Meet the Parents
Prompt 4: Meet the Parents
“It is alright, Mari-hime. Mother does not wish to harm you.”
“That’s what you think! I might knock something into her or trip and fall and spill something and then she’ll-”
“Breathe, Mari.” Adrien said, squeezing his girlfriend’s hand comfortingly. “You’re catastrophizing again. We’re going to have a nice dinner with our girlfriend’s mother, in which nothing bad is going to happen.” Despite his efforts to calm Marinette down, Adrien himself was noticeably anxious, fidgeting with his cuffs and collar with his unoccupied hand.
“Calm down, please,” Kagami said as she opened the door to her house, “I will escort you outside if mother starts saying anything threatening.”
“Not helping,” Marinette said through clenched teeth.
“Welcome. We have prepared a selection of appetizers for your consumption while you wait for dinner.” A butler waited behind the door, standing mid-bow. “Do you require any help with your coats or bags?” He said as he straightened.
“We will be fine, Jaques.” Kagami said, ignoring Marinette’s wide-eyed gaze, in favor of shrugging off her white jacket, and folding it into the Butler’s hands.
“As you wish,” Jaques said, bowing again, before taking Kagami’s Jacket through a door to the left and vanishing.
“You have a butler?”
“Jaques is mother’s butler, not mine. He merely does a few things around the house that are not required of him from time to time.” Kagami sat on the bench next to the door, and started to unlace her shoes.
Adrien made a little “oh” of realization, and sat on the bench next to the fencer, starting to remove his own Converse shoes.
“Should I remove my shoes?”
“Yes.”
“You should.”
“Okay” Marinette sat down on the bench with her significant others, and began to take off her own shoes.
The house was quiet as they walked through the halls, lacking even the distinct sound of shoes on hardwood, with their slippers making no noticeable sound. The walls were bare of decoration, and each room had several raised bumps next to the doorframe on the right side. None of the doors had handles. Eventually, the party of three came to a pair of double-doors with significantly more ornamentation around the frame than any of the others. It was this set of doors that Kagami pushed open.
Through the door sat a long table, set with a variety of dishes, from french pastries and breads to several japanese foods, including several varieties of sushi, a few soups and a cheese platter with several different artisanal breads arranged on it next to several different varieties of cheese.
Marinette’s head spun as she tried to calculate the expenses of the food set before them, only coming up with a figure of “Too much”
“Welcome.” Tomoe Tsurugi rose from her seat across the table, her sunglasses gleaming in the light of the chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. She bowed lightly, and Kagami responded with a deeper bow. Adrien followed suit, and Marinette joined them with only a slight delay.
“Please, take a seat,” The Tsurugi Matriarch said, gesturing towards the chairs across the table from her, “We have much to discuss.”

Adrigaminette August 2020 Day 4: Meet the Parents
Characters and characterizations from Octodad are present.
@adrigaminetteaugust
"Mother, do we really have to go?"
Tomoe slightly turned towards her daughter when she asked this question.
"Of course, Kagami. Why wouldn't we go? It's a parent-teacher conference. Parents topically go to these events."
"Yes... But your son-in-"
"Lucifer being your teacher doesn't change this." Tomoe raised her head higher at this statement.
"Besides, I've been meaning to meet this, Marinette, you speak highly of."
Kagami stiffened at this. "Mother-"
"Do not worry, I won't embarrass you." Tomoe turn her head in Kagami's direction. "I simply want to know what about her has caught your attention."
Though Tomoe didn't notice, Kagami started to blush furiously at that, choosing to remain silent for the remainder of the car ride.
---------------------Line Break------------------
"Kagami!"
Kagami turned to see Marinette, with her parents, waving at her as she walked over to Kagami and her mother.
Kagami smiled at Marinette. "Hello, Marih-"
Kagami stopped herself when she remembered that her mother was right there.
Before Marinette could question Kagami on why she stopped, Tom spoke up.
"So you're Tomoe? I heard quite a bit about you."
Tomoe turned towards Tom. "Mr. Dupain? Yes, I've heard bits and pieces about you as well." She then held out a hand. "It's a pleasure to finally meet the people that raised one of my daughters friends."
Tom grinned. "Same here. Both your daughters are wonderful people."
Tomoe nodded. "Ah, yes. Asuna works for you, no?"
Sabine clasped her hands together with a light clap. "That's right. Your daughter is a very hard worker. You must be proud."
Tomoe nodded. "Yes, I've always been proud of her insistence to be self reliant."
Before the conversation could continue, the sound of someone running over caught their attention.
"Kagami! Marinette!" Adrien yelled as Natalie and Lucifer walked up behind him.
"Adrien!?!" Marinette exclaimed as she hid behind Kagami, peeking over her hands that were clutching onto Kagami's arms. "Y-you're here! Where's your dad?"
Adrien's smile lessened a little as Natalie spoke up.
"Mr Agreste was to busy to come in person, so I'll be the functioning guardian for the evening."
Lucifer scowled at that, but said nothing.
"Are you sure he's the father?"
Tomoe and Sabine looked to each other, with Tomoe raising an eyebrow while Sabine's eyes widened.
Tomoe gave a hmph. "It's nice to see another decent parent."
Adrien started to wave his hand infornt of himself. "He's just busy! I'm sure he would be here if he could."
All the adults, Kagami, and Marinette didn't seem to sure on that, but left it at that as Tomoe went back to talking to Marinette's parents, with Lucifer and Natalie eventually entering the conversation, while Adrien started to talk to the girls.
Every now and then, one of Marinette's parents would look over, before Tomoe spoke to Lucifer.
"Now I see what you met by a ‘love triangle’."
Sabine and Tom turned to Tomoe and Lucifer. "You see it too?"
Tomoe hummed. "I'm blind, and it's obvious to me." She then turned her head in the direction of the Dupain-Chengs. "Honestly, I hope I get you as in-laws over Gabriel."
Sabine chuckled. "Feelings mutual. Though, Adrien is a very sweet child."
Tomoe nodded. "Indeed. He alone more than makes up for his father's shortcomings."
Lucifer sighed. "I just wish they would sort out their feelings already." He then slumped. "It's exhausting dealing with them in class all day as is."
The parents and Natalie laughed at that, catching the kids attention, but they wouldn't elaborate on what they were laughing about, or why Lucifer seemed offended.
