and I didn't even include magical boy anime (which isn't as rare as some people think)
look. a subgenre going in a direction you don't like for a while doesn't make it "dead". reboots, sequels, prequels, and stuff like that are the trend in all sorts of media, not just magical girl anime.
also, there are all sorts of cool magical girl works that aren't anime, and i don't just mean manga and light novels. there's live-action stuff, VNs, webcomics, written works, cartoons from countries other than japan...
and guess what? i'm not against dark magical girl stuff by any means. madoka magica was what got me into magical girl stuff in the first place! i love all sorts of magical girl media, both light and dark, though i don't claim to be an expert by any means. there's still so much stuff i haven't watched/read/played...
anyway, the anime listed here include Artiswitch, Kuromajo-san ga Tooru, Little Witch Academia, Fantasista Doll, Magia Wars, SHY, Hina Logi: From Luck and Logic, Matoi the Sacred Slayer, I've Had Enough of Being a Magical Girl, Urahara, Flip Flappers, Six Hearts Princess, Magical Girl Kurumi, The Demon Girl Next Door, and Mewkledreamy. The upcoming ones are Magical Girl Aiko, Princess Session Orchestra, Acro Trip, Magilumiere, The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant Used to be Enemies, and an unnamed magical girl anime from Studio Pierrot

part 4 of yogi verse ❀ rated: t for buck's thirsty thoughts ❀ pair: buck/tommy ❀ tags: au, yoga!instructor tommy
Buck was distracted.
Not so distracted that he couldn’t focus on his job, but between calls, he was enough of a space case that Eddie had to snap his fingers in front of Buck’s face when he zoned out for the fifth time during dinner, missing a question Hen had asked him.
And the source of that distraction?
Yoga class.
Buck could say it was because of his newfound passion for health and wellness, but that wouldn’t be the whole truth.
It had been a few days, and his leg was back to its usual eighty-five percent functionality. He was still embarrassed by his behavior. His attention-seeking problem was once again so bad that he’d made a complete ass of himself. Tommy had been way too kind to him, among other confusing things, and…
Well, Buck couldn’t stop thinking about that, either. Couldn’t stop thinking about him.
Naturally, he did some investigating to alleviate his curiosity—some light digging, not a deep dive. He wasn’t going to be a creep and look up Tommy’s socials, but the yoga studio had an Instagram. There were pictures, instructional reels, advertisements and coupon codes.
Buck consumed them all like a man possessed. He only stopped when he accidentally liked one of the reels of Tommy demonstrating an advanced routine with another instructor. They were doing something called Acro Yoga.
Buck watched it too many times because it was just so damn impressive, especially for a guy Tommy’s size to be able to contort his body like that. Also, the strength it must have taken to be able to hold his partner up in that position and flip her around so effortlessly. Holy shit. Buck was almost as big as Tommy. It wasn’t realistic or probably possible, but Buck’s stomach was jumping, swooping as he pictured himself in her place, Tommy holding him up and—
Yeah! Okay.
He sort of wanted to die of mortification because would Tommy know he had liked that post? Did Tommy have access to the studio’s account?
God, he probably did. He most definitely did.
Buck considered frantically deleting his Insta, but not only would that look suspicious as hell to everyone in his life, he didn’t want to lose all his content. He quickly liked a bunch of the posts that didn’t have Tommy in them to try and cover his tracks before he swiped out of the app and went to a safer place: the studio’s website.
He combed through that, too. Read the small blurbs about all the instructors. The blurbs themselves were disappointingly generic, offering nothing more than canned inspirational quotes and the amount of experience they had in their field. Still, they did have two random facts and a picture.
Tommy liked romantic comedies (ha, cute) and was also a licensed massage therapist. He had several different classes on different days of the week. He taught hot yoga.
Buck’s eyes glazed over slightly as he thought about a very sweaty, muscular body (shirtless? with those clingy, almost see-through yoga pants?), twisting and flexing and stretching—
“Oookay,” Buck said. He shook his head to snap himself out of it.
He needed to get laid. It had been a long time. Super long. He was having a bit of a dry spell.
But the thing that really snagged his interest…
Buck gulped as he stopped scrolling. Private lessons. One-on-one. Nobody in the room but him and the instructor. There were even options to do the classes at home or over Zoom.
Buck’s heart pounded as his thoughts spiraled. With a deep, shaky inhale, he impulsively tapped Book now!
The next five minutes he spent making his selections.
The implications of what he’d done started to sink in as soon as he put his phone down. A second later, it pinged with a confirmation email.
He was literally paying for more attention. He’d asked Tommy not to make any special exceptions for him, and now he was ordering them. Downright demanding them.
Why did he feel so giddy?
༻❁༺
When Buck woke up sweaty and hard with the memories of an explicit dream featuring none other than instructor Kinard, he had an inkling of an answer to that question.
But…
It wasn't the first time Buck had dreamt about a man before. Dreams were weird that way. Unpredictable. Sometimes meaningless. Random.
Buck got up and brewed a hot coffee, cooked up some breakfast sausages that he ate a little too aggressively, had a (cool) shower, and by the time he got in his Jeep, Tommy wasn't even on his mind anymore.
…Yeah, right.

i lied, put your clothes back on. i'm going to keep talking about the dance studio au (side note, currently writing this as i am at the studio i teach at lmao)
on today's episode of brainrot, i tell you about the different specialties of the characters i chose to teach and why i chose them, as well as some random facts about them as teachers!
Silco Lane-Shimmerson (ZDC)
STYLE INSPIRATION: Ballet/Pointe | Contemp
Silco mainly teaches ballet, pointe and contemp to both the full time comp kids and the part-time comp kids. I chose ballet/pointe for him because he is seen in canon as an overall precise and focused person, with little room for error, which are qualities usually seen within those styles. While he loves a good classic ballet routine, i think his specialties would lie within contemporary ballet, a style i see as more Zaun fitting. he would've learned the vaganova method growing up, a method known to use and value flexibility, strength and endurance, a method i believe that holds values that are pretty in line to Zaun in the show. due to his proficiency in contemporary ballet, i think it would bleed into him really enjoying contemporary/modern as a style. he would definitely be a harder and tougher teacher overall but the kids, especially the younger ones, love his upfront personality and makes him one of the more favoured teachers at the studio. He makes a lot of the kids enjoy ballet despite it being not well liked for many kids which is a FEAT. Silco is known for his intense choreography and it pays off since they are usually winning pieces (in contemp because anyone who judges a ballet dance judges so dumb no matter which way you go). He grew up with Vander at a small local studio and ended up joining and teaching at the Greater Piltover Ballet Company (GPBC) for a couple years before opening up a studio.
Vander Lane (ZDC)
STYLE INSPIRATION: Lyrical | Acro | Open
Vander doesn't actually teach all that much in comparison to many of the teachers since he also runs a cafe part time that is attached to the studio but is an overall favourite among the full-time competitive dancers. I chose for him to teach lyrical, acro and open because acro and open can be very powerful movement wise, which we see in Vander in the riots on the bridge and makes a lot of sense in that front, i decided to however also have him teach lyrical to bring out his softer side, which we see in the show when interacting with the kids. He teaches lyrical and acro to all of them but teaches open to the senior and inter teams. he's the type of teacher that brings in goodie bags for each holiday season and will tell the most insane stories during class time at random of him, Silco and Benzo over the years (ex. "fun story about spotting, when I was in the Piltover Ballet with Silco we learned from this woman who used to throw chalkboard erasers at us if we didn't spot our turns lol" "WDYM CHALKBOARD ERASERS???" "anyways back to your turns-"). He creates the most visually moving pieces ever and you wouldn't expect such softness and fluidity from that large of a man but by god does he do it well. oh and his acro routines?? SO visually stunning. this man has an eye for creating the most stunning pieces in all of his routines and they are consistently getting special awards for artistry at competitions. He also joined the GPBC for a brief stint with Silco before going to open up a small cafe on which Zaun Dance Movement was built upon.
Sevika Vann (ZDC)
STYLE INSPIRATION: Hip Hop | Acro | Open
Sevika is the one woman army of ZDM and Silco's right hand woman. She's the one picking out costumes (only Babette is aloud to help she does not trust those men), unpacking costumes, bedazzling, the whole works (dw she is compensated GOOD). I have her specialty as hip hop because she is a notably strong fighter and with the way she moves when fighting, she moves fluidly and sharp which are common notables in hip hop. She teaches the whole slew of comp kids hip hop and does tech classes with them. Her hip hop style is heavily mixed with Zaun break dance/street dance and allowed for the studio to become known for their unique style. She also teaches the part time kids acro since Vander is busy with the cafe and does some of the open small groups for the full comp kids. Her general stylization with her dances is heavy hitting and focuses on strength. She is a tough teacher but she does have her moments of roasting the shit out of her students to their delight. she loves a good banter and to be able to do that with her students will always be meaningful to her. She actually met Silco and Vander during a convention before they opened the studio, with her attending both their classes (Vander jazz and Silco contemp) and they took notice of her technique. Silco asked her to join the team the year they opened and with nothing else lined up for her at the time she agreed.
Babette Furlan (ZDC)
STYLE INSPIRATION: Jazz | Musical Theatre
I couldn't resist not putting Babette in this au she would be a riot omg. Babette teaches jazz and musical theatre because this woman would THRIVE in it. she owns a brothel in the show okay she would just love the theatrics of the two styles and would definitely go towards a more fosse style of jazz. she's been around a hot minute so she's very well known in the dance world and has won many awards for her choreo so it was down to pure luck that Silco ran into his old dance teacher whose home studio was closing and she was looking for a new studio to teach at. she creates choreo made to entertain the masses so it's very theatrical, loud and with the funnest costumes ever. she's also pretty well liked in classes and teaches all levels and ages.
Smeech Citrano (ZDC)
STYLE INSPIRATION: Tap
I LOVE ADDING THIS FUCKASS INTO RANDOM AU'S OKAY SO HEAR ME OUT!!! Smeech is the tap teacher because no.1 the way h moves in fights is great for tap and no.2 he has cybernetics in the show and metal meets metal shoes yknow!! this man is my favourite to figure out because he has beef with SO MANY of the kids, even the ones he has do solos/duos/trios and the only reason hes still employed is because hes the only good tap teacher in Zaun. the kids hate him but his routines place good so its a win-loose situation for them all honestly. his style of tap is steampunk ambience music with complex and/or fast steps with weird timings.
Cassandra Kiramman (PDC)
STYLE INSPIRATION: Jazz | Lyrical | Open
i have Cassandra teaching jazz, lyrical and open for a few different reasons. the jazz style appeals to her more intense side that we see when she busts in cait's room with a gun. she tends to lean towards the jazz-funk style more and her choreo is upbeat and fast moving. her lyrical becomes the opposite of that in fact and tunes into her softer side that we see when she talks to Caitlyn or Tobias. she uses traditional lyrical with it's softer and flowy lines of the body creating almost constant movement that draws in the audience. her style of open brings the two together which i think is important for her character. there tends to be sharper movements within but still allows for the flowiness to come through. her teaching methods can get intense at times but overall shes a good teacher and she's the kind to always have you do it full out with the music. she took over the studio after Heimerdinger's decision to step down and retire (for the most part lol) and has improved certain areas of the company since. before she had taken over, she was both a student and a teacher and had graduated from the GPBC's teaching program for lyrical and jazz. she's pretty hands on with her studio so she teaches both full time and part time competitive teams in her 3 preferred styles and is at the studio almost always. When she took over the studio, that's when a initial reach out to ZDM was made... she got one half in good faith at least!
Grayson Menea (PDC)
STYLE INSPIRATION: Hip Hop | Contemp | Acro
i couldn't NOT include miss Grayson so i have her in some of the more intense styles like hip hop, contemp and acro! she's got an overall pretty intense job in the show and i wanted to really bring that forward with the hip hop and acro, but show her somewhat softer side through with the contemp. her hip hop choreo is really sharp movements and lots of isolations, and her acro can be similar, with the placed movements and intensity. her contemp choreo is a lot more softer with the movements but still brings in that intensity through intentional and well placed moments of movement. she had actually grown up dancing at a smaller studio on the outskirts of New Piltover and close to Zaun so she learned hip hop very similarly to the Zaunite style of hip hop. she ended up doing a brief stint in the military and after a shot taken to her shoulder she was discharged. she decided not to return and was offered a job by then owner Heimerdinger to teach hip hop, since she was recommended by a mutual friend. she agreed and has thrived ever since. shes an overall pretty tough teacher when teaching but outside of that shes a wonderful person to be around and gives advice to the kids she teaches. she takes on more of the full time kids but does do some teaching with the older part-time kids.
Amara Saffioti (PDC)
STYLE INSPIRATION: Ballet/Pointe
Amara just looked like an older ballet teacher idk what you guys want from me, i went off pure vibes from her tbh. in any case, she is a true believer of classical ballet, plateau tutu's and all and is a no-nonsense but kind teacher. she uses the English (RAD - Royal Academy of Dance) method when teaching and she teaches the full scale of comp kids. she has a tendency to use music from different ballets and doesn't really branch out in that regard but her choreography is gorgeous. she also single-handedly puts on the nutcracker with her students every year and when Cassandra tries to help she shoos her out of the classroom. she was the first employee of the studio and she claims she will stay until she dies because she genuinely enjoys teaching so much.
Shoola Junot (PDC)
STYLE INSPIRATION: Tap | Musical Theatre
Shoola was also a very vibes based choice but i did think that a good musical theatre would help her be less cold in a way. for Shoola's tap style, it is a lot of quick tapping and lots of movement around the stage. she also has a habit of picking the shiniest of costumes for the kids which they love! i had a harder time finding a musical theatre style i liked for her but a classic simple musical theatre is where she is happy. her choreo still has those fast movements that she loves, just not as shiny costume wise and she loves to pick from older musicals. shes pretty well liked among staff and students but can seem quite cold due to her quiet demeanour outside the studio. she was originally a student at the studio and after graduating was asked to teach while she attended college to get her degree in engineering. she has another job outside the studio in a mechanical engineer position. she has also single-handedly upgraded the tap technique at the studio which is insane behaviour tbh.
Bonus! Cecil Heimerdinger (PDC)
STYLE INSPIRATION: Musical Theatre
thought fuck it, might as well add in the yordle! so Heimerdinger was actually a musical theatre geek and loved kooky theatre music so much he opened a studio mainly for that. he quickly learned he needed more variations of dance styles so in came Amara! tbh he had no clue wtf he was doing but they got an increasing number of wins with their routines so he said fuck it we ball ig. when he decided to give up the studio, he asked Cassandra and thankfully she said yes! while yes he was retired, he knew he needed SOMETHING to do so he took over managing the front desk (his multiple degrees came in handy) and does guest choreo work for Cassandra in his favourite style... musical theatre!

🩸- anon here with a few more silly ideas. (I’m a masc person so most of these are from a masc perspective:((( )
Logan and Goth older brother reader, kind of like Sunshine X Cerberus, but in the phantom realm? Readers the terrified one. And then Logan takes the protective role of :3
Ashlyn with a tap/acro dancer, friendly competition of different dance styles. Or a martial artist, I say this because if you’ve ever been in a dance studio that does multiple styles, the friendly beef is CRAZZYYY
Ben with either really short chaotic reader or a reader who’s taller then him and is the dad friend, bro is prepared for everything^2
Tyler with a Shakespeare quoting theatre kid, overly flirty and all (with consent ofc) they’re so gay for eachother
I literally can’t view Taylor dating someone who’s masc, but best ship I think is girlboss (Taylor) X girl failure, like fem reader is clumsy, bad at school, but in phantom realm? She’s the one hunting the phantoms down
Aiden… GOD AIDEN WITH A CHILDHOOD FRIEND HE TRIED TO MIMICK? BC HE WAS JUST SO COOL, AND AIDEN WANTED TO BE COOL LIKE HIM??? AUGHHH
no idea if this is a request, i assume not. but i’ll involve this with the misc list since i throw in my own ideas and a whole ass rant.
LOGAN. sunshine x cerberus would be the funniest thing ever because it reminds me of rodrick heffley. so lots of bonus points if goth older brother is a HUGE tease and does music. i feel like it’d be fun for goth!reader and aiden vs tyler with that personality i’m going for. just imagining goth laughing and encouraging taylor to record them; even provoking aiden and tyler when they’re all grumpy. but side effect: VERY IGNORANT PERSON if they were not involved with the phantom world, they would tease logan about the whole thing; even in public. which would cause serious problems like accidentally outing them and causing suspicions. if they were involved with the phantom world, they would react the same way tyler did but start a whole argument with tyler using tons of different insults. (bonus: actually very loving towards logan. does not care if their teasing goes too far but would protect logan with his fucking life.)
ANOTHER BONUS! in the band au, goth!reader would def help logan with his eyeliner (only did it when he noticed how half-assed logan’s make up was.)
ASH. at first, would most likely find the competition weird. if you made playful competitive jokes when you first meet her, she’d most likely be confused with your tone. are you making fun of her? are you trying to fight? are you joking? honestly kind of like another aiden x ashlyn if he was a dancer.. turns into a taylor x ash dynamic if we make this competitive little fella a good comforter. that’s absolutely adorable. at some point ash will find the playfulness easing her; sometimes irritated when you accuse her of “cheating” in the playful competition which is… most definitely not possible. if sbg were to be a musical, just imagine these two having a song where ash has to keep up with tap/acro dancer; most likely a “the other side” from the greatest showman type of song ngl.
BEN. would have such a fun personality if there was another dude who was way taller and was more of a dad figure. huge idol for ben honestly. yk the scene where ash compliments him for his good “first aid skills” or wtv and he blushes? imagine him always blushing everytime dad friend!reader compliments him or pats him on the head telling him that he did such a good job and that he’s proud. ben would hate showing his anger issues more towards dad friend!reader because he feels something in him that he doesn’t want to disappoint dad friend!reader. when they first met, he’d be way more timid because i like to think dad friend!reader would be a yapper but more of a calm one. would find it absolutely awkward being around dad friend!reader but finds so much comfort when dad friend!reader does something father-like (finds himself agreeing with dad friend!reader a lot and mindlessly following him while also throwing in his ideas.)
BONUS: picks up random habits that dad friend!reader does
TYLER. would find it absolutely ridiculous if a kid were to quote Shakespeare to him. but get this guy in a grumpy mood and tell him a shakespeare quote him? now you’re just being annoying. THOUUGHHHHH this guy seems to be keeping those words? oh m ygod just imagine reader getting upset and he pulls up with a shakespeare quote and he gets all shy when you tease him because he just gave out that he thinks of you when he sees ANY quote at all. proceeds to say “it’s just a one time thing” but uses quotes you have said to him to motivate him in the phantom world.
TAYLOR. she SCREAMSSSSS bisexual in denial. just imagine her blushy face when she sees how strong reader is in the phantom world, constantly defending her n shit. bandaging her own brother can be hard, but bandaging you??? YOU????? WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO DO WITH HER?? MARRY HER??? BECAUSE SHE ISN’T SAYING NO!! just imagine ash having to divide the group for a plan and taylor immediately volunteers to go with you because holy shit. shy clumsy girl who’s good in fighting? no need for more info, she NEEDS that number. just imagine taylor teasing you and when you get all blushy and laughy, she sees your face and turns into a TOMATO. despite you being the clumsy one, she feels like she’s the clumsy one around you; becoming uncoordinated and messy when she sees you wipe a bloody nose and breathe heavily. bonus points if shy clumsy girl actually did martial arts and has a uniformed (person in the army) father who is HELLA STRICT WITH HER. more bonus points if the shy clumsy girl is actually really slim and her body aches after experiencing high amount of adrenaline
this is very self projecting because im literally describing myself. sorry guys.
btw just imagine being the clumsy girl and running into taylor in a garage where she’s wearing a white tank top with oil all over. ohMY RHAOJCOCJOWWMOANSODMDDJQOWMSODMDO HELDOFOPSPWP
AIDEN. huge angst here idc i love aiden angst! just imagine his childhood friend being aiden’s BIGGEST friend but suddenly lost all contact when they moved houses, and aiden just loved them so much he thinks of them everyday; doing things that his friend would’ve done and likes videos that reminds him of them. despite him learning to be able to live without them, he has so much loyalty for them. just to run into them at the school and seeing that they refuse to interact with him until they were forced into the group bc of that TEACHER. huge slowburn due to their unknown want to avoid from aiden. bonus points if aiden tries to push them (like how he was pushy the first few eps) by reminding them of things they used to do when they were kids or showing them things that remind him of their childhood.

Friend was making me watch dance moms and I was relieving my ballerina days so here’s an ASOIAF dance studio AU for the soul
-Sansa is definitely one of the best at her studio she is the Lyrical queeennnn. One of the few competition dance girls who trains in ballet and is actually good at it. She doesn’t have insane flexibility but her technique is peak and she’s great at turn sequences. Always very consistent and stable. Gets mad when they have hip hop pieces cause she’s not good at it. Likes recitals more than competitions because she can do ballet more, tends to like the French style. Hair always sprayed and smoothed into a perfect bun even if she’s just going to class, not a single flyaway to be seen. Keeps a neat dance bag that she keeps her entire life in.
-Arya is only in there because Cat thought it would be cute to have the girls dance together. Immediately got proven wrong but she already paid for the full year so. DESPISES the slow ballet and contemporary pieces. Is a fucking prodigal jumper she can do switch leaps, ariels, toe touches, literally anything. Which means she likes the upbeat jazz and hip hop numbers wayyy more. Never has a neat bun it’s a miracle it can be tamed when she goes on stage. All of her tights have runs and rips up the sides. Stains on her leotard. Brings a Gatorade to class instead of a water and gets yelled at for it. Hides in the bathroom during ballet class.
-Dany has pretty good technique, nothing standout, but makes up for everything with her energy and facials. She’s got definite potential, but is unrefined. Pretty muscular and short because she used to do gymnastics. Really likes to try anything. Ballet, lyrical, jazz, contemporary, acro, hip hop, truly everything. Consistently places third in competitions, which pisses everyone else off because they think her technique isn’t very strong, and pisses her off because she wants to place first for once. Is currently working her ass off at the barre to focus on her basic technique, is improving at a rapid pace. Dance bag smells like actual ass, you can find probably anything in there though. Doesn’t wear any padding in her pointe shoes bc she’s kind of a psychopath.
-Marg is the top girl 100% she’s the teachers favorite. Every lead role and center position is hers. Sansa’s biggest competition but they’re such good friends and so nice to each other neither of them really cares. Focuses mostly on a slower Russian style of ballet, perfect for her long legs and arms. Every move is just so intentional and perfectly placed, she flows so well from step to step. Definitely is getting countless offers from academies, professional companies, and summer programs. Alwaysss has the cutest most expensive leotards and skirts. Makes sure to pull some of her curls out of her bun to frame her face. Makeup on during class that she somehow never sweats off. Usually super sweet but tends to be passive aggressive to other studios at competitions.
-Cersei who runs the rival studio, used to be a famous competition dancer, excelled at lyrical and contemporary. Makes all of her dancers take rigorous ballet, even if they’re just competition dancers, super adamant ab ballet as the basis for everything else. Notoriously insane with a hair trigger temper, but parents keep paying out the ass for her to train their kids because she produces results. Probably throws things if you fall out of a turn. Makes kids do pushups if they miss a step. Coddles Joff, Myrcella, and Tommen though, makes sure they always get good spots and roles. Jamie’s there to teach partnering sometimes but he always looks miserable and smells like cigarettes.
-Joffery is one of those insufferable tweens who gets special attention bc he’s a guy, a rare species in the dance world. But what’s even more infuriating is that he’s really good. Great flexibility, and focuses on big jumps and turns like most male ballet dancers do. Genuinely an enrapturing performer but never has any patience for his pas de deux partners, blames it on her if she gets dropped. A mean gay but no one’s really sure if he’s gay or not. Has a posse of tween girls that make fun of everyone not in their clique. Makes snide comments at the barre. Ridiculously cocky even when he falls out of his turns. Barges into the girls dressing room without asking. Demon child.
Bonus: Robb who has to take it because the football team needs to work on their balance or whatever. Really enjoys it actually and will defend it when Theon calls it gay. But don’t ask Theon why he kept staring every time Robb started stretching at the barre

Okay, I finally watched the DanDaDan anime (manga reader here). My initial thoughts:
1) I’m weirdly annoyed that the anime changed “all out” to “full throttle”.
2) I’m not used to Aira’s cutesy, high-pitched voice. In my head, she sounded more like an airheaded popular girl, like Glinda from Wicked. Not gonna lie, I don’t really like it. I will say though that I liked the moment where we hear Aira’s “real voice”.
3) They nailed my dawg Jiji. But I guess there was only one way to do the character anyways (annoying himbo). EDIT: Okay, one complaint! The animators kinda chickened out in making him look derpy. He’s way more handsome in the anime, while in the manga, there’s straight up panels where it looks like something is wrong with him lol.
4) It goes without saying that they nailed Momo and Okarun.
5) I think my overall problem with the adaptation is that it’s missing some of the personality from the manga. Admittedly, this is probably me being biased since I read the manga and I’m not really into animation in general. But from my perspective, some of the humor and wit is lost in seeing the scenes actually be animated. It’s hard to describe, but when I’m watching the show, the scenes just don’t come off as funny or as impactful as the manga. It’s the same feeling I got from the Spy x Family anime, there was just something lost in the change in mediums. Sorry y’all, that’s just my perspective.
6) That being said, while I prefer the manga overall, the Acro Silky backstory was done better in the show.
7) The cliffhanger was basically the studio telling you to read the manga lol (which you should!)

what are some of the magical girl shows coming out soon that you know of? which are you looking forward to and which do you think you might skip?
Here's a list of upcoming magical girl works from last summer, the earliest are already out but to my knowledge it's pretty accurate for the future.
My take on the list:
The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies - my closing thoughts are here
Mermaid Magic - might watch at some point but it's not a high priority
Acro Trip, Magilumiere Magical Girls Inc, The Story of the Girl Who Couldn’t Become a Wizard - currently watching, I'll write my thoughts once they end
Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie - must watch, though it'll probably take a while for it to be available since it's a movie
Mahou Tsukai Precure: Mirai Days - definitely watching this one too
Princess Session Orchestra - contains idols which is extremely meh to me, but otherwise appears mahou enough for my tastes and the designs are great, so looking forward to this
Winx Club - probably won't watch, unless I get motivated to watch all of the winx franchise
Project Symphogear Next - idols + character designs too mecha + haven't seen anything else from this franchise = skip for me, but maybe I'll check it out one day
Hua Xianzi: Zhi Mofa Xiang Dui Lun - I know very little about Chinese animation or the original Lun Lun so dunno about this one
Studio Pierrot’s new anime - seems like idols again...
Lolirock season three - haven't seen the previous two seasons so I'd have to watch them first. Wait this has idols too??
Magic Knight Rayearth revival - definitely watching this one
Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card season two - I haven't seen any CCS anime and didn't particularly like the manga, though I feel like I'll get to it at some point
Magical Girl holoWitches - cute designs, but streamers/vtubers as a theme is about as appealing to me as idols. Might take a look depending on what kind of format this will be.
Ojamajo Doremi 16-20’s - I think it's still unknown what format this will be? In any case I'd prefer to finish watching all the original Doremi anime first.
Also:
Kimi to Idol Precure - idols again... but I'll watch it
A second season for Magical Girl Raising Project has been announced ages ago and it's the anime I'm looking forward to the most on this post, but I'm not too hopeful on it coming out soon (if ever...) since things have been so quiet on that front
I'll also watch the Panty & Stocking sequel, though its schedule is also unknown.

N. Hischier - It’s My Footwork

Warnings: none?
I apologize for any typos. There’s only so many times one can read through 4 thousand words before dying inside.
—————————————
Ever since I was two, I have loved music. I blame my mother. When I was four, I saw ballerinas for the first time. My mom took me to see the Nutcracker at our local theatre. I fell in love with music all over again, but more importantly, I fell in love with dance.
I’ve danced my whole life. Ballet and Acro had been my favorite classes, but I took others. It was expensive, but my family had no issue paying for it. I consider myself lucky to have had the opportunities I did growing up. Because of that gratefulness, it fueled my dream to become a dance instructor on my own one day.
I opened my studio in the heart of New Jersey. Business was slow at first, but I had classes open for all capable ages. I loved meeting the kids and even the adults who came in curious to learn or pick up a therapeutic hobby. I was never one to offer solo classes unless it was for a child who was new and needed to catch up with their age group. But I made one exception.
The bell to my studio rang, barely audible from the room I was in. I heard a deep voice speaking to my best friend who worked at the front desk. We met through her job application. Within the year she’d been hired, we got a sizable apartment together, and I’ve loved every second of our time spent with one another.
“She’s in the back. We just had a class end.“
I’ve had parents come in before about a late payment, or more commonly, bullying that I could only so much about. I assumed that’s all it was.
As I stepped out of the studio room and into the lobby, I was met with the face of a man I had never seen before. His sharp features, thick brows and dark hair was unrecognizable. If he had a daughter or son, they certainly took after their mother in appearance.
“Can I help you?” I spoke up, smiling at the man as I crossed the floor to meet him, leaning against the tall front desk.
“I was.. I need some help?” The man sounded confused, and his furrowed brow only solidified my theory. His eyes darted between my friend and I, as if waiting for one of us to offer something- though we didn’t know what that was.
“You wanna dance?” My friend piped up, a condescending tone in her voice. She dealt with men who were too prideful to admit what they were doing there before. She had no patience for them. This one though, seemed nothing like that. Especially when I watched his eyes go wide and a nod follow. He looked relieved.
“We have different types, was there something specific you were looking for?” I try to sound nicer than my friend.
“Something.. maybe- something with strength? Or endurance. And stamina?” His accent was thick compared to an American one, and the words he used made me wonder where he’d come from. He was either looking for something incredibly specific, or trying to sound smart.
“I have ballet. It’s difficult, but it’s good on muscles. It helps strengthen your legs. Can you do some paperwork for me?” The man nodded and I looked toward my friend. She quickly handed over a clip board and a pen, which I handed off to the man. He mumbled a polite, ‘thank you,’ and took a seat to fill it out.
I watched him for the fifteen minutes it took to fill out the pages. He wore a t-shirt of the city’s hockey team, something that I found normal considering we operated in the middle of the area. There were bound to be fans. My gaze studied his posture, but at some point it shifted to the way his dark hair fell and framed his face while he leaned over the paperwork. I smiled at the sight of batting eyelashes and the way his brow would knit together every so often at something he had to think of before answering. He was handsome.
Once he finished, the man brought the paperwork back and handed it over. I looked over the basic information before my gaze turned up to him. The man’s lips were pursed as he looked rather impatient. Or was he anxious?
“Okay, Nico. We have classes for your age group on Thursdays at five-“
“No!” His outburst caused both myself and my friend to look at him in shock. “I’m sorry- it’s just… it’s for personal reasons. I need this for work, and- I don’t work well with..” I watched his expression shift into one of embarrassment, and his hand wave in a dismissive way. “People.” A blatant lie.
“Uh huh,” I immediately slapped my friend’s shoulder when she piped up.
“Jessie, please.” I tried to calm her down, but she shook her head.
“It’ll only be for a few months.. I know I’m asking a strange thing, but it would help greatly.” I’ll blame it on his looks, and the desperation in his tone. I gave in to the man’s request with a reluctant nod. Who was I to ask what his job was? If he needed it that badly, I wouldn’t turn him down. I was helping somebody, I was sharing what I loved, and there was still money involved.
“Better put an extra ten bucks on his bill.” Jessie commented as she looked back to her computer. The man made no effort to argue, but I still let out an exasperated sigh.
“Jessie!”
——
We compromised on Sundays. Nico said those were most likely to be the days he would consistently have off. I still didn’t know what he did, but he told me his schedule was often sporadic. Jessie thought it funny to suggest adult films. Saying his reluctance to work with others was merely out of anxiety not to be noticed. I told her she was crazy.
Sundays were my least busiest days. I was at the studio alone for the first few hours before Jessie came in. By the time she was heading out for lunch, Nico was just stepping in. And I took note of the way he held the door for her. And the way she still wasn’t ready to give in to the idea that he might just be a good person. Nico had on a pair of black shorts, which I was thankful for considering we hadn’t discussed the dress code or what was best for ballet.
My expression nearly dropped when I realized the absolute shit show I was about to experience. Teaching a grown man ballet on my own. One who was tall, and decently built. I’d handled this type in classes before. They usually ended up needing six feet on every side so they wouldn’t hit or kick somebody. My gaze travelled to notice he was wearing a similar shirt to the one from the week before. This one was white with a tiny thirteen on one of the shirt sleeves. So he had a favorite player.
“Kick your shoes off and follow me.” I heard the light clutter of two shoes hitting the floor before Nico followed. “Are you flexible? At all?” I stepped into the studio, the man following behind before I pushed the door halfway closed. Safety was always a concern of mine. When working with kids, or working solo with random men. The door was never entirely shut.
“A bit?” Nico’s response left me at a loss. Guess we’ll find out.
“What do you like to listen to, Nico?” I made my way across the room to the small table against the wall. I grabbed my phone and looked back at him with expectant eyes.
“Swiss rap?” He was clearly testing the water, a nervous smirk upon his lips.
“Try again.”
“ABBA is fine.” I nodded, going to pull up an album full of ABBA’s greatest hits. ‘Does Your Mother Know’ came on over the few speakers in the room. When my gaze lifted to this man, I almost lost my composure. Tall, dark and handsome liked ABBA.
“Come on,” I managed a quiet giggle as I set my phone down. Nico met me in the middle of the floor. “We’re gonna stretch. That’s step one. Just do what I do.”
Nico struggled with understanding a few stretches, but each time I explained it a little slower, or helped him contort his body in whatever form it was supposed to be in. I heard a few ‘Jesus Christ’s’, but it only made me laugh. And each time I glanced at him in the mirror, it seemed my laughter fueled a bit of his own.
The few times I had to actually touch Nico, I relished in the firmness of his muscles, and the hilariously hopeless look in his eyes while he tried to understand what I was doing.
An hour passed before I felt like I had a good gauge of his flexibility. He was stretchier than I would have assumed, and it brought me some relief to know his body was at least flexible enough for ballet. The real question was, did he have grace and rhythm?
I spent the next hour explaining basics and getting Nico further out of his shell. When it came time to actually try a few things, I remained as patient and kind as humanly possible. Until I could no longer control myself.
“I don’t understand! You’re not making this easy!” Nico’s distressed but amused voice filled the studio along with my own laughter. I was hunched over with my hands on my knees, watching him through squinting eyes as he stood in the most awkward position I may have ever seen. He looked like a three year old. “Tell me again!”
I loved that no matter how many times he didn’t understand, Nico insisted to retry it. He liked the challenge. Over the few moves we did get down, I learned that he had a nice core strength and great control over his own body. And maybe a little bit of grace. After I came to terms with that, I threw adult film making completely out the window. He was in another business. I just didn’t know which one.
“I think maybe ballet is not for you.” I teased as I stood upright, making my way over to the amused but nonetheless frustrated man. “You’re so-“ I tried to put my finger on a word. “You move like a child.” And I knew why. Because he had no prior experience. Nico’s eyes went wide as his jaw dropped and his lips turned upward into a smile.
“What is it? What specifically is it?” Nico insisted I tell him, but there were too many things to possibly name one.
“It’s my footwork?” The question was phrased as a statement, and I was quick to nod. He hit one of the many nails on the head.
“Well then what would you suggest instead? I need this to help with my footwork.” He dropped the hint, but I stored it in my mind for later.
“I don’t even know what to suggest. I guess we just try again.” I shrugged and smiled, incredulous. That’s what I did with the kids.
Try and try again, fail and fail a little less. Nico slowly began to catch on, though I relentlessly teased him when he failed. He took it like a true champ. I never noticed when Jessi came back from lunch, or that I had missed my own. Or that Nico had been there a lot longer than he was supposed to be. Until Jessi gave a gentle knock at the door and opened it to inform me of the well overdue departure of my new friend, or student.
——
It continued like that for weeks, Nico coming in on Sundays, greeting Jessie before she left for lunch, and joining me in the studio with a bright smile. As his visits came and went, I could tell Jessie was growing comfortable with him. And I could say the same for myself. Nico was so kind, and incredibly personable. I enjoyed not only the moments when he stumbled over a dance, but also the moments when we took breaks to sit and talk. Or when he needed help with a word or two. I learned he spoke German, and very good English, but when it came to the French of ballet, his accent did not do it justice. We often giggled over the way he pronounced things.
As the first month passed, I began to feel the dread of losing him. While also coming to terms with my feelings for him. Nico was just getting good. Good enough even that I could dance with him. But I remembered him saying it was only a few months. I still didn’t have a specific number, but I didn’t want to lose him. By the second month, I went into each Sunday with dread that he might not even show up. Or that he might randomly call and cancel.
This particular Sunday afternoon, I got a message saying that he had to miss out on our lesson for work. I told him it would be fine, that I’d miss him and we could reschedule. An hour later I got a text back saying, ‘you can come visit me at work?’ And another after, ‘Jessie can come too :)’ he knew how much I loved Jessie. He even enjoyed her snarky behavior from time to time.
I was given an address, and perhaps at that point I should have known where we were headed. But it hadn’t dawned on me until Jessie was flustered searching for a parking spot in the middle of traffic and crowds of people, that we were attending a hockey game.
“Fuck. Jess we don’t have tickets?” It was the first thing that crossed my mind. I didn’t think Nico was a player, or maybe he was. But the bottom line was that we weren’t getting in without tickets.
“He sent them to me.” My brow furrowed in confusion, peering at Jessie with a lost look until brow shot up in realization.
“You’re in on this?” I almost shouted, but I got no response as we pulled into a parking garage. “This is why I was supposed to dress nice? God- to a hockey game? Where there‘s beer and food everywhere?”
I wasn’t wearing anything particularly fancy. Only my favorite leather jacket and a pair of white jeans, matched up with a faded grey band shirt. My converses matched the black of my jacket, and my silver jewelry was the icing on the cake. Especially my rings, which I’d always loved.
“We have good seats. I think we’ll be fine.” Jessie’s nonchalance about the entire situation had me in disbelief from the moment we got out of the car, to the time we entered the arena. It was busy, full of life. I had no problem with crowds, but this was an entirely new situation. I was lost in more ways than one.
“We’re gonna miss warmups if you keep gawking.” The sound of people talking filled my ears, along with the shouted offers of men trying to sell alcohol. Kids excited and screaming.. some girl going on about a boy named Jack Hughes. I feel like I met a Jack once? With light brown hair and too much energy for my taste. And he had a drawl in his voice that caused his words to sound slurred or unfinished. God I hated it. But he was nice.
“Warmups?” I did not understand the concept, but I allowed Jessie to drag me through the stadium nonetheless. We found an usher who helped us to our seats, and with each step down the case that led us closer to the ice, I felt my stomach turning. The atmosphere was electric. It had me excited for a sport I knew nothing about. Once we got to our seats, I discovered they were right next to the tunnel one of the teams came out of. My body was buzzing, my hand absentmindedly gripping Jessie’s arm for dear life.
“Unhand me before I kick you,” Jessie threatened, prying my hand from her arm. At one point I looked up at the Jumbotron, realizing that whatever warmups were, they happened in fifteen minutes.
Fifteen minutes later, I heard people screaming and shouting, erupting into cheers and boos as the team that wasn’t ours, entered the ice. Soon the New Jersey team did follow. The Devils. And I began to second guess my theory that Nico was a player with each face I watched leave the tunnel. I noticed the Jack boy, comparable to a jack russel terrier from the way he bounced down the hall and onto the ice. Then the last body, clad in a red jersey, and those thick eyebrows, I noticed Nico. Holy shit… Captain Nico.
“Nico!” My voice erupted with pride as I shot out of my seat. That was my dancer. My Swiss weirdo who listened to ABBA and loved Meryl Streep. It seemed he recognized my voice, or maybe he was only looking to see we made it. His lips turned up into that smile I loved so much, and I reached forward to bang on the glass like everybody around me. I never liked sports, but I certainly had the aggression and thrill to be a fan. Me excitement made him laugh, extending his stick to tap the glass where I was before skating by.
Jessie had her head in her hands, trying not to be seen by literally anybody else.
“Jessie! This is- oh my god!” I had no words. Of course I had no words. And I was lost for them for the entire game. Aside from Nico’s name, incoherent screaming, and any word that fell from my lips when the refs made any call against the Devils. Which were usually profanities.
Nico had two assists through the game, and a goal in the third period. It was an empty netter, but I was prideful all the same. The goal horn erupted seconds later, signaling the end of the game. I jumped up like everyone else, and I watched him dig the puck out of the net. I wondered what Nico was up to until I saw him skate toward the boards on the other side of the ice. He flipped the puck off his stick and right over the boards. My heart melted as some kid snatched up the rubber object and smiled.
I loved sharing my craft with young generations. It seemed Nico did as well. People began to clear out, but I noticed a bulk staying. I didn’t know why until the lights dimmed and the three stars of the night were announced. The third was Jack. The second, the opposing team’s player. The first, Nico.
“What a brilliant game played by your team tonight. I’m sure you’re all buzzing with excitement?” The announcer sounded as jovial as the rest of the crowd, who had barely finished cheering for their captain by the time he began speaking.
“It was an amazing game. We played well.. remained on our feet.. we did good.” I could sense Nico’s determination from here. His pride in himself, but more importantly his team, radiated.
“Now, after you came back from your leg surgery, there were a lot of questions about your skating ability. Can you tell us how that affected your gameplay?”
“It was.. it was hard. I don’t like to listen to what people say. It’s not always great for your mentality. But- I worked hard and, I’d like to think I persevered.” He must be used to this.
“What did you do to fix that? Your first two games back, there was definitely some weakness in your left leg there. But now you look like a racehorse on the ice. How did you manage to change that?”
A smile formed on Nico’s lips. He looked like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar. “I had somebody help me. She uhm.. she helped with my leg strength and balance and- all the edgework.”
Edgework. Footwork. That little shit. It was right under my nose the whole time! His shirts, his number- it sounded horrible, but even his nationality should have tipped me off. How many Swiss hockey fans did someone just randomly meet in New Jersey? Of all places.
“Did she get paid well for accommodating the captain of the New Jersey Devils?” The reporter asked with a playful grin.
“Yes, and an extra ten per hour.” Nico laughed.
“You really charged him that extra ten?” I whipped my head in Jessie’s direction. She was caught red handed.
“He wanted to!”
“She’s gonna get a kiss after this though.” I almost missed it. Trying to scold Jessie, I almost didn’t catch the comment Nico made. But I did catch it. And my head immediately whipped back to him on the ice. The reporter was in the midst of congratulating him one last time on his game before Nico walked off down the tunnel.
“Jessie-“ my best friend was already laughing, swatting at my leg from where she was seated. “What do we do? We should leave.” She shook her head at me.
I wasn’t running from Nico, I was just nervous. “I should go to the bathroom..” she nodded at me, allowing me to run off up the endless flights of steps and navigate my way through the crowd to find the bathroom. I checked my makeup in the mirror, my legs feeling like jelly at the disbelief of what was to come. I had to have heard him wrong. I adjusted my shirt eighty times, and even thought about leaving before ultimately deciding I could not steal Jessie’s car. I wanted to kiss him. Of course I did. It’s all I wanted.
When I got back from the bathroom, most everybody was gone, and Jessie was still seated in her place, feet up against the glass with her arms across her chest. When I returned to her side, she smiled at me.
“Hold my phone while I go to the bathroom?” I nodded, taking her phone from her and slipping it into the pocket of my leather jacket before zipping it up.
Jessie was gone in a flash, and I was left staring out at the ice, bouncing from one foot to another before I heard my name. I turned quickly, looking at the figure practically sprinting down the steps.
We both had the same thing in mind. I heard Nico’s comment, and he had that piercing determined look in his eyes. By the time he reached me, he was holding his arms out- possibly for a hug. That’s not what I wanted though.
“Can I-“
I gave him all the permission he needed by crashing our lips together. Nico tasted like cocoa pebbles, and I had to pull away to mumble something about the sweetness before he giggled and reconnected our lips. His hands held my cheeks, and mine his hips. By the time we pulled away again, we were both heaving for air. Nico more so than myself considering the marathon he ran down the steps to get to me.
“I had a snack during the second intermission.” It was like he could read my mind, answering my unspoken question while our foreheads pressed together. We smiled and laughed.
“Of course you did,” I responded softly, pulling back to shake my head at him.
Nico giggled with a nod. “Are you hungry? I could use a date to my celebration tonight.”
“Yeah.. but I’m gonna need some explanation on all this.” I gestured back to the rink, earning a laugh from him.
“Anything you want to know.”
Nico and I made our way back up the steps together, meeting Jessie at the top where she had been waiting for us.
“So.. she’s yours for the night?” Jessie asked, earning a fist bump from Nico. My brow furrowed in concern that this entire plan went over my head.
“I’ll have her back by twelve.” Nico promised as he snaked an arm around my hip. I melted into his side.
“Eleven, Romeo. Or I’ll track you down on snap map and fist fight you in a fancy restaurant.”
Nico mumbled a quiet, ‘oh boy’ before nodding.
We were not back by ‘curfew.’ Hell I never even went home, but I shot Jessie a message when Nico let me into his own place, informing her that I was safe and Nico would keep me company for the night. She sent me back an emoji with a hand over the mouth. Then one saying, ‘updating Facebook status to Aunt.’

House of the Dragon (Dance Moms Au)
AN: This is based off of a fever dream i had while adjusting to my new anxienty meds, good luck.
The Targaryens had a long line of success within the world of dance, some even considered them royalty. Many flocked to the studios that they would dance at, though they had danced at the same studio since they were 2. Alicent Targaryen, nee Hightower is a real dance mom, and she loved her children equally.
Interview with Alicent Targaryen (Mother of Aegon, Daeron, Aemond, Y/N and Helaena Targaryen):
Alicent (31): “My children have danced with Criston Lee Cole since they were babies, and we never lose.”
Aemond (7): “I am the best, sorry.” (Clearly, he was not sorry.)
Helaena (8): “I just like the sparkly costumes.” (Queen of not giving a shit.)
Daeron (6): *Isn’t here. *
Aegon (9): “I don’t really care, I don’t try, but I win anyway.” (Unbothered.)
Y/N (9): “I hate being here, but I’m the best at what I do.” (Does Jazz hands, with no facial expression.)
Alicent: “We are on Criston’s competition team, and we love being here.” (Clearly, she does not love being here.)
Rhaenyra Strong, nee Targaryen had danced at Criston’s studio when she was a young girl. Her sons have made quite the name for themselves in the dance world, and she supported them all the way. She just wants to see them dance.
Interview with Rhaenyra Strong (Mother of Jace, Luke, Joffrey and Visenya.):
Rhaenyra (30): “We are all just so excited to be here.” (Looks like death.)
Jace (8): “I will be the next James Cordon, no one wants to see me but I’m always there.” (Seems to be giving up on life.)
Luke (7): “I really love my mom.” (Puppy dog eyes.)
Joffrey (6): “I like dance.” (No thoughts, head empty.)
Visenya (6): “Yall already know who I am, my names Visenya and I’m the best jumper on the team.” (Crazy Topher eyes.)
Rhaenys Velaryon, nee Baratheon was dance royalty when she was a coach for Criston’s studio. She decided to step down from her position when her children were born.
Interview with Rhaenys Velaryon (Mother of Laena and Laenor Velaryon):
Rhaenys (42): “My children are the dancers that they are because of me.” (Very proud of herself.)
Laena (9): “I am the duet master.” (Smug.)
Laenor (8): “My sister is insane.” (Looks around as if she would appear.)
Rhea Royce, divorced mother of 2, devoted Christian and very vocal about all of her thoughts. Pro guns and Pro-choice, she just thinks everyone should be dead.
Interview with Rhea Royce (Mother of Rhaena and Beala):
Rhea (28): “My girls love dance, and I want them to be happy.” (Sincere.)
Beala (7): “My mother is the best mom ever.” (Honest.)
Rhaena (6): “I love doing Acro and tricks.” (No thoughts, head empty.)
-Monday 13:54-
The mothers and their children enter the studio at the same time, almost rehearsed. Alys is sat at the front desk, shuffling through the papers that have slowly been piling up on the surface. Alys was the choreographer for Criston’s studio. She prided herself in being the best and producing the best dances.
The children all love her.
Interview with Alys (choreographer):
Alys (21): “I love working with the kids, I don’t love working with Criston though, he’s insane.”
She smiles up at them as they pass the desk. “Good afternoon, ladies, hi kids.” A chorus of responses floods the room, they all head to get changed and the mothers to help their kids. However, Alicent stops at the desk.
“Good afternoon, Alys.” the words are soft, tender. A soft smile plays upon her lips, she has always been kinder than the other mothers.
Alys smiles in response, “Hi,” she too has a tender smile upon her face. Alicent doesn’t linger too long before she heads back to help her kids get ready to dance.
-14:30-
“Kids get in here!”
The children flock towards the voice, Criston is stood at the front of the room, by the mirrors. On the mirrors, photos making a pyramid.
The mothers walk in after them standing to the side of the room. “Time for pyramid,” a sinister smirk appears upon Criston’s face, the children shudder with fear.
“On the bottom of the pyramid,” he removes the page covering the photo, “Jace, you fell out of your turns and boggled the pirouettes, I’m just glad that the judges were looking at Aegon and not at you.” Jace lowers his head in shame.
“Next, Rhaena, your jumps were slow, and your timing was off half the time.”
Rhaena too looks to the ground, unable to meet Criston’s eyes. “Next, Laenor, you missed half a step, I’m disappointed. Next, Joffrey, you didn’t stick out to me. Next, Beala, you were good, I’m waiting for you to be great.”
Criston starts revealing the next row, “Luke, you were cute, but we don’t want cute, we want compelling. Next, Helaena, you did good. Next, Laena, your turns were good, but you had sickled feet. Next, Visenya, you did the best jumps, very nice.” The children who were yet to be revealed what spots they received seem much more at ease now.
“Next, Aemond, you did what was expected, good job. Next, Y/N, you were the female lead, and you exceeded my expectations. And at the top of the pyramid, Aegon.”
Aegon does not react to this at all, because Aegon doesn’t care. “This week the group routine is intitled: Dance of the Royals, it is about a family at war over who gets the throne now that the king is dead. There will be two sides of this ‘war’ the greens and the blacks. Each side has a lead dancer who together will almost be preforming a duet in the midst of the ‘war’. Aegon, you will lead the green side, Y/N you will lead the black side. Then I also have 3 solos and one trio to give out.”
His eyes scan over them, “Aegon, Y/N, Aemond, you three have solos, as you are at the top of the pyramid. Laena, Beala and Helaena you are in the trio, the trio is called: Pigs and Us, it is about the struggles of being a woman in this world. It is contemporary, and very emotional. Aegon your solo is called: The Taker, it is jazz, and it is about the benefits that society give men but deny women. Aemond, your solo is titled: God’s Eye, it is contemporary, it is about a battle between two warring souls. Y/N your solo is titled: Dry-eyed and Docile, it is a ballet solo, and it is about a young girl who is taken from her life and married to a man much older than her. All the solos are designed to win, so you better win.”
The children are promptly dismissed to start learning the choreography.
-Upstairs: the mothers-
“Well, ladies, what’s new?” Rhea Royce, mother of two said enthusiastically. (AN: It took me several minutes of contemplation to figure out how to spell that, but that is mostly because I am an idiot.)
Alicent glanced over at Rhaenyra making an annoyed face, Rhaenyra covers her snickers by coughing. “I have decided that Luke, Jace and Joffrey will be taking a few extra privates this week and next week to help them out a little.” Rhea rolls her eyes.
Interview with Rhea (mother of Beala and Rhaena):
Rhea (28): “Rhaenyra will do anything in her power to give her kids extra help, its not right. Now, my little Beala, she would thrive with some extra privates.”
-Mothers-
“That’s wonderful, I bet they’ll appreciate that.” Alicent smiled at Rhaenyra.
Rhea rolled her eyes once more, “Yes, I’m sure.” She pauses briefly trying in vain to regain her composure. “What do you ladies think of the dances for this weekend?”
“Oh, I’m very excited, I love the idea for the group and the solos for my kids, I’m sure they are going to love it.” Alicent practically gushes.
Rhea, ever the bitch, rolls her eyes once more (AN: I can’t stop.) “Of course, you would be thrilled, three of your kids got solos and the other one got a part in the trio.”
“What is your problem?”
Rhaenys makes no comment on the inevitable fight, simply enjoying the show.
“My problem is that Criston clearly has favourites, and your kids are at the top of that list. He keeps giving them solos even though they can’t dance.” Rhea is yelling now.
Alicent looks at her for a moment before replying, “Sis- you better be joking.”
“I’m not joking, and I’m definitely not your sis, bitch.”
“Oooooooohhhhhh.” Fucking Rhaenyra, her best friend is about to fight someone and yet she jokes around.
“You better back the fuck up before you get smacked the fuck up hoe, because I’m not the one.” Rhea actually looks pretty intimidated; you would be too if there was a scary lady dressed in a green power suit willing and ready to beat your ass.
Rhea: 0
Alicent:1
Rhaenyra snickers again. “Haha,” that seems to hold a more mocking tone.
Alicent shoots her a look of disproval, Rhaenyra’s resolve seems to quickly fade upon meeting her gaze. “Sorry,” she mutters, clearly not sorry.
“Yeah, that’s what I thought.”  Alicent looks smug as ever.
-the children-
Aegon is doing pirouettes in the centre of the room, taking up so much space that everyone else has to dodge his feet in order to survive. He doesn’t seem at all bothered by the fact that Aemond keeps threatening him that if he doesn’t stop, he will shove his ballet shoe up Aegon’s rectum.
As Aegon continues to ignore his brother Jace makes his way over to Criston, “I’m sorry Mr Criston, but could you please tell Aegon to stop?”
Criston narrows his eyes towards the boy as he scrutinizes his choice of clothes. He straightens his posture before dropping down slightly to get close to Jace’s face. “Bother me again and I will kill you, you little twerp.” He whispers harshly to the literal child that he is beefing with.

On Christmas morning, a dance studio was destroyed in a 3-alarm fire in Los Alros, California. The roof collapsed and the building was completely destroyed.  https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/los-altos-el-camino-fire/3406574/?amp
Bay Area Dance School is not only a small business and a dance studio but also a safe space. With this fire, dozens of children who dance at the studio on a daily basis are being uprooted from the space where they find community, build discipline, and practice their craft. Our dance community is heartbroken this Christmas.
With the dance competition season around the corner, it's crucial that the dancers are able to continue training. The funds from this GoFundMe will go towards solidifying a temporary space for classes and rehearsals, building a safe studio (sprung floors, Marley, barres, acro mats, mirrors, etc), and covering all other capital expenditures of running a dance studio.
The Bay Area Dance School teachers are truly wonderful dance instructors and the most kindhearted, incredible people. They need all the assistance to rebuild, and no amount is too small. Thank you for your support!

oh no! that is so very sad. thank you for sharing. What an awful thing to happen on Xmas. I can only be thankful no one was in the building.

I am reluctant to show my face on tumblr these days just because there are so many crazy people who are itching for the opportunity to tell me I look inbred or trans or as if I have fetal alcohol syndrome or something (even though I most certainly do not).
But I WILL show y'all this super old selfie from 2016 because it's too damn funny NOT to share. My friends and I used to pretend that our shitty little rec studio had its own Dance Moms spinoff, and we would assign each other solos and make our own costumes and stuff. This was for my solo in the teen acro/ballet category, "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" 🤣

Please enjoy this photo of 15yo Doggy Ass in my parents' messy room 🤣

Arcane Competitive Dance AU
i dont think you realize that i CRAVE comp. dance au's down to the bone as a former comp. dancer so HERE IS MY BRAIN CHILD!!!
we start off pretty basic, with the City of Greater Piltover essentially split into two main area, New Piltover and Zaun. within the two main areas lies two dance studios, both well known and well loved in their respective communities. for the amount of time the studios have been open, the have had a sort of "rivalry" within it's leaders (dw the kids are mostly chill with eachother). this brings us to the main bones of the au!!
Zaun Dance Movement (ZDC)
run by co-owners and partners Vander and Silco Lane-Shimmerson
they do a lot of community work within Zaun since it's mostly lower class
they are known for their insane Hip Hop routines that are highly inspired by Zaunite break-dancing as well as their acro routines
they offer an affordability fund program for people who are interested in dance but the cost can be too high for the household
for the recreational program they offer the general classes such as ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, acro, musical theatre and open, as well as holding classes for adults, low-impact for the elderly, and adaptive movement for anyone with a mental or physical ability
they are known for being a family friendly and community based studio
has a KILLER fundraising team omg like genuinely so good they raise so much for comp season
Piltover Dance Corps (PDC)
founded by Cecil Himerdinger (trust me on this guys-)
owned currently by Cassandra Kiramman
they take a more intense look at dance, while still being family forward
"rich kid" studio
they put on a showing of the nutcracker every holiday season to raise funds for comp season
also has an affordability fund that's pretty good tbh
it definitely helps that Cass Kiramman is RICH so she puts a good amount of funds into it herself
they have a pianist come in for their ballet/pointe classes (just a fun fact tbh)
a good amount of their students go on to go professional later in life
known for their downright gorgeous ballet and tap programs
Overall facts I've put together!
contemp is NOT the shit you see on tv, it's what it originally was, the successor to the modern style idc what anyone says (please get rid of tv contemp y'all its legit lyrical you are doing lyrical-)
most if not all the main characters are in fact children/teens in this AU to have it make more sense just generally
vi is a hip hop/contemp girly ok
jinx is powders nickname/stage name and she is 100% a acro/musical theatre kid and you can pry that from my cold dead hands
ekko is a hip hop kid (as if you couldn't already see that coming lmao)
caitlyn is a lyrical/pointe girly bc you can't convince me she wouldn't LOVE the insane precision it takes seeing as she fucks with guns
jayce is a tap/hip hop boy bc i think he would adore the click clacks of tap shoes
mel is a lyrical/contemp to no ones suprise
dw guys viktor is in fact here hes just nerding out in the corner
he was dragged into the lane-shimmerson family ok
he's vi, claggor, milo and jinx's very supportive older brother who attends the adaptive movement class so he can give his siblings shit on their choreo
he is also the loudest mf in the audience (speaking from experience here 😅
sevika was also kicking and screaming and attempted to crawl her ass out of the fam dynamic and did NOT survive
love me some begrudging auntie sevika lmaooo
smeech is ZDM's tap teacher and him and jinx have BEEF
they are duking it out weekly frfr
vander and cassandra are chill owner to owner but cass and silco? they are each others biggest opp honestly
secret dating caitvi but they are only hiding it from silco and cassandra
jinx takes on isha as her adopted mini and its so cute
vi and deckard is a one sided rivalry with deckard thinking of vi as his rival and vi dgaf about this guy
we also get some good ole jaymelvik dating and timebomb crushing
please let me know if anyone wants more but this is like the bare bones of it lmaoooo

Circus "AU"
So I've had this in mind for *ages*, I love circus, I do circus elect at my school (mainly apparatus but I really wanna get into clowning) and I LOVEE Riordanverse. So obviously I had to combine the two.
In this "AU" basically everything's the same but CHB also has a circus program for... reasons! (+ New Rome has circus studios cause I said so)
Right now this is kinda just a thing for me to create art/one shots out of but I dunno, I do have specific apparatus/skills in mind for characters so this is gonna be a list of those + a tiny little bit at the end on how some of them got into it.
Nico - lollipop/lyra + stilts + groundwork/partner acro (haha what not self insert at all wdymmm)
Percy - BLUE aerial silks
Annabeth - rope + tech + hoops(manip)
Frank - clown + stilts (Nico used to do his makeup and tweaks whenever Frank's on stilts)
Hazel - groundwork/partner acro + unicycle
Reyna - aerial silks + lyra + standing trapeze + cube
Jason - tech + flying trapeze (prefers tech)
Leo - groundwork/partner acro + literally anything with fire, but like more specifically I had this idea for him where he has flower sticks but instead of tassels at each end it's flames
Thalia - standing trapeze + silk hammock
Will - groundwork/partner acro + flower sticks/plate spinning
Will randomly got REALLY into the idea of doing circus randomly and forced Nico and Leo to take classes with him (I'm a Soldezangelo TRUTHER). Nico got Hazel and Frank to join in. Nico, Leo and Will do trio floor work/acro skills together cause they're all around the same size, Leo's usually the flyer.
Uhm yeah, like I know this probably isn't an original thought but if this inspires you to make art I would love to be tagged because I love circus art!!
