The eldest daughter of the Laesca family, born of an Achitectus Magiteci father at the head of one of Garlemald's largest Magitek firms and a Tribunus Plebis mother, Aria was destined to take over from her father at the head of the family business. Her good academic results allowed her to easily enter the Magitek Academy where she met Cid Garlond and Nero Scaeva with whom she became friends.

But shortly after graduation, Aria found her father in a big discussion with one of his old friends: Gaius van Baelsar. If at first sight she was delighted to see him again, she quickly was disillusioned when she understood the real purpose of his visit. And the language of the Legatus was so perfectly mastered that she had no choice but to resign herself and accept to join the XIVth Imperial Legion in spite of herself, leaving the place to her younger brother at the head of the family business... and thus breaking her dreams.

She, who was a pacifist and hated the army, was involved in the storming of Ala Mhigo and the various battles that took place in Eorzea until the Battle of Carteneau. She completely withdrew into herself and simply obeyed orders, doing the work expected of her.

One day, she began to hear a voice and have strange visions while she was awake. She preferred not to talk about it, for fear that people would think she was crazy. Or worse, to serve as an experience for Aulus mal Asina.

But when Nero joined the legion's main intelligence branch, she was assigned to assist him and help him with Ultima Weapon's project to subdue the other Eorzean city-states, it was too much for Aria. She tried to find a way to leave the Praetorium and the Imperial Army. Desertion was not the solution. She knew that she would be hunted down and killed and that her action would shame her family. With her Magitek knowledge, she made a small device to make herself invisible and one day when she knew that a convoy was coming from Castrum Centri, she took the opportunity to blow up the laboratory from a distance, knowingly leaving her uniform and belongings behind to pretend to be dead.

Aria crossed the Northern Thanalan, taking care to hide the Third Eye on her forehead, and finally arrived at Ul'dah in a cart, after having had yet another vision. Knowing how to fight with a Gunblade, she joined the Gladiators' guild to start a new life... but her destiny as Warrior of the Light eventually revealed itself to her and she accepted the task Hydaelyn gave her.

Alt Verse: After joining Ul'dah and the Gladiators Guild, Aria's steps eventually led her to Mor Dhona where she heard Cid’s name circulate. Soon, she started looking for her old friend, whom she hadn't seen for many years. He offered her to join him among the Garlond Ironworks' team, she accepted with the greatest pleasure and followed him in his adventures.

She helped him as much as she could to defeat Gaius and bring the 14th Legion to its fall, and then worked with him on various projects. The manufacture of weapons and gears for adventurers, but also research on the Crystal Tower and Alexander.

Once these mysteries were solved, she settled for a while in Ishgard where she collaborated with the Skysteel Manufactory to improve the airships of the Holy City. This almost peaceful life suited her perfectly... until Omega crashed into Gyr Abania. Then, she decided to join her old friends to try to face this strange entity.

Designer Research - Zoe Ikin

About the Deisnger Zoe Ikin is from a family of creatives. Her dad, Humphrey Ikin, is a furniture designer and architect, and her mum and sister often joined her and her dad in the creative process. Her mother is also a designer, as well as her partner, Sam Trustrum. She studied Graphic Design at AUT, then worked in a few diferent places around the world, but says that her favourite destination is always home.

Choice of career - Graphic Design Her choice of career was mainly influenced by her parents, who were both designers. She grew up in a very creative environment, with “the table always filled with achitectual magazines” and always visiting the Auckland Art Gallery exhibitions. Zoe has chosen graphic design in particular because she is too impatient to be an architect: “I like the quick turnaround of graphic design”. Her main focus is on type, images, layout and digital execution. She says that “Typography talks in a certain tone; it helps copy and imagery tell a story in meaningful way.” Zoe has earned a few awards, such as multiple Gold Pins at the New Zealand Best Design Awards and in different countries, and worked with a few different big brands. These bands include Fisher and Paykrl, NZ Opera,VSA Partners in Chicago.

Career Zoe Ikin is a co-editor of ‘Studio Magazine’, is becoming a judje  for the Design Institutes ‘Best Awards’, and is also a design director of the Alt Group in Auckland. This desing agency has been called a “super power of creativity”. She works by connecting graphic design, industrial based product and digital design.

They drove the distance back to Kaon and BarrenRoad stretched greatly once they arrived back at his home.

It was an achitectually eccentric two story structure, with a small crystal garden in the front and colorful mineral crystals growing in pots like bouquets all about the house alongside the shining bead curtains draped to the side in the opened doorways, and slightly suggestive off world art adorning the walls. Quite a welcoming space regardless of his tastes.

"Take a seat or look around to your sparks content. I'll just be in the kitchen." he said as he took the bags from their errands down the hall.

Aria had been serving in the XIVth Imperial Legion for almost fifteen years. She clearly hadn’t joined the army by choice.

Daughter of Marcus nan Laesca, an Achitectus Magiteci at the head of one of Garlemald’s largest Magitek aeronautical firm, the young woman planned to follow in her father’s footsteps to improve the lives of the others citizens. But having graduated in the first three of her school year to the Magitek Academy with Cid and Nero, her abilities had not gone unnoticed and she had been forced, by skillfully manipulating her father, to join the army at just 18 years of age to wage war to Eorzea.

So when Nero had, in turn, joined the XIVth Legion, Aria didn’t know if it was a good or a bad thing. They were both gifted, but he had much more ambition than she had.

“Well, I might as well tell you that I’d be happy to do without it,” replied the young woman to her friend from the Academy. “I never asked to be here, unlike you. Everything I do here is against my principles, but I really have no choice but to obey orders.”
