Going back to the idea of 141 protecting accused reader
Check CW in tags
Price collects the names of everyone involved. Who accused you, who took you in, questioned you and anyone who laid their hands on you. Although Kate had nothing to do with it, the Americans, those fucking shadows overstepped. The best Kate can hope for is to avoid a charge with aiding in a war crime. Joining Kyle in interviews to find out the specifics. Who was cruelest? Did anyone touch you sexually? Were you starved? Questions they knew would overwhelm you if prompted.
Once Price’s job is done, Kyle starts to collect all the intel with a simple name. Digging into the lives of everyone responsible for breaking you as well as their loved one. It doesn’t take Kyle long to start planting things to make their lives go nuclear. Evidences of affairs that were AI generated sent to the wives waiting back home with their husbands attached with apology letters from the mistress. Insisting that she didn’t know he was married and to please use this as evidence if she chooses to divorce him.
Simon is the judge, the jury and executioner. Most of the shadows steered clear after everything came to the surface that you were truly innocent. That doesn’t stop him from beating them bloody during sparring. Challenging any one of them. Embarrassing them in front of their peers only to catch them off guard later in the night. Carving their skin, taking their fingernails as trophies. Having to refrain from showing you that he was giving you justice in the only way he knew how.
And then there was Johnny….
Sweet Johnny became your primary care taker. Isn’t phased when you need help bathing or going to the bathroom. Johnny who administered your pain medicine around the clock. Who was your advocate about dealing with the doctors and medical staff when you felt too overwhelmed. Who scheduled your medical appointments for your burns, lacerations and the other injuries and illnesses you sustained. Severed ACL. Upper respiratory infection. Kidney infection. UTIs from lack of hygiene items. Never once making you feel embarrassed. Getting you in touch with a therapist.
All of them doing their part to help you in anyway they can. All of them promising to never let you away from them again.

Second Time's The Charm IX
Alexia Putellas x Reader
Summary: Your co-workers meet your wife
Tumblr media
The new doctor is world renowned.
A titan in the industry of sports science and flawless in the realm of orthopaedic surgery.
Perhaps there was a bit of sexism in the way that all the nurses assumed you would be a man but each were pleasantly surprised when you walked through the door in your scrubs and were, in fact, a woman.
It was great in fact because male doctors always had massive egos attached and never treated nurses respectfully.
But female doctors always did.
Female doctors always appreciated the work they did.
You were one of those doctors.
If you weren't buried in paperwork or doing consultations and follow ups, you were down by the nurses station with a to-go coffee and a box of doughnuts from the café to share out.
"He took me to Naples," One of the nurses said," We took a tour around Pompeii and ate at this amazing pizza place."
You hummed, writing down something in one of your patient's charts. "Was it nice? I've been meaning to take my wife but she's so busy all the time. I don't want her time wasted if it isn't nice."
"So nice," The nurse insisted," A lot of walking around though so you're sweating a lot but apart from that, it's amazing."
"I'll put it on my list then."
"My boyfriend took me to a football match. He's a Barcelona fan so we went to see the women in a friendly last week."
"My wife was there too," You said absentmindedly," I heard it was a good match."
"Eight-nil to Barcelona," The nurse agreed," They were amazing."
You know that because Alexia came home very happy with her own performance. Two goals. Three assists.
You rewarded her handsomely.
"The women's team are very good," You replied, signing something off.
"Oh, yeah, you go to a lot of matches, right? Are you a fan?"
"My wife's a bigger Barcelona fan than me," You replied.
That was an understatement but nobody really needs to know about how passionate Alexia is about football.
"She always gets me tickets."
"That's so sweet," Another nurse said," It's nice that you care so much about her interests."
"Yeah, I love seeing Ale happy," You said," If that means I have to sit through ninety plus minutes of football then I'm glad to to do it."
The nurses learnt pretty quickly after that, just how much you adored your wife.
You brought her up with conversations that were only tangentially related to her, dropping little facts to do with her at seemingly random intervals.
Your staff now knew that you and your Ale had met at school, inseparable since that first meeting. They knew you got kicked out of your parent's house at eighteen after you married her. They knew that you were currently building a house and had taken her away on her dream holiday over the Christmas period.
You'd never shown a picture of her though and if there was one things nurses loved doing with no one around, it was gossip.
"She must look like a model or something," One of them said," Pretty people marry pretty people and Doctor Putellas is very pretty."
"I think she must be a real sweetheart," Another said," Someone really sweet and happy. I'd be happy if I was married and spoiled by Doctor Putellas. It must be a dream."
"What do you think she works as?"
" A doctor's salary like Doctor Putellas' is enough to support a family on. Her wife probably doesn't need to work."
"I heard they were thinking about adopting. Her wife might want to stay home with the baby."
"Doctor Putellas deserves a housewife to spoil. I bet her wife feels so loved all the time."
"I wish my boyfriend would treat me like how Doctor Putellas treats her wife."
A throat is cleared behind the assembled nurses and they turn around, instantly putting on their responsible faces.
Alexia Putellas stood before them, nervously threading her fingers together together as she stood in front of them.
"Erm...hello."
"Hello. Do you have an appointment? A follow up?"
Since her ACL tear, Alexia wasn't an abnormal presence at the hospital, constantly coming back for follow ups and check ins.
She'd never looked this nervous though, this strung out and anxious.
"Er...no. I'm...I'm here to see Y/n?"
The nurses all nodded.
That made sense. Alexia Putellas and Doctor Putellas.
Everyone had assumed the pair of you were related. You didn't look similar so you were probably cousins or something else more loosely related.
"We'll call her down for you."
Alexia nodded, face shifting from nervous to more stern and stoic, the face that the nurses were more used to seeing on her. She remained silent as they went back to talking, discussing weekend plans and holiday ideas with family.
The squeak of your shoes on the linoleum floor caused all conversations to grind to a half again and you turned the corner with the group of interns that you'd been talking to since one of your surgeries earlier, answering questions in such an in depth way that there was no question of why you were world class in your field.
"Doctor Putellas, your-"
"Amor!" Alexia cried out, stern and stoicism slipping from her visage as something skin to puppy love appeared to replace it," Brilliant news!"
Your own smile split your features as you took two short steps toward her until you were face to face.
Instantly, Alexia's hands went to your hips.
"What is it, Ale?"
"We've got a court date! For Maya! To bring her home!"
Somehow, you smile only widened and you threw your arms around Alexia to bring her ever closer.
"Are you serious? A court date? An actual court date?"
"The lawyers called!" Alexia continued, somehow rushing through her words but still articulating them perfectly," I was in a meeting but I was looking at my phone because it was flashing. I knew I shouldn't have picked up but it felt important so I did. And they told me! Next week! The judge will talk to us and officially approve the papers!"
You were totally professional with your nursing staff. You would banter with them and joke around but you were still so professional. You didn't overshare. You didn't belittle them. You didn't say anything too personal.
Which was why it was so strange to see you pull Alexia into a kiss right in front of them, smashing your lips together as Alexia practically vibrated in excitement.
"We're bringing our baby home," You said against her lips.
"We are, amor. We are."
Movement out of the corner of your eye brought you out of your daze though, dropping your arms until you could take one of Alexia's hands in your own as you turned to face the shocked faces of your group of interns and your nurses.
You felt a little bit awkward now as you cleared your throat.
"This is my wife," You said meekly," Ale."
Not the Barcelona captain. Not the Spain captain. Not Alexia Putellas.
Your wife.
Ale.

Hi!!! Request for Leah (smut), something based on the first time Leah can use the strap properly again after her ACL and she goes to town on reader with it after not being able to do that for so long. They’re still completely switch tho, so some bottom!Leah too.
I've missed having you like this
Tumblr media
Smut: Leah and Reader!Switch, strap on, fluff
Word count: 1,870
-
Leah’s pov:
Y/n and I’s sex life since doing my ACL has been uneventful, to say the least. Y/n has been able to go down on me, but I’ve still had to keep cautious of the way I move my legs. I haven’t been able to touch Y/n properly in a long time. We found a compromise for her to sit on my face, but it rarely happens. I’ve finally hit my 9-month mark since surgery and am back playing almost full games. I have an appointment later this afternoon with the surgeon which should be one of my last. Y/n is going to tag along as she has for all of them. She wants to make sure she knows how to look after me perfectly and I recover well.
-
“Okay Leah, your scans show an almost perfect recovery, you’ve done incredibly well in rehab and I’m going to clear you for a full 90 minutes.” I grin excitedly and Y/n squeezes my hand.
“Congratulations baby!” she turns to me, “I’m so proud of you.”, I look at her lovingly.
“Yes, you’ve done very well Leah you should be very proud of yourself.” The doctor smiles and nods.
“Excuse me, I just need to pop to the loo” Y/n stands up and kisses my head on the way out. Once the door closes, I turn back to the doctor nervously.
“Is something wrong Leah?”
“No sir it’s just I um I’m not really sure how to ask this” I look down.
“Leah I’ve heard some wild things in my years, please go ahead” He smiles softly.
“Okay well, I um I was just kind of wondering if um I would be able to you know” I raise my eyebrows and he laughs.
“Have sex?”
“Yeah, yes um that” He laughs again.
“Yes, you can, you’re practically cleared for any form of physical activity, except I wouldn’t recommend getting back to your gym time backflips just yet” he grins, and I have to laugh.
“Thank you, sir,”.
-
Y/n’s pov:
“Darling! Dinner’s nearly ready” I call out to Leah, who’s God knows where doing God knows what. I haven’t seen her since we came home from the doctor, she disappeared upstairs almost immediately. “Leah! babe! Come on I’m serving it up” I shout again.
“Coming bub!” she shouts from the stairs. I turn around to place the food on the table when Leah comes around the corner, hair freshly washed, skin looking clean, and I can smell her perfume from here.
“Nice scrub?” I laugh at her.
“Shush you” She comes over to me and kisses me on the cheek before sitting down. “This looks lovely baby thank you for cooking”.
“You mean like I do every night?” I raise a brow and Leah rolls her eyes and giggles.
“Mmmh” Leah almost moans, “This is delicious y/n” She runs her foot up my bare calf. I raise my eyebrows and almost choke on my wine. She just continues to eat, ignoring my hard stare.
As I’m washing up the dishes Leah comes up behind me wrapping her arms around my waist, slowly leaving kisses along my neck and up to my ear. “What’s gotten into you tonight?” I question her.
“Am I not allowed to touch my beautiful girlfriend?” She takes her hands off me and brings them to her chest, acting offended. I simply roll my eyes and giggle as she walks off to the couch.
I’m lying in Leah’s arms, in between her legs, back against her chest watching our current obsession, Game of Thrones, when Leah begins to run her hand up my thigh. I look up at her, but she continues to look forward, raising her hand higher and higher. “Leah” I whisper.
“What?” she smiles,
“What are you doing?”
“Nothing, what are you doing?”, I cock an eyebrow at her childish response. “Ugh! You can’t take a hint can you?” She whines.
“What are you talking about baby?” I frown.
“I want to fuck you, babe! We haven’t had sex in ages, I’ve been trying to tease you all night! I just had the longest shower of my life, shaving every possible inch of me!”
“Leah, darling, I know I want to too, but you’re still recovering I don’t want to ruin your rehab baby.” I frown at her again, stroking my thumb over her cheek.
“The Doctor said it’s fine” she mumbles.
“What?”
“The Doctor! He said it was fine to have sex” She looks down, “I asked him” She keeps her head low but looks up at me with a pout and a small smile.
“You naughty girl” I whisper.
-
“Oh yes fuck! “, Leah moans and cums loudly as I suck hard on her clit. “Come here” she orders me, and kisses me hard, tongue diving straight into my mouth. “I want to make you feel good” she groans. “Stay here, I’ll be right back”. I smile, excited. Leah returns a minute later with our favourite strap attached to her.
“Oh shit” I mumble as I feel myself instantly drip.
“Turn around” She orders me, and I turn to get an all fours, just how I know she likes it. She moves me so I'm resting on my forearms instead of my hands, and my face is down into the pillow. She smacks my ass hard and I wince but moan at the feeling. “God I can’t wait to fuck you like this” she growls, spreading me open by the cheeks, moving forward a little more. She smacks my ass again and runs the strap over my clit and down, so it’s completely coated in my wetness. “Do you want me to fuck you baby?” she leans down to my ear, her front against my back.
“Yes please, I want you so bad baby please fuck me”, Leah smacks my ass one more time before she slowly thrusts the strap inside me. I moan loudly, instantly feeling the pleasure I’ve so badly craved. “Fuck! Yes, keep going” I pant, my entire body tingling. Leah's thrusts start to speed up and become more forceful.
“Yeah? You like that baby?” She growls into my ear.
“Yes! Yes! Fuck yes! Oh, you fuck me so good” I moan. Leah moves back so she’s no longer against my back and grabs at my hips roughly. She begins to slam into me, harder and harder. I moan so loud I begin to feel sorry for our neighbours. I scream and scream and scream while Leah continues to groan and tell me what a good girl I’m being. After one last hard thrust, I cum all over the strap and begin to drip down my thighs. I wince and groan at the feeling of Leah removing the strap from me.
“Shhhh it’s okay baby, I know” She hushes and turns me over so I’m on my back. She kisses my head softly and lays down next to me. “You have no idea how much I’ve missed that; I’ve been dying to fuck you like that for months.”
“Yeah, well you better not ever stop,” I whisper. “Take it off” I look down at the strap. Leah looks at me confused, as if she was waiting to go another round on me. “I’ll let you go again later you addict, let me have a turn”, I move closer to her and begin to undo the harness. I strip her of the strap and put it on myself. Leah lays, patiently, a small smile visible on her face, waiting for me to climb on top of her. I sit up and rest my back against the headboard. “Come sit” I demand. Leah almost jumps at the chance. Moving over she places herself onto my stomach, subtly grinding, her wetness coating my abdomen. I move my hands to run over her breast, we aren’t quite at eye level so she’s looking down at me, however, we both know I have all the power at this moment. I squeeze her breasts and she throws her head back. I pinch her nipples then move forward to kiss her chest. Her hands immediately find their way to my hair, pushing me in further. I lick and suck all over her chest, biting and pulling softly at her nipples. Leah’s grinding starts to get quicker, so I stop.
“Ride it,” I say simply. Leah doesn’t hesitate to move back, hovering herself over the strap, which is still wet from me. “Now sit,” I tell her. Leah slowly sits onto the strap, her mouth instantly opening, angelic noises escaping. Once she fills herself with the whole thing I grab onto her hips and begin to guide her up and down. As she moves faster her moans get louder, and her breasts jump in front of me. “Fuck you’re so good, taking it all for me” I growl at her.
“God, you feel so good, baby. Fuck!” She screams out and her motions quicken. She grabs onto my shoulder, scratching into my skin, “I’m going to cum, oh fuck!” She continues to scream, louder and louder until she finally collapses. Her body is exhausted and almost limp so I turn us over so she’s lying down, and I can pull out. She whines at the loss of contact and pants heavily. I remove the strap and quickly go to the bathroom, wash it and put it away. I return to Leah awaiting me, smiling. “I forgot how good it is when you fuck me” she grins.
“I won’t ever let you forget again” I whisper as we lean in for a sweet kiss. Hands wondering, eager for another round.

The newest member | Alessia Russo
Tumblr media
Pairing: Alessia Russo x Pregnant!Reader
Summary: Alessia being extra protective of you during your pregnancy.
Masterlist | Woso masterlist | words: 1k
Over the years you had grown to love how protective Alessia was over you. She showed her protectiveness even in the smallest of ways, it had always made you feel safe and loved. Ever since the two of you found out that you were pregnant with your first baby, her protectiveness evolved.
It started out very sweet, making sure she got you everything you needed, taking control of the conversation when the questions were getting too much for you, and setting up all the doctors appointments so that you didn’t have to worry about it. But as your pregnancy progressed, her protectiveness grew with it. You had mixed feelings over the new found protectiveness.
There were the ways that you were grateful for, like telling strangers to back up when they reached their hands out to touch your belly without permission, or making sure that she grabbed everything you needed for your wide range of cravings from the store. But there were also ways that could be rather annoying at times. The further along you got into your pregnancy the less she let you do on your own.
In your third trimester her biggest form of protectiveness was that she had taken the no heavy lifting advice that the doctor gave you as you not being allowed to lift anything. Which often led to frustration from your end. “Less, come on. There are literally two baby onesies in here, I think I can handle that on my own.” You roll your eyes at your wife as she takes the bag from your hands anyways.
In your fourth trimester she wouldn’t let you be home alone, ever. Having your wife around so much was great. She would read to the baby, make you food, and she gave you the lots of cuddles. But when she would leave to go to practice, she would have someone babysit you, which was less fun. She never called it babysitting, of course, but whenever she had to go another person randomly showed up on your doorstep. Whether it was her mom, a friend, or a teammate, there was always someone there. Luckily for you, the people she sent to babysit you never acted like that was why they were there.
While usually Alessia’s antics of having someone practically babysit you were pretty annoying, today you were grateful to have someone around. Viv was with you today, she was still out because of her ACL injury, and therefore she wasn't joining the rest of the Arsenal girls for training just yet. You were in the kitchen, getting a glass of water, while Viv was sitting on the couch. “Viv, get in here.” You yell out. Viv hears the worry in your voice and is quick to her feet. “What’s wrong?” She asks, matching your worried tone. “My water just broke.” Viv moves to your side and grabs your arm to support you, “Okay, let’s get you to the hospital then.” She leads you to the front door, she scoops up the hospital bag that Alessia had placed next to the front door a couple of weeks ago, “Just in case.” she kept saying. While you settle in the car, she gives a quick call to Jonas.
At the training field Jonas hangs up the call and heads over to the team again. “Girls, can I have everyone’s attention please.” He calls over and everyone jogs in his direction. “I thought I’d get everyone together for this announcement because I just got a call that is rather exciting.” The team has their full attention on their coach. “Alessia, your wife is in labor. Viv is driving her to the hospital as we speak.” Alessia stood in shock until her teammates start patting her on the back, and hugging her. “What are you waiting for Russo? Let’s go.” Katie says once her teammates are done hugging her. “I’ll drive.” Beth announced, rushing to the locker room to grab her keys.
You hear a knock on your hospital room door, Viv gets up and opens the door for your new guests. Alessia is immediately by your side and takes your hand in hers, “How are you feeling, baby?” She asks as she places soft kisses to your forehead. “At the moment I am mostly excited to meet this little girl.” You share.
When it was time for the delivery, Alessia ushered everyone out of the room. Over the years these girls had become your family but this was a moment you did not want them present at. Alessia stayed by your side the whole time, helping you do your breathing exercises, holding your hand, being supportive, and praising you for how well you were doing. The delivery was very hard but all was forgotten the second you got to hold your baby girl. Alessia asked one of the nurses to snap a few pictures, and enjoyed the moment of meeting your little girl for the first time.
Once the doctors and you said visitors were okay, Alessia went to the waiting room where Viv, Beth, and Katie were very impatiently waiting. “Ready to meet our healthy baby girl?” She asked as she watches everyone get up full of excitement. They follow her in the room. You don’t think you’ve ever heard them be so quiet before. “You're allowed to make noice, you know?” Effectively pulling them out of their trances. Alessia picks up the baby from the little crib, and walks towards her teammates. “These are your aunties.” The girls huddle around the newborn, admiring the little girl.
When it was time to take your little girl home, you dressed her up in the baby Arsenal jersey that Alessia got from the team. Your wife snaps a picture and sends it to the Arsenal group chat with the caption, ‘Meet the newest member of the team’.
You enjoyed your first day at home with the newest member of your family with just the two of you. Letting family and friends know that both mom and baby were doing great, and setting up times for them to meet your little girl.
💗 If you enjoyed this fic, please consider leaving a tip 💗

blue eyes + bruises - part eight
✯ pairing:
doctor!rafe cameron x fem!reader
✯ summary:
a tragic car accident looks like it'll be the end for you, but dr. cameron is here to make sure that doesn't happen.
✯ warnings:
mature themes, mentions of anxiety, nostalgia, and fear, car accident, death of a spouse (not rafe or y/n), major surgery, injuries, hurt/comfort, angst, fluff, etc.
✯ a/n:
nothing!! please don't engage if you have a hard time with any of these topics <3 this was origianlly posted on my old blog @/illicitfixations, @/lovelornanonymity back in 2021/2022 and i have rewritten + reshared it here :)
Your fingers danced across the black leather bound table that you laid on, the pitter patter of your fingernails could be heard from the hallway, that much you were sure of. Hannah, your favorite physical therapist and friend, worked diligently, massaging your hips and working her way down to your knee repeating the same actions. This was the warm up for every appointment, stimulating the muscles and helping them loosen up.
“Where’s Rafe today?”
She asked, bringing you out of your relaxed bliss.
“He’s in surgery, some kind of ligament repair.”
You responded, not pretending to know the technical jargon he had spat out earlier in the morning. She nodded in response.
“How’s this feeling?”
She questioned, pressing her fingertips a little deeper into the skin around your kneecap as she worked tirelessly to massage the muscles.
“It hurts a little.”
You replied through clenched teeth. She stopped her actions, removing the gloves from her hands and helping you sit up, legs hanging off the table.
“Let’s try to do your standing balance exercises, three times on each leg for thirty seconds.”
You nodded, gently sliding off the table and moving to stand on your good leg. You balanced for the allotted thirty seconds, doing your best not to grip the table that you stood parallel to. Once the timer went off, you switched legs and restarted it, the seconds counting down once again. At the twenty second mark, your kneecap went backwards, the stress of your weight causing it to buckle underneath you. It was quick – so quick in fact, that you hadn’t even realized what happened until you were on the ground clutching your knee to your chest. Hannah was beside you on the floor in less than a minute. You watched as she tucked her shoulder length chestnut colored hair behind her ears and called another therapist over to help lift you back on to the table.
“y/n, are you alright?”
The tears in your eyes clearly told her that you weren’t and she was worried.
“What hurts, sweetheart?”
She asked, laying her hand on your forehead to get your attention, but also to let you know she was here for you. Your eyes opened only slightly and you tried to turn toward her, a wince dancing across your features.
“Just hurts, Hannah.”
“Where’s it hurt, y/n?”
She questioned with intent, needing to know the source of the problem before she alerted Rafe that something was wrong.
“My knee.”
You croaked out, your throat fought against the words as they came out, creating an assault on your vocal cords. You sounded much like a bullfrog. ‘Shit’, she thought, grabbing the walkie-talkie from her pants where it was clipped onto her belt loop and speaking into it.
“Can someone give me the whereabouts of Dr. Cameron?”
A voice you recognized as Jenni spoke back.
“He’s in OR 2, finishing up on a compound femur fracture with an ACL repair.”
Hannah nodded, holding her breath before she spoke again, thanking the nurse before putting the walkie down and calling the operating room Rafe was in. It rang three times before Jenni, who was Rafe’s scrub nurse, picked up the phone.
“Jenni, how long is he going to be?”
She asked the nurse on the other end of the phone.
“He just finished up. What’s wrong? Do you need to talk to him?”
“Yes – it’s y/n.”
“Dr. Cameron, Hannah down in pt needs to speak to you about your girl.”
Rafe stood in the scrub room, delicately coating his fingers with soap and scrubbing them as he was taught to so many years ago. It had become second nature in the same way that loving you had. As his brain registered the words of his scrub nurse, the hair on the back of his neck stood – something was wrong. He finished washing his hands quickly and he walked at a fast pace, his long legs approaching the wall the phone hung on and taking it from the nurse, giving her a forced smile.
“Hannah? What’s the matter? Is my sweet girl okay?”
His tone was coated with urgency, a call he got in an operating room the day Molly died at the forefront of his brain. Him knowing that you weren’t her, this time, simply wasn’t enough and he could hear his heartbeat quicken as he waited for her reply; the beating of his chest like drums pounding against his ears.
“Don’t freak out, just yet. I need your doctor skills, not your boyfriend ones. She fell doing some balance exercises and she’s complaining of knee pain at a seven on the scale. Do you want me to send her to get images before you come up?”
A sigh of relief escaped his lips as he waited to hear the news of your fate. A knee injury he could fix, but your heart not beating he couldn’t and he knew that.
“If she’s saying seven, she means nine — How did she fall?”
He finally responded with a simple question, but Hannah knew that for an orthopedic surgeon that question was everything, that question told a story.
“I had her do the standing balance exercises where she stands on each leg for thirty seconds and when she stood on her surgery leg it collapsed underneath her.”
Rafe sucked in a deep breath, remembering the torn ACL behind your kneecap that still needed surgery. He hated the idea of stripping you of the little bit of independence you had gained almost as much as you did, but he knew eventually it would have to be done.
“Yeah, have Jenni take her for imaging; mri and x-ray; possibly a ct if those don’t show anything – but use that as a last resort. She had a torn acl from the accident that hasn’t been repaired. The physical therapy has helped her gain mobility in her hips but I'm sure it’s made the knee angry. Do me a favor and don’t spook her with it yet, let me look over all the imaging before we talk to her about it. I want to make sure surgery is even necessary before we scare her half to death.”
“Okay, will do, doc.”
She responded.
“One more thing before you go – will you facetime me off of her phone. I just need to see her for a moment.”
His heavy exhale let her know that he did indeed need to see you, if only for a brief minute. His anxiety was likely making him spiral, it was likely making him think about Molly; placing you in the same position she was in, yet again or placing his mind in a distant memory of her – a time when he couldn’t be there, just like he was unable to in this current moment.
“She’s okay, Rafe. You got it, give me just a minute, alright?”
“Yeah, no worries. Take your time.”
He said as he hung up the phone, swallowing thickly and wiping away the tiny tears from the corners of his eyes. He paced in the scrub room, back and forth in front of the sink, his thoughts overcoming him. He began to think back to the day just a few short months ago – the first time he saw you; bruised, beaten, and bloody, more bones broken than not. He thought about you laying there, unable to breathe on your own as he kissed your hands in the same way he kissed hers when she was in the same position. Rafe stood with his hands against the sink, leaning over it, realizing that you were like her in more ways than he was comfortable with and the only thing that set you apart from her was the fact that you were alive and she wasn’t. Rafe halted his pace, leaning over the sink with his hands against the metal and after a brief moment, he ripped the scrub cap he was wearing off of his head, chucking it at the wall. He took out his cell phone from the back pocket of his pale blue scrubs and scrolled until he found her contact – a photo of his arms wrapped around her from behind at a party from when they were sixteen. He remembered that night vividly; it was the night they kissed for the first time and though he was a world away from backwards caps and college plans, he still smiled at seeing her like that, happy and carefree and in love. Her blonde hair had made its home against her face from the wind of the water and as Rafe closed his eyes and held his phone to his chest he could still see her, just like that. He wished for a moment that she was still here and that he didn’t have to remember her in only fractures of broken memories, he wished for a moment that she was you. He quickly pushed his thoughts aside, dialing Molly’s number. Oftentimes, when things had become too much after her passing on from this life into the next, Rafe called her with no other expectation other than listening to the sound of her sweet voice on the other end of the line. Today, however, was different. He needed to tell her about you, even though he was ninety-percent sure she was the one who brought the two of you together, he needed to be the one to tell her that he wasn’t hopeless anymore and he wasn’t alone and that he was okay and he needed to tell her that he loved her. The line rang and rang until he got her voicemail – “hey this is Molly, sorry I missed you but I'm probably doing something fun! Leave me some words if ya can and i’ll get back to you soon.” Her sing-song voice penetrated his ears and suddenly he was no longer twenty-eight. Instead, he was nineteen watching her sing bon jovi at the top of her lungs in a college town, hole in the wall, bar. He was smiling at her and for a brief moment he forgot that she was gone. Rafe hung up, dialing it again and again and again four times before he decided to speak into her voicemail box. His cheeks were soaked with tears, his lips trembling and at the sound of the beep, he spoke.
“Moll – baby, shit. I fucking miss you. If you were here, things would be so different. But you’re not and I can feel myself pulling away from your memory, from our marriage – Moll, I met someone and she’s good and she’s pure and she’s perfect and she’s so much like you and yet, so different. Sarah set us up, can you believe that? I know if you were here you’d be friends.”
For a brief moment, Rafe breathed into the phone, somehow expecting her to pick up, to breathe back, to tell him it was okay. Yet, somehow without the confirmation of her words, he knew it was, he felt her telling him that it was even a world apart.
“Moll – I don't want to ruin this thing with her, baby. So, this will be my last call. I just wanted to tell you that I love you and that I’m sorry. I should’ve done so many things differently. But, I’m happy, Molly. For the first time since you left, I’m happy and I think I gotta hold onto that, isn’t that what you always told me, sweetheart?”
A beep infiltrated Rafe’s ears and he pulled the phone down, glancing at the screen – incoming facetime sweet girl – displayed across it. He wiped his eyes and straightened his shoulders as he dragged his fingers across the screen and your sweet face appeared in front of him.
“Hey, sweetheart. Hannah said you were feeling pretty bad?”
His eyes softened as he took in your form, one of the many t-shirts of his that he had given you draped over your chest and your eyes were bloodshot; you had been crying.
“I’m okay, Rafe, baby, don’t worry.”
You choked out the words.
“You’re gonna have to get better at trying to fool me, baby girl. I can tell you’ve been crying.”
You swallowed thickly, looking up at Jenni as she pushed you toward the x-ray room in a wheelchair. Your leg was propped up and laid out straight in front of you with a bag of ice on top of it.
“I’m just worried this means more surgery.”
You responded and it was like Rafe could see the wheels spinning in your brain, which he needed to put a stop too. He wasn’t about to let you spiral the way that he had only moments ago.
“Don’t get ahead of yourself yet, baby. We’ll look over the tests once they’re done and figure out what’s wrong.”
You felt numb, a feeling of dread looming over you. Rafe felt it too.
“I guess it pays to have a doctor boyfriend, huh?”
You chuckled lightly as the words left your mouth.
“It does indeed, pretty girl.”
He replied, a boyish grin displayed heavily on his lips. The only thing you could do was stare at him in all his glory and admire how beautifully and perfectly sculpted he was.
“Okay, Rafe, she’s gotta go, we're in the radiography department.”
Jenni’s words brought the both of you out of the bliss of each other’s company.
“Okay, pretty girl, it’s time to go. I’ll see you soon, alright?”
“Okay, Rafe.”
He watched your shoulders droop and he could almost feel the anxiety through the phone as it rattled through your chest and your eyes met your hands.
“Hey, baby girl – look at me.”
You obliged, your eyes flicking up to meet his blue ones.
“You’re okay, baby. Everything’s okay. You trust me don’t you?”
“Of course, I do, Rafe.”
“You trust that I'll take care of you like I always have, don’t you?”
“Of course, I do, Rafe.”
“Okay, then there’s nothing to worry about. No matter what it is, baby. I’ll get you through it.”
You nodded, pursuing your lips into a forced smile.
“None of that, baby. Give me a real smile.”
You giggled at how well he knew you and how well he could read your expressions. He paid attention – you’d give him that.
“There she is.”
He cooed.
“I love you, Rafferty.”
You softly spoke, your voice sending shivers down his spine.
“And I love you, sweet girl. I’ll see you in a little while.”
He smiled – the Rafe Cameron smile – and kissed two of his fingers before placing them against the camera and watched as you repeated his actions before hanging up the phone.
-
Rafe’s worst fears had been confirmed – you needed another surgery. He sat at the nurse's station, studying the images of the inside of your knee over and over again, racking his brain for any other solution, but he couldn’t find one. You had a complete tear of your ACL and MPFL which could only be fixed with surgery and he wanted more than anything in this moment not to be the bearer of bad news, not to be the doctor; for once, just to be the concerned boyfriend. He made his way into your room, taking in your sleeping form, your top half still draped in his clothes and your hair a mess, stuck against your face through the sweat that your sleep had brought on. He smiled to himself because he loved seeing you like that and he’d love it even more if it was in the bed next to him, not in a hospital. He moved towards you, kicking his tennis shoes off and scooting your body slightly as he nuzzled his into yours. You quietly stirred, blinking rapidly trying to gain your bearings,  chasing the warmth that your body was draped in. You looked up at Rafe and smiled sleepily, like a newborn baby seeing it’s fist glimpse of the world.
“Hey, pretty girl.”
He whispered, moving your sweat drenched hair from in front of your face.
“Hi”
You croaked back to him. He pulled you in, laying his head against yours and draping his arms around your back, hugging you like your existence, put all his broken pieces back together and it did in a way.
“What’s the matter, baby?”
You asked him, he was sad and you could tell. But, you weren’t sure what was plaguing him.
“I just looked at your test results, sweet girl, and it’s not good news.”
The look on his face was somber and you knew what it meant.
“I need surgery, don’t I?”
He gingerly nodded his head and you no longer contained the dread and the anxiety within you as the dam broke and your tears began to soak his scrubs.
“I know, baby, I know.”
He whispered into your hairline as he laid kisses upon it and rubbed the back of your head. You held onto him for dear life, clutching to his biceps with more force than he thought possible.
“I-I can’t do it again, I won’t.”
You breathed out amidst stutters and his blood ran cold. He pushed you forward so he could look in your eyes and confusion laced his features as he took you in, tear stained cheeks and all.
“What do you mean, baby? We need to do this, okay?”
“No, Rafe!”
You snapped. This is what he was afraid of; he couldn’t force you, not really. But, he needed to take care of you in a way that he couldn’t take care of her.
“What do you mean no?”
He pushed with a hardened look in his eyes. His features were still gentle, the anger and frustration that bubbled beneath him dancing subtly against his skin.
“You — You don’t get it, okay?”
Your voice came out broken and frustrated and for a brief moment he almost smiled.
Sweet girl, I get it in more ways than you understand. You don’t understand why I need to take care of you and that’s okay.
“Why don’t you tell me what I don’t get, baby.”
He spoke softly, bringing his fingertips to your cheek and brushing them gently against your skin.
“You don’t understand — you don’t get that I just got my independence back and you want to take it away again!”
You raised your voice and Rafe was shell shocked but he also knew it was because you didn’t feel heard. Molly only yelled when she felt misunderstood and she had yelled at him the day of her accident because he wasn’t listening to her point of view. Suddenly it at all made sense, the parallels of the accident were indeed a second chance. He sat up straight and vowed to change things, to make you feel heard in a way that he couldn’t do for her.
“Baby, I’m sorry for not listening to you. I don’t want to take your independence away, in fact, it’s quite the opposite. You’ve torn some ligaments in your knee, sweet girl, and without surgery it’ll cause lifelong problems, you won’t be able to stand long enough to teach, baby. I only want to help. I didn’t mean to make you think otherwise.”
You swallowed the weight of his words and they felt thick against your throat.
“Rafe, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to yell.”
He moved quickly pulling you back to his chest and kissing your forehead.
“Can I tell you something, sweet girl?”
He asked, cradling your head in his hands as you cried into his chest. You simply nodded in response, as your cries turned to sniffles and you clutched tighter to his chest.
“My wife, Molly, died in an accident very similar to yours and I've struggled for a long time with being unable to save her, to take care of her the way that I've taken care of you. So, I just need you to let me, yeah?”
You nodded your head in response before laying it against his pectoral muscle once more.
“Rafe, were you working when she was brought in?”
You looked up at him, thinking surely he wasn’t.
“Yeah, baby. They called me while I was in the operating room. She and I had a fight, a massive one and she had left to go be with her parents. She never made it out of the city, her train crashed ten minutes after it left.”
“I’m sorry, Rafferty.”
You couldn’t do anything other than cry for him and with him and clutch to him like your life depended on it, because it very well did and maybe so did his.

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas
Katie McCabe x Reader || It's December 1st which means it's literally already Christmas! (Made up game mentioned)
Tumblr media
You should have been paying attention when Katie told you which stadium the Arsenal V Man City game was going to be played in but you were too busy thinking about the following day. One more sleep and it was officially the Christmas season.
You couldn’t help it. Christmas was around the corner and your body was full of adrenaline and excitement for the holiday season, Christmas being your favourite holiday, even over your birthday.
Katie was due to head off for the game while you had to stay at home due to a check-up appointment for your ACL which was torn almost 4 months ago, adding you to the ACL squad. Normally you would go with the girls to cheer them on from the crowd but the appointment was more important than the game. The game falling on the 1st of December was just an added bonus.
Due to your love for Christmas, Katie had grown to have a special love for the holiday but she was nowhere near as fond of it as you were. She still believed it to be silly to set up the Christmas tree and other decorations before December had even begun so you were forced to wait until December 1st.
“Hello? Are you in there, love?” Katie tapped lightly on your forehead as you had zoned out and were looking at the blank wall as if it were a million pounds.
You blinked and turned your head back towards Katie, “Sorry, what was that?”
“You alright?” She tilted her head to the side as if it would give her a better look at you to see if anything was physically wrong with you.
“Yeah, I’m perfect,” You smiled and moved forwards to kiss her, to shut her up, “Right, you’ve got a big game tomorrow, so we best be off to sleep. Night!” You kissed her once more before turning off your bedside lamp and closing your eyes.
“Night?” Katie questioned but pulled you into her and closed her eyes as well.
___________________________
The morning had gone as they usually do, the both of you, having built a routine for game days which only slightly changed after you tore your ACL. You were buzzing and Katie was lost on the true reason and when she asked you blamed it on your upcoming appointment and getting to watch your girlfriend play.
You both left at the same time but drove in separate directions and you were pleased with the absence of traffic and lack of patients in the doctor's office which meant you were in and out of there as fast as you possibly could. The news that your knee was healing faster than usual only added to your bright mood and you treated yourself to a holiday drink and pastry from your favourite cafe.
Your mood lead to you leaving a generous tip and buying a beautiful bouquet of flowers, also leaving the vendor of the floristry a generous tip. The traffic was still minimal on the way home as you sang Christmas songs for the first time this year and you were feeling amazing.
As soon as you got home you turned on the TV and made sure you had enough time to dig out the Christmas boxes from the spare room before the game was due to start, when you saw that there was plenty of time you screeched with joy and walked briskly (being weary of your knee) towards the spare room to receive the decorations.
You had your Google Home playing Christmas music softly so you could still hear the commentators of the game while you were whizzing around the apartment, Santa hat comfortably on your head. You stopped every now and then when you heard excitement through the TV and celebrated every time the girls won a challenge or scored a goal and groaned when Katie eventually got a yellow card.
You were sitting on the living room floor with your attention split between the Christmas tree in front of you and the game on the tele. You had set aside the star, wanting to wait for Katie to be home to put the final touch on the tree. You were officially done and so was the game and you were filled with joy as the girls had won the game by 3, Katie assisting 1 and scoring 1, and how beautiful your Christmas-ified apartment was.
________________________________
It had been a few hours of buzzing around the apartment, waiting for Katie to come home, which consisted of lighting the candle that smelt of fresh-cut pine, cinnamon sugar and toasted marshmallows and making gingerbread cookies. Christmas music was still playing and you had lit the tree’s lights and were anticipating the arrival of your girlfriend.
When you heard the door click open, you jumped up from the couch, slid around the corner, courtesy of your fuzzy socks, and ran at your girlfriend.
“CONGRATULATIONS MY LOVE!” You yelled as you jumped into her arms, “Guess what?”
Katie laughed at your attire which was a Christmas-themed onesie, “Hmm, I wonder, what’s that smell? And what is with the decorations?” She questioned sarcastically.
You dropped from her hold and crossed your arms, “I don’t appreciate the sarcasm, love. IT’S CHRISTMAS!” You switched your attitude in a second and began to shake Katie’s shoulders.
“Oh, really?” She laughed.
You took her hand and dragged her towards the living room which looked like an elf had thrown up across the room, “Oh my god,” Katie shook her head and laughed.
You rolled your eyes and collected the star from the coffee table, “Look, I left this off so you could say that you helped!” You knelt to one knee and presented her with the glitter-covered star.
“Oh, bless,” She took the star and you hand and pressed onto her tippy toes to settle the star on the top of the tree, “Thank you, I appreciate that,” She gave you a huge hug and squeezed you tight before kissing you deep on the lips.
You smiled goofily at her, “You stink,” She laughed loudly at the statement, “Why don’t you go shower and I’ll make hot chocolates!” You clapped at your idea and ushered her off to the bathroom before making your way to the kitchen.
Once Katie was done, so were the hot chocolates and you had also set out some of the gingerbread cookies, “Look what I made you,” You showed her one of the cookies which was iced with a #1 and was cut into the shape of a medal.
“Beautiful, love. Absolutely stunning,” She took a bite, “And delicious,”
The night was spent watching Christmas movies and eating takeout in matching Christmas onesies. You were still buzzing as you closed your eyes, resting your on Katie’s chest.

Sicktember 2023: 9
White Coat Syndrome
“Y/L/N,” Dawn shouts across the locker room, “my office, now.”
“Oooh,” your teammates say sing-songily together, “Y/N’s in trouble.”
It’s like you're instantly transported back to primary school, the principal calling your name over the loudspeaker. Without a doubt, your peers would tease in the exact same way. The only real difference is that your teammates are adults and should definitely know better than second graders. The punishment would almost definitely be the same too- missing out on recess is pretty much the same as missing practices and games.
With a hot blush across your cheeks, you quickly head to Dawn’s office. You knew better than to keep her waiting. You knock lightly, waiting for a response before you enter.
“Hey, Dawn, how are you? You look great, you’re absolutely glowing. Are you using a new skincare routine, you’ll have to tell me your sec-“
Dawn cuts you off by clearing her throat.
“Hello, Y/N, it’s been awhile since we’ve had some good one-on-one bonding. I was thinking we could play a game,” Dawn says, surprisingly meeting your energy and excitement.
“Ummm,” you hesitate, confused, before sitting down and nodding, “okay, yeah! It’ll be fun! Which one do you think?”
“How about 20 questions? It’s one of my favorites.”
You know Dawn must have an ulterior motive, but you can’t figure it out.
“I know that one, I’ll start. Dawn, what’s your favorite color?”
“I like light blue. Y/N, who was your soccer idol growing up?”
“Oh, that’s easy: Mia Hamm. If you played on the team, what position would you play?”
“Probably goalie, less risk of an ACL injury. How about this, if you could be any member of the staff, who would you be?”
“Coach, I love all of the tactics behind it. Oh, it’s hard to think of questions. Umm, what’s your favorite drink?”
“Water,” she answers bluntly, “do you think I’m an idiot?”
“What?” you respond, about to continue when she interrupts.
“Y/N, you’re supposed to answer the question before you ask one. So, again, do you think I’m an idiot?”
“No, no of course not. What are you talking about?”
“Well, I’m not sure if you remember, but you missed camp two months ago because you had covid. And you missed camp last month because you developed asthma from covid and you had to go to the emergency room multiple times. So, my next question, did you think I would forget that you’re required to have a full work up from a pulmonologist before you’re allowed to train or were you simply hoping to avoid me?”
You freeze, eyes wide. You knew that you were supposed to see the doctor, but the doctor scared you. The only reason that you had even gone to the emergency rooms those times was because you couldn’t breathe and one of your teammates had to drag your blue-lipped form in.
So you put off the appointment, hoping that everyone would ignore your lack of medical approval if you played really well. Besides, you had brought the emergency inhaler that you had gotten at your most recent emergency visit, so you would be fine.
Dawn sighs, “go get your bag, you’ve got an appointment in 30 minutes. If you get the all-clear, you can practice tomorrow.”
You know better than to protest, going to grab all of your things. You stop for a moment and watch your teammates warming up, jealousy filling your body.
You walk back towards Dawn’s office, expecting her to pass off car keys and directions. Instead, you find her standing with her bag, keys in hand.
“Are you ready to go?” She asks.
“You’re coming with me?” You question, “I thought you would have to stay for practice.”
“I thought you would like the company, but I could be wrong. I guess I’ll go back to practice and you can go alone.”
It was almost comical the way your face instantly paled, the blood draining. Your hand reached out automatically, trying to stop her from leaving.
“Please, no” you say quietly.
“Alright, come on then. We have to go.”
You quickly follow Dawn as she begins heading towards the exit, afraid that you would be left alone. You couldn’t decide which was a worse option- having to go to the doctor alone or never being able to play soccer again.

“Would that be so bad?”
Leah Williamson x Reader
Warnings: SELF HARM, mentioned and no one physically does it in the fic but it’s alluded to. Suicidal thoughts, HEAVY on the angst. Please don’t read if you are struggling, and read at your own risk and pace. Thank you.
Summary: What if you want something bad to happen?
*********
You were in bed. Asleep. Your back to the woman you love.
Meanwhile Leah was wide awake, adjusting herself every 3 seconds, but never being able to take her eyes off the back of your head.
The thing was, you had just faced a life altering (maybe even career changing, but Leah didn’t want to think about that right now) injury.
Your 2 ACL tear in 2 seasons. You recovered from your last one quicker than most, spending 289 days on the sidelines recovering as opposed to the typical 300 odd. Then you tore it again not even 3 weeks later in a match against Tottenham.
Ashleigh Neville went in for an ,admittedly awful, tackle which caused you to go down. You heard the pop, felt the same throb, felt the lump in your throat and the tears stream down your cheeks.
You knew you’d done it.
And Leah knew too, it seemed. Because she came storming down to Tottenham’s half with a look that rivalled the aggression of Roy Keane in his prime, fully prepared to rip both the ref and Neville a new one.
But when she saw you, crumpled on the floor looking utterly defeated she stopped short.
All she could think about was how much this was going to affect you mentally again, just like last time.
Because last time you isolated yourself. You stayed locked in your’s and Leah’s room, only going out for physio or doctor’s appointments, to have a quick wash, a single slice of toast; then the cycle repeated.
Lock yourself away.
Shower and go to physio.
Come back.
Eat one tiny thing.
Lock yourself away.
Repeat.
It was a dangerous cycle, Leah knew that as she was the one looking after you. But some days she felt like she’d failed, some days she’d find both new and faded cuts on your wrist and thighs that knocked her sick.
And this time was no different.
Leah had come to bed. You had been there all day. Leah had done her nightly routine, you had not. You’d been in bed all fucking day.
And Leah felt useless.
So at 3:29 AM, she shook you awake, sick of not knowing what was going on in your head.
“Babe..” You murmured, shaking her hands off you.
“Y/N please, just wake the fuck up.” The urgency in Leah’s voice and the crack in her tone caused you to shoot up.
“Love? Are you okay? What’s happening?” Questions came spewing out of your mouth at a million miles per hour, fearing for the worst.
Leah put a hand on your forearm to relax you and you try to ignore the slight sting of the fabric pressing against the lines on your arm, “I’m worried about you.” She admits.
And your heart stops, slowing down. Your eyes feel like they’re about to pop out of your skull.
“Please, please just talk to me, what’s going on?” Her voice was urgent.
“Nothing.” Your reply was calm, short.
“Y/N…” Leah sighs, switching on the lights. “If you don’t talk to me, something bad’s going to happen! I’m scared! Okay? I’m fucking scared what you’ll do to yourself!” She shouts, desperate to not cry.
“What if I want something bad to happen?!” You snap, your voice dry and your words loud.
Leah stops. You stop.
“Y/N… Are- Do you… Are you going to kill yourself?” Leah murmurs the words as if the mere thought of them makes you sick.
“I… No. I’m not going to, and- and I don’t want to kill myself… I just wouldn’t be sad if I did die soon.” You admit shakily, tears streaming and your breath coming in short shaky gasps.
“Oh… Oh baby.” Leah sobs, bringing you into a hug. “Why didn’t you tell me?” She mumbles into your hair as your tears wet her shoulder.
“I didn’t want to worry you.”
She tries to hold back a sob, kissing the top of your head, “You worry me more by locking yourself away.” She mumbles.
“Please just promise me you’ll talk to me. We can get better together.”
“Okay.”
“Okay?”
“Yeah.”
You were tired of feeling like you had the world on your shoulders, tired of feeling like you were deadlifting 600lbs by yourself. But you were so grateful Leah was there now.

Last ask about anxiety reminds me of issues with the pain scale- Like, "Rate pain at a 0 to 10". People who are in chronic pain (lifelong pain) tend to rate their pain as lower, not because they don't feel less pain than other people, but because they've gotten used to it so don't notice it as much. It'd be difficult to FUNCTION if they noticed it so much! (Group includes me...)
Newer versions of the pain scale tend to have directions less around "rate your pain" and more "rate how much your pain stops you from doing activities you like", which is a more objective measure most of the time
Oof, yes, I'm aware of baseline pain levels.
You see, my sister experienced chronic pain due to a botched ACL surgery after she tore it (the tear itself was already like that), and she's a trooper so she always downplayed it.
I remember one time we were both at the doctor's and she was asked how much pain she was in and she was like "oh, the usual amount" and got a pretty hard stare back.
More recently, I got a similar horrified expression when I said I probably had around the typical amount of thoughts of death when the normal amount is, in fact, zero. I'm just bad at knowing what's normal for anyone else.
I might have to borrow that "how much it's impacting living as I want to" for my next appointment, thanks.

The realisation hitting that my whole final year of high school will be me in and out of physio, doctors appointments, another surgery, doing the same thing again all because I tore both of my fucking acl's and that this stupid fucking system decided to only give me x-rays over the past 12 years since the first accident and no MRI until they found the calcified ball of my FUCKING ACL in my knee joint in the left knee. And the fact it's happened with the right knee, but only 6 years this time and they only learnt about my right knee, during my left knee surgery because my surgeon did a manipulation of the knee.
I hate it all.

My copic crate came in. My plan was to open it for christmas because I wanted the surprise of it. Little kid me would have been happy with it. I think it was fine.
otherwise, I'm procrastinating putting my Christmas stuff away. One of my decorations already fell off the wall so might as well. This time of the year is my least favorite. Winter post christmas is so drab and depressing. My husband does turn 40 in January and I feel weird saying I'm old enough to be married to a 40 year old, but here we are. My little sister just turned 30 also and thats even stranger.
The tree in my backyard finally lost all of its leaves and I dont feel like raking it all up. I'm overdue for some laundry and dishes too.
I had to take my dog back to the vet for a follow up appointment. She finished antibiotics for a UTI right before christmas and her urine was super bloody today at the doctors. It wasn't bloody the last time. They said they'd do another urinalysis and if it comes back bad we'll do a culture...I was like "just please send the culture off now". So no abx until that comes back. On the bright side this is the nicest (as in they're friendly) vet office I've been to here. However, his place is friggen expensive for them not being able to do an onsite UA and for that I miss my old vet in Georgia. I did treat Edie with a pupcup afterwards. I then had to run to the post office and send some more stuff out to my husband overseas.
He sounded like he actually had a decent Christmas himself. He did a 3 day trip to rome with a buddy and they said it was awesome. So that was really nice and a relief.
My workplace is a bit a shitshow. I spent all week training a new girl and my other girls got their ACLS so now they can do conscious sedation so I had to train them on that too. Since I'm the only person who can train people, I'm there everyday all day and I'm..tired. Theres another new girl starting on tuesday and I guess I'll train her too. I just really want some free time to go back to the gym.
I also have to pay over $1000 for our insurances renewing and now I'm looking at tax season and wondering where I put my POA so I can even file taxes and has that POA even expired yet..?
2024 is going to be wild I think. My husband is starting the retirement process when he gets back here in another 4-5 months. We'll probably be looking at moving again at the end of the year. We're going to be stressed out figuring out what to do with ourselves. Also its the lion kings 30th anniversary so I guess I'll just continue working so I can pay for merch I dont need.
just rambling...

Questions to ask when interviewing for jobs:
What is the expected number of patients per day to see?
How many bookeable patient hours will I be required for a 1.0 FTE?
Do you double book, who controls the schedule template for non-resident physicians?
What is the nearest hospital?
How long are the hospital follow up appointments?
Is there a nurse or coordinator for helping schedule these patients?

At Suncor Hospital, we specialize in diagnosing and treating knee conditions to help you regain mobility and improve your comfort.
Common Causes of Knee Pain
There are various causes of knee pain, including:
Arthritis: Osteoarthritis, a degenerative joint condition, is a leading cause of knee pain, especially in older adults.
Injuries: Injuries like ligament tears, fractures, or meniscal tears can cause severe knee pain. Common sports injuries such as ACL tears often lead to discomfort and instability.
Bursitis: Inflammation of the bursae (fluid-filled sacs around the knee) can cause pain and swelling.
Patellar Tendonitis: Also known as jumper's knee, this condition results from overuse of the knee tendons, often seen in athletes.
Overuse: Repetitive movements or prolonged standing and walking can strain the knee, leading to discomfort and stiffness.
Symptoms of Knee Pain
Knee pain can manifest in various ways, including:
Sharp or dull pain in the knee joint
Swelling or warmth around the knee
Difficulty bending or straightening the knee
Stiffness or reduced range of motion
Instability or a feeling of the knee "giving out"
When to See a Doctor
If you experience any of the following, it’s essential to seek medical attention:
Persistent or worsening pain
Swelling that doesn’t subside
Inability to bear weight on the knee
Deformity or noticeable changes in the knee's shape
Pain following a significant injury
At Suncor Hospital, our orthopedic specialists are here to assess your condition and determine the best course of treatment.
Treatment Options for Knee Pain
Treatment for knee pain varies based on the underlying cause. Some common options include:
Conservative Treatments:
Rest, ice, compression, and elevation (R.I.C.E.)
Physical therapy to strengthen the muscles around the knee and improve flexibility
Medications such as NSAIDs to reduce pain and inflammation
Injections:
Corticosteroid injections to reduce inflammation
Hyaluronic acid injections to lubricate the joint in cases of arthritis
Surgical Interventions:
Arthroscopy: A minimally invasive procedure to diagnose and treat joint problems
