“i was--” he’s scrambling for an answer. his head trying to come up with some form of the TRUTH that could come out naturally. after all, he’d told her the truth when he said he couldn’t lie. she might of thought he was just being humble, but as an angel, he couldn’t do it. and as an angel, he couldn’t very well tell her he was one. upon learning that his wings came out during the rain he needed to get away, so he wouldn’t get CAUGHT. “i--i told you i was trying to find an umbrella, agassi. did i take too long?” he feigns innocence, aware he took his sweet time to come back, and with an umbrella that would serve NO PURPOSE now that the sudden rain was gone.
