Often times after the day is over and everyones tasks are done, he's (and you tbh) very tired so he'll kinda just.... scoop you up and plop you on the bed with him.

No books or scrolls though, he only wants you to be focused on each other.

Look I adore the head canon witches can purr, but look at this man. Look at this man and tell me he cannot purr. He absolutely does. (If you can too, whoever walks by the room would swear a motor engine was starting up or smth)

“And now, y/n l/n as the next head of the plant coven!”

You swiftly removed your hood, staring into the camera with the same bright smile you had as the moment you received the news.

“Thank you so much for this opportunity! Im thrilled to be working with such high powered witches, it’s truly an honor.”

You sighed, your smile softening as the camera turned off and you turned to look at all your fellow coven heads. Most started to file out but a few remained, including the heads of the bard and abomination covens and the head of the Illusionist coven as well. You made your way over to the illusionist as the other two were indulged in their own conversation.

“It’s a pleasure to be working with you Mr…?” You trailed off, hoping for him to complete the sentence as you hadn’t been informed of his name. He looked you up and down before rolling his eyes and setting his hands at his hips.

“Graye. It’s Adrian Graye Vernworth.” Before you could respond he had already started walking away. With a confused expression you stepped over to the other two coven heads who were finishing up their conversation. The one with glasses and mint hair smiled and reached out their hand to greet you.

“Glad to have you on the team! Im Raine, and this is Darius” After introducing yourself the three of you made small talk, eventually these two would grow to become your best friends.

A few months had passed and over the time Adrian continued to be sour towards you. He distanced himself, ignoring you. It angered you. Infuriated you. Everyone else was kind and open with you while he was somewhat hostile.

You had enough. The Emperor had to leave, causing the meeting to be cut short. Everyone was gone and just as Adrian was leaving you gently grasped his arm. “Wait!”

He looked at you, his face twisting in confusion. You let go of his arm as he turned around to look at you. His foot tapped against the ground, trying to get out of the too small room as fast as possible.

“What do you want.”

“Why do you hate me.” You bluntly let out the truth. You noticed as his eyes widened slightly and his mouth clicked shut.

“Excuse me?” He said, a nervous smile painting his face as he let out soft giggle of anxiousness.

You repeated the question. “Why do you hate me.”

His smile dropped and he stood there, the gears in his head churning as he figures out the right words to say.

“I don’t hate you.”

“Then why are you always avoiding me? Why do you go out of your way to cut our conversations short?”

He put a hand to your shoulder and smiled as a soft pink dusted his cheeks.

“Because you dazzle me. You make me so nervous I get scared I’ll mess up and a make a fool of myself.”

You stood there, stunned. He quickly covered his mouth with one of his hands and paced away. You stood there for a good few minutes with your thoughts before leaving. So he doesn’t hate you. He thinks you’re amazing. You sat in your room, thinking about what he said.

“Dazzle.”

“I Dazzle him.”

You laid down, looking out the window at the extensive pit of spikes. You thought about him. His face. The way his tail starts to swing back and forth when he gets excited or happy. How he always has a bit of fur on the back of his neck. The cute little pride flags he keeps in his office. Everything about him.

“I think he dazzles me too.”

TOH WITH A IMMORTAL READER!

Okay so this wasn’t a specific request or anything so I’m just going to answer here with how I think each character would cope with having an immortal significant other. This got very long as I included basically everyone that’s on my masterlist… oops!

Also, to reiterate, these are just my thoughts so they’re very biased towards how I interpret the characters — and your relationship with the characters can be romantic or queer-platonic or similar depending on your preference!

Thoughts below the cut!

Adrian Graye-Vernworth

doesn’t even remotely believe you at first and will probably assume you’re joking. but once he does recognise your honesty then he’ll probably have something of a breakdown for a while and step back from your relationship — equal parts jealous of the life you’ve lived and horrified at the idea of just being a blip on the radar of your infinite life. it’s 50/50 whether this is a dealbreaker for him and he’ll either slowly inch back into your relationship or just break up with you because of the stress.

Alador Blight

alador is mostly neutral to your immortality when it comes to your relationship. like he’ll call on you for a second opinion when he’s working on something and will draw on your experience to further help his fellow witches — but he doesn’t really think about it any beyond that. though he does sometimes worry about you and how you’ll cope when he’s gone (because he knows that losing you would break him).

Amity Blight

when you tell her it’s quite the shock to the system and she doesn’t really know what to say or how to react. she’ll freeze up and you can see her thinking as she considers her response before she finally squeezes your hands and thanks you for telling her. she’d want to stay with you and wouldn’t want to break up, but she’d definitely have a few crises over the fact that you’ve lived so long before her and you will live so long after — but she also finds a small bit of comfort in the idea that she’ll never have to live without you.

Belos / Philip Wittebane

he’s been alive for far longer than he ever should have been because of his mission, so the idea of immortal entities isn’t difficult for him to believe. so upon finding out about your condition, he’s amazed but not necessarily startled by it — asking you about your origins and if there are more beings like you out there. if he truly cares about you, he’ll stick by you for as long as he’s able to keep his form stable — but if he doesn’t then he’ll just use you to find a way to complete his goal and lengthen his life further.

Boscha

boscha is someone else who wouldn’t believe you when you told her — going from genuine disbelief to shaky doubt to outright terrified denial and then through the stages of grief as she comes to terms with your condition. as sad as it sounds, this would probably end up being a deal breaker and would end your relationship as she would struggle too much with your past and future to be with you beyond that.

Camila Noceda

she doesn’t believe you at first, thinking that you’re just older than her as she’s seen some strange things but immortality is just so far beyond that. it takes her some time to come to terms with this but you do end up bonding over the losses you’ve experienced throughout your lives — you, your various lovers and friends, and her, luz’s father. she insists on learning your native language and teaching you hers so that you have an experience to remember her by.

Collector

having an immortal significant other would be the best case scenario for collector given his own life span. they wouldn’t have to worry about losing you prematurely and you’d be able to understand the issues he’s faced throughout their long life — whilst also having all the time in the world to grow with him and together as a couple. so they would be hopeful to have a spouse with this trait.

Darius Deamonne

this wouldn’t be a dealbreaker for darius but he would have a serious, long conversation about where you both stand and how your experiences would impact your relationship. he wouldn’t necessarily ask about your past relationships but he would be curious about older ages of magic on the isles and how other realms function — and especially how that can help the rebellion against belos.

Eberwolf

they’re pretty chill about the whole thing, honestly — like it rarely ever comes up in conversation so there’s no real impact on your relationship. you two just continue vibing together and spending the time you have wisely (by having fun) without the stresses such a realisation often bring. really they’re the best person you could have told — they only bring it up once or maybe twice and it’s only to make fun of you (lovingly, of course).

Eda Clawthorne

your immortality means that you have more knowledge of the world before belos and, thus, wild magic and magic as a whole. this means that eda will be looking to you to learn more about the owl beast, the history of those like her and if you ever came to know others with similar curses. she’d also insist on you teaching her about the people you loved and she’ll happily talk about raine (she’s far from the jealous type, but she is something of a gossip). she doesn’t care about making scrapbooks or taking pictures and prefers living in the moment with you and your family — living in the ‘doing’ world rather than focusing on capturing every little thing. you’ll look back on this with king and fleetingly wish you had more pictures, but the memory of her laugh and smile is tangible enough that neither of you feel like you’re missing out on too much.

Edric Blight

he will probably have something of an existential crisis about his own mortality when you tell him and would insist on finding a way to make himself live as long as you do. he starts comparing himself to the people you loved and lost and you’ll end up having to talk him into getting some help for it. your relationship will be permanently changed by this, but you will grow and heal with time — it’s just such a shock for him that he takes a bit of a mental health wobble whilst he comes to terms with it.

Emira Blight

em tends to bottle up her feelings a lot and will initially come off as very accepting and calm about the whole thing — but make no mistake this poor woman is one mislabelled jar of seasoning away from a breakdown. she’s now very aware of her own mortality and that she’s one of the probably dozens you’ve loved and lost and she’s absolutely terrified of being forgotten and lost to the sands of time. she’ll insist on keeping thorough, reliable records of your time together and by the time she’s old and you’re young you’ll be spending your last days together looking over them and laughing and crying and holding each other — finally ready to say goodbye.

Gus Porter

he will bombard you with questions about your life nonstop. did you ever live in the human realm? how has it changed? how has the boiling isles changed? there’s so much he wants to know and he has all the time in the world to listen to you talk — and he will note down everything you say and look at you with complete interest. so yeah he’ll still love you just as much as before, he’s just very nosy and eager to learn.

Hunter Wittebane

hunter is someone that would likely have a few hang-ups regarding true- and pseudo- immortality given his status as a clone/grimwalker. he’d have to do a lot of thinking regarding your relationship once he found out and a lot of serious conversations would be had about his natural lifespan compared to yours. in the end you would stay together and he’d be with you for a significant period of it (a few hundred years given him being similar to palismen) with him insisting that you don’t bring him back once he’s gone.

Lilith Clawthorne

she’d be absolutely entranced by your condition and would start fangirling over everything you must have experienced. you’ll end up getting interviewed and documented in every way possible as she asks about your history in and beyond the isles. though she might spend a bit more time on the deadwardian period than anything else (she’s biased, okay!).

Luz Noceda

luz would be amazed with you and would be eager to learn your story — as well as just about everything about you. she wants to learn your native language and hear about the cultures and people you knew throughout the years, especially if it involves some form of magic. she does, however, insist on making lots of memories with you and recording them so you never forget her.

Mattholomule

another one that doesn’t believe you but in mattholomule’s case he never ends up believing you. in his mind you’re just making a weird joke and there comes a point where you just stop trying to correct him and just live your life out with him — watching him grow old and grey whilst you remain the same. it’s on his death bed when he finally realises, but the life you shared was full of laughter and love so neither of you find it in yourselves to complain.

Odalia Blight

she is the type to use your status to her advantage which means that your relationship dynamic would inevitably shift. like she’d still care about you and be as affectionate as before, but she insists on showing you off and presenting herself as the wife of an immortal being in order to put herself above her fellow witches. you can tell her to knock it off. it will not work.

Raine Whispers

raine is heartbroken for you when they realise just how much you’ve lost throughout your life and they insist on memorialising your lost loved ones however they can. they help you write ballads for deceased lovers and learn to play songs from your home (even if their pronunciation is very shaky) because they care so deeply about you. they don’t talk about their concerns often, but they do ask that you remember them — and they leave you plenty of songs behind to do so.

Steve

as he’s quite possibly the most chilled out person in the boiling isles, steve doesn’t really care about the fact that you’re immortal. like when you tell him he’ll ask you a few questions about yourself and your past, but otherwise your relationship will stay the same and he’ll keep on keeping on. might expect the occasional cool story from your past, though, when you’ve both been drinking some apple blood.

Terra Snapdragon

she will most likely treat this as an opportunity to gain more power through your relationship. like she does care for you as you are her spouse at the end of the day, but she’s also incredibly power-hungry and having a partner who is immortal and has more experience than basically every other living entity is the ideal opportunity for her to get what she wants. so she definitely wouldn’t leave you, but the dynamic between the two of you would definitely change.

Viney

this wouldn’t be the end of your relationship but it would change a lot. viney insists on the two of you continuing to live in the moment together, focusing on making lasting memories doing things that you both love so that you never forget her. that means frequent fun dates, time spent teaching as a team, helping everyone you can and just spending time together doing what you love and having as much fun as you can whilst doing so.

Willow Park

willow is shocked by the revelation of your immortality but she doesn’t make too much of a big deal of it. like she will sit down with you and discuss anything you want to talk about, but generally your relationship remains unchanged. the only change is that she starts writing letters for you and hiding them — wanting to leave something behind for you once she’s gone.

Adrian Graye 

The man you’ve been avoiding since that blessing in disguise of a day off. When you woke up that day it had become apparent what happened the night before. The moment you had realized that you rushed out of bed, left some cash/snails to pay for the inn bill and left. But little did you know the certain coven head was already awake. 

Next few days were filled with paranoia. You served as guard captain under Belos so you had no reason to be paranoid that much but for some reason, you felt so insecure, like you were being watched. 

One while doing you rounds, kikimora you were called down for whatever reason. So you head down to her office and greeted with the one the only Adrian Fucking Graye Vernworth. 

“Holy fucking shit, no way.”

You think, as you enter. Kikimora gives a quick relay on why you were called here, “If you had not heard, the illusion head master was recently attacked, and has asked emperor Belos for a private guard, you have received that pleasure” She pauses to look at papers “Your shifts begin... tomorrow. You will receive a new schedule tonight. Do you understand?” You say yes in fear of what would happen if you refused. 

The next few days were anxious to say the least. “Does he like remember what happened on that day or like no?” you pondered. You were doing rounds around his area, until accidently running into a corner. You go to turn back but you are greeted with a looming shadow of none other then the coven head himself, Adrian

“Hello sire, how may I be of service of you as of right now.” You say with a bit of a quiver in your voice. “Yes, you can be of service of right now” “How so?” You question “Give me a kiss” He says bluntly with a smile “Excuse me sire?” 

“Did I not make myself clear? I said give me a kiss, not much maybe a peck on the cheek” At this point you’re trying to excuse yourself, without making it uncomfortable “Would you excuse me sire I-” “I said give me a kiss, not much, at least a peck on the cheek. After all you wouldn’t want a little lie about you sleeping with coven head for benefit running around now, would you?”  Well shit, you were stuck now. 

With no other options, you give him what he wants, a small peck on the cheeks, he waits for a moment then, moves out of your way, letting you know that you’re off duty for the rest of your day. He follows to your quarters, and lets you rest there. “Maybe a nap would do me some good...yeah that sounds nice.” You head to sleep. 

Meanwhile with Adrian, he feels like he’s just coming down from heaven. A kiss from his beloved. That night he saw you being cool in solitude and had a taste of you was when he fell in love for sure. He had been stalking making sure you were okay for quite a while and with that little sob story of him getting hurt and a illusions of bruises and such. He had scored the jackpot. With that little kiss of yours, you had just confirmed his delusions. 

You did love him, he was going to make sure of it. He has no intention of giving up.

"You will be amazing" her mother said. "The Emperor might make you Head Bard, if you're lucky"

Y/n didn't want to be Head Bard.

"Or Head Witch" her father chuckled.

Y/n didn't want to be Head Witch either. She just wanted to sing. But now that she was court singer, she was trapped.

"I can't believe this" Adrian grumbled. "Why do I have to go to this stupid thing?"

Moodily, the Illusionest sat down in his assigned seat, still grumbling under his breath. Soon, the lights dimmed, and the the lights shown on a small girl.

For some reason, the girls s/c skin, e/c eyes, and her h/l h/c hair entranced him. He only became more entranced when she opened her mouth.

Im putting money that if Annie was a dude she would be the most popular male character in the show next to Levi.

Moral grayness, cool demeanor, intellect, badass fighter, tragic backstory, depression, the amount of thirst trap fan edits of her would be unimaginable. No Regrets would’ve been about her. Hordes of straight aot fan girls would’ve dominated Tumblr with their Adrian I mean Annie x fem!reader self-ship mini fics.

Yeah. She would NOT have been one of the most controversial characters in aot. She would’ve been a fan favorite. Lay off your “reasoning” and your moral policing, the only reason she’s controversial is cuz she’s a woman.

While it's true that Annie's character development was extremely rushed and awkwardly placed within the narrative, I'd like to also add that part of the reason why she's so vehemently hated has to do with the fact that she's an unapologetic, morally gray female character and people are much less likely to give her the benefit of the doubt as opposed to a male character with the exact same qualities.

He had found you when outside of Bonesborough. He had been trying to find Caleb after his brother walked too far from him.

He stumbled upon you who was perched on top of a rock and putting on a little show for yourself. You seemed to not really notice the human until you felt the feeling of eyes on you.

Once spotting Phillip you practically begged him to sit down and watch the show. Phillip isn't a man who can easily be persuaded by looks but how could he saw no to those eyes?

He talked with you after the show and was rather shocked to find out that you were rather a creepster. Your laugh sounded like one that was a bit too happy for any normal witch to have, as well as your shrunken pupils that looked as if it's seen every war in existence. You weren't rude or angry or any of that. It was more so that you just had a crazed look to you that brought chills down the humans spine.

In some way, he had to respect that you weren't hiding your crude-ity like other witches do. He might even find himself going back towards these little shows of yours, even if it's just to talk to you.

It was rather nice to have private little shows waiting for him just out of town. If he's feeling kind one day, he might even bring Caleb with him to one of your shows one day.

If anyone else finds out that you exist though, you might have to get sued to doing those shows in his home.

He wasn't really the type to leave Bonesborough but after the golden guard went on a mission that caused him to get a sprained ankle, he decided to take up some of Hunters shifts so the poor kid can rest.

He was on his way back from the mission when he spotted you. You were just kind of sitting out in the middle of nowhere entertaining yourself when he walked up to you and not so kindly asked what the fuck you were doing.

You were quick to ask him to be a part of the audience and watch the show. He almost laughed at such a proposal. This weird little...thing asking him to sit on the dirty floor and entertain them as they played with dolls? Well...he ended up complying. Mostly because he thought you were like a rapid animal and would bite him if he said no.

He actually ended up enjoying the show and when he came back to the castle from the mission, he proposed that they take you in and keep you to entertain the Scouts to keep their moral and loyalty high, like a jester!! Rebellions had been heightening from their scouts ever since that human came into town after all.

It wasn't long before he decided to privately take back his offer though. After some of the scouts seemed to be enjoying your shows too much for his liking.

Don't you worry your little head though!! You'll still be able to do your shows and have a roof over your head. Just, instead of doing it in the castle, you'll be doing it in a dormitory.

He didn't find you outside of Bonesborough, unlike the others. He most likely saw you after Darius brought you in as a jester of sorts.

Despite him being a man who adores shows and plays, at first he wouldn't even so much as entertain the idea of your shows. Why should he do such to someone of such low rank? For Titans sake, even the scouts were higher ranks than you!!

He ended up accidentally catching one of your puppet shows though when he was searching for some of his scouts for a little mission at the hexside academy. And you know what? He actually loved it! It wasn't a normal type of theatre, but it was still theatre and you were much better at acting than his scouts. Why, under his wing he could even see you becoming the perfect actor.

So he started to stick around more and more. He got into some shit with Darius for that but as if he was going to stop just to please him. He knew Darius wouldn't do anything. Not unless he wanted to get replaced for the day of unity.

Unlike the others, he didn't wait for jealousy to kick in before scooping you up. He's a bit of a brat and will just take what he wants before anyone else can.

And ultimately, you should be thanking him in his eyes!! Under his wing, not only will you be protected but he is going out of his way to heighten your abilities. Though, worry not! He won't use that against you...at least not yet

You'd started your day worried about Luz, who had suddenly gone off the radar and most likely into hiding.

By lunch, you had learned why.

Everything happened so quickly you hadn't had a chance to properly process it all. The Emperor's Coven had attempted to trick the students at Hexside into giving them brands, something that was thankfully thwarted by Gus. You'd spent the rest of the afternoon pushing back against the Illusion Coven Head, Adrian Graye Vernworth.

Thanks to the help of the former Golden Guard, Hunter.

The same boy who had previously attempted to force you to join a Coven against your will not that long ago.

It had quickly become obvious to you that his defection and Luz's disappearance were connected, even before he started dumping all the information he knew about what to expect in the near future. You could sense he wasn't telling the entire story, but you figured anything he hadn't mentioned wasn't necessary and you chose to let the matter go.

That's how you currently found yourself walking into the Paranormatorium with a fresh set of clothes.

He had clearly been in hiding for some time himself, and he desperately needed to clean himself up, but you didn't think having him change into his current grungy outfit would do him much good.

After all the help he'd provided today, it was the least you could do.

He was off in one of the wings when you stepped inside, busying himself with tidying up where you assume he'd been hiding. His back was to you and he didn't make any move indicating he knew you were there.

"Hunter?"

The way he jumped nearly a foot in the air told you your assumption was correct.

He whipped around to look at you, eyes as big as dinner plates as he hurriedly kicked something out of view, ignoring the sound of crinkling bags and clinking cans that followed.

"Am I interrupting?" You asked.

"N-No! Of course not."

His fists were clenched tightly at his sides and he stood as stiff as a rod, but sure, you definitely felt welcome.

You tried to ignore his terrified body language as you climbed onto the stage, holding up the clothes to show him.

"I figured you'd want something clean to change into, so I brought you these..."

He didn't answer you right away, so you thought maybe he didn't hear you, but when you opened your mouth to repeat yourself, he beat you to the punch.

"You didn't have to do that."

Quite the punch, indeed.

You hid your wince as you held them out to him, watching him hesitate before reaching out to take them from you, the tips of his gloved fingers brushing against yours for a brief moment.

"I wanted to."

He looked at the garments in his hands, studying them in silence for a moment. With his eyes off you, you somehow felt more exposed than when he was looking at you.

The awkwardness was palpable, and you weren't sure how to cut through it.

You took a step back when he continued not to say anything.

"Why?"

You stopped, surprised at how quiet the question was.

"Why what?"

His grip on the clothes tightened slightly.

"Why would you be this nice to me after the way I treated you?"

You frowned. "Do you mean after the flyer derby game?"

He didn't have to look at you for you to know that was it.

You tilted your head, slowly stepping closer as to not scare him. You felt like you were in the presence of a frightened animal and anything could send him running.

"You still feel guilty about that?" You asked him.

"Of course I do. I was no different than Graye back then, the only difference was I had you locked in a cage first. And I never even apologized for it."

You heard some fluttering before his Palisman flitted over to rest on his shoulder, and if you didn't know any better, it gave you a look as ashamed as Hunter probably felt.

It was easy to see that he had been put through many wringers lately, a few of them probably self-inflicted.

"Well... No. You didn't apologize." You moved a bit closer. "You only found the airship we were on, distracted that Coven Head long enough to let us escape, and stopped him from taking us in when he caught up to us."

His eyes darted to your hand that was now reaching for his arm, his body tensing and making you stop. He stared, but he didn't move away from you, even when your fingers gently made contact with the skin of his bare arm.

"You did do something similar to what Graye did today. But you also tried to make things right, which is more than we can say for him. And it tells me everything I need to know about you."

He was looking at your face now, looking unsure.

"You don't need to apologize to me, Hunter. I forgave you a long time ago."

His muscles slowly unclenched and he swallowed, nodding as his cheeks and the tips of his ears turned a bit pink.

"But..."

He blinked, looking almost scared again.

You bit your lip before continuing.

"It was very sweet of you to worry about it."

You held your breath as you leaned in, gently pressing your lips to his cheek, careful not to bump against his Palisman. You stayed for only a moment before pulling away, seeing the stunned look on his face.

"I'll leave you alone so you can finish cleaning up."

You stepped away, heading off the stage and looking over your shoulder at him.

"Thanks for coming to our rescue again, Hunter."

You headed for the door, smiling to yourself when you heard excited chirping behind you.

Chapter Thirteen

I walked into the lunch room and got in line. It…didn’t look the most appetizing, but I ignored the way my stomach churned at the sight. Maybe I won’t eat lunch. 

“Hey (y/n)!” I heard Gus shout. Shoot, I was almost out of the cafeteria too. I turned around to see Gus waving at me. “Wanna join me for lunch?” I clutched my lunch tray a little tighter as I felt bad for what I was about to say.

“Sorry Gus, maybe next time,” I smiled sheepishly. “I already told someone else I’d eat with them.” 

I decided to ride my staff to the Paranoratorium since it was high up. But I heard a familiar chirp. Glancing back my eyes widened as Flapjack, as Hunter corrected me once, was flying behind me. I slowed down so it could perch on my shoulder, though holding food in one hand was already making this feat tough. Aaaaand then I noticed Gus on his staff flying right towards us. Which made me quickly take off and enter the Paranoratorium. 

When I entered, Hunter came out of his hiding spot and smiled at me. Only for it to turn into a frown when Gus exclaimed, “What are you doing here, Golden Guard? (Y/n) Why…”

“Wouldn’t you like to know…” Hunter replied mysteriously, stepping in front of me. I covered my face and laughed, which made them both glare at me and I tried to cover with a fake cough. Looking back at Gus, Hunter continued, “But rest assured, Gus, I-”

The sound of Hunter's stuff rustled in the background. I had him bring some books and gave him some snacks to keep him occupied as I was in class. But…it gave off the impression that Hunter was living here. Hunter widened his stance to hide the mess and blushed a bright red. How cute. 

“I’ll ask you one more time,” Gus stated. “What are you doing here, Hunter?”

I rolled my eyes at this dramatic encounter and nudged Hunter in the ribs lightly. Hunter huffed at me and Flapjack came to my rescue and started to yank at his little lock of hair that rested on his forehead. 

“Ow, ow, ow, ow okay fine!” Hunter exclaimed in defeat. “Truth is, my living situation has been compromised. Maybe. And I didn’t want to be left alone at (n/n)’s house. Possibly. So I’m here to wait for them to be finished with…school.”

“How…vague of you,” Gus trailed off. “Do you know where Luz is by any chance?”

“She’s not with Eda?” I asked in concern. 

“Students, please join me in the gym for an important announcement,” Principle Bump spoke over the speaker. 

“I’m not sure what you’re going through,” Gus said suspiciously. “But that much Hex mix can’t be good for your stomach.” Gus summoned his lunch box and handed him an apple. Looking back at the nest Hunter had created, I did notice a ton of Hex Mix that I did not give him. 

Gus ran off, and before I followed him I turned to Hunter, “Where did you even get all that Hex Mix?”

Hunter shrugged, looking to the side sheepishly. With a slight chuckle and shake of my head, I kissed Hunter’s cheek as a parting before following after Gus. 

“Students, teachers, let me introduce you to the esteemed-” The man next to Principle Bump cut him off, “Please, Principle Bump, I deserve no accolades.” Taking his hood down, he revealed to be…someone. “Hello everyone,” He spoke out to us. “My name is Adrian Graye. Head witch of the illusionist coven.” Everyone gasped as we looked around. He continued, “Unfortunately, I’m not here with good news. The Emperor's coven has plans to stop multitrack studies by inducting every Hexside student into a coven before the day of unity.” 

My mind went back to the night Hunter came to my door, how he explained that the day of unity was basically doomsday. I clutched my hands, unease at this situation filling me. Students shouted in shock. 

“Don’t worry,” Principle Bump smiled nervously. “No one's magic is going to be sealed away. Head witch Graye supports us, and has come to help.” “Before any coven scouts come by,” Graye started to explain. “I’m going to make illusions of sigils on your wrists. They’ll be temporary and harmless.”

I watched with dread as Edric, Amity’s older brother, was escorted to stage.

“Woa, woa, woa,” Edric said anxiously. “Wait, wait. I just started the other tracks. Are you sure this is safe?”

“Don’t worry,” Graye said in a calm tone. “Once a scout sees the fake sigil, they’ll move on and you can continue your studies in peace.” Gently taking Edric’s arm, he started to cast a teal blue magic circle, beginning to place his hand down.

“Stop!” Gus shouted from beside me. Everyone parted as we looked at Gus in confusion. “Don’t trust him! He’s hiding behind an illusion!” Then Gus casted a spell that revealed a coven scout instead of Adrian Graye. 

The teachers stood in front of Edric as they prepared to defend us.

“Cut,” An annoyed voice sounded out. Soon scouts popped out of nowhere, surrounding us. “All right. Couple of notes.” The actual head witch of the illusion coven walked around and proceeded to give notes to the scouts…like they were actors. Suddenly, Graye teleported and grabbed Gus’ wrist. “And you…well you just ruined any chance we had of making this something.” “You were gonna trick us into getting sigils!” Gus shouted, trying to free his wrist as Graye got the glove that brands sigils. 

“Uh, yeah,” Graye responded like he was stupid. “I work for Belos. Kind of my job.But let's make sure you can never use your little illusion tricks again. Shall we?” I noticed that he made the sigil the abomination coven.

“No! Stay back!” Gus shouted, as Grayes hand lowered further down. “I said stay back!” Suddenly the room started shifting into different places, and I stepped back in confusion and fear. I looked around, and saw a scout run towards me. Suddenly someone grabbed my arm and started running the other way. Looking up I saw Hunter as we went into another place and I grabbed Gus from Graye. We kept running until Hunter ran into a wall, causing Gus and I to fall behind him. 

“Why are we here?” Hunter asked. Looking around, I noticed we were in an alley in Bonesborough. “Woah Gus!”

Looking to my right I gasped as I noticed Gus’ left eye was glowing neon blue, “Is your eye okay?”

Rubbing his eye Gus spoke in awe, “My spell, it's still active!”

“Well,” Hunter said standing up, helping me stand up as well. “You’re a witch, unspell it.” 

“No!” Gus cried out in frustration. “I don’t know how! I’ve never made one this big before.”

“Well, if we’re still in Hexside, we should find a teacher,” Hunter concluded. “Maybe, they’ll know how to help.”

Hunter started to lead us down the hall, one hand on the wall as I checked my scroll.

“Hey, Amity texted me that everyone is meeting in the healing homeroom,” I spoke up. “Let’s head over there.” They nodded as we continued walking. 

“Hunter, why’d you save me back there?” Gus questioned. “From getting a sigil? Don’t those guys work for you?” I looked towards Hunter in concern, knowing this might hit a sore spot.

“I owed you,” He simply stated. “For the food.” Coming up to some stairs, Hunter contemplated if they were real steps or not…only to fall down.

“Hunter!” I exclaimed, rushing down the steps, but being careful as to not fall. 

“Real steps,” I heard him groan, as I checked over him for any injuries. Even though I’m only in the beast keeping track, Viney taught me some simple healing spells in case I found myself hurt. 

“Dummy,” I scolded lightly, pinching his ear before helping him up. 

“When we first met, you were trying to trick (n/n) and I into joining a coven,” Gus explained, confused. “And now, you’re helping us stay away from one, cause of an apple?”

“It was a good apple,” Hunter grumbled, walking past us. 

“No apple is that good,” Gus countered. “Come on. If we wanna find a way through this, we need to trust each other. What’s going on with you?” 

Hunter stopped walking and glanced at me. I nodded, and he then glanced at Gus, “I…”

“Hey!” Snapping my head forward, I stood defensively with my staff as a scout spotted us. “It’s the kid!” Hunter was on the same page as he quickly started fighting them. They quickly caught him in abomination goo and Gus and I ran to save him, only for the other scout to capture us in vines. 

“Wait,” The scout that caught Hunter questioned. “Aren’t you the Golden Guard?”

“Seriously?” The other one questioned. “Dude. What the heck? We’re on the same side!”

“Our deepest apologies sir,” The scout said, releasing Hunter. “The Emperor sent out a search party for you. He’s been worried sick!” I started to struggle against the vines, summon a beast, something. But my hands were bound tightly. 

“You don’t say,” Hunter replied, his voice cracked slightly. Flapjack started to peck at the vines that restrained Gus and I.

“I’d be honored to escort you back to the castle sir,” The scout responded. “I’m sure the Emperor would be thrilled to know you’re okay. Say…why aren’t you in uniform?”

Gus created a fire glyph and shot it at the scouts, and we made it out of the vines. 

“Follow me!” Gus shouted, leading us. I grabbed Hunter’s hand and followed after him. We turned  a corner, and what looked to be a dead end ended up leading us to a new scene. It was a bedroom that I assumed to be Gus’. 

Hunter let go of my hand and stumbled forward, hyperventilating and sat down, “Oh, Titan! He’s looking for me! He’ll know I’m here! I gotta run, I gotta hide! I-I gotta-”

Gus and I sat on both sides of Hunter, I placed my arm around his shoulders. He looked up at me, then to Gus as Gus started speaking.

“Hey, try to breathe,” Gus said calmly. “Like this.” Gus showed him a similar technique I used with Hunter before, and his breathing slowly evened out. “Did you run away from the Emperor’s coven?” Gus asked, causing Hunter to lean further into my embrace for support. Hunter nodded and Gus asked why. 

Hunter looked towards him, opened his mouth like he was going to talk, before huffing and turning his head into my side. I sighed slightly, rubbing his arm. 

“Not too long ago,” Gus started. “When I showed a little talent and started taking more advanced classes, it always felt like anyone who wanted to be my friend had an ulterior motive. Until I met Willow! And eventually Luz, (y/n), and some others.” Hunter looked back at Gus when he mentioned my name, and Gus stood up and walked towards photos on his wall. “So yeah, not everybody’s great,” Gus stated. “But not everyone’s bad either, you know? For what it's worth,  you can trust me. I promise not to mess with you.”

“That’s not worth anything,” Hunter glared. “Stop acting foolish.”

“Alright tough guy,” Gus gave up. “Let's keep moving then.” 

“You can trust him Hunter,” I whispered as we followed Gus. “I’ve been friends with him for a while now. That is if you think my opinions are worth anything.” 

“Of course they are,” Hunter whispered back. “Y…you’re the first person who’s been so kind to me. A-and you are my partner after all.” 

I flushed slightly and held his hand, “Then consider trusting Gus, you do need more friends than just me after all.”

Hunter looked away and grumbled. I chuckled at his reaction. We walked through a forest for a bit before we stumbled into what looked to be the school.

“Is this real?” I questioned, looking around. Gus touched a bubbler and got gum on his hand. Ew.

“Yes!” Gus exclaimed. “Yeah, we made it through the illusion. High five!” Gus held his hand up and I raised mine. Gus high fived me and then slowly Hunter raised his hand and Gus high fived him too. 

Hunter looked down at his hand and glanced at me as well. Hearing a gasp, I looked at the end of the hall to see Willow. 

“Willow!” Gus exclaimed, running towards her. “You’re okay!” 

“Agustus!” Willow exclaimed back, holding his shoulders, and I already felt like something was off. She always called him Gus… “I’ve been looking everywhere for you.” Hunter and I walked up to them and Willow stepped back defensively, “Whoah. What is he doing here?” And that was the nail in the coffin, this wasn’t Willow. She wouldn’t have been so defensive. 

“Oh,” Gus said, turning towards us. “Don’t worry, it’s cool. He helped me escape from Graye.” Then whispering something we couldn’t hear. 

“Interesting,” ‘Willow’ replied with squinted eyes. “Anyway, let’s find the other students before these illusions get any more…ahhhh.”

“Gus wait!” I shouted, hopping on my staff and flying in front of them. “This isn’t Willow.” Hunter teleported by my side, holding his staff up towards the fake Willow. 

“What are you doing?” Gus asked, stepping in front of Willow. “How is this not Willow?”

“That’s not the captain,” Hunter said with a glare.

“You’re scaring me guys,” ‘Willow’ replied in a high pitched tone. 

“Have you ever seen her play flyer derby?” Hunter asked plainly. “There’s no way she’d be afraid of us.” Gus slowly backed up towards us, staring at ‘Willow’ in realization. 

“Oh!” That oh so annoying voice chimed out. “Again? Cut!” ‘Willow’ transformed into a tall scout as Graye started to vent to the scout about needing to act better. Then he looked at us, “And you three…are making my job very difficult.”

Hunter grabbed my hand and I grabbed Gus’ as Hunter led the chase. But we didn’t get far as the figure of Emperor Belos cut us off. I gasped out in shock, I saw pictures of him, but he was more terrifying up close. Hunter hesitated which led Gus being ripped from my grasp as Graye kicked me, knocking me down. And since Hunter was in front of me, I knocked him down with me, and I felt like I was in a sandwich as Graye stepped on my back, and Hunter was trapped underneath me. 

“I command you to stop!” Hunter shouted at the scouts.

“Technically, he is our superior,” One scout said as they stopped. 

“Well, right now he’s just a run away,” Graye countered. “And our dearest Emperor wants him back, so tie him up.”

“What about the other one?” The other scout asked, pointing at me. 

“I don’t know,” Graye drawled out. “The conformatorium? Just get rid of them.”

One scout grabbed me, holding my arms to my side. The other two each grabbed Hunter, only Hunter managed to fight back. Except the bigger one held him down and said, “Just put him-”

“Out of his misery? Got it.” The other one asked, already starting to cast a spell. I struggled when hearing that, only for them to hold me tighter which hurt. 

“To sleep dude!” The other guard emphasized. “To sleep.”

“Oh, yeah right,” The smaller one nodded. And used music to put him to sleep. His body went limp and Graye left with Gus. I felt helpless and I struggled again. 

“Let me go!” I exclaimed, kicking the scout holding me in the shin. They yanked me harshly as they started walking. “Hunter, wake up!” The scouts laughed and frustration rushed through me. Suddenly vines shot out of the ground and the guards got held up. Then I saw Viney and Skara subdue the scouts. I rushed to Hunter’s limp body as Willow approached. 

“(Y/n)!” She exclaimed, rushing towards me. “Is that really you?”

“Yeah,” I nodded, starting to pick up Hunter. “Luz thought she had snakes for arms when she caught the common cold.”

Willow sent me a small smile, “C’mon, everyone is in the healing homeroom.”

“Amity texted me that,” I nodded, following after Willow. Once we got to the room I noticed that there were more kids here than I expected. And they were all pretty banged up. I set Hunter down on a cot that was available and frowned. 

“(N/n)!” I heard someone shout, turning around, Iris pulled me into a tight hug. “I’m so glad you’re okay!”

Hugging Iris back I replied, “I’m glad you’re okay too! Is Damek okay?” I pulled away and looked around. 

“Yeah,” Iris said, pulling me with her. We stood in front of Damek who was currently being healed. 

“Damek!” I exclaimed, kneeling next to him. “I’m glad you’re not seriously injured.”

“Me too,” He grumbled. “Why’d they choose to make the school a war zone?”

“This-” I heard Hunter say from behind me. I turned around as he looked around in fear. “This is all an illusion! (Y/n)! Gus are you-” Hunter got cut off as he tripped and fell down. I looked back at Iris and Damek and they both stared at me with smug grins and nodded. I smiled back and made my way back towards Hunter. “This isn’t an illusion,” Skara said. “You’re in the healing homeroom.”

“Well, Mr. Golden Guard,” Principle bump said with a frown, making his way towards Hunter. 

Hunter looked down as he stood back up, “Hunter.”

“We saw you being dragged around along with Mx. (l/n), and the flyer derby team was determined to save you both. But I am not yet convinced of your innocence. Where have your scouts taken Augustus?”

The other students looked at Hunter wearily as they mentioned their distrust. Hunter looked around then at me with sad eyes, and tried to defend himself.

“I’m not with them,” He said. “I swear! I was with Gus and (y/n) the whole time. We were trying to get him to you.”

“Maybe we can trade him for Augustus,” The illusionist teacher spoke to the principal. “I’m sure the Emperor would want him back.”

“He’s not lying,” I spoke up, standing next to him defensively. “We were all trying to find you.”

“Y-yeah!” Hunter nodded. “There was an apple, he showed me this breathing thing. Please! You gotta believe me! (Y/n)’s even vouching for me!”

“They’re telling the truth,” Willow said, standing next to us. “And he can help us drive Head Witch Graye and his scouts out of the school.” “Yes!” Hunter agreed. “Um, Graye said he’ll be in the gym. But he will be guarded.” “That won’t be a problem,” Amity spoke, standing up. “Willow can bust through anything.”

“Yeah,” Willow agreed. “But I’ll need help.”

“Say no more,” A kid I didn’t recognize said. “I’m not it.” He really can’t read the room can he. 

“Let’s just come up with a plan,” Principle Bump groaned.

Principal Bump tried to get through with asking, but the scouts didn’t care. So, we attacked. 

Everyone worked together in taking the scouts down. I cast a spell to give me the paws of a Vox. A creature that was notorious for its sharp claws. I slashed at scouts that came near me. Suddenly I was tripped and a scout stood over me, but Hunter teleported behind them and hit them with his staff. He helped me stand up, careful of the claws that adorned my hands. He looked at them in aw until I swiped at a scout that got close to us. 

Pulling away, Hunter nodded at me before continuing to fight. The fighting came to an end pretty quickly honestly. Amity and Willow taking down the captain. Then Hunter, Willow, and Amity all rushed into the gym. I went to follow them, but was stopped by Viney.

“(Y/n)!” She exclaimed, holding my arm gently. “Let me heal you, first.” I didn’t even notice the gash that was on said arm Viney was holding. I stayed still as Viney put a healing circle to my arm.

Then giant steps were heard and I looked around, only to see an abomiton. Before I could warn anyone it already had Viney and I, restrained. It made quick work with the other students as well and made its way into the gym. I felt helpless as I could only hear the fighting in the other room. But I had faith in them. I knew they’d win. 

After a long time, Amity and Willow came out and helped everyone. I ran into the gym and saw Hunter and Gus in a blue forcefield. It dispersed and Gus and Hunter came out. Willow hugged Gus and I ran to hug Hunter. Hunter looked flustered as he hugged me back gently. Willow and Gus joined us as we had a giant group hug. 

The students of Hex Side stood proudly in front of the school as the coven scouts had to drag Graye onto their ship. We cheered as they left and everyone dispersed. Hunter and I walked forward, getting ready to go back to my house. 

“I can’t believe you took down a coven head,” Amity said, impressed to Gus. 

“Yeah,” Gus agreed. “And I almost went down with him.”

“Is Graye going to be alright?” Hunter asked. 

“Uh…” Gus trailed off. “Probably?” They laughed together and I smiled at the scene.

“Hunter!” Skara shouted, gaining our attention. “What’s going on at the castle?”

“Did you actually leave the Emperor’s coven?” Viney asked.

“Have you ever sneezed with your mask on?” Edric asked. Hunter looked back at Gus and I and smiled sheepishly.

Taking in a deep breath he replied, “Everyone in the castle is traveling to the Head for the day of Unity. I think I did. Yes?”

“That’s gross man,” Edric said with a judging stare. 

“Listen,” Hunter started. “Emperor Belos has been lying to everyone. The day of Unity isn’t about the Titan or magic. It’s much scarier than that. Sorry, there’s a lot to explain.”

“Then you’d better get started,” Principle Bump said seriously.

He would never consider himself the type to get obsessed easily, but when he first saw you, it was like something clicked in his brain.

By all means, you weren't wealthy, nor a supermodel, hell you didn't even have a status!! So why would he let someone like you consume his thoughts every waking day?

He was rather silent. He at first refused to talk to you, assuming his little "hyperfixation" would blow over and he'd get over it.

But one day you got brought into the castle. You were classified as an unruly citizen who was disturbing the peace and had to be detained.

It was already hard enough for the scouts to bring someone who lives in water to a castle, but what was even worse was the fact that you kept electrocuting anyone who dared to touch you.

Who knew he would get so flustered just by someone being a brutish fighter?

It was that flustered and awestruck feeling that decided he'd help you escape. Though, in his own special way.

Instead of returning you to the sea, he kept you in a tank in his home. He was never abusive and didn't kidnap you out of any I'll intent but rather did it as he thought it was a better alternative then to tossing you out in the sea where a ton of demons and beasts live. Not to mention the increase in pollution down there.

He thinks he did you some sort of favor, but as long as you don't act out, he won't throw it back in your face.

Even if you two aren't actually together, he'll pretend like you two are dating or at the very least shower you with gifts like he would do with a beloved.

He is a very sweet yandere, but if you electrocute or snap at him, he might restrict a few of the luxuries he extended towards you.

The biggest fear that he has is that some of the coven scouts might find you and take you away. That would most likely mean the end of both his position, and you twos relationship so he is very stern about keeping you hidden.

🜲Adrian Graye🜲

Unlike Darius, he is quick talk to you and he believes you should he honored that someone of such a highclass took time out of their busy day to speak with you.

He is a rather obnoxious person to deal with, so that might've caused you zapping him. If/when you do he is very overexagerant about it.

He acts as if you just shot him in the ribs with such an act.

Though he is quite a brat and claims you as a brute, he ends up coming back. Again, and again. He finds you fascinating in some odd way, and it's rare that he does that. Usually people have to be like the titans gift to man for him to take interest.

He eventually comes to a realization. (Albiet, a stupid one.) That if someone as amazing and talented as him finds you interesting, soon others will follow his steps and you won't become a private little project for him anymore.

So, he decides to bring you home and out you in a tank.

He won't let you hear the end of it about getting stung and burned by both your body and the steaming water he had to collect even though it was HIS idea to kidnap you.

He claims you two are an item now and when he speaks about you to others he'll make sure to remind them that you are with him so no one gets any ideas.

Not like they could act on that anyways with you being kept in his home.

Even if you hate him, when he comes home he rants about his day to you like you two are a married couple.

Speaking of marriage, he isn't totally against the idea. He is admittedly a bit traditional with his fantasies but he'd never really go through with it.

He is extremely jealous and will pitch a child-like tantrum if you even so much as voice a thought that implies you find someone other than him attractive. He likes the idea of you being exclusive to him so he makes sure he protects that by all means necessary.
