Valentine (2001)
In today's review, I find that there may be more than love in the air, this Valentines Day. As I attempt a # positive review of the 2001 slasher film Valentine #DeniseRichards #DavidBoreanaz #MarleyShelton #JessicaCapshaw #JessicaCauffiel #KatherineHeigl
Valentines is a day for roses, chocolates, cards, and couples. If you feel alone, this can be seen as an alienating and consumerist practice, ready for an ironic scoff or a self-deprecating sulk just waiting for the 24 hours to elapse. For those people, horror-based entertainment may offer some ironic respite, especially with the stead slasher genre. In 2001, a film aimed to appeal to those who…

Sweet Home Indiana Part 1
Hello! And welcome to this fun little fusion that I came up with here. If anyone can find the post about gay legal troubles after gay marriage was legalized (I think was originally about polyamory divorces) let me know so I can link here, too.
Summary: Eddie is a successful tattoo artist in Seattle and is engaged to be married to Chrissy. Only there is one problem. Well, technically three. You see, back before the Supreme Court ruled that gay marriage was a right and not a privilege Eddie had gotten married in a couple of different states to different people. But now that's it's legal, he's a bigamist and he has to get his exes to divorce him. Which is easy enough for two of the three, not so much for the third. You see the third just isn't just any ex, it's the ex. Steve Harrington. So now he has to go down to Hawkins and try to convince the person he thought he was going to spend his life with to divorce him. Something much easier said then done, especially when Eddie finds himself falling back in love.
EDDIE IS GAY IN THIS BUT THERE ARE REASONS OKAY!
****
Eddie’s life was good. Let it be said that it was really good. He knew that. But he had regrets. Didn’t everyone?
He regretted how his band broke up. It wasn’t his fault, but he hadn’t seen the cracks when they had started to show. He hadn’t seen how tired Jeff was getting or how fucked Gareth was. He hadn’t seen that Brian was only phoning it in every night.
So when it all fell apart after a concert in Seattle, he was left holding the pieces of his band and his broken heart. He had gotten a job as a tattoo apprentice and had worked really hard to get his own chair.
He had friends. Good ones. Jeff had stayed in Seattle, too. Gareth had gone into rehab and had moved to a small village in the south of France. Brian had gotten married and moved back to Indiana where he became a teacher and lived a quiet life. The life he had always wanted.
Then there was Chrissy. He loved her so much. They had met when she came into the tattoo parlor to get a tattoo covered. She wanted to cover the name of her ex-boyfriend with a purple violet. Eddie had smiled at her when she asked.
It was some of his best work, if he was honest.
She was a legal assistant that had just gotten her paralegal degree and was trying to get a work visa.
She had come over to the USA from Barbados. A little island country in the Caribbean.
He didn’t know how she could stand living in damp Seattle after being born on sun-soaked shores under glistening palm trees. But Chrissy was adamant that she loved being in Washington where it rained almost all the time.
Eddie was on a mission. One that he had sworn to Chrissy that he would do today.
He walked into the county clerk’s office and applied for a marriage license for him and Chrissy.
“I’m sorry Mr. Munson,” the clerk told him, “but our records show that you have not one, not two but three marriages in three different states.”
Eddie’s eyes went wide.
“What?” He would remember that, surely.
“To a William Hargrove in Hawaii, a Thomas M. Hagan in New York, and Steven J. Harrington in Massachusetts,” the woman said, holding up her reading glasses in front of her face to read off the list.
“But those were only legal in the state they were preformed in, right?” he asked, furrowing his brow in confusion.
The woman shook her head. “Not since the Supreme Court ruled that it was legal for gays to get married. It’s cause a lot of trouble for a lot you people, let me tell you.”
Eddie knocked his knuckle on the counter and licked his lips. “Shit.”
She grimaced sympathetically. “I’m sorry, but before you can get a marriage license in the state of Washington, you’ll have to provide divorce decrees from all three of your exes.”
Eddie pounded on the counter this time with his open palm. “Thanks.”
He walked away and he heard her call out, “Next!”
Shit, shit, shit.
This was going to be hell, he could feel it.
****
Chrissy had fast food waiting for him when he got home from work.
“Did you get the license?” she asked, handing him his food and drink.
Eddie buried his head in his hands. “No, because stupid gay marriage legalization made all gay marriages legal, no matter what state you preformed them in.”
“Oh.”
She sat down hard. “So your three marriages suddenly count?”
“Yeah,” Eddie murmured. “I don’t even know where any of them are. Like I assume Steve’s still in Hawkins, because he’d never leave, but the other two? I have no fucking idea.”
She patted him on the shoulder and said, “We’ll find a way. The law firm has investigators on staff for this very reason. It might take a while, but we’ll find them.
Eddie nodded. “I’m sorry.”
She wrapped her arms around his neck and sat down on his lap. “I’m not. You didn’t know. Otherwise you would have taken care of it when Obergefell v. Hodges went through the Supreme Court.”
Eddie nodded, but he pursed his lips, his hands up around her waist to hold her steady.
“Let’s just eat and I’ll start work on it tomorrow,” she murmured. “Okay?”
“Mmk,” he muttered.
****
Three weeks later, Eddie had in hand two of the three annulments. Billy had sent his back with a little note that said, “With pleasure.” Tommy had merely sent his back without comment.
That was a relief. He was no longer bound to either of those two assholes. He wasn’t even sure what possessed him to marry them in the first place.
Well, okay. He did. He was far away from home, lonely and willing to connect with anyone who would fuck him.
He was getting ready to call Chrissy to her the good news when the phone rang under his hand.
Eddie frowned at it for a moment, before he picked it up.
“Hello?”
“Eddie? Eddie Munson?” the familiar voice sounded through the cell phone.
“This is he,” he replied, still confused.
“If you want to divorce me, you asshole,” Steve spat, “then have the fucking courage to tell me to my face.”
“Steve?” Eddie asked, his confusion still there, but for a different reason now. How did he get his number?
“Yeah,” Steve hissed. “Remember me? The man you left for fame and fortune? How is that going, by the way?”
Eddie gritted his teeth. “You know full well we broke up, I know Dustin still talks to you.”
He could hear Steve snap his fingers. “That’s right. You broke up. And until you tell me to my face you want to do the same, you take your annulment and shove it up your ass.”
“Stevie...” Eddie pleaded.
“Don’t ‘Stevie’ me,” Steve growled. “Fuck you.”
And the phone went dead then Eddie turned his phone around to see that yes, Steve had disconnected the call.
“Fuck.”
****
Eddie called Chrissy with the news. Two yeses and a ‘fuck you’.
“All right, Ed,” she said. “There is more to this than you’ve been telling me, so you are coming over to my apartment with the annulments you got and you are going to spill. Capeesh?”
“Yes, ma’am.”
“Good,” she huffed and then hung up.
Looked like today was hang up on Eddie day. He sat down at the table both annulments spread out in front of him and buried his head in his hands.
After a few minutes of allowing himself to break down, he picked up the papers and grabbed his keys, wallet, and cell phone.
Time to face the music.
****
Chrissy opened the door with a scowl, but softened when she saw how miserable Eddie looked.
He handed her the annulments and she put them her bag to take to work so that they could be filed with county clerk.
“Tell me about Steve Harrington.”
So Eddie did.
He told her about how they had bonded over a bunch of kids. Kids Steve had used to babysit, but once they got into high school came under Eddie’s wing as leader and DM of the D&D club called The Hellfire Club. How they had gotten together and when Massachusetts made it legal, him, Steve, Jeff, and Steve’s best friend Robin all drove out to Boston and Steve and he got married in a little court house.
“My Uncle Wayne was pissed he wasn’t there,” Eddie said. “But it was spur of the moment thing. We drove all night and got there that afternoon. We put on little suits and let the judge say his words.”
“That sounds sweet, so what happened?”
He let out a shuddering sigh. “Gareth graduated from high school and we got an offer to record an album in New York.”
“Why didn’t he go with you?” she asked gently.
Eddie rubbed his nose. “Because the kids still had two years left of school. He wanted to be there for them. A couple of them didn’t have good home lives and he wanted to make sure they had someone they could count on. We fought about it. Hard.”
“I’m sorry, cher,” she whispered giving his arm a squeeze.
“God,” Eddie said, his voice cracking. “The things we said to each other. It was bad, Chris.”
“And now he won’t sign the papers?” she asked.
He shook his head. “He told me the only way he’d sign anything is I came back to Hawkins and handed it to him myself.”
Chrissy nodded. “All right,” she said, “here’s what we’re going to do. I’m going to get a proper divorce degree written up, making sure it’s worded so he knows you won’t be going after any assets he has and then you are taking a week off of work and going down there and facing him. Because holy fucking hell, Ed, he deserves some kind of closure as do you.”
Eddie let out a heartbreaking sigh. “I don’t know if I can face him, Chris. God, I put everything else before him and broke his heart. He always wanted this big wedding. A beautiful reception where all our friends and loved ones were there. A beautiful grey morning jacket with a proper boutonniere and saying his vows across from the one he loved. And instead he got an empty court house and broken promises from a screw up like me.”
She wrapped her arms around him and let him sob into her shoulder.
“Which is why you need to go down there and give him that closure,” she murmured, “so that he can have all that with someone else. Someone who isn’t afraid.”
Eddie nodded. “Yeah, just let me know when it’s ready and I’ll take one of my vacation weeks to go to Hawkins, Indiana.”
Chrissy winced. “Maybe don’t sound like you’re going to your funeral, yeah?”
Eddie scoffed and rolled his eyes. As far as he was concerned he was going to a funeral. Maybe not his own, but the death of the first real relationship he ever had and if somehow he made it out alive, he was never going to be the same again.

Would the Survivors recognize Nicolas Cage?
So, I’m gonna put if the survivors gonna recognize Nic when he finally arrives to this hell
SURVIVORS / KILLLERS
YES/NO (if yes) Would they gush about it?
Dwight Fairfield: YES/NO | Dwight is you average white guy with average taste so of course he knows who’s Nicolas Cage is. He gushed, but not too much, from shyness and politeness.
Meg Thomas: YES/NO | She looks like she watches shitty movies with her mom whenever possible, so of course she knows who he is! She gushws, so much, like, she’s 10/10 an extrovert she made him sign so much leaves.
Claudette Morel: YES/NO | She knows who he is, has watch like, 2 and a half of his movies and knows more about his memes than him.
Jake Park: YES/NO | He knows who he is, but not being a huge movie person he doesn’t really care.
Nea Karlsson: YES/NO | She’s from 2021, she was a young delinquent and passed more on the streets that in front of a screen so she knows but she couldn’t give more of a fuck.
Laurie Strode: YES/NO | Her nightmare began in 1978, and the next few years because of her brother she could keep up with media.
Ace Visconti: YES/NO | HE KNOWS HIM and he knows how to fake his sign, he had got sooo much money with that scam! He of course asked for his autograph!
William "Bill" Overbeck: YES/NO | He was a veteran, bitter about the civy life, he heard his name once or twice but don’t really know him.
Feng Min: YES/NO | SHE RAN A FORUM FULL OF HIS MEMES! She was fan of his shitpost and asked him to reenact so much of her favorite dialogues!
David King: YES/NO | He knows who he is, has seen a few of his movies but doesn’t really care, so when he sees him he was like ‘yooo, no even celebrities are safe from this shithole’ and that’s all.
Quentin Smith: YES/NO | He knew the memes (the old ones) but after everything with Freddy and now being in the Entity realm he forgot about him.
Detective David Tapp: YES/NO | He saw like, two of his movies and that was all, his ex-wife was a fan but he doesn't really paid attention to mainstream media being a workaholic and all.
Kate Denson: YES/NO | She’s from the 60′ I don’t think Nic Cage was even born.
Adam Francis: YES/NO | He actually learn about him when the Nicolastick became famous in Japan, but nothing more.
Jeffrey "Jeff" Johansen: YES/NO | He watched a lot of his movies when he was around 18 or 19, and even if he’s not as much as a fan now he still gushed a little about him.
Jane Romero: YES/NO | SHE had meet him before, even drink with him, but since their circles weren't really comparable, they didn't keep contact, she welcomed him not differently from whoever else falls in this nightmare.
Ashley J. Williams: YES/NO | Everything went to shit in 1982 for him, jumping from age to age and trauma to trauma he doesn’t even know what year he was taken from.
Nancy Wheeler/Steve Harrington:  YES/NO | Being from the 80′s, and with all that went on with Eleven and the kids, they don’t know who he is.
Yui Kimura: YES/NO | She knows him because Hiro (her bff) is a fan of his movies and camped with him outside a store when they announced the Nicolasticks, she almost cried when she saw him because she was reminded of Hiro and how he was when she dissapeared and really couldn’t face him in a while.
Zarina Kassir: YES/NO | She know he exist, maybe saw... one? Two movies? But she’s not interested in fiction movies and being a workaholic didn’t let her much time to care about celebrities.
Cheryl Mason: YES/NO | Nope, no idea, no having time for teenhood and all that “vessel of a god and Silent Hill stuff” didn't give her much time to kept up with celebrities.
Felix Richter: YES/NO | He knows him, his tailor once told him they tailored a suit for him, but that’s all to be honest.
Élodie Rakoto: YES/NO | Knows, doesn’t care, she’s too busy trying to save her parents thank you very mucho.
Yun-Jin Lee: YES/NO | She knows who he is, doesn't really caring BUT since Ji-Woon was SO OBSESSED WITH HIM she actually tries to avoid him... And everyone else to be honest.
Jill Valentine: YES/NO | Even if Nic’s career started to be noticed in the 90′s she didn't have time to go to the cinema so maybe heard about him from strangers in the streets, but that’s all.
Leon Scott Kennedy: YES/NO | Goody-two-shoes freshly outa school rookie cop Leon sure didn’t have time (or actually care) about the upcoming actors.
Mikaela Reid: YES/NO | SHE KNOWS HIM, she went to a couple of comic cons to meet him and has an autograph from him, she gushes so much and actually gets hurt when he told her he didn't remember her.
Jonah Vasquez: YES/NO | His movies were what keeps him sane whenever he had a little bit of time for himself, he binge watched every-single-one, with beer and stale nachos.
Yoichi Asakawa: YES/NO | He has seen a couple of movies and were there when almost all of his student were late to class because they camped to try to buy a Nicolastick.
Haddie Kaur: YES/NO |Knows about him, has seen a couple of movies, knows a few memes, but that’s all, she’s busy, ok? That doesn't mean she didn't ask for an autograph...
Ada Wong: YES/NO |  Nope, Nicolas what? No idea, doesn’t care, doesn’t matter.
Rebecca Chambers: YES/NO | Even if she doesn't know who he is, she gushes about meeting a celebrity, especially the Entity’s Realm!
Vittorio Toscano: YES/NO | Dude’s older that dust, he doesn’t know what a photograph is.
Thalita Lyra: YES/NO | Knows him, watched movies with his brother and actually really likes one of his memes, asks for an autograph for her brother (but it’s actually for her)
Renato Lyra: YES/NO | Has watched every single one of his movies in an “ironic” way, actually likes a lot of them and stuttered welcoming him.
Gabriel Soma: YES/NO | Dude’s from 2098 after a war that made humans go to outer space, I don’t think he even knows what a movie is.

SOMETHING INFINITE • PART TWO P E R F E C T O N T H E S U R F A C E
part two of something infinite – you start your summer job at the library with your aunt only to find your new coworker is someone, an annoying someone, you’ve met before | ( 2k, angst, enemies to lovers, steve x you, steve x reader – find the rest of the series and more here and find the series playlist on spotify here )
J U N E 1 9 8 7 🎶 to be young ( is to be sad, is to be high ), ryan adams
“So its super easy, just reference the library ID numbers here on the spine with the section and author name and voila! Back on the shelf.”
Joyce was hunched over next to you as you stared at the rolling cart full of book returns.
“Okay, sure,” you nodded to yourself, turning one of the books over in your hands and looking at the little numbers printed on the label wrapped around the spine. Seemed easy enough? You’d probably find a way to mess it up though. “I’m gonna have like, a million questions,” you gave her an apologetic smile.
“Of course you will!” Joyce’s bright laugh made a few people look up in annoyance and she gave them a sheepish wave as if to say, sorry. "I’m just here at the desk if you need anything,” she half-whispered, then gave your arm a reassuring squeeze before turning back to her computer to leave you to it.
Sure, great, you sighed under your breath, fingers drumming on the stacks of books as you pushed the cart toward the non-fiction section.
The library was a lot quieter than you liked, uncomfortable and stuffy like when you used to go to church with your grandma on Sundays. Like you didn’t quite belong there. Like even just breathing annoyed the people browsing the shelves.
Glancing up to look out the long bank of windows on the other side of the aisle, you could tell it was getting hotter by the minute. It was only 9am, but the summer sun was creeping higher in the dusty blue Indiana sky, promising popsicles and turquoise water and snuck beers once your shift was over. Strange as this new place was, you were settling in surprisingly well.
Will and Jonathan had been a little shy at first, but after a few days the three of you discovered what you’d been missing out on all those years away. Duran Duran screaming at you from the speakers in Jonathan’s room as you thumbed through his vinyl, helping Will come up with new creepy crawlies for his latest campaign storyline, and El. Well. El had quickly become a fast favorite.
She was younger than you, but only by a couple of years, and while she could be odd at times she was witty as hell and after a late night up eating cold pizza and watching The Thing it was like she’d always been a part of it all.
It was painfully obvious the three of them were incredibly close. You’d been afraid to fit in, but they welcomed you with open arms, and that included everyone else too.
Everyone else.
Eddie and Robin. Nancy and Mike. Max, Lucas, and Dustin. More than just neighbors. More than friends. Their found family. Their heart. Their everything. And as every Indiana sunset painted the sky cotton candy pink and soft peachy oranges you felt more and more like this was home.
“Hey, sweetie, sorry to interrupt. Do you think you could show Steve how this works?”
Joyce’s voice brought you hurtling back to the library and you blinked a few times, not quite registering what she’d asked. “Steve?” looking over your aunt’s shoulder you saw a familiar mopey boy poking and prodding at the books on the end of the aisle.
“Yeah, Harrington. A sweet boy, really, just–” she stumbled over her words unsure of how to describe him and instead settled on a small hand wave in his direction.
Steve. Of course his name was Steve.
Your heartbeat fluttered against your neck as you tried to maintain a neutral expression, but the irritation and anger from earlier in the week licked like a flame in your chest.
Shouldn’t you apologize?
“Yeah, sure,” you tried a smile, but it didn’t quite reach your eyes as your aunt beamed up at you.
“Wonderful! Steve, come on over, hon. It’s really easy. I’m sure you’ll catch on quick, but in case you have questions–” and she took your arm, dragging you front and center as the boy finally looked up and froze on the spot at the sight of you.
“You?” fell out of his mouth and a flush crept up his neck and across his cheeks as he realized how it had sounded.
“Oh! You know each other? That’s great! I’ll just leave you to it then. Thanks, sweetie,” Joyce gave your shoulder a squeeze and hurried back down the aisle to her desk leaving the two of you staring daggers at each other.
“Jesus Christ,” Steve muttered under his breath, huffing a laugh.
“Nope, just me,” you sniped, turning away to run your hands over your face. Unbelievable. Why in the hell did this guy have a job at the library?
“Real cute.”
When you finally felt like you could look at him without being a complete asshole you turned around to see him leaning lazily against the returns cart, fingers bumping across the book spines. Even the way he was standing irritated you. Like he owned the place. Like he no matter what you said he was going to do what he wanted.
“What are you doing here anyway?” came out and it surprised you almost as much as it did Steve, but he recovered from your words quickly and jammed his hands into the pockets of his shorts.
“None of your business. Now are you gonna show me how to–to do whatever the hell it is you do here or what?”
You scoffed, unable to do anything but stand there smiling incredulously for a minute. “Are you serious?” you finally asked, stalking forward a few steps. You wanted to be mad, wanted to shove two fingers into his chest, but you were close now. Close enough to catch spearmint gum and cedar, fresh laundry and boy. Close enough to catch his eyes all burnt caramel and warm honey and it was infuriating how your heart fluttered in your chest, like hummingbird trapped in a cage.
“Wha–yes?” he gave you a shitty look then loosed a sigh, “This is so stupid.” Pinching the bridge of his nose he shook his head and tried again, “Look, I don’t want be here, so the faster you show me how to put these dumb books away the faster I can leave.”
“Why is it always about you?” you felt heat rising in your chest, cheeks growing pink despite the air conditioner rumbling above you. Taking another step closer to him, your brows knitted together in anger, “What’s your problem?”
“My problem? You’re the one getting all bent out shape, princess,” the way he talked down to you was so casual, so practiced, and you snapped.
“Don’t call me that.”
It was Steve’s turn to take a step toward you. The toes of your shoes nearly touching.
“Oops, did I hit a nerve? Princess?”
“Okay. You can figure this shit out on your own,” your face burned as you dumped the books you'd been holding on the cart and stalked away, leaving Steve to stand stupidly between the shelves. You needed air, even if it was too hot and the Smack! your hands made on the cool metal push bar as you went out the side door was deafening against the quiet of the library.
“Hold up! Wait!”
Now he was following you? Did the boy have a death wish?
“I’m sorry, that wasn’t an invitation,” you snapped, rounding on him, hair wild and caught up in the thick, sticky summer air.
“I have to be here,” he flung his hands out at you, exasperated, the look on his face expectant, willing you to connect dots you didn’t know were there.
“To do what? Torture me?”
“God dammit,” Steve loosed a sigh, jamming his tongue into his cheek, as if talking to you was like pulling teeth.
“Why did you come out here–”
“I have to do this. The library. Community service. For…shit...that I did.”
Your anger flickered, dampened a bit, and your expression softened as you considered what he’d just said. Community service? What could Golden Boy have possibly done to get landed with community service?
“Can we please go back inside?” Steve practically begged, throwing a hand toward the door as tiny beads of sweat gathered along his forehead.
“You’re the one that followed me,” but you didn’t fight him on it and instead shouldered past him as he held the door open into the air conditioned building.
Steve grumbled something under his breath as he followed after you and you had half a mind to dig into him, but then he took your hand and everything went blank.
Something between you crackled, like fireworks on a hot July night, and your stomach flipped over. He pulled you past the bank of windows to a smaller, more private corner in the sci-fi section and when he let go of your hand your chest ached.
Clearing your throat you crossed your arms, tucking your hands away from him, and fixed him with a scowl trying your best to look peeved, “Spill.”
For a split second doubt flashed in his eyes, a chink in his armor exposed, but it was dashed away when he opened his mouth, “I tried to steal a car. Sheriff’s car. So, you know, not a great look.”
Your face did something funny to not give yourself away, all scrunched up in a muddled mixture of shock, amusement, and confusion, but Hawkins was small. Too small for more than one sheriff and the only sheriff you knew was Hop. As in Joyce and Hop. As in your aunt’s husband and a memory surfaced then of one of the first things to happen after you arrived.
Hop had been so angry and he’d moved so fast out the door he spilled his beer all over the living room carpet. You’d watched through the curtains as two boys ran from his rig for dear life into the trees behind the house, but one unlucky bastard got tackled there on the front lawn. Hop practically shoveled dirt into his mouth. It wasn’t the best angle so you couldn’t tell it'd been Steve, but he’d been tossed like a rag doll into the back of Hop’s Blazer and taken down to the station without a minute to spare.
“That was stupid,” maybe it was harsh, but it got a small grin from Steve and your stomach flipped over again.
“Yeah. Fifteen-hours-a-week-til-the-end-of-summer-stupid,” he said, rubbing the back of his neck, but he kept his eyes on yours and for a minute you thought maybe you didn’t hate him.
“There you are! Is everything okay?” Joyce startled both of you as she appeared out of nowhere, apparently a skill of hers.
“Yep! So great, I was just, you know uh–”
“–showing me the different sections!” Steve finished for you and you shot him a look of thanks or surprise or maybe both.
“Wonderful, well there’s someone wanting to open a new account and I thought it’d be good for you both to see,” her expression shifted slightly as she looked between the two of you, like she knew something you didn’t, but before you could say anything she was walking back to the front of the library. “Tacos okay for dinner?” she called over her shoulder as both you and Steve hurried to catch up, “Your cousins’ favorite.”
And Steve stopped right there in the middle of the aisle, mouth dropped open in a little ‘o’ as he looked at you. “Joyce is your aunt?” he hissed.
Cheeks flushed bright pink it was your turn in the hot seat and you didn’t say anything. Instead, you half-jogged after your aunt, leaving Steve behind with the books to put the pieces together.
