The orphanage had a lot of new additions this week so it’s now extremely full. I also built a new home for them so all of these kids and teens are moving into a new place.
At the top: Komei and Seven Miguel, who run the orphanage together.
Below them, from left to right: Desmond Duncan, Perissa Záhorovský, Raymon Duncan, Conrad Duncan, Homer Duncan, Cerulean Bruenig, Wanda Duncan and Vance Duncan.
Bottom row from left to right: Enola Záhorovský, Joy Duncan, Dina Duncan, Carolina Duncan, Adrian Duncan, Althea Duncan (in pink), Lara Duncan (In black), Dixie Duncan, Azul Bruenig and Cherry Miguel
Adrian and Lara and twins Dina and Dixie are siblings and children of Ginger and Sixten Duncan. They had to come here when their mother died and their father couldn’t take care of them and older brother Andy alone. The social worker took them away and they were brought here.
Azul and Cerulean are also twins and came here together after their mother Eleanor died and their father Toby Bruenig had a breakdown and had to be commited to the asylum.
Carolina had to come here because both her parents died in the flu epidemic of two rotations ago.
Cherry is the youngest of the group of children that got taken away from Angel and Lillian Miguel.
Conrad, Homer, Joy, Vance, Desmond, Raymon and Wanda were part of a failed challenge and were all adopted from the city by April Duncan. Unfortunately she died soon after adopting them.
Enola and Perissa Záhorovský’s parents Zuki and Chloe Záhorovský also died in the flu epidemic.
Althea Duncan was brought here while the orphanage was still run by Alysse Duncan. No one seems to remember who her parents were.

NO BULBS best of 2021
Listen here: https://www.mixcloud.com/DJRONNY/no-bulbs-best-of-2021/
I really only listened to Velvet Underground bootlegs and M.I.A. in 2021 but here is a list to pretend otherwise. I also gave up on listing only new stuff, I always thought that was stupid as I discover great old shit I never heard before all the time. There are also songs from a couple of unforgettable shows I saw and 2 from the best movie in like the last 10 years or so. Not in this list but should be are the incredible Arita lp that I only discovered this week and the Hellvete “Muziek voor harmonium” lp and a half (aka 1 side of a split) because I already had too much stuff in this list and 20 minute drones weren’t going to make the choice easier but check those out for sure! Amazing stuff!
1.The Velvet Underground - Over you: from a bootleg that came out this year that wasn’t easy to get but totally worth it! My favourite version of this song.
2. Distels - Let no man steal your thyme: bought a bunch of killer lp’s from den Davy, skipped this one at first but some people with excellent taste wondered why no one got this one so I took a chance and wow! Thanks Isabel and Glen!
3. bontridders - Never (always never) (demo): an incredible privilege I have is that my friend Sam sends me demos to check out before almost everybody else hears them and this one is my favorite, one of those songs that pop up in your head unexpectedly and make you wonder what it is. Look out for bontridders to kill it in 2022!
4. Monokultur - Bär deras saker: I’m not that wild about the whole Stockholm scene as some people seem to be, the JJ Ulius lp was ok and I really like Typical Girls (damn, they also should have been in this list!) but the second Monokultur lp is some next level shit, get on it if you haven’t yet
5. Janet Kay - Silly games: from the movie Lovers rock, if you haven’t seen it yet go see it now! NOW I SAID!
6. Tom Tom Club - Lorelei (remix): yeah, controversial opinion: Tom Tom Club are way better than Talking Heads. Listened to them a lot in 2021!
7. ElYotto - SugarCrash!: is hyperpop still a thing? I don’t know, I’m way too old to even know that there is/was(?) such a thing as hyperpop but boy is this some high energy super catchy shit! Better than most punk these days!
8. Prison Affair - Entre barrotes: but luckily there are also still high energy super catchy punk bands like Prison Affair, I hope I will finally get to see them in 2022
9. taqbir - Al-zuki akbar : same as above, also hip as f*ck
10. Brorlab - Mister watch: I saw a bunch of very memorable shows by them (and had some very good hangouts with them), Rockrally 2022 winners!
11. M.I.A. - U.R.A.Q.T.: again, I really only listened to M.I.A., all of the above and below is just posturing
12. Destination Superbe – Daniel : a hit from the new Brussels underground, fresh, weird and catchy! More of this next year please!
13. Glass Candy - feeling without touching: in those rare moments I was in the mood to dance but not in the mood to dance to M.I.A. there was Glass Candy!
14. New Age Steppers - My love: all time fave top 10 song! Neneh Cherry slightly out of tune with backing by Ari Up in a sick Adrian Sherwood production of a beautiful reggae song, you don’t like music if you don’t like this song
15. Lewsberg – Sweets: their new record is great but their amazing show in Gent is really why Lewsberg is here
16. Frankie Traandruppel – Charade: I put out this record, Frankie decided to go next level and I can only be grateful he took me along for the ride
17. Magic Max – Maisie: I said it before and I’ll say it again “Maisie’s tape” is a modern day lofi classic and someone should put it out on vinyl!
18. Itches - Kingdom upstairs (demo): an incredible demo by the new kings of the Kempen garage scene! I heard they are going to release some official shit in 2022 and I AM VERY EXCITED! Also amazing live! And wild! Was talking to Freddie Vangrail about them the other day and Freddie was impressed by their wildness, do you know what that means? Do you realise what kind of crazy shit it takes to impress Freddie Vangrail??? You might not know but I do and it’s some very next level get ready to choose between jail or the insane asylum type of crazy!
19. Bill Gage & Cheaters Slicks - A monster: and talking about that choice, here’s some new and totally unhinged Cheater Slicks for you. With the help of wildman Bill Gage to take it that extra mile to the nuthouse.
20. Batsmasher - Rebellious extensions: lofi hardcore shit recorded on a shitty laptop, they’re a real band now and that’s cool but I will always love this wacked out demo better!
21. Ero Guro - Wanna live: And here are the kings of wacked out, I put out this lp and I’m not even sure if it came out this year or the previous one but who cares? Best liveband in the world when they’re on (see pic).
22. Bayacomputer – Warum: another record I released and the last one in the list I promise. Not a lot of people seem to like this one but I love it! Synthdriven postpunk bangers in all kinds of languages with the best sleeve of the year.
23. Laughing Gear - Private sector: woohoo, more underrated stuff! From Australia no less, the land of overrated bullshit these days but these guys seem to get ignored by the connaiseurs, catchy hi energy synthpop but with a screaming lunatic on vocals instead of some cute pop queen (also would have been great by the way!)
24. Special Interest - Street pulse beat (Boy Harsher remix): kind of the same description as the above, what can I say, really fell for the synth last year (the screaming lunatics have always been there)
25. Dachau David – Pills: and talking about synths! Awesome news about this song coming soon!!!
26. A Trois Sur La Plage - Bonjour tristesse: again with the synths? So good, melancholic synthpop only the French can pull off without sounding like crybaby’s
27. NOV3L - Falling in line: great summer record if the summer is an oppressive covid nightmare
28. Milk TV – Anorak: supercatchy supergroovy postpunk banger from Brussels (again Brussels, Brussels for the win in 2022 I tell ya!)
29. Geo – Prehension : Dutch postpunk, their songs go everywhere but stay on point the whole time, incredible! Looking forward to more Geo sounds next year!
30. Etran De L'Air - Toubouk ine chihoussay: these guys set Het Bos on fire, my favourite show of the year, not a lot of people I know agree but Orlan does (well, didn’t really talk to him about it but he was upfront the whole time dancing harder than I did so he must agree!) and I really don’t know Orlan that well but his boyfriend wears a pearl choker so you know he’s got excellent taste!
31. Cristina - La poupée qui fait non : I had this on repeat a million times when I discovered it and people who don’t really like disco came asking about it when I played it in my DJ-sets, whatever works to put people onto weird disco!
32. Purrses - rester loin: hey look, it’s only another killer band from Brussels! BRUSSELS! 2022!
33. Outta Here – Peace: da Fik from Poppel does his thing solo and guess what? It sounds like Poppel! That means awesome by the way.
34. Hermanos Driesos – Pintjes: another Poppel guy doing Poppel type stuff, in Flemish even! Frisse pintjes means cold beers for people who might not understand Flemish, sometimes knowing what a song is about makes it even better and I think that is the case with this one!
35. The Shovels - Naar de maan: oh man, I still get goosebumps when I think about Erik Debny & Nele’s show in the Brorlab shop basement (they’re both in this band and played this song)
36. Nathan Roche - Brocante à Belleville: saw a great show in Brussels (again Brussels!) by Nathan and played the shit out of his solorecord. Also the Villejuif Underground show in Liège was the second best show of 2021, together with the Brorlab Overlast show that is.
37. The Revolutionaries - Kunta Kinte version 1: another track from the Lovers Rock movie, have you seen it yet? Why are you still reading this? GO SEE THE MOVIE!
38. Car Parts - Tattooed cat: the Fake Indians guy when he was 10 or so doing his best Guided By Voices long before he knew what GBV was or that they were going to be his favourite band.
That was it, hope you liked listening to and reading this! Have a great 2022 and see you in the pit!!!
