Im just putting this out there to ACNL save editor people, additional unnamed rules in the editor

1. you have to have two empty grass plots looking of land on the map (i think replacing it with a pond / tiny stone map is okay but im not sure if its you need two grass or you need 8 or less river tiles)

2. you can move your dock despite there being no icon. wherever you move your island storage bin make sure its one below the yellow sand tile and the dock is (-1,+8) of the coordinates of your bin

Update on the DS makeover 😩 and some life updates 👍🏻

The hard shell cases I bought were for the new 3DS and mine is an older one so I had to return them. Plus the white full shell replacement I bought is kind of shit quality 😭

Nevertheless I have a new clear case coming in I can put stickers on and I’m going to put on the white shell anyway. I’ve highly considered buying a new DS for awhile so if I mess it up it’s fine lol

Anyway I’m applying for a new role at my company, working on my ACNL town with the save editor and just generally not logging into my PC very much. Feelin a little stressed ngl but it’s fine it will be fine!!!

been having a good day!! i've been knitting a sock (old wip) off and on and playing ACNL

and i finally found a cheat plugin that works for ACNL (it's called 'vapecord'). previously i was using a save editor with very limited capabilities. i used the plugin to unlock all the public works projects because literally the only ones i had unlocked was the dream suite (which is useless now that nintendo dropped support for the 3DS online stuff) and the garbage can. im not kidding

and also i made myself a VERY delicious lunch :3 i had sweet and spicy noodles with shrimp and veggies

the New 3DS item in ACNL Welcome Amiibo lets you use one of your patterns as a customization option. i haven't seen anyone mark out guidelines for this item, so here's an approximation i measured myself (while working on my own pattern)

note: if you want to have your pattern face where you open the system (like many real life 3DS patterns / coverplates) you'll probably have to draw said pattern upside down

since it's kinda hard to undo things in the game's pattern editor itself, i'd suggest you use Animal Crossing Pattern Tool (and maybe drawing it with pixel art tools of your choice before importing to there)

a while ago i heard that nintendo was gonna discontinue their 2ds/3ds support and eshop service soooo i decided to mod my 3ds!! and i was successful!!! now i have access to the entire library of 3ds games and more if you include nds and other emulator games heheh (☞ﾟヮﾟ)☞

and the best part of all......... cUSTOM THEMES!!! ✨

i also took advantage of the acnl save editor and made marshal a resident in my town!!! yESS finally childhood dream fulfilled!!!

honestly i'm just rly glad that my 3ds still works (only the charger ded but i managed to get a third party replacement) bc i haven't touched it in yEARS. it sucks that you can't buy one in the shop anymore. i'm actually tempted to grab another set (the pikachu 2ds tho 👀) from ebay or something before they are completely wiped from the market but eh i'll think about it a little more. i can only hope that my 3ds lives a long life bc there are so many 3ds exclusive games that i wanna play.

recently i had the most random urge to play zero escape: 999 and i found an online emulator for it bUT THE FEELING JUST WASN'T RIGHT.......

and cooking mama games??? sometimes i just wanna go for a nostalgia run but idk how those games will work without a touchscreen and stylus.

since i can now get any digital game i want, i decided to sell off almost my entire physical 3ds and nds game collection to free up storage space and recoup some money to fund other things. of course, i backed up all my save files from my physical cartridges beforehand and made sure they were properly transferred to the games that i'd downloaded digitally. the only games i kept were persona q2 (part of my p5 collection and also the very last 3ds game i got) and lux-pain (kinda rare?? and i like the artbook that came with it).

i did not expect that some of the games would fetch over $100 in the resale market??? wHY?? when modding exists??? physical game collectors are on another level O: anyway i lowballed myself in hopes of quicker deals and i got so many messages within the first hour of listing?? and it somehow became an auction situation with ppl trying to outbid one another lmaoo that was by far the most interesting carousell experience i've ever had.

for those who are interested in modding, pls use the written guide!! sometimes video guides miss out information/steps and screwing up can mean a bricked system. or if you are my irl friend you can just ask me to do it for you ;-)))

btw the game in the third pic is fantasy life!! it's a chill sandbox rpg with very cute graphics. there's an upcoming fantasy life game that was just announced for the switch and i'm hyped!!! but first,, i need to do something about the backlog

At this point I'm thinking of using the ACNL save editor for my current animal crossing new leaf town.

i've been playing acnl again now that i can use a save editor (mostly just to choose/place villagers i don't rlly care to cheat much) and it has been,, delightful

but i also restarted acnh with the intentions of making a pretty island instead of trying to play it Like An Animal Crossing Game and that's been really nice too

even beyond the villager interactions theres so much that was left behind or added in sloppily later. furniture, paintings, gyroids, brewster. villagers ping you just to ask you random questions sometimes, they let you schedule times for them to come over to your house. time travel isnt tied to your 3ds time, but is a seperate mechanic in the game save itself as it had been since the gamecube version. most of the main draws to new horizons (customization on the fly, moving buildings, changing the map, was actually lifted from the exact reasons people used save editors in acnl. and dropping a surprise major update 4 years after release is something that i find extremely hard to believe would happen in new horizons

I had been going back and forth with someone at /r/acqr about this design, so I too attempted as well as them.

By the way, AC:NH, where’s my camera flash option?! I’m going to have to setup a properly lighted room like in FFXIV aren’t I...

On a serious note:  The pro design editor takes some serious getting used to. I despise the limited options between clothing types. Considering that in real life, body pieces can be mixed and matched with the sleeve types and neither has to determine the other. 

The stretching is actually worse: it’s super aggressive about smoothing. For example, a 3x3 + turns into a ◆ which isn’t right at all and majorly limits the amount of details that can be placed as now you’re having to increase the size to make it even look remotely close.

The lost of stylus input sucks majorly but they’ve definitely considered the Switch’s interface resulting in surprisingly pleasant experience. The increase of color choices is a major plus. The mirrored drawing is another positive. AND THAT COLOR PICKER THAT CHANGES THE PAINT COLOR TO THE SELECTED ONE. Man. I love it. It makes things so, so, SO much faster.

All in all, ACNH’s pro design editor is no way replacing ACNL for me. I’ve been able to construct some serious detailed work in ACNL that I cannot see myself being able to do in ACNH in its current state.

Edit: I involved Nook’s tent because there was better lighting there.
