Ctrl Alt Critique - Streets of Rage 4

Slightly later than intended post. I was meant to post this last week, however time has not been on my side as of recent. We’ve dropped two podcast episodes since my last post. Here is the first of these uploads. Bailey, Ad and I cover the 2020 beat-em-up smash, Streets of Rage 4.

Stella is quick to retrieve her shirt from the back of the couch and slip it over her head, still clutching the torn mugshot. There's a distinct vulnerability that occurs when the highs have dwindled, the lights have brightened and reality has woven back into the cocoon they've built around themselves. Adam is her boss, and that is a difficult boundary to come to terms with when she's still topless in front of him.

"Thank you," she murmurs, unaware of how dry her throat has become until the glass is placed in her hand. She obeys and takes a sip, instantly satiated as the cool liquid wets her lips. "Three am? Shit, the night really got away from us, huh." Stella shouldn't stay, she really shouldn't. There are lines for a reason, and she's already made the (albeit unregrettable) mistake of crossing one with Adam tonight. She shouldn't decide to throw it all away and cross a few more. But. Fatigue sits heavy behind her eyelids and Adam lives across town from her apartment. It's a tempting offer. "Are you sure? Don't feel like you have to offer because of..." Stella trails off, letting the silent context explain itself. "Besides, it's not like I brought my pyjamas."

"He's never looked better..." relative to any of the mugshots pulled from the files, it didn't particularly matter which. Stella, on the other hand, he took a moment or two for him to draw his gaze from her, seeking out the sweatpants tossed wayside however long before hand. "That pricks face is seared into my mind anyway, it's overkill at this point." Disappearing for a short moment, Adam returns with two glasses of water, setting his own down only to reach out and switch the ruined page from her hand for the other glass, "hydrate,' a muttered suggestion as he frowned, steeping to flick up any other scattered pages. "Around three, I think. Hang around a few more hours if you want, get some sleep. I can "swing by and grab you on the way to the station." An effort that wasn't entirely outside of his realm when it came to some of the officers.
