The Holiday Arcade Archives Sale Is Here, With Pac-Man, Splatterhouse, The Tower of Druaga, and More

I know it's been a little quiet around here this week, but the holidays are like that. You know what else the holidays are like? Um... days... where you... sales good? I really should have thought that lead-in better. But, sales! Lots of them! It's one of the magical times of the year where Hamster puts some of its Arcade Archives titles on sale, and we've got ten to look at this time. If you don't see them yet, wait a bit and they will likely show up in your region before long. These titles should all be available on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, and do remember that repeat sales in this line of hundreds of games are rare indeed. Grab what you want while you can. The sale ends on January 6th 2025, so you have some time to consider your Christmas wallet damage. Let's check out the games on offer, as we usually do.
ACA NEOGEO Games (50% Off)
King of the Monsters

Kaiju wrestling, more or less. There's certainly a novelty to this one, and it's not hard to see why it was an early favorite on the NEOGEO platform. There are six different playable monsters, most of which are very obviously based on famous faces. You don't get much to chew on here as a solo player, but if you have a friend you can pull in you'll have a good time for a bit. What I'll say for this game is that if you're going to get it, getting it at half-price feels about right.
Crossed Swords

If you take the original arcade Punch-Out!! and give it a swords and sorcery makeover, you'll end up with something not unlike Crossed Swords. There are some light RPG elements here, but when I say light I really mean it. This is a really cool game, even if it's a little on the clunky side. Definitely worth the price of admission here.
Power Spikes II

This is another game where I think if you're going to pick it up, getting it on sale is better. It's a volleyball game. Futuristic cyborg-suit volleyball, if you like. This is a very simple take on the sport, but it works well enough. If you get into what it's doing, there's a little meat here for the solo player. More fun with a second player, of course. It's a sports game, after all.
Samurai Shodown IV

I'm not going to pretend I'm sufficiently well-versed in this series to speak to too much length about which one is the best, but I think Samurai Showdown IV is at the very least a strong one-on-one fighter on a platform where that really means something. It's possible you already own the Samurai Shodown Anthology and don't need this, but otherwise I think this is a very safe pick-up for fans of the genre.
Zed Blade

Continuing the theme, this is a game that you should get on sale if at all. It's an acceptable enough side-scrolling shoot 'em up, but nothing to write home about. I know some people like it more than I do, and maybe you'll be one of them. To be clear, I don't think it's a bad game, just kind of a bland one. Good soundtrack, though.
Arcade Archives Games (30% Off)
Pac-Man

I feel silly writing a short paragraph about Pac-Man. It's Pac-Man. You know Pac-Man. It's one of the most famous games of all-time. Do you want Pac-Man? Here is Pac-Man.
Splatterhouse

Namco's gory ode to all things 1980s slasher cinema, Splatterhouse might be a little clunky in the gameplay department but it more than makes up for it with its presentation. You might already have this in the Namco Museum for Switch, but otherwise this is a pick-up I certainly recommend.
The Tower of Druaga

The highly influential action-adventure game that a lot of people can't stand to play today, Druaga is a game that you really need to learn in order to enjoy. And since most of what you need to learn is obscure nonsense, what you really need is to exchange information with other players or just use the hints Hamster has kindly baked in here. I like this game. Many don't. It's already in Namco Museum on Switch, but if you don't own that, feel free to brave this adventure via this fine release.
The Legend of Valkyrie

Ah, now here's a keeper. The one thing to keep in mind here is that there is some text in this game and it's not translated from Japanese. With that said, I believe most people can muddle through when it comes up, and the bulk of the game is just good, straightforward entertainment. The graphics are neat, the soundtrack is awesome, and the game just has a ton of character. Worth it at full price, and a definite purchase on sale.
Rally-X

Another one of those iconic Namco titles, though most people tend to know it in its New form. That one is sold separately, unfortunately. So is this still worth it? To tell the truth, I'd plump the extra couple of bucks and get New Rally-X if you're interested in this game. Getting this vanilla version is only for the real die-hards. Do you really want Rally-X without the Lucky Flag? Maybe.

In the fast-paced world of sales, getting potential customers to engage and convert can be a challenge. Whether you're in the auto warranty industry, insurance, or another sector, the key to success lies in reaching the right person at the right time. That's where ACA Live Transfer comes into play. For businesses looking to improve their lead conversion rates, ACA Live Transfer by The Live Lead is a game-changer.
What is ACA Live Transfer?
ACA Live Transfer is a unique process that connects businesses directly with pre-qualified leads. Unlike traditional lead generation, where businesses receive contact details and attempt to follow up, live transfer ensures that when a lead is passed to your team, they are already on the line, ready to engage. This means there is no waiting, no uncertainty, and no wasted time.
The ACA Live Transfer system focuses on delivering high-quality leads that are vetted and ready to convert. These leads have shown genuine interest in the product or service, making them far more likely to engage, ask questions, and make a purchase. ACA Live Transfer takes the cold out of calling, offering a streamlined, efficient method for your sales team.
Benefits of ACA Live Transfer for Your Business
Higher Conversion Rates
When potential customers are already on the line, your sales team has a much better chance of closing the deal. With ACA Live Transfer, the hard work of initial outreach and qualification is done for you, meaning your team spends less time trying to capture interest and more time closing deals. This engagement builds trust and rapport, ultimately leading to better customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Time Efficiency
The time-saving potential of ACA Live Transfer cannot be overstated. Sales teams can jump directly into conversations with leads who are already interested, instead of spending time chasing down cold leads. This results in greater productivity, with your team spending more time closing and less time qualifying leads.
Cost-Effective
By eliminating wasted time on cold calls and unqualified leads, ACA Live Transfer can reduce overall marketing and sales costs. Since you're only speaking to leads who have shown interest, your team is working more efficiently, which translates to cost savings. This makes it an especially beneficial option for businesses looking to optimize their sales processes and drive higher ROI.

A Complete Guide to School Charity Events: Making a Difference Together

School charity events are an excellent way to bring students, teachers, and the community together for a noble cause. They provide an opportunity for schools to promote kindness, generosity, and a sense of responsibility toward society. Planning and organizing these events can be incredibly rewarding, but they can also present challenges. This guide will help you navigate the process, offering practical advice on organizing successful school charity events while keeping them engaging for everyone involved.
In this post, we’ll cover common topics with unique perspectives, challenges you might face, a step-by-step guide to planning a successful charity event, a case study for inspiration, and a thoughtful conclusion.
The Power of Giving: Why School Charity Events Matter
School charity events are more than just fundraisers; they instill important values such as empathy, cooperation, and leadership in students. These events offer hands-on experience in community service and build a foundation for future generations to stay connected with social causes.
Here’s why school charity events are essential:
Promote Empathy: Students learn to appreciate the challenges others face and develop empathy towards people in need.
Encourage Collaboration: Organizing charity events encourages teamwork, involving students, teachers, and parents.
Develop Leadership Skills: These events create leadership opportunities for students as they take on various roles and responsibilities.
Create a Sense of Community: Charity events foster stronger connections between schools and their surrounding communities.
Raise Awareness: They are platforms to raise awareness about important issues like poverty, health, and education.
By engaging in school charity events, students grow both academically and emotionally, leading to well-rounded personal development.
1. Types of School Charity Events You Should Know About
Not all charity events are created equal. Each event type can cater to different needs, goals, and demographics, so it’s crucial to pick the right one for your school. Below are some common charity event types that work well in schools:
a) Bake Sales: Tasty Treats for a Good Cause
Bake sales are a simple yet effective way to raise funds for charity. Students and parents can bake goods that are then sold to raise money. It’s a fun, hands-on event that everyone enjoys participating in.
b) Charity Run: Physical Activity with a Purpose
A charity run encourages fitness and community involvement. Students can get sponsored by family and friends to run a specific distance, with all proceeds going to a selected charity.
c) School Talent Show: Showcase Talent for Charity
School talent shows are a popular and entertaining event that can attract significant community support. Students, teachers, and parents can buy tickets to watch various performances, with proceeds supporting a chosen charity.
d) Non-Uniform Day: Dress Down for a Good Cause
In many schools, students wear uniforms. A non-uniform day, where students donate money to wear casual clothes for the day, can be an easy way to raise funds while allowing students to express their individual style.
e) Charity Auctions: Selling for a Cause
Organizing a charity auction where students, parents, and local businesses donate items to be auctioned off is another effective fundraising idea. The competitive nature of an auction often results in substantial contributions.
These events not only raise funds but also teach students that their efforts can make a meaningful difference in the world.
2. Challenges Faced in Organizing School Charity Events
While organizing school charity events can be incredibly rewarding, it’s not without its hurdles. Let’s look at some of the common challenges that event organizers face:
a) Time Management
Schools have tight schedules, and finding time to plan and execute a charity event can be challenging. Balancing academic responsibilities with event planning is something both students and teachers need to consider.
b) Participation
Ensuring enough participation is essential for the event's success. Getting students, parents, and the local community involved requires effective communication and promotion.
c) Budget Constraints
Charity events often require a small budget for promotional materials, venue setup, or supplies. Balancing costs to ensure more money goes to the chosen charity can be tricky.
d) Event Planning Experience
Many students and even teachers may not have much experience in event planning, which can lead to challenges in logistics, organizing resources, or managing time.
e) Legal and Safety Concerns
Organizing charity events in schools involves ensuring that all safety measures are in place. Permission forms, insurance, and safety regulations are key aspects to handle, especially when minors are involved.
Despite these challenges, with proper planning and delegation, successful charity events can be achieved.
3. Step-by-Step Guide to Organizing a Successful School Charity Event
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you plan and execute a successful school charity event:
Step 1: Set Clear Objectives
Before jumping into the planning process, define what you want to achieve. Ask yourself:
What charity are we supporting, and why?
How much money or awareness do we aim to raise?
Who will be involved?
Step 2: Form a Committee
Create a planning committee that includes students, teachers, and parents. Divide roles and responsibilities—marketing, logistics, fundraising, and coordination—to ensure that all aspects of the event are covered.
Step 3: Choose the Right Event
