The bound fingerboard, painted “walnut” sunburst finish, and sunburst stained maple neck make for one of the most legendary resonator guitars. This vintage 1930 model features a hooks-on coverplate with 5 screws, vintage Geib chipboard case, and an extensive collection of Hawaiian sheet music and lesson notes from the period.⠀ ⠀ SETUP⠀ Freshly serviced by an experienced National luthier with a setup suited to both fingerstyle and slide playing with medium action. The neck has been reset to give the correct string break angle behind the bridge, and there is room to lower the saddle if you prefer ultra-low action. New frets and work on the fingerboard have taken care of the typical National maintenance requirements. The crumbling/missing fingerboard binding was replaced very cleanly with the correct type. Setup details:⠀ ⠀ High e action @ 12th fret = 6/64″⠀ Low E action @12th fret = 8/64″⠀ CONDITION & ORIGINALITY⠀ The biscuit and resonator cone are original and in great shape, and capable of producing classic blues tone. Original tuners function well. The only replaced part is the fingerboard binding and saddle, both done with correct materials. The history of the guitar is evident in the wear on the body and the neck. The body paint and neck finish are original with flaking and patina that make it truly one of a kind. A great sounding guitar for slide or fingerstyle.
