Perez leads Red Bull one-two in dramatic Azerbaijan GP to cut Verstappens championship lead
Sergio Perez doubled up on the streets of Baku by adding to his Sprint race triumph with victory in Sundayâs drama-filled Azerbaijan Grand Prix, leading Red Bull team mate Max Verstappen and Ferrariâs Charles Leclerc home to boost his title push. Verstappen and Perez overhauled pole-sitter Leclerc in the early stages and proceeded to trade fastest lap times at the head of the field, with the defining moment of the race coming when a Safety Car was deployed either side of the Red Bull drivers pitting. With Verstappen pitting under yellow flags brought out when Nyck de Vries stopped on track, and Perez coming in under a Safety Car that followed, the Mexican cleared his team mate and rejoined the action in the lead. Verstappen fell to third, meaning he had to overtake Leclerc for a second time. While that was a formality when the race resumed, he could not make inroads on Perez during the run to the chequered flag and had to settle for second. 1 Sergio Perez PER Red Bull Racing 1:32:42.436 0 2 Max Verstappen VER Red Bull Racing +2.137s 0 3 Charles Leclerc LEC Ferrari +21.217s 0 4 Fernando Alonso ALO Aston Martin +22.024s 0 5 Carlos Sainz SAI Ferrari +45.491s 0 Leclerc held off a late charge from Fernando Alonso to take third, meaning the two-time championâs 2023 podium run came to an end â though fourth still represented another strong haul of points for the Aston Martin driver. Carlos Sainz crossed the line fifth in the other Ferrari, fending off Lewis Hamiltonâs Mercedes in the closing stages, with the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll and Silver Arrow of George Russell picking up minor points after a close call in the pits early on. Esteban Ocon and Nico Hulkenberg rose from the pit lane to hold points-paying positions for much of the race, as they extended their first stints on hard tyres, but late mandatory pit stops meant they were banking on more Safety Car drama that never arrived. Lando Norris moved into the points with a late move on Hulkenberg, before gaining another spot when Ocon pitted, while Yuki Tsunoda rounded out the top 10 to salvage a result for AlphaTauri on an otherwise difficult day for the team. Leclerc held his lead at the start but was soon overhauled by the Red Bulls Oscar Piastri, Alex Albon, Kevin Magnussen and Pierre Gasly all narrowly missed out on points as they completed a close midfield pack, ahead of final finishers Ocon, Logan Sargeant, Hulkenberg and Valtteri Bottas â the latter making three trips to the pit lane amid tyre woes. Bottasâ Alfa Romeo team mate, Zhou Guanyu, pulled into the pits late on with an unspecified technical issue, with De Vries the other retirement after he hit the wall at Turn 5 in the early stages and picked up terminal damage. With back-to-back Baku wins, which add to his 2021 Grand Prix victory at the venue, Perez cuts Verstappenâs championship lead to single figures heading to the next round of the season in Miami, which follows next weekend. Perez, who took home the Driver of the Day award, could have made up further ground in the driversâ standings had it not been for a late stop from Russell, who bolted on a set of softs to take the fastest lap bonus point. More to follow. via Formula 1 News https://www.formula1.com

âL/N, are you going to come with us?â
Looking away from the window you were viewing out from, you paused sipping from your carton of orange juice before turning your head to quickly discover two female students looking at you with anticipation in their eyes only for you to look at them in some sort of confusion.Â
âCome one, donât tell me you didnât hear about it? Coach Takagi and Itadori are competing!â one of the girls complained, obviously slightly annoyed at your oblivious nature to the news that was going around the school at this moment in time.
âCompeting for?â you then questioned, as you stood straight from your leaning position causing the other female student to then rapidly answer by saying, âCoach is trying to requite Itadori for the nationals, so if he wins then itadori has to join the track club to compete!âÂ
âHuh? What a dragâ
âSo do you wanna come to the track field with us to see who is going to win?â the two students asked again in a desperate tone, leading you to look at the window you were previously looking from to see the exact location that they had stated. âIâll watch from here, it has a higher and wider view, so I would have a better lookâ you replied, before pointing at the track field that was on the other side of the glass causing the students to look out before nodding.
âWe really want to see it up close, so weâll see you tomorrow yeah?â the first female student asked, leading you to smile and nod at them before seeing them rapidly take off to the track field trying to make sure they arrived before the competition started.
Turning your smile back into a straight line, you turn back to the window that you were looking through before being interrupted while placing your drinkâs straw between your lips letting the sweet but citrusy juice flow down your throat. Admiring the view, you decided to let your eyes roam free for a bit to see if there was anything interesting to observe before the supposed âcompetitionâ started, which then led you to pause at the sight of the closed rugby field down below.
Coming out of the ground was a horrific creature with four arms before climbing up the pole revealing its large teeth leading you to stare at it with complete boredom as you then mentally took a quick note to exorcise it later when the school closed. However, what also came into your sights was a single male student down before staring at the same curse you were observing causing you to continue analysing the situation.
âCan he see it? I donât recall a student here having any curse energyâ
From what you could tell, the student had black erratic hair with his hands in his pocket but from what you could see that otherâs couldnât, there was a faint but noticeable aura of curse energy surrounding his body generating a feeling of curiosity but nervousness within your stomach as you place your empty carton away from your lips. Suddenly, the male turned around leading you to have somewhat a clearer view of him, only to discover that he also had a pair of emerald eyes which then made you come to the conclusion that he wasnât a student from the school. How could he? You could tell this âstudentâ, and yourself was the same age meaning you would have at least seen him once or twice down the hallways and there was no new information about a student coming in, if there was, it would have been a buzz.
âDonât tell me one of the clans managed to find out about me?â you anxious thought, leading you to take a short step back ensuring this sorcerer didnât have a vivid view of you when you did of him. Hearing some cheering, you turned your head to the other side to find a small crowd forming with a metal ball being flung as two students ran out to measure the length between the dip of the sand from the coach indicating to you that the competition had started.
â14 metres!â the one student shouted, leading to a round of applause from the audience spectating the event. However, from what your ears were managing to pick up, there were cheers for Itadori leading you to wonder if you could recall the classmate they were shouting for.
âAh~ Itadori Yuji ha?â you rhetorically asked the air around you, not expecting an answer in return. Itadori Yuji was a first-year student like you were, member of the small occult research club with second years Sasaki and Iguchi when he could be in any athletic club if he wanted to. However, understandably you knew some people would rather do something than what their natural talents indicated. Once again, you saw the metal ball being thrown - this time from the pink-haired students - only for it to land that the corner of the football goal, yet what was the shocking thing was that the metal of the goal was bent leading you to look at the sight within widened eye - of course, you knew Itadori was fast and strong but not to the extent of what you had just witnessed.
âWow, no wonder he was called âTiger of the West Middleâ,â you muttered under your breath before quickly reverting your eyes to find the sorcerer you were wary of. Surprisingly, he was now on the track field looking upon the competition mixing well with the other students like a little chameleon. Although, before you could continue to observe the student trying to see what his intentions were, Itadori suddenly ran past him with his large backpack on, only for the erratic-haired sorcererâs eye to suddenly widen the second they crossed each other leading him to reach out for your classmate. However, there was only dust to be collected as Itadori was suddenly out of reach.
âJust what are you trying to gain, sorcerer? Itâs already a drag that youâre here,â you quietly mumbled irritation before turning away from the window you were gazing from to collect your school bag from your classroom since you left it there to not have the burden of carrying it on your shoulder. However, what you didnât notice was the same sorcerer peering up at the same window you were looking from with perplexity painted on his face.
âWas someone watching me?â
                       ê„
âDonât tell me someone got a hold of that damn finger?â you angrily stated, as you suddenly felt an immense amount of pressure invade the school causing you to wonder if there was anyone within the school with you right now, as you began to increasingly worry about whoever got a hold of the special-grade object that you found a few nights before.
âI put a protective seal on it, who the hell broke it!?â you muttered, as you panicky ran up the stairs trying to follow the presence of the object you were desperately trying to get a hold of before forcibly pushing a door open leading it to smash against the wall as you continued to sprint across the halls.
As you quickly turned the corner, you saw a large curse blocking the path leading you to instinctively flow your curse energy flow to your hand to the tips of your finger as you began to confidently recite the spell you were about to cast after you had finished drawing the symbol with your curse energy in the air.
âDisintegrate, you black dog of Rondanini! Look upon yourself with the horror and then claw out your own throat! Binding Curse Spell number nine: Geki!â you chanted, leading to a thin light aqua aura of curse energy to surround the curse causing it to become completely paralysed. However, before you could cast another spell to destroy the curse, there was a sudden interruption causing you to look at the person in complete shock as they flew into the corridor from outside the window only for you to discover it was your own classmate.
âItadori!â you screamed, only for him to grab what seemed like two people away from the curse as it was still immobilised from your spell leading you to turn to the side to find that it was both Sasaki and Iguchi in his arms causing your eye to further widen only for you to be then distracted by the curse being blown away to your direction leading you to use another spell to make sure you were caught in the process.
âBinding Curse Spell number eighty-one: Danku,â you hurriedly stated, leading to a large rectangular defensive wall to shield you away from the decapitated parts of the curse as well as the technique being used for it to explode the way it did. Unexpectedly, once the pathway was cleared you suddenly came eye to eye with the sorcerer you were peering down on the track field this afternoon causing a wave of uneasiness to consume your body.Â
âWho are you?â he questioned leading to the two dogs beside him to growl at you showing their sharp canine that could easily pierce your skin if he commanded them to. Slowly, your hand moved to the hilt of your katana that was hanging horizontally on your back, before quickly coming to the conclusion that it wasnât difficult to slice the two dogs down if you desired to.
âShikigamis huh? I should just cut the user down before they could reach me, then they would disappearâ
âOh L/N? What are you doing here?â Itadori asked in shock, leading you and the sorcerer to look at him before the sorcerer suspiciously asked, âyou know who she is?â.
âSheâs a student at my school, she is in the higher class since sheâs smarter than me,â Itadori explained, as he took the time to check on his two club members with a sincere look on his face to then discover that they were unconscious with Sasaki in a decent state with Iguchi in somewhat the same condition but with injuries to his face. Letting your shield gradually disappear, you slowly walked up to your senior as you crouched down to hover a hand over his face letting a flow of curse energy begin to heal his wounds.
âItadori, how the hell did they get the finger?â you angrily questioned the boy while continuing to heal your upperclassman causing him to look at you in shock - due to your acknowledgement of the object - as he caught the cursed object that slipped out of Sasakiâs pocket once he picked her up in a bridal style.Â
âHow do you know about it?â the sorcerer then asked, only to be quickly silenced when you gave him a heated glare only for itadori to then explain that he was the one that picked it up for them since they wanted to sneak back into the school to unwrap the talisman for research for the occult club leading an irk to appear on your forehead. âWasnât there like a talisman paper placed on the door? You know like those like sheet of paper with Ancient Japanese writing painted on it?â you asked in a stern tone as you completed the healing process only for itadori to give you a questionable look.
âThere was a hint of paper being there, but it seemed like it was ripped off,â itadori answered wearily, leading you to look up at him with enlarged eyes as you let out a breath of complete shock.
âWHAT DO YOU MEAN RIPPED OFF?â you screamed as you rushed to your feet before grabbing the collar of his classic yellow jumper. From what you could recall, there was no possible way for the seal to be completely ripped off by the hands of a normal person, not even a simple sorcerer could even go through the barrier you had placed on it leading you to turn to the sorcerer, who was looking at the argument that was occurring right in front of his face.
âWas it you? No, from what I can see, you ainât even a high enough grade to even go through it...Ah shit,â you cursed as you let go of Itadoriâs collar before beginning to try to think of all the possibilities that could have happened that led to this accident.
âSo, is this it Fushiguro?â Itadori asked the sorcerer, completely ignoring you as you were in a state of shock and confusion on what was going on. âYeah, thatâs the special-grade curse object, Ryomen Sukunaâs finger,â the sorcerer confirmed with Itadori as he then quickly mentioned, âitâs a miracle that it didnât get swallowed, thanks to L/N curse technique back there.â
âFushiguro huh? Not Zenin, thatâs a reliefâ
âWhy would anything eat it? Does it taste good?â Itadori asked in curiosity, leading you and Fushguro to look at the boy with a questionable look on both your faces.
âDonât be stupid,â you and Fushiguro simultaneously stated causing both of you to look at each other in shock before you then explained, âyouâd do it to gain stronger curse energy. Itâs dangerous, so hand it over to Fushiguro, itâs best to have him keep hold of it since the seal I placed was broken.â
âSure, sure,â Itadori casually said, as he outstretched his hand to pass the finger to Fushiguro. However, before the sorcerer could take the object away from Itadoriâs gasp, a large hand began to reach down below the two people causing you to look up in fear before instinctively pushing the two boys away from the area it was trying to target.
âRUN!â you screamed, before the ceiling crashed down between both of you, leaving you completely alone and vulnerable as the dust invaded your sights. In a panic, you swiftly grabbed the hilt of your katana to release the blade from its casing revealing an all-black weapon your hands, but once the smoked clear you found Fushiguro trapped in the hands of the curse before being forcibly through to the concrete wall causing a few hints of blood escaping from his mouth, to which lead to the two dogs that were protecting Itadori as well as the two second-year to disappear.
âShadows? Donât tell meâŠâ
However, before you could even complete your sudden thought, there was a sudden flash of lights blinding you before the whole side of the school to be destroyed along with Fushiguro, who was thrown across. In a state of terror, you rushed outside before using your speed to jump up the height needed before stabbing back of the curseâs head with your katana before quickly retreating back, leaving it there as the curse screeched in pain while preparing another curse spell to use to finish off the monstrosity.
âDestructive Curse Spell number seventy-three: Soren Soka-â you screamed, but you were interrupted once you suddenly found Itadori aggressively punch the curseâs head leading Fushiguro, who was laying down on the ground with blood pouring down his face to angrily shout, âItadori! Why canât you understand to take those two and run?!â.
âYouâre in big trouble yourself!â Itadori screamed back, before being swung around as he then suddenly was being dragged along the metal railings of the balcony before his body was then swung into the air.
âOnly curses can exorcise other curses! You canât beat it!â Fushiguro argued back, only for this attempt to fall on deathâs ears as itadori continued to fight against the curse as he masterfully dodged its attacks before playing his own as he kicked its ruby eye.
âBesides, I have my own troublesome curse already!â Itadori declared, causing you to look at your classmate in complete annoyance since you didnât have a single clue on what he was rabbling about. As of right now, all you were wondering was where the cursed finger was since the last time you had seen it was in Itdoriâs possession.Â
Suddenly, before you realised it, the mentioned cursed object had slipped out of Itadoriâs grasp causing you to quickly stand up on your feet to jump across the cure to reach it. On the other hand, it seemed like the curse was blocking your way by how it used both its arms to capture Itadori leading to the student to jump as high as he could to catch the finger by the grip of his teeth.
âYou idiot!â you screamed, as you tried to concentrate your curse energy to flow to your palms as your katana was still within the curseâs head. âHand it over to me or you'll be eaten, too!â Fushiguro yelled in a panic as he finally got up on his feet to chase after the wanted object.
Slowly, you raised your right hand before using your index finger to use it as a guide to where to aim your next spell at the finger without damaging your schoolmate in the process. âDestructive Curse Spell number one: Sho,â you quickly chanted leading to a small amount of curse energy in a concentrated manner to shoot from the tip of your index finger, yet before it even had the chance to hit the finger away from Itadoriâs teeth, he threw thing finger up in the air using the force of his head leading your curse spell to be a futile attempt.
âThere is a way to save everyone! I just need some cursed energy right. Fushiguro, L/N?!â Itadori cried out, leading you to again attempt to shoot the cursed finger away from where you assumed Itadori wanted it to go, while Fushiguro looked upon the situation in complete fear of what was going to happen.
âDonât..Donât do it!â Fushiguro shouted in a hostile tone, only for Itadori to swallow the special-grade cursed object causing you and the other sorcerer to look at the scene in complete disbelief.
âHeâs going to die, thatâs a deadly poison..but...thereâs a one in a million chanceâ
Suddenly, the arms of the curse disintegrated into small particles of flesh before Itadori landed on his feet, only for the curse to attempt to attack the salmon-hair boy again, leading to being completely destroyed with a single wing of an arm to which caused your katana, which was stuck within the flesh of the curse, to fly into the air before landing with a loud âclunkâ.Â
Yet, that wasnât your main concern.
Your feet were glued to the ground as you looked upon the sight right in front of you. Fushiguro was staring at the same scene with dread flooding his green eyes as Itadori was now covered with the black markings of what you both come to know from basic jujutsu knowledge.
âY/N dear, Iâm so sorry for putting you through this, if Sukuna ever comes into this era, it is your duty as a sorcerer and the only offspring of the L/N clan to exorcise him, promise me that please?â
âWhy.....why did you have to die mother?â
âAh, I knew it! The light feels best in the flesh,â âItadoriâ declared, as he then processed to rip his yellow hoodie in excitement before brisking his flesh to the moonlight that was shining right above him. âA cursed spiritâs flesh is so boring. Where are the people? The women?!â âItadoriâ questioned before jumping onto the railings as he continued his speech, âwhat a wonderful era to be in, women and children are crawling everywhere like maggots. Marvellous! Itâll be a massacre!â
Without the acknowledgement of who you deemed to be Sukuna and Fushiguro, you slowly raised your right hand with an open palm as you began to whisper another curse spell to make the exorcism a little easier for you, âBinding Curse Spell number sixty-three: Sajo Sabaku''. As you closed your palm, there was a sudden manifestation of a yellow electrified chain being created as it loosely surrounded the King of Curse before tightly securing its place around his body.
âAh-â Sukuna said in surprise before taking a step back from the balcony to observe the yellow chains that encaptured him. âL/N!â Fushiguro shouted as he looked at you with widened eyes surprised at how you figured out how to retain him so fast.
âAt this rate, he should be somewhat easier to exorcise, Itadori has only one finger within his system, itâs going to be okay right?â
However, before you could even comprehend what to do next as your tactic you suddenly heard a change in tone of voice. âWhat do you think youâre doing with my body?â Sukuna asked, only for you to realise that it was Itadori who was speaking at this moment in time, âgive it backâ.
âHow are you able to move?â Sukuna questioned his vessel back, as he was in pure confusion on how the human still maintained some control of his body. âI mean, itâs my body,â itadori answered back, only causing you more confusion on what was going on since Sukunaâs markings were still visible to his body.
âDonât move! Youâre no longer human,â Fushiguro stated in a serious tone, as he crouched down before moving his hand in front of him as he processed to make fists.Â
âUnder Jujutsu regulations, Itadori Yuuji, I will exorcise you as a curse!â Fushiguro announced, causing you to look at him with surprise painted upon your face. However, since you were beginning to lose a certain amount of curse energy, your chains slowly began to disappear leading Itadoriâs hands to now more freely while Fushiguroâs worries about you begin to increase.
âWait, really. Iâm just fine!â Itadori stated in innocence, as he raised his now-free hands as if he was surrendering to the sorcerer while his markings began to fade gradually. âMore importantly, you and I are both pretty beat up, letâs go to a hospital,â Itadori declared as he was worried for the male right in front of him. On the other hand, you suddenly realise that there were shadows slowly swirling around Fushiguro leading to your assumption earlier to be true.
âFushguro is a Zenin...I..haveâŠ.toâ
âWhatâs the situation?âÂ
All of a sudden, a new voice came into the area leading you to turn your head to the side to find a rather tall male standing next to Fushiguro. From a quick glance, you could immediately inform yourself that had spiky white hair with a black blindfold covering his eyes, as he carried a paper bag on his arm while wearing a similar outfit to Fushiguro meaning he was another sorcerer.
âGojo-sensei?! Why are you here?â Fushiguro asked in surprise, as he turned to look at what you assumed to be his teacher leading to the shadows around him to immediately disappear from sight.
âGojoâŠâ you muttered under your breath as you looked at the two male sorcerers right in front of you in horror as you came to the realisation on the situation you were facing.
âMotherâŠ..Iâve been foundâŠ..â

Cell Tower Removed From Schoolyard Due to Cluster of Cancer Cases
A cluster of cancer cases among young children at Weston Elementary School in Ripon, California, has reignited the conversation about whether electromagnetic field (EMF) radiation from cell towers might be a contributing factor.1 In 2016, at the age of 10, Kyle Prime was diagnosed with kidney cancer. Five months later, his classmate, Mason Ferrulli, was diagnosed with brain cancer.
This year, two more children at the school have received cancer diagnoses. Three teachers have also been diagnosed with various forms of cancer since 2016, along with two preschool-age children that live near the school, and a former student, who was diagnosed with brain cancer at the age of 22.2,3
The parents of Prime and Ferrulli believe the Sprint cellphone tower located on campus might have played a role, even though tests reveal it's functioning normally and emitting radiation below the government standard.
"It is classified as a possible carcinogen.4 That tells us that there is some evidence out there. We're not naive to the fact that there could be other components out there â other environmental influences⊠but the bottom line that we feel in regards to this tower is it doesn't belong there... if there's any indications that its unsafe," Monica Ferrulli told CBS News.5
Cellphone Radiation Safety Guidelines Are Outdated
Indeed, for those of you who are familiar with the health effects of EMFs and the way the government safety standards are set, such results are little proof of safety.
As noted by Joel Moskowitz, director of the Center for Family and Community Health at UC Berkeley (an area that has taken a stricter stance on EMF awareness and safety), the U.S. Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) "guidelines for cellphone radiation adopted in 1996 are outdated and were mostly based on work done by industry-paid scientists."6
Fortunately, while Sprint adamantly denies any possibility of harm to the community, the company has turned the tower off and says it will move the tower to another location. On the downside, any respite the area might get from this action is likely to be temporary, as the nationwide rollout of 5G draws near.7
5G Rollout Will Exponentially Increase EMF Exposures
Whether EMF can cause serious adverse effects is a question that is only going to grow stronger over time, especially in light of the 5G rollout. As noted in the The Modesto Bee:8
"Ripon and many other cities are preparing for the wireless industry's conversion to 5G technology, designed to provide highspeed Internet service for smartphones. The rollout involves the installation of hundreds, if not thousands, of 'small cell' devices that will expose people to radiofrequency waves in cities.
Because the 5G technology for wireless carriers will use 'millimeter' waves that travel short distances, around 200 small cell antennas may be needed in a city of Ripon's size, while the estimate for San Jose is more than 4,000."
What's worse, the FCC revised its rules relating to the rollout of 5G technology in September 2018, limiting cities' rights to control the placement of 5G antennas. Los Angeles and other cities sued to overturn the FCC's new rules, but January 10, 2019, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit sided with the FCC.9 In an email to Governining.com, Brian Namey, a spokesperson for the National Association of Counties, said:10
"We are concerned that the FCC's ruling overlooks community decision-making and significantly impedes counties' ability to ensure public safety and well-being. We share the FCC's goal of expanding broadband access for every American; however, a one-size-fits-all approach will not achieve that goal."
What You Need to Know About 5G
Unlike the 4G technology currently in use, which relies on 90-foot cell towers with about a dozen antenna ports on each, the 5G system uses "small cell" facilities or bases, each with about 100 antenna ports.11 These cell bases will be mounted to already existing infrastructure such as utility poles.
Ultimately, many if not most homeowners can expect to end up with a 5G cell base mounted right outside or very near their home. Workplaces and educational institutions will also be saturated with MMWs.
Once installed in your neighborhood, you won't have a choice to opt out of continuous 5G exposure, and research compiled by EMF coach and author Lloyd Burrell12 and others13,14 suggests the proliferation of 5G could turn into nothing short of a public health disaster.
Seeing how many are already struggling with electromagnetic hypersensitivity, saturating cities and suburban areas with MMW radiation will undoubtedly worsen their plight, and add many new sufferers.
5G (5th Generation) technology relies primarily on the bandwidth of the millimeter wave (MMW), which is primarily between 30 gigahertz (GHz) and 300GHz.15 The MMW is known to penetrate 1 to 2 millimeters of human skin tissue16,17 and has been linked to a number of potential health problems, including:18,19,20,21,22
Eye problems such as lens opacity in rats, which is linked to the production of cataracts,23 and eye damage in rabbits24,25
Impacted heart rate variability, an indicator of stress, in rats26,27,28 and heart rate changes (arrhythmias) in frogs29,30
Pain31 â MMW is actually what's used in crowd control weapons (Active Denial Systems) by the U.S. Department of Defense, as it has the ability to cause a severe burning sensation32
Suppressed immune function33
Depressed growth and increased antibiotic resistance in bacteria34
Doctors and Scientists Warn of 5G Hazards and Urge Caution
While MMWs have not been widely used before, it's already been suggested that sweat ducts in human skin act as antennae when they come in contact with MMWs.35 In a 2016 letter to the FCC, Dr. Yael Stein of the Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, Israel, who has studied 5G MMW technology and its interaction with the human body, writes:36
"Computer simulations have demonstrated that sweat glands concentrate sub-terahertz waves in human skin. Humans could sense these waves as heat. The use of sub-terahertz (millimeter wave) communications technology (cellphones, Wi-Fi, antennas) could cause humans to percept physical pain via nociceptors.
Potentially, if G5 Wi-Fi is spread in the public domain we may expect more of the health effects currently seen with RF/ microwave frequencies including many more cases of hypersensitivity (EHS), as well as many new complaints of physical pain and a yet unknown variety of neurologic disturbances.
It will be possible to show a causal relationship between G5 technology and these specific health effects. The affected individuals may be eligible for compensation ⊠Respected members of the FCC and U.S. Senate Committees, please protect Public Health and vote against exposure of the public to harmful G5 technology."
In 2015, 247 scientists engaged in the study of biological and health effects of nonionizing EMFs across the world signed an international appeal to the United Nations,37 calling for protection from nonionizing EMF exposure due to evidence of health effects even at low levels.
Two years later, in 2017, more than 180 doctors and scientists from 35 countries signed a petition38 to enact a moratorium on the rollout of 5G due to the potential risks to wildlife and human health.
20 Facts About 5G
In this video, Paul Ben Ishai, Ph.D., a senior lecturer with the department of physics at Ariel University in Israel, reviews the potential risks to human health from sub-MM communication systems. The Environmental Health Trust has also published a list39 of 20 facts you need to know about 5G wireless. These include:
5G coverage requires "small cell" antennas to be placed in neighborhoods everywhere.
Millions of small cells must be built into people's front yards.
The radiation from 5G small cells is not minor, and will increase EMF radiation near homes, causing aesthetic deterioration of the environment in addition to health risks.
5G will not replace current wireless technology but add to it, increasing exposure exponentially.
Community authority is being overruled at every level of government in the name of boosting cellphone coverage and internet speeds.
Cellphone companies have confirmed that 5G small cells will work at a distance of 3,000 feet and do not need to be placed every 100 feet, necessitating them being placed near homes.
Scientists worldwide are calling for a halt to the rollout of 5G.
Cumulative daily radiation exposure is associated with serious health effects, including cancer,40,41 altered brain development in children and reproductive damage in men.
Indeed, thousands of studies showing biological effects from low-intensity EMF, including over 1,800 referenced in the reportâs conclusion, were summarized in the BioInitiative Report42 (2007 and 2012), demonstrating immune system effects, neurological effects, cognitive effects and much more. Another important study,43 funded by the U.S. government, was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 2011.
Using a positron emission tomography or PET scan capable of detecting alterations in glucose, the researchers determined that cellphone radiation triggers your brain cells to metabolize glucose at an increased rate.
Glucose metabolism equates to cell activation, so the findings indicate that radiation from your cellphone has a well-defined measureable influence on your brain. Essentially, each time you put a cellphone up to your ear, you're artificially activating your brain cells.
Multiple papers have concluded wireless radiation is a human carcinogen; the International Agency for Research on Cancer classified cellphones as a Group 2B "possible carcinogen" in 2011,44 and two recent studies (one by the U.S. National Toxicology Program (NTP)45 and one by the Ramazzini Institute in Italy46) confirm its carcinogenic potential.
The NTP study found heart tumors (malignant schwannomas) in male rats, "similar to acoustic neuromas, a benign tumor in people involving the nerve that connects the ear to the brain, which some studies have linked to cellphone use."
According to experts, 5G small cell wireless streaming bills do not make financial sense.
Antennas near homes also decrease property values.
Microwave antennas in front yards pose several worker and public safety hazards.
Wireless companies warn investors of risks, but do not inform people living near cellphone towers.
Antennas near homes will cause a deterioration of sleep for the occupants, resulting in decreased performance and health.
Cellphone radiation has been shown to have an adverse impact on birds, bees, trees and plants.
Many U.S. cities and entire countries are voting to halt 5G.
The Federal Communications Commission does not monitor radiation exposures from cell installations and many cell towers already violate radiation limits.
The International Association of Firefighters officially oppose cell towers on fire stations, and have done so since 2004, after research showed firefighters with antennas on their stations suffered neurological damage, including memory problems, intermittent confusion and feelings of weakness.47
The American Academy of Pediatrics and many other medical organizations are calling for federal action to protect children from EMF exposures, citing research showing that living near mobile phone base stations is associated with an increased risk for headaches, memory problems, dizziness, depression and sleep disturbances.
Research48 by Martin Pall, Ph.D., published in 2016 detail how, when VGCCs are activated in the brain, they release neurotransmitters and neuroendocrine hormones. Hence, consequences of chronic EMF exposure to the brain also include anxiety, depression, autism and Alzheimer's.
Preliminary results from the largest long-term study49,50,51 of brain development and youth health in the U.S., the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study,52 also reveals the brains of the most prolific users of electronic devices look different compared to those who use smartphones, tablets and video games less frequently.
Children who use electronic devices for seven hours or more each day have premature thinning of the brain cortex, the outer brain layer that processes information from the five physical senses (taste, touch, sight, smell and sound). As little as two hours of screen time per day may impact cognition, resulting in lower scores on thinking and language tests.
Fiber optic connections is the solution and the safe alternative to boost internet speed and reliability.
Learn More About the Health Risks of 5G
You can download a two-page fact sheet53 on 5G from the Environmental Health Trust. On their website, you can also access a long list of published scientific studies showing cause for concern.54
In "5G Wireless Telecommunications Expansion: Public Health and Environmental Implications," published in Environmental Research in August 2018, Dr. Cindy Russell, executive director of Physicians for Safe Technology,55 writes:56
"Like other common toxic exposures, the effects of radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation (RF EMR) will be problematic if not impossible to sort out epidemiologically as there no longer remains an unexposed control group.
This is especially important considering these effects are likely magnified by synergistic toxic exposures and other common health risk behaviors. Effects can also be nonlinear.
Because this is the first generation to have cradle-to-grave life span exposure to this level of man-made microwave (RF EMR) radiofrequencies, it will be years or decades before the true health consequences are known. Precaution in the roll out of this new technology is strongly indicated."
Health Effects of EMF Exposure in General
Even without the addition of 5G, most people are already living in a proverbial sea of microwave radiation, and there's ample evidence suggesting this unnatural level of exposure is harming our health. For example, research has shown EMFs from cellphones, laptops, tablets, Wi-Fi, smart meters, baby monitors and other wireless devices:57
Create excess oxidative stress â EMFs activate voltage gated calcium channels located in the outer membrane of your cells.58,59,60,61,62 Once activated, the VGCCs allow an abnormal influx of calcium ions into the cell. The excess calcium triggers a chemical cascade that results in the creation of peroxynitrite, extremely potent oxidant stressors believed to be a root cause for many of today's chronic diseases.
Inside your body, peroxynitrite modifies tyrosine molecules in proteins to create a new substance, nitrotyrosine and nitration of structural protein.63 Changes from nitration are visible in human biopsy of atherosclerosis, myocardial ischemia, inflammatory bowel disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and septic lung disease.64 Over time, the cellular and mitochondrial damage being generated can set the stage and contribute to any number of health problems, including cancer.
Open the blood-brain barrier, allowing toxins to enter your brain.
Fragment DNA â Studies have shown EMFs cause DNA fragmentation. Significant oxidative stress from peroxynitrites may also result in single-strand breaks of DNA.65
Damage mitochondria, and impair proton flow and ATP production â The enzyme ATP synthase â which passes currents of protons through a water channel, similar to current passing through a wire â generates energy in the form ATP from ADP, using this flow of protons.
Magnetic fields can change the transparency of the water channel to protons, thereby reducing the current. As a result, you get less ATP, which can have system wide consequences, from promoting chronic disease and infertility to lowering intelligence.
Alter cellular function due to excessive charge â In a previous interview, Alasdair Philips, founder of the Powerwatch,66 explained how EMF exposure alters cellular function by way of excessive charges. Essentially, the cell functions as a gel, held together by electric charge. When the charge becomes excessive due to a massive influx of electrons, the function of the cell is disrupted.
Raise the risk for abnormal cell growth and cancer, including leukemia and cancer of the brain, acoustic nerve, salivary gland, eyes, testes, thyroid and breast â As early as 2011, the evidence was strong enough for the International Agency for Research on Cancer, the cancer research arm of the World Health Organization, to declare cellphones a Group 2B "possible carcinogen."67
Since then, a number of studies have found support for EMF having carcinogenic potential, including two recent studies by the National Toxicology Program (NTP, an interagency research program under the auspices of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences),68,69,70 which found clear evidence for heart tumors in male rats exposed to 2G and 3G cellphone radiation.
Corroborating evidence has been published by the Ramazzini Institute. The Ramazzini study71 reproduced and clearly supports the NTP's findings, showing a clear link between cellphone radiation and Schwann cell tumors (schwannomas)72,73,74 â but at a much lower power level than that used by NTP.
Has neurological effects â Studies dating back to the 1950s and '60s show the nervous system is the organ most sensitive to EMFs. Some of these studies show massive changes in the structure of neurons, including cell death and synaptic dysfunction. Consequences of chronic EMF exposure to the brain include anxiety, depression, autism and Alzheimer's disease, which Martin Pall, Ph.D., details in a 2016 paper.75
Contributes to reproductive problems in both sexes â For example, prenatal exposure to magnetic fields can nearly triple a pregnant woman's risk of miscarriage.76 Several other studies have come to similar conclusions.77,78,79,80,81 In men, studies show EMF radiation from cellphones and laptops reduces sperm motility and viability,82,83 and increases sperm DNA fragmentation.84
Alters your microbiome, turning what might otherwise be beneficial microbes pathogenic. This too can have far-ranging health effects, since we now know your microbiome plays an important role in health.
Remedial Strategies to Lower EMF Exposure
Below are several suggestions that will help reduce your EMF exposure. You can also find guidance and solutions for mitigating electric and magnetic fields at the end of "Healthy Wiring Practices,"85 a document created by building biologist Oram Miller, whom I've interviewed on this topic. In this document, he also discusses specific workarounds for various devices, including cellphones, MacBooks, Roku and Apple TV.
Nighttime remediation
Use filters to remove voltage transients from your electricity and use meters to confirm that they are in a safe range.
Use a battery-powered alarm clock, ideally one without any light. I use a talking clock for the visually impaired.86
Consider moving your baby's bed into your room instead of using a wireless baby monitor. Alternatively, use a hard-wired monitor.
If you must use Wi-Fi, shut it off when not in use, especially at night when you are sleeping. Ideally, work toward hardwiring your house so you can eliminate Wi-Fi altogether. It's important to realize that if you have a Wi-Fi router, you have a cellphone tower inside your home.
Ideally, you'd eliminate your Wi-Fi and simply use a wired connection. If you absolutely must have a router, you can place it inside a shielded bag when not in use. You can find shielded items online, or make your own using Swiss Shield fabric. If you have a notebook without any Ethernet ports, a USB Ethernet adapter will allow you to connect to the internet with a wired connection.
For more extensive shielding, you can consider painting your bedroom walls and ceiling with special shielding paint, which will block RF from outside sources, such as cell towers, smart meters and radio/TV towers. Windows can be covered with metal window screen or film. For your bed, consider a shielding bed canopy.
Daytime strategies to reduce unnecessary EMF exposure
To reduce EMF exposure during the daytime, consider using Stetzer filters to decrease the level of dirty electricity or electromagnetic interference being generated. You can also take these with you to work or when you travel. This may be the single best strategy to reduce the damage from EMF exposure since it appears that most of it is generated by the frequencies that the filters remove.
Connect your desktop computer to the internet via a wired Ethernet connection and be sure to put your desktop in airplane mode. Also avoid wireless keyboards, trackballs, mice, game systems, printers and portable house phones. Opt for the wired versions.
Avoid carrying your cellphone on your body unless in airplane mode and never sleep with it in your bedroom unless it is in airplane mode. Even in airplane mode it can emit signals, which is why I put my phone in a Faraday bag.87
When using your cellphone, use the speaker phone and hold the phone at least 3 feet away from you. Seek to radically decrease your time on the cellphone. I typically use my cellphone less than 30 minutes a month, and mostly when traveling. Instead, use VoIP software phones that you can use while connected to the internet via a wired connection, or better yet, use a landline telephone.
General household remediation
If you still use a microwave oven, consider replacing it with a steam convection oven, which will heat your food as quickly and far more safely.
Avoid using "smart" appliances and thermostats that depend on wireless signaling. This would include all new "smart" TVs. They are called smart because they emit a Wi-Fi signal and, unlike your computer, you cannot shut the Wi-Fi signal off. Consider using a large computer monitor as your TV instead, as they don't emit Wi-Fi.
Replace CFL bulbs with incandescent bulbs. Ideally remove all fluorescent lights from your house. Not only do they emit unhealthy light, but more importantly, they will actually transfer current to your body just being close to the bulbs.
Dimmer switches are a source of dirty electricity, so consider installing regular on/off switches rather than dimmer switches.
Refuse smart meters as long as you can, or add a shield to an existing smart meter, some of which have been shown to reduce radiation by 98 to 99 percent.88

Cell Tower Removed From Schoolyard Due to Cluster of Cancer Cases
youtube
A cluster of cancer cases among young children at Weston Elementary School in Ripon, California, has reignited the conversation about whether electromagnetic field (EMF) radiation from cell towers might be a contributing factor.1 In 2016, at the age of 10, Kyle Prime was diagnosed with kidney cancer. Five months later, his classmate, Mason Ferrulli, was diagnosed with brain cancer.
This year, two more children at the school have received cancer diagnoses. Three teachers have also been diagnosed with various forms of cancer since 2016, along with two preschool-age children that live near the school, and a former student, who was diagnosed with brain cancer at the age of 22.2,3
The parents of Prime and Ferrulli believe the Sprint cellphone tower located on campus might have played a role, even though tests reveal itâs functioning normally and emitting radiation below the government standard.
âIt is classified as a possible carcinogen.4That tells us that there is some evidence out there. Weâre not naive to the fact that there could be other components out there â other environmental influences⊠but the bottom line that we feel in regards to this tower is it doesnât belong there⊠if thereâs any indications that its unsafe,â Monica Ferrulli told CBS News.5
Federal Communications Commissionâs (FCC) âguidelines for cellphone radiation adopted in 1996 are outdated and were mostly based on work done by industry-paid scientists.â6
As noted in the The Modesto Bee:8
âRipon and many other cities are preparing for the wireless industryâs conversion to 5G technology, designed to provide highspeed Internet service for smartphones. The rollout involves the installation of hundreds, if not thousands, of âsmall cellâ devices that will expose people to radiofrequency waves in cities.
Because the 5G technology for wireless carriers will use 'millimeterâ waves that travel short distances, around 200 small cell antennas may be needed in a city of Riponâs size, while the estimate for San Jose is more than 4,000.â
Whatâs worse, the FCC revised its rules relating to the rollout of 5G technology in September 2018, limiting citiesâ rights to control the placement of 5G antennas. Los Angeles and other cities sued to overturn the FCCâs new rules, but January 10, 2019, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit sided with the FCC.9 In an email to Governining.com, Brian Namey, a spokesperson for the National Association of Counties, said:10
âWe are concerned that the FCCâs ruling overlooks community decision-making and significantly impedes countiesâ ability to ensure public safety and well-being. We share the FCCâs goal of expanding broadband access for every American; however, a one-size-fits-all approach will not achieve that goal.â
What You Need to Know About 5G
youtube
Unlike the 4G technology currently in use, which relies on 90-foot cell towers with about a dozen antenna ports on each, the 5G system uses âsmall cellâ facilities or bases, each with about 100 antenna ports.11 These cell bases will be mounted to already existing infrastructure such as utility poles.
Ultimately, many if not most homeowners can expect to end up with a 5G cell base mounted right outside or very near their home. Workplaces and educational institutions will also be saturated with MMWs.
Once installed in your neighborhood, you wonât have a choice to opt out of continuous 5G exposure, and research compiled by EMF coach and author Lloyd Burrell12 and others13,14 suggests the proliferation of 5G could turn into nothing short of a public health disaster.
Pain31 â MMW is actually whatâs used in crowd control weapons (Active Denial Systems) by the U.S. Department of Defense, as it has the ability to cause a severe burning sensation32
Suppressed immune function33
Depressed growth and increased antibiotic resistance in bacteria34
Doctors and Scientists Warn of 5G Hazards and Urge Caution
While MMWs have not been widely used before, itâs already been suggested that sweat ducts in human skin act as antennae when they come in contact with MMWs.35 In a 2016 letter to the FCC, Dr. Yael Stein of the Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, Israel, who has studied 5G MMW technology and its interaction with the human body, writes:36
âComputer simulations have demonstrated that sweat glands concentrate sub-terahertz waves in human skin.
Senate Committees, please protect Public Health and vote against exposure of the public to harmful G5 technology.â

5G coverage requires âsmall cellâ antennas to be placed in neighborhoods everywhere.
Millions of small cells must be built into peopleâs front yards.
The radiation from 5G small cells is not minor, and will increase EMF radiation near homes, causing aesthetic deterioration of the environment in addition to health risks.

Below are several suggestions that will help reduce your EMF exposure. The Latest: Short-track semifinals underway in Pyeongchang
PYEONGCHANG, South Korea/February 10, 2018 (AP)(STL.News) â The Latest on the Pyeongchang Olympics (all times local):
7:55 p.m.
The first night of short-track speed skating is underway at the Pyeongchang Olympics.
All three Americans have advanced to the semifinals of the menâs 1,500 meters. Three-time Olympian J.R. Celski and John-Henry Krueger nearly fell in their heats, while a crash involving two skaters allowed Aaron Tran to move on in the 13 Âœ-lap race.
South Koreaâs three skaters â Hwang Dae-heon, Lim Hyo-jun and Seo Yira â also qualified for the semis to the delight of the home crowd, which roared any time one of their skaters was in the lead. Short track is hugely popular in the host country.
World record holder Sjinkie Knegt of the Netherlands safely moved on, as did defending Olympic champion Charles Hamelin of Canada.
U.S. Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen are in the crowd.
___
7:35 p.m.
Vice President Mike Pence is cheering on U.S. speed skaters at the Winter Olympics before departing South Korea for Washington.
Pence and his wife are viewing the short-track competition Saturday with South Korean President Moon Jae-in and his wife. Eight Americans are participating in the event.
Itâs the final stop on a six-day trip that Pence hoped would increase pressure on North Korea as it seeks to use the games to pursue an opening with the South.
Penceâs efforts to keep the spotlight on North Koreaâs nuclear program and human rights abuses have taken a back seat to the widely viewed images of the two Koreas marching under one flag during Friday nightâs opening ceremony â and to the invitation by dictator Kim Jong Un for South Korean President Moon Jae-in to visit the North.
___
7:25 p.m.
Norwegian cross-country skiing star Marit Bjoergen says this will be her final Olympics.
Bjoergen has won her 11th Olympic medal, taking silver in the 15-kilometer skiathlon, making her the most decorated female Winter Olympian ever.
The 37-year-old is still hoping to pass biathlete Ole Einar Bjoerndalen, who has 13 podium finishes, before the end of these Olympic Games. She wonât say how many races she plans to participate in in Pyeongchang, only that she will participate in the womenâs sprint on Tuesday.
âI havenât thought about that. For sure itâs my last Olympics, but for me, I have to focus on doing good races,â Bjoergen said. âI think when Iâm finished with the Olympics I can look behind me and see how many medals I have. For me itâs important to do the race and have the focus there.â
___
7:10 p.m.
Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven is hailing Charlotte Kalla, who won the first gold medal of the Pyeongchang Olympics.
Lofven wrote on Instagram âSwedenâs first gold hero at the Olympic Games! Congratulations Kalla.â
Kalla won gold ahead of Norwegian cross-country skier Marit Bjoergen in the womenâs 15-kilometer skiathlon.
___
7:05 p.m.
Sara Hjalmarsson scored 1:53 into the third period and Sweden held off Japan 2-1 in a thrilling game to open the preliminary round for womenâs ice hockey at the Pyeongchang Games.
This was only Japanâs third appearance in the Olympics for womenâs ice hockey, and they had to start off pool play against a country that took home silver in 2006 and bronze in 2002.
Sweden took a 1-0 lead 2:21 into the game when Fanny Rask scored from a tough angle, squeezing the puck between Nana Fujimotoâs head and the post.
The Japanese tied it up with 3:08 left in the second period.
The Swedes took the lead back thanks to a great takeaway by Erika Grahm who then passed the puck backward to Hjalmarsson in the slot for the go-ahead goal.
___
6:55 p.m.
U.S. Vice President Mike Pence is not directly addressing news that North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un has invited South Korean President Moon Jae-in for a visit, as the two Koreas use the Olympics as an opportunity for renewing ties amid concerns over North Koreaâs nuclear capabilities.
Pence spokeswoman Alyssa Farah says, âThe vice president is grateful that President Moon reaffirmed his strong commitment to the global maximum pressure campaign and for his support for continued sanctions.â
Kimâs sister, Kim Yo Jong, delivered the invitation to Moon on Saturday.
Pence has meant to use his trip to the Olympics to caution the South against âfalling forâ the Northâs overtures, which in the past have been used as stall tactics to allow for continued development of its nuclear program.
___
6:45 p.m.
An army of high-flying drones expected to light up the sky at the opening ceremony of the Olympics was grounded.
Viewers of NBCâs tape-delayed broadcast in the United States still saw it, but it was a pre-recorded version from a rehearsal.
Intel Corp. was expected to launch 300 drones as part of an extravagant light show, but those plans were scrapped. International Olympic Committee spokesman Mark Adams says the drones werenât deployed because of an âimpromptu logistical change.â
NBC aired a light show, but it was from Intelâs launching of 1,280 drones in December in Pyeongchang.
The incident was reminiscent of the Sochi Games in 2014, when one of the five Olympic rings failed to light â but Russian state television aired rehearsal footage of it happening.
___

Speedskater Shani Davis has declined to talk to reporters for a second day in a row about the controversy over how the U.S. Olympic Team chose its flag-bearer for the opening ceremony.
Davis, who skipped the ceremony, trained Saturday but walked by journalists afterward without stopping to answer questions.
After luger Erin Hamlin was picked to carry the flag, a tweet from Davisâs account said Team USA âdishonorablyâ used a coin toss to make the decision and added the #BlackHistoryMonth2018 hashtag. Davis is black and Hamlin is white. The coin toss happened after they tied 4-4 in a vote by fellow athletes.
Team spokesman Matt Whewell says Davis is intent on staying focused on his Olympic races for now. His first race is Tuesdayâs 1,500 meters.
A tweet from his account a few hours after the opening ceremony read, âIt has been such an honor to have represented the greatest, most diverse country in the world at the last five Winter Games during the same month as #blackhistorymonth #goTeamUSA Watch âOrigins of Black History Month.'â

American cross-country skier Jessie Diggins says nerves may have gotten the best of her before the womenâs 15-kilometer (9.3-mile) skiathlon, causing her to throw up shortly before the race.
Diggins was third in the World Cup rankings coming in but finished fifth on Saturday at the Pyeongchang Games.
The 26-year-old says, âI need to work on a few things to manage stress.â
She says she also struggled with cramping in her triceps during the race and will reconsider her hydration plan moving forward. Overall, though, she says she did the best she could and got the most out of her body.
Diggins says it wasnât her best race, but she still feels like sheâs in a âgood placeâ to become the first American cross-country skier to win a medal since Bill Koch in 1976.

Swedenâs Charlotte Kalla won the first gold medal of the Pyeongchang Games and Norwegian cross-country skier Marit Bjoergen took silver in the womenâs 15-kilometer skiathlon to become the most decorated female Winter Olympian ever.
Bjoergen captured her 11th career medal Saturday, breaking a three-way tie with Russian Raisa Smetanina and Italian Stefania Belmondo.
Kalla won the race by more than seven seconds, breaking away from the pack in the final 2 kilometers to avenge her loss to Bjoergen in the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
Jessica Diggins finished fifth, failing to become the first American woman to earn a medal in cross-country skiing.
Krista Parmakoski of Finland finished third.

Race organizers say they expect âchallengingâ conditions to stage the Olympic menâs downhill on Sunday.
Team leaders have been told the weather forecast is âpartly cloudy but the wind will be strong.â Race-time temperatures will be below freezing on the Jeongseon hill.
Gusts and tailwinds affected a shortened practice run on Friday but eased for the final training session Saturday.
Race director says Markus Waldner âit was good enough to have a race today. Tomorrow we will see.â
Waldner says a decision whether to delay the 11 a.m. start, or postpone the race, is expected at 10 a.m.

Russian International Olympic Committee member Yelena Isinbayeva says Russian athletes at the Pyeongchang Games will be more successful because of anger that others were excluded.
Isinbayeva, the pole vault world record holder, says on Instagram that âeverything will definitely work out for us.â
She says, âAfter all, when theyâre angry and enraged, Russians are unbeatable.â
Isinbayeva adds she finds it âterribleâ that many Russian athletes failed to pass an IOC vetting process examining whether they were linked to doping schemes.
She says she is âvery disappointed for all the clean athletes who werenât let in, who didnât even get an explanation of why they were excluded.â
Isinbayeva didnât attend this weekâs IOC session in Pyeongchang because she is heavily pregnant.

U.S. hockey coach Robb Stauber knows whom he plans to start in net when the American women kick off their quest for Olympic gold, but he just hasnât told his trio of goaltenders yet.
Not that waiting to hear who gets the honor of playing Sunday against Finland is bothering Maddie Rooney, Alex Rigsby or Nicole Hensley. Theyâre all preparing as if Stauber will be tapping them first as the Americans start their quest to end the countryâs 20-year drought without Olympic gold.
The Pyeongchang Games are the first Olympics for all three goalies, so prior experience at the worldâs biggest tournament for womenâs hockey wonât be a deciding factor.
Stauber says heâs also leaving himself some room to change his mind as well in a short tournament.

Yuna Kimâs an Olympic gold medalist and a two-time world champion figure skater, but she still gets nervous, including at Fridayâs opening ceremony.
The South Korean performed on a tiny ice rink propped high in the air with 35,000 fans looking on at the Pyeongchang Olympics.
Kim skated for about 30 seconds and then took the torch from two North and South Korean ice hockey players who climbed 120 steps to deliver it.
Kim says, âWhen I was on the ice rink, I couldnât really see the spectators in the stadium. I was only thinking I could fall, so I shouldnât make any mistakes.â
She didnât.
The two hockey players had no chance to practice. She was concerned, but it went according to script, with Kim delivering the flame to the cauldron.

2:15 p.m.
Early start times for figure skating at the Pyeongchang Olympics are good for U.S. audiences who get to watch in primetime, but not always so great for the athletes.
Competition begins at 10 a.m. each day, and that means 5 a.m. wake-up calls. Thatâs because of the 14-hour time difference with the U.S. East Coast.
The early starts may have contributed to some tumbles by big names in the opening day of the team competition. Patrick Chan of Canada and Nathan Chen of the U.S. both fell during their short programs. Russian skater Mikhail Kolyada was next, falling twice during his short program as part of the team competition.
Waking up at 5 gives the skaters just an hour to get dressed and board the bus to the arena for 7 a.m. practice.
Then, they have to sit around a couple of hours until their moment in the spotlight. There isnât enough time to head back to their rooms, so most pass the time trying to rest and relax, often listening to music and going through their programs in their minds.

Racing with a torn ACL, former Olympic champion Carlo Janka has lost his bid to be selected by Switzerland in the menâs downhill.
Jankaâs coaches set a top five target in the final practice run to make the four-man Swiss team for Sundayâs race. He placed 18th, 1.19 seconds off the pace.
âI had to be on the very top today. I missed that,â Janka tells The Associated Press.
The 2010 Olympic gold medalist in giant slalom has not started a race all season after damaging his right knee in October.
Janka opted for physical therapy over surgery in hope of competing at Jeongseon, where he got the last of his 11 career World Cup wins â a super-G that tested the Olympic course in February 2016.
Still, he will start in Alpine combined scheduled Tuesday, and maybe super-G on Thursday.
Janka says his knee is âgood enough to go on 100 percentâ in the dry snow and good visibility at Jeongseon.

1:25 p.m.
Norwayâs powerful duo Aksel Lund Svindal and Kjetil Jansrud pushed hard while world champion Beat Feuz took things easy in a final training run for Sundayâs Olympic downhill.
Still, it was Austrian Vincent Kriechmayr who raced fastest down the sun-splashed 2.9-kilometer (1 5/6-mile) course on Saturday.
Kriechmayr was 0.12 seconds faster than Jansrud, who is shaping up as the prerace favorite on the Jeongseon course, where he won the test race in 2016.
Svindal was third-fastest, 0.35 seconds behind the lead, as Feuz of Switzerland eased off in the lower sections to coast into the finish.
Feuz is the in-form racer after two wins and a second place in three World Cup downhills in January.
Saturdayâs practice was run over the full course with little sign of strong winds forecast through the weekend.

Pyeongchang Olympic organizers are investigating a possible attack on their internet and Wi-Fi systems about 45 minutes before the opening ceremony.
Organizing committee spokeswoman Nancy Park says the defense ministry and a cybersecurity team are investigating the outage. She says the outage didnât affect Fridayâs opening ceremony or any competitions.
She says systems were almost back to normal about 15 hours after the problems were discovered.
South Koreaâs Yonhap news agency reports servers were shut down to prevent damage to technical systems, causing problems with the Pyeongchang Olympic website.
Park declined to call it a cyberattack and says they donât want to speculate since theyâre still trying to identify where it came from.

Mikaela Shiffrin canât help but laugh when a reporter asks what her reaction is to being compared to Michael Phelps, the U.S. swimmer who is the most decorated Olympian in history.
âYouâre crazy,â the American ski racer replied. âOK, he has, what, 23 medals?â
Actually, Phelpsâ haul is 23 golds â and 28 medals in all.
Shiffrinâs only medal so far is a gold in slalom at age 18 in 2014 at Sochi. She comes to the Pyeongchang Games with a chance to become the first skier to win that race twice in a row at the Olympics.
She will also be among the favorites in Mondayâs giant slalom, could contend for a medal in the combined on Feb. 23, and might also enter the downhill and super-G.
For now, though, sheâll only commit to entering the slalom and giant slalom.
âI would like to compete in everything,â she said. âIâm not sure if Iâm actually going to have the energy to do that.â

The U.S. will send out siblings Maia and Alex Shibutani in the ice dance and Bradie Tennell in the womenâs short program when the team competition resumes Sunday at Gangneung Ice Arena.
The Americans, who are second behind Canada after the pairs and menâs short programs, waited until the last possible moment to announce their lineup in a bit of gamesmanship with its rival nations.
The Shibutanis were chosen over U.S. champs Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue and the team of Madison Chock and Evan Bates. Tennell got the nod over Mirai Nagasu and Karen Chen.
The top five nations after their short programs advance to the free skate later Sunday.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in is hosting lunch for senior North Korean officials including leader Kim Jong Unâs sister in the most significant diplomatic encounter between the rivals in years.
The meeting at the Blue House in Seoul on Saturday comes after Kim Yo Jong and other North Korean delegates attended the opening ceremony of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics where they took their place among dignitaries from around the world, including U.S. Vice President Mike Pence.
Itâs unclear whether the occasion could be used to set up bigger meetings between the Koreas to ease tensions. The Koreas could potentially talk about a South Korean special envoy meeting Kim Jong Un in Pyongyang or even a summit between Moon and Kim.

The organizing committee for the Pyeongchang Olympics says another 11 people have been diagnosed with norovirus.
That brings the total to 139 since Feb. 1. Seven of the new cases are at a youth training center where security personnel for the games have been staying.
Most of the norovirus cases were in people staying at the center, and about 1,200 were sequestered there, forcing the military to step in to help with security. Those who have tested negative for norovirus have been released from quarantine and returned to work.
Norovirus is a common, infectious bug that causes unpleasant symptoms including diarrhea and vomiting but doesnât require medical treatment.
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and Korea Center for Disease Control have distributed 15,000 bottles of hand sanitizer and taken other measures including stepped up inspection of restaurants and monitoring of water quality. There are signs all over the Olympics reminding people to clean their hands.

5 Ways Adults See Their Best Memories Turn Into Nightmares
Iâve talked before about how, despite what adults tell you, your teens are not the best years of your life. There are some pretty awesome things that happen during that period, but your enjoyment of them has nothing to do with a lack of bills or not having to support a family. Thatâs what an adult says when theyâre fed up with the stress of their own lives and projecting it onto yours. Itâs short-sighted and idiotic. Suck it, mom.
It has everything to do with the little milestones that represent growing chunks of freedom. They are, in essence, rites of passage that mean youâre putting your teenage years behind you. Youâre escaping. When they happen, youâll mentally log those as some of the funnest times in your life. Then, when you get older, youâll flip through your skullâs Dewey Decimal System, pull up those memories ⊠and be absolutely goddamn horrified when you picture your own kids doing seemingly insignificant things like âŠ
#5. Getting Their First Job
Why Itâs Important:
Aside from just straight up giving your parents the finger and moving out of the house, getting your first job is the ultimate transition from adolescence into adulthood. If you work a night shift, curfew is more flexible. You likely have your own car, or will soon be buying one, so youâre not dependent on mom or dadâs level of sobriety in order to drive you places. If parents are the ones buying your clothes and entertainment, they likely have a say in what you get, so a job frees you up from all of that. Itâs your money. Youâll buy a katana if you want to, goddammit.
In the general publicâs idea of âadulthood,â the word âjobâ is more important than âage.â And it should be. I have 40-year-old relatives rotting away in prison right now because smoking foils and stealing shit was more important to them than seeing their kids graduate high school. Those people arenât adults. The adults in their families are the kids who figured out this one basic financial formula: âWork for the shit I need. Save for the shit I want. Oh, and donât fuck with meth.â
Donât vape, either. It makes you look like a twat.
Why It Scares The Shit Out Of Parents:
Up until this point, the only real authority figures in your lives have been parents and teachers. Cops donât really count unless youâre a sociopath, and even then, thereâs not a lot they can do to punish minors. But when you make that transition into the working world, you have a brand-new set of second parents in the form of supervisors and managers. And as adults, we know that most of those are clinical assholes.
Weâre not so much concerned about the way they treat you as humans. We know from experience that your life is going to be like that Harry Potter scene where theyâre trapped in that vault and all of the treasure starts reproducing. Except instead of gold and silver goblets, itâs an unceasing explosion of assholes. An asshole geyser, if you will. Weâre more worried that youâre still in the process of learning how to be a socially functioning human, and we donât want some power-tripping dickhead influencing how you perceive and treat the rest of the world.
Weâve had our own jobs as teenagers, and we know that there are employees who steal and get away with it. We donât want them teaching you how to do that, because if you get caught, youâre screwed. And even if you donât get caught, youâre a piece of shit. We know that there are bosses who can easily make you think that the correct way to manage is to scream, curse, and throw tantrums. Or on the other end of that spectrum are managers who let employees get away with things that would get their asses fired in a more serious âadultâ job.
â⊠the FUCK outta here!â
No, itâs not that weâre afraid of how theyâll treat you. Weâre afraid of what they could turn you into. Seventeen years of hard work teaching you the right thing can be undone with a single dose of the unfiltered world. Iâve seen it happen. And yeah, I know that not all kids are precious little angels just waiting to be corrupted by the cruel, remorseless world. But the more rebellious, anti-authority kids tend to learn a lot quicker when they come to work in a bad mood, tell their boss to go fuck himself, and then watch their work history collapse for the next five years. Thatâs a whole new set of fears, because if that kid has already started paying for his or her first car and then loses their job ⊠congratulations, parents! You just added a new car payment to your budget.
Oh, and speaking of cars âŠ
#4. Driving A Car On Their Own For The First Time
Why Itâs Important:
Itâs a car. Come on. You just spent the last few months in driverâs ed, learning all of the rules that everyone ignores the second they start driving on their own. You spent the (in my state) 40 hours of mandatory driving with a parent in the passenger seat. Not all at once. That would be silly. Youâre silly. Stop being silly.
You sillyass.
Every little imperfection has been pointed out while we held your hand through the process. Youâve sat through dozens of lectures from teachers, parents, aunts, and uncles â and if youâre crazy rich, that sweet talking car from Knight Rider â explaining how the world is full of bad drivers, and you should always be looking out for âthe other guy.â Always wear your seat belt. Never, ever, eeeever drink and drive. Donât even take a chance with your cellphone. Just turn that shit off. If you try to merge while eating an egg salad sandwich, your face will fall off.
Those are deviled eggs, dipshit. Those are fine.
Finally, all of that bullshit is over with. Itâs time to grab the keys, put on your awesome NASCAR helmet with flames painted down the sides, and hit the open road. No more lectures. No more, âHow many times have I told you to HIT THE FUCKING BRAKES when you turn a corner?!â Eat me, Grandma. This is my world, now.
Why It Scares The Shit Out Of Parents:
The most obvious reason is that you are piloting a machine that will end you before you even have time to shit your pants. I donât know a single person who doesnât know someone who died in a car accident. The not-so-obvious reason, unfortunately, is one of trust. Both of you and everyone else in the entire world. Sorry, but Iâm going to get all real up in your shorts for a minute. Thatâs a thing kids say, right?
The truth is that weâve seen you at your dumbest. If my oldest son is reading this, understand that Iâm not calling you dumb as an individual. Iâm talking in a blanket sense. Ask any adult you want about whether or not they considered themselves smart and worldly as a teenager, and theyâll laugh you out of the room. âOh Christ, no. I was dumb as owl shit.â One time I jumped from the top of a two-story barn into a snow drift that was only two feet deep because I thought it would be fluffy and soft. It was not. My brother once wondered if hairspray would still ignite if it was dry, and set a girlâs head on fire. Neither of those statements are jokes.
It makes me feel better to remember it like this.
Weâve seen the dumb shit you do, and we shudder when we think about the stuff we havenât seen. The idea that you could space out for even a few seconds while driving a car sends us into a blind panic. Then add on top of that the idiocy of every other person who exists outside of your windshield. People blowing through red lights at full speed. Drunk drivers. Little kids sprinting out into the street to chase down a ball. In my part of the country, we have suicidal deer as big as ponies.
So itâs not just that weâve seen you at your worst, and weâre hoping you can shed that while behind the wheel. Weâre thinking about all of the accidents or near misses that weâve seen as adults with decades of experience under our belts, and itâs still hard. And thatâs not a dick joke.
#3. Staying With Friends While Their Parents Are Gone
Why Itâs Important:
Of all the things on this list, this is the one I remember the most fondly. The first time I was allowed to spend the weekend with my friends and no adults around was incredible. A group of about ten of us decided to go on a camping trip at the end of the school year. The ones who were old enough to drive picked up the rest, so it was two trucks, which meant a whole shitload of us rode in the bed. The second we pulled away from the last house, we all transformed into raw teenage boys, cursing out the kind of insults at each other which in retrospect make me die a little inside. Teenage boys are weird.
Along the way, the drivers decided to race. So at barely sunrise, we were throwing donuts at each other, going 90 side-by-side on the highway. Again, with most of the guys sitting or standing loose in the beds of pickup trucks.
When we got to the campsite, we unloaded all of our fishing poles, food, tents, blankets, pillows, beer ⊠oh, and guns. Probably 20 of them, ranging from run-of-the-mill 12-gauge shotguns to .45 autos to an AK-47 or two. By sundown, every one of us was drunk as shit, firing weapons and throwing unspent bullets into the campfire. Nobody remembered to bring water, so when we ran out of beer, we had to just drink the melted ice from the dirty-ass coolers. It was freedom at its purest.
Just move the fish aside. Thereâs water underneath.
Why It Scares The Shit Out Of Parents:
HOLY FUCKBALLS, HOW DID NONE OF US DIE?!
OK, my personal illustration of dumbassery aside, there are legitimately more subtle reasons this scares parents. Take away the camping, the guns, the booze, and the race that gave 20 middle fingers to Death himself, and we still have stuff to worry about.
All of the fun stuff that we tell our kids not to do ⊠those are the things theyâre going to immediately dive into the second weâre out of sight. Iâve accepted that thereâs a pretty good chance my kids, like most kids, will eventually experiment with drugs. But when they do, I hope to god itâs just pot and not something that was made in some redneckâs bathtub. Our state (like most states) has a fairly bad problem with prescription drug abuse. About one in five teenagers will try them at some point, and they are super easy to get. In fact, theyâre much, much easier to get on the streets than they are from a doctor. My kids are smart, but not so smart that I trust them to know how much Vicodin is safe to take versus their body weight, metabolism, personal resistances to pain killers, and whether or not theyâre allergic to the medication in the first place.
âJust grab a handful. Theyâre healthy.â
When weâre talking about that shit, weâre far beyond a night of giggling and eating Twinkies. Weâre talking about highly addictive medication that can kill your ass if you go overboard. But enough about drugs. Thatâs probably just the paranoid addict in me talking.
We still worry about what liberties theyâre going to take when weâre not around. Simple things like staying out after curfew. In a small town, itâs not that big a deal, but in a larger city, you might as well be painting a neon bullseye on their asses, along with a sign that says, âPlease beat the shit out of me and take my wallet. I am the dumping grounds for your drunken 3 a.m. rage!â Hell, even in a small town, pull up a website that shows the locations of sexual predators in your area, and tell me that doesnât make you want to teach them some Deadpool shit.
But as a parent, you just have to finally learn to let go and give them a little slack. Itâs just really hard to trust someone who has to be reminded on a daily basis to brush their teeth. Itâs even harder to trust the strangers in a town whom you regularly fantasize about being on fire.
