Monday, 9:30pm
When she opened the door, it took a second for him to focus properly on her features, everything a little blurry with panic, but when he finally did, Andrew almost choked on the breath he was holding. His eyes softened instantly at her, weak beyond explanation, wanting nothing more than to back her against the wall and make her moan for him. She looked like Flo, his Flo, but there was something even more irresistible about her now. The fullness of her lips, the way the satin fabric draped over her body and hugged her, her straight straw hair falling down her back so stark against her pale skin, the way she held herself. He felt his lip trembling, her sharp green eyes begging for his to meet them and when he did, he sighed audibly, then clutched his heart in a dramatic fashion as if he was aching over how good she looked.
“Bloody hell, love…” he moaned, “made me heart stop. Might actually be dead right now.”
“Woodland creatures don’t die, Andy” she laughed instantly, relieved that he had spoken first, his dramatics making her cheeks flush despite the makeup. But it wasn’t just that. She wanted him so badly that it was embarrassing. His hair was slightly more tamed, those luscious curls making him look like a tall cupid, his beard looked more neat now, his lips teasing her with their ever wild smirk. His whole body was tense.
“I mean it” he drawled, “You look, oh fuck, Flo… I, em, I don’t have any words.”
“When you think of some, let me know…” she grinned, stepping close to him to close the door behind her. With her this close to him again, his fingers twitched with a need to grab and hold her hips, to show her just how incredible she really did look.
“I’ll do my best…” he croaked, scratching his neck with his index finger to keep his hands occupied. He licked his lip slowly, not even sure of how long he could keep doing this to himself, her closeness agonizing, the aroma of her perfume hitting him so hard he almost lost his balance.
Flo was drinking him in too, wanting to press her hands and dig her nails into his chest, losing herself in the idea of having him at last, but then the door clicked behind her and they both flinched, broken out of their daze.
“We should go eat…” she said slowly, a fact rather than suggestion.
“Yes, y-yes” he nodded, knowing she was right, taking a step or two back from her so that he could offer his arm, “Let’s go then” she laughed quietly, but took it without second guessing, his little pat on her hand making her stomach flip.
Monday, 9:40pm
For the entire duration of their journey from the second floor to the restaurant, Flo and Andy were quiet, observing each other whenever the other wasn’t looking. But as they entered the restaurant, they were flooded with various scents from the kitchen, which momentarily replaced the hunger they had for each other.
“I am so hungry” Flo groaned, breaking the silence, squeezing Andrew’s arm whenever a waiter carried something delicious-looking past them, the steam rising from the dish wafting in their direction.
“You’re always hungry, love” he chuckled, as they headed further in.
The lady who greeted them was a middle-aged woman with a beaming smile and her blonde hair in a perm. She had a voice that sounded genuinely cheerful, not at all forced, and she looked up as they stopped before her.
“Hello, lovely couple” she sang, “You’re both looking wonderful tonight, do you have a booking?”
“Oh, we’re not a-” Flo began.
“Yes, we’re, em, only friends” Andrew nodded, cutting her off to reassure her that he knew. Flo turned and looked at him for longer than she should’ve, a thankful smile plastered on her face. She knew he was just trying to remind her that he was aware of his place and the gravity of their situation, but there was also something ridiculous about him referring to them as ‘only friends’ out loud.
“Oh, do forgive me” the woman responded and they both turned sharply back to her. “You just look so wonderful together.”
“We’re under my name” he coughed immediately, trying to diffuse the tension, “Byrne.”
She marched them to their table, their arms still linked, Flo swaying against his side comfortably. Their table was a quiet one by the window, with a perfect view of the city by night and in the distance they could both just about make out the hill they’d been sat on earlier that day. Andrew had requested this table specifically, wanting to compare the gorgeousness of the night skyline next to her, knowing that no view would ever compare - not that Flo had to know that. There was a candle lit in the centre, a pristine table cloth underneath it and more cutlery on one table than Flo had ever seen in her life. Andrew insisted on pulling out Flo’s chair himself and she thanked him for it with her eyes, completely melted by how soft he was in that moment.
“Jack will be over shortly with the menus, but can I get you both something to drink first?”
“A Malibu, please…” Flo and Andrew stated at the same time, sharing a knowing smile.
“Very well.”
Neither of them noticed the woman leave. Andrew was busy watching her fuss with her dress. Flo observed his hands smoothing over the white table cloth.
“I like your dress” he announced after a breathless moment.
“Thank you. I like your…” Flo looked up and searched for a word to sum it all up, how incredibly attracted she was to him right now. Then he tilted his head in expectation and she almost lost all her control over the way his neck stretched, “Uhm - I like your… face.”
“Thanks” a little giggle left his mouth.
Monday, 9:45pm
The waiter, Jack, arrived promptly, bringing with him two menus and their drinks. He was a similar age to the pair of them and had an air of youth in his kind eyes, a bronzed skin tone and his hair was styled perfectly. He was broad, with arms fighting against the fabric of his shirt and when he handed Flo her menu, he did a double take, obviously noticing her in a more than professional manner. Flo barely saw the lustful way Jack was looking at her but Andrew did, already willing to fight him for her attention. He coughed, then began speaking with lines from a rehearsed script.
“Good evening, my name is Jack and I’ll be serving you tonight. I’ll give you a bit of time to look over the menus and will be back in a little while to take your order. Please, let me know if there’s anything I can get you.” They both thanked him and with a subtle glare of warning from Andrew, then a polite smile from Flo, he shuffled away again.
“What are you, em, thinking?” Andrew asked almost immediately, his eyes wide with lust over the top of the leather bound menu.
“Oh, I can never decide” Flo sighed, tucking her hair behind her ear as she gnawed at her bottom lip, “I’ve got eyes bigger than my stomach.”
“Oh me too” Andrew replied, taking a sip from his Malibu and enjoying the relief of alcohol to soothe his building frustration, “But, when it comes to sugar I really can’t resist.”
“You’re a dessert person?” She asked, flicking her brows up. There was something so enjoyable about earning from each other, gathering new facts to store away for future reference.
“Oh, yes!” He exclaimed, licking his lips in excitement, “You are what you eat.”
“Hm?”
“Because… I’m incredibly sweet?”
Flo knotted her eyebrows together as she laughed, tipping her head back slightly then found her drink to take a sip, delighted by the taste.
“You’re such a dork.”
“Well, em, you didn’t disagree with me tho.”
Monday, 9:50pm
Jack returned to take their orders and Andrew found it even harder not to react at the way he gawked at Flo when she spoke. He was clearly nervous even talking to her, failing to get his first question out properly.
“What can I give - uh get you to start?”
“Soup, please….” Flo replied cheerily, her head still in the menu, looking up and blinking at the man, waiting for his next question.
“Yeah, me too. Whatever the lady’s having.”
“And then I’ll have the pasta, please. That penne sounds lovely!” Flo closed her menu, patted it with her hand then took another sip from her drink.
“And for you, sir?”
“For me.. em, steak, please, Jack. Medium-rare” Andrew handed his menu back and then Jack, was gone again.
Andrew looked at Flo, glass in hand stamped with her lipstick stain, staring out at the city with wide eyes. The light shone back at her and illuminated her face, the glow of her cheekbones making her seem ethereal and delicate.
“I think the waiter likes you… quite much…” Andrew laughed nervously. Flo shrugged dismissively, too focused on trying to make out shapes in the sky to respond, “He was staring at you, Flo” he continued, the outrageous jealousy lining his stomach failing to settle “…staring at you.”
“Okay, Andrew” she sighed, turning back to him, her features soft and calm. She had an air of being unfazed by it and Andrew’s insecurity told him he made a fool of himself by overreacting. He swallowed, his mouth dry and tried to keep himself from slamming his hand on the table by taking a huge gulp of his glass. He couldn’t help but be fixated on the fact that he couldn’t do anything about other guys looking at her. The truth of it killed him, but she simply wasn’t his to fight over.
Monday, 10:05pm
By the time their first course arrived, both Flo and Andy were ready for more drinks. Flo requested a large glass of moet and Andrew settled for something stronger, their smoothest whiskey. The soup was a pale green-yellow colour, styled with cream and a handful of croutons, topped with a flower as decoration. There was a selection of rolls and butter too and the scent of fresh bread made Flo roll her eyes in pleasure.
“Flowery food, em, well flowers are too pretty to be eaten” Andrew grumbled, picking the flower off between his finger and thumb and wiping it on his side plate.
“What’s wrong with flowers?” Flo chuckled, amused by how childish his actions were.
“I like flowers, but not as food”
“What flavor is it?” She asked, realizing she hadn’t even checked, lifting her soup spoon to her mouth hopefully.
“I have no idea, you’ve chosen it and I just copied you.”
“It tastes like broccoli” she nodded, licking her lips. Andrew took his own mouthful and nodded back in agreement. Flo watched him lick his lips as he brought his roll to them, chewing it with passion, “Have you ever bought flowers?” She asked in the next quiet moment, returning to the previous conversation out of curiosity.
“For a girl?”
“No for your mates…” she joked.
“Yes, I have. I have even handpicked few myself” he mumbled, eating between words. There was another pause. Flo ate, Andrew ate.
“Would you buy me flowers, Andrew?” She asked, a feeble attempt at flirting but one he picked up on straight away. Flo noticed how sheer his shirt was under the light above them, fixated on his chest rising and falling rapidly. He finished the droplets of his Malibu, raked a hand through his hair then replied.
“Naw, I’d grow them for you in my garden.”

March Catch-up
So I decided to make this blog after seeing someone elses that they were doing for pretty much the same thing (Thanks Baby Bahamut). Seeing as this is march now, I have lots of catching up to do. So, here’s what I’ve beaten so far;
January:
Mutant Mudds (3DS): This was a game that I’d picked up sometime in 2012, and then kind of forgot about. I think its been sitting on my 3DS ever since, and I’ve kept meaning to get back to it. This was its year I guess, and I decided to finally beat it to start the year. I started a new game aaaaaand...instantly remembered why I never beat it.
It just feels like so much nothing. The graphics are pretty meh, story might as well not exist, and the action isn’t really that fun, more frustrating. Especially near the end of the game, the controls really aren’t tight enough to support what it wants to do. Beat it and instantly deleted it. 3/10
West of Loathing (Switch): This was a real surprise. When I read that it was from the same guys who did Kingdom of Loathing, I thought it might be ok, but it could also just be try-hard random. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the humour was actually really clever, and the combat, while super basic, was pretty fun! I also couldn’t stop exploring and clicking on every little thing to see what it did. If I had any problems, it was that the ending was a little too abrupt, and that the combat difficulty tended to be all over the place at times. Great game, and I will definitely be playing the DLC at some point. 8/10
February:
Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap (GBA): Well, technically I played in on my 3DS, but its a GBA game so I’ll let it be. Anyways, what a fantastic little pocket zelda game! The world was pretty compact, but thanks to the kinstones I was always exploring, and the graphics, while being super cute, also kept things clear and easy to read. It’s pretty hard to know where to go, but with a ton of exploration even I managed to find my way to the next dungeon.
The equipment you find was super fun too; I didn’t realize that they had managed to get things like the deku leaf in a 2D zelda, and had lots of fun with it. Backtracking with them was great too, as re-exploring old areas always felt fresh. Definitely a must play if you haven’t already. 9/10
Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening (GBC): I already beat the original way back in the late 90′s, but I figured that the GBC version was different enough to call it a seperate game.
So this one definitely scratched a nostalgia itch, but it was kind of a mistake playing it after a more modern one. The items felt a little more basic, the movement a little more stilted. Still a great game, but definitely aged just a bit. And the colour dungeon was really basic, didn’t feel like much of a challenge. Again, still worth playing, but without the nostalgia glasses, its aged. 7/10
March:
Sonic Forces (PS4): So I know that this is a “bad” sonic game according to the mainstream, and I can totally see why (homing attacks barely work, kind of a dumb story, etc etc) but for some weird reason I actually kind of enjoyed the levels...so much so that I think I’ll go for that crazy grindy platinum! (Tho whoever thought of a trophy for getting 100,000 rings, I will find you and punch you). Theres just something fun about the missions, and again some of the levels I really enjoy. And the avatar dress-up (despite sounding dumb at first) is actually pretty great once you unlock a bunch of the clothing options.
A solid 6/10
Pokemon Shield (Switch): Okaaay, so this one is controversial. Maybe its just me being a pokemon fanboy, but I still really liked this entry. Sure it was really easy (mostly), but the things I love about the pokemon franchise were still here. Sure most of the monsters aren’t, but they are coming, and since I’m more interested in the competitive meta than the story, its kind of refreshing.
See, in past gens, the same pokemon have been on top forever (for the most part), and then you have the same pokemon that deal with them well, and before you know it, all the competitive tiers (shoutout to smogon) look the same as the past gen, and I’m already bored. Here, its a chance to remake them fresh, and I’ve been loving it. As well, they’ve made it WAY easier to train up competitive pokemon. I already have a team ready to go, and it didn’t take me a whole month to do it!
All in all, very happy with this entry, and can’t wait to see whats in the expansions. 8/10
APE OUT (PC): Guess this is the arbitrary “Arty” entry eh? So basically you are an ape that is breaking out of various places, and you attack by grabbing and throwing people at walls or each other. When you do, they die in a really satisfying explosion of blood. The really cool part of the whole thing is that its all set to a drum solo that encompasses the sound effects and everything. When you just start a level, its really quiet, but as the carnage starts, the beat picks up organically and you can really get into it! And the art style is so clean and simple, yet very artistic. Just a neat game all around!
After reading this, it sounds great, right? Well, there are a couple things that actually made this one kind of hard to finish. See, the game is super satisfying, until you’ve died a million times from something you had no control over; A couple examples are getting sniped from way off screen, or RNG making 6 super tough enemies appear in a room you just ran into, meaning instadeath. Also, the graphics are really cool, but some effects make it super hard to see what was going on, 5/10
What’s Next?
Right now, I’m just working on the platinum for Sonic, but next month I think I feel like playing the Full Throttle remake. Once I’ve beaten something, Ill be sure to make a post about it! Thanks for reading!

Black Market Wonderland (Chapter Six): A messy brain, I’m not okay
Notes: As always, thanks for the continuous support of this story. There has even been people doing fan art of Tsuneko which blows my mind. This was another chapter I struggled with, I’m still unsure when writing Rhion. But, I love him enough to try.
Word Count: 5,499
Warnings: Nightmare, Suicide (within nightmare) and another panic attack for good measure. I feel like Tsuneko has a lot of panic attacks but given her situation, I feel it’s justified.
Missed the last chapter? Link Here!
Tsuneko’s dorm kitchenette is filled with savory and sweet scents; she puts the finishing touch on the final dish with a low hum. She packs it all away in containers, it will be a pain carrying all of the dishes, but she’ll have to manage. It’s odd how excited she is about this, after dealing with Ichinomiya and Oh, visiting Wonderland feels like a vacation. For all his eccentricities, the Hatter has by far been the kindest of the men involved with the auctions. The only one who can even compare is Baba, but his kindness comes with incessant and nauseating attempts to flirt.
There are a few blotches of stuff on her apron and she hopes it doesn’t stain, ironic given what it is, but she can’t help it. She tosses it in the hamper and throws on a jacket; she already changed into more casual clothes the second she was back from the boutique. She feels so much better in her own clothes, her hair done a way she likes, and she even put in her tongue ring. It was something reckless she did a few years ago in college, she rarely gets to wear it anymore with her job, but it feels nice to have it back in place.
She gathers the food, balancing it all in her arms as she heads out. Tsuneko has to cut through the lobby to head towards Wonderland. She feels a little out of place, she’s basically only here if she’s working, so wearing her casual clothes in the lobby is a new experience.
“Tsuneko! A familiar and accented voice rings out, every muscle in her body tenses as Mr. Bucci comes over.
“Hello, Mr. Bucci, it’s a pleasure to see you again.” She’s careful as she speaks, aware of the possibility of showing her tongue ring. As much as she likes fucking over Ichinomiya looking like some sort of delinquent in front of his potential work partner feels like a step too far.
“I thought you were spending the day with Carolina and them?”
“I was with them earlier, but I had to leave, I’m on my way to drop off some food actually.”
“You cook?”
“A little, actually,” she manages to open the top container, “do you want a piece of cherry almond bread?’
The older man guffaws at her struggling to get a piece out, she’s hoping the sweet can soothe any bad impression she’s made.
“Thank you very much,” he takes a bite, “there’s nothing better than home cooking, I swear.”
“I’m so glad you like it, I’ll have you cook something just for you while you’re here.”
“Sounds like a plan, I’ll be looking forward to it then.”
Tsuneko waves him off and sighs once he’s out of hearing distance, he’s definitely easier to contend with than his daughter, but she’d still hate to upset him. Not only is he important for Ichinomiya’s work, but she really doesn’t want to make enemies with the Italian mafia. Doesn’t sound like a good time to her. She takes the stairs down to the Hatter’s tea room and knocks on the door.
“It’s Tsune- Alice.”
“Come in! Come in!”
Tsuneko steps into the room and no less surreal than it was the first time, she’s not sure she could ever get used to this. This time the table is already set, the decorations from last time are still out, and the costumed men are already at the table.
“We’ve all been waiting; I’ve been so excited I could barely set the table.”
“Don’t get ahead of yourself, now,” she tells him as she sets everything out, “do you mind pouring the tea?”
The scent of Assam tea mingles with the smells of the food she’s made; Yorkshire pudding with roast, gravy and vegetables. Along with the lemon chiffon pie he requested as a dessert, she made cherry almond bread. He seems to have a taste for sweet fruity things; the lemon chiffon pie and raspberry sauce both coming to mind. The Hatter’s eyes are trained on her as she plates the main course; she tried to make a lot since the March Hare and Dormouse are here as well.
“You seem to be in high spirits today, Alice.”
“Do I?”
“You do.”
“I had a lot of fun cooking for you, plus I’d rather be here than with any of the penthouse guys any day.” she answers with a shrug.
“Ahh, you’ll make my heart fly out of my chest, saying things like that.”
“Pfft, sure, I just hope you like everything I made.”
“It smells so delicious; I might drift off to sleep.” The Hatter closes his eyes and takes a deep inhale.
“I swear to god, if you fall asleep before you even try any of this, I’ll be shoving it down your throat.”
“Ah! How scary!” He jolts up in his seat with wide eyes and she can’t help but snicker.
“Here you go,” she places a plate in front of the Hatter and the two pseudo-furries, other than initial greetings the two have never spoken. If they’re the people the Mad Hatter is always with, he must get lonely, doesn’t he? She shakes off the thought and takes her seat.
“Yes, this is it! Look how the middle is sunken in, isn’t it lovely! ~”
“I just hope it tastes good.” She tried them before hand, but just because they taste good to her doesn’t mean they’ll meet his standard, since he actually knows how they’re supposed to taste.
“Let’s have a taste, Alice,” her leg bounces with nervous energy as the Hatter takes a bite, “mmm, it’s delicious, both the texture and flavor is perfection! ~”
“Yes,” she pumps her fist, “I’m so happy you like them!”
Her nerves relax and she takes a big bite out of her own Yorkshire pudding, the soft texture of the bread mixed with the flavor of the gravy brightens her smile even more.
“How is it?”
“It’s really soft and delicious.”
“Yes, I’m so glad you like them, Alice! ~”
“I’m happy they turned out well, I was really worried when you first asked me to make them. I had no idea what they were.”
“Really? What did you think it was?” He tilts his head to the side, his oversized hat nearly falling off from the movement.
“Uhhhh,” heat floods her cheeks and she stares at her plate, “like dessert pudding, possibly…shaped like a dog…like the terriers.”
“Pfffft, hahahaha!”
A peal of laughter escapes his painted lips and she buries her head in her hands, her skin feels like it’s on fire.
“Hey! Don’t laugh at me!”
“You say the most interesting things, Alice! ~,” he takes a bite of the roast beef, “mmm, the roast beef is perfectly cooked and the gravy is robust and flavorful!”
“You’re too nice.”
“It’s a lovely dinner, the roast beef is sliced so perfectly thin. If it’s cut too thick, it wouldn’t make for a good sandwich later. Ah, isn’t it a wonder how such a delicious meal can be made from such simple ingredients?”
“It really is. I thought it would be a lot more complicated.”
“Flour, eggs, and milk, that’s all the batter is, it’s like it’s transformed by magic!”
Tsuneko’s face is red through the entire meal, as laves compliment after compliment on her cooking. Every bite of food is accompanied by a noise of pleasure and a poetic gushing of how much he loves it. He cleans his plate of the main dish before digging into the cherry almond bread.
“Mmmm, the tart cherries and sweet bread are a lovely a combination! ~”
It’s gone in moments and she’s licking crumbs off her fingers, as the Hatter begins to dig into the lemon chiffon pie. She can’t get over how childlike all his actions seem to be, excitedly digging into every dish with an impossibly wide smile.
“The ephemeral meringue reminds me of a night blooming cactus as it melts instantly in my mouth. The sweet and sour lemon cream gives life to my very heart! ~”
“I’m pretty sure if your heart was pumping lemon cream, you’d die.”
“And I’m pretty sure you can’t make pudding into the shape of a dog,” he teases with a soft smile.
“Shut up.”
She pouts and takes a sip of tea, once the food is gone the March Hare and Dormouse take their leave, not long after a familiar fluff ball comes walking in.
“Oh, Cheshire, how are you today?”
The Hatter greets the oversized cat as she tries to jump into a seat, but she has trouble lifting herself. Tsuneko puts her hand under Cheshire’s back feet and gives her a lift up.
“Back from your nightly walk, are you?” Cheshire mews back at the Hatter’s question, “Oh? That’s wonderful. That’s the best part of taking a walk, isn’t it?”
“What did Cheshire say?” Tsuneko raises an eyebrow, humoring the Hatter’s attempt to be Dr. Doolittle.
“She was watching a beautiful butterfly fall asleep and felt the night breeze caress her cheeks.”
“Sounds like a lovely time, are you hungry?”
Tsuneko gets a little piece of roast beef, letting Cheshire eat it from her hand. Once she’s cleaned her hand, she starts scratching her ear, the cat leaning into the touch and purring.
“I think Cheshire has gained some weight.”
“It’s fine, she wears it well, want me to brush her fur out?”
The Hatter smiles brightly and brings her a brush. She begins stroking it through the cat’s fur; the silky fluff is relaxing to pet through. Cheshire curls up in her lap, purring with every brush and pet against her fur.
“Hey, I’ve been meaning to ask you something, about the auctions,” Tsuneko brings up, scratching under Cheshire’s chin.
“Hmm, what could that be?”
Tsuneko’s mouth dries out, thoughts of that stage, that night. This isn’t stage fright, she knows that. She’s never been afraid of speaking to crowds, but any advice or help from someone who steps onto that stage regularly is welcomed. She clicks her tongue ring against the roof of her mouth, fidgeting with Cheshire’s fur.
“Do you…ever get…nervous getting on stage?”
His head tilts curiously to the side, his hat once again threatening to topple over. He chews on his painted bottom lip and his face wrinkles in concentration.
“Are you nervous about it?”
“Uh….maybe, just a bit.”
“Why would the stage make you nervous?”
“Y’know, being stared at...and gunk…” She supposes severe trauma from being sold like a literal object can be safely tucked into the ‘gunk’ category.
"You worry about the silliest things," he waves his hand like it'll make her fear disappear, "you'll do wonderfully!"
Despite the chipper tone, not a single word that came out of his mouth was helpful. She sighs, she’s not sure what she expected, the Hatter is eccentric at best and completely detached from reality at worse, why would he be able to help her?
“’Preciate it,” she teeters back in her chair with her feet on the table and Cheshire still in her lap, “so, you grew up in England?”
His smile drops and every muscle in his body tenses, like she’s thrown cold water on him. She plays with the ring in her tongue, nervously pushing it up and down. She’s never seen him like this, like her one little question has sent his world crashing down.
“The place where I grew up…yes.”
“You said the Yorkshire pudding was from your home country, so I was curious…”
“The place where I grew up, it’s a place where there are beautiful roses…”
His eyes soften when he mentions the roses and Tsuneko finds her own wandering to the walls of Wonderland. Roses are painted over them, what she once assumed was just another reference to his favorite fairy tale has taken on a new meaning. Clearly, he has conflicted feelings about where he came from, but the roses seem to be a pleasant memory for him. There’s a pang in her heart, as strange as he is, he’s a kind person and seeing him hurt for even a second hurts her.
“That must be nice, roses are really beautiful.”
“They are,” he’s beaming again, “being surrounded by beautiful things is the best. That’s why Wonderland is so incredible. The clear sky, the lush garden, a wonderful table at which to have parties, roses, and-oh, I know there’s something I haven’t shown you yet, Alice!”
He’s gesturing flamboyantly as he rushes towards the wall, Cheshire hops out of her lap to start sniffing around the room. Tsuneko idly picks at the fur left on her shorts and tights while she waits for the Hatter’s new surprise. She hears the click of a switch and her breath catches in her throat.
The ceiling has shifted, no longer showing an evening sky, it’s now pitch black with gleaming stars. It looks so real, she knows it’s not, but she can see the starlight shining against the velvet black. It almost feels like she’s back home, sitting on her roof and stargazing again.
“Whoa, they look so real.”
“They are real stars in Wonderland.”
“It reminds me of when I was little,” Tsuneko can’t help but say, maybe because he talked a bit about his past, she feels like she should share her own.
“Really?”
“Yeah, it was a small place so you could see the stars really well. I use to always climb up to the roof of our house to see them. My dad kept telling me I was gonna fall and break my neck, he would worry over the stupidest shit.”
“Did you ever fall?”
“Yeah, but I broke my arm, so,” she shrugs her shoulders, “won that one.”
The Hatter laughs and she finds herself joining it, cracking up at her own dumb ass.
“You have a way at looking at the bright side, I suppose,” The Hatter manages to say as his giggles die down.
“Hmmm, more like just spiteful enough to say I won no matter what, but spin it however you want,” she pauses for a moment, “you want to like properly stargaze?”
“Properly stargaze?”
She smiles at the way his head tilts again; she wonders what he looks like beneath the makeup. His behaviors alone are too cute; does he have a cute face to match? Wait, what is she thinking? He’s an auctioneer who helped sell her, no matter how kind or cute he may or may not be, she can’t forget that.
“Yeah,” she shakes off the odd thought, “when there are stargazing event people will get blankets and lay out on the ground to watch them.”
“Oh,” his eyes are bright and wide, “that sounds like fun, let's do that!”
“Okay, help me move the table so we can lie down.”
She hooks her fingers under one side of the table and the Hatter’s eyebrows furrow, but follows suit in getting his hand on the other side. He’s biting his lip, is he worried about something?
“Count of three lift it up with me okay; one, two, three!”
She lifts and realizes why he was worried; she’s definitely lifting the brunt of the table’s weight. His arms are trembling from what he’s holding up, he’s not very strong. She finds herself smiling as she guide him to helping her move the table further off to the side, that must be why he needs the furry guys to move stuff. They put down the table once it’s far enough to the side and he’s letting out soft huffs of air, little beads of sweat make his makeup run a bit. It wasn’t that heavy, next time she could probably lift it alone.
“Do you have any extra blankets?”
“Uh, um, in the closet.” He points her in a direction; he’s too winded to be dramatic about it.
She’s smiling as she rummages, finding the biggest softest blanket she can. It falls across the center of the room with a soft noise, big enough for two and a cat. Tsuneko falls back against the blanket with all the grace of a boulder, stretching her arms and legs out to feel the soft fabric beneath her.
The Hatter follows suit, falling in place beside her. She can feel the warmth of his presence next to her, the fabric of his costume brushing against her, his limbs tangled with her own in the places where their sprawled bodies overlap and the way any semblance of personal space has been abandoned.
It’s not uncomfortable though, it should be but it isn’t. This kind of thing usually makes her want to scream and run away. Blurring of boundaries and sharing stories of the past, things that normally put a pit in her stomach feel fine here with him. Why? She’s never told Sakiko or Chisato a thing about her past, not even little anecdotes and she usually doesn’t let them too close, a casual touch here and there too. But, she’s never been able to relax like this, just letting someone be in her space.
Her eyes drift from the artificial stars to the man beside her, eyes narrowing as she tries to crack this code. His hat fell off, the teal hair color must be wash out, and she can see black patches of hair starting to peek through. The white face paint around his neck and forehead has started to rub off, little patches of regular fair skin beneath. She wants to fix it, retouch up his hair and makeup for him. She’s so accustomed to his over the top fake appearance, seeing even glimmers of the person beneath it is making her a little uncomfortable.
It’s because he’s fake.
The realization of it hits her. That’s why this is okay, why she can tell him about falling off the roof and can let him into her space, he’s not real. He is, but he isn’t. Sakiko and Chisato are real people they’re opinions, judgments, and actions have an impact on her. If they know the dumb shit she’s done or see her vulnerable, they’re judgment would hurt so much, because it’ll mean something.
The Hatter is fake, he may exist, but everything about him feels fake. It’s not like talking to a real person; she’s talking to a character, someone whose existence only impacts Wonderland. Everything about him is so far detached from reality, even Wonderland feels like she’s stepped into another world; it feels like nothing here matters. Like saying things to an imaginary friend or Kiyo. It means nothing, so why bother with boundaries? But, the Hatter exists and can give some sort of proper response. He’s not real enough, not enough of a person for her hang ups to matter, but enough of a person that it doesn’t feel like she’s talking to herself.
He falls into this uncanny valley of existence and it brings her a sense of comfort. There’s someone she can tell stupid things too, someone who can hear her, but not impact her. He’s a step up from talking into the void, but still a step down from talking to people. She can relax and have no fear with him, something she thought she could only do alone.
“Do I have something on my face Alice?”
“Huh, ah no, hey, you want to hear something stupid that happened after I broke my arm?” She stares back at the sky as she changes the topic.
“What’s that?”
“A couple days after a kid at school was annoying me, but I couldn’t punch him because of my arm. I was so upset I couldn’t fight because of my cast, I went home and tried to cut it off with a handsaw.”
“What!?” he slaps a hand over his mouth as he laughs.”
“My dad caught me before I broke through it all and had to take me to get it redone; I was so upset I didn’t talk to him for a whole day.”
“I never imagined my Alice was such a violent child,” he teases.
“You have no idea, I was a garbage kid. Like bad seed, demon spawn type shit. My parents would have had better luck raising a rabid dog, I swear.”
“You couldn’t have been that bad.”
“You want to bet? I swear every kid and their parents hated me. One time, a kid’s mom brought in cupcakes I didn’t like, so I pushed him off the jungle gym. Who does that!?”
“Alice, that’s awful!”
“I know, I was the worst, I’m not sure how my folks put up with me.”
“Lots of patience, I’m sure.”
“I think my dad still has a scar from when I bit him for telling me to go to bed.”
“You’re starting to sound more like the jabberwock than my Alice.”
“I can see that, I might be a jabberwock in disguise, you never know.”
“I’d still be happy to have you, even as a jabberwock. I’d adore you, claws and all.”
“You’re too sweet-oof,” the wind is knocked out of her as Cheshire hops onto her chest, “well, hello to you too.”
“What’s that Cheshire? Hmmm, you’d love Alice as a jabberwock too, guess we’re in agreement.”
“Awww, is that true sweetie?” She scratches over the cat’s fur, feeling Cheshire lean into her touch and purr.
“She means every word of it, no matter what she’d adore you.”
Heat flood Tsuneko’s cheeks, he’s really too nice to her, even knowing he helped sell her she can’t help thinking how nice he is.
“Hey, there’s even constellations up there,” Tsuneko points up at the projected night sky, “I’m pretty sure that’s Capricorn.”
“Do you know the constellations Alice?”
“A few of them, not a lot though, there was a girl in my class who could find and name them all in a second.”
There’s a pang in her heart, guilt eating at her when she thinks about that girl, but she swallows it down like bile and pushes those thoughts from her mind. She wants to be happy right now, in this little piece of Wonderland completely divorced from reality and in front of this odd man who seems to only exist here, she wants to be happy.
“Hmm, I’m afraid I don’t know any of them, Alice.”
“I only learned a few from other people; if I’m being honest they don’t mean anything to me. It all looks like random dots to me, the stories are interesting though.”
“Did you get invited out a lot, Alice?”
“Uhhh, invite isn’t really the right word, I just kind of showed up, whether anyone wanted me there or not. They’re fun though, have you ever been to anything like that?”
“Huh!? Uh, I can’t remember clearly, I’ve been in Wonderland for the past four years, so…”
“You haven’t been outside in four years?”
“Huh? Of course not,” his voice trembles and his eyes widen, “are you suggesting I go above ground, your jokes are too much Alice.”
“Hmm, okay, I understand.”
She’s not sure she does fully, but she can tell he must not want to push the issue. Maybe he’s agoraphobic? Why wouldn’t he ever want to leave, he’s even more cut off from reality then she realized. Does he have a family? Do they know what he does?
Does she want to know?
If she knew about those things, he’d be more human. If he’s more human, would she still feel so safe being like this with him? Would this new-found sense of comfort, a strange almost friendship, be ruined once he’s real?
Her eyelids are heavy and she can’t help yawning. How late is it? She checks the time on her phone, it’s past two am, how did time pass by so quickly?
“Are you tired Alice?” The Hatter asks with a soft voice, it feels like a lullaby to her sleepy brain.
Even in Wonderland, completely separate from reality, she’s not going to sleep in front of someone. The most she’s ever allowed is the occasional dozing off at hair salon, but those are never deep or enough for dream, just resting her eyes before she’s told to move. If she allows herself to sleep here, it’ll be a deep dreamy sleep. She’ll have a nightmare and scare him, or worse. There’s no place far enough from reality for her to allow herself to be that vulnerable.
“Yeah, I have to get headed home.” She pulls herself up to her feet and the hatter follows suit.
“Oh…you know, you could sleep here.”
“Uh, no, I couldn’t intrude like that.”
“It wouldn’t be intruding; I…have a room you can use.”
“Huh, you do?”
“I do and it might not be safe for you to walk alone so late.”
“My dorm is like five minutes away.”
His eyes focus on the floor and he pouts.
“I don’t want you to leave.”
His voice is soft and timid; he looks like a lost puppy dog. If he has another bedroom, there are a couple of doors around Wonderland, then she wouldn’t be near him while she was sleeping. So, it wouldn’t be an issue.
“Alright, where’s the spare room?”
“Oh! Yes! It’s right this way! ~”
He’s back to excited child status and all but skips towards one of the doors. She trails after him, movements sluggish with exhaustion. The Hatter opens the door like he’s revealing the most magical of secrets and her eyes widen.
The room is gorgeous, if not for the fact it would mean living with someone, Tsuneko wouldn’t mind staying here permanently. Part of the walls are soft floral patterns, the lower half pastel blue and white vertical stripes. The bed has a soft blue blanket and pale pink canopy.
“It’s so cute!”
“I’m glad you like it, you can use it anytime you want.”
“I really appreciate it, thanks.”
“It’s no problem, I’m happy to have you here; I’ll let you sleep now.”
“Goodnight.”
“Goodnight, Alice.”
She waves him off for the night and shuts the door, why does he have the extra room? It seems like an odd thing to keep, the March Hare and Dormouse obviously don’t stay here. But, everything about him is odd, so maybe it’s best not to question things. She sends a quick text asking Chisato to check on Kiyo if she can and kicks off her boots, she doesn’t exactly have pajamas here, but she’s tired enough to fall asleep in anything.
Maybe it’s the stress of the shopping trip with Carolina finally coming down on her or having just gotten to relax with someone, either way she doesn’t feel the usual resistance to getting ready to sleep. She’s ready to crash already, she just hope she doesn’t make any noises to attract attention to her room. The walls don’t seem too thin, but that doesn’t mean soundproof.
She sets an alarm on her phone, tosses off her jacket and undoes the bun that’s been holding up half of her hair before throwing herself on the bed. It’s plush and so soft; it isn’t just nice to look at. Tsuneko roots and finds her way under the blanket; her eyelids grow heavier and heavier as she drifts off to sleep.
A deafening sort of silence overwhelms her as Tsuneko stands in the house; too cold, too dark, and too quiet to be considered a home.
The silence is pierced as rope shifts and wood creaks. Her heart pounds in her ears and she jolts into movement. A different kind of overwhelming, too quiet replaced with too loud, complete whiplash.
Too loud.
Too desperate.
Hot tears stream down her face, her lungs burn with the need to breath. It’s like she’s on fire, heat simmering under her skin and sweat running down the back of her neck.
Tsuneko sees her. Long dark hair falls over her face, noose wrapped tighter around her neck and the wood creaks with the strain to hold her body up. She doesn’t look dead, like she could move or breathe any second. Maybe, Tsuneko can save her.
She’s under them, forcing their weight up onto her shoulders. If she can lift them up higher, she can reduce the tension, stop them from strangling.
If only she was taller.
If only she was stronger.
If only she was smarter.
If only she was faster.
If only she was better.
If only she was enough.
But she’s not.
The weight of the body slumps heavy her shoulders, they’ve gone cold and decay is setting in.
Too short, she couldn’t get them up higher.
Too weak, couldn’t lift them up further.
Too stupid, why didn’t she grab a ladder, something to cut the rope?
Too late, if only she had gotten there sooner.
Too cruel, that’s why they’d choose death over her.
She’s not enough good things and too many bad things, a disgusting mess that drives everyone away.
Death is more desirable than her.
Death was better than one more moment with her.
Tsuneko wakes up with a jerk, knocking a pillow over in her frenetic movement. Her face is soaking wet, hot tears flooding her vision, she tries to wipe them away but her fingers are numb and trembling.
She can’t catch a deep enough breathe; every breath is a desperate gasp that just feels too shallow to keep her going. Her throat is tight, like it’s swelling and her heart won’t stop pounding.
Just a little peace, that’s all she wants. Why is that too much to ask? Why is her mind constantly reminding her of every failure, why does she have to be such a failure?
She needs to get away. Doesn’t matter where, just away.
Her hands are shaking; she nearly drops her phone and puts her jacket on inside out. She doesn’t bother zipping her boots, just shoving her feet into them before moving.
That’s all she needs to do right now, is move, go, get away. The door of the spare bedroom closes behind her with a noise and her panic fogged brain can just hear the sound of water running.
It’s coming from the bathroom, a shower.
The Hatter is taking a shower, so mundane, but so odd to think of with him. His hair color and makeup would be completely washed away, he must look…human. The water stops and the door starts to creak open. If she stays she’ll see who he is, he’ll be real.
She’s gone.
The door to Wonderland slams shut behind her and she’s taking the stairs two at a time, just pushing forward with every stumble or trip that threatens to send her falling back down.
She doesn’t want to see the real him.
She doesn’t want to see him as a person.
She doesn’t want the illusion broken.
If she lets that happen…
It’s over.
It’s ruined.
Whatever glimmer of happiness, whatever minute amount of peace she’s found here will be destroyed.
He’ll be real, he’ll be human, and he’ll know what a mess she is.
He’ll have shown her the real him before he’s ready, there’s a reason he’s like this, he’ll never want to see her again.
She’s so sick of everything going to shit.
She’s sick of how fragile every moment of happiness is.
She doesn’t want to destroy anything else.
She doesn’t want to ruin anything else.
She doesn’t want to be like this.
Why can’t she stop being like this?
Why can’t she just be happy?
Her feet hurt. She stops moving, a few random people brushing past her without concern for her state. She’s somewhere in the city, she’s not sure where. She just kept moving.
She’s breathing heavy, but it’s different. Huffs from exertion rather than panic. Her heart is starting to calm. Her limbs are heavy and leaden, but no longer numb. She just wants to fall down in the middle of the street and rest, maybe in the road so a truck tire can cave her skull in.
Instead, she checks her phone. She’s going to be late for work. If Ichinomiya thinks she’s avoiding work for the bet, she’ll lose automatically.
Does it even matter?
Can she even get her life back on track if she wins?
Even if she does, will it make her happy?
It’s not like she was ever really happy before.
Maybe even if she wins she’d be better off dead.
She doesn’t have time for this anymore. She’s used up her daily allotted breakdown time it seems, mental health takes a back seat to a paycheck until further notice.
Tsuneko sits down at a nearby bus stop, looking at the schedules available and makes a call, a heavy sigh on her lips.
“Yeah, Kenzaki, I’m going to be late. Sorry for being a bother.”
Her voice cracks with how much she means it. She’s just making everyone else’s life harder, fucking things up, that’s all she ever does.

Pairing: ItachiSakura Soulmate au: The one where you have a meter on your body that tells you how dangerous your soulmate is
Follow the link or read it under the cut!
Although he would rather let his younger sibling shave him bald then admit it, Itachi had always been rather anxious about meeting his soulmate. There were speculations that the Meters were a product of generations long ago, back in olden times when carrying hidden weapons was typical and being a ninja was a common profession. Back then it would have been useful to know how dangerous one’s soulmate was; it might have actually helping you find them. Nowadays the Meters were largely superfluous, only helpful if one by chance happened to stumble across one’s soulmate and touch them.
For people like Itachi, however, the Meter had another purpose: worrying him sick whenever he let himself think about things too deeply. It sat upon his right wrist, a half-moon broken in to four colored sections. Most people that he met had their thick black needle pointing firmly somewhere in the green quadrant. He had seen a few that pointed in the middling yellow range, whose soulmates often turned out to be police officers or military personnel. He had even met one person whose needle pointed to the orange quadrant and when the truth of his home life had finally come out the entire town had been in an uproar.
Itachi’s Meter, however, was unlike any he’d seen before. The needle on his wrist pointed firmly towards the red quadrant. Whoever his soulmate was they were a very dangerous person indeed. Itachi often wondered how he registered for his other half; as the CEO of Uchiha Incorporated he didn’t imagine he could be seen as very dangerous at all. Certainly he was trained in several martial arts, but that was more of a personal hobby than an intention to hurt someone.
Finding one’s soulmate was not actually very common anymore. Enough so that when Itachi did meet his, he couldn’t decide whether to be more shocked at the fact of the meeting or the method.
Being the CEO made every personal moment in his life a public one, much to his chagrin, and his thirty-second birthday was no different. The party his younger brother had arranged for him was tasteful but he would have much preferred to celebrate quietly at home instead of in the massive office from which he ran the family company. Despite the terror of the moment when a gang of men with automatic weapons burst in to crash the party, Itachi could not stop himself from sending his brother the driest ‘I-told-you-so’ face in his repertoire.
That look melted away to be replaced with complete and utter shock as a petite woman with bright pink hair dropped down through his ceiling tiles right on top of the one pointing a gun in his face. With seeming ease she locked her thighs around his neck, twisted, and rolled away leaving a dead man behind her. Itachi could do no more than sit huddled behind his desk beside Sasuke and watch as this tiny slip of a thing systematically took out each and every one of the assailants without earning so much as a scratch.
Stupidly, despite the shock of the events going on around him, Itachi could not take his eyes from the woman. Her distractingly beautiful face remained impassive even as she disarmed a man twice her size and drove the butt of his own gun in to the base of his skull. Party-goers screamed and scattered every which way each time one of the masked intruders moved yet his pink-haired savior appeared perfectly calm, rolling backwards over the snack table to avoid a wild punch and kicking her opponent between the eyes as she went.
As abruptly as the action had started, it was all over. Suddenly the room was left utterly quiet, the rich and terrified all huddled along the edges of the room, several large muscle-bound terrorists unconscious or dead on the floor, and one petite woman casually brushing her hair out of her eyes, examining the cuff of her sleeve and grimacing at a tear in the material. With a huff, her eyes swung over to where Itachi and Sasuke were both still crouched behind his large desk. As the elder rose slowly to his feet with as much composure as he could her gaze swept over him from head to toe, a considering look on her face. Itachi felt almost as though he were being judged and he wondered if he had been found wanting.
“You have some pretty important people after your head, you know,” she said, the first words she had spoken since entering the room. Itachi raised a single eyebrow.
“That is not news to me,” he replied. She snorted, shaking a bit of broken glass off of her boot before stepping over in his direction.
“Well lucky for you you’ve also got some important people looking out for that pretty head of your as well. Sorry to break up your party”–she really didn’t sound very sorry–“but you’ll have to come with me, Uchiha-san.” With one hip cocked and the slightly tilt to her head, pink hair swaying like a sheet of candy floss around her face, she looked nothing like the deadly fighting machine of only a moment ago.
In all his life, Itachi had never been so instantly intrigued by a person.
“To follow you would seem the best course of action,” he conceded, tugging his clothes in to the place in an effort to further compose himself. He’d just watched three men die and several others be rendered violently unconscious; he should not be fighting back a flush of attraction. To his side, Sasuke was looking at him as though he’d gone crazy.
“You can’t just go running off with some stranger!” his brother protested. The girl smirked.
“Why Sasuke, how rude!” She gave a simpering pout so false it was laughable. “How can you possibly call me a stranger? Don’t you recognize your old classmate?”
Three heartbeats of silence passed while Sasuke stared at the woman, confusion written on his features as he obviously wracked his brain to try and come up with where he could have possibly met someone so dangerous before. The moment it clicked was obvious when his jaw dropped. “Sakura!?”
“The one and the only. Now, Uchiha-san, if you would?” She directed her second statement to the one she had been paid to come here and protect, beckoning Itachi towards her and completely dismissing his younger brother.
“If memory serves,” Itachi said as he picked his way towards her, “’Sakura’ was the name of the girl in high school who had an obsession with my little brother.” The woman chuckled.
“Yes, well. Let’s just say I’ve moved on to bigger and better things.”
Itachi hummed as he drew abreast of her. Shaking her head in amusement at his efforts to seem unaffected by everything that was happening, she reached out to tug his tie in to place for him. His hand came up in reflex, attempting to block her motion using one of the moves he practiced so often in the dojo. The moment his fingers curled around his wrist they both stopped moving, staring at each other in wonderment.
“Much better things, it would seem,” she breathed for only him to hear.
He found he could hardly respond at first. His soulmate! He knew it the moment their skin touched, this woman before him was his soulmate! He could hardly believe that they had found each other; even less believable that he had watched her kill three would-be attackers within the first five minutes of meeting.
Sakura recovered first. She stepped away from him with a sharp smirk but soft eyes, heading for the exit. The partygoers that he had forgotten all about, still braced along the edges of the room, scrambled to get out of her way as she reached the door.
“Coming?” she called over her shoulder. Once corner of Itachi’s mouth quirked up ever so slightly.
“Oh yes,” he answered in a low voice. “I believe I will follow wherever you wish to lead me.”

THE WELL-INTENTIONED MURDERER
No, Squattedman did not die in the tremendous explosion in Edison's warehouse. He didn't even suffer the least scratch. Of course, he took a fright. A hell of a fright. But now it's all over. Tammany Hall has been broken up. I am not saying that there are no longer corrupt politicians or street gangs. But now they all run around like headless chickens. From now on, the task of Squattedman would be the ordinary task of any superhero: rescue people in distress, prevent a robbery or a murder, safeguard the peace and order of the planet, stop the indiscriminate cutting down of trees and poaching, prevent the derailment of a train or the sinking of a ship, or warn a confident buyer that the second-hand car they are selling to him is actually a lot of junk assembled to give the appearance of a Ford T...
He got back pain just thinking about it. But it was his duty, and if a man should not escape his duty, even less a super-man! Compliance with the duty was the most important principle of a superhero. However, that same afternoon he bought an ocean liner ticket to the Seychelles with a fictitious name. But it was too late. All papers talked about him and his feats. He was already a famous superhero. So, despite his rabbit costume, when he got on the ship he was immediately recognized. He had to pretend that he thought he was queuing at a bakery and return to his apartment. He stared at the sunset through the window. He told himself that after all there would not be so much difference between the sunset in New York and the sunset in the Seychelles. At that moment, he looked down and his eagle eye detected a man stealing another's wallet in the middle of Times Square. He sighed, took off his clothes and instantly was off like a shot.
It turned out that it was a false alarm: the alleged thief was actually the legitimate owner of the wallet, whose custody he had entrusted to the alleged victim. But then an individual ran by with a blood-stained jacket and a smoking gun in his hands. “Another false alarm”, he thought, but still he started chasing him. When he caught him, the man denied having committed any infraction: he had waited for the traffic policeman to give way to the pedestrians before crossing. There was nothing to reproach. Then Squattedman mentioned the gun in his hand and his blood-stained clothes, and the man assured that he didn't know how they got there.
"Why were you running then?"
"I'm training to run the hundred-yard dash."
"In a frock coat and top hat?"
“I am an elegant man. Is that a crime? ”
Squattedman didn't know what to think. The got a bad feeling about it but his answers were credible. On the other hand, the gun had stopped smoking and the blood was drying. So he let him go.
The next morning, while reading the newspaper, he knew that he had made a mistake: a gravedigger had been murdered in the New York City Marble Cemetery, just the direction from which the frock-coated athlete of the previous afternoon came. That was a bad business for Squattedman’s reputation. He could not afford to be deceived in that way, as the newspapers made clear. He had to catch the killer.
The first thing he did was go to the cemetery to question the witnesses. Unfortunately everyone was dead. It was not that any massacre had been committed. It was that they had been dead and buried for a long time and even centuries. But there was something that didn't fit. Why would anyone want to kill a gravedigger? Unless he resented him for having buried a loved one. But if he was dead, what was wrong with burying him? Maybe the killer had other plans. What if he wanted to mummify his loved one or preserve him in brine, and the gravedigger had got ahead of him?
While thinking about the multiple possibilities, it was getting dark. It's funny how, despite knowing you're indestructible, old fears don't disappear. Being alone in a graveyard at night was one of Squattedman’s old fears. If at that moment a tomb had been opened and a dead man had come out of it, he would have skedaddled just like before becoming a superhero. So he hurried to carry out his task: he stuck his ear to the ground and listen carefully. Among the thousands of communications that were taking place in New York at that time, he caught one that gained his attention:
"Phil?"
"Is that you, Mirna?"
"No, it's me: Rudolph."
"Did you kill the gravedigger?"
"Yes, but I think ..."
"Well done! He shouldn't go unpunished after killing so many people. "
“I think it was a mistake, Phil. That is a cemetery! ”
"I already told you! There were graves everywhere, right? Didn't I tell you that his yard looked like a cemetery?!
"He didn't kill them, Phil!"
"Don’t be ingenuous! All those graves in his house's yard, and he hasn't killed anybody?!”
“It wasn't his house’s yard, Phil. He lived in the house because he was in charge of the cemetery. ”
“Brzwwzz. I don't hear you, Rudolph. Brzwwzz. Communication is cut. Brzwwzz. This damn phone line. Brzwwzz ”
After tracing the call and the callback thanks to his super powers, Squattedman took flight, grabbed the murderers and left them well packed in front of a police station.

Cultist’s Revenge - Ch. 2: Run Boy Run
Some part of Max felt that, somehow, it should be poetic. Like the mood was being set. He didn’t really feel poetic though.
Ch. 1
Tw: drowning
links to other places to find me and this story
It was raining. No, scratch that, it was pouring. It felt like buckets were being poured from the sky onto him, soaking right through his hoodie and into his bones. Some part of Max felt that, somehow, it should be poetic. Like the mood was being set as he ran as fast as his little legs would carry him to get back before Daniel. He didn’t really feel poetic though. He felt more like he should drown in the rain and die alongside David after causing this. If he hadn’t started that stupid fire...
Max shook his head to clear the thoughts. He didn’t have time to be thinking like that. He could guilt trip himself about all that later when the other campers were safe and Daniel was dead. Well, hopefully. Max didn’t want to count his chickens before they hatched and he’d consider himself lucky if the bastard ended up in jail when all was said and done. He was totally going to try and kill him first though.
Max cleared the forest, panting and soaked to the bone. His eyes searched for the other campers, feeling a surprising amount of relief when he spotted the dining hall lights on with Gwen in clear view, yelling as usual. He got here first, thank god. He bolted for the hall, gagging when the back of his hoodie was grabbed and yanked on. He was twisted around harshly and thrown face first into the mud, hands burying deep into it.
“Did you really think you could have gotten here first, Max?” The hair on the back of his neck stood on end, that voice was just as cold and creepy as Max remembered. He quickly got to his feet, whipping around the face Daniel. He was grinning wickedly down at Max, his pearly white shirt soaked and see-through at this point. He didn’t have a weapon in his hands, yet. “Honestly, you’re ten, did you think you were being sneaky hiding behind that log? You couldn’t have been more obvious had you actually managed to scream.”
“Fuck off!” Max grabbed the nearest rock and threw it at Daniel, not the least surprised when it missed by a mile. Daniel looked very unimpressed. He did that creepy head tilt thing and Max winced at the awful crack it made. He advanced towards him and Max scrambled backward, desperately trying to stay upright as his heels dug into the mud and nearly tripped him up.
“But, hey, I’m glad I caught you here!” Daniel said, voice filled with mock cheer. His grin stretched wide and he pointed his pistol straight at Max’s chest, finger hovering over the trigger. “I sure hope you liked David, because you’re going to be joining him.” Max turned away and squeezed his eyes shut. This was it, he couldn’t outrun a bullet. He held his breath, awaiting the moment Daniel pulled the trigger.
Click.
Nothing happened. Max hesitated a moment before opening one eye to peer over at Daniel. He was cursing to himself, smacking the butt of the gun against his hand before pulling the trigger again, earning another uneventful click.
He was out of ammo. Max’s eyes widened at the realization before he stumbled back, letting himself fall into the mud as he tried to catch his breath. Holy fuck. Holy fuck, he almost died. Daniel almost shot him. Holy fucking shit.
Daniel growled in frustration before tossing the empty pistol aside, bringing back his unsettling grin. “You know what? This is fine! I don’t need a gun to get rid of you.”
“You sure about that?” Max asked as he pushed himself back onto his feet. His voice wavered slightly as he spoke, though the sarcastic tone was impossible to miss. Damn it, his legs were still shaking. “I’m not afraid of some dumbass that can’t even remember to load his own gun before trying to murder a fucking ten year old.”
“Now, Max,” Daniel said, voice smooth and soft as if he wasn’t about to murder him. “You really should watch your mouth.” Max screamed and ducked to the side when Daniel sliced at him with a knife that had seemingly come out of nowhere. Max scrambled to his feet and bolted in a random direction, pretending the knife didn’t nick the back of his hoodie. “Get back here!”
“Yeah fucking right, psycho!” Max cried over his shoulder, flipping the other off out of habit. He headed for the camping grounds, swerving his way between the tents to avoid being sliced. He screeched and ducked as Daniel came out of nowhere from his side and swung the knife at him. He missed narrowly, knife catching on the tent Max had been weaving passed. He used the two seconds it took Daniel to free his knife to duck under his arm and get away.
Max ripped his hoodie off and threw it behind him, grinning in satisfaction when Daniel screamed in frustration. Bullseye! Max leapt over Preston’s prop chest, which he would have totally missed if he didn’t know it was there. Daniel had no idea it was there. He tripped over it and fell face first into the mud with an angry yell. Max grinned.
“SUCKER!” Max turned back to where he was going, weaving through the trees towards the fire pit. He grabbed the metal poker and ducked behind one of the trees. Daniel ran into the clearing, looking very confused, and Max seized his opportunity to stab him in the foot with the poker. Daniel let out a girlish scream that would’ve put David to shame and Max bolted.
“Mother fucker!” Daniel screamed as he tore the poker out of his foot and ran after him.
“I know you are but what am I!” Max cackled, unable to help himself. He skidded and turned left as he came to the shore, running alongside it and towards the docks. He could hear Daniel hot on his tail and he knew damn well he was running out of tricks. Time for the last one. He leapt over the water and onto the dock, waving his arms around as he slipped and nearly lost his balance.
Max turned and backed away as Daniel stood at the other end of the dock, blocking his path back to camp. “Ha! I’ve got you now, brat.” Max backed up slowly, watching Daniel as he approached and keeping an eye on his feet with his peripherals. “You think you’re so clever, having outsmarted me once. But not this time.” Max smirked and placed his hands on his hips, feeling satisfied when Daniel scowled. “What are you smiling about?”
“You’re so fucking stupid, Daniel,” Max said mockingly, placing his foot on top of the anchor beside him. “And you really should watch your footing.” At that Daniel looked down, but by the time he noticed the rope around his foot Max had already kicked the anchor into the water. The rope tightened around Daniel’s foot before he could react and it pulled him towards the water.
Max’s ankle was grabbed in an iron grip without warning and he screamed as he fell face first onto the dock, hard. Max latched onto one of the posts, clinging for dear life. Daniel was using him to try and climb back onto the dock. Shit. Max’s grip slipped and he cried out at the strain it put on his arms to hang on, digging his fingers into the wood. Double shit. Max lifted his head as he heard Gwen calling for him over the rain. He glanced back at Daniel, who was giving him a murderous look.
“You let go, you die!” he threatened, but it didn’t really feel like a threat. It felt more like a plea, his last bargain. Max turned his head back towards the camp as he heard his name again, this time it was Nikki and Neil calling. The rain had stopped and his grip was still slipping as Daniel grabbed onto the back of his shirt, his other hand reaching around for the wooden beams. As his eyes landed on the reaching hand, Max felt something in his chest settle. He’d never felt so certain in his life.
“Fine,” Max said lowly, feeling Daniel freeze. He looked over his shoulder at him, steeling his resolve as much as he could, pretending he didn’t fear what was coming. Daniel was the one looking scared now. “But if I’m going down, I’m taking you with me, asshole.” And with that, Max let go of the pole and took his last breath before feeling the cold water envelop them both.
Everything went dark and all sound muffled instantly. It hadn’t even been five seconds and Max could already feel his lungs trying to explode. At least that’s what he thought they were doing. An arm wrapped around his chest and yanked hard, pulling Max further into the water. He swore Daniel’s nails felt like claws through his shirt and he was surprised there wasn’t blood.
His thoughts cut off as he let out a gurgle of air, watching the bubbles rise to the surface. It wasn’t very far, in fact it probably wasn’t even a foot above them. There was no way the rope was holding him down that bad, was it? He felt Daniel dig his nails into his chest and pull again, another hand was holding tightly to his arm. The idiot was keeping himself there. Max didn’t care that they were dying, he’d always said eternal nothingness was gonna be great, didn’t he?
Max struggled despite himself, trying to force Daniel to loosen his grip, but the hold didn’t give, instead it tightened significantly. Max grunted as the last of his breath went with the tightened grip and he felt like his lungs were trying to tie into a knot. Maybe drowning wasn’t the best way to go, not that he had been given a choice.
He closed his eyes, trying to ignore the feeling of his lungs trying to collapse. He felt Daniel go limp behind him, his grip slackening, and there was the vague idea that he should start swimming. But as quick as the idea came, his lungs forced him to inhale deeply, despite the lack of air.
The water burned like fire and Max’s eyes shot open as he gasped in pain, allowing more water into his lungs. He squeezed his eyes shut again, unable to feel as Daniel completely let him go. A hand tried to reach for his throat like it might help somehow. It didn’t. For a second Max wondered if anyone would miss him, then he wasn’t wondering anything at all.

Ten Doubts About Animate Online You Should Clarify | animate online
When I was younger, activated movies were all the rage. I’m abiding abounding bodies my age can relate. Disney’s activated abstract played on echo in my household, and I would beg my parents to booty me to the movies every time a new activated flick hit the big screen. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve noticed that activated films are generally placed on the aback burner. Advertising for these films is beneath apparent; their box appointment numbers generally abate and my absorption in seeing them has waned.
I’d say I’m a ambrosial common beholder but rarely do I accept to see an activated blur — abnormally in theaters. Now, acutely they’re targeted adjoin a adolescent admirers (both in agreement of a added adolescent artifice and in agreement of marketing), and this plays a allotment in my crumbling interest. I am abiding I’m not the alone one, however, who can still watch tentpole activated movies from our adolescence like “The Lion King,” “Pocahontas” or akin “Shrek” and still adore them aloof as abundant as I did back I was a child. Allotment of that may be the homesickness we feel watching them, but I anticipate we’ve abandoned how absolutely acceptable activity can be.
Recently, “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” has accustomed a ton of acclaim online from admirers and critics alike, so I knew I capital to analysis it out. As abundant as I adulation Marvel, I’m acquisitive to see any blur accepting that abundant buzz. I was still agnostic about how abundant I would adore an activated film. Watching this film, I was aflame about activity for the aboriginal time in a continued time. Not alone did it become one of my admired activated films, but it became one of my admired films. Period. No qualifier necessary.
Occasionally, an activated blur will accept added absorption than usual, like “Moana,” “Coco” or “Spider-Verse.” But akin in those cases, we generally use an adapted calibration to adjudicator these films. We may adjudicator them adjoin added activated films we accept seen, or say that it was acceptable “for an activated film.” It’s attenuate that an activated blur appear this year or abutting will be any of our admired films of the year, after the qualifiers — whether that’s because we didn’t booty them actively or we didn’t akin watch them, to activate with. In fact, abounding of the archetypal activated films we adulation to watch are now actuality recreated application alive activity and CGI: forms of moviemaking that are arguably added ambrosial to us.
Animation is aloof as abundant a ability as any added anatomy of moviemaking. Animators agilely actualize anniversary arena from scratch. Actors breathe activity into these characters application alone their voices. Tons of activated films are appear every year, and it seems like beneath and beneath are talked about enough.
Next time you’re aggravating to adjudge what cine to watch, accord a new activated absolution a try. Sure, the capacity may be added juvenile, but that doesn’t accomplish them beneath important. No amount how old we are, we could still use a admonition that anybody deserves to be admired or that adverse our fears bang is the best way to succeed. As an added bonus, you’ll accept a ton of fun forth the way.
