↳ Adalfieri was a fairly easy going man, with the ability to make the best out of even the worst of situations. He simply ignored the bad parts of his own life, replacing them with good memories instead. He was incredibly intelligent, and constantly strived for more and more in terms of knowledge and experience.

The man’s moral code is awfully grey. There’s no real clear stance with him. He simply did what he thought is right, in any given moment— With absolute decision, and without regret. Whether that ends up hindering or helping others is lost on him.

Like his Parent— He had no real grasp on human emotions. He could neither identify them, or really feel them himself. It’s something that was always been curious to him, and something was always observing in the other servants, Giesbach, and even Karlheinz and Richter. Yet despite this lack of emotional intelligence, he was still someone that was a joy to be around. And someone that his friends were able to, and comfortable with, confiding in.

He would often seem indifferent, or perhaps maybe a bit antagonist towards Giesbach. A completely primal reaction to the man, that he never really understood. When spoken to, the passive aggressive tone was clear, paired with an antagonising smile. Yet towards everyone else— He seemed to be as bright as day. Truly a confusing, mysterious, and dangerous individual.

in a previous rp you did, richter said ‘his face’ to gwen. whats that about if gwen and richter’s childhood friend dont look the same?

🔹 answering both of these together 😌🔹

🔹 to answer the first anon though, richter didn’t say that in terms of ‘oh your face looks like his’ but rather a ‘that face was never yours to begin with.’ basically insinuating that gwen’s whole purpose is to be a gateway for his friend to live again, and that’s one of the only reasons he puts up with them. yeah, man refuses to believe that he gets along with gwen, and only believes he gets along with the person inside gwen. stubborn mf fr 🙄 🔹

🔹 for the second anon, if you IGNORE THE FACT that i’m sleepy and did a whole bunch of copy and paste, gwen and adalfieri are really just a ‘same shape different font’ sorts deal. I’d say it’s like looking at a father & son whether than a clone of the same person— but thats just because gwen ‘failed’ to be a completely reincarnation of adalfieri 🤷 and now karl and richter are angry about it. Gwen’s really just ‘tf this gotta do w me—‘

ANYWAY! to point out some notable differences:

➝ Adalfieri’s face has a more elvish shape. Its longer, more ‘pointed,’ and he has elven ears. If I has REMEMBERED TO ADD THEM— I would have given him golden freckles. Because he has those and they look like lil stars.

➝ Adding onto that— The tips of his hands, parts of his chest and back, and cheeks are all grey/black in colour, with golden freckles on them. His father was a mixture of dark & light elves, so he inherited those traits.

➝ Adalfieri’s curls are a lot tighter than Gwen’s, so he styles his hair differently. Plus, it was longer.

➝ Gwen’s eyelashes AND eyes are two different colours. Yeah, that wasn’t some funky trick with mascara, their eyelashes were always different 😌. But for a long time they wore white mascara for them to match.

➝ Their different heights and sound differently! Adalfieri is taller, and his voice is a lot raspier than Gwen’s.

Since i’m literally RAMBLING I’ll end it here. To put it bluntly, Gwen is just a ‘new version of something from the past’ rather than a ‘rebirth of someone’s soul.’ They still share all of Adalfieri’s memories, and have reactions to his name, photos of him, etc… But they are two different people.

Adalfieri ( アダルフィアーリー • Adalfieri ) was the child of Angelo, the former Elven and Demon king, and Armani, the former leader of the Æsir.

❧ APPEARANCE

❧ PERSONALITY

Adalfieri had a cheerful, and optimistic personality, though not one that paved the gateway for naivety. He longed for adventure, and took joy in learning new things. He made friends pretty easily, with their joyous and contagious smile. He looked past whatever harsh treatments Giesbach put him through, and instead looked for ways to make it less harmful. He looked for the good in every situation, and had both the knowledge and willpower to make it work. He often took up an ‘older brother’ or ‘mentor’ figure, when they met Richter and Karlheinz. Both tutoring and befriending the pair. Richter would describe him as ‘a rare beam of light, unable to be corrupted by darkness,’ and often thought that demons didn’t deserve such a person in their midst.

❧ HISTORY

Adalfieri was born shortly after the events of Ragnarök, and thus his body was still adjusting to the world rebuilding itself. It took him several centuries to even start ageing and growing. As a result, he never got to see his parents, since they died before he began to grow.

He grew up as normally as he could, cherishing short moments with the people he came across. Though, because of Angelo’s cause of death, and Armani’s own heritage, demons from all clans were after him— after all, in their eyes his father was the reason their beloved Demon King was taken from them. So they decided to take him as payment, completely unaware that this was their former king’s own son. And, not wanting to cause his current guardian more trouble than he already had, Adalfieri went with them blindly.

Instead of killing the boy, like most demons wanted to do, Giesbach decided to keep him around. As a servant, or in his words: ‘His own son.’ The man worked the boy to the bone, as if it was some cruel way of asserting dominance; like some way of proving that he was better than the previous king. Chores, paperwork, guard duty— Adalfieri hardly had any time for rest, or anything really. But as he did, he made the best of it. Taking in little observations of everyone around him; their body language, speech and fluctuation, how they interacted with others; he learned new things everywhere he went, whether they be big or small. That was enough to keep him going.

Eventually, two young souls came to the castle. They weren’t much younger than he was, the human equivalent was at most two or three years. One of them, one with white hair and eyes scarier than the devil’s, approached him first. The other, one who was younger and had eyes similar to his brother’s, approached shortly behind him— This one though, seemed a bit more hesitant. Like a shadow.

The two weren’t supposed to talk to him, as they were royals there with their Father. But for some odd reason, Adalfieri always found the two in his space— both of them even making time to sneak into the castle. Eventually, he started finishing all of his work early just to make time to entertain them. They were curious little souls, who despite the closeness in age, looked up to him like some sort of teacher. And that’s how it went for the next few hundred years. Adalfieri tutoring the two of them, and the both of them soaking up any information he decided to give.

Richter ended up growing closer to him than his brother, as somewhere along the way, Karl was seeking power in a way Adalfieri didn’t want to teach him. Their reasons for learning were too different, and thus they grew apart; though Richter, so desperate to be not equal, but better than his brother, clung to the older one like a leech. Not that Adalfieri minded, after all he thought of the two as friends.

Unfortunately for them, their time together didn’t last much longer. Giesbach found Karl to be getting too strong for his liking, and found that he’d learned of things that were sacred to the castle itself. Instead of letting the other take the blame, Adalfieri stepped in and took the blame for him; after all he was the one who agreed to tutor the both of them, so it should of been his responsibility to make sure Karl used what he learned appropriately. Adalfieri was executed on the count of treason, though his execution was kept private. Giesbach intended on making sure everyone forgot the boy ever existed, well everyone except for those two that is.

The spell used engulfed the kid’s body almost completely, causing mistletoe shaped scars to spiral out and all across his back. He didn’t last long before it was over, maybe a minute at most. The scene, though, had a large impact on the two who witnessed it. Richter, having lost one of the only people to acknowledge him as someone separate from his brother, as his own person. It affected him negatively. Karl, on the other hand, found amusement in the execution. Adalfieri had the potential to be the most powerful person to exist, but didn’t. Didn’t take the chance. So, Karl found enjoyment in pushing forward where the other would choose to stop, thus sending him down a path of power hunger and madness.

“That’s what family heads do, isn’t it? They’re the face of the family’s pride, so even in the hardest of times, they take up responsibility. Even if I didn’t want the position, I didn’t want to disappoint them either. Every one of them… Had put their faith in me. The option to decline was on the table, but who knew when I would get such an opportunity again? Achieve my goals, earn praise, as well as get stronger. I could do all of those at once…”

They paused, for a brief moment. A saddened look in their eye.

“Besides… It was my own choice to do so, so I can’t complain. I won’t blame my siblings, parents, or grandparents for something that was ultimately my choice. I’ve gained a lot of skills I could have never achieved, from living in a place like this; so I suppose it isn’t all bad.”

No amount of excuses could cover up the hopelessness they felt as they spoke. Perhaps their grandfather’s warning was correct— And they were taking on something too big too early. But even he could note the malicious look in the man’s eye— how contracted or not, he would have lured Gwen into his grasp. So they supposed their childish enthusiasm saved their family an extra burden.

🔷 Whin: Rio had done his best to stop them, truly. Sure he has no doubt they’ll complete it, but he despised the look Karl had in his eyes, as he was requesting a contract. Not only had the man all but waltzed into their home, but the look in his eye showed that he would do more than just barge in, if Gwen had refused.

So it wasn’t only just childish ambition and familial responsibility— But the subtle cue that refusing this man would have put their family in even more trouble than they could have handled. Gwen soon realised that when the analysed the way Karl had acted around them. He likely would’ve killed all of them, if he needed to.🔷

↳ Gwen is charming, young, individual with darker skin. Two toned hair, white on top, and black underneath, is short at the top; with the longer bits being styled into two long braids. Their face shape is rounded, and like the rest of them is quite feminine. Their eyes appear black, though in reality, they are pure white. Their left eye, if looked closed enough, has a sigil in the shape of Karlheinz’s crest. Though in order to cover their eyes, they wear black contacts, so people very rarely see their real eye colour. To top everything off: There is a light blue diamond at the centre of their forehead.

↳ Gwen’s eyes are normally a dark, lifeless black. and on that leaves them without any visible pupil thanks to the black contacts they wear. Eyes that could be quite unsettling. But in reality— They have pure white, blank irises. Without a pupil in sight.

Their eyes gain pink and gold, hypnotic rings, whenever they glow. Even smaller circles dawn those rings, creating the perfect gaze for manipulation. It’s a familial trait, that allows them to look directly into the souls of others, in order to pull out their deepest desires. Gwen’s gaze in particular though, is much, much stronger. These eyes are a clear sign of the Exicor bloodline.

On their left eye specifically, they have Karlheinz’s sigil engraved. It’s faint, but can be seen vividly when Gwen experiences intense emotions as a result of that man. Or when they are close to him. This is another reason why they cover their eyes, as to not garner any unwanted questions.

❆ ʜᴀɪʀ

Gwen has fluffier hair, that was originally pure white in colour. Though a few days after their eighteenth birthday, they cut it, and proceeded to dye it. It’s white on top, and black underneath. With the top being shorter, and the underside being a lot longer, to which Gwen then proceeds to style into two braids.

❆ ʙᴏᴅʏ

↳ Pear. Gwen has a pear body shape— With their hips being wider than their shoulders and bust. Their legs are also the strongest part of their body. And whilst they cannot build muscle to show for it, if you run your hand along their skin, you can feel just how toned all of their muscles are.

Despite their hard work though, they don’t have much appearance wise to show for it. Gaining very little muscle, and just barely gaining some tone. Their V-line is quite prominent though, as well as their colour bones. Their hands are slim, well taken care of, and with longer nails than you would expect. Their veins protrude sometimes, and their hands are smaller than the average person’s.

❆ ꜱᴄᴀʀꜱ/ʙɪʀᴛʜᴍᴀʀᴋꜱ

↳ Their largest ‘scar’ is on their back. The Nordic rune associated with the god Baldur— and its divination meaning fullness, reconciliation, and persuasion. Protruding outwards in twists and turns from this rune, are mistletoe vines. Symbolising both the legend of Baldur’s death, but also a mimickry of Adalfieri’s death. As they spiral around Gwen’s back, they never fully reach their neck— But specks of vine can be seen from the front, near their ribs.

↳ they have a black band-like necklace, with a musgravite gem attacked. the gem is held on a golden, embroidered, plate— that has the name ‘angelo’ engraved on the back. and whilst gwen doesn’t know what exactly it means, they guard it with their life, since their grandfather had given it to them.

the Tsukinamis, whilst not actively in search for it— began the chase once they had seen gwen. the jewellery was once used as a symbol of status, by each founding king. however, the actually owner of the jewellery was Adalfieri’s father, who tried to pass it down to his son; however it had fallen into Giesbach’s hands before that could happen.

the jewellery contains memories from Angelo’s days before his time as a demon. And one of the only few pieces of proof to confirm Ragnarök’s events.

➤ full name || real name || alias/nicknames

gwen viazzani. neither their first nor last name holds any real definition, but it is a name they chose for themselves. ‘gwen’ being a spin on the last syllable of ‘penguin.’ whilst viazzani is actually his grandmother’s maiden name— a common italian name shared by gwen’s extended family. this is the alias they’ve decided to go under after their time in Eden Castle ended. and, whilst the last name is similar, only richter and karl can pinpoint them as the king’s former advisor; no one else fully recognises them.

adalfieri exicor. their real name, and one they’ve chosen to abandon. adalfieri means ‘noble oath,’ and was given to them by their grandfather. though thanks to karl and richter recognising a tie with their late childhood friend, gwen has grown to resent that name. exicor takes laters from the latin words ‘excisus’ and ‘corruptus’. Excisus meaning ‘cut off’ or ‘exterminated,’ while Corruptus means ‘corrupted’ or ‘depraved.’ Gwen doesn’t resent the last name, actually it’s quite the opposite. Their proud of their lineage and name, though at the moment feel undeserving of it. If found out though, they certain won’t deny it, but rather embrace it.

Viazzani. Whilst working for Karl, Gwen never gave themselves a first name when introducing themselves. Instead they only went by a last name. Because of this, when they seemingly hopped off the face of the Earth, this is all people had to go on, and since have not been able to identify them again— even if the same person they used to work with is still walking around under their noses.

➤ Gwen, as viewed by Karlheinz, is ‘a broken vessel’ and according to him, ‘is not as powerful as they once were.’ While they don’t hold nearly as much magic power as he does at the moment, given his influence they share in his pursuit for knowledge.

➤ Gwen took some traits from Karlheinz , given that he was the prominent ‘parental figure’ in their life. But that doesn’t mean they necessarily act like him, even though most people who meet them might think that way.

➤ Whilst at first, Gwen seems to incredibly intelligent and manipulative, often manipulating others to do their bidding, or at the very least taking the fall for them. They often poke and prod at the weakest points of others, if only to drag out their ‘full potential.’ This is still the case, but doesn’t really scratch the surface. They’re actually very adventurous, and reckless. They’ll acknowledge the consequences of certain actions, but will often dive into the situation anyway, if only for the experience.

➤ As an artist, and assassin, they’re constantly looking for new inspiration. Be it through someone strong, who can prove to be their ‘muse’ in battle… Or someone who they feel they can paint one day.

➤ While Karlheinz is crueler to others, namely his sons, Gwen directs the same kind of harshness and punishment towards themselves. They view themselves as an anomaly, convincing themselves that there is no place in the Human or Demon worlds for them to belong. Thanks to this, they hold themselves to standards too high for even Karlheinz to reach, and believe that any mishap, no matter how big or small, is their fault. They are constantly thinking over and ‘revising’ their own actions, almost always giving themselves harsh punishments if they didn’t preform perfectly.

➤ One of their most prominent features is how full of life they seem to be— despite their actual views on living, and the childhood they had to endure. They’re quite sociable, even though they rarely give out information on themselves. They seem to blend into crowds easily, and are good at reading others.

|| Kid Years ||

➤ Gwen was taken in by Karlheinz at age six, with the man requesting the kid specifically. Given the nature of the Exicor family, Gwen couldn’t refuse, and thus their contract was formed; with Karlheinz’s sigil branding itself in Gwen’s left eye.

➤ Gwen was taken to Eden Castle, where they were to assimilate into Karl’s way of life. As soon as they entered the castle, they were subjected to the harshest treatments the man could think of, with his one excuse being ‘your full potential is most important.’

��� Given their age, they were still learning to read, write, and speak properly, though Karl paid this no mind. Instead forcibly speeding up their developmental processes. This will effect their learning and self image later in life.

➤ Karl instills fear into Gwen like no one else before. Creating such genuine fear of such basic aspects of life. The most prominent is the fear of sleep. Karl, along with some other test subjects in Eden Castle created a such nightmarish environment for Gwen, that now they forgo sleep entirely.

➤ The man took extra precaution to make Gwen’s developmental years as hellish as possible, so they’ll develop a dependence and fear for him. Believing they can’t survive without him, but also can’t survive with him.

|| Teen Years ||

➤ at age twelve, gwen was ‘presented’ to the political scene as Karl’s right hand. His own wave of controlled chaos as they weaved their way around politics. they had met Richter soon after, the man choosing to train Gwen for similar reasons as his brother—though the methods may have been different, Gwen would argue that Richter was more brutish than his brother. Richter may have also had a bit of outside influence, when choosing to train the kid.

➤ Richter was rigorous with his training, and while he didn’t voice his wishes, Gwen could tell that he was training them this way for a reason. It irked them, being put through such regiments with little to no chance to ask questions. It was like they were a weapon instead of a person.

➤ alongside training them, richter and gwen worked together as colleagues— with gwen’s position technically being above his. if asked to do paperwork for him though, they oblige simply because he’s older; as a thank you for training them.

➤ At some point during this time, nobles began becoming interested in the paintings scattered around Karl’s castle— since they were Gwen’s, he decided to exploit their talents for his own enjoyment, and an opportunity to add more people to his collection of pawns. thus, Gwen’s actually lost their love for the activity, and even the thought of painting is enough to make them shut down if someone isn’t there to distract them.

➤ while to almost everyone else, gwen appears to have ‘disappeared’, they’re still expected to complete all of their necessary paperwork. others find it strange, how their presence seems to be so prominent, yet not there at all.

➤ their main goal now though, is to make the most out of their last few years— whether they complete their contract or die. there’s still so many questions they have unanswered, and still so much room for them to grow. for now, they need to focus on tying up loose ends. they’ll end up encountering and people who will have a lasting impact on their life during this final stretch… be that for better or worse, they aren’t sure.

Ink Manipulation

Given their unique heritage, each member of the Exicor family was ‘blessed’ with a specific kind of ability. It reflects their interests and greatly influences their fighting style and personality.

Gwen’s reflects their insane passion for the arts, thus with enough training they’ve learned to wield ink in battle the same way they do paint on a canvas. On the downside though, they become weirdly… artistic, with their missions and jobs. An artistic mindset mixing with that of a killer isn’t exactly a great situation for the person on the receiving end.

➤ they pole dance! they found it a great way to work on their overall strength, and upper body strength specifically. as well as help them develop necessary skills for manoeuvring in mid air. gwen also just finds in to be a great pass time.

➤ Their favourite drink is tea with honey, despite how it messes with their stomach.

➤ Gwen is actually extremely self conscious about their Japanese, since they have an inherent southern accent. They suppress it for the most part, though they have let it slip once when yelling at Ayato.

➤ Gwen has trained in Antartica before! They even managed to befriend a penguin, whom they’ve since named ‘Pen.’ Unfortunately for Richter though, Pen didn’t take too kindly to him trying to take Gwen back to the castle.
