hi alex! do you have any recs for songs that sound cheerful and upbeat but are about murder/violence/thrill of the hunt type stuff? kinda like the vibe of choke by idkhow?
OOhh I think I got some! It's not usually the type of song I add to my playlists so i probably have more saved than i know
I want you gone - cyan kicks (idk why I feel like this might fit. the jam is upbeat but the lyrics are sad/violent) insane - black gryph0n (listen i know its a hazbin fansong but trust me it slaps so fucking hardddd) Lights out (remix) - taska black/alioth/OSKI (I lost a dear friend and it was no mistake ?? sounds like murder to me. also this is a genuine earworm. The og version of this is more ominous this one is more upbeat) Praying mantis - FKA Rayne ( i fucking love this song <3333333333) Crazy fuckin robot body - snowblood (I mean. this one's niche cause. robot body. but hey if it works it works!) Another way out - Hollywood undead (we're hunting you down for sport sorry) Get jinxed - Djerv (Sorry for the league of legends but this one also slaps so hard and has for years) Killer - The ready set (A CLASSIC A CLASSIC THE MOST CLASSIC EVER) Kill[h]er - Stand atlantic (I think this one fits perhaps) Bruises - Fox stevenson (ANOTHER CLASSIC!!! FISTFIGHT!!) Fingernails - Don Broco (Idk if this fits but it feels like it does its a cool song and also the video is fun as fuck more bands need to do weird shit again) The blade chose me - rainbowdragoneyes (8BIT OMINOUS SONG ABT CONQUERING ITS GOOD!!)
EDIT: I FORGOT TO ADD THE BLADE CHOSE ME
And yeah as always if anyone has suggestions feel free to reblog/reply with them -w-

For the music asks - 5, 6, and 23? :D
5: a song that should be played LOUD
my kink is karma by chappell roan is just one of those songs that you need to blast until your speakers rattle and let it absorb into your skin. the build from the prechorus into the chorus, the bridge into the final chorus... electric. it's a song that i'm so glad to have exist and one of my fav off of the rise and fall of a midwest princess album.
6: a song that makes you wanna dance
the spins by mac miller (rip) is a classic. it's just a fun song. it's got an unshakable groove and is so bouncy that i think it'd be hard to try to stay still while listening. i have it on a playlist specifically for dicking around because nobody should ever have to worry about anything other than having a good time while this song is playing.
23: a song that you think everybody should listen to
supercut by lorde is just an example of a really well constructed song. it's just fantastic. that whole album is truly no-skip, very few flaws, but i think supercut is one of the best songs on it. i can't even explain it. it's just one of those songs that you listen to and you just get it, y'know?
annnnd, because i'm a silly goose and forgot i can give different songs for the same question between asks, i bothered jes for different questions that i now realize i didn't need to ask for... but i'll answer them anyways as an apology :3
11: a song you never get tired of
1985 by bowling for soup is a song i have quite literally had stuck in my head for years. i remember hearing it as a child, and that melody lodged itself into my head permanently around that time. it wasn't until recently that i had the mind to actually look the song up as an adult, and jesus. it's so good. there's something so catchy about it. it's like the perfect earworm. it's a good mix of silly and also relatable-- while i sure as fuck wasn't alive in 1985 to reminisce about it, i'm sure we can all relate to the idea of growing up with a certain image of the world and looking back only to feel old as all hell.
15: a song that is a cover by another artist
i'm not surprised valerie by mark ronson & amy winehouse is a cover, but it fits so well with amy's voice that i don't like to think of it as anything other than her song. valerie is one of those songs that makes you just as enamored with the subject as the artist themselves is, and i think amy herself adds a cheekiness to the song that brings it to a new level.
26: a song that makes you want to fall in love
daylight by taylor swift is a really complicated song for me. for those not up-to-date on the lore of ms swift, this song is written about a man that she was dating for six years and eventually split with. it's such a genuine song of love and comfort that it's insane to think that she's no longer with this person. but that's honestly something that makes me like it more? to be able to experience love this deep and integral to your growth as a person, and still have it end after everything... i don't know. it's become this symbol to me of a song that can fully capture the intensity of devotion even with the bitterness of hindsight. plus the metaphors are gorgeous. love is golden like daylight. "i've been sleeping so long in a twenty year dark night, and now i see daylight, i only see daylight" is just so???? i could go on. i won't. i have so many thoughts.

Rules: Shuffle your favourite playlist and post the first five songs that come up then tag 5 people.
tagged by @illusivesoul, cheers. Tagging @daisywalletchains @princessbutts69 @itsthevoid @dust-bun @stormikins
Other people have been doing their OC playlists and adding lyrics or meaningful reasons why the song is in that list, it's been super interesting to read. I do have some character playlists but they need work, and by far and away the one I listen to the majority of the time is this one, a youtube playlist I stick on when I draw called "vibes to draw to". Here's the first 5 it spat out when I hit shuffle, I'll add a little bit of info about why they are a vibe for me:
Spineshank- New Disease if you went to any goth clubs in the 00's you absolutely headbanged to this one until you puked. My then partner now spouse was a bar person in such a club so I heard this one a lot (and puked sometimes😅).
Katscan - You Love it You Shlaaggs lawd this fucking song. I got it on a mix tape CD from cyberdog (rave/cybergoth shop here in London) as a teen and listened to it obsessively for a couple years, lost the cd, forgot the bands name or how they spelled slags and so didn't hear it for yeeeears. Then one day it earwormed me hard and I went on an epic quest to find the fucker, a good decade later. And here is the bitch! I finally tracked it down because I remembered it had some quotes from the movie monster party spliced into it.
The Cranerries- Zombie * insert crying thumbs up emoji * One of the first songs I learnt on bass. Makes me teary every time I hear it.
En Vogue - Don't let go (Love) An absolute banger. The sort of song I would have hairbrush performed to in my bedroom as a wee'un. NOFX- Bob I don't know why exactly but to me NOFX are a sumer band, they make me feel like grabbing some cans of cider and heading to the park, dusty skate jeans flapping in the grass. Lol today's drawing vibe is 'all over the fucking place' I guess 😂
I'll embed the vids under the cut, should you like to listen to any of these :)

i kinda want to know your thoughts on hwasa's newest song. on the one hand its kinda giving megan trainor... and i do think it could have been longer and they could've gone harder on the sound.
on the other idk its very catchy and i find it very fun. hwasa is such a great singer so i think even if the song is nothing special her voice alone really adds to it. my friend said she really disliked the chorus and i can see why, but i found it fun. all around i think it isnt perfect but its a bit of an earworm.
also somewhat related but she looks so pretty in the music video... man... i've always found her extremely attractive but idk what it is this time, she's just very cute and has so much charisma. i got the song for an ad and i couldnt skip it because i couldn't stop looking at her ksnfnsndj though at that point i think that's just me being obsessed.
U'RE SO RIGHT ABT THE MEGAN TRAINOR VIBES ACTUALLY 😭😭. Also abt this being an earworm. I wouldn't necessarily listen to it on a playlist but if it came up randomly I wouldn't skip it. It has a cute instrumental even tho it's simple. I also just watched the mv and I feel like it kinda had a barbie vibe in terms of the set - bright colors that contrast against each other well, and a sort of plastic-y look. I thought it fit p well. Also her outfits were all v distinct from each other

1. Artists and Albums I remember when I first started using spotify even just vaguely on my phone, I spent ages going through and making sure to follow all the artists that I'd previously been buying music for (... still do. But it was a good starting point) • Followed artists • Put likes on albums (adding them to my spotify library)
2. Playlists and Playlist Folders
For a while there spotify was really janky and didn't like to load or play anything - unless it was in that preview that you see for like the daily mixes or playlists. So I made playlist folders and stuffed them with playlists of albums I wanted to listen to at the time. Because of reasons Unknown, while spotify wouldn't load the playlist itself on startup, it would play (most of) the playlists if I hit play from the playlist folder view.
(Apparently not everyone knows about playlist folders but they are a godsend for me and part of why I had to bail on Deezer)
3. Likes and the Album Challenge
I was already kind of doing this before with random playlists I'd check out; if something catches my ear or makes me go investigate who it is/what the song name is, I try to put a like on it.
Last year, inspired by a friend, I started making my way through a whole bunch of albums I'd intended to listen to but never got around to it. I went in with a premise : if the album had 50% or more songs that caught my attention and got a like, then I'd add it to a playlist for that month's challenge. (I'd add the songs with a single like to the list anyway) Then I could listen to the playlist over and over and see if I wanted to buy the physical album.
4. The Emergency Earworms Playlist
A shortlist of songs from the challenge that have gotten stuck in my head when I've been not listening to anything.
I've recently had friends tell me they use spotify/apple music/whatever by just liking songs and hitting shuffle, which is an alien concept to my has-well-over-100-playlists-and-chooses-which-to-play-based-on-mood sensibilities. so now I must know...

A Little Anxiety Goes a Long Way
It took me more than 60 years to figure out that I struggle with anxiety. I have adult ADHD, so anxiety goes hand in hand with that, but today I realized that the free-floating anxiety has taken hold of my brain and refuses to let go.
I've tried to occupy myself with other things, listen to books, watch tv, clean the kitchen (ugh), but nothing takes it away. Meditation would help, but I don't have patience to continue, because my brain simply won't shut down enough to allow it to help.
So I'm checking out sending out my intention to the universe and following that with envisioning the positive result. I will also make a charm to help me stay with the process. The problem with ADHD is that we tend to have trouble with focus. That lends itself to all of those thoughts flying helter skelter though my brain. Because I can't shut my brain off, meditation becomes nearly impossible.
Add to that, I start each day with an ear worm, some song that runs constantly through my brain so loudly that I can actually hear the musical riffs between the verses. What's worse is that none of these songs are currently on any playlist. I read somewhere that if you let the song play though in your brain, it will stop. I don't know who thought that one up or how they came to this idea, but they suck. Even turning on audible or a podcast doesn't help, I just hear the earworm in the background. It's really hard to get the gyst of the Dateline mystery with Barry Manilow singing "I Can't Smile Without You" in the background.
I usually give into it by cleaning or doing something that requires physical effort. I can fill the time with meaningless activities and the earworm doesn't bother me. I can actually sing along with it. But lately, I've been announcing the song to my daughter in hopes that I make myself stronger than it. I'm so taken with the range of the songs I am hearing. It's kind of hard to make them stop when I find that I can identify the singers from as far back as the 40s. I guess having a musician for a father influenced me.

If you're still doing the ask game xmxhdjdh For Drosy: 💐✏️🎵
Ask game questions are [here]
Sorry for answering this so so late! Spent a little time really thinking on this. I'm not a very musically inclined person, that is to say: my taste and knowledge of music is limited to Panic! At The Disco, Fall Out Boys, and a couple of songs from various artists I don't really know (+ whatever earworm my siblings have contracted.)
💐 BOUQUET - create a bouqet for them! what do those flowers mean? are any of the flowers their particular favourite?
Composing a flower bouquet for him with would be very fun! Drosy pretty knowledgeable on flowers and their meanings, so I'm sure he'd have lots of opinions on any bouquet meant for him. Personally, I think Begonias, Gardenias, and Zinnia flowers would be the majority of the bouquet.
None of these are his favorite (it's hard to pick one when there's so many to choose from! They're all so beautiful~) but they encapsulates his ideal self to a tea!
✏️ PENCIL - is there a particular quote / lyric that you associate with them?
"A solider should know the difference between words and deeds and keep that knowledge clear in his brain." - Beowulf, Burton Raffel Translation
Here you go, a classic quote! I'm rereading Beowulf and this stood out for me for Drosy. Drosy may not be a solider/warrior but he does put a effort on actions vs words. While he is a rather extroverted and honest person, he does find himself in situations where he says stuff just to keep peace rather than genuine belief in his words. But when it comes to deeds, there are no compromises there.
His deeds and his words are two different things (though they often overlap).
🎵 MUSIC NOTE - what is their playlist like? their favourite artists? do you associate a particular song with them?
I'll say, I haven't really thought of what sort of music he'd enjoy... But he does enjoy wordless music. Classical/Classical-styled music is a huge source of his playlist! But he doesn't stick to just classical, if there's a song that he really likes from any genre, then he take out the lyrics (or look for karaoke versions) and add that in too.

Music Monday: Hitlist Of the Week!
Here is the list of top Songs of the week. WhatsOn music editor Adam Humphries, has come up with new hit list for the week. Add these songs to your playlist and get grooving! Class new indie banger from Manchester's Chew Magna - 'Spat Out' Not quite sure what it is about Mancunian-based artists but they always seem to hit the right notes. When it comes to music and artistic expression. In their new single, spat out, they openly talk about frustration both within themselves and of others. This a reference to the feeling you get when you feel that someone has got what they want. Yet it has left you high and dry. Hence the saying hung up and spat out to dry. Full credit to Chew Magna for this belter of a track https://open.spotify.com/album/6TbIzRV9nNOQunaOgYRhPc?si=QTUUghDYT6KZq0GTGSRDyw&utm_source=copy-link When you listen to the lyrics you can sense the frustration of the song. This is where their songwriting really does come to fruition and they show that there is more than just your average band. I don't know what it is about Manchester-based artists that makes them amazing. But whatever it is is Chew Magna another product of Mancunian greatness. https://youtu.be/ueVQ1WkAol4 GEORGE BARNETT releases dark euphoric banger - 'Black Tank Top'! There aren't that many demos and singles in the charts today that can tap into the darker, moodier aspects of the human mental psyche. Yet George Barnett seems to have done just that. In his latest single, black tank top, he expresses the effects of a breakup in a relationship in the human psyche. In his voice, you feel frustration, anxiety, and anger. For an artist who hasn't been in the music scene for a great amount of time, it sounds as though he has. https://open.spotify.com/track/6OTzR46oNM6tZbO0VBBRWr?si=D0CY-ONXThSdQ9QTpSIM0A&utm_source=copy-link George recorded the song during the national lockdown which is when everyone was feeling the darker side of human mentality. As far as songs about the media aspects of human emotions and mental psyche go George has pretty much nailed it. Even the guitar riffs act as a musical metaphor for frustration. https://youtu.be/Duzw7FGPh2U The genius of the songwriting, as well as seen electro riffs of the guitar. Is that George is exploring the dark side of the mind and both during and after post-break-up? but without getting completely submerged George is a musical maestro in the making. Indie-electro artist Little Tealeif releases brooding earworm - 'Pedestal People' No, you may not have heard of him, but you will soon. British-born singer-songwriter and electro-indie artist, Little Tealeif, leaves no stone unturned in his new single, pedestal people. Like many other artists whose inspiration is what they've lived, Tealeif definitely does just that. A recovering addict to leave wears his heart on his sleeve and uses his music to bear his soul he talks about the struggles of addiction. And having to move away in a bid to find himself and rebuild. https://open.spotify.com/album/4krt3trJaxEJKyfC33IOln?si=tA9oyjk-T2Km4xp6dcFETQ&utm_source=copy-link No, what makes this so interesting is that normally indie electronic sounds are normally upbeat, but when you listen to the lyrics they are almost a contradiction of the upbeat tunes of the song. It's only when you really listen to the beats and the lyrics you realize how genius it really is. https://youtu.be/YWmqn_M8008 A positive electro rock riffs and beats and the dark tones of the lyrics are a perfect contradiction to each other, they both balance the other out. JESSICA WILDE is thinking of - 'Kissing My Best Friend' on a new deep pop single! If there's one thing they can certainly count on with London singer-songwriter, Jessica Wilde is sheer honesty and that she never holds back. In her new single, Kissing My Best Friend, she talks about deep intimate feelings for a friend, struggling with these inner feelings along with the fear of rejection. Something else that Wilde is absolutely clear on is the fear of ruining a relationship that currently stands. Straight from the go the tones and atmosphere of the song are dark, troubled, and deeply intimate. https://open.spotify.com/track/2CGrc8YpArtb1PsHZG5Zhn?si=cSM9O5xRTHuR9ruPu-pMBA&utm_source=copy-link When you listen to the lyrics it's like something directly from a diary, where only the deepest, darkest, and most intimate thoughts are spoken. The lyrics just talked about feelings for a friend but with a fear of acting on them out of rejection and pain https://youtu.be/4zXfgxxH6WM As with any talented, us songwriter wild doesn't hold back and bares her inner soul Read the full article

Thanks for the tag @labelleizzy! Sorry it took a while for me to get to it.
Post a selfie:
I really don't post selfies (even my Insta has very, very few selfies), but here's a link to one of me with Ngozi.
Music I'm listening to (or current earworm):
This playlist I made:
Last movie/show I watched:
I just watched The Lost City. It was goofy and cute.
Current/go-to ~fancy~ drink:
Cocktail? I've been making some jam cocktails lately: gin, half a lemon juice, two tablespoons of jam of my choice (I've been using raspberry), shaken and strained, poured over ice. A non-alcholic version of this would just sub sparkling water of your choice.
Favorite color:
I'm partial to lavender but don't wear it. I also love yellow and do wear it—mostly in shoes though.
Currently reading:
I just reread @doggernaut's Once in a Lifetime series, which is one of my favorites. Bookwise, I'm still plugging along with The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Again, I'm having a hard time feeling sympathy for Snow. :P. Edited to add: Oooo, Libby just informed me a copy of Big Swiss is finally available, so I'm starting to read that tonight.
What's to my left:
Dude, literally a wall. (Yellow paint. See? I love yellow).
Anything exciting?
Starting work on a paper I want to submit to a journal and updating a paper I wrote five years ago (which I was going to present at a conference in Philadelphia, but then the lockdown happened and no one went anywhere.)
I got a promotion (and raise) at work—I just have to discuss what I want my title to be. Which, ugh?
I'm "training" for another stupid 5k.
Thanks for the tag! Inviting the following people to play along if they feel like it and answer any or all of the above: @doggernaut @devereauxsdisease and YOU!
Tagged by @endreal in a fun reblog game so here we go!
* Post a selfie
* Music you're listening to and/or current earworm
youtube
* Last movie/show you watched
I started rewatching LEVERAGE. I'm starting halfway so that when I get to Redemption it'll be more exciting. It's full love of the show plus procrastination; once I move my PC over to the new place it'll be very boring and TV-free here for awhile lol
* Current go-to ~ fancy drink ~
Peach Passion Five Alive with Sprite. 😃
(Also sometimes add peach schnapps.)
* Fave colour
Green, because I love green, but same as @endreal, the colours of a dragonfly's wings have always been my favorite combo 💜💚💙
* Currently reading
The Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo, A House with Good Bones by T. Kingfisher, Eva by Peter Dickinson, and Watership Down by Richard Adams (bc I've never read it so I don't know why a friend's boss was upset a woman bought it for her 5 year old. )
* What's to your left?
THIS GUY!
* Anything exciting?
I'm going to my new place today to sand the wall patches, and paint! My bedroom will be Natural Light by the afternoon! Then I can start moving things over in earnest, because I can decorate as I go. Eeeeee
* I tag @labelleizzy, @beescream, @goosenoises , @clairebearhug, @tittyfuckingamermaid , @maeamian , and @zeatee, but no obligation, only if you want to do this too 💜

I had a mental musical project I have kept up through the year. Every time a song popped into my head, I would add it to a Spotify Playlist called "Songs I've Thought About."
There are your regular earworms in there. Some songs I don't particularly care for. Songs I love. Random Christmas song or two added in the summer time for some reason? And at least one theme song from show my daughter watched as a baby.
If you would like a peek into my brain, here you go
