Erinys and Edain are my favorite first generation FE4 characters but I didn't finish Erinys's drawing today unfortunately!

my first gut instinct is to say that above all else what she needs is family. i mean, pretty much her entire character is driven by it. of course there are facets of her personality that i think you can separate from this, but from the very get go you see how important her sister is to her.

she literally drops all of her plans to find brigid. she originally trained to become a knight but joins the nunnery to increase her chances of finding her sister, as displayed by her conversation with sigurd in chapter one:

Sigurd: “Edain… Didn’t you leave the knighthood to become a nun? I think it suits you perfectly. I’d do well to learn a thing or two from you myself.”

Edain: “Actually, the sole reason I joined the nunnery is… Well, it’s to aid the chances of finding my sister.”

putting aside that she's very much not your traditional religious fire emblem nun (i love that facet of her character so much but thats not what this is about LOL), it's clear that she's very driven to find her sister, which leads to the importance of family to her. her very reason to live for a long time is to see her sister again no matter the circumstances, and while she doesn't show it surface level i do think she doesn't quite act the same without brigid around. it's my personal headcanon that she decided she needed to be more mature and independent when she lost brigid; which was decided by herself and not really influenced by any outside forces like her father or her brother.

but around brigid? she loses that maturity, for the most part. she becomes somewhat of a child and really enjoys being pampered by her sister, for she didn't get to treasure that experience for a long part of her life.

including andrei in this as well, it really hurts her when brigid tells her she has to die. while i do think that her line with andrei if they battle is funny (alone on a friday night? pathetic.) , i don't think she enjoys or even wants to participates much in his death, given the conversation with brigid in chapter 5:

Edain: “Yes, he killed our dear father, and Annand as well. He must have been possessed by something evil to do such unthinkable things.”

Brigid: “Well, that doesn’t matter ’cause I’m going to kill him! His little killing spree is over. Edain, you’re with me on this, aren’t you?”

Edain: “Brigid…”

Briggid: “I wish there was another way, but the crimes he has committed weigh heavily on us as well. Look, I may go down for what I’m about to do. I just wanted you to understand my reasons.”

Adean: “Yes, Brigid.”

this entire conversation reads off as really sorrowful to me. she has such hope in him and doesn't believe he'd be capable of hurting others. and when brigid suggests killing him? i really think it breaks her heart, though she doesn't have the heart to fight back at all. she can't even bear the thought of losing him like that, even hearing all the evil things.

and, okay. hear me out. i might be looking into this too much i don't think edain is saying Yes, Brigid, to agreeing to kill him. when brigid tells her she's going to kill him? at first all she can do is say her sister's name. it is only when brigid asks if edain understands why that she says yes. she doesn't agree with killing him... but she understands brigid's reasons. even then, it's a bit of a reluctant yes in my mind.

in a perfect world, all edain would need is her family, happy and getting along.
