all this ace attorney localization discourse has reminded me that even though it has been 3 years, and even though he is one of the least important characters in the whole series, i am still mad about them changing Adam Ladyfirst to Lay D. Furst.

If you asked me without prior knowledge which one of these was made by a Japanese person roughly estimating what real English names sound like, I would have guessed wrong. And then throttled you.

late reply again sorry Ladyfirst is such a weird dweeb lmaooooo, I love him. Out of all the unique witnesses in case 3, he’s the most interesting, and I wish he had been the returning jury member later on, instead of Fairplay... He’s so cutely naive and dumb, his hilariously random side tangent about how he farted one time in an omnibus had me rolling, but he also has that bizarre unexpected angry side of him??? big yandere vibes... dude could definitely kill a man and I wouldn’t be too surprised, honestly. Never getting over his ridiculous pissed-off horse-riding pose, and the way he talks during it... lol

Also iirc it’s revealed when trying to make connections between them and Mortar/Megundal that Mortar got his hat made from Ladyfirst, and you can definitely see the resemblance between their hats, that’s super sweet. 🥺 Wonder if Rupert knows about this..... now I want the two of them to interact. :’)

For the request, I would likes to see Ladyfirst experiencing weight gain at the state of pregnancy.

Pregnancy isn’t the same for everyone, Adam knew this. But sometimes he kept questioning every little thing. Should he be eating this? Should he be lying down? Was he worrying too much? Was he not worrying enough?

This came to a head when he tried to get ready for the day only to realise he couldn’t get his trousers on. Had they shrunk?!

No, it seemed that upon looking at his reflection, his body had gotten a bit thicker as of late. Was this normal? Adam had expected his belly to expand, but the rest of his body!?

He sighed unsure what to do until he felt his side get pinched.

Oscar Fairplay, his husband, was 13 years his senior and as such was a bit more familiar with what was going on. His sister had gained weight during her pregnancy and would prattle on about it to him while he was forced to listen. So he knew this was to be expected.

“Been eating a bit more than usual have with Ladyfirst?” He said teasingly, his fingers still in position after playfully pinching him.

“Ow! You certainly aren’t as fair as your namesake...” Adam pouted struggling to get back without tripping “and I can’t help it... I need those pastries!!”

“I know. I wouldn’t stress.” Oscar smiled, dropping the mask of the serious banker but for a moment. “Take the day off, I’ll call in to your workplace on the way to let them know and then we’ll find you some proper pants...

Adam couldn’t help but simply nod. Oscar seemed so kind and gentle about all of this. Far different to his usual firm exterior. It was almost overwhelming. But even so it made him feel good knowing he would be ok, especially since he was sure his baby would be in good hands...

Thoughts on Adam Ladyfirst?

First of all, I really love his hat. It’s cute and unique and it fits Adam so well! And I lowkey want one as well. In general, I think Adam is a fun witness. He’s quirky and interesting. I honestly thought (before the whole Megundal reveal) that Adam could be the real killer. He was just so suspiciously nice. I thought that this could have been just an act. I was waiting for that big reveal and he’d show his real evil self. Since Adam showed an interest in horse racing, I thought that maybe he lost all his money and got money from Megundal and somehow could have been more involved in the murder. Obviously that didn’t happen. Thankfully, since I like Adam and I’m glad he’s no murderer. 

I’m really sad that he didn’t appear again after Case 3 though. It would have been nice to see him as a juror. I wonder what happened to him after the trial. Fairplay got cleared from all suspicion. But what happened to Adam? Did he become the main suspect and only got cleared after Case 5? Was he in jail? Did anyone even care? Poor guy...

I really want to know what happened to the investigation of Mortar’s death after Case 3. And what would have happened if Megundal had lived? Would he have blamed some of the other 2 jurors? Who knows.
