Sick Day
Once again a tiny bit of Ladynoir has snuck into my Adrienette April haha. I hope you guys like it! It does contain spoilers from s5 up until Derision so please watch those first! Lemme know what you think!
AO3
Ladybug and Chat Noir had “sick days”. That wasn’t to say that they ever took them during akuma attacks. No, they were always ready to protect the people of Paris. But, every so often, on quiet nights, instead of patrolling, they would just sit and talk.
It was nice. It gave both superheroes a chance to relax and erase some of their worries. And, honestly, she needed it now more than ever with the rise of Monarch.
Ladybug landed softly onto the rooftop just across from the Eiffel Tower, a smile stretching across her face as Chat turned to look at her. The sun was just beginning to set, casting a beautiful, golden glow on the city.
“Can we take a ‘sick day’ today, m’lady?” he asked practically as soon as she had landed. His wide, green eyes were eager as he begged her to consider his proposal.
Giggling, she sat down next to her partner, ruffling his hair. “Sure, mon Chaton. We haven’t had one in a while.”
The two superheroes gave a sigh of relief, cuddling even closer together. Ladybug’s head rested gently on Chat’s shoulder, watching the sunset as they enjoyed the simple comfort of each other’s presence.
It was lovely. The ache in her heart slowly ebbed away as the stress of the last week disappeared. Tonight, she could just be. No worries about responsibilities or duties. Just a simple, peaceful quiet with her best friend.
So, when Ladybug returned home and detransformed, she fell asleep quickly for the first time in a while. Honestly, Marinette wished that more days could be like that in her civilian life. A day where she didn’t have to worry about school or anything else.
But, life goes on. Her alarm rang early that morning and Marinette was grateful that she finally got enough rest to wake up on time for once.
And so, pulling on her clothes, she happily made her way to school. Excited to greet her friends and especially Adrien. Marinette was still unsure about what exactly their relationship was.
She wanted to be his girlfriend. More than anything she wanted to hold his hand, kiss his lips, and go on dates. But, she was still scared. Ridiculous worries that this was somehow still a prank designed by Chloé floated around her thoughts.
Her head knew that this wasn’t the case. That Adrien, as sweet and wonderful as he always was, ended his relationship with Chloé the second he found out about what Kim did. But, her heart was still afraid. Afraid of falling and finding out that she was wrong.
But, either way, Marinette was going to take it slow. She loved Adrien and she knew that one day she’d have the strength to work through her worries and finally tell him. She was just glad he was willing to wait for her.
Arriving at school, she was about to enter when she felt a hand gently grab hers. Squeaking in surprise, it gradually faded away when Marinette looked up and saw Adrien’s smiling face. She grinned back, wrapping him up in a tight hug.
“Adrien!”
He hugged her just as tightly back, lifting her so that her feet were just above the ground. “Marinette! I missed you so much!”
She giggled, feeling her cheeks warm as he put her back down on the ground. “You saw me yesterday!”
“And that was simply too long to be without my Marinette! Can’t you just stay with me the whole day?”
Her face turned even redder at his words, butterflies fluttering in her chest. Did he know how sweet he was?
Adrien glanced down at his phone before a sneaky, mischievous expression appeared on his face. “We’ve got some time before class. Do you want to relax for a bit first?”
Shyly, she nodded, letting him lead her over to a shaded area as he tugged on the hand he was still holding. As soon as Marinette sat down, Adrien instantly cuddled into her lap, sighing with contentment. She hummed too, wrapping her arms around him as she enjoyed the comfort of the moment.
Right now, there was no fear. No anxiety. It was just them. And it felt right.
The wind gently blew around them and Marinette cuddled closer with a shiver, enjoying the warmth Adrien provided. Her eyes began to droop and she curled one of her hands through his hair, playing with the strands she had wanted to run her fingers through so desperately for years. It was just as fun as she had imagined.
Adrien seemed to enjoy it too. An almost pleased rumble seemed to be coming from him.
Marinette smiled, wishing that every day could be just like this. Honestly, that sick day with Chat had done wonders for her mental health. Because right now there was no panic or anxiety.
Breaking their bubble of peace, though, was the sound of her phone chirping out a simple melody. Marinette winced. That was her second alarm. That was her get up and get ready for class now or you’re going to be late, alarm.
With quick, nimble fingers, she shut off the distracting, loud noise. She moved to stand up but Adrien didn’t budge. In fact, he nuzzled even closer into her lap with a noise of protest.
She chuckled softly, scratching her hand through his hair one last time before nudging his shoulder. “Come on, Adrien. It’s time to get up. We’re going to be late for class otherwise.”
“Don’t wanna,” he mumbled, turning his head into her leg as he rolled over onto his side. “Am comfy.”
Marinette had to clap a hand to her mouth to stop herself from cooing at him. How did she never notice how goofy and dorky Adrien was? He was just so silly and adorable.
She almost didn’t have the heart to move but then she glanced at the time and winced once more. They really needed to get up. Shifting slightly, she said, “Usually you’re dying to go to class. What’s wrong?”
He rolled back onto his back, his emerald eyes gleaming up at her playfully. “I want to spend more time with you.”
Pink dusted her cheeks at those words as the butterflies came roaring back. He was really going to kill her at this rate.
“Come on, Marinette,” Adrien whined. “Can’t we just take a sick day today?”
Her lips parted as her heart practically dropped in her chest. She had heard those exact words so many times before. Her mind flashed straight back to last night. Those same words coming out of a different boy’s mouth.
Two different boys... right? Not the same boy with the same tousled blonde hair and the same piercing green eyes... right?!
Okay, the panic was coming back now. Blinking harshly, Marinette scooted away, jostling Adrien from her lap as her back collided with the tree.
He sat up with a frown, looking at her worriedly. “Marinette?”
She shook her head quickly, memories racing through her thoughts at a breakneck pace. She had seen Adrien and Chat Noir at the same time. Hadn’t she?
“I-I’m sorry... I was only joking. We can go back to class now, Marinette. I promise we won’t be late.”
Adrien’s eyes were round and concerned, looking at her as though he was afraid she might break.
Sucking in a stuttering breath, Marinette slowly began to steel herself. Maybe it was just a coincidence. Maybe she only thought she heard him say sick day. Maybe it was something Adrien said all the time with someone else.
“I d-don’t... where did you hear those words?” she demanded, her heart thundering in her ears.
His frown deepened and he tilted his head with confusion. “What words?”
“T-the ones you said before... a-about taking a sick day.”
Adrien stiffened, his eyes darting away from her face before he quickly relaxed, shrugging casually. “I’m not too sure. I, uh, use it with a friend sometimes... I think. I don’t know. It’s a pretty common phrase, isn’t it?”
He looked over at her and now he looked suspicious of her. Oh my god, it really was him. Adrien was her Chat Noir. How could it have taken her this long to notice?
Marinette wrestled with her feelings. On the one hand, she was overjoyed at the idea that she might have finally found her kitten. On the other, she was overwhelmed with panic.
Hesitantly, she decided to test him once again. “Don’t you think someone might notice if we take too many sick days?”
“I don’t know,” Adrien replied quickly, “It depends on how many sick days we’ve already had before. Wouldn’t this be our first one?”
“Would it?”
The two of them stared into the other’s eyes. Neither of them wanting to be the one to say what they were both thinking.
Adrien broke first. “M’lady?” he whispered almost inaudibly, the word practically falling from his lips.
The giddiness won. Throwing her arms around him, Marinette moved closer and buried her head in his neck. “Mon minou! It is you!”
He stood up quickly, twirling her around in his arms. She squealed, tightening her grip around him.
After a while, Adrien put her back down, searching her eyes beseechingly. “I love you. So, so much! And I am willing to wait a million years for you if I have to. Because, Marinette, my bugaboo, it has only ever been you for me. No one else. Only you.”
Her eyes watered as she blinked back tears of happiness. It was time.
“I-I love you too, Adrien. And it’s only been you for me too, you know. Even when I thought I moved on to Chat, it was because I saw you staring back at me.”
He kissed her, picking her up once more as he pressed his lips against hers desperately. It was so similar and yet so different from the kisses that they had shared before. Because this time... this time they didn’t have to worry about identities or secrets. It was just them.
When Adrien finally pulled back, there was a clear gleam in his eyes. “I suppose now I don’t have to pretend to be jealous about that kiss you shared with Chat Noir.”
Marinette giggled, rolling her eyes. Shoving his chest lightly, she said, “Shut up, you dork. We’re going to be late for class.”
“Aw, but m’lady, I thought we were gonna take another sick day.”
“We already had one last night. We can’t afford to take another.”
“Ahh, you’re right. Paris might start to get suspicious.”
Marinette glanced at Adrien from the corner of her eye before reaching down and taking his hand in hers. He squeezed it tightly as they both made their way into the school, the bell for class ringing in their ears. Yep, they were definitely late.

Good Night Kiss
This chapter concludes my journey into Adrienette April :). I hope you enjoyed reading my oneshots! Please lemme know what you think. This one’s ending is my fave just cuz of how soft it is hhahaha. Also, stay tuned for my Marichat May oneshots next month if you’d like to read those as well!
AO3
Marinette was currently wrapped wonderfully in Adrien’s arms. They were on her chaise, a laptop playing a movie in front of them. He had taken to sneaking out at night from the mansion to come and see her.
Usually, she would frown at the action. After all, she didn’t want to be the one getting Adrien in trouble. Especially when it was for something he shouldn’t be getting in trouble for. But, for now, it was the only way that they could spend time together.
Gabriel had all but forbade her from entering the mansion unless she broke up with Adrien. And that wasn’t happening. Not anytime soon at least.
Marinette squeezed the arm that was wrapped around her waist. A kiss brushed against her head in response, causing a small grin to spread on her face.
He was so sweet. She loved him so much.
After a short while, their movie ended and she watched Adrien glance at the time. Her heart clenched at the sight. She didn’t want him to go. At least... not yet.
They both slowly sat up and she instantly wanted to be back in his arms. She never wanted to leave. Closing the lid on her laptop, she couldn’t help but give a small sigh. Maybe she could try and get him to stay... just for a little longer.
With her decision made, she placed her hand on his. “Stay, please. At least for us to play a round of Ultimate Mecha Strike III,” Marinette murmured.
She gave him a smile, hoping that it was convincing enough to make him stay. Adrien simply chuckled, flipping his hand around to intertwine their fingers. He brought her hand up, kissing the back of it and causing all of her breath to woosh out of her in a rush.
“Of course, I can stay for a little longer for you, Marinette.” He winked at her, causing her heart to flutter.
Grinning, she pulled him to his feet, dragging him over to the chairs by her computer. There, she booted up the game, taking her time to defeat him. If only to prolong his staying for just a few moments more.
“I win again,” Marinette cheered with a bright beam etched on her face.
Adrien shook his head even as his eyes glimmered at her playfully. “This is unfair. You’re just too good, Marinette.”
Marinette laughed, enjoying the playful banter between them. “Maybe you just need to practice more,” she teased.
Adrien jutted his lip out in a big pout, looking like such an adorable puppy dog. For a brief moment, her eyes glanced down at that pout, wondering why it looked so kissable. She was tempted to swoop down and capture those pretty, peach lips but before she could, anxiety hit her.
What if he didn’t want to kiss her? What if she kissed him wrong? What if this was still all a big joke pulled off by Chloé?
As soon as the thoughts came, Marinette managed to shake them away. They were wrong. Even though she knew she was wrong, that Adrien truly loved her at least half as much as she did for him, she couldn’t stop the churning in her gut.
Steeling herself with a deep breath, she tuned back in to what he was saying.
“One day I swear I’m gonna find a way to beat you,” Adrien said, shaking his head as he leaned back in his chair. A tiny smirk was on his face as he gazed at her.
“Practice makes perfect,” Marinette sang.
Before she could make another comment, though, a quiet alarm rang through the room. Marinette jumped, looking around with surprise. The first thing she thought was that it was an akuma attack and she dreaded having to rush Adrien out so that she could go and fight it.
However, after a brief moment of panic, she noticed that it was coming from Adrien’s phone which was buzzing on the counter.
He looked morose as he turned the alarm off, sliding the phone back into his pocket. Looking at her with a pair of sad, puppy dog eyes, he gave her a half-hearted grin. “Sorry, Marinette but I really have to get back now. It’s pretty late and if my father or Nathalie realizes that I’m out then I may not be able to visit you anymore.”
Marinette’s heart sank at the thought of Adrien leaving, but she knew that he was right. If he got caught, it would only make things worse for the two of them.
Even though both of them wanted him to stay desperately, she knew it would only lead to trouble later on. She didn’t even want to think about Adrien getting caught.
Hiding a shudder, Marinette nodded her head, hoping her smile didn’t look as forced as it felt. “Of course, Adrien. I wouldn’t want you to get in trouble.”
They both stood up, climbing up her bed before heading outside using the trapdoor just above their heads. She didn’t know or even want to know, how exactly he did it, but Adrien managed to climb both up and down her balcony every night whenever he snuck inside. It was like he was a superhero or something...
With her heart heavy in her chest, she gave him a small wave. “Goodnight, Adrien. Thank you so much for coming over. You’re always welcome here. Anytime.”
Marinette turned around, about to head back inside before she had to watch him do anything too dangerous, a hand on her wrist stopped her. She turned around, blinking at the serious expression on Adrien’s face.
“Adrien, are you alright?” she asked. Did he not want to go down from the balcony this time? Did he hurt his leg somehow on the trip up here?
Before she could spiral any further, Adrien squeezed her wrist lightly, shifting from foot to foot. He looked determined, but also a little nervous. “Marinette... I-I was wondering if you could do me a favor?”
“Yeah, of course!” she said, nodding her head eagerly.
Anything.
She’d do anything for him right now. Especially if it meant he got to stay longer.
She’d probably jump off the roof if he asked. Of course... he didn’t need to know that she had magical jewelry and could transform with two words, saving her from what was sure to be a fatal collision.
“W-would it be possible if I could have a kiss good night?” Adrien scratched the back of his neck. He gazed down at her, looking hopeful.
Marinette couldn’t help tensing. She was sure her eyes widened and her mouth gaped as she looked up at him.
He was asking her for a kiss? A kiss that she had wanted to give him nearly every second of their time together but had been too afraid to.
She gnawed on her lower lip, feeling the anxiety come flooding back.
But this was Adrien. And hadn’t she just thought that she’d do anything for him?
Letting the Ladybug courage fuel her, Marinette nodded her head with determination. “O-okay.”
Stepping up on her tip-toes, she very lightly pressed a kiss to his left cheek. Laying her feet flat on the ground again, she gave him a shy grin. Her cheeks were flushed as Marinette peeked up at him from beneath her lashes. “Goodnight, Adrien.”
“And, um, would you be okay giving me one more on the other cheek? J-just so it doesn’t feel left out.” Adrien tapped his right cheek, looking even more hopeful than he had previously.
She couldn’t help but giggle. Some of her anxiety faded as he laughed along with her. Suddenly, she felt very grateful for his joke.
Standing up on her tip-toes once more, she brushed another kiss on his other cheek. When Marinette leaned back down, she couldn’t help but notice that Adrien now also seemed a little pink.
“W-what about my nose?” He tapped it. “I think it would like a good night kiss too.”
“Of course,” she shook her head fondly as the last of her worries seemed to disappear. How did Adrien always know just what to say?
Leaning back up, Marinette gently pecked the very tip of his nose. Just inches away from his face, she whispered, “I wouldn’t want him to be lonely either.”
“A-and what about just a little bit lower, maybe?” He bit his lip, drawing her attention to it once more.
Slowly, ever so slowly, Marinette pressed her lips to the spot just above his own. She lingered there, feeling his lips graze her chin with just the slightest hint of pressure.
Her eyes fluttered closed as she rocked back down, feeling slightly dizzy even though she didn’t actually kiss him.
Adrien cleared his throat, causing her eyes to slowly open once again. His blush had gotten darker and his own eyes looked glazed. “Uh, m-maybe just a little bit lower than that?”
Blood rushed into her ears before she gave a hesitant nod of her head. A small smile twitched on her face before Marinette leaned up once more. This time she pressed a kiss just below his lips. A tingle shot up her spine as she felt them quiver on the bridge of her nose.
Feeling even more lightheaded, she felt the edges of her lips quirk up even higher. “Was that enough good night kisses?”
“Maybe,” Adrien said, his voice cracking ever so slightly. He cleared his throat again. “Maybe just one more. A-a little bit higher than that?”
This time there was no hesitation. Marinette surged to him, connecting their lips in a fiery kiss. The moon and the stars twinkled above them as she wrapped her arms around his neck, deepening the kiss as she tilted her head. He wrapped his own around her waist, pulling her to him just as tightly.
Finally... finally... finally she was able to kiss him without fear or doubts. And it felt truly wonderful.
When Marinette needed to catch her breath, she pulled back, leaning her forehead against his. Panting ever so slightly, she giggled. “You’re gonna be late, you know.”
“I don’t think I care anymore,” Adrien murmured before pressing his lips to hers once more. She smiled into the kiss, enjoying these last few moments before she forced him to go home. After all, she wanted more good night kisses.

Pancakes
Another day is finished!! I hope you guys enjoy this chapter! It can technically be seen as a prequel to yesterday’s chapter if you’d like hahah. Also, it’s set post-Pretension so plz watch that ep first <3
AO3
Marinette slid a bag in front of Adrien’s desk before sliding into the empty seat beside him. Nino wasn’t here yet so she had time. She gestured to the bag with a small grin, her eyes gleaming. “I know I didn’t get to try your father’s pancakes yesterday but when he listed the recipe he was using...”
She trailed off with a shiver, shaking her head amusedly. Adrien laughed, digging into the bag, and pulled out a covered box with stacks of pancakes. The lid was fogged with steam, the pancakes having just been made this morning.
“Anyway, I decided to try and make pancakes using my own recipe. They’re vanilla passion fruit. I know you usually like them plain but I wanted you to try these first,” she finished proudly.
Unlike the banana pancakes which Gabriel had made for him, passion fruit was Adrien’s favorite flavor. Marinette was almost positive that once he got a taste for these pancakes, he’d never want them plain again.
His eyes lit up and he eagerly cut into one of the pancakes, popping it in his mouth with a delighted hum. Her smile grew wider at the noise. He liked them!
“Marinette, these are absolutely delicious!” Adrien said, already spearing off another forkful. “How did you know passion fruit was my favorite?!”
She absentmindedly made a noise, waving the question away. She had poured through multiple magazines in order to find out Adrien’s favorite everythings! And, well, now it seemed to have paid off.
He liked her pancake’s more than his father’s and that made her very pleased. Especially when considering that Gabriel had practically kicked her out yesterday.
Though none of that really mattered. All that mattered was that Adrien was happy.
Marinette’s gaze slid back over to him, her eyes softening. She blinked in slight surprise when she saw a fork hovering in front of her mouth. Her mouth watered as the aroma of her pancakes wafted around her.
There was a slight smile on Adrien’s lips as he nodded his head down at the forkful of the delectable food. “Do you want to try some?”
She laughed, pushing the fork away with a shake of her own head. “Oh no, that’s alright, Adrien. I made them for you. ”
“Aw, come on, the chef doesn’t want to try her own creation?” Adrien asked, waving the fork back and forth temptingly.
Marinette gave him a deadpan look. Shaking her head once more with a quiet snicker, she said, “Thank you, but I really am alright. I already had breakfast this morning.”
Her thoughts turned to the lonely, quick bowl of cereal she had eaten. Marinette had spent the majority of her time that morning working on the very pancakes in front of her. And boy, did they smell good.
“So did I.” His grin got larger, looking more mischievous. “My father made his pancakes this morning.”
Marinette’s brow furrowed, for the first time wondering if she had made the wrong decision bringing in pancakes. Even though she had heard Adrien make numerous comments about how Gabriel’s pancakes never tasted quite right, she couldn’t help but think that she shouldn’t have made her own. Maybe Gabriel just needed time to figure out what Adrien liked and didn’t.
A small, petty side of her piped up that even with all of the time in the world, that man would never learn what his son enjoyed and dislike. That he was too focused on literally anything else.
“Even though your pancakes blow his out of the water,” Adrien said, his eyes gleaming and causing Marinette’s head to perk back up.
Instantly, her worries disappeared. He did prefer her pancakes! She was definitely going to be making him more!
“But I’m much too full to eat all of these! Please, Marinette, won’t you try some?” His peach-pink lips formed a small pout. He tilted his head at her adorably, pleading at her with his big, puppy-dog eyes.
She couldn’t help but laugh. “Oh, alright.”
Honestly, Marinette really did want to try them. Her stomach was practically growling. Telling her that her pancakes would surely hit the spot.
Reaching forward, she tried to take the fork from him. Adrien simply moved it back though, wiggling his eyebrows at her playfully.
She raised one of her own eyebrows, looking at him incredulously. Didn’t he just say that he wanted her to try them?
He moved the fork back in front of her, an ear-splitting, cheeky grin on his face. Marinette glanced between him and the utensil, feeling her cheeks turn pink as she understood what he wanted.
Holding back both a long-suffering sigh and what would most likely turn out to be an ear-piercing squeal, Marinette leaned forward, wrapping her lips around the pancake. The flavor practically exploded on her tongue, causing her eyes to flutter closed as she hummed with delight.
Leaning back, she chewed, enjoying the sweet taste of passion fruit and the slight hint of vanilla. When Marinette swallowed, she slowly opened her eyes, giving him a soft grin. “Mmm, you were right! Those are delicious.”
“Do you, um, want another bite?” Adrien coughed. He was cutting off another slice of pancake. His other hand not cutting was clenched into a fist by his mouth. And, was that a slight blush on his cheeks, or was she just imagining things?
Feeling her own flush darken, Marinette slowly nodded. This time, when Adrien moved the fork in front of her, she wrapped her hand around his. Butterflies roared to life in her stomach as she saw his lips part slightly.
This time, she barely noticed the flavor of the pancake as she leaned back, too absorbed in the way that Adrien’s eyes had darted to her lips. Her tongue flitted out, licking the remaining crumbs off of her lips. Adrien tracked the movement and the butterflies turned into a crescendo.
“What are you two dudes doing?”
A voice broke her out of her haze and it took Marinette a second before she registered who it was. Shaking her head to clear it, she managed to tear her gaze away from Adrien to look up at Nino. He was smirking down at them, his expression one of fond amusement.
Her face flamed and she stood up, digging her teeth into her lower lip. “I, uh, made pancakes.”
“Y-yeah, they’re absolutely delicious! Do you want a bite?” Adrien stuttered.
“Nah, I’m good,” Nino said with a laugh.
“W-well, I hope you like the rest of the pancakes, Adrien.”
Shooting him a small smile, Marinette quickly scuttled back to her seat. She avoided Alya’s knowing, mischievous smile and practically dove into her backpack. Slowly, when she felt the blush fade away, she pulled out her notebooks, ready for class to start.

Protective
Just a short lil oneshot for today’s chapter. But it is entirely based off of the ep Derision so if you haven’t seen that yet please do before reading! The prompt was too perfect for me to not base it off of that haha. Protective bf Adrien is the besttttt! Lemme know what you think <3
AO3
As Kim recited the prank he played on Marinette last year, anger coursed through Adrien’s veins. His fists clenched tight with rage. Avoiding the other boy’s gaze, Adrien glared down at the pool tiles.
This was the first time in his life that he could ever remember feeling like this. Like he wanted to punch Kim’s smiling, carefree face. Like he wanted to go to Chloé and threaten her so that she finally apologized to Marinette for all the years of hurt and abuse she caused.
It was no wonder Marinette had hated him once she had heard that he was friends with Chloé. But not anymore. His friendship with her was completely over! No longer did Marinette have to worry about him staying with Chloé.
She had hurt the person he loved. And for that, Adrien had to make her understand what an awful decision that was. Their childhood friendship didn’t matter anymore. The person she had become was too different from that young girl that he had first known all those years ago.
He heard Ondine say something else but was too lost in his feelings to register what it was. It was taking all of his strength to not give in to the rage that was simmering just underneath the surface.
How could Kim do that to Marinette? To sweet, kind Marinette? A girl that only wanted to share her feelings with a boy who was completely undeserving of them.
How could he just sit there in the pool like that? With a smile like they were the ones being unreasonable!
Adrien’s fists shook and he took a deep, calming breath. He couldn’t attack Kim. Not here. Even though his instincts were screaming at him to transform, dive into that water, and then cataclysm that smile away.
It was no wonder Marinette had such a hard time sharing her feelings if this is what happened to her the first time she finally did!
He wanted to run to her right now and just wrap her in a tight, protective hug. He’d whisper reassurances of how he’d never do what Kim did. Could never even dream of it! He’d stroke his fingers through her soft hair, placing a gentle peck on the top of her head and tell her that he understood now.
Adrien ground his teeth together, feeling the anger bubbling within him once again as Kim swam away from him and Ondine. He couldn't understand why Kim would betray Marinette's trust like that. She had poured her heart out to him, confessing her feelings with vulnerability and courage, and Kim had callously dismissed her. Adrien's heart ached for Marinette, and he felt an overwhelming urge to comfort her.
Taking another deep breath, Adrien tried to push down his anger and focus on the situation at hand. Confronting Kim would do no one any good. And he seriously needed to get a handle on his emotions before Monarch akumatized him.
The dizzying anger faded ever so slightly as he heard Marinette call his name from around the corner. Turning to look at her with a small smile on his lips, his head quickly snapped back to the pool as he saw an akumatized Kim floating above it.
The rage came flooding back even as a sick, primal part of him was pleased. Good. Now he had a reason to hurt him. And Ladybug would be able to fix everything with her lucky charm. Grabbing Marinette’s arm, Adrien made sure that she was safe, away from Kim, in a locker room before he ran into his own.
He transformed into Chat Noir as quickly as possible. He was going to make Kim hurt! Just like he had hurt Marinette.
Letting his anger guide him, Chat landed in a park nearby the pool with Ladybug next to him. His lips twitched slightly as he saw the laughing, carefree villain. This time, he didn’t reign in his roiling emotions.
Extending his baton, he hit Kim as hard as he possibly could. He was knocked back far and Chat pounced after him with an even rougher kick. Faintly, he heard Ladybug screaming at him to stop in the background but that didn’t seem at all important.
Kim was still smiling. Chat absolutely shook with fury at the sight. That smile couldn’t stay. And if he couldn’t wipe it off with his baton or kicks then he would cataclysm it off. He deserved it for hurting Marinette.
Calling on his power, he was about to slam it directly onto Kim’s face when it was suddenly tugged back. Eyes widening with surprise, he looked back to see Ladybug. She was staring at him with horror and finally, the anger went away leaving only remorse and guilt.
Before he could apologize or roll off of Kim, though, Chat was suddenly hit by a profound sense of euphoria. All at once, nothing mattered. All he wanted to do was laugh and have fun.
Vaguely, in the back of his mind, he knew that Kim had struck him with the power of the monkey. And yet, Chat didn’t seem to care about the miraculous anymore. Skipping away from the akumatized villain, he danced around with the pretty balls that his cataclysm was somehow making.
It was only when Ladybug had destroyed the akuma and saved the day that Chat came back to his senses. Though the euphoria was now gone so was the righteous anger that he had felt prior. Now, all he was left with was the urge to go and see Marinette.
That way, he could do what he should have done all along. Wrap her up in a tight embrace and tell her that everything would be okay. He’d keep her safe now. And, even more importantly, he’d wait until she was ready to reveal her feelings for him. He’d wait forever if it meant that he’d be able to kiss her once more.
With that plan settled deep within his heart, he couldn’t wait to get back to the pool and detransform. Seeing Marinette would make everything better. Just like it always did.

Roles Reversed
Anddd here’s the second and final chapter for the day! A bit of reverse love square bc a smitten Adrien is my fave Adrien! Wish we had gotten this for a bit longer in s5 :’).
AO3
Shifting his bag, Adrien looked up at the bakery hopefully. He was currently standing outside those doors, waiting for the best moment to go in and hopefully get a chance to see Marinette.
Yes, Adrien Agreste was completely and utterly smitten by Marinette Dupain-Cheng. He knew that the very first day he met her.
Though they hadn’t gotten off on the right foot, he was positively determined to make her one of his first friends. And, yet, when that thunder sounded in the distance and he blinked down into a pair of curious, sapphire blue eyes he found himself wanting more. And then that umbrella snapped down on her head filling him with such euphoria he couldn’t help laughing.
That was the day his crush started. It evolved quickly after that. Growing into something bigger each day Adrien saw her kindness and utter brilliance.
Yes, he was absolutely smitten with her. If only she noticed him.
No matter how often he flirted with her, it seemed like Marinette would only ever shake her head or roll her eyes. Like she didn’t quite believe he was being serious.
Adrien couldn’t help but wonder if that did have something to do with the gum incident. Perhaps she still blamed him for trying to fix one of Chloé’s pranks.
But, he was determined to win her over. Just like that day in the rain he’d show her his heart and get her to realize that his love for her was true.
Sucking in a deep breath and summoning some of his Chat Noir courage, Adrien pushed his way through those doors. The bells chimed above him and all at once his nerves completely vanished the second that he saw Marinette’s smiling face.
A goofy grin spread across his cheeks as he found himself drawn towards her. “Fancy seeing you here, Marinette.”
She scoffed, shaking her head at him even as her smile grew wider. “Yes, fancy seeing me at the bakery I live and work at.”
Adrien leaned across the counter, trying to memorize her face. She was so pretty. Even when she was looking at him like he was absolutely insane.
Her eyebrow slowly rose as he continued to just stare. “Did you want to buy a croissant? Or maybe a macaron?”
“What if I told you I came by just to see you?”
Marinette’s lips parted with surprise. She blinked down at him before the confusion slowly faded to a look of utter amusement. “I’d say that you could have asked to hang out instead of simply coming to the bakery.”
Adrien chuckled, his eyes glimmering at her playfully. “Ah, but would you have said yes?”
Her expression softened before she nodded her head. “Of course, I would have, Adrien. We’re friends. We can hang out any time you’re free. I know you’re usually busy with your father’s photoshoots, though.”
And there was the word. The word that he had come to utterly loathe. Even though it should have lifted his spirits, it instead caused his hopes to crash down. Friend. That’s all she’d ever see of him.
Marinette must have seen his face fall because she instantly perked up, grabbing a croissant and pink macaron before placing them into a bag. “You look hungry, Adrien. Why don’t you eat these? And, maybe, on my break we can find some time to meet up in the park. Would that be alright?”
He cheered up quite quickly, grabbing the bag from her and nodding his head eagerly. “That’d be absolutely lovely, Marinette. Thank you for finding the time to meet up with me.”
“No problem, Adrien.” She winked at him and his heart fluttered. So adorable. “I know how hard it is for you to find time to meet up with friends, so of course we can meet up whenever you have free time.”
He beamed at her. Marinette was just so warm and caring. It was no wonder he loved her. Now if only he could get her to love him too.
Paying for the treats, he then reached over and took the bag from her. Adrien’s heart quickened as their fingers brushed. A shiver ran down his spine at the touch. Was his mind playing tricks on him or were Marinette’s cheeks slightly pink?
But, within the next second, the blush was gone and she was grinning at him once more. “My break is in an hour. Will you still have time to go with me to the park?”
Adrien nodded eagerly. All his father needed to know was that he decided to take some time to study after his fencing lessons. It’s not like he ever noticed he was gone when he was Chat Noir.
“I’ll always have time for you, Marinette.”
“You’re so silly, Adrien.” She giggled, tapping his nose from across the counter.
He should have felt disappointed but instead, he just felt completely lovestruck. She touched his nose! That was two touches from the girl of his dreams on the same day. And, wasn’t that truly wonderful?
Giving her a dazed wave, Adrien turned around and sat down at one of the empty tables. Pulling out the croissant, he practically devoured it while he waited. It was positively delicious.
He was definitely going to have to summon the courage to confess to her later today. Maybe that would convince her that he was serious about his feelings for her. But, then again, wouldn’t it be better if he designed an elaborate date idea before confessing?
Yep, it would definitely be best to save the emotional confession over a moonlit dinner by the Eiffel Tower. Ooh, or maybe even a date on a boat on the Seine!
It was decided then. He was definitely going to save the confession. Today Adrien would just continue flirting with her. Maybe he could even see if Marinette would be willing to go on a date with him by the Eiffel Tower.
Casting a quick glance over at her, he felt his cheeks warm when he noticed that she was already staring. Marinette simply grinned and waved at him, completely unaware that all Adrien could think about was finding a way to woo her.
She mouthed I’ll be out in a minute and he quickly straightened up. He was definitely going to think of this as their first date.
Maybe he could even figure out a way to hold her hand.
Even just thinking about it sent tingles up his hand. Stretching his hand out, Adrien glanced at the clock. He couldn’t wait until it was time for her break!

Yes Hand/No Hand
Andddd here’s the second and final chapter for today! I hope you guys like both! Lemme know what you thought. Ooh, but also please don’t read this if you haven’t seen Kwami’s Choice yet bc it contains spoilers!
AO3
Adrien’s eyes instantly lit up as he spotted Marinette. She was humming quietly to herself, carefully placing books in her backpack from her locker. He practically skipped over to her, desperate to see her after their conversation yesterday. He had gotten her to reveal her true feelings to him yesterday. And, though Adrien now had his kwami back he was determined to be in a relationship with Marinette.
He loved her. It had just happened so slowly over time that he hadn’t realized it until it was almost too late. She had almost given up on him because of how long it took him to realize his feelings. So, from now on, Adrien was focused on making sure Marinette knew just how much he completely and utterly adored her.
Plus, it didn’t hurt that he had a new method that helped her to speak her mind.
“Guess who?” He breathed quietly into Marinette’s ear, enjoying her adorable squeak as she whirled around, bumping against his chest lightly.
There was a pretty pink flush to her cheeks as she stuttered, “A-Adrien! H-hi! W-what, um, what are you going here? D-doing! What are you doing here?”
A slow, adoring smile grew on his face as he gazed down at her. How could she be so cute?
“I’m getting my books from my locker.”
“O-oh, right.” Marinette bit her lower lip, peeking up from beneath her lashes.
Boy, that look was going to absolutely kill him. Adrien’s heart stumbled in his chest and he allowed himself to get lost in her eyes. How had it taken him so long to realize his feelings were more than just friendship? This felt so familiar.
Slowly, though, as he found himself at a loss for words he saw Marinette’s eyes begin to widen with panic. Shaking his head, Adrien snapped himself out of it before he completely spooked her and caused her to bolt out of the locker room.
“That’s not the only reason I’m here, though. I was also looking for you.” His voice was quiet and soft. Unable to stop himself, he brushed a stray strand of hair out of her face, his hand lingering on her cheek.
“M-me?! You were looking for me?” Her eyes practically bulged out of her head and Adrien felt suddenly anxious.
Too much too soon! Snapping his hand back to his side, he scratched the back of his neck, feeling suddenly awkward. Clearing his throat, he said, “Yeah. I, uh, actually had a few questions I wanted to ask you.”
Marinette still looked tense and ready to bolt. Determined to make her more comfortable, Adrien exhaled for a while before asking, “Did you maybe want to do what we did last time? Remember? With your right hand for yes and your left hand for no?”
Instantly, her shoulders loosened and he felt relief consume him. Slowly, she nodded at him, looking adorably shy. Her right hand came up as an indication of yes and slowly he began to feel nervous. It was time to finally ask Marinette out.
Sucking in a shaky breath for courage, Adrien asked, “I was wondering if you’d like to hang out with me.”
There was a small pause where his nerves began to get the best of him before her right hand rose again. Joy like he’d never felt before flooded his senses, making him almost envelop her in a giant hug.
Stifling the urge, he continued to ask the series of questions he had prepared, “Are you free this weekend?”
Faster this time, Marinette’s right hand rose.
A giant smile stretched across his face at her answer. “Would you like to go see a movie?”
She looked a little dazed at his question and Adrien wondered for a second if she’d prefer something else before her right hand eventually rose. Yes! He was now three for three.
Feeling more confident, he continued, “And would you be alright getting ice cream with me afterward?”
Once again, her right hand rose. Marinette was nibbling on her lip, gazing up at him hopefully.
This was it. It was time for his final question. Adrien suddenly felt overwhelmed with anxiety. This was the most important question. And, truthfully, it felt like all his hopes and dreams were resting on her answer.
“A-and is it alright if we call it a date?” He held his breath, crossing his fingers behind his back. Please, please, please ! I promise that I’ll always love you and treat you right, he pleaded in his thoughts.
Quick as a flash, her left hand rose and his hopes crashed to the floor. Adrien was rather certain that his face fell right along with them. He was flooded with an even worse sense of rejection than he had ever gotten from Ladybug.
But it didn’t matter! Marinette had loved him for so long whilst he had no idea! The least that he could do was try to be her friend once again. Even if all he wanted to do was kiss her again. Slowly, though, he’d prove that he was the right guy for her!
He’d somehow manage to calm his feelings down and be her friend first and foremost! But, somehow he’d woo her! If he made her fall in love with him once he could definitely do it again.
Nodding to himself with determination, Adrien opened his mouth to agree that it was too quick.
Before he could, though, he heard Marinette giggle. “Oh, oops!”
Slowly she took down her left hand and rose her right one. She bit her lip even as she smiled. “S-sorry. I, um, got my right and left confused again.”
Adrien sputtered out an exhilarated laugh. Shaking his head at her amusedly. “You have to stop doing that! There’s only so much my poor heart can take.”
She flushed, looking down at the ground embarrassedly.
“But that’s a yes, then? Yes, it’s a date?”
Waiting with bated breath, he watched as Marinette rose her right hand even higher, nodding her head. Adrien let out a cheer before scooping her up in his arms and twirling her around giddily. He planted a quick kiss on her cheek, enjoying her squeals of laughter.
“I love you so much!”
Marinette covered her face with both hands, still a mess of giggles when he finally put her back down on the ground. “So, this weekend will be our first date. Can I pick you up at noon?”
She uncovered her face, a bright red flush on her cheeks before she nodded. “T-that sounds wonderful, Adrien.”
Kissing her one last time on the cheek, he sent her a bright beam. “I’ll see you then. I’m looking forward to it.”
Leaving the locker room with a skip in his step, Adrien completely forgot about the books he was still missing. But it didn’t matter! He was going on a date soon! With Marinette! Best day ever!

Kwagatama
Oof, sorry this chapter is late D:. I’ve been superrr busy lately!! Anywho, I hope you enjoy this lil reveal fic. It does contain spoilers for Reunion so if you haven’t seen that ep plz do before reading. Ooh and if you’re planning on staying up for the new ep like I am later today feel free to rant with me about it haha!
AO3
Marinette wanted to choke. At present, she was struggling to breathe. Inhaling and exhaling in short bouts of panic. Because, right now, around Adrien’s neck that he was proudly showing off to Nino during their lunch break was a kwagatama.
Something that she knew without a doubt was a kwagatama. Something that she had only just used to contact Joan of Arc about her feelings for Chat Noir. Something that was currently tucked away in her backpack right now.
Unlike her red one though, Adrien’s was black.
Marinette was struggling to shove the realization of what that meant into the back of her mind.
Because it couldn’t be... it just couldn’t.
She couldn’t have fallen in love with Adrien only to fall straight back into love with him without realizing it. Could she have?
Marinette quickly needed to get her thoughts under control though because Adrien was currently approaching her with a shy, sweet smile on his lips. Her eyes darted around, looking for an excuse to bolt but came up short.
She leaned her elbow on the table, scrambling when it collided directly with her tray. Cursing herself, Marinette quickly put it back on the table with what she hoped was a casual smile. In reality, though, it probably looked more like a grimace.
“Hi, Marinette,” he said before quickly sliding into the seat next to her.
“O-oh, hello Adrien. W-what are you doing here?” Her palm itched to slap her face. How was she still so tongue-tied around him?
Because you love him. Both in and out of the mask, Marinette’s thoughts supplied unhelpfully.
Okay, the panic was coming back with a vengeance now.
Adrien chuckled and gestured to his own tray of food. “Just finishing up my lunch. Like you.”
“R-right.” She nodded her head rapidly, probably looking like an animated bobblehead.
Her eyes darted down to the black kwagatama that was still sitting so proudly on his neck. It couldn’t have come from any other kwami besides Plagg. Monarch had the rest and Alix had gotten her blue one from Fluff already.
The only other kwami that wasn’t in Monarch’s clutches was Chat Noir’s. And, didn’t it just make sense for Plagg to give Adrien a kwagatama after Marinette had used it to talk to some of the previous holders?
Gulping down a harsh breath of air, Marinette shoved her panic down. “What, um... what were you showing Nino earlier?”
“Oh, this?” Adrien looked down at his necklace with a bright smile. He pulled it up, showing it to her proudly. “A friend made it for me. Isn’t it great!”
A friend. With the panic gone a wave of amusement hit her. She could practically picture Adrien’s face as Plagg threw up on him. She wondered if it was anything like hers when Tikki gave her that birthday gift.
Marinette leaned closer, delicately running her finger over the kwagatama. It was the real deal alright. It perfectly matched hers. It was both the same size and shape and also had that round hole in the top.
There was officially no doubt left in her mind. Adrien was her Chaton. And that meant that she had truly fallen for the same person twice.
“It’s pretty,” she murmured, peering up at Adrien. His eyes widened as he looked down at her, his cheeks flushed a pretty pink.
Her own face flamed as Marinette quickly threw herself back into her seat. She cleared her throat before gesturing to the necklace. “I-I mean that it, uh... it goes well with the color of your eyes.”
“Thank you,” he practically squeaked.
A giddy sense of satisfaction shot through her. She had made Adrien... Chat Noir... flustered.
But if she had fallen for the same person twice then maybe, just maybe, Adrien had done the same.
Nibbling on her lower lip, Marinette gathered her courage and glanced around conspiratorially before leaning back in. Adrien seemed to unconsciously lean forward to, causing her palms to sweat as he stared directly into her eyes.
“What um... what if I told you I had something pretty similar on me right now?” she whispered, crossing her fingers that he would understand.
Adrien simply hummed, “Mhm.” Nodding his head, he moved ever so slightly closer to her.
Marinette’s eyes darted down to his lips once before she ripped herself away from the temptation. She practically dove for her backpack, pulling out the kwagatama that Tikki had given her.
Cupping it in her hand, she carefully showed it to him. He glanced down at it once, rather quickly before his gaze met hers once again. Her heart began to pound in her chest as Adrien continued staring at her until eventually, a frown marred his brow.
This time he looked down for much longer. He placed his hands under hers, running his fingers over the kwagatama in her palms.
Adrien’s lips had parted before a bright smile lit up his face as he looked back up at her. “Marinette! T-this is...!”
“Shh! Yes! I know. Just like yours is also...,” she trailed off, nodding down at his necklace.
He nodded his head eagerly before searching her gaze. He must have found what he was looking for because the next thing Marinette knew, Adrien was throwing his head back in a laugh that had butterflies fluttering in her stomach.
“It was you! Oh, of course, it was you! How did it take me so long to realize?!”
Marinette couldn't help the smile that spread across her face in response to his infectious laughter. She had waited for this moment for so long, and now that it was finally here, she was filled with indescribable happiness. It was like the world had aligned just perfectly and everything was falling into place.
Adrien's face was still lit up with a wide grin as he leaned in closer to her. "Marinette... m’lady," he said, his tone low and intimate. "I've been meaning to tell you something for a little while now. E-even if you don’t feel the same."
Marinette's breath caught in her throat as she met his gaze. There was something about the way he was looking at her, with such intensity and sincerity, that it made her heart race with anticipation.
This was it. There was no more running. No more hiding her feelings for both Adrien and Chat Noir. So, this time, she was going to stay and listen to what he had to say.
Adrien reached out, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. Heat rose to her cheeks and she ducked her head down, suddenly feeling shy.
"I've been wanting to tell you that... I think I’ve been falling in love with you.”
Marinette’s head popped up, her lower lip wobbling as emotion hit her. These were the words that she had been desperate to hear for so long and now they were finally here. Adrien loved her!
“And I know... I know that I’ve already told you this more times than I can count.” He paused, chuckling. “But I just needed you to know. Needed you to know that I’ve fallen for you twice now. I also understand that you’re in love with someone else, though.”
“You’re wrong,” Marinette sniffled, shaking her head. “Adrien, the person I’ve been in love with all this time was you. It always has been. Even when I thought I moved on and realized that I was also falling in love with my Chaton.”
She ran the back of her hand down his cheek, experiencing true joy as Adrien’s eyes fluttered closed and he nuzzled into her touch. A shiver jolted down her spine when his eyes opened and connected with hers.
“You love me?” he whispered.
“Always have,” she murmured back.
The next thing Marinette knew, she was wrapped up in Adrien’s arms, their lips engaged in a soft, wondrous kiss. She threw her arms around his neck, kissing him back as a feeling of euphoria rose within her.
Eventually, she pulled back with a giggle. “I’m so glad Plagg gave you that.”
“Me too,” Adrien said before pulling her back in for another kiss.
Everything was right in the world. She got to love both her Chat Noir and her Adrien. Now, Marinette no longer needed to feel guilty for having feelings for two of the most important people in her life. Now, her stress and anxiety slowly faded away as his lips pressed against hers over and over again.

Pick-up Lines
Welcome to my daily dose of Adrienette fluff haha. That’s alllll this chapter is. Just Adrienette being a cute, flirty couple. It does contain some pretty general s5 spoilers so pls be aware of that before reading! Lemme know what you think!
AO3
Marinette and Adrien were in the cafeteria, enjoying their lunch break together. One of their hands was delicately entangled underneath the table causing Marinette’s heart to race.
How long had she dreamed of this very thing happening? And now, she got to hold Adrien’s hand anytime she wanted. Could even kiss him whenever she wanted! Honestly, dating him was a literal dream come true.
Finally, she felt comfortable with both herself and him. Her heart and brain knew that this wasn’t a prank anymore. Adrien truly did love her.
“What’s your favorite way of flirting?” Adrien asked her, chomping on an apple with his other hand.
Marinette blinked, feeling her cheeks pinken. Flirting? Before they were dating, she could barely even manage to stutter two words around him. Flirting would have been nice.
With a quiet giggle, she dug her teeth into her lower lip before avoiding his gaze. “Well... I don’t know if you could call it flirting exactly but I used to come up with these elaborate plans to confess. Uh, and most of them were centered around, well, y-you.”
Suddenly, Marinette felt vulnerable. Yes, Adrien knew that she had been in love with him for a while but it still felt awkward talking with him about it. Like she should still be protecting this part of her heart as she had done for so long.
Adrien chuckled and she finally managed to peek up at him from beneath her lashes. He was smiling, his emerald eyes glimmering at her playfully. He leaned forward, a smirk on his face that caused her to relax her tensed shoulders. “Ah, yes. My code name was Buttercup, right?”
Her eyes widened with shock. Anxiety and amusement wrestled for dominance inside of her before Marinette shook her head and the feelings away.
“H-how do you know about Buttercup?”
“A friend told me.” He winked at her.
An air of smugness surrounded him, almost like he knew something she didn’t. Ugh, she was so going to kill Alya after this. How could her best friend spoil her secret like that?
Feeling embarrassed, Marinette began to move the hand Adrien was holding back to her lap when he grabbed it before she could.
“I-I’m sorry. Was that too much? I just thought that those plans were really sweet,” he said. A crooked, shy grin was on his face, and suddenly he looked much more like Adrien.
“S-sweet, really?” Marinette stuttered, her face flaming. All at once, she wished she had gained the confidence to actually follow through with her plans. Maybe this could have happened much sooner if she had.
“Mhm,” he hummed with a nod of his head. “My flirting style is a lot cheesier.”
“Oh really?” she asked playfully. Marinette leaned in, a smile on her face as she rubbed her thumb over Adrien’s. Suddenly, she felt much more confident and at ease. “And what is your flirting style?”
Adrien chuckled, his cheeks looking a lot pinker than they had before. He scratched the back of his neck before saying, “It tends to involve, um, pick-up lines. The punnier the better.”
Marinette threw her head back with a laugh. Oh, that was just adorable.
Her younger self would have absolutely melted if Adrien ever used a cheesy, awkward pick-up line on her. Who was she kidding? Her current self would melt if he used a pick-up line on her.
“Any examples?” she asked, her eyes sparkling with amusement.
“You’re the butter to my croissant.” Adrien squeezed her hand, a goofy grin on his lips.
Marinette instantly burst into giggles, shaking her head. “No, actually, I think you’ll find that you’re the butter to my cup.”
He got quiet, an even darker flush slowly spreading across his face.
After a while, she frowned, tilting her head in concern. “Adrien?”
“I thought you said you weren’t good at flirting?!” He practically whined, a pout forming on his lips.
Her mouth dropped open with surprise. “I-I’m not... Adrien that was just a terrible joke I made!”
“Nope. That was adorable. Just like you. How am I meant to function with how cute you are?”
Marinette scoffed feeling giddiness rise up inside of her. Alright, if cheesy jokes got Adrien to flush like that she could definitely play this game. “Well, you better learn to function because I'm not planning on getting any less cute anytime soon," she teased, winking at him mischievously.
Adrien choked, his hand pulling away from her grip as he placed both of them on his heart. “Okay, that’s it. You’ve officially killed me. Yep, I’m dead.”
He flopped down in his chair, closing his eyes as he stuck his tongue out. Goodness, surely he knew just how cute he was?
Playing along, Marinette draped a hand over her forehead. “Oh no! We don’t want that to happen! However can I bring you back to life?”
He cracked an eye open, peering at her. “I’m not sure. I’ve heard that, um, a kiss of life might help?”
Biting her lip to suppress a smile, Marinette solemnly nodded her head. “Right, of course! I’ve heard that they can solve anything.”
Quickly, she leaned across the table and brushed a kiss on Adrien’s cheek. Her heart practically thundered in her ears at the contact. She loved him so much.
“Oh, that almost did it. M-maybe one more and everything will be all better?”
There was a hopeful look on his face and she gave him a small, knowing smile. Leaning over again, she placed a lingering, long kiss on his other cheek. Pulling back, Marinette giggled at the almost dazed expression Adrien was currently wearing. “Did that work? Are you back to life yet?”
“Yep!” He bobbed his head up and down faster than she had ever seen it. “That worked! But, I may, um, need more of those in the future. J-just to make sure?”
He was such a dork. Giving him a fond look, Marinette took his hand in hers once more. “That sounds like it could be arranged.”
Adrien opened his mouth to say something else when the bell for their next class rang. They both sighed with disappointment, sad that they couldn’t continue their little games.
“Can I walk you to our next class?”
“Of course.” Marinette smiled back at him, giving his hand a quick squeeze. Standing up, they threw away their remaining food before heading to their next class.
On their way, she quickly made a mental note to continue making cheesy pick-up lines already. She only wished that she had started using them sooner. Her old self would have loved to know she could make Adrien blush with a cute, flirty joke.

Living Together
Andddd here’s the second and final chapter for tonight. Lemme know your thoughts! We’ve only got one day left of Adrienette April tho omggg. Where does the time go?
AO3
Adrien beamed with pride and joy as boxes were unloaded into his apartment. The same apartment that he’d now be sharing with Marinette.
They had been dating for years, and finally, they decided it was time to move in together. Of course, his father had a few choice words to say about the decision but Adrien was an adult now. It was his choice. And he’d choose Marinette.
Every. Time.
Their apartment was located directly in the heart of Paris. They were still quite close to her parents’ bakery, a mere 15 minutes away if they needed to be there. They couldn't be any happier.
Walking inside, Adrien grinned as he saw Marinette. Her back was turned to him, fingers tapping the countertop with a dull thud. She seemed to be deep in thought.
Coming up behind her, he wrapped his arms around her waist, “Guess who?”
“Mmm,” Marinette hummed, the smile clear in her voice. “Would that be my wonderful, sweet boyfriend who I love so much? The same one who’s going to be living with me now?”
“Do you know anyone else who’s moving into your apartment today?” Adrien laughed, squeezing her waist.
“No,” she said, turning her head to look at him. Her blue eyes twinkled playfully. “And, if you weren’t him then you’d probably be a burglar. In which case I’d have to kick your butt.”
She really would too. Even with all his years as Chat Noir, Marinette was deceptively strong. Adrien was certain that she would be able to kick until he was bruised and bloodied.
“Alright,” he said, putting his hands up and taking a step back. “You got me. It is your wonderful, sweet boyfriend who loves you so much.”
“Not as much as I love you,” Marinette responded before stepping up on her tip-toes and planting a quick peck on his lips. “I think everything’s mostly moved in.”
Adrien looked around and saw that most of their belongings were in their new apartment. There were boxes piled on top of each other on the floor, filled with books, clothes, and kitchen supplies. Absolutely everything they needed to start their new life together.
“I can’t believe we’re finally doing this,” Adrien said, looking around the apartment with a smile on his face. “It’s been a long time coming. I’ve wanted to move in with you since the day I first realized I loved you.”
Marinette flushed, giving him her own shy grin. “Me too.”
Fondness shone on his face as he gazed down at her. The idea of a much younger Marinette imagining their life and future together made him so deliriously happy. He had never even imagined that he could be this happy.
Slowly, her grin grew. “I’m so excited to live with you. It’s going to be so much fun.”
Adrien wrapped his arms around her again and hugged her tightly. “I’m excited too, Marinette. I can’t wait to wake up next to you every morning and come home to you every night.”
She leaned her head against his chest and sighed contentedly. “Me too, Adrien. Me too.”
They spent the rest of the day unpacking and setting up their new home. Adrien assembled their new bed while Marinette organized their kitchen. They worked together, laughing and joking as they went. The two of them took turns playing songs, singing, and dancing around their apartment as they finished for the day.
As the sun began to set, they collapsed onto the couch, exhausted but happy. Adrien put his arm around Marinette and pulled her close.
“This is perfect,” he said, looking around at their new apartment. “I can’t believe how lucky I am to have you, Marinette.”
She smiled and leaned into him. “I’m the lucky one, Adrien. You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
They sat in comfortable silence for a while, watching the sunset over the Parisian rooftops. Adrien felt completely blissful, more in love with Marinette than he ever had before.
The next few weeks were a blur of unpacking, decorating, and settling in. He and Marinette learned what it was like to live together. He learned that Marinette needed a cup of coffee to wake up in the morning. She was grumpy, sleepy, and unwilling to speak until she had caffeine. But it just made him love her all the more.
Marinette had learned that Adrien was a morning person. He was bouncy and eager to start the day when the sun rose up. What made him secretly pleased, though, was that sometimes his cheerfulness in the early morning hour would cause her to smile. Those were the best mornings.
They found their routine, and they loved it. They would wake up together, have breakfast, and then go their separate ways for the day. Both of them working on different things. Marinette was an extremely successful fashion designer now, showing him the wonderful designs that she was making whenever she could.
In the evenings, when they had both finished work, they would cook dinner together and talk about their days. Then, after dinner, they would watch movies or play video games, sometimes even falling asleep in each other’s arms.
Adrien loved every moment of their life together. He loved waking up next to Marinette, seeing her sleepy smile as she cuddled up to him. He loved cooking with her, making her laugh as they tried new recipes together. He loved falling asleep next to her, feeling her warm breath on his neck.
It was so much more wonderful than living in the mansion had ever been. Now, he got to spend time with the person that he loved the most.
But he knew that he wanted more. He wanted to spend the rest of his life with Marinette, to wake up next to her every morning, and to fall asleep next to her every night. Had known this ever since they were kids.
One evening, as they were curled up on the couch, Adrien turned to Marinette and took her hand.
“Marinette,” he said, his voice serious. “I love you more than anything in this world. You make me the happiest man alive, and I can’t imagine my life without you.”
She grinned, squeezing his hand back. “I feel the exact same way, Adrien.”
“I want to spend the rest of my life with you. If you’ll let me,” Adrien said, looking into her eyes. “Will you marry me?”
Marinette gasped, tears filling her eyes. “Yes, Adrien. Yes, I will marry you.”
They kissed, her hands coming up to cup his cheeks gently. It was one of the sweetest kisses that he had ever had. Made even better by the fact that it was no longer his girlfriend that he was kissing. It was his fiancée.
When they finally pulled back, he slowly and carefully slipped the ring onto her finger. Marinette gasped, lifting it up to lovingly stare at the diamond.
“Adrien, it’s beautiful. I love it so much,” she said through tears of happiness.
Taking the hand that currently had the ring on it, he intertwined their fingers, squeezing it gently. Once again, he leaned in, connecting their lips together in another joyful kiss. This was officially the best day of Adrien’s life.

Alone Together
Day 16 is now doneee!! Which means we’re over halfway to finishing Adrienette April!! I swear it goes so quick :’). Anywho, lemme know what you think <3
AO3
Marinette was excitedly preparing for a small get-together at her place. She had invited her friends Alya, Nino, and Adrien to hang out and catch up on old times. Adrien’s father had finally allowed him to come over and she absolutely couldn’t wait to hang out with her best friends.
She was especially thrilled to see Adrien tonight. Marinette desperately prayed that she wouldn’t completely embarrass herself around him as per usual. No, tonight she was determined to be cool, calm, and collected. No more stuttering or stammering!
Checking her watch, she realized that it was soon time for her guests to arrive. Her heart fluttered at the thought of spending time with Adrien outside of school hours.
Her bedroom was decorated with twinkling fairy lights and she had also set up some bean bags in the middle of her room so they could watch movies. She also made some delicious macaroons and croissants. And they were for all of her friends, not just for Adrien. Even though she knew croissants were his favorite.
Marinette’s felt her nerves begin to overwhelm her when she heard a knock on the door. Taking a deep breath, she opened it, preparing to greet Alya and Nino.
It wasn’t them, though.
It was Adrien, a bright, cheerful smile on his face as he waved at her. “Hello, Marinette!”
She jumped slightly, cursing herself for the overreaction when she saw Adrien’s face fall.
You knew he was coming, Marinette scolded herself. So why are you shrieking in his face?
Putting on a wide, awkward grin, she said, “O-oh, Adrien! H-hi, see you wonderful! I-I mean it’s wonderful to see you!”
Great and now she was stammering. What a great start!
Sucking in a deep breath for courage, Marinette opened the door wider. “Do you want to come in?”
“That’d be great!” Adrien’s frown was completely gone as he entered, looking at her with such adorable, sparkling green eyes she wondered if she was even still alive.
Peering around the corner, her brow furrowed. Alya and Nino weren’t there. Alya was always early. It helped her to gather courage before being with Adrien.
Turning around, Marinette blinked at him curiously. “Did you see Alya and Nino anywhere?”
He glanced away from her, scratching the back of his neck and she felt her heart sink.
No.
“Unfortunately, Nino texted me a little while ago. Apparently, they got caught up with babysitting duties and can’t make it.”
What a disaster! How was she going to handle spending a few hours alone with Adrien when she could barely handle a few minutes?!
He must have seen the horror and disappointment on her face because, within the next second, Adrien was jumping to console her. “Don't worry, Marinette,” he said with a comforting smile. "Even if Alya and Nino don't show up, we can still have a good time together."
“J-just the two of us?” she asked stiffly.
“Yeah.” Adrien nudged her shoulder lightly. “Some of my best moments are when we’re alone together. Remember the time we snuck out to go see a movie together after my perfume ad was released?”
Her face warmed at the memory. She nodded her head with a small grimace. Of course, Marinette remembered. How could she forget meeting up with Adrien in her pajamas? How embarrassing.
The only positive was that she had gotten a ton of pictures of them that day and most of the Internet had assumed that she was his girlfriend. Okay, so maybe it hadn’t been the worst day.
“And do you remember when we were practicing for that big game competition? You even gave me your good luck charm.” He reached down into his backpack, pulling out the bracelet. Giving her a wink, Adrien said, “I still carry it everywhere I go, you know. I swear it’s helped me ace more than a few hard physics tests.”
“Y-yeah?” she asked, feeling touched by his kind words. Leave it to Adrien to know exactly what to say to calm her racing heart.
“Mhm,” he hummed before carefully placing it back.
Marinette couldn’t believe he still had that. It was a gift she hadn’t even put any thought or energy into. And, to see him carry it around so casually made her feel special.
With a soft giggle, she nodded her head to the stairs leading up to her bedroom. “Come on, let’s head up. I made snacks.” Adrien instantly perked up. “Ooh, I hope that means croissants?”
“Of course it does.” Marinette beamed. “Plus, there’s extra now that Nino and Alya aren’t coming.”
With that, the two teens practically raced up the stairs, eager to tear into the delicious pastries that were awaiting them.
Clambering into a bean bag, Marinette nibbled on a strawberry-flavored macaroon. She pulled out her laptop, opening it up to the movie that she had picked out for her friends tonight.
She glanced over at Adrien, wondering if he had anything to say before she played it. His eyes were lit up with delight as he practically devoured the croissants in front of him.
Giggling quietly, Marinette shuffled slightly closer to him so that he could see the screen as well. As they watched the movie, she slowly felt a sleepy contentedness settle over her. A warmth surrounded her as their knees slightly brushed against each other. They were so close to each other.
A small smile crept onto Marinette’s lips as her eyes slowly fluttered closed. Her head began to bob back and forth as she fought sleep.
It was a losing battle.
The last thing that she could remember was falling asleep on something warm and soft. She nuzzled closer, enjoying these precious seconds of sleep without worries from Monarch or classwork.
It was a rustling from above that awoke her what felt like a short while later. Marinette’s brow furrowed and she nuzzled even closer around the warmth that she had found. Her grip tightened. She was too relaxed to wake up now.
“Five more minutes,” she mumbled incoherently.
There was a soft chuckle from above her that made her smile stretch wider as the sound filled her with happiness.
“I’m sorry, Marinette, but I have to go now. My bodyguard is here.”
The rustle came again and once more the warmth threatened to leave her. She curled around it, wanting it to stay.
“Stay,” she murmured in a breathless sigh.
“I really wish I could.” There was a tone of reluctance in the voice as though they truly wanted to remain right where they were. “But my father would never allow it.”
That caused Marinette’s attention to slowly perk up. She knew those words. Understood them even. A light kiss descended on her hair and she slowly opened her eyes at the contact.
A grinning Adrien was staring at her, mere inches away from her. Her head was on his shoulder and her grip was tightened around his arm, keeping him from moving.
Marinette shrieked, feeling her face flame as she scrambled away from him. “A-Adrien! Forry, I am so! I-I mean, I am so sorry! I didn’t mean to sleep on you!”
Was it possible to just disappear? She certainly wished that she could. Marinette snuck a quick glance at her computer. It was off, the movie having finished a while ago. Her cheeks turned a shade darker at the realization. Just how long had she been sleeping on Adrien? Oh, she was absolutely mortified.
“It’s alright, Marinette. It was actually pretty nice to take a little nap.” He stretched his arms out with a big yawn before standing. “Thanks for having me over. I hope we can do it again sometime.”
She stood up with him. A wave of happiness that he wanted to come back even after she had fallen asleep in the middle of their movie replaced some of the embarrassment. Walking him downstairs, Marinette leaned against the door of the bakery as he turned to look back at her.
“I’ll see you at school tomorrow, right?” Adrien asked, an adorable, crooked grin on his lips.
“Yes, yes, you will.” Marinette nodded her head before her lips formed a small o as he kissed her cheek gently.
“Goodnight, Marinette,” he whispered before quickly ducking into his limo.
“G-goodnight, A-Adrien,” she finally managed to say after he had long ago driven away. Pressing a hand to her still flushed cheek, Marinette went back inside with a happy squeak. She couldn’t wait to tell Alya about her day!

Sneaking Away
Oops! Sorry I missed yesterday. I got busy and didn’t have enough time to finish the chapter. There’s going to be two chapters today to make up for it tho! Lemme know what you think!
AO3
It was official. Adrien was bored. With a quiet sigh, he rested his cheek on his fist, surveying the party his father was throwing. It was yet another dance for some promotion or other.
Whatever it was none of his friends had been allowed in. So it was just him. Alone.
He stared down at the dance floor wistfully, imagining slow dancing with Marinette once more. Now that they were officially dating, Adrien would be allowed to keep her in his arms for dance after dance.
It would’ve been wonderful. Too bad his father would never have allowed it.
He sighed again, this time much louder. Pulling out his phone, he was about to text Marinette and let her know just how much he missed her when a hand on his wrist stopped him.
Turning around, Adrien blinked in surprise. A waiter was grinning at him, their long, dark hair tied back in a ponytail. The mustache twitched above their lips even as their blue eyes sparkled at him.
Obviously, his father had sent this waiter up to force him to mingle when all he wanted to do was text Marinette. Clearing his throat, he put on his best model smile. Oddly, the eyes in front of him dimmed, looking strangely disappointed. They let go of his wrist with a shy grin, their expression turning rather sheepish.
Feeling confused, Adrien nodded down at the dance floor. “I suppose my father wants me down there, right?”
An adorable, familiar, tinkling laugh came from the waiter. With their eyes having regained some of their previous shimmer, they slowly peeled the mustache from their lips.
“Adrien, it’s me,” Marinette whispered, finally able to stop herself from laughing.
“Marinette!” he practically shouted, throwing his arms around her in a giant hug. “I was just about to text you! I missed you so much.”
She squeezed him to her even tighter and he practically melted into her embrace, finally feeling at home. All of his previous moping completely washed away as Adrien nuzzled contentedly into her arms.
After a long pause, he pulled back because a sudden realization just hit him. “Marinette, what are you doing here? I didn’t know you had an invitation.”
Once again, her eyes gleamed mischievously. “Marinette didn’t.” Slowly, she placed the mustache back on her face. “Marino, on the other hand, did.”
With another happy laugh, Adrien threw his arms around her once more. “I’m so glad you’re here.”
Marinette leaned back slightly, gently running the back of her hand down his cheek. “I saw some selfies of the party and you looked so miserable. How could I leave you alone like that?”
“I’m always miserable without you.” He pouted, his lower lip jutting out.
She squeaked quietly, her face turning a light shade of pink.
Adrien watched her blush with a slight amount of satisfaction. It had gotten much harder to fluster her now that they were dating but he still enjoyed seeing her flush.
Shaking her head quickly, the pink faded away and Marinette gave him a confident smile, jerking her head in the direction of his room. “Do you want to go up to your room and get away from this party?”
“Yes, please!” He nodded his head eagerly, letting her tug him up the stairs. Adrien shot a quick glance over his shoulder and, seeing his father nowhere in sight, he blew out a breath of relief. If he wasn’t here then he wouldn’t notice that Adrien had snuck away.
Once they were safely inside his room, Adrien flopped onto his couch with a relieved sigh. “Thank goodness for you, Marinette. I thought I was going to be stuck feeling miserable and lonely for hours.”
She gave a quiet giggle before searching outside his room suspiciously. She must not have seen anyone because she proceeded to shut his door with a quiet click. Turning around, Marinette beamed at him. “I don’t think anyone saw us.”
“Good!” he beamed back, opening his arms wide so that she collapsed into his embrace once more. With a happy, content sigh, Adrien nuzzled his chin into her hair, quickly pulling her ponytail out and letting her long, soft hair fan out around him. Suddenly, everything seemed so much brighter and better now that Marinette was here.
“Can you sneak in every time my father hosts an event?” he murmured.
Marinette laughed, almost dislodging his head from hers as she shook. Once she had stopped giggling, Adrien took his spot back and gave a pleased sigh.
After a brief moment, Marinette eventually murmured, “You’re going to get us caught, you know.”
“Mmm,” he hummed, shaking his head back and forth as his eyes fluttered closed in contentment. “I don’t care.”
“You’re adorable.” She snickered, tilting her head up to look up at him.
Adrien’s lips pursed at the action, a frown on his brow as he had to remove his chin from the comfortable spot it had taken on the top of her head.
With Marinette grinning up at him with that adorable gleam in her eyes, though, he couldn’t stay too mad.
“Did I tell you how glad I am that you came to find me yet?” he asked, softly caressing her cheek.
“Yes, you did.” She laughed, turning around to face him with an even wider grin. “Many... many times.”
Adrien simply tugged her into his arms, enjoying her little splutter as her face was practically buried in his chest. He cuddled even closer to her, whispering, “Marinette, I love you.”
She managed to lean out of his arms, gazing up at him with a pair of shimmering, sapphire blue eyes. “I love you too, Adrien,” Marinette whispered softly.
They both leaned in at the same time. Neither was certain who started their first kiss. All Adrien knew was that he finally felt complete. That he had been longing for this ever since he had gotten a chance to kiss her again as Chat Noir.
Melting into her lips with a smile, he ran his fingers through her hair. Marinette’s arms wrapped around his neck and she tilted her head, deepening the kiss. It was perfect.
For once, Adrien was grateful for the gala his father threw. It meant that he had spent even more time with the girl of his dreams.

Kiss in the Rain
Another chapter of post-reveal, pre-relationship bc it’s my fave hehehe. There’s a slight bit of angst in the beginning though it def gets solved by the end ;). Lemme know what you guys think!
AO3
It was raining. Storming, even. The thunder outside was so loud it shook her windows.
But none of that mattered to Marinette. Not whilst she was in the arms of her partner and best friend. They were curled up on her chaise, legs practically intertwined as they watched a movie on her laptop. Adrien’s hands were in her hair, carefully braiding it which sent lovely shivers up her spine.
She snuck a peek up at him, feeling her heart double its pace as she caught a glimpse of his face. Now that Marinette knew Chat Noir was Adrien, it almost made her wonder how she could have thought it was anyone else.
She still remembered her squeak of shock when they had accidentally detransformed in the same alley. The green light had faded away revealing Adrien, the guy she had loved for so long. Who was, coincidentally, also the guy she had been rebuffing at every opportunity.
And yet, as her eyes had widened with both horror and regret, Adrien’s had softened into something that almost looked like adoration. He had breathed out her name so sweetly. In a manner that she had never heard him say before.
When Adrien reached out, tugging her into his arms, Marinette had expected that this would be it. That they would finally kiss and their relationship would change from friendship into something more.
That hadn’t happened, though.
Instead, he brushed that kiss that she had so desperately wished would land on her lips, onto her head. Her eyes popped open just as Adrien whispered, “I’m so glad it was you.”
And that was it. No undying declarations of love or, even worse, words of rejection.
Though it hadn’t quite been in the way Marinette had wanted it, their relationship did change. They became even better friends. Inside jokes were shared between them that no one else seemed to understand. Late-night meetings in each other’s bedrooms after transforming. And, even though it was bittersweet, they cuddled for hours on her chaise.
Marinette still longed for the day that Adrien really would pull her into his arms in a passionate kiss that neither of them could deny any longer. But after they revealed their identities, he had seemed to retreat.
Akumas were treated with sole professionalism now. Gone were the days of flirting and playful banter.
With a disgruntled sigh, Marinette burrowed further into Adrien’s arms, hoping that would soothe the ache in her heart.
“What’s wrong, Marinette?” he asked, pausing his ministrations in her hair.
She blinked, feeling her cheeks turn light pink. He wasn’t supposed to notice anything was wrong. But this was Adrien. They could read each other like a book. Picked up on each other’s moods like it was their own.
Shaking her head, she forced out a giggle. “N-nothing. I-I just don’t like this scene.”
Adrien turned her around to face him, a frown on his brow. “Marinette, that was not an I don’t like this scene sigh. That was an I’m unhappy and need my partner to cheer me up sigh.”
This time she let out a real laugh. “Well, good job, kitty. You’ve successfully cheered me up.”
Reaching up, she ruffled Adrien’s hair, feeling rather pleased when his eyes fluttered closed at the touch. Her eyes darted to his lips as they had so many times before. How bad would it be if she just leaned in?
Quickly, Marinette yanked her hand back to her lap. She had to stop torturing herself with these thoughts. Adrien was her friend and that’s all he’d ever be. Looking down, she fiddled with her fingers, trying to calm her racing thoughts.
He tilted her chin up, the furrow between his brows deepening as he gazed down at her. “Okay, now I know something is wrong. It’s alright, Marinette. You can tell me. Whatever it is, we’ll fix it. Just like we’ve always done.”
Her heart squeezed. She so desperately wanted to tell him. But she couldn’t. It’d ruin their relationship forever.
Shaking her head forcefully, Marinette leaned back away from him with a grimace. “I-I’m fine, really.”
Adrien reached forward, trying to stop her retreat. Before he could, though, she stood up, starting to pace.
“Marinette?” he called out to her, halting her aggravated steps.
She turned back around, feeling her heart break as she looked over at his wide, hurt green eyes.
“What’s wrong?” Adrien stood up too, conflicted about whether or not he should step closer to her or not. “I don’t understand.”
Marinette blew out a forceful breath, tugging her pigtails. The anger, frustration, and bitterness built until she just couldn’t hold it back anymore. “I don’t know either! This should be enough! It’s always been enough!” She gestured in between them. “B-but I don’t know! Everything’s so different. And it’s just too much!”
And not enough at the same time, she just managed to cut herself off from saying. Marinette bit harshly down on the tip of her tongue and instantly wished that she could take her words back as she saw Adrien’s face fall.
What was wrong with her? Why was she now hurting Adrien? The boy she loved with all of her heart. Feeling the anger give way to an overwhelming sense of regret, she took a step toward him. “A-Adrien, I-I...”
“No, no, it’s alright, Marinette,” he said, sounding like he had to practically choke the words out.
She swallowed the large lump in her throat. She could feel the tears slowly begin to form in her eyes. She was such an idiot.
Adrien slung his backpack over his shoulder, avoiding her gaze as he opened the trapdoor. “I-I’ll just leave, I guess.” Before he left, he shot her a quick glance over his shoulder, whispering, “I’m sorry.”
As the trapdoor fell back down with a clang, Marinette fell to her knees, hanging her head down as quiet sobs shook her shoulders. She buried her face in her hands, wishing she hadn’t said anything. Why couldn’t she just be happy with what they had?! Why did she destroy everything?!
Well done, Marinette, now you really have ruined our relationship.
“Marinette,” Tikki’s disappointed voice came from above her head. “What are you still doing here? Go after him. Explain what you meant.”
“I-I can’t, Tikki.” Marinette looked up, tears spilling out from her eyes. “He must hate me now. He’ll never forgive me for this.”
Her kwami sighed before floating down to place a reassuring hand on her cheek. “Marinette, I don’t think Adrien could ever hate you. But I also don’t think you meant those things you just said. And, because of that, I think Adrien believes that you don’t want him around. You have to go and explain. You don’t want him to think you don’t like him. Do you?”
Sniffling, Marinette shook her head. That sounded absolutely awful. It would kill her if she thought Adrien didn’t like her. She had to try and fix this.
Slowly, determination filled her until she was running out of her room, shouting his name. She didn’t stop, even when she crashed outside the bakery door, rain mixing with the tears that were still streaming down her face.
Squinting through the downpour, Marinette finally spotted him walking away.
“Adrien!” she screamed, pouring as much energy as she could into her legs as she raced towards him.
He stopped, turning around to look at her stunned. “Marinette?” he said her name in bewilderment.
She practically crashed into his chest sobbing. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean it, I swear! This is enough. This has always been enough!”
Adrien stepped out of her embrace, shaking his hair, water droplets falling from the blonde strands. Her lower lip wobbled as the rejection hit her. He didn’t want her.
A bolt of lightning struck, lighting up the sky behind him.
“But what if it’s not enough for me, Marinette?” he said forcefully, dragging a hand through his dripping hair. “What if I do want more?! What if I’ve always wanted more and even though I’m trying to hold myself back from you it’s not working? Like you just said up there, it’s too much for you. So what if I push too hard and it’s too much and then I truly lose you? I couldn’t live with myself if that happened.”
Adrien hung his head down before glancing up at her, looking let a wet, lost puppy dog. “I... I can’t... won’t hurt you.”
Was... was he saying what she thought he was saying?
Pushing down the fear and hanging onto the hope that was dangling in front of her, Marinette rushed forward, pressing her lips to his. Instantly, Adrien’s arms wrapped around her waist as he clutched her to him, kissing her just as desperately.
Thunder boomed in the background, the sky continuing to drench them. Gusts of wind whirled around, causing Marinette to shiver in Adrien’s arms. But that didn’t matter. Because this was it. This was the kiss that she had wanted for so long.
Pressing closer, she wrapped her hands around the back of his neck, scrambling for purchase on his wet skin.
Was this really happening?
Choosing to enjoy herself if this was really a dream, Marinette smiled into their kiss, feeling giddiness billow up inside of her.
Eventually, Adrien pulled away, resting his forehead against hers as he panted. “W-what was that? I-I don’t understand... I thought you just said it was too much.”
“I didn’t mean it.” She shook her head, trying to pour as much sincerity into her words as she could. “I have always wanted more. It’s always been you, Adrien. Always. I-I love you.”
His mouth crashed upon hers once more, barely giving her time to breathe as he pressed unimaginably closer. Once again, Marinette’s fingers tangled in his hair, tugging at the wet strands.
Perfection. This was perfection.
Adrien pulled back once more and she leaned forward, chasing after his lips. He chuckled before whispering, “I love you too, you know.”
Those words almost stopped Marinette’s heart, making her dizzy with relief. Before she could say something like how they should get out of this rain now, or could really use his black umbrella right now, his lips descended upon hers once more.
Five more minutes, she thought as she kissed him back just as passionately. This was much too important to stop.

New York
Ahhh the New York special! Probs one of my favorite miraculous eps and the one I’ve seen the most :’). Anywho, I hope you guys like this chapter! Lemme know if you did! Oooh, also lemme know if you liked the new ep bc omgggg Luka is my faveeee haha <3
AO3
Marinette’s head rested gently on Adrien’s shoulder, a happy, content sigh leaving her lips as they slow-danced together. The hot dogs that they had eaten had caused them to float high above the streets of New York. The moon was their only source of light, casting a soft, white glow around them.
When Marinette first ate that hot dog and began to rise higher into the sky, she was positively certain that she was going to float away. Knowing her disastrous luck, she’d slam into a building and then there’d be no Ladybug to come back to Paris if there was an akuma. Chat would’ve been devastated.
That didn’t happen, though. Instead, Adrien quickly reached out, grasping her hand within his tightly. Tingles raced up and down her spine as he pulled her back to him with such a sweet smile. For a split second, Marinette panicked, feeling her love for Adrien come rushing back up to the surface when all she wanted to do was stuff it back down.
But then, with their song playing so beautifully in the background, she quickly shoved aside both voices. The one telling her that her feelings were a mistake and the other one that was flailing around with stammers and misspoken words.
Tonight, Marinette wasn’t going to overreact or worry about the consequences for once. She was simply going to enjoy the moment. So, without thinking, she threw her arms around Adrien’s neck and cuddled closer to him, swaying gently to the music.
They stayed up there for what felt like hours. Even as their song faded away and a more upbeat tune began to play, they remained in the warmth of each other’s embraces.
I love you. The confession was sitting on the tip of her tongue, desperately wanting to be said. But Marinette bit it back. She wasn’t going to ruin this beautiful moment by panicking or by revealing just how much Adrien meant to her. There would be time for that later. She was certain of it.
Eventually, though, it was time for the magic to end. The weightlessness of before faded away and she felt them slowly begin to sink. When they finally reached the ground, she clenched her eyes tighter, desperately wishing that they’d float up once more.
That didn’t happen, though.
With a quiet, disappointed sigh, Marinette slowly opened her eyes and pulled her head away from Adrien’s shoulder. She blinked in surprise when she saw that he was already looking down at her with a soft grin.
“Thanks for the dance, Marinette.” He leaned closer to her before brushing a delicate kiss on her cheek.
She squeaked, a hand immediately coming up to press the spot he had just kissed. Her face turned a bright red feeling her heart stutter in her chest. “T-thank you, t-too.”
Ah. There was the stuttering. And she had been doing so well, too.
“Would you like to stay and dance some more?” Adrien’s head gestured to the music which had picked up the pace considerably from their slow song. With a giggle and an eager nod of her head, she danced along to the beat. He laughed too before dancing along with her.
Marinette’s grin widened. This was genuinely the best day ever! She was so glad she managed to convince his father to let him come.
As they danced, Marinette kept her gaze solely on Adrien, feeling her heart swell with pure joy. His presence, his touch, his laughter, it all felt like a dream come true. She would never forget this night for as long as she lived.
The music pulsed through her veins, and she let herself get lost in the moment. With a quiet gasp, she felt Adrien reach for her hand, twirling her around. The shock faded quickly and she laughed, feeling like she was floating up to the sky once again.
She snuck a quick glance down at their feet, genuinely wondering if they were still on solid ground. They were.
But as the night grew later, they were eventually startled out of their dance as the music went away. Marinette blinked, surprised to see that most of their classmates were gone and it was just her and Adrien on the rooftop. She had hardly noticed how late it had gotten.
She flushed, hoping Adrien didn’t think she was being clingy. Honestly, she hadn’t realized that time was passing, lost in his arms as she was.
Instead of looking at her angrily, though, he simply chuckled, scratching the back of his neck. “I suppose it’s probably time to head back now, right?”
“Y-yeah.” Marinette giggled sheepishly. “I’m sorry we stayed out so late. I hadn’t realized most of our classmates had left.”
“Me either.” Adrien grinned back at her with a simple shrug of his shoulders. “I guess dancing with you is so fun that it made me lose track of time.”
He nudged her lightly, his emerald eyes glittering with amusement under the pale moonlight. Her face turned even darker and she quickly ducked it to the ground, suddenly feeling shy.
"C-Can I walk you back to your room, Marinette?"
Quickly, she brought her head back up, her lips parting with surprise. Now he wanted to walk her back too?! And did she just hear him stutter?
Feeling her heart skip a beat at his words, she bit her lip. She couldn't believe her luck. "That would be really nice, Adrien," she replied, peeking up at him from beneath her lashes.
Adrien took her hand in his, and they walked back to her hotel room in comfortable silence. Marinette couldn't stop the butterflies that fluttered in her stomach as she walked beside him, their fingers intertwined.
When they reached her room, Marinette turned to face Adrien, feeling a mixture of excitement and nervousness. She didn't want the night to end, but she knew that it had to.
"Thank you so much for tonight, Adrien. I had a really great time," she said softly, looking up at him with a soft smile.
He grinned back at her, squeezing her hand in his, making her heart squeeze just as hard. "No, thank you, Marinette. After all, you’re the reason I even got to come here. And this has been the best night of my life."
Why did he have to be so sweet?! How was she meant to move on from him when he was genuinely the best guy in the entire world?
Before Marinette could respond, he had wrapped her up in a tight embrace once again. She tensed for a brief second before quickly relaxing, holding him just as tightly. His cologne wafted around them and she tried her hardest to memorize it, not wanting to ever forget tonight.
After a long while, Adrien eventually pulled away, pressing another soft, lingering kiss to her cheek. "Goodnight, Marinette," he whispered. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
"G-Goodnight, Adrien," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. She felt dizzy. Unable to stop herself, Marinette shot a quick glance down at her feet to check that the hot dog’s magic had faded away again. It truly felt like she was still floating though.
He squeezed her shoulder before turning around and heading back to his room, leaving Marinette standing outside her hotel room with a racing heart.
As she entered her room, Marinette sank back against her door with a happy sigh. Ignoring Chloé’s soft snores, she squealed quietly. New York was amazing!
Once she had gotten ready for bed, she practically dove into it. With a smile ever present on her face, she drifted off to sleep, dreams of Adrien dancing across her mind.

Love Language
Ahhh!! Sorry I missed chapter 11 yesterday! I got busy D:. As a bonus, though, there’s two chapters today at least :’). Lemme know what you think!
AO3
Marinette’s always known that her love language was gift-giving. Whether it was sewing a little pencil case or creating a beautiful, extravagant gown it filled her with absolute warmth to see her friends beaming, cheerful faces.
Though she definitely knew that acts of service was probably her second biggest language, gift-giving just held a special place in her heart. It was most likely the reason why she had a treasure chest filled with gifts for thirty-five of Adrien’s birthdays.
Placing her tray of food down on the cafeteria’s table, Marinette took her seat. Nibbling on an apple, she examined the back of Adrien’s head as per usual. It was just as beautiful as it always was.
“What do you think Adrien’s love language is?” she asked Alya, still unable to tear her gaze away from him.
Alya turned around, smirking when she caught sight of what Marinette was looking at. Shaking her head at her best friend, Alya replied, “Sunshine? I’m pretty sure his love language is physical touch.”
Marinette scrunched her nose up, tilting her head in confusion. “Touch? Why would you think that? I was pretty sure that it was words of affirmation.”
With a quiet, happy sigh to herself, she looked down at the table. A small smile began to stretch across her face as she thought about all the times Adrien’s cheered her up with just his words.
Peeking back up at Alya from beneath her lashes, she nibbled on her lower lip. “He always has something nice to say to his friends, after all. And I’m not quite sure where you’re getting physical touch from. I rarely see Adrien enjoying it when people touch him.”
Marinette frowned to herself, recalling all the times she watched Adrien physically recoil whenever Lila and Chloé planted themselves directly in his personal space. Alya had to be wrong. Adrien hated touching.
“Yeah, you’re right. Unless it’s from someone he loves.” Her friend’s eyes glimmered knowingly, as though she was keeping something from Marinette.
Pursing her lips, the furrow between her brows deepened. “I don’t understand... what are you trying to say?”
“I’m saying that Adrien rarely touches anyone... except for you.”
Marinette almost jumped out of her seat, feeling her heart race from Alya’s statement. “W-what?” Of their own accord, her eyes darted over to Adrien, her face flaming at the thought. “N-no he doesn’t.”
“Oh, come one, Marinette.” Her eyes rolled. “How often does Adrien touch your shoulder with every opportunity he gets?”
“W-well, um... y-yeah, I guess he does do that but...”
“And he also slow-danced with you both in New York and at Chloé’s party.”
Marinette didn’t think it was possible but she felt her blush turn even darker. For an instant, she was transported back to that night. She remembered their cuddle under the moonlight as they floated above the streets of New York.
“And...,” Alya continued, snapping her fingers as she remembered even more evidence. “Do you remember Startrain? As soon as you fell asleep on Adrien’s shoulder, he instantly turned off his lesson and cuddled with you.”
“T-that doesn’t... I-I... that was just because w-we were both um, tired?” She ducked her head down. That picture that Alya had stolen of the two of them sleeping together was still her home screen.
“Let’s also not forget the multiple times he’s hugged you and held your hand,” she finished, sitting back smugly in her seat. Crossing her arms against her chest, she asked, “Was that enough evidence for you yet?”
Marinette simply shook her head, feeling too dazed to speak. Of course, she remembered every single time Adrien ever touched her. She was utterly in love with him. But just because she loved him didn’t mean he loved her back.
“Well, why don’t we just ask him ourselves?”
Whipping her head up, Marinette’s eyes widened with disbelief as she saw Alya shouting Adrien’s name and waving him over.
“What?!” she practically screamed, wanting to leap over the seats to get her best friend to stop. “No, Alya, stop!”
But it was too late, Adrien had turned around at Alya’s call and was now walking over to their table at her gesture.
To both Marinette’s detriment and pleasure, he sat down next to her, his shoulder brushing against hers. Stiffening slightly, she desperately wished for a hole to appear in the floor and swallow her whole.
That didn’t happen. Instead, Adrien blinked over at Alya curiously. “Did you need me?”
“Yes, Marinette and I had a question for you, sunshine.” Her smirk widened mischievously. Alya ignored her glare, proceeding with the question that Marinette was now dying to know the answer to. “What’s your love language?”
“Love language?” Adrien tilted his head with puzzlement. “What’s that?”
Ever the intrepid reporter, Alya quickly whipped out her phone, looking up love languages before showing him the results.
He leaned forward, his shoulder now thankfully away from touching Marinette’s. A small, spiteful voice in her head begged her to lean forward to maintain the contact. She steadfastly ignored it, though, even going so far as to scoot closer to the furthest corner of her chair.
“So there are five different love languages. Words of affirmation, acts of service, gift-giving, quality time, and physical touch. Out of these five, what do you think you give out the most to the people you love?”
Adrien hummed after Alya’s explanation, tapping his chin in deep thought. “Hmm, I’d probably say words of affirmation. That’s about declaring your feelings with words, right?”
Before her best friend could answer, though, Marinette interrupted with a shout, “Ha! I knew it!”
As soon as she had finished, she cursed herself for her little outburst because Adrien had now turned to look at her. The full effect of his glimmering emerald green eyes was now on her and her face quickly erupted into a pink flush.
“Is that what you thought the answer would be, Marinette?”
There was a little smirk on his lips that caused her heart to flip in her chest. Nodding her head slowly, she stuttered, “I, uh, w-well, yeah. I-I thought goo... I-I mean you like to words.”
Marinette’s palms itched to slap her face with embarrassment. He likes to words?! What does that even mean?
Adrien simply laughed at her goof, patting her shoulder affectionately. Had she fallen through the floor yet? Because it certainly felt like she had just melted with his touch. “Well, you’re right. I do like using words. I am curious, though. What did you think the answer was, Alya?”
He turned back around to look at her. Her gaze was locked on his hand which was still resting on Marinette’s shoulder.
“Physical touch,” Alya said simply, shrugging her shoulders.
Marinette’s cheeks dusted a light pink at the casual response. She prayed he wouldn’t think too closely about what that meant.
Lifting his hand from her shoulder both too soon and too late, Adrien nodded his head. “That’s a good one, too.” He looked back and forth between the two of them before asking, “Wait... if there’s a love language you like to give is there also one you like to receive?”
“Mhm.” Alya hummed, nodding her head. “It usually depends on the person on whether or not they're the same.”
“Cool,” Adrien said before turning back his emerald eyes back on Marinette. Once again, her heart sped up at his look. “What about you, Marinette? What love language do you like to receive?”
What?! Why was he asking her this? If only she really had melted when he touched her shoulder. “U-um, p-probably words of affirmation,” Marinette said shyly.
Alya laughed at her response, causing her to shoot a glare over at her best friend. Like her answer would have been anything different from whatever Adrien said his was. But, it didn’t hurt that she did genuinely love hearing words of praise the most.
Adrien chuckled, patting her shoulder once again. “Good choice.”
“W-what, um, what about you? What’s your favorite language to receive?” She bit her lip harshly, feeling suddenly hopeful.
“Oh, probably all of them,” he said innocently.
Alya barked out a laugh, causing the two of them to look over at her. She shook her head, eyes glimmering with amusement. “That’s cute, sunshine... but Marinette asked your favorite. There has to be one you prefer over all the others.”
“Hmm...,” he trailed off, brow furrowed in deep thought. “Gift-giving. Yeah, probably gift-giving.”
Marinette instantly lit up, a quiet, pleased hum leaving her lips before she could stop it. Gift-giving! Adrien liked to receive gifts! All at once, she was rather grateful that she did make him a lot of gifts for his next few birthdays.
“Well, if that’s all you needed me for, I should probably get back to my lunch. I’ll see you two in class.” Standing up, he waved at them before heading back to his seat.
As soon as he left, Marinette let out a lovestruck sigh, watching him go as she laid her head on her closed fist. Wasn’t he just the best?
“Oh, he’s so got it bad.” Alya laughed, leaning back in her seat.
Blinking, she tore her gaze away from Adrien to look at her best friend. Blinking, she asked, “What do you mean?”
“I mean that boy is head-over-heels in love with you.”
“What?! But he just proved you wrong! Adrien’s love language is words of affirmation and not physical touch!” Marinette practically shrieked. Alya really needed to stop getting her hopes up. It just wasn’t fair.
“Yeah, but didn’t you hear him? He only asked you what love language you like to receive and he said his favorite is gift-giving. Need I remind you about the gi...”
Before Alya could finish Marinette cut her off with a roll of her eyes. “No, you don’t need to remind me about my gifts! I can’t believe you still think you’re right about this! Can we just agree to disagree and please talk about something else now!”
Now it was Alya’s turn to roll her eyes. “One day you two will figure this out. I only hope I’m still alive to see it happen.”
Marinette scoffed, tearing a huge bite out of her sandwich. Out of the corner of her eye, though, she glanced over at Adrien once again. If only Alya was right. If only he could love her even half as much as she loved him. That really would be the day.

Pajama Picnic
This chapter features spoilers for Protection so plz watch that ep first before reading! Otherwise, lemme know what you think about this lil one-shot tyyy <3
AO3
When Marinette had decided that she was done making complicated plans and overthinking every tiny detail with Adrien, wearing her pajamas to their date seemed like an excellent decision. After all, if he loved her like he said he did then surely her clothes didn’t matter.
And maybe... just maybe a tiny voice inside of her was saying that if it did matter to him, then they could end their brief relationship before she could get truly hurt later on.
Even with that thought, though, Marinette couldn’t help but be struck by an overwhelming sense of embarrassment when Adrien took in her outfit for the first time. Instantly, she wrapped her arms around herself, reminded of that time in the fountain when she wore her pajamas to the movies.
Mentally, she cursed herself as her face flamed. What had she been thinking?! Why had she decided that pajamas were a good idea? Adrien was the son of a famous fashion designer for crying out loud. Marinette was sorely tempted to race out of there and head back home.
Before she could do that, however, Adrien smiled at her. “I... forgot something. Don’t go anywhere!”
He handed her their picnic basket and Marinette felt her heart drop. Was this how he ended things with her? But then why would he tell her not to go anywhere? And why would he hand her the basket?
Nervous anticipation filled her as she stared at the door he went through. She gnawed on her lower lip, shifting from side to side. She should have listened to Tikki.
Even though half of her felt terribly embarrassed, another side of her was feeling more stubborn and proud of her decision. After all, didn’t Marinette just say that she was done with all of the overthinking and complicated decisions?
This was a step in the right direction. Even if Adrien didn’t feel the same way.
When that door opened, though, Marinette felt all of her fears and stubborn anger fall away. Standing straight ahead of her was Adrien Agreste. A smile on his face and pajamas in place of his usual clothes.
“It’s better this way,” he said before closing the door.
Her face softened with fondness. This was exactly why she loved him. He knew her so well. Batted away her worries and anxieties like they were nothing.
How could she have ever thought that he’d do anything differently?
Adrien strolled closer, taking the picnic basket back into his hands before holding the door to the garden open for her.
When she got outside, Marinette gasped. It was absolutely beautiful.
Adrien’s bedspread was placed neatly on the ground, a picnic blanket on top of it. Different colored pillows were spread out along the blankets. Delicious-smelling food was carefully situated in different trays. Above this beautiful display were colorful, triangular flags that were hanging delicately from strings.
Resting her elbows on the railing, Marinette whispered, “Wow.”
She turned around, only to blush. Adrien was already waiting for her, his hand outstretched. She took it, her flush growing darker as he guided her down to their wonderfully decorated picnic.
Kneeling on the blanket, a wave of curiosity hit her as Adrien placed the basket beside her. There was already dessert and snacks in trays and plates, so what could be in the basket?
“Adrien, what’s in there?” she asked, pointing at the basket.
“Take a look,” he said, flipping open the lid as he gestured for her to take a peek.
Giddiness filled her as she looked inside. Inside was a gaming console with a multitude of different games. There were also two controllers and Marinette glanced over at Adrien joyfully.
All this time she thought that he didn’t know her that well. But, based on this, he remembered her love of games fondly. Even wanting to play with her after she had beaten him handily the last time they had played.
Instead of seeing the grin that Marinette expected to see on Adrien’s face, though, he suddenly seemed uncertain. She watched as he scratched the back of his neck, the telltale sign that he was nervous. “Ah, maybe you would rather watch a movie?”
She tossed the controller at him, already holding hers as she smirked over at him teasingly. “You’re kidding, right?”
It felt good to put him at ease. Instantly, Adrien smiled, all signs of his prior uncertainty gone as they began to play Ultimate Mecha Strike. They both laughed as their fingers mashed the buttons, each trying their best to beat the other.
In the end, though, Marinette won. She cheered after the finishing blow, her fist pumping in the air as she threw her head back in a loud laugh.
“Beat ya,” she sang, looking over at him smugly.
Adrien shot her a playful glare before gesturing his head at the screen. “That was all luck! Best two out of three.”
Marinette scoffed, competitiveness fueling her as she smiled at him teasingly. “You’re on! Because I know I’ll win again. You’re rusty!”
“You did not just call me rusty!” His eyes narrowed even further even as a grin spread on his lips.
“What are you going to do about it?” She smirked back at him.
Adrien simply flexed his hands, setting them up for another round. Once again, the two engaged in a match as Marinette’s fingers flew with ease over the controls. Though Adrien did play better this time, taking her down to about half-health, she ended their round with a triple combo that depleted the remainder of his character’s health.
“Triple hit combo, Marinette style! Booyah!” Marinette stood up with a hearty cheer. “I win again!”
Sitting back down, she glanced smugly over at Adrien. “How’s that for luck?”
He held his hands up in mock surrender, chuckling at her fondly. “I admit it! You are the better player. Maybe I am rusty.”
“No, you’re not.” She giggled with a shake of her head, pigtails swaying in the breeze. “You were a lot closer to winning this time rather than last time.”
“Closer to winning? I only took you down to about half health,” Adrien practically whined, flopping down onto one of the pillows.
“Which was better than last time,” Marinette said, slowly resting her own head on a pillow.
The two of them stared up at the clouds and suddenly, Marinette wondered why she had let her fear keep her from talking with Adrien. It was easy! Like they understood each other and knew exactly what to say or do to cheer the other up. Like they had been talking like this for years instead of these past few weeks.
“What do you see?” Adrien asked, pointing up at a cloud.
“Hmm,” Marinette hummed before her eyes lit up. “A starfish!”
Peering up at the sky, she then pointed at the next cloud she saw. “What do you see in that one?”
“A horse,” Adrien said before directing his gaze to another cloud. “How about that one?”
Marinette flushed as soon as she saw it. All she could see was the image of them engaged in a kiss. And, honestly, she really wanted to. She had only kissed him once, very briefly, at the Grevin Museum and her lips tingled at the thought of doing it again.
Right now there were no classmates pressuring her or anxiety rushing through her. It was just him and her, gazing up at the clouds together.
Feeling bold, she carefully reached out, hesitantly brushing her fingers against his. It was warm and a shiver ran up her spine at the contact. She left her hand there, her pinky and index finger just barely touching his.
Before she knew it, Adrien’s hand seemed to move ever so slightly closer, hovering above hers shyly. She took it, intertwining her fingers with his as sparks danced along her palm and up her shoulder.
It felt wonderful.
He turned his head, softly asking, “Are you sure you’re ready?”
Yes, she was. She had been ready ever since he handed her his umbrella that day in the rain.
Marinette turned her head to face his, pink dusting her cheeks as she whispered, “Yes.”
Together, they leaned in, their heads practically touching as their entangled hands came up to rest next to them. Her eyes fluttered closed as her heart beat erratically in her chest.
“I’ve never admired the clouds in my pajamas with anyone before. Is it always this amazing?” he asked, his lips inches from hers.
Marinette leaned even closer, ready to tell him everything. “Adrien, I...”
Before she could whisper just how much she loved and adored him, though, she was interrupted by a yell. She yanked away from Adrien, feeling bereft as her hand left his. An akuma stood atop the garden, her sword pointed at them.
Marinette’s heart dropped at the sight. Their pajama picnic had now come to an end. Now was the time to stop thinking about kissing him and start thinking about where she could go to transform.
Shooting a quick glance over at him, Marinette was suddenly filled with determination. She would protect him!

Cloudgazing
Anddd, I’m back with chapter 25 of Adrienette April hehe. Once again, this chap is set post-Protection so plz watch that ep first <3. Lemme know what you think!
AO3
Ever since the day that Adrien invited Marinette to his house for a picnic, they had even more outdoor dates. This time, though, neither of them were in their pajamas.
Currently, they were outside Place des Vosges. He and Marinette were laying down on a picnic blanket as they gazed up at the sky. Several plates were beside them, nibbles taken out of the delicious, homemade food that Marinette had brought. White, poofy clouds floated above them, and, taking turns, they asked the other what they saw in them.
When Marinette pointed out the bird she saw in the most recent one, Adrien sucked in a deep breath. Deciding to be brave, he slowly reached out, gently brushing his pinky fingers against hers.
Marinette turned her face to look at him with a soft, sweet smile. She took her thumb, rubbing it over the back of his hand gently. Warmth rushed up from where she caressed him, causing his cheeks to flush.
Slowly, he intertwined their fingers, feeling giddy when Marinette didn’t pull away. Holding her hand was quickly becoming one of his favorite pastimes. Adrien had never imagined that something so simple could make butterflies roar to life in his chest. It was such a giddy, euphoric feeling.
As they lay there hand in hand, Adrien couldn't help but feel grateful for this moment. He was so glad that he finally realized just how much he utterly adored Marinette. She was kind, creative, and so much fun to be around! Being with her made him feel happy and at ease. He couldn’t imagine doing this with anyone else but her.
He turned his head to look at her, his eyes drawn to the way the sunlight caught her hair and how her eyes sparkled with laughter as she pointed out another cloud shape.
“That’s a dinosaur,” Marinette said. “Look! You can even see the way his head is thrown back in a mighty roar!”
In awe of her adorable laughter, Adrien couldn't resist the urge to lean in a little closer, feeling his heart rate quicken as he did so. His eyes darted down to her lips, wanting to kiss them once more. It had been so long since he’d done so.
The one at the museum had been too brief, and he had been too overwhelmed with guilt to properly enjoy the kiss he shared with her as Chat Noir.
Marinette noticed his movement, though, and turned to look at him. For a moment, they just gazed into each other's eyes, their hands still intertwined. She blinked at him curiously, tilting her head at him. His heart was racing in his chest, but he couldn't bring himself to look away. Her sapphire eyes were drawing him in, making their surroundings practically melt around him.
Finally, Marinette broke the silence. "Adrien, is everything okay?" she asked, her voice gentle and concerned. “You haven’t pointed out any cloud formations in a while.”
Adrien swallowed hard, feeling a lump form in his throat. "Yeah, everything's fine," he said, his voice coming out in a whisper. "I just...I really like spending time with you, Marinette."
Her face softened into a smile. Her cheeks turned a light pink, and she ducked her head down slightly. "I like spending time with you too, Adrien," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. She glanced up at him from beneath her lashes, causing the butterflies to swarm in his stomach once more.
Adrien gave her a smile in return before turning his gaze back up to look at the clouds. “Look! Doesn’t that one look like a kangaroo?”
“Yeah! It does!” Marinette giggled, staring up at the sky.
They fell into a comfortable silence once again, gazing up at the clouds and enjoying the warmth of each other's company. He couldn’t stop his mind from racing, though. He wanted desperately to come up with the right words to express just what he was feeling. He knew he wanted to tell Marinette how much she meant to him, but he didn't want to scare her off.
After all, she knew that he loved her, but he didn’t want to seem like he was trying to push her into something she wasn’t quite ready for. Adrien wanted Marinette to feel comfortable around him, like how he did with her.
After a few more minutes of quiet contemplation, Adrien finally spoke up. Words practically burst forth from his chest as he tried to tell her just how much she meant to him, without spooking her. "Marinette, I just want you to know that you're one of the most amazing people I've ever met. You're kind, creative, and so talented. I feel really lucky to know you."
Marinette's cheeks flushed pink, but she smiled at him. "Thank you, Adrien," she said. "That means a lot to me."
He grinned back, feeling overjoyed that she hadn’t stuttered or run away from him as she would have before. Slowly, he was proving to her that she could trust him with her heart. That he would never hurt her. Could never even dream of it. He loved her too much.
They lay there for a few more minutes, basking in the warmth of the sun and each other's company. Adrien felt a sense of contentment wash over him like everything was right in the world.
At that moment, he didn’t worry about his father, or Nathalie, or his responsibilities. No, this time he let himself forget about the stresses of his life and just enjoyed his short time with Marinette. This was truly one of the best dates he could have ever had.
As the sun began to set, they packed up their picnic and started to head back to Marinette’s house. As they slowly began their short walk, Adrien couldn't shake the feeling that something had shifted between them, that their bond had deepened in some way. That both of them trusted the other even more than they had prior.
As they walked, both of their steps slow to prolong their time together, Adrien took a deep breath and turned to Marinette. "Hey, Marinette?" he said, his voice hesitant.
"Yeah, Adrien?" she replied, looking up at him.
He took a deep breath. "Do you think you’d like to come back to my house for another pajama date this weekend?"
Marinette's eyes widened, but she didn't seem taken aback. In fact, a small smile tugged at the corners of her lips. She took his hand, squeezing it in hers. "I'd love to, Adrien," she said. "That sounds like a lot of fun."
Adrien felt a sense of relief wash over him like a weight had been lifted from his shoulders. "Great!" he said, his voice a little too enthusiastic. "I'll plan something really special, I promise."
Marinette giggled. "I'm sure it will be amazing. The last one was beautiful," she said, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.
“No akuma this time. I promise,” Adrien said with a soft chuckle, shaking his head.
As they arrived at her house, they said their goodbyes. He didn’t want to leave her, though, desperate to spend another few moments with Marinette.
It didn’t feel new, though. This feeling in his chest begged to be as close to her as possible. It felt like it had always been there. Only now, Adrien recognized just what that feeling meant.
The two of them shifted on their feet, neither of them willing to part just yet. After a few more quiet moments, he felt like he was finally ready to hesitantly take those first few steps away from her. Before he could, though, Marinette stood on her tip-toes, and ever so softly, kissed him.
It was over before Adrien could even register it. Almost feeling shorter than their kiss at the Grevin Museum.
“G-goodnight, Adrien!” Marinette said before practically rushing through the bakery doors.
He blinked in astonishment, rubbing his bottom lip as he was suddenly hit with dizziness. Turning around, that dizziness turned into pure joy. Marinette had kissed him! Yes! Slowly, he was making her fall in love with him again.
Shooting one last glance at the bakery over his shoulder, Adrien began to make his way home. A wide, dopey grin was on his face as he began his journey, forgetting to text the Gorilla to pick him up.
