Bo-Katan Week 2022 – Scars

I just finished another one-shot for Bo-Katan Week 2022, and you have no idea how much I missed Atin. Writing about her brings me so much joy.

Fenn pulled his crying daughter out of the crib and laid her on his chest, cuddling her close. She wriggled in his arms for a moment, but it only took a moment as she recognized his scent and calmed down.

“Shh, it's okay, baby girl,” he whispered, then kissed the top of her head. The girl moved slightly in his arms and muttered something he didn't understand. “You're too young to talk, huh?”

“She says she's hungry and wants to go to her mommy,” Bo-Katan said quietly, suddenly appearing behind him. Fenn smiled at his wife.

“Am I to understand that you know the language of newborns? You never cease to surprise me, Lady Kryze,” he replied.

She held out her arms toward the baby, and Fenn reluctantly handed her the little girl. He loved feeling that soft weight on his chest, the gentle breath on his bare skin, even if she was drooling. There was something about her that brought him joy and a smile. She was his baby – his and the woman’s who was the love of his life.

“I still have many skills you have no idea about, Fenn Rau,” she said, then returned to the bed with the child. He followed right behind her to lie down next to her.

Atin squeezed his finger gently, looking in his direction as she was fed by her mom.

“She loves you,” Bo whispered.

“She loves you too,” he whispered, kissing her cheek.

Fenn didn't need anything else. He had the family he had always wanted. He had someone to love and that was enough to make him happy.

The grip on his finger eased as the girl fell asleep, but neither Bo nor Fenn wanted to carry her back to her crib. They put her between them.

“Thank you for staying, Fenn,” Bo whispered before falling asleep herself a few minutes later.

He looked at them for a moment.

“Thank you for loving me,” he whispered into the silence.

“Children move a lot, that's a good sign,” Bo-Katan said soothingly as she rubbed her daughter's back.

“I was moving too?” she asked softly.

“Yes. Even a lot,”Bo laughed, and Ursa smiled.

“Did it... did it hurt you?”

“It was unpleasant at times, but it didn't hurt. I was glad you moved Atin.”

It meant you were still alive, Bo thought, but she didn't say it out loud.

When I think of such passages to write, I remember how little you know about Bo's pregnancy and childbirth and the first days of Atin's life. It's all still just in my head, it's growing and I hope there will be a moment when I share it with you.

Have you ever wondered who Fenn's parents were? I honestly admit that so far I have not thought about it, but a few days ago at work someone gave me this idea completely by accident (some conversation about grandparents). Then I realized that... I never thought about it: What were Atin's grandparents like?

Somewhere in the back of my head, I had an idea for Fenn's family. But I never wrote about it, it just was in my head. However, I think it should be somewhere... in the story.

I have no idea how long I will be writing this and what will be there, but I want to share it with you.

I've had more and more things to do in my studies for a while now, and writing has become my escape. That's why this short story was created, to get away from it all a bit. This is only a fraction of BoFenn's life, but I'm giving you a part of what I carry in my head and heart.

"You can do it, Atin," Fenn said softly, looking at his daughter, who had only been crawling so far and now leaned on his knee and stood up on her feet. He was sitting next to her, arms outstretched to be ready to grab her at any moment.

Is there a place in my mind for a BoFenn's kid sensitive to the Force?
