anything other than a deliberate exaggeration to stir emotional responses.#like. ive said before i see little value in going 'zomg a psyop!!' but that more than anything made me be like#if there was anyone on this website i had to pick to be running a scam using palestine as a cover it would be that person. because just. how#the fuck do you get that interpretation unless youre deliberately trying to emotionally manipulate people into not using#their critical thinking skills to determine scams from real fundraisers.#oh also the posts being like 'even if some are scams‚ so what? you should still risk it'#like genuinely if you have shared that one i have 0 respect for you. like that just. is not how things work in the real world when you#need money to survive.#and when the stakes are 'help save someone from genocide or help someone taking advantage of genocide victims' like.#you really cant see why people would be a little nervous abt that without it being some deep seated personal hatred?#you cant see why picking the wrong one there might weigh on a person?#just. idk. ppl on here need to get better at trying to see others' perspectives i think
