i allow any pairing; wlw, mlm, wlm, etc. i also only do celeb/actor x oc. double ups are allowed. i will also allow smut, but it must not be constant, and it will rather be occasional.
i will tell you my rules in pms / dms, if you are interested you can like this and i’ll reach out or you can message me on @pvinkarchive. have a good day / night! :)

hmmmmm
so i've unfortunately fallen into a new hole of scarian/desert duo fic
and now i have to decide if i should reblog that stuff /here/ because this is my fanfic related acc despite a zero percent chance there's fandom overlap between ST and hermitcraft, putting it on /main/ and potentially alienating my solid ~3 mutuals there despite already talking about minecraft/etc p regularly, or option three: make ANOTHER sideblog so i can keep my interests clearly deliniated and less likely to make people dislike me
much to consider for a loser such as myself 😔

if mcyt isn’t fiction then
people who create dnd characters that are similar to them in personality are just playing themselves and should not be treated as having made a character
people who make any other dnd character should also be treated as just playing themselves since people refuse to even consider roleplay smps as fiction
any ocs someone puts a bit of themselves into? nope not fiction!
actors who play a character with the same first name as them aren’t really acting
and so on
maybe YOU can’t separate characters and real people and think that everything you see from a youtuber even when they’re explicitly acting is how they are in real life but we as a fandom just don’t have that issue lol. we’ve had disclaimers and indicators for when we’re talking about characters and not content creators for years because a certain smp contained a character having suicidal thoughts as a result of abuse at the hands of another character and we needed to make it absolutely crystal clear that we were referring to a fictional storyline and not real guy #1 being an abuser and real guy #2 being suicidal. these customs have either extended into other corners of mcyt fandom, or some developed their own independently like hispanic mcyt fans have used the word cubito to distinguish mc guy from real life guy from years, a term that other language speakers liked so much we’ve also started picking it up lol
we know exactly what we’re doing. i get that the line maybe does seem more blurred to an outsider looking in (i wouldn’t know given that both my first fandom at age 12 and current fandom at age 20 were mcrp lol) but it’s universally understood amongst us. i don’t have a problem separating hermitcraft!gem and empires s1!gem the wizard with a twin brother and empires s2!gem the princess and cc!gem the real life canadian woman.
idk it rubs me the wrong way that after years of trying to explain this we’re either met with people calling us racists because of three guys that the rest of us (all of us, really, because dream team fans do not claim to be minecraft fans. those are the type to actually write rpf and ship the real life racist guys) hate probably a lot more than any of you do, or they watch a few minutes of a less roleplay-heavy series/part and decide that the entire medium is invalid as a form of storytelling
it’s so annoying. i don’t think we need to be understood to have validity as a fandom we’ve been doing this for years already without that but it is so infuriating and sad how whenever there’s some kind of fandom poll thing one of three things happens
mcyt fans are banned outright and placed on the same level as something like hp
an mcyt fan runs their own and gets harassed for it
a non-mcyt fan allows us in until they get harassed so badly by whatever fandoms we go up against that they end up deleting our bracket
in what world is that normal behaviour. and that harassment always involves calling them all racist cishet white men such as misgendering both eret (real life bisexual genderqueer person) and their character (also queer), attempting to harass jimmy solidarity fans because jimmy makes mc videos so he must be a dream associate (the only time they interacted was in a tournament during which dream and georgenotfound shittalked jimmy’s best friends to his face), all the shit quackity has gotten for being a former friend of the dream team as if he wasn’t the #1 victim of their racism and xenophobia, the fact that any time c!technoblade is involved in a poll we have to beg other fandoms not to talk shit about him because the real life man died of cancer before dream’s grooming allegations came out, similarly when tfc was in one. and so on and so forth. all because people can’t separate roleplay and real life and think that the entire minecraft sphere revolves around dream just because their idea of mcyt does (not even his own smp named after him did that).

⚠️ DON’T START DISCOURSE ABOUT RPF IN THE NOTES!! YOU WILL BE BLOCKED IF YOU DO SO ⚠️
Do you ship it?
Tumblr media
Reason:
“so they're another classic case of Thai actors whose job is to play to each other's love interests in every show that they're in together. standard stuff but they're also a pretty fun duo cause early on in their pairing, back when their first show together was still airing (I saw as if that wasn't just like a year ago and their upcoming projects haven't come out yet), there was a fun interview where they were talking about ship names. Now we all know that traditionally the first name in a ship name is the one on top, and usually with these thai actor pairings, their characters usually have the same sexual dynamics across shows, which is then reflected in the order that the actors's names are put together for marketing stuff like fanmeets or whatnot. And well long story short, in their show Pit Babe, Pooh's character topped Pavel's. so PoohPavel right? well the two of them decided to debate whose name should go first in an interview together, essentially debating which one of them would top the other if they ever had sex. they also argued over it on twitter, each insisting that they would be the one to top the other. Which I just think is a very funny thing to do with your work boyfriend. Pavel also interacts with shipping content of them on tiktok (like that one meme where it's a picture of one guy surrounded by strawberries, and then the picture of the other guy surrounded by strawberries drizzled in white icing, Pavel liked and commented on the poohpavel version of that). anyways I don't even know if they're for real dating or not but I do know that they are more than ok with people shipping them and are clearly having fun with making jokes about them having sex with each other. Aksi their chemistry is really good when they're acting, especially when they make out or have sex scenes. also they're breakout role together and what kickstarted all of this is that they are the main actors in the first live action omegaverse tv show, where they both play alphas who are in love (and Pavel's character is a super special alpha that can get pregant so their characters do mama/papa roleplay throughout the series).”

I am so sick to death of seeing “confessions” of people arguing about RPF. Now I don’t know you personally, dear poster, but I suspect this isn’t what you had in mind when you created this blog. And quite frankly, I think people constantly sending you arguments about rpf is disrespectful to you and your blog. I’m tired of constantly having to scroll to find some actual confessions.
I came here for confessions like, “I found Jayden with the Cat King’s eyes really hot!” Or “I don’t see the appeal of the Payneland ship. Why does Charles HAVE to feel the same as Edwin?” Or “I love Dead Boy Detectives, but Niko’s wig looked a little cheap.” Stuff like that.
I promise I’m not attacking you, dearest owner of this blog. I just felt people are abusing your blog because they have the power to post whatever they want to it, and all anonymously. So here’s my confession:
I’m sick to death of seeing in-fandom fighting about things that would make the actors/people creating the media, uncomfortable. Don’t roleplay as or write smut fanfic about real people and their coworkers. It’s dehumanizing and you’re not entitled to write as them or about them like that. Characters and real people are 2 very different things. One is an idea, the other is a REAL HUMAN PERSON with a life of their own. If you truly think it’s okay to rpf, then voice your opinion as a reblog and don’t hide behind an anon in this account’s inbox.
Have a great weekend and happy holidays, dearest owner of this blog.

Re: Dearly Beloved in-universe fandom, it struck me that I have somehow never mentioned in-universe superhero/villain/whatever fanart despite fanart being such a core (and more importantly visible) component of fandom. (While mentioning fanfiction, subreddits, touching on fancams and ASMR roleplays etc etc) And I guess it makes sense because this is text, I don't really know they look like, and it's hard to describe visuals given the format I've constrained myself to. But I also feel like this blind spot has to do with other fandom-related meta lol. (Self indulgent and long rambling)
1. Superheroes/villains are classified as "real people". In real life fandoms, while there's fanart of famous real people (actors in movies, singers, Kpop groups, athletes, F1 drivers, etc), there's less fanart compared to fanart of characters (anime, video games, books, etc). I assume this is because you need to have a certain level of skill to capture a real person's likeliness nicely. And real people may feel offended upon seeing "bad" fanart of themselves, whereas fictional people can't feel offended.
But superheroes/villains are masked and often wear helmets for safety. So you don't need the skill to draw their real life faces. Their suits are probably visually distinctive which makes it fun to draw (and cosplay!).
2. Superheroes/villains aren't just famous real people. There's a political connotation, in which it could be dangerous to support villains and people may not like heroes because they're like fantasy cops with powers. Especially in this context in which the government controls the heroes, there's whole system to raise heroes from children, there's censorship and conspiracies. Bringing to the third point:
3. Fanart is a very visual. (No shit, Sherlock.) Okay, in the sense people outside of the fandom are more likely to encounter fanart. It's also a publicly liked form of fandom, in comparison to fanfiction. I guess edits and cosplay are also liked and respected, but probably less common than fanart. (Insert something about my positionality as a fan of MCYT who writes fanfic, something about MCYT loving fanart and including it in their videos, commissioning artists, whereas fanfic (rightfully and thankfully imo) stays underground) So people who write hero RPF are already seen as "weirdos" and "the corner of the Internet you shouldn't see". It's not taken seriously. But if someone posted hero fanart on Twitter, normies would see this as liking / endorsement of said hero, whereas fanfiction would not get this kind of visibility. (And is shunned upon probably no matter what you write because fanfiction is generalised is "weird thing Wattpad teenage girls do when they want to bang a famous person".)
3.1. Back to the MCYT fandom thing. Heroes/villains can be compared to MCYT since they look different on and off camera (with and without their suits, like Minecraft skins and designs), they use different names for their different identities, and they put on a public persona. Similarly, I can imagine heroes finding fanart of their hero persona flattering and occasionally engaging with it on Twitter. (Whereas fanfiction stays underground.)
3.2. So I loveeee parodying the "cringe" Wattpad fics, not because I want to make fun of them, but because it's enjoyable to write without restraint. (And it's funny.) I think the general style is so unapologetically fun (and nostalgic). I have a lot of things to say about Wattpad (in defence of its users!), but it mostly boils down to young people being excited and earnest. I know a lot of people hate Wattpad, especially its RPF. I find it fascinating. Because someone (often tweens) had to be motivated to write that, someone had to have the passion to do it, and they'll do it badly (knowingly or not), because writing as a hobby is supposed to be fun! It's the essence of it! And it's the "bad" kind of fanfiction that I want to pay respect to. The kind that people look upon with disdain. The kind YouTubers make fun of. Because more often than not it's a thirteen year old being silly/stupid and it's mean to make fun of kids earnestly trying to make something.
Anyways in the universe, fanfiction sites become a place to store government censored conspiracies/theories because they fly under the radar compared to Reddit and Youtube.
4. I always felt I wanted to write the story instead of Tweetgen-ing it. Maybe it felt more "serious". And mimicing social media with text/HTML is easier than graphics. Now I feel like the utter lack of visuals in a social media fic (when social media is extremely visual, almost obnoxiously so) makes me focus on text itself— dialogue, transcripts, usernames, Tumblr tagging, YouTube comments, notices about subreddits being taken down, to-do lists, "confirm to delete" text boxes. In-universe fanfiction (both the Wattpad and Ao3 type) is taken seriously in the sense it helps with storytelling— it shows differing attitudes to events and public figures. It shows what type of perception is popular.
Anyways. I'm not sure this is interesting and I'm probably rambling inside my head. I guess I do love fanfiction as an art form. And I do admire and respect the earnest writers and readers on Wattpad. I still occasionally wake up to like 30 comments on a Wattpad fic from 4 years ago. I'm glad people still read it lmao.

I feel like in general c!sbi got butchered in most common fanfiction trends because writers tended to forgo their canon relationships for much more...cookie cutter ones I guess? There's the bio family fics where Techno, Tommy, and Wilbur are all Phil's kids, the dark fics where Phil is a violently abusive parent to Wilbur and Tommy, the fics where they're portrayed as a seemingly evil group of 'good guys', etc. And there's nothing wrong with people writing these fics, I don't have issues with the individual authors, but it's tiring when these ideas become large enough that they tend to overtake works based off of their actual dynamics. Like. Phil's attempted kindness but complete lack of understanding or connection to Wilbur is interesting!! Tommy, bearing no relation to Phil, being the one to try to bridge the distance between them and being the only person to seek out his advice is interesting! Tommy and Wilbur not being biological brothers who weren't raised together adds layers to their dynamic! Techno's shifting relationship with Tommy over the course of Pogtopia to Doomsday was interesting!!
I also may be off base on this, but I feel like more often than not when an author cracks out 'The Dream Team' as the main antagonists, they're much more likely to have completely different characterization than if an author chose one of them to focus on. IDK. I think many people try to look for tropes to slot characters into, and having multiple characters with complex relationships treated in that way tends to make the results more egregious.
mmhm mmhm -- i'd say that the cc dynamics kiiiiiinda influence a lot here shrug. the idea of "sbi versus dteam" has its roots in conflicts that are decidedly not based on the dream smp roleplay, honestly, and a lot of that carried over into the fanworks that were supposedly based on the dream smp but really took a lot of creative liberties dabbling in elements of both rpf and fic about the server itself.
not that that's a bad thing, or anything! people can write what they want, etc. but it sure did lead to a lot of err misleading? i guess? "advertising" when it came to people's "dsmp AUs" -- maybe confusing is a better word. like, look ooc-ness is something that every fandom has to deal with, but in most fandoms fanon isn't so obviously based on what is still the fandom, but like. a part of the fandom that's technically kinda separated from the fiction of the fandom. most of the time with actors they don't necessarily have a whole career founded on their playing a persona with other people in a context that ISN'T acting yknow? or maybe there is it's not like id know lmao
but yeah the phenomenon of bleedover from cc personas is all too real in this fandom, for better and for worse

One of the first things asked in survey #2 was “What makes a fanwork not RPF?”.
Now, there isn’t one concrete answer to this. In fact, the majority of people’s responses to this question fell into one of three categories:
Having aspects of being a “character”
Not being “out of character”
Author/Artist intent
(There were also a few instances of people thinking RPF stood for Roleplay Fiction)
To expand upon the first two, Joel (Smallishbeans) states in a QnA:
“When you see me in these videos, this is not what I’m like in real life most of the time. When I’m acting all crazy and stuff that is me just messing around, having fun, and sort of like playing a character where the character is myself. But I guess for me to actually do that, I guess part of it has to be me, as I do come up with these ideas all by myself and they are a bit weird sometimes.”
And in E. T. Hetzler's "Actor Self vs. Character Self: An Empirical Exploration", they paraphrase a chapter from A Dictionary of Theatre Anthropology by Franco Ruffini.
“The actor does not have the luxury of distance. The actor must create the illusion for the audience. But for this to be the case, the actor must surely see a distinct separation between the character and his/her personal self. This is not always an easy distinction to make.”
They go on to poll actors about their relationship with their role. Nearly 75% of respondents answered "It depends on the role and production. I can be detached or immersed." to the question of "How important is it to become your character?"
Tumblr media
A few responses caught my eye in the survey I did as well:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But regarding Author/Artist intent?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alright alright… what does this have to do with anything?
Once the essay I’m writing on this subject is out there, I will no longer have control of how it’s interpreted. Nor this slideshow. The same goes for any form of art, fanwork or otherwise. Even with the responses to the survey, I probably didn’t get exactly what was intended out of them!
Being both an author and someone who enjoys analysis, on top of someone who enjoys reading, I’m in a bit of a tricky spot. Do I subscribe to Roland Barthes’s proposal that “the birth of the reader must be ransomed by the death of the Author”? That the author must “die” in order to give space for the reader?
Or do I follow the whims of the statistician in me? To say, for certain, what is true or false about the data given?
Do I follow the wants of the author in me? To say, for certain, what is right or wrong about a piece of canon?
An author should be given space to share what they believe about their story.
A statistician should be given space to explain their reasoning.
But as viewer of the work provided, you should be able to come to your own conclusions and interpretations about a piece of media. Author intent be damned.
After reading the answers to this survey, I think it’s safe to say that I am in the minority that believes intent doesn’t matter. That as the reader, you are able to interpret other’s work however you see fit.
So I invite you to criticize my analysis of the data. I’m not perfect, and I’m still learning. But I can and will try to see different interpretations of the data.

The hate for RPF isn't about "curating your experiences" it's about not seeing actual people the same way you see fictional characters. I don't care what you do to fictional characters! They don't exist! But real people are real! How is that the same?
Posting as a response to a previous problem.
Going to include a few more anon responses regarding the same problem, and since this has been going on for a few days now, hopefully we can get this conversation wrapped up tonight.
Anon:
I'm sure people would change their tune if rpf didn't make them think about sexy men to write porn about but women since on this website, attraction to men mean you can write anything about them as long as you're horny
Anon:
Like RPF doesn't apply only to that one sexy actor you're into or a BTS member. Are you ok with porn of actress? Of singers? Is it still ok and you should just look away when women are involved? We talk about actual people it's not a matter of taste. Get out of your fandom mentality for once
Anon:
I'd like to weigh in on the rpf debate because I have been in multiple celeb roleplays over the years and I have been an admin to two of them. The reason I like celebrity roleplay is because there are some celebrities that I admire and roleplaying them is an outlet of sorts. That may sound silly to some, but it is what it is. I have been judged rather harshly in real life for liking celebrities and I liked being able to sort of geek out about them in a place that was free from judgement. But here's the thing I keep seeing, "shippers" are the cause of strained relationships between youtubers and celebs. I hope you guys know that people can still ship people outside of fanfiction or roleplay. Some people will draw fanart, edit pictures, maybe even videos and hound them on their social media accounts. Can we stop pretending that it's solely rpf's fault for causing problems here? There's other ways for shippers to be obnoxious to celebrities. Not everyone who writes celebrities/RPF are insane shippers.

sorry this is a deeply silly question but i am very new to mcyt, what do c/cc mean?
not silly at all if you're unfamiliar! c/c! stands for character, so exclusively the fictional character that appears in the roleplay and their actions, while cc/cc! stands for content creator, meaning the streamer/youtuber/actor behind it. this started i believe with dsmp streams where a lot of fans of the roleplay were also fans of the ooc streams, so if there was discussion it helped to clarify. eg. if people were talking about the exile arc, they might want to clarify that c!dream had hurt tommy or called tommy something, so people didn't assume it was a real thing that happened... it's also used to differentiate between different characters played by the same person- for example, if someone was talking about tubbo, they might use c!tubbo (dsmp), q!tubbo (qsmp), o!tubbo (origins smp)... it's also used a lot for shipping discussions so that people who don't want to associate with rpf can make it clear they're shipping fictional characters rather than the real people. the actual usefulness and where the line is drawn between c! and cc! is very vague and often differs from person to person so it's a tricky but interesting discussion.

the way people act about shipping the Minecraft guys is insane like guys its roleplay. They’re roleplaying. They're characters. When someone ships tv show characters do they think they’re rpf shipping the real actors

PANHELLENIIOS : 𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐂𝐔𝐋𝐄𝐒 — the son of zeus, lion of olympus, prince of power, and ... a washed-up nobody. herc's gotta clean up his act if he wants to be a 𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐎 again.
a roleplay blog for hercules panhellenios of marvel comics, featuring the themes of: demi-godhood, recovery, what it means to be immortal, divinity versus humanity, wanting to find a place in two worlds at once, joy and love as motivations, coping with rage, finding strength and its meaning, family drama lasting for eons, and being the strong friend at all costs.
┊ blog is 21+. ┊ multiverse, multimuse friendly. ┊ written by robin ( 29, he/him ). ┊ meme tag. | headcanon tag. ┊ rules are below the cut.
written by
robin, 29, he/him. trans. blog is 21+. i'm pretty laid back, all things considered, and i'm just here to write my beloved himbo getting into all sorts of situations. i work a full-time overnights ( est ) job so my schedule may be a little weird! you can find herc's bio here!
Tumblr media
blog themes
general triggers will be tagged accordingly, and if you need anything specific tagged, don't be afraid to send me a message. nsfw themes will be tagged & put under readmores. not entirely nsfw content will be tagged as suggestive. however, if you don't want imagery of shirtless men on your dash ... maybe avoid herc in general. he's usually shirtless. greek mythology is messy! and while i do not plan to emphasize or write incest on here, i do acknowledge that it's a big part of the stories. plus, we all know herc's dad is an immortal fuckboy. a theme that will be unavoidable on this blog will be hercules' alcoholism. he's recovering, but it will come up. for myself, i only ask that you tag mentions of cannibalism. that's really it.
Tumblr media
interpretation
comic timelines are messy. herc's got a lot of appearances, but they're generally short-lived and inconsistent. i'll be pulling from a lot of them, but filling in the rest of his story with my own headcanons. i generally prefer to keep him post-sobriety, but you can ask to interact with him beforehand! if your muse is a member of the guardians of the galaxy, you can safely assume herc will be written during his time with them unless you specify wanting otherwise! that being said, i draw from both marvel's comics and greek myth. actually a lot from greek myth. really the only thing i take from herc's short mcu cameo is his actor. we'll see how he actually turns out, i'll just be happy to have references of his costume.
Tumblr media
interaction
i prefer to interact with mutuals, though i won't be mad if you're quick to message before i follow back if it's, like, the same day! i will not interact with certain fandoms ( ie: jkr related media, rpf ) and tend to lean more toward media i'm familiar with for crossovers. i love ocs, though! hand 'em over. pre-established relationships of any sort are also totally doable! it can help make interaction easier, imo, to establish something ooc first.
Tumblr media
relations and shipping
i'm a shipper at heart. sorry. i love putting my little guys into situations with people they love. if you talk to me about the possibility of writing a ship ( even just a good friendship! ) i will be delighted. i will not, however, push any ships, romantic, friendly, or otherwise. if one of our muses catches unrequited feelings, then why not ham it up and make a storyline from it - unless you're uncomfortable with the prospect. herc can separate sex from romance, but he's pulled back on casual sex for the time being. his sexual history has gotten him a bad reputation, and he's trying to clean that up. plus his landlady will yell at him if he brings someone home.

Welcome to the-merry-resources!
Hi you can call me Shopkey, I run themerrymutants and recently realized that it might not be a bad idea to share some of my resources so I made this sideblog. I will also do small batches of icon commissions running at about $10 per 100 icons.
Rules:
All actors must be over 18
No actors that have stated discomfort in being used for roleplay
No RPF. Period. End of story.
No deceased actors
All icons will be 100x100 for the sake of my poor eyes
I'm by no means a professional but I will do my best to make sure they come out looking good.
