#adam does not make the connection that his missing fiance and shiro are the same person

My personal hc for Adam surviving is the fact that he has absolutely hideous burn scars and that he can barely remember anything. He remembers once having a fiancé and raising a young boy with said fiancé, he also remembers being a teacher and the MFEs a bit.

So when Shiro got back, he was really only distraught over the fact that Adam didn't seem to remember him. Shiro doesn't care about the scars, scars are just scars. Shiro has plenty of them, they might not be as bad as Adam's but he still has them. But Shiro simply pushed the fact that Adam now has a ton of scars to the back of his mind. He's solely focused on the fact that Adam doesn't remember him.

The worst part of it though is the fact that Adam will sometimes ask where his fiancé is. It destroys Shiro because Adam doesn't remember him but instead his presence. But Shiro doesn't say anything, the doctors were more qualified in that area. The doctors seem slightly awkward whenever Adam asks because they don't know what to say. Is it appropriate to tell Adam that his fiancé has been visiting everyday and is right next to him? Or would it be better to tell Adam that hid fiancé is gone due to the war since its partly true?

Either way, it wouldn't help much. Adam could hardly remember new information they give him, it seems to slip his mind in favor of holding onto old information. They're trying to figure out why Adam's brain works like this now but until they do, they tend to try and get Adam's attention onto something else. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
