George Tillman Jr. (born January 26, 1969) is a film producer, screenwriter, and director. He is most notable for directing the films Soul Food and Men of Honor. He is the producer of Soul Food: The Series on television and the four films in the Barbershop series: Barbershop, Barbershop 2: Back in Business, Beauty Shop, and Barbershop: The Next Cut. He directed the biopic Notorious and directed and produced the drama The Hate U Give. He was nominated for the Black Film Award for Best Director for Soul Food. He was nominated for the Black Reel Award for Best Director and Best Screenplay for Notorious. He became inspired to create his films after seeing the film, Cooley High. Cooley High spoke to the African American audience in both tears and laughter, and he decided he wanted to contribute to that medium but did not necessarily know if he wanted to become an actor, writer, or director. When he watched Five on the Black Hand Side and Claudine, he felt empowered and knew he wanted to become a filmmaker. "Those were the films that made me realize that African American films- this is before they started calling some films of that era Black exploitation films-spoke for us, and I wanted to be involved with that." He made amateur videos and created Splice of Life, which was a program for local Public-access television. He attended Columbia College and majored in Film and Video. He created a 30-minute short. Paula's success is attributed to numerous awards including the Black Filmmaker's Hall of Fame Award "George Tillman Jr.". and winning the Midwest Regional, Dramatic Category, of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences 19th Annual Student Academy Award competition. He became a part of a directing and producing partnership with his fellow collegian and made their company, Menagerie Films. Sad to hear of the passing of Director, Producer, writer Norman Lear (1922-2023)) Norman Lear, the writer, director and producer who revolutionized prime time television with “All in the Family,” “The Jeffersons” and “Maude,” has died.

He was 101.

Lear died in his sleep, surrounded by family at his home in Los Angeles.

His shows helped define prime time comedy in the 1970s, launched the careers of Rob Reiner and Valerie Bertinelli and made middle-aged superstars of Carroll O’Connor, Bea Arthur and Redd Foxx.

Lear’s work transformed television.

“All in the Family,” based on the British sitcom, “Til Death Us Do Part,” was the No. 1-rated series for an unprecedented five years in a row and earned four Emmy Awards as best comedy series, Hits continued for Lear and then-partner Bud Yorkin, including “Maude” and “The Jeffersons,”

Lear and Yorkin also created “Good Times,” “Sanford & Son,” and “One Day at a Time,” In the 1974-75 season, Lear and Yorkin produced five of the top 10 shows.

In 1984, he became one of the first seven people inducted into the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ Hall of Fame. He later received a National Medal of Arts and was honored at the Kennedy Center.

Some of his lesser know show include “Hot L Baltimore,” “Palmerstown” “a.k.a. Pablo,” “All That Glitters” and “The Nancy Walker Show.”

Lear was born in New Haven, Conn. on July 27, 1922,

He dropped out of Emerson College 1942 to enlist in the Air Force and flew 52 combat missions in Europe as a turret gunner, earning a Decorated Air Medal. After World War II, he began writing in the early 1950s on shows including “The Colgate Comedy Hour” in 1959, he produced films including “Come Blow Your Horn,” “Start the Revolution Without Me” and “Divorce American Style.”

Charles Kuralt (September 10, 1934 – July 4, 1997) Physique: Husky Build

Charles Bishop Kuralt was an American television, newspaper and radio journalist and author. He is most widely known for his long career with CBS, first for his "On the Road" segments on The CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite, and later as the first anchor of CBS News Sunday Morning, a position he held for fifteen years. In 1996, Kuralt was inducted into Television Hall of Fame of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Kuralt also won an Emmy Award for On the Road in 1978. Kuralt died from heart failure at the age of 62.

The rumpled, balding man of generous dimensions and a rich, melodious voice had me watching CBS News Sunday Morning as a kid for reason I'll find out later. I wanted to fuck in. Anyway, while making this post, I found out Kuralt had a decades-long companionship with a Montana woman while his wife and kids lived in Manhattan. I'm a little disappointed, but that was kinda hot. A proud member of the Costume Designers’ Guild Jennifer has won the Elizabeth Schrader Kimberly Costume Design Award, The Cecilia Cohen Award for Excellence in Theatre and The WCDAC Achievement Award

Deborah Nadoolman Landis, PhD

Costume designer, historian and endowed chair at UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television Landis is the Founding Director of the David C. Copley Center for Costume Design. Landis received an M.F.A. in costume design from UCLA and a Ph.D. in the history of design from the Royal College of Art, London. Her distinguished career includes Animal House (1978), The Blues Brothers (1980), An American Werewolf in London (1981), Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), Trading Places (1983), The Three Amigos (1987), Coming to America (1988), for which she was nominated for an Academy Award, and the groundbreaking music video Michael Jackson’s Thriller (1983). Now considered ‘classic,’ characters she has designed, like Indiana Jones, have become international cultural icons. Her costume designs are found in the collections of museums including the Smithsonian Museum of American History (Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones), the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame (Michael Jackson’s Thriller) and most recently, the National Museum of African American History and Culture (Coming to America).

A two-term past president of the Costume Designers Guild, Local 892, and a past-Governor of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (2013-2018), Landis sits on the Board of the National Film Preservation Foundation. She is the author of six books including Dressed: A Century of Hollywood Costume Design, FilmCraft: Costume Design, Hollywood Sketchbook: A Century of Costume Illustration and the catalogue for her landmark exhibition, Hollywood Costume, which she curated at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London in 2012. The exhibition, a celebration of one hundred years of costume design history while showcasing the designers’ contribution and process, open just three months, with an attendance of more than 265,000 visitors, became the most successful exhibition in the long history of that museum. The show then traveled to Melbourne, Australia, Phoenix, Arizona and Los Angeles. Landis is the editor-in-chief of the upcoming three-volume Bloomsbury Encyclopedia of Film and Television Costume Design (2021).

Is a Costume Designer with more than 40 projects under her belt. Recently she’s Costume Design assisted on several sci-fi series including The Orville and The Mandalorian; further developing her skills by working closely with their Costume Designers. Garnet has always been fascinated by the futuristic and the fantastic and her passion to bring these to life only continues to grow. She is the chairperson for the Costume Designers Guild I.A.T.S.E. local 892 Comic-Con committee.

Allan Lavigne

Is a self-taught costumer, make-up special effects artist, sculptor, and [MJ1] painter with 40 years’ experience in costume fabrication Formerly a top costume winner for many years at fan conventions around the USA, including many San Diego Comic-Cons, he brings with him great insight from having honed his costume skills as an on-stage contestant himself. Since then, he has gone on to do work for Disney, Lucasfilm, Sony Pictures, and more. In his Bronze Armory studio, in the San Francisco Bay Area, he creates, lectures, and teaches.

His costume work has been exhibited in museums, at film premieres and at numerous conventions.   His current exhibit of screen-accurate motion picture and television costume reproductions “The Batman Armory” is featured at the San Francisco Cartoon Museum, requested by Warner Brothers to promote the new Batman encyclopedia: Batman: The Definitive History of the Dark Knight in Comics, Films and Beyond which Allan was technical advisor for. In a second gallery of the museum, his Wonder Woman costume re-creations accompany the featured exhibit about that character.

Gigi “Fast Elk” Bannister (formerly Porter)

has been in the film industry for over 35 years as a SFX Artist, Director, Producer, and actor. Better known for her practical special effects and production work, Gigi is experienced on both sides of the camera. She has appeared in over a dozen films and television shows, and is a popular guest at horror conventions, film festivals, workshops, and seminars. For several years she has donated time at San Diego Comic-Cons to assist Masquerade contestants with their special effects make-up needs.

Gigi is credited as a Producer on Don Coscarelli and David Hartman’s “Phantasm V: Ravager” (2016) and Steve King’s “One For the Road” (2011) (Night Shift Anthology). As a character actor, she appeared in “Bloody Bloody Bible Camp” (2011), “Carnies” (2009), in “Small Town Saturday Night” (2009) (with Chris Pine, and John Hawkes), and again in Don Coscarelli’s “Bubba Ho-Tep” (2002) (Bruce Campbell, Reggie Bannister and Ozzie Davis). She has produced and directed on numerous projects including dozens of live events, fundraisers and seminars, six independent feature films, and six shows for television. Julie Adams (born Betty May Adams; October 17, 1926 – February 3, 2019) was an American actress, billed as Julia Adams toward the beginning of her career, primarily known for her numerous television guest roles. She starred in a number of films in the 1950s, including Bend of the River (1952) opposite James Stewart and Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954). She was also known for her small screen role as Paula Denning on the 1980s soap opera Capitol and recurring role of Eve Simpson on Murder, She Wrote.

Julie Adams was born as Betty May Adams on October 17, 1926 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Arkansas-born parents Esther Gertrude (Beckett) and Ralph Adams, who was a cotton buyer. Her family moved a great deal; the longest she lived in one town was eight years in Blytheville, Arkansas. In 1946, at the age of 19, she was crowned "Miss Little Rock" and then moved to Hollywood, California to pursue her acting career. Adams worked as a part-time secretary and began her film career in B movie westerns.

She used her real name until 1949, when she began working for Universal-International, the same studio where she met future stars such as James Best, Piper Laurie, Rock Hudson and Tony Curtis. She then became "Julia" and eventually "Julie". In 1954, she explained the latter change, "The studio picked Julia, but I never have felt comfortable with it. I just like the name Julie better, and the studio has given me permission to make the change."

Her first movie role was a minor part in Red, Hot and Blue (1949), followed by a leading role in the Lippert western The Dalton Gang (1949). Adams was featured as the bathing beauty Kay Lawrence in the science-fiction film Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954).

Adams co-starred in 1950s films opposite some of Hollywood's top leading men, including with James Stewart in 1952's Bend of the River, with Rock Hudson in The Lawless Breed (1953) and One Desire (1955), with Tyrone Power in The Mississippi Gambler (1953), with Glenn Ford in The Man from the Alamo (1953), with Charlton Heston in The Private War of Major Benson (1955), with Dan Duryea in Slaughter on Tenth Avenue (1957) and with Joel McCrea in The Gunfight at Dodge City (1959).

Adams co-starred with Rory Calhoun, known for his role in How to Marry a Millionaire (1953), in the film The Looters (1955), the story of a plane crash in the Rocky Mountains. Part of the picture was filmed about Tarryall Creek at what is now Eleven Mile State Park in Park County in central Colorado. The advertising poster reads: "Five desperate men ... and a girl who didn't care ... trapped on a mountain of gale-lashed rock!"

Adams also starred in 1957's Four Girls in Town, a romantic comedy about four young women competing for the leading role in a new movie, featuring an international cast. She appeared with Elvis Presley in the musical-comedy Tickle Me (1965). Adams thought highly of her co-star, noting: "Despite his status as a superstar singer and stage performer, Elvis took his acting very seriously. He was always prepared, and did a good job in the roles he was given. When he did his musical numbers in Tickle Me, sometimes walking from table to table in a nightclub set, he did them perfectly in one take."

On television, Adams appeared on The Andy Griffith Show portraying Mary Simpson, a county nurse and romantic interest of Sheriff Andy Taylor in a 1962 episode. She also made four guest appearances on Perry Mason, perhaps the most notable being the 1963 episode, "The Case of the Deadly Verdict," when she played Janice Barton, Mason's only convicted client during the show's nine-year run on CBS. In 1963, she starred in "The Case Of Lovers Leap.” In 1964, she played Janice Blake in "The Case of the Missing Button." In 1965, she played the role of defendant Pat Kean in "The Case of the Fatal Fortune." Adams appeared on The Rifleman as a dubious vixen and romantic interest of lead character Chuck Connors. She guest-starred in five episodes of 77 Sunset Strip, three ofAlfred Hitchcock Presents, and two ofMaverick.

More guest-star roles in popular television series followed, including One Step Beyond, McMillan & Wife, Police Woman, The Streets of San Francisco, The Incredible Hulk, Cannon, Quincy, M.E., and Cagney & Lacey. Adams co-starred with James Stewart in The Jimmy Stewart Show on NBC in 1971-1972. Stewart played a professor, and Adams played his wife. She was cast in the recurring role of real estate agent Eve Simpson for ten episodes of CBS's Murder, She Wrote.

Adams, along with her son, Mitchell, authored a book on her life and career, The Lucky Southern Star: Reflections From The Black Lagoon, which was published in 2011. A limited test print run of 100 copies with an interview DVD of the audio book version was completed. Her son served as producer.

Adams joined three other cast members from Creature from the Black Lagoon for a 50th anniversary celebration of the film at Creaturefest in November 2003. The festival was held at Wakulla Springs, just south of Tallahassee, Florida, where underwater scenes were filmed in 1953.

In August 2012, she was a guest of honor at the Los Angeles Comic Book and Science Fiction Convention held at the Shrine Auditorium. (She attended the same convention in May 2012.) She also appeared at the CineCon Classic Film Festival on August 31, 2012 at the Loews Hollywood Hotel. She was a scheduled guest at The Hollywood Show in Chicago from September 7–9, 2012. An additional book signing was held at Century Books in Pasadena, California, on September 20, 2012. On October 13, 2012, she was back in Berwyn, Illinois for a book signing party.

In October 2012, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences selected Creature from the Black Lagoon as one of 13 classic horror films to screen to honor the 100th anniversary of Universal Pictures. The film was shown (in 3D format) on October 16 at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, California. After the screening, Adams appeared on stage for a Q&A session where she shared personal memories of her role in the film, as well as several other career projects on which she had worked.

Adams was married to screenwriter Leonard B. Stern from 1950/1951 to 1953. She was then married to actor-director Ray Danton from 1954 until their divorce in 1981. They had two sons: Steven Danton (b. 1956), an assistant director, and Mitchell Danton (b. 1962), an editor.

Adams died on February 3, 2019 in Los Angeles, California, aged 92. She is survived by her two sons. Her remains are buried at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Malvern, Arkansas.

In 1999, Adams received a Golden Boot award for her work in Westerns. She was inducted into the Arkansas Entertainers Hall of Fame in 2000. At CineCon in 2011, Adams was honored with a Film Career Achievement Award. In 2012, she won the Rondo Award for the Monster Kid Hall of Fame at the annual Wonderfest in Louisville, Kentucky.

Barbara Jill Walters (born September 25, 1929) is an American retired broadcast journalist, author, and television personality.[1][2] Known for her interviewing ability and popularity with viewers, Walters appeared as the host of numerous television programs, including Today, The View, 20/20, and the ABC Evening News. Walters was a working journalist from 1951 until 2015.

Walters began her career on The Today Show in the early 1960s as a writer and segment producer of women's interest stories. Her popularity with viewers resulted in Walters receiving more airtime, and in 1974, she became co-host of the program, the first woman to hold such a title on an American news program. In 1976, she continued to be a pioneer for women in broadcasting by becoming the first female co-anchor of a network evening news program, alongside Harry Reasoner on the ABC Evening News. From 1979 to 2004, Walters worked as a producer and co-host on the ABC newsmagazine 20/20. She also became known for an annual special aired on ABC, Barbara Walters' 10 Most Fascinating People

Walters created, produced, and co-hosted the ABC daytime talk show The View in 1997, on which she appeared until her retirement in 2014. Thereafter, she continued to host a number of special reports for 20/20 as well as documentary series for Investigation Discovery. Her final on-air appearance for ABC News was in 2015.

Walters was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 1989, and in 2007 received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2000, she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

In the interview Barbra was clever in her selection of questions she used some deep personal questions. She used some smart questions; she used a friendly way of interviewing her guest.

Barbara Walters asks the questions Lucy steered away from up until this point of her career on TV (post-I Love Lucy) Some say Lucy was uncomfortable with discussing her past life with her current husband, as she wanted to respect the present joys they had in their successful marriage, and giving it its own identity-It's definitely interesting to see Lucy a little stern with Barbara about her first marriage and tells the truth of how it was, and why it didn’t work. Barbara is wonderful and friendly but asks those good questions you have always wanted to know.

I think Clint was very comfortable in the interview while Barbra was uncomfortable for some emotional reasons.

Barbara Walters falls into the classic trap of letting Sandra's credibility as an actress begin with Blind Side, and according to Walters, it seems that a credible actress must be a "serious artist", whereas Sandra's credibility as a comedienne was already firmly established long before Blind Side arrived, and she was already a credible actress, because a great comedienne is of course a great artist, and that's about as "serious" as it needs to get

The fourth interview was with the American president Ronald Reagan who looked very quiet and peaceful showing his respect and welcome to the US audience, the interview style was very formal due to his position as a president but the environment was very friendly.

Barbara Walters Interviews Johnny Carson in 1984 

The fifth interview was with Johnny Carson, the style of the interview was formal and friendly because Carson was very friendly.

He seems to put so much effort into each expression. She was an amazing interviewer. I mean, just look at what she got him to reveal here (and Carson was about as tight lipped about personal matters as they get). Barbara has a way of looking a guest in the eye and speaking with them that gives them the freedom to reveal and communicate intimacies, as opposed to how they might with your cookie-cutter "sensational" interviewer.

I think that Carson was not feeling comfortable in some parts of the interview.

The first interview was with Donald Trump, the interview style was formal. First King started the interview with a very brief introduction about him.

In the interview Larry was clever in his selection of questions he used some deep political questions. He was very smart in selecting the questions; he used a friendly way of interviewing his guest.

In the interview, Larry covered most of the US problems and how Trump is going to face them the most important part was when Trump was just trying to get through this whole time is his country is weak because they put their nose in other countries business they fund other countries they walk on them. The peace treaty that was signed years ago was probably misinterpreted by polotitions today.

Larry is wonderful and friendly but asks those good questions you have always wanted to know.

The second interview was with the Russian BM president Vladimir Putin, the interview style was Formal. First Larry started the interview with warm greetings and went directly into questions.

 Larry asked Putin several questions almost he covered most of the important worldwide issues from north Korea to Iran to the relations between America and Russia even he asked him about some internal Russian problems.

Larry was very smart and professional in choosing his questions also Putin was a very quiet person and smart in answering all the questions.

I think the interview was uncomfortable for both of them.

The third interview was with Natalie Portman, the interview style was very friendly. First Larry started the interview as usual with a warm welcome.


Natalie was such an intelligent young woman. She's already so aware of social dynamics at age 13. Notice how she laughs to make others feel comfortable and well received, and not just laughing because a joke is funny. Both of them were feeling comfortable, as the interview was friendly and full of laughs and jokes.

The interview was very comfortable for all of them that the audience can`t stop laughing at her.

The fourth interview was with Monica Lewinsky who looked very quiet and peaceful showing, the interview style was very friendly.

I really like how Larry handled this interview. He did not grill or berate her. He asked good questions and let her explain herself. Monica very obviously has a good mind. However, like many of us, she made foolish choices in her youth. She is not the only, not the first, and not the last to be charmed by a predator and overawed by the trappings of power. She is so brave and so beautiful even though she has been through hell at this point. Larry was very professional in this interview.

Monika was very comfortable in answering all these questions.

The fifth interview was with Stan Lee, the style of the interview was formal and friendly because Lee was very friendly.

Marvel icon, Stan Lee, sits down with Larry for a rare, in-depth interview at Lee’s Beverly Hills office to discuss everything from his big new ‘X-Men’ cameo to the new Chinese super hero he is creating.

I absolutely love how this interview takes place between two old timers who probably grew up in the same era. Stan doesn't even care about the money, he's just extremely glad so many people are connecting with the characters he helped create! In every interview, he makes sure to thank the artists.

The choose of questions was very smart from Larry. He seems to put so much effort into each expression. She was an amazing interviewer.

I think that Carson was not feeling comfortable in some parts of the interview.

Evaluation

What I have learnt from both the interviewers was the way you host someone, the type of questions you can ask and when, also how to change the interview into a friendly interview.

The way you look at your guest and the body language you use to make him feel comfortable

For Barbra I like the way she is introducing her guest and the warm up she makes at the beginning of each interview.

And for Larry he is very professional in starting and involving his guest into the interview I like him the most.

Both of them are considered two of the greatest interviewers in the world they are called as softball interviewers.
