Mrs Flood being Susan would be really funny tho. Because you have Susan Triad: this perfect, lovely peoples person who wants to help everyone, dangled as Susan. She has dreams! Could be fobwatched! The Doctor's wonderful lovely perfect granddaughter returned!

But Susan wasn't a perfect person. So instead it's the woman who can be sharp, blunt, and even a little bit mean. But who is also mischievous and fun when she wants to be. Someone who's just a bit odd. All of which, imo, can be very Susan.

Someone who has clearly lived a life. Sitting at the sidelines being enigmatic as hell. Her grandfather's granddaughter. Just think It'd be such a good twist

Some behind the scenes tidbits I feel normal about (classic who edition):

- apparently every story Matthew Waterhouse's hairstylist would say they were going to trim his hair and never did, resulting in all the variations from crusader triangle to fuck ass bob to shaggy mullet

-Peter Davison was unaware he was many people's sexual awakening in his dressing gown in black orchid

-Colin baker was mistaken for a runner by another actor in arc of infinity and asked to go fetch a coffee (which he did)

-he would also walk around making chicken noises on the set of arc of infinity (until he was told to stop)

-Matthew didn't know adric died in part four of earthshock until he read Peter's script whilst shooting, and was apparently more upset over the fact he was being killed off rather than just leaving

-a lot of the doctor who movie was filmed in the same building as the X-files

-Janet Fielding was told she was good casting for doctor who because she "looked slightly alien"

-Deborah Watling and Frazer Hines used to joke that she left the show because she got pregnant, as she left almost nine months after arriving

-Sylvester Mccoy once couldn't find a filming location until after the doctor who fans, who had been waiting there for an hour

-Paul Mcgann thought all the doctors companions were their kids

-Peter and Sarah Sutton had to stop Janet from accidentally prostituting herself in the red light district

-Sylvester once played the spoons on a guy that tried to menace him

-Paul had to wear a wig because he was casted with the long hair you see in the movie but cut it all off for another role a couple months before they started filming

-Janet called Matthew "matte-finish" and "boom-boom waterhouse" whilst filming earthshock

-the cast bought a prop gun for arc of infinity from a sex shop in amsterdam

(Just to stress I obviously don't know the validity of these I just sourced them from interviews and commentaries!! Please don't come for me if these aren't accurate! These are just some funny things I've heard and if anyone else knows any random facts or stories feel free to reblog/share!!)

I think old interviews and reading/listening to DWEU stuff has slow cooked me into being a bit of a one-sided Turlough/Five shipper (maybe, maybe not) out of pure pragmatism, because these writers are constantly introducing ship-tease / love interests for Turlough and just. Not really doing anything with them because obviously you can't develop one-off characters into influential fully-fledged convincing relationships. And you can't do Tegan x Turlough because no, and then they try to do the whole 'Turlough was in love with Nyssa' thing and it's like okay?? If you factor in the older!Nyssa arc and those three years they spent in Brisbane then maybe, but also we all know by now that she either ends up with her husband or later probably Tegan so that's not going to go anywhere.

And at best the reason I can come up with for why they keep doing this is because Mark Strickson might have had an interest in Turlough having a love interest on the show just because it would have given him a more well-developed relationship with another character and maybe something to do post-Enlightenment. So everyone just keeps on bending over backwards, trying to conjure a female love interest for Turlough, who is both long-term and convincing, and it's like.

Guys. I can think of someone who he has a long-term relationship with and who was also key to his character arc and who he also literally defied god for.

Like *hand on their shoulder* There is another way. But you're not going to like it.

yeah on gay doctor who in a universe different yet oddly similar to our own caves of androzani is a turlough story and hes gotten kidnapped by a mad scientist in fetish gear for his beauty and the doctor must save his life by pouring milk into his mouth

Something something luke's mind is so powerful he pulled the moon down and shoved it back into place and was fine, he helped turn off the sun because he thought it was a science club exercise. I am Everyone. Something something his mind is so inconceivable he was able to yell at a monster across dimensions, was able to pull his friends through the walls of a different reality, was so so powerful and so so scared that he gave a noncorporeal psychic alien physical form without even meaning to. Do you think aliens learn to run instead of scaring luke smith. He ran the risk of feeding earth's entire population to an alien just to save his mum. He needs to be alone, to be scared he has to be alone. Mind reading/erasing technology doesn't even work on him, his latent psychic power is literally unquantifiable. You made the monster real luke. He talked a bomb out of going off. He learned and coded in a completely new language in under thirty seconds, he has a perfect memory, he can never forget anything. His worst fear was being replaced and it happened but it was okay, right? Come back and face me! Please don't leave me alone. His centre of the universe died and he works in the organisation she did everything she could to avoid. What did luke get in the will. He macduff-ed his way into killing a guy because according to the stars, he doesn't exist. He's human, technically. Brilliant brilliant brilliant, you think he ever gets sick of it? Just another way to say different. He doesn't dream but he hallucinated the woman who created him, his teeth don't decay, his body will never rot. If the show was realistic he wouldn't have been made to last. He killed people and almost died the day he was born. He was born running and never stopped, because what will be there when he looks back. He has a husband but doesn't talk to his friends. He has a metal dog. I thought it would get easier, but there are always new things coming along to make me feel different.

I'm nearing the end of s18 and I never really knew what to expect from Adric because most of everything I've seen of him is him being a little shit, so I wasn't sure if I was gonna be the biggest fan of him,,, I love this little guy! He is a little bastard with the face of an angel! His chaotic little shithead energy is off the charts!!! he will stowaway in your ship and then proceed to almost betray you IMMEDIATELY!!! He is very reminiscent of the smug looking cat with the knife pointed at it I love it.
