because i am sad, don't have my nina meds and have the personality of tissue paper rn, will you take pity on me, pretty girl, and pray tell what the locations look like in ur fics? like how you imagine south park looks, maybe stan and kyle's old bed rooms, the sp survivor haus? starks pond, the vibes and stuff -- you can be as hyper specific as you want i really like detail and visualizing things <3 also you
Melda Tâe I sincerely hope this is a bright spot in the Sadsack!!! This is such a great ask too like what does the HWB elven palace look like? The train station in WGSIES? The Broken Bottle Quartet apt complex? Heidi’s coffee shop in ATLCTS? The bistro where ojv Craig and Kyle have Nerd Boy Time? The TWITR bunkhouse?
And I’ve said on multiple occasions that I suck an unfathomable amount of ass at actually putting setting descriptions into my fics. Not because I’m picturing scenes playing out in a blank void, or bc I’m not picturing things clearly, but 1) I fully convince myself that no one wants to read my boring drawn out descriptions, which is stupid and I’m aware of that bc I LOVEEEEE vivid imagery when I’m reading 2) I often forget that no one is envisioning what I am without visual explanations lmfao it’s just so There to me I forget my readers don’t live in my cursed brain 3) I have such a habit of getting too into Witty Banter™️ and I’ll write so much dialogue with the occasional action and realize I haven’t said shit about what the setting looks like
But boy oh boy do I have specific pictures in mind! Especially regarding settings. (God I need to make a fuckin Pinterest omg the OJV board alone would go stupid)
I’m gonna be so fuckin fr right now, I have way too many AU’s and I will be unhinged abt a lot of them, so, below the cut!
So, as a surprise to absolutely no one, I’m starting with the OrangeJuiceVerse!
That bizarre town our kids grew up in is very typical suburbia, with neatly arranged near identical houses and blacktop roads that the snow plow goes through the same time every morning. Downtown holds the major businesses and across the tracks, not even a block over from the main neighborhoods, is the handful of “ghetto” houses, right by the woods. And through those woods, with a small single lane street that is far too narrow and winding to be safe? Stark’s Pond. The clearing in the tree canopy that the parking lot provides is the best stargazing spot, far enough away from the minimal light pollution that a tiny mountain town emits. It’s not just a pond, more of a park, with a field next to the water that’s a well traversed snowball fight battleground and a single bench under an ancient oak tree. The pond freezes and that’s how you know winter is truly underway. Kids slipping and sliding on the ice with no adult supervision is the standard here. In the summer, the water is still so cold, fed by mountain runoff. The surrounding shore is rocky and the m5 regularly compete to see who can find the coolest stone in the gravel.
There’s an elementary school, middle school, and high school, all in the same block and sharing a parking lot. Makes it easy for bus drivers and parents dropping off their kids. The high school is WAY bigger than is warranted for how small the town is, and there’s a separate building for band and av club. The football “stadium” isn’t much, the bleachers are only a few rows high and the field house is little more than a locker room, the concession stand is tiny and only run by student council members, and the cow painted into the turf over the 50 yrd line is lopsided. The gym where pep rallies and volleyball and basketball games are held has better seating, but football is a big damn deal in sp and the whole town is crowded around the track fence if they don’t get a seat, cheering on the hometown boys on cold October nights with nothing but fireball and ridiculous amounts of school spirit in their systems.
Stan and Kyle practically live at each others houses growing up. They each have a “Super Best Sleepover Drawer” in the others rooms and when they were younger and still the same size? No one could tell who actually owned what clothing. Like, y’all dear god you are more intertwined than your fingers holding hands. Stan’s room is a messsssss! Especially when he’s not doing well mentally. And he holds on to every stray item so his dusty shelves are cluttered as hell. His pillows are flat as shit. Nothing in his closet has been folded properly in years. The only organized thing in that room is the record collection, the sheet music folder, and the dnd character breakdown. Kyle has stress cleaned Stan’s room before. And (think You Belong With Me music video) THEIR WINDOWS FACE EACH OTHER!!! Kyle’s room has so much of the same kind of decor as Stan’s, with the posters and the figurines and the wall of nostalgic Polaroids, but he’s so much more organized. Both the boys have Kenny Paintings, (Stan is the one mentioned in this and Kyle’s is one of him as the elf king when they’d play as youngsters) and Kyle’s is hung level on the wall and Stan has his propped on his desk.
Ohhhh man the SP Survivor Safehouse, I described it some here and it really is such a College Kid House!!! They found the cheapest place to rent close to campus that would fit the 5, and it’s a SHITHOLE! It’s old as fuck and falling apart, the foundation is crooked, the blueprint must’ve been drawn by someone with severe distraction problems because for a place that’s not all that big, it’s labyrinthine in its random layout and the out of place way too high to reach ledges and the fireplace but no chimney and the ridiculousness of the narrow backyard, doing laundry in that house is a NIGHTMARE like the washer is downstairs and the dryer is in a separate room upstairs that logistically should be a bathroom. The kitchen tile is so old and cracked, and there’s this weird half wall facing the living room with a window? Also the walls are thin as hell and that staircase? Good god. Steep as fuck, tilted to the left, no railing, everyone has fallen on the Widowmakers multiple times. The garage door doesn’t work. The water heater is older than god. But this is their house, and they make it work.
I also want to describe the waterfall from How We Began, as specific and random as that is lmao. Think Multinoma Falls in Oregon, with a long trail to the top and no man made bridge over it. And it freezes like that one waterfall in narnia. Completely solid, snow and frosted trees on both sides at the summit, just the perfect place to meditate and reflect, because the reflection off the ice is like a rippled mirror. (Actually and so fr I need art of chapter 12 so bad rip) that place is BEAUTIFUL with the mountains in the background, the icicles refracting light, pine trees with needles dusted with snow, large rocks overlooking the edge of the cliff and the forest surrounding it!!!
Oh damn also the Big House in The Webs In The Rafters is the most eerie looking house of all time. At the end of that twisting gravel drive, to the left of the western pasture, sits this giant black mansion. It looks wayyyy too gothic to be on a ranch. And most of the rooms are unused, that place feels cold and dark even when the farmhands are in for dinner at that huge table in the dining room. The upstairs office has all these strange carvings in the wooden walls, Craig’s massive granite desk is right in front of the window that sees the whole front part of the land. And both that house and the bunkhouse are ancient as the “haven” itself. The walls have crawlspaces big enough for a full grown person to fit in. Like there’s a maze in the walls. The upper pasture isn’t visible from the master bedroom at the back of the top floor, and there’s a tree by the pond that Butters’ ducks live in that’s the first thing the morning light touches. That spot, where Ken and butters had their first kiss in chapter 16, is the only place that doesn’t feel stifling on the entire land.
Dude the haunted house in In The Truly Gruesome! It is legit the most cheesy haunted house of all time, set up in what is essentially a double wide trailer, no bathroom, no kitchen, barely a tiny breakroom at the back, the decor is the cheapest spirit Halloween shit imaginable and just lame shit like a bowl of peeled grapes that are supposed to feel like eyeballs in the mad scientist area. That front office with its plywood walls and plastic door is the most unromantic setting for a love confession, but Stan and Kyle made it work. The breakroom “furniture” is a random hodgepodge of booths from a closed McDonald’s and tables someone found on the side of the street. The mini fridge has nothing in there but a moldy jar of pizza sauce and a single half drank mellow yellow. This place is absurd. I love it.
AND I loved this ask! You always send me such great things my beloved omg never stop! <3
#this took longer than it should have#because I thought about Hades!Craig and got distracted reading WGSIES#and then i cried#because that fic is sad as hell#also I’m a pussy#but yeah#asks#south park#headcanon#fic writing#au’s#scene descriptions#my shit#OrangeJuiceVerse#other works#style#them

📔. ---maybe something about Jamie because I am absolutely feral for how you write him
Okay so Obviosuly I have to talk about my soft apocalypse au, which I've written a flash fic for already here if anyone is interested. But Asteria, I hear you cry, what the fuck even is a soft apocalypse?
SIMPLE, a soft apocalypse is essentially I am a big old baby who doesn't actually like apocalypse media because the inherent violence and cruelty and suffering of it all makes me feel bad inside but does enjoy post apocalypse vibes and aestheticism! So a soft apocalypse is basically the world ending through non violent means, and people coming together in the aftermath to rebuild because I believe in the indomitable human spirit and also that violence is not inherent to humanity and that is a hill I am going to die on.
also this got really long so a majority of it's gonna be under the cut.
ONTO the actual au and also specifically the Jamie of it all. In my head, the world ends due to a bunch of massive natural disasters that lead to the collapse of the world as we know it. For the first few years after this happens, there is a general sense of violence and anarchy that makes surviving difficult and scary. Ted and Beard were in england when it happened at some kind of conference for American football don't ask me the details this is a half thought out plot device. They get stranded in England because travel becomes virtually impossible. This does not stop Ted, who is trying to get back to Michelle. No Henry, because this is happening when everyone is a bit younger than their canon counter parts. What does stop Ted however, is Beard getting gravely injured in their attempts to find a way home. This is how Ted and Beard end up at Nelson Road.
Nelson Road, at the time of Ted and Beards arrival, is essentially Rebecca's fortress. She's there alone, and has been pretty much since the world ended. She tells herself it's best that way, because survival is hard enough when your only looking out for yourself, but then Ted turns up at her doorstep with his injured friend and he's the first genuinely kind person she's met in years. She lets them stay, it's supposed to be temporary, because she doesn't trust them and they still want to get home. It does not end up being temporary. That's a whole other post in itself.
So, Ted, Beard and Rebecca are now holding down the fort of Nelson Road, and unfortunately for Rebecca, now that she's got Ted's bleeding heart on her team there's no way she's getting away without picking up any more strays. And more strays does she get!
They actually find Nate first, who had been camping out in Nelson Road for just as long as Rebecca but stayed completely hidden, which is surprisingly easy to do when your in a big ass football stadium with only one other person. Ted stumbles across him and brings him into the main fold. Next is Roy and Keeley, who have been traveling together for a few years. Roy is looking for his sister, Keeley is just looking for somewhere to be, they run into Ted while they're all scavenging in the ruins of the city and he offers them a place at Nelson Road for as long as they'd like. Rebecca tries to be upset about it, but Keeley worms her way into her heart so quick and Roy ends up being a very useful asset in terms of supply scavenging. More people start appearing who need somewhere to stay, or supplies that Nelson Road has, and eventually Nelson Road has it's own small community that is thriving, helping each other survive and live.
Sam is actually the first member of the team Ted finds, and the key aspect of this au is that the team are children in the apocalypse, born and raised in the end of the world. Sam is the youngest, at about 8 years old. Ted finds him, and Sam is looking for his father who he lost while traveling. Ted takes Sam back to Nelson Road and promises to keep him safe and help him find his father. After Sam, Ted just seems to keep finding kids with nowhere else to go. Colin, Isaac, Jan Maas, Bumbercatch, everybody is eventually at Nelson Road. Ted is the one put in charge of managing the kids since he's the one who keeps finding them, and thats fine by him.
Jamie is one of the last of the team members to be found, and he's actually found by Roy. I've mentioned scavenging a couple of times now, which is pretty self explanatory. It's dangerous, both because it's a lawless land and because most buildings are extremely structurally unsound thanks to earth quakes and general corrosion. It's somewhat necessary though, for crucial supplies like medicine or clothes and such, So, usually the people who do it are the most physically fit of a group. Roy is usually the one who scavenges for Nelson Road, Keeley comes with him sometimes, Ted and Beard do as well.
Jamie, who is about 10 years old in this AU, is a scavenger for his dad. While at this point in time, most people are settled into small communities, Jamie's dad and his friends are not. They travel from place to place with the intention of trading the shit they find to communities in need of supplies for shit that they want. One day, Jamie gets trapped in a building while on a scavenge, and rather than going looking for him or even just waiting a bit longer, James Sr cuts his losses and takes off, leaving Jamie stranded in Richmond. Jamie makes the best of a bad situation, and sets up a little home base in the ruins of a coffee shop. It's not sustainable, but he's 10 years old and doesn't have a better option. One day, while on a scavenge, Roy ends up in Jamie's coffee shop and almost gets knifed by a semi feral 10 year old. Roy drags him back to Nelson Road kicking and screaming, because whats he supposed to do? leave a kid out here to die? no.
Jamie is, to put it lightly, a fucking menace. He wasn't raised in a community like most of the other kids so he's got no frame of reference for how to socialize with them, he doesn't trust any one at Nelson Road as far as he could throw them, and if not for the fact they were providing him with food and shelter, he absolutely would have run the first chance he had. Getting Jamie to stop threatening to stab people with his pocket knife is a Long and drawn out process. It takes a while, but Jamie does eventually settle in at Nelson Road, he starts to make friends and bond with the others and feel a bit more safe. It doesn't come about until they find Dani though.
One of the main rules for the kids at Nelson Road is that they aren't actually allowed to leave the stadium. Most of the kids follow that rule really well, because it is in fact dangerous and scary outside the stadium. Jamie sucks at following this rule, because his frame of reference for dangerous and/scary is extremely warped. This ends up being a good thing though, because one day when Jamie sneaks out, he finds Dani, who is injured and hiding under a half collapsed bridge. Jamie, up until that point, always had a pretty selfish view of survival thanks to that being what his dad taught him and if he had still been with his dad, he probably would have ignored Dani entirely. But he'd been at Nelson Road for a while at that point, and as dumb as he thought the people help people shit they were preaching was, Dani was basically his age, and he was hurt, and Jamie knew that they'd help him.
So, Jamie drags Dani back to Nelson Road with him, uncaring of the fact he will probably get in trouble for sneaking out again after already having been told off for it a few times at that point. They do help Dani, just like Jamie thought they would, and he still gets lectured for sneaking out, but they also tell him that he did the right thing and that they were proud of him for it, and it switches something on in his brain. Also Dani had basically imprinted on him and decided they were best friends now, so Jamie had no choice but to start hanging out with the other kids because Dani is the friendliest guy alive.
I love this au more than life itself but I'll probably never write a longfic for it. Just know I have EVEN MORE thoughts on it stored in my brain if you have any questions.

I've always enjoyed football, mostly going to football games, but I've never gotten into an NFL team. I've followed USU and Utah, and that's about it. Turns out, it just took Taylor Swift dating Travis Kelce to turn me into an NFL fan haha. I have become fully invested in the Chiefs, and now look forward to watching the games every week!
I asked Whit if she would want to send it out to Arrowhead, to see a home game in person, and she was down to do it. We went through the entire season schedule, and narrowed it down to four games that might work. October 7 was my first choice, because it would give us the best weather, they would be playing the Saints, and there weren't other conflicts to worry about. Whit liked that day best as well because it fell over her fall break, and she wouldn't have to worry about missing school. The only problem was she was already scheduled at work that weekend, and it took her quite a while to get those shifts covered, so by the time she was clear, we were only a week out from the game. Flight prices were absolutely wild. We were looking at upwards of $800+ to fly round trip on Delta. Other airlines were a little better, around $400-$500, but involved 24 hour layovers, or wouldn't get us home in time to work on Tuesday. I must have spent three straight days agonizing over how to make it work, or if we even should. Ticket prices weren't bad, but how to get out there? I finally determined that the best option would be to drive out there in a rental car, and fly home. The one-way flights home were affordable, although a little depressing that we were paying as much or more for a one-way than you would for round-trip if it wasn't so last minute haha. The one-way drive was like 15 hours, and the car rental wasn't too pricey. But still, so much effort. But knowing Whit and I, it was full-send or nothing. So we booked the tickets, booked the car, had a hotel halfway there in Nebraska, and just made it happen!
We left on Sunday morning to start the drive, and I was dreading it, but it honestly went pretty quickly. I had to fight the car rental guy to give me the car I selected, rather than a truck or SUV, but it worked out. We spent the night at a little hotel in Nebraska, and then got up bright and early to finish the drive Monday morning. Once we made it to Kansas City, we stopped by a Dick's Sporting Goods to get some KC merch for the game. I got a Travis Kelce jersey in a youth size to save some serious money, and Whit got a cute Chiefs shirt. We had a quick lunch, and then went to our hotel so we could check in and get ready.
We wanted to be at Arrowhead as long as possible, since we'd come all this way, and get the full game day experience. As we pulled up and parked, I saw that Jason Kelce had announced he'd be hitting the tailgate scene, and we were on a mission to find him. It's such a parking lot party on game day, and everyone was cooking, playing games, and blasting great music. Such good vibes. We walked and walked around forever, but we never did find Jason. We were so close, but missed him. He'd already gone in.
So we followed his lead, and went in, and right down to the field level to hang for awhile before kick-off. We saw everyone! Jason was down on the field doing the pre-game show, Kylie Kelce walked right by us, and Kam Saunders (an Eras dancer) was down on the field supporting his brother who plays for the Saints! Rumor has it that Kam and his brother Khalen were the ones to introduce Travis and Taylor, because Khalen used to play for the Chiefs!
We were taking in Arrowhead Stadium from close-up, and loving it. We watched warm-ups, but we were standing on the Saints' side, so that was unfortunate. I'm surprised how long they let us just hang out down there, with no pressure to go to our actual seats haha. But we headed up in time for kick-off! We were sitting in the upper bowl, but in the middle of the field, and had a great view. This game was so good too. We watched the most fun lateral play by Travis, and we saw Khalen both tackle Travis and also catch and run an interception, which is not common for one of the big guys on defense! Patrick threw some weird passes, but otherwise, they did so great! We loved learning all the fan traditions, and being a part of it all!
At half time, we went on another mission to find Taylor. We knew she was there, and looking BEAUTIFUL by the way, so we thought we'd head down and see if we could see her. We knew where the box suites were, and we picked a random aisle to go down. Some fans that were down there knew we were looking for Taylor helped us find where we needed to go. As we were walking down the right aisle, there were police standing in front of the section stopping anyone who didn't have tickets there. Luckily, they were preoccupied with talking to some guys, and we slipped down behind someone who had tickets. My heart was racing haha. We found some empty seats to use, until the people who were sitting there came back! And we had the most perfect view of their suite!!! Immediately I could see Scott Swift (Taylor's dad) and Jason Kelce hanging out. Then I could see Kylie and Ed Kelce! And FINALLY, when the third quarter started, Taylor came out to the front!!!!! I was screaming inside. Once again, she was RIGHT THERE. A real life human. It's so cool to experience being near her like that. And she was talking with Brittany Mahomes! Literally, the gang's all here. We spent about half of third quarter down there, before going back to our seats to finish the game.
I'm sorry, but we for sure picked the best game to be at. It was a WHOLE PARTY. And they won! 26-13! We had fireworks to close out the game, and then we went back down the field for some more pictures.
So perfect, and Whit's first NFL game! So glad we did it, even if I only got an hour and a half of sleep before having to get up and go to the airport to start my journey home, and go straight to work once I landed haha. WORTH IT. GO CHIEFS!
Now I want to be at every single game... wish it was just a little closer!

PART TWO!!!!
Moving on to the other Packers who would be in this film...
But first, before that, a bit of background:
In 80 for Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola were all indeed in it!!
Their parts were small overall but still made a difference to the plot. (:
It was great to see them play their roles and I fully believe that the Packers you have mentioned could easily find their own roles as themselves just as Rob, Julian, and Danny did.
So without further ado!!:
Bakh, for those who might not know, is David Bakhtiari. ⬇️
He is the Packers offensive tackle.
I highly recommend looking up other pictures of David; this man seems to be extremely entertaining and perfect for what the overall vibes of what this movie would be. (Also, yes, he absolutely would be making 69 jokes the entire time; especially because that's his actual jersey number!!)
Meanwhile, Cobb is Randall Cobb. ⬇️
Randall is a Packers wide receiver.
He doesn't take himself to seriously and yeah, would also blend in seamlessly with the rest of the cast!!
I'd also like to add wide receiver Jordy Nelson to the cast. ⬇️
I know that Jordy is retired now, but he's still a Packers icon and I think that he definitely deserves to have a small role in this movie as well. 😊
Last but not least, I'm gonna expand upon your "everybody gets COVID" ending!!
So they all eventually do make it to the game and see Aaron win.
Before that though, each of them individually run into Martin Kove's cop character.
When the first character out of the Dodgers sees Kove, they are shocked and a little frightened, even though they all know that he's coming for them and are of course wearing hilarious disguises.
Eventually, as each one runs into him, they all get a big kick out of talking to him without him knowing about who they actually are.
After the game is finished, they are able to leave the stadium without getting caught, but right when they are getting ready to drive off, Martin finally recognizes them and tries to stop them.
Luckily, it's right then that they randomly see Matt LeFleur (Green Bay's head coach!!) and are able to convince him they are with him.
(Matt!! ⬇️)
Martin is like, "Ummm...sure, ok, I highly doubt this, but whatever. I am gonna come back for all of you though!"
He storms away and they thank Matt for having their backs even though he doesn't know them at all. 🤭
They continue on their journey, now getting ready to go back to Canada, but make a top at a little restaurant before going back to the hotel.
They're sitting around, eating and reminiscing about how it's unfortunate that they didn't get to meet Aaron.
Just then though, the restaurant door opens and who should walk in but the man himself. 😎
He's all alone and after the waiter/waitress takes his drink order, they all dare each other to go up to him. Jeff Bridges character is the one who does, and they have a nice little conversation before Jeff invites the rest of the gang over to chat and get pictures with Aaron.
A week later, everyone is on video chat talking to each other virtually instead of in person because they all caught COVID from Aaron. ("It was worth it though!" They all agree.)
The final scene is a call back to something that happened in the first act when we were getting to know everybody; something goofy but still "awweeeee!!!" worthy. (:
Martin Kove also gets some kind of last shot in there too! 😅🕵🏻♂️
Last but not least, there's a post-credit scene of Aaron with Matt in a smoke-filled room, surrounded by lots of other handsome men (other footballers but also random hot men as well 😏😉😌). They have a short back-and-forth before enjoying a little kiss with each other.
And that's the end!!
THAT'S Draft Dodgers for Rodgers!!!!
WHEW!!!
In conclusion of my very long answer, I just wanna say that I had the best time imagining and working through all of this, Anon!!!!
I'm not sure what inspired you to bring this idea to me, but I'm super thrilled that you did!!!!! 🤩🔥💯💥
Thank you for being patient and waiting on me to reply to you!!
I knew that I was eventually gonna answer you, but as mentioned above, just needed a little time to gather the additional information and pictures that you see here. 😊
This is all-around a super fun idea!! 💖
Thanks again for sharing it with me and major Kudos to you for thinking it up in the first place!!!!!
I feel like a spiritual sequel to “80 for Brady” would be “Draft Dodgers for Rodgers” in which 4 ancient hippies from the Vietnam era (Steve Buscemi, Geoffrey Rush, Al Pacino, John Goodman) sneak across the border from Canada in an attempt to watch fellow hippie Aaron Rodgers get to his second Super Bowl at age 54. Martin Kove plays a hard nosed yet incompetent cop trying to catch them. Bakh and Cobb are there too. Christopher Walken makes an appearance because it’s that kind of movie. There’s at least 1 extended ayahuasca hallucination scene. Everybody ends up getting covid
Alright, anon, here I am, ✨FINALLY✨ publishing your amazing and funny idea!!!
It took me a minute (ok, a few days...👀🤭😜💓) because I wanted to find clips and pictures for all of everything you have describe. 😊🌟💯🔥
First and foremost, I would so go see this movie if it were real. (For context, I saw 80 for Brady the weekend it was released because of course I did 😅💞)
This idea overall sounds silly, entertaining a.f. and all around like a good time!!
To add onto your idea:
It would at least have to be rated PG-13, especially because of the ayahuasca hallucination scene. I also suspect that there will be a bit of swearing, heavy partying and drinking, too. PLUS not to mention that they are on the run from the law and that will provide a whole 'nother set of mischievous/dubious acts. 😏😉😝
Real quick, for those who might not know, this is what Google says the definition of "ayahuasca" is:
"A South American psychoactive and entheogenic brewed drink traditionally used both socially and as a ceremonial or shamanic spiritual medicine among the indigenous peoples of the Amazon basin, and more recently in North America and Europe."
(In other words, hippie tea 😅☮️🫖🍵)
Now, as for who's gonna direct this amazing monstrosity, I have pulled together three options.
There's Kyle Marvin, who directed 80 for Brady.
Then I have Peter Segal, who directed two of my personal favorites, Tommy Boy and 50 First Dates.
Last but not least, there's Dennie Gordon as an option. Dennie was the director of the first Joe Dirt movie (comedy writer Fred Wolf directed the second).
Either one of these three would be wonderful and would understand that there is a more deeper heart and soul in the middle of this otherwise goofy flick. (:
Next:
Anon, you and I seem to understand each other, so I'm gonna go ahead and say that we can be co-screenwriters and executive producers for this!!!
If we really were out to make this, that is. 🤭😊🤓
ALSO!!! Draft Dodgers for Rodgers is an EXCELLENT title; I love it a lot and am really proud of you for coming up with this title (and the idea in general, of course!!)!!
Now, before moving on to everything else, I must discuss this film's soundtrack.
Clearly there's gonna be a lot of classic rock and older country tunes because that's the era that these men are from.
The classic rock is not gonna be anything too rough/screamy/meataly, though...I'm primarily thinking about stuff from the mid 60's and most of the 70's. Cover songs from and during this era are absolutely acceptable. 😌
Also, because this is an Aaron Rodgers movie, there has got to be a few Taylor Swift songs mixed in as well!!
I don't know if he can, but Aaron can try to pick put his top three tracks from each album/era as songs to possibly put into the overall end product.
And you know what, while we're at it...
Dolly Parton recorded a new, original song specifically for 80 for Brady so whose to say that Taylor couldn't do the same for this movie?!
Her fans, Aaron included, would be very likely to love it, no matter what it sounds like. (:
Now, to address all of your points...!!
I'd like to take a moment to share the other ask you sent me after I wrote this (the first post, hehe).
Replacing Geoffrey Rush with Jeff Bridges was a really great call; I'm so glad that you remembered Aaron's obsession with The Big Lebowski and the exact sweater that he copied from that movie!!! For everyone's viewing pleasure, here is Aaron wearing said sweater next to a still of Jeff's character (named The Dude) wearing the sweater.
Also, I wouldn't be me if I didn't find pictures of the rest of this hypothetical cast, just so that everyone knows for sure what these guys look like.
Top Left: Jeff Bridges
Top Right: Al Pacino
Middle Left: Steve Buscemi
Middle Middle: John Goodman
Middle Right: Martin Kove
Bottom Left: Christopher Walken
(And yes, that is a picture of Geoffrey Rush (bottom right) because even though Jeff Bridges replaced him, people still deserve to know he looks like in case they don't!!)
Additionally, saying that Weird Al should perform his Jeopardy Song was brilliant!! Fans of Aaron know that he loves Jeopardy and even got the chance to participate in some game, as seen here and here. (He also had the opportunity to host once, but the only clip that I could find of that was this. 😩)
P.S.-Here is the Jeopardy song for those who don't know it 🙂: https://youtu.be/BvUZijEuNDQ
THIS IS PART ONE!!!
I'm gonna reblog for Part Two because I have a few more pictures to share but for some reason, Tumblr won't let me add any more photos to this current post. 😒🙄☹️

I was so overwhelmed by the Christmas ep that I don't think I even did a reaction post, but please consider me squealing with joy about everything but particularly Bumbercatch's knitting and Isaac as the only Santa Claus I will ever sexually fantasise about.
anyway
another Friday, another day in which the Ted Lasso writers shamelessly toy with my emotions and make my heart explode into teeny tiny pieces
I know some people didn't enjoy it but even as someone who's not that invested about romcoms I loved all the little references - I think it's always obvious when show writers are having fun with a concept and that fun ends up being infectious. that's precisely what this ep felt like: even if you don't personally vibe with it, it's still fun.
Bantr is now officially sponsoring the team! You love to see it. I wonder if we'll see any more of Dubai Air - or potentially see the financial fallout of the team going from being sponsored by a major airline to a new start-up dating app - but it's a nice bit of continuity.
I'm sure going to miss Roy-as-Pundit, but sometimes good things have to leave to make way for better things - bring on Coach Roy! The fact that his love for football ended up being the climax of the whole romcom arc was lovely - the dramatic romcom run to the stadium, leading to him coming back to his pitch and being greeted by his old chant? Not ashamed to say it: there were tears.
I love Isaac and Roy's underrated broship, so seeing Roy making an effort to connect with him and encourage him was absolutely lovely. And Roy and Ted back together again!
There were so many pure moments in this ep I can't even begin to describe. Getting Isaac back to himself by reminding him what he loved about the game as a kid all over again? More tears. Him leading the warm-up with a goofy kids' game and all the guys remembering to just have fun with a game they would all have fallen in love with when they were all young. Niagara Falls.
THE HIGGINSES. Such an unjaded portrayal of an established married couple who are still as bonkers about each other as they've always been.
Silly Rebecca! Silly stretching Rebecca! <3 <3 <3
Nate's on the right path in settling into himself and gaining more confidence, but we've still clearly got a little way to go - I'm interested to see if the introduction of Roy to the coaching team will have a big impact (after all, we know Nate's always looked up to Roy, and if there's anyone who Nate will worry is about to take his place...). I'm glad we're getting more demonstrations of why Nate's been acting out a bit this season, and seeing more of his insecurities just makes me want to hug him. (And yes, I'm still waiting for the Nate Strut.)
Also I love how geniune and kind Keeley was with Nate and figuring out straight away that he didn’t want to get famous just for fame’s sake. I really want to see more of them in future: I feel like Nate needs some good female friends.
Dani: 'My mother said I was born caffeinated.' OH DANI.
Sadly not much Sam or Jamie in this episode, but I appreciate Sam's recognition of the Bridget Jones movies. (On that note: as another romcom shoutout I would have loved to see a mock-up of the Colin Firth and Hugh Grant fight in this episode - arguably the best scene in romcom history - but I realise the universe cannot give us everything.)
Colin posting about Welsh independence! I've said it before and I'll say it again: every new episode I start by thinking I couldn’t love his character more, and every episode Billy Harris and the writers decide to prove me wrong.
‘But it will all work out. Now it may not work out how you think it will, or how you hope it does, but believe me: it will all work out exactly as it’s supposed to. Our job is to have zero expectations and just let go.’ WELL COLOUR ME SCARED OF THIS IMPENDING DARK FOREST.
This whole therapy thing is bearing down on Ted like an avalanche and I for one am here for the emotional fallout.
Maybe it's being screwed around repeatedly by tv showrunners who want to prove how smart they are (SW, GoT, Moffat, Marvel) by whipping the rug out from under the viewers' feet, but I am so tense and so suss about this 'Ted and Rebecca are totally chatting on Bantr' thing that it's driving me crazy. On the one hand: I need it so much it's like air. On the other hand: if this turns out to be a double-bluff would that mean that the showrunners do have Ted & Rebecca as endgame and just want to do a bit of messing with us first? I DON'T KNOW and it's driving me mad.

please keep talking abt wrestling. i've kinda fallen into this hole recently and, since you're cool af, I would love to know whatever you have to say about it
Well I mostly watch AEW although I was very into Progress before the pandemic (which is a London-based indie promotion that's also basically the feed source for NXT UK) but idk whether or in what state Progress will come back not just bc of the pandemic but bc this year's wrestling abuse scandals involved a lot of their management and core roster so they've had to really reshuffle.
anyway that's an unnecessarily grim diversion let's talk AEW (I'm a few episodes behind bc I watch on Zoom with my pals and it's easy to fall behind while trying to line up our schedules, we're gonna watch Winter Is Coming tonight)
This blog's opinions are:
Women's wrestling is severely underrated and that's the fault of the promotion not the fans, AEW has a phenomenally talented women's roster with a big fan following but consistently gives them no air time, very little space to develop plots, one match per episode that the commentators half-ignore, and only ever one plot at a time. I love Hikaru Shida, Nyla Rose and Britt Baker as characters but there's a huge women's roster of compelling characters who only ever show up on Dark or for a single bout not tied into any particular plot on Dynamite and it's very wearing. When they launched AEW they made a big deal about equal pay for the men and women's rosters and paying the same regardless of gender and fan status, purely based on card position, but that means absolutely nothing if there's only ever one women's match and it's always at the same mid-card position. Sorry to open on a negative but it makes me so mad that WWE, the company which is notoriously misogynistic and whose director had to be shown Asian schoolgirl porn to accept that the audience would find Japanese wrestlers "sexy enough" to put in the ring, is somehow a better venue for women's wrestling than AEW. like fuckkkkkkkkk just treat the women's roster like you would the men's!!!!
on which note, AEW Heels, the Paid Fanclub For Women Who Like Wrestling, is the most half-assed attempt to court the female wrestling audience I've ever seen (and I watched WWE's Revolution pay-per-view where the line was 'isn't it nice that the men have allowed women to have their own PPV thanks to all the men who made this possible'). like ok I COULD give you money to Be A Female Fan OR, wild concept, you could do more than one women's match per episode on your flagship show and not relegate the women's tag title to YouTube
Relatedly, There's Too Much Wrestling. As you can probably tell from the fact I'm 4 episodes behind on Dynamite, I struggle enough to fit 2 hours of wrestling into my week, but AEW also expected me to keep up with Dark, BTE, and sometimes other side projects? and now also Impact and NWA and sometimes NJPW. and then if I want to recognise big names they're bringing in I would also have had to watch WWE which like. there's even more WWE than AEW. idk I'm a completionist and it's simply not possible to watch All The Relevant Wrestling bc that would be like. 20 hours a week and I have a job and a life and stuff. like I watch AEW Dynamite and BTE and that does me.
this is all very negative but I love wrestling! I got into it a couple of years ago and it's absolutely incredible to me I love the artistry I love the athleticism I love the creativity and the fun people have with their characters. and the reason I gave up on WWE as soon as AEW started up is that it feels so much like the wrestlers are given space to play and to find the stories they want to tell.
MJF is a DELIGHT he's like one of my favourite heels he's so loathsome and so much fun! and there's like a really good consistent emotional core to his overall storyline of desperate insecurity I'm so into it and I'm so hype about when inevitably Wardlow's gonna turn on him. I love the resonance of his relationship with Cody vs his relationship with Wardlow and also the extremely strong gay unrequited love vibes that keep popping up here.
Hikaru Shida is AMAZING I love her. did u know she makes her own ring gear and learnt to speak English pretty much from scratch when she joined AEW a year ago and is now cutting full promos in English? also her facial acting? 😘👌👌👌👌
Sonny Kiss is phenomenal I hope they're on Dynamite more bc not only is she a phenomenal character in their own right but when she started tagging with Joey Janela their in-ring chemistry actually made me LIKE Janela for the first time. also it warms my heart that JR, despite being kind of an old fogey, is regularly correcting other commentators on their pronoun use and vocally acknowledging that Sonny is nonbinary.
honestly JR does just warm my heart in general like he visibly struggled early on with getting out of the 2000s mindset on Female Wrestlers Are Sexy Divas and he accidentally misgendered Nyla Rose one time but he's been really open to criticism and often gone to bat for the trans and queer members of the roster. he seems like a nice guy and I'm glad he's here, which I didn't think I'd be saying a year ago yk?
I know I already said this but Chris Jericho is a phenomenon. he just makes everything FUCKING FUN every story he tells is wild and hilarious. The Inner Circle gives me life (on this blog we stan Ortiz) and his beef with Orange Cassidy was pure gold.
Also Matt Hardy is here!!!! I love Matt Hardy, I think his Ultimate Deletion match with Bray Wyatt was what made me realise how fun wrestling can be and he always brings the creativity. He's been through a lot of shit in his life, I'm really happy that he's able to work with a promotion that gives him room to be as hogwild as he wants because Matt Hardy's great strength is being absolutely off-the-chain weird. I love him.
Speaking of Matt Hardy and the Inner Circle have you seen the Stadium Stampede from this summer? honestly worth buying the whole PPV just for that it's wild choice after wild choice for 45 minutes it might be the best wrestling match ever. idk if I like it better when Matt Jackson Northern Lights suplexes Sammy Guevara the entire length of a football field, when Matt Hardy chases Sammy with a golf cart, the whole bit where Adam Page just goes off and gets drunk in a bar and has a brawl with Jake Hager, the bit where Proud & Powerful try to drown Matt Hardy but every time he goes underwater he comes up in a different costume and persona - holy shit it's just amazing it's everything I love about wrestling
Moving away from AEW, the best wrestling storyline I've ever seen is Progress' story with Cara Noir and Ilya Dragonov. They're both phenomenal wrestlers but also the raw power and emotional weight of the story? it's simple but it's heartachingly beautiful I was lucky enough to be in the audience for the second of 3 matches in the story and I was nearly in tears it's so theatrical and balletic???? Check it out if you can it's in Progress' video archives (those are all pay-to-watch though. I think they're also on Amazon Prime for American viewers?)
Cara Noir is probably my favourite wrestler, although Nyla Rose, Charlotte Flair, Chris Jericho, Luchasaurus and Adam Page are all up there. He's just the most phenomenal physical performer and he really gets how much theatre is in wrestling, his facial acting is impeccable and he's not afraid to take hard bumps and really sell. also he just seems like a very sound person out of character (touch wood), he's very principled and takes his work and the wellbeing of his colleagues really seriously which is what you want in a wrestler

Best World Cup song to ever exist ❤️🇿🇦⚽️
I remember 2010 like it was yesterday ✨ the whole of South Africa was such a vibe, everyone was so happy and had so much joy in them❤️
As a 10 year old who absolutely loved football, it was a dream come true❤️ to see those players that I absolutely ADORED and loved watching is something I’ll never forget 💕 Players like Gerrard, Xabi Alonso, Messi, David Villa and Kaka ❤️And the fact that they were in MY country, in the same place I was😭😭 going from watching them on a screen to being in the same stadium and a few metres away from them ✨✨❤️
I will never get tired of seeing THAT Tshabalala goal and hearing THAT iconic Peter Drury commentary 💕

Hmm-Atsuya, Nosaka and Haizaki! OwO
The others are under the cut! (Disclaimer: I still haven’t watched much of Ares or Orion so my knowledge of Nosaka and Haizaki is…. very limited)Fubuki Atsuya How I feel about him: Ooooohhhhhh look at the big bad wolf and his fangy fangs he’s so cute and even though he can kill a fully grown bear I love him and will protect this gay (or bi, depending on universe)disaster until my last breath. He is so protective it’s adorable and the fact he falls a bit flat in his incarnations is so disappointing, but then again all of Orion feels pretty flat so it doesn’t really surprise me. STILL it would be nice to see more than loud impulsive crazy boy. Romantic ships w/ him: *cough*yoru*cough**cough* seriously with canon characters though? probably Someoka if it’s OG and Nae if it’s Ares/Orion. He and Someoka/Nae bounce of each other in a similar way to Gouenji and Shirou, and it makes for cute relationships that either have Atsuya being kept in check but supported, or leave him so floundered and confused and in love that it’s adorable!! Non-romantic ships w/ him: Atsuya & Shirou, Atsuya & Hakuren, Atsuya & Nae, Atsuya & Someoka, Atsuya & Life, Atsuya & Hiroto, Atsuya & Mitsuru, Atsuya & Hyouga, Atsuya & Gouenji Unpopular Opinion of character: You know I’m sure there’s something more in depth to his character yet still slightly silly but I honestly can’t think of anything right now xD Right now all my brain can think of is that he can actually be super serious when needed and he’s just being wild/crazy because… well, idk he’s hotheaded and maybe that’s what used to be expected of him by their peers as a way to differentiate from Shirou. One thing from canon: I would have loved to see more of him in OG! More specifically, the Atsuya that wasn’t trying to take over. See him slip out in small rings of gold around Shirou’s eyes when he did something particularly “atsuya”, see them try to figure out the whole… together thing. I get why they simplified it to spirits and “oh hey they’re together now no more struggle yay!” but. still. would’ve been nice. And idk much about Ares/Orion but I would have loved to see him being casual with Hakuren. Do they get along outside of matches? Or do the others try to stay away from Atsuya as often as possible because he’s just infuriating to them? These are things I would have loved to see!
Nosaka Yuuma How I feel about him: An absolute dork. An emperor? More like an adorably awkward prince still trying to have fun after being trained to be something older than he is. I barely know him but I know I love what he brings to the table and he seems like an awesome yet slightly infuriating character. Romantic ships: I ship him with Ichihoshi. Hands down, that’s the only romantic pairing I have for him. Whether it’s Hikaru and/or Mitsuru in canon format is still up for debate, but it’s mostly Hikaru right now because that’s what we’ve seen. To me, Nosaka and Ichihoshi have the potential to be Ares/Orion’s GouFubu. They just… have that chemistry there, even if it’s hard to see due to Orion’s stale writing. Non-romantic ships: Nosaka & Nishikage, Nosaka & Anna. See, I can see Nishikage having a crush on Nosaka, but I just… idk I can’t see them together romantically? Nosaka has never seemed to see Nishikage like that and Nishikage’s crush seems to have taken turns into the “too far” lane and I just don’t think it’d be good/ healthy for them to be together romantically. But best friends? Heck yeah! They’d rule in that department. Nosaka and Anna are in a similar boat, but more on the fact that them being pushed towards romance just felt kinda forced and like neither character really wanted it. So I love them way more as friends! Unpopular Opinion: From what I’ve seen, everyone pictures Nosaka as this cold, kinda hard but slightly dorky, emperor persona. But to me? He’s not ready to be an emperor. Instead he’s been forced into the role and has to act like it, and that can lead to many wrong decisions in his attempts to be what people expect of him. He just feels… sad, to me. I just see him as more of a prince or something, instead of an emperor. IDK if this is necessarily an unpopular opinion or not, but those are my thoughts. One thing in canon: If they’ve already done this my bad but I’d love to see Nosaka with his walls down. Maybe late at night, unable to sleep? Just… Nosaka off the field. Without having to be an emperor. That’d be lovely.Haizaki Ryouhei How I feel: uhhhhhhh misunderstood “bad boy” with a soft heart but was hurt in the past so now he has walls higher than the football stadiums they play in. I looked at some of his wiki page and in the few episodes I saw him in I thought he was quiet the interesting character but it feels a lot like the other “bad boy” characters they show in the series. Full feelings are still TBD but right now I think he’s neat and I like him. Romantic ships: N/A, I haven’t actually watched enough of the show (or paid enough attention to him) to determine how I feel about him and any specific characters. Non-romantic ships: Haizaki & Inakuni Raimon, Haizaki & Inazuma Japan, Haizaki & Hiroto (Hiroto dropping him still makes me die of laughter, the essence of their relationship in one interaction right there) Unpopular opinion: idk why but the limited posts i’ve seen with him have always given me this vibe of Haizaki being a bit of a villain. So I guess in that regard my unpopular opinion is that he’s not bad, he’s just… sad. and scared of his friends getting hurt in a similar way to Akane. So he acts out, tries to do things himself to avoid getting close, and… idk. I feel like once his walls got knocked down he should have been eased off the bad boy vibe. Sure, he’s a bit of a shark boy, but even sharks aren’t meaning to be bad– they were just given a bad representation. One thing in canon: I have no clue xD again, haven’t seen enough to give a better/ more accurate answer. I guess give him a little more presence? I think I genuinely forgot he appeared in some of the episodes I watched, and, well, isn’t he supposed to be a main character?

Top ten weird moments of the Premier League season so far
Two games in and this season already feels like it’s got something about it. It will be special, we know it. West Ham are on for 114 points. Michail Antonio celebrating with a cardboard cutout of himself Especially as he appears to have brought it along himself for the occasion. He planned it. Fair play. It’s like that bit in The Office Christmas Special where the punters at the club have brought pre-soiled undies to lob at David Brent. You have to admire that level of forethought and commitment to a bit, no matter how perplexing. Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno wearing the outfield away kit Just… why? There are undoubtedly far greater things to get worked up about with Arsenal right now, but this has confused and infuriated us. Tottenham’s away kit We adore it, but there’s no point pretending it is anything other than completely insane. That’s why we love it really. And its absurdity is even more profound when given its Premier League debut against the understated, dignified elegance of Wolves’ old gold. And who knows, that specific Harry Kane No. 10 shirt could become a real collector’s item for more than just the dazzling magnificence of the clothing itself. Paul Pogba exceeding his total 2020/21 assist tally in the first game That’s pretty mad, really, isn’t it? Pogba went full Harry Kane with his four assists against Leeds having managed just three in the entirety of the previous season. Even Pogba’s biggest fans can’t have expected that, although Graeme Souness still not being impressed was far more predictable. West Ham being the best team in the country Feels all kinds of wrong, but you can’t argue with numbers. The Hammers are currently trending towards a 114-point season with 152 goals scored. There is quite literally no reason why they should fall short of this, and you have to say it would make them pretty tough to beat. Manchester City’s ongoing inability to find their arsehole with both hands at WHL2.0 Manchester City have been the best team in the country for the last four years apart from that bit when it was Liverpool. Spurs have not been in any way the best team in the country for the last four years. And yet City have now made four trips to Spurs’ new stadium and lost every single one of them without even scoring a goal. Not even a concerted summer campaign to unsettle Spurs’ best player ahead of this season’s opening game could turn things round, City foolishly targeting Harry Kane when everyone knows it’s Heung-min Son who routinely pulls City’s fancy pants down in this fixture. Arsenal being in round two of the Carabao Arsenal’s last season without European football was 1995/96. Teams in Europe have received a bye to the third round of the League Cup since 1996/97. Arsenal in round two of the Carabao is therefore not something that has happened for quite some time. Well they’ve never been in round two of the Carabao because it wasn’t called the Carabao last time they had to bother – an 8-0 aggregate win over Hartlepool in 1995 – but you know what we mean. Disappointingly, Arsenal have been drawn away at West Brom, a tie which has huge Carabao round three vibes and thus spoils the novelty aesthetic a touch. Fans It’s genuinely caught us by surprise even though it shouldn’t have. We’d got so used to clinical, sanitised (in every way) pandemicball that we’d convinced ourselves we didn’t really miss the fans any more. Totally sold ourselves the lie that we didn’t even notice their absence. As a result, their return has been intoxicating. Whether it’s whole banks of furious Gunners aiming all manner of gestures at Reece James or simply sliding into despair at the futility of it all, or Spurs fans singing pointedly about Japhet Tanganga being one of their own or just the simple pleasure of the “Wahay!” that follows an away player doing something rubbish it has all felt absurdly, giddily heightened.
Brighton scoring goals It’s a shame in many ways that xG heroes Brighton have slightly sullied the purity of their football with something as vulgar and gauche as scoring actual goals but we must grudgingly conclude that early results indicate it might be the way to go. Having scored about three goals from an xG of 727 last season (subs please check), their first two games of the new campaign have brought four goals from an xG of 3.07. Southampton taking the lead against Manchester United and not losing This absolutely blew our mind. The team that always loses after taking the lead against the team that always wins after falling behind. It was all going to plan when Southampton took a thoroughly undeserved lead and Mason Greenwood poked home an equaliser. We sat back and waited for the inevitable winning goal and yet, somehow – and boffins will scratch their heads over this for decades to come – the game ended with the score still 1-1. It’s a miracle the earth is still spinning on its axis, frankly. Read the full article

Any chances of a Will, first day of high school, getting in the building with the party and meeting this kid who's on his second year and has a edgy badboy vibe going on (but still looking cool) and yeah, feelings are a thing? And they lowkey (or highkey, idc) flirting in front of everyone with Mike and Lucas being over protective and hating the older boy?
One hundred and thirty one. One-Three-One. The number was simple enough; Will’s locker shouldn’t have been the hardest part of his first day. Will scanned the long hallway extending from the foyer, all the gray lockers identical to the ones surrounding them. He tried to find familiar faces, but he was on his own. Will had a last name with a “B” and somehow was already in the hundreds. Dustin and Lucas were in completely different hallways and Mike was nearly on the other end of the building.
Will found one hundred and twenty-nine, the next odd number being his own locker– at least he thought so. He had no way to check with the boy leaning up against his locker. He was talking to the girl at one hundred and thirty-three, Will shrinking as they both laughed warmly and loudly.
“Excuse me, you’re on my locker.” Will tapped the boy’s shoulder lightly. Will stepped back as he turned, the boy having to look down at Will’s short frame.
“Oh, sorry, sweetness.” He said, straightening his posture. He ran a hand through his hair, the long black strands carding through his fingers. Will pretended to be looking somewhere other than his face– his dark eyes, pink lips, scattered freckles– and focused on the cigarette perched behind his ear. The boy’s hand drug through his hair and found the cigarette, readjusting it with thin fingers. It was perfectly fine where it was, but the boy’s hands seemed to enjoy being in Will’s line of sight.
“I–I’m Will.” The words hadn’t meant to slip out. What did it mean to introduce himself to this boy? The boy didn’t care. Will was a nervous freshman disturbing his conversation.
“Hi, Will. I’m Travis.” He grinned at Will, his smile lopsided but sincere. His voice was deeper than Will’s, obviously older (and intimidatingly taller) than Will. “It’s an absolute pleasure.”
Will laughed nervously, trying to echo Travis and his friend. He failed and instead sounded like he was a moment from crying– which wasn’t entirely false. He had no idea where Mike’s locker was or where Lucas was and he was still just trying to get into his locker. He was going to be late to his first class of his first day of high school. They’d probably laugh at him all the way home.
“You’re still on my locker…” Will said quietly, pointing to his destination still hidden behind Travis’s back.
“What’s the password.” He asked, still smiling at Will. The girl at one-thirty-three seemed to laugh at Travis’s question before closing her own locker and walking away. Travis stayed where he was, looking at Will with lifted eyebrows.
“I don’t know.” Will muttered, fidgeting with his backpack straps. He waited for Travis to laugh at him, to swing an arm out and push him to the ground. He was smiling at Will and typically that didn’t mean anything good unless it was coming from his friends. “Please?”
“I’m sorry. The answer is, ‘no, I’m not doing anything on Friday night’.” Travis said.
“I’m not doing anything on Friday night?” Will repeated, confused by the sentence. Travis stepped aside in a smooth motion, waving his arm out to displaying the locker.
“Great, neither am I. Might I request an outing to a football game?” He stayed next to Will, leaning against the girl’s locker and leaning towards Will.
“What?” Will asked. He was about to look upset, disgusted with the boy’s new teasing tactic, but was shocked to see lifted eyebrows and another warm smile on his lips. “Me?” Will had heard about this before. He had heard about flirting in distance and in practice, but never had it happened to him.
“Yes, you, Will.” He laughed and Will thought his blushing would turn the joke to be on him, but Travis seemed to take Will’s awkwardness in stride. He placed a hand on Will’s shoulder, quickly and delicately, saying quietly to him, “It’s okay. I’m like you too.”
“Like me?” Will swallowed, pointing a delicate finger at himself.
“Yeah. Don’t worry. I’m not pulling your leg, William.” He bowed his head at Will slowly. Will could feel his heart fluttering in his chest and his lungs tightening as he attempted to laugh again. “There is more than one of us in Hawkins.” He was flirting. He was definitely flirting with Will. Oh shit. He hadn’t studied for this over break.
“Hey, Will! There you are!” Mike called down the hallway, yanking Will’s attention from the boy’s knowing smile. “It’s like a ten minute walk from my locker. I almost got lost.”
“Sorry.” Will said offhandedly, not sure what to say to blend the two conversation together. He was apologizing to Mike for his placement in the alphabet and apologizing to Travis for being as a green a freshman as they came.
“Why are you apologizing?” Mike asked, walking up and placing his arm around Will’s shoulders. “Not your fault.” Will looked at Mike’s hand hanging over his shoulder, behind it Will could see Travis’s grin, now admiring Mike with its glow.
“How do we know them, Will?” He asked with a laugh. “A boyfriend?”
“No.” Will said, shaking his head– and trying not to hit Mike’s as it whipped towards Travis. “This is my best friend, Mike. Mike, this is Travis.”
“Hi.” Travis winked and outstretched a hand to Mike.
“Hi.” Mike said slowly, taking Travis’s hand. “Will, do you know him?”
“We met a minute ago.” Will answered, piling books in his locker. He still had somewhere to be. “Asked me to a football game.”
“What?” Mike asked, leaning forward to try and catch Will’s expression as he moved his things around. “Football game? You hate football.”
“You do?” Travis said, still listening. “Then, gosh Will, we’ll do something else.”
“It’s fine.” Will said, smiling at Travis. He turned back to his locker and met Mike’s eyes, clenching his jaw and trying to get him to drop the subject. Baseball with Lonnie was going to be much different than a possible half-way date with a boy. Will wasn’t even sure the boy would remember him by Friday. He was probably just blowing smoke, but it felt nice to be flattered.
“Are you sure?” Mike was almost trying to protect Will from his own intentions.
“Really, I think it will be fun! Jonathan will probably be there–”
“Wait, you’re Byers, right?” Travis cut in, suddenly surprised. “Jonathan’s kid brother.”
“He prefers to go by Will.” Mike sneered, crossing his arms.
“Mike.” Will hissed, slapping his arm. “Yeah, that’s me. Why.”
“I read about you in the papers.” He said, pointing at Will as his expression relaxed with realization. “That’s why you look so familiar.”
“Okay, that’s enough.” Mike cut in, although Travis hadn’t admitted how he knew Will. It didn’t take a genius though; Zombie Boy was pretty famous across the entire city. “Oh hey, look! Lucas!” Mike waved their friend over with a frantic hand and a tense face. Travis cocked his head as he looked at him, laughing shortly through his nose as Mike pulled Lucas over by the collar of his shirt. “This is Lucas. Will’s other friend.”
“I can have more than one.” Will said, looking at Mike with furrowed eyebrows. “Besides, I just met Travis.” He hissed, widening his eyes at Mike, trying to communicate without words. Lucas looked between them with confusion.
“Who’s Travis?”
“Me.” He lifted a hand before extending it to Lucas. “I’m still filling out the application, but I’m trying to be Will’s friend.”
“He’s taking Will to a football game.” Mike said, intensifying his tone for a reason Will wasn’t even sure he understood.
“Will hates sports.” Lucas said to Mike. “You hate sports.”
“Then I’ll take you somewhere else, Will.” Travis continued to ignore the complaints of Will’s friends and spoke only to Will to discuss the issue. He was letting Will deny the rejection cleanly and without any shame or awkwardness. “I mean, I’m probably not into the same stuff as you, but we can figure something out.”
“What’s that mean?” Lucas asked, leaning back to take in Travis. He noted the boy’s ripped leather jacket and cigarette with a click of the tongue.
“Science.” Travis said, finally acknowledging them. “Will’s always in the papers for science stuff. Jonathan is always developing pictures from science fairs too. My friend, the locker next to you, uses the darkroom all the time.”
“That’s how you know me?” Will asked, turning his whole body away from Mike and Lucas. Travis actually somehow meant to run into Will– or if not was very pleased by their crossing paths. Will thought he was being disingenuous and looking to smear Zombie Boy’s new legacy across the pavement behind the football stadium, maybe chipping a tooth too.
“Yeah. How else would I?” He laughed, looking at Will curiously. “You in the papers much, William? Front pagin’ your first day of high school?”
“This kinda counts.” Will muttered, feeling the blush spread over his cheeks as Travis grinned, winking at Will.
“No one calls him William.” Lucas interrupted. “It’s Will.”
“Guys!” Will cried. “Shut up and let’s get to class.”
“Gladly. Let’s go.” Mike said, grabbing Will’s arm to begin pulling him away from Travis.
“Sorry.” Will said quietly to Travis, who was ripping a corner page of Will’s notebook off. “See you around.” He ignored Will’s goodbye and pulled a pen from his pocket and scribbled on it. Will could only hold his ground against Mike’s grip for so long. He was hoping for something other than a complete shutout. “Bye-”
Travis reached out to Will, the paper in his fingertips. “Here. Call after six.” He winked again.
“Great. Thanks.” Mike took the paper before dragging Will down the hallway, twisting him around so he faced away from Travis. “Ugh that guy was so annoying.”
“He was not.” Will insisted. “He was nice to me.”
“Were we talking to the same guy?” Lucas laughed, waving his arms out. “That guy was a dick!”
“He said like, twenty words total to us.” Will said, tugging his arm out of Mike’s grip. “He was sweet.” And cute.
“Nope. Twenty words too many. I don’t trust him.”
“And why’s that?” Will asked.
“He asked you to a football game.” Lucas cried. “That’s like, a date.”
“I am accepting dates from men.” Will said flatly. “That’s not rude.”
“But he doesn’t know you!” Mike argued. “Why would he ask!”
“Because I’m nice?” Will wasn’t sure the exact criteria to get a date, but Will was the last one of the group to get one. There wasn’t something wrong with him, was there?
“NO!” Mike cried. “He’s up to something.”
“I really think you guys are being ridiculous.”
“You’ll thank us later.” Lucas said, shoving Will forward and into their history class. “Disaster avoided.”
Will huffed and shouldered the boys’ grips off of his shoulders. Will didn’t want to believe that his friends were right; it was a strong possibility, but he liked living with the thought that he had made a friend within moments of walking in the door of high school. That he had met someone who knew him from his favorite hobbies, not from an article and horrible nickname that ruined his previous year of schooling. Travis seemed to be genuine and kind, showing the kind of instant pull that Will had seen with Eleven and Mike, with Lucas and Max. It seemed fair to Will; he was allowed to have crushes too.
Will sat down in the front row, Mike taking the seat to his left and Lucas to his right. They sandwiched him, still muttering about how lucky he was that they were there to save him. Will rolled his eyes and opened his notebook, the first page torn and its missing piece still gripped in Mike’s hand. He’d have no luck getting it back unless he pried Mike’s fingers open. Will ran his fingers over the torn paper, wishing he had seen some of the numbers before Mike intervened.
“Excuse me, boys.” Will’s head shot up, his hands covering the missing corner, as if the numbers were still there. Will gulped down his sheepish smile and creeping blush. “Is that seat behind William taken?”
“N–No.” Will said, turning to wave a hand out. “It’s all yours.”
“Excellent.” Travis smiled, slipping between them and sitting in the desk behind Will. “I’ve got the perfect seat.”
On either side of Will, he could hear grumbling, groaning, and the ever so subtle sound of paper crumpling in Mike’s hand. He could feel the heat of their glares passing him and landing on Travis– although the heat might have just been from the flush crawling up his face. His friends were boiling as Travis resting his feet on the back of Will’s chair, hand touching Will’s shoulder as he asked if it bothered him. The hand retracted, dragging over Will’s shirt and past his collar as it rested back on his desk. Travis was silent as Mike and Lucas began leaning back into Will.
“What a creep!” Mike insisted. “Stop letting him flirt with you!” Will rolled his eyes at the idea and reached back to scratch his neck. Lucas agreed with Mike, Will ignored them both, trying to flatten his shirt tag.
“Honestly, Will. From what I’ve heard everyone say about high school, you can’t trust anyone the first week.” Lucas said sternly. “I mean, remember what Mr. Clarke told us happened to him?” Will didn’t, but he nodded his head to silence them.
He grabbed at his shirt tag, the usually stiff material folding in his fingers with ease. It crumpled, like paper. Will hid Travis’s note tightly in his hand, sliding it down to his lap without the other boys noticing. Mike repeated that they didn’t know him, therefore could not trust him. Will knew Mike was right, at least in some way, but after six that night, Will would know Travis a little bit more. He’d call him and they’d talk and laugh and Will would hide in his kitchen with the phone so no one heard him talking to a new boy on the phone and he’d feel normal. He’d have a crush and maybe go on a weird first date. He’d learn to flirt. He’d let high school change him; he always wanted to like football anyway.

Best Places in Nac to Study Outside!
LUMBERJACKS,
I know COVID has ruined a lot of normal college activities this Fall, but one thing we still can do is be outside. As a two-time SFASU alum, I know how important it is to get some quality study hours in. If you are absolutely over being stuck inside your room or if the library is just TOO loud (which I know it can be even on the “quiet” floor), why not give studying outside a chance especially with cooler weather on its way within a month or so!
With that in mind, I decided to brainstorm the best places & hidden gems around Nacogdoches for students to breathe some fresh, clean air and study outside. I also asked some fellow SFA alums on twitter their favorite locations to add to this list.
FYI: This list is in no particular order and I also added a selection of places that have outdoor seating BUT may not be open to outside patrons or people yet due to COVID but hopefully they will be soon. *fingers crossed*
*DEEP BREATH*...HERE WE GO:
Picnic Tables at Fredonia Brewery (NOT A BEER GARDEN)
At the moment, Fredonia Brewery isn’t fully open to the public (THANKS COVID AND GOVERNOR ABBOTT) but they put picnic tables behind the brew house in the NOT A BEER GARDEN. Usually on the weekends they have a food truck parked out there too! So you can do some reading, drink a can or growler or two and eat some yummy food. When they re-open eventually to the public, even sitting in the Beer Garden during the day is very relaxing and easy to get some reading done. I have done this many times!
Brendyn’s BBQ (East Main St.)
Brendyn’s has, first of all, some of the best BBQ in East Texas. But he also has covered picnic tables off to the side of his building. You can grab a stuffed baked potato or the Gare Bear with a Peach Coke and head outside to get some good quality reading done. BONUS: Fredonia Brewery is literally a block away in walking distance. You can get some drinks and good food right next to each other. WIN-WIN!
University Coffee (North St.)
I haven’t personally been to University Coffee myself BUT a few recent alums and grad students on my Twitter said here is a great spot. There are some tables outside in the front you can sit at and enjoy some caffeine with a breeze.
Java Jacks (North St.)
This is one of the best places in Nac to sit outside and study but due to COVID the inside and upstairs porch/patio is closed. I still recommend running through the drive-thru and getting a coffee to sip on while studying. I LOVE the Snickers or Nutty Irishman. When they do eventually re-open, GET THERE EARLY. It fills up quick. It is that popular.
Picnic/Covered Tables @ Lake Nac (Lake Nacogdoches)
There are two parks, East and West, at Lake Nac with boat ramps and swimming areas. But there are also tables to sit at. If you decide to go out there, I would bring some sunscreen just in case and bug spray BUT you will be happy with this choice especially if the sun is out and the weather is nice. Sitting by the water is one of my favorite things. Super chill. Hell if you have a rod & some bait, bring that too and enjoy some fishing off the dock. (Don’t forget your fishing license too!) Directions: Take Main St. West to Durst St. then take Durst St. literally all the way to the Lake & you will see signs for the different parks. Or click below here for more info: https://tpwd.texas.gov/fishboat/fish/recreational/lakes/nacogdoches/access.phtml
Literally anywhere in the Arboretum (On Campus)
Probably one of the most relaxing and serene options on this list. Also one of the most popular with both alumni and current students! Bring water and bug spray for sure. There are picnic tables and little areas to sit or bring your own lawn chair/hammock if you want and relax among the trees.
1st City Cafe/Nine Flags Bar Outside Seating (Fredonia Hotel)
Talk about chill vibes. The hotel restaurant outside seating area, especially during the day and lunch hours, might be the ‘coolest’ place to study in town. Sit near the pool, sip on some water (or my personal favorite Apple Pie Moonshine), eat some pork rinds with queso and dive right into the studying. It gets busier at night so that might not be the best time to go.
Pecan Park (Starr St.)
Pretty simple here, I am sure most of you have been or driven by the park. And you can see there are plenty of covered picnic tables and even if you wanted to bring a blanket and relax on the grass there is plenty of grass to social distance.
BottleCap Alley (North St)
As one of the newer restaurants in town, not many people realize it is even there OR the fact that they have outside seating both near their bar AND out back! Lots of options here and they have decent food and good drinks to aid you in the study session.
Grass Hills at the Football Stadium (On Campus)
Pretty simple here as well. Hard to miss this on campus. This was another favorites of mine especially in the Fall. Bring your books, blanket & relax on the grass, there is plenty of grass to social distance. [This is contingent on the facility being open to students during COVID. It is possible it is not at the moment. I would check before committing your time to go there.]
Intramural Fields (On Campus)
Another easy one. There are bunch of bleachers or grass to relax on and study. Now if they are playing Intramural sports, that might be too distracting unless the sounds of flag football and softball in the background makes it easier for you to concentrate.
Starbucks Coffee Shop (North St.)
A obvious choice is to sit outside at Starbucks but a lot if people already know about this one so you may have to fight for a table.
Starbucks Patio (On Campus/Student Center)
Another obvious choice is to sit outside on the patio at Starbucks in the Student Center but a lot if people already know about this one so you may have to fight for a table.
Top Floor STEM Building Observation Terrace Deck (On Campus)
Newer option on campus and not sure how many people know there is a observation deck on the top floor of the STEM building. Quiet most likely if you are alone and if you are out there until night time, you might be able to see some stars with the telescopes.
Chipotle (North St.)
Within walking distance from SFA you can grab a Chipotle bowl or burrito and sit outside (IF AVAILABLE DUE TO COVID) to get some good study hours in.
Flashbacks (Wettermark St.)
Another walk-able option yet still not the most optimal choice is heading over to Flashbacks to sit out back at the tables. Definitely don’t go to study at night since most nights it is pretty packed with people indulging in adult beverages. I would go during the day for lunch if possible.
Fuzzy’s Taco Shop (North St.)
They have some outside seating BUT I mean it’s Fuzzy’s...You can expect loud crowds and plenty of distractions. If you are lucky enough though to get there when there is literally no one, there are plenty of places outside to sit and study.
I wish some of these places were open 100% or the fact that it isn’t even a second thought to go sit inside places. Don’t get me wrong, you totally can---there are plenty of coffee shops and restaurants you can enjoy some WiFi and quiet study vibes like Nine Flags Coffee Roaster or Thumper’s, both on North St. but not all are open to 100% capacity or have very strict social guidelines.
I hope this list helps some of you students out. As a college professor and former student, I understand the struggle it can be finding a good place to study and get your mind right to focus. I struggled with it to and had to move around across campus multiple times. Good Luck and don’t worry the cooler weather is coming to make outside studying much more enjoyable!

Where to live in Atlanta in 2020
Your go-to guide for picking the best neighborhood in the ATL right now
What makes for a best Atlanta neighborhood? That’s subjective in a thousand different ways, but what’s indisputable is that Atlantans of all stripes need to be smart about locational choices or risk getting passed by in a city on the move.
What’s paramount in your buying or renting decision? Access to Atlanta transit? Walkability to a nice cozy tavern—or seven of them? Room for guests to park? Space for the in-laws? A flowery yard? Absolutely no yardwork whatsoever? A social scene that never quits? Or a home away from it all, where you can enjoy quiet summer nights in the yard, symphonic with the sound of cicadas?
Highlighted below are seven eclectic options picked from more than 240 neighborhoods officially recognized by the city of Atlanta, diverse in geography, architecture types, general price points, and demographics. But each neighborhood below offers the culture and convenience that only living intown provides, and their appeal is growing by the minute— you’ll find new housing stock, surging restaurant scenes, and freshly minted sections of the Beltline.
Whether for an empty-nester, first-time buyer, transplant from afar, or longtime renter who likes it that way, these neighborhoods offer an opportune place—one that’s quintessentially Atlanta—for thriving in 2020.
Summerhill
The draw: Diverse; steeped in local history; lower cost of living than its eastside counterparts
Similar neighborhoods: Peoplestown; Old Fourth Ward (circa 2006)
Types of homes: Everything from adorable shotguns to hulking contemporaries
Within a football’s toss of what’s become Georgia State Stadium, Summerhill is blowing up like few other places in Atlanta right now—with all the gentrification challenges inherent in such transformative development. Most notably, the depressing dead zone that was the storefront carcasses of Georgia Avenue—which had housed a diverse slate of grocers, restaurants, and spaces for butchers and shoe shops in the early 20th century—is being restored to vibrancy with the likes of Wood’s Chapel BBQ, Junior’s Pizza, and Halfway Crooks Beer, among others. By all indications, that’s just the beginning.
Within a few blocks, nearly 1,000 new multifamily residences are in the pipeline or have recently opened near the repurposed Major League Baseball stadium and its barren lots. Elsewhere, just north of the stadium, Aloft is planning to build its first hotel south of Interstate 20, and Georgia State is moving forward with an $85 million convocation center where the school’s basketball team would play. But only a fraction of the new housing has been earmarked as “affordable,” as determined by the earnings of residents in the area, in a district that’s been considered low-income for generations.
Renovated standalone homes costing north of a half-million dollars aren’t uncommon, while new construction routinely aims for higher prices. A national builder is erecting nearly 300 apartments near the neighborhood’s northern border, I-20, with each of them deemed “luxury.” On the transportation front, Atlanta’s first rapid bus transit project is planned for a three-mile circuit that would travel from downtown, through Summerhill, to the Beltline’s Southside Trail. Summerhill stands to be a substantially different place in coming years, for better or worse.
Buckhead Village
The draw: Car-free oasis with ritzy shops and restaurants
Similar neighborhoods: Midtown’s core
Types of homes: A mecca of high-end, sophisticated new condos and apartments
This is the trendy, walkable, hip, and some would argue pretentious section of Atlanta’s most monied neighborhood, located near the heavily commercial area around Peachtree Road’s split with Roswell Road. New (not cheap) housing options and restaurants have multiplied in recent years, but relatively affordable deals can still be found (though rarely at Jimmy Choo).
One of several new Buckhead Village apartment high-rises, for goodness’s sake, is actually called “Gentry,” and at the posh, glassy edifice that is Hanover Buckhead Village, studios of barely more than 600 square feet will set you back $1,837 monthly—or more. Still, that’d be peanuts compared to most mortgage notes at The Charles, a deluxe condo building at the coveted crossroads of Peachtree and East Paces Ferry roads. The Village is Exhibit A that Buckhead exclusivity, like enhanced walkability, doesn’t come cheap—unless you’re willing to look deeper and compromise a little.
So why pay the steep prices? Where else in Atlanta can you browse at Hermès, nosh at a white-tablecloth destination like Le Bilboquet, and catch a show at a landmark venue like Buckhead Theatre within a few blocks and without a car? And it’s not all bad; smaller condos that enjoy the same geographic benefits can routinely be found for less than $250,000.
Beyond the shopping and swanky flats, Charlie Loudermilk Park is a green respite amid the village’s commercial buzz. (Trivia: It was once the site of Henry Irby’s General Store, the man widely regarded as Buckhead’s founder.) And ATL newcomers might be surprised to learn that, where the village’s upscale outdoor shopping district stands, an estimated 100 bars and restaurants once thumped deep into the night, until general rowdiness and one very high-profile crime helped the city accelerate their demise.
Westview
The draw: Neighbors old and new who take pride in having so much pride
Similar neighborhoods: Adair Park; West End
Types of homes: Quintessential Atlanta bungalow or quaint cottages with Tudor flair
With smokin’-hot real estate for the past several years (thanks, Beltline buzz), this historic, diverse, and formerly downtrodden (thanks, Great Recession) neighborhood along the Westside Trail has shown anecdotal signs of cooling off recently, although bidding wars for choice properties are still a thing. Buyer incentives (closing costs paid, etc.) that seemed unthinkable not long ago have returned. Locals have also recently argued that the Westside Trail hasn’t yet lived up to its hype as an accelerant for outside investment—while others are grateful it hasn’t yet been the gentrifying tool for displacement many had feared. But it’s still early.
While Westview home sales in the $400,000s are commonplace these days, cheaper renovations with charm to knock your socks off are still out there for significantly less. The City of Atlanta counts about 1,100 single-family homes in the neighborhood, with a strong majority of them now classified as being in “good” condition. And Westview remains that increasingly rare Atlanta neighborhood where buyers hankering to live in their own fixer-upper might not be bullied out by deep-pocketed investors and moneybag flippers.
Throw in the 600-acre, gorgeous Westview Cemetery (the Southeast’s largest), access to the Beltline’s Westside Trail, and the One Night Stand (burger) at Slutty Vegan, and you might never leave.
East Atlanta
The draw: Great nightlife; affordable among its more northerly eastside brethren
Similar neighborhoods: Reynoldstown; Edgewood
Types of homes: Flashy townhomes; modest brick ranches; a few grand Victorian stalwarts
Longtime locals talk wistfully of the days when the East Atlanta Village had more gritty soul, or when a Craftsman-style cottage could be scored for the price of a used Tesla. But the scrappy spirit of this nabe, immortalized by artists like Gucci Mane and Camila Cabello, lives on. Added bonus: Plans are percolating to rework an East Atlanta intersection so notorious and nonsensical—the cockeyed Moreland/Glenwood Avenue crossroads—it inspired a Hawaiian artist to spotlight it in a book.
Like its cousin to the north, Little Five Points, EAV retains an anything-goes vibe and numerous watering holes that can get pleasingly rowdy (Midway Pub) if the right game is on. That’s despite the ubiquity of new townhomes and single-family houses selling high into the $600,000s these days.
Still, a max budget of, say, $300,000 scores a perfectly livable little house within hoofing distance of the bars and eats. Renting a well-equipped newer studio here—just a short drive from downtown on Interstate 20—could save $500 or more monthly versus Midtown and Buckhead.
Knight Park/Howell Station
The draw: Knowing the names of everybody on your leafy little street
Similar neighborhoods: Home Park; East Atlanta
Types of homes: Traditionals from recent decades commingle with old, revived bungalows
A diminutive, charming oasis of vernacular architecture and close-knit neighbors among the industrial Westside landscape, Knight Park/Howell Station stands around the corner from the gorgeous new Proctor Creek Greenway and the initial phase of what's projected to be Atlanta’s largest green space, Westside Park at Bellwood Quarry.
Last year, a Beltline spur trail that’s set to serve the historic neighborhood launched pre-construction clearing efforts. Also announced: a 15-acre warehouse conversion into an office and retail hub. The Knight Park green space is considered the district’s communal heart, but the Goliath park project across the road stands to really put this place on the map.
Located just a stone’s throw west of Midtown, fewer than 300 houses comprise the full neighborhood—or less than half as many as wee Cabbagetown. The neighborhood also has roots in the railroad industry dating back to the 1890s, with a National Register of Historic Places designation coming a century after that. The housing stock is almost exclusively standalone residences, ranging from rehabbed cottages in the low $200,000s, to more ornate bungalows and Craftsman-style offerings from the aughts edging over the half-million-dollar mark.
Piedmont Heights
The draw: A feeling of being tucked away, in the middle of it all
Similar neighborhoods: Morningside-Lenox Park; Peachtree Hills
Types of homes: High-dollar new construction; handsome brick townhomes; garden-style condos
An icicle-shaped neighborhood bounded by Piedmont Avenue, Interstate 85, and the former railroad line that cuts through Piedmont Park, Piedmont Heights is under-appreciated. This tony neighborhood is a segue between trendy Midtown and the old/new money of Buckhead, with enviable proximity to Piedmont Park and all the scuzzy wonders of Cheshire Bridge Road. Its roster of attractions includes venerable Smith’s Olde Bar and Ford Fry’s Little Rey, plus a stock of truly lovely, smaller houses that can be attained in the ballpark of $500,000.
There is history aplenty; Atlanta’s second-oldest home—the Liddell House, a classic, clapboard-sided antebellum farmhouse with a porte cochère—is located on Montgomery Ferry Road. But for all its aspirational residences and marquee location, not every Atlantan could point out Piedmont Heights on a map, which boosts the cachet.
Bonus: Piedmont Heights is getting its own Beltline segment—a stretch of the Northeast Trail, behind the neighborhood’s Ansley Mall—that launched construction last fall. The result should be a combination of Beltline and interstate access second only to West End and Reynoldstown. And locals know not to miss Grindhouse Killer Burgers, which opened its “flagship” location here on Piedmont Avenue in 2011.
Underwood Hills
The draw: A happy medium between Midtown’s bustle and the spacious lots of Collier Hills
Similar neighborhoods: Loring Heights; Ormewood Park
Types of homes: Large, older condos and Colonials
The construction of I-75 couldn’t dampen the charm of this neighborhood of about 1,000 homes that occupies the middle ground between hip, postindustrial Blandtown and manicured Margaret Mitchell. Established in 1902, Underwood Hills’s earliest denizens were employees of the Seaboard Coastline Railroad, and that railroad tradition lives on, just to the west. Today, Underwood Hills isn’t shy about adopting the “Upper Westside” moniker coined by developers as a marketing tactic for the general area northwest of Atlantic Station. Less trendy is Underwood Hills Park, a tucked-away gem with tennis and basketball courts and more than enough equipment to keep the kiddos happy.
Large-scale ventures such as Selig Enterprises’s The Works—a planned 80-acre adaptive-reuse redo that’s landed a Scofflaw brewing facility and food hall from celebrity chef Andrew Zimmern—promise to boost the district’s appeal in the popular consciousness of Atlantans. Meanwhile, patrons of Hankook Taqueria and Atlanta Brewing Company may have previously visited Underwood Hills without knowing it.
Large, older, but well-kept condo complexes make Underwood Hills a go-to for first-time homebuying, with renovated options in the low $100,000s fairly common. (Just don’t expect much more than 700 square feet.) Meanwhile, a concentration of Colonial-style dwellings help the streets stand out aesthetically in bungalow-heavy Atlanta. Recent sales in the latter style show three-bedroom houses moving in the $400,000 to $500,000 range.

Though it is a New Year’s Six bowl game, it is tough not to feel as if the 2019 Orange Bowl has been a bit overlooked. Perhaps it is because the No. 9 Florida Gators enter as a 14.5-point favorite. Maybe it is due to the No. 24 Virginia Cavaliers being a fringe top 25 team that many believe was only ranked to give the ACC a “quality” team in its featured bowl game. Truthfully, it’s probably because it is taking place two days after the College Football Playoff semifinals and two days before the highly-anticipated New Year’s Day games. Regardless of the reason, Florida and Virginia have plenty on the line Monday night at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. In front of what should be a friendly crowd, the Gators (10-2) are looking to finish with 11 wins for the first time since 2012. In between, they have suffered a pair of four-win seasons and seen two coaching changes over the six years that followed. They have also begun a resurgence under head coach Dan Mullen. The Wahoos do not have the same championship-caliber football pedigree as their opponent but are looking to build one under fourth-year head coach Bronco Mendenhall, who has improved Virginia by 2+ wins in each of his prior three seasons. A 10th win in 2019 would continue that trend and set the stage for what could be a tremendous 2020. And that’s where these teams have their most significant similarity. Successful 2019s already seem to be in the rear-view mirror. Florida sees the Orange Bowl as an opportunity to prove their positive vibes justified. “Obviously, you always want to finish the season on a win and on a high note,” Mullen said. “… When you head into an offseason, you have the opportunity to get a win over a top-25 team … I think that helps catapult you into the next season on a positive note. We don’t get to play again until September. That’s a long time to sit around.” “I think a win is real important. The number one object is to win the game,” defensive coordinator Todd Grantham agreed. “… Number one, it allows us to get the 11th win of the season. It allows us to finish the season off the right way. But also it creates energy and excitement moving forward. … “After the Michigan win, there was a lot of confidence because of what we had done in that bowl game propelling us into the offseason. I think it sets up your offseason the right way. I think it creates energy moving forward. I think it gives a sense of pride in the sense you know you’ve accomplished something, and the ability to win 21 games over the past two years would be something I think is pretty good.” With their only losses to the No. 1 team in the nation (LSU) and the SEC East champions (No. 5 Georgia), the Gators have as good a resume as anyone in the nation not in the CFP. Florida also has the opportunity to finish inside the top 10 in consecutive seasons for the first time in a decade (2008-09). “We had two top-10 years, back to back, and next step is a championship. I feel like a championship is coming soon,” said senior linebacker David Reese III. “[It] just shows you how hard we worked just for one extra win [this year]. Next thing you know, if we get one extra win to next year, we’re contenders in the playoffs.” “Just knowing how much the program has been through the last two, three years, and just with coaching changes, adversity, being 4-7 to now, we’ve got a lot of guys that understand the program coming in,” said senior running back Lamical Perine. “Just knowing what Coach Mullen expects, having two 10-win seasons back to back, that’s a big statement. [There’s] more to come.” The next step for the Gators coming off consecutive New Year’s Six bowls and 20 or 21 wins in two seasons would indeed be the College Football Playoff. LSU this year became the third SEC program to find a spot in the four-team field over the six-year history of the event. Will Florida be the fourth in 2020? “I think it’s headed in the right direction,” said senior wide receiver Josh Hammond of the program as a whole. “You can see the national prominence that the Florida Gators have at the moment, back-to-back New Year’s Six bowls, 10-win season, getting top recruits in the recruiting game. It’s definitely headed in the right direction. I think it’ll be within the playoffs in the next couple years, and as long as they continue to work hard, I think they’ll be fine.” Redshirt senior WR Van Jefferson, who transferred in as one of Mullen’s key pickups ahead of the 2018 season, agrees with his position-mate. “I think it’s [trending] up. I think Coach Mullen came in and did a great job with the program,” he said. “It’s only going to get better. … [The returning players] have a good understanding of what the Gator standard is, so I think the guys leading that team [next year will help it] go up from here.” Those are certainly the aspirations the Gators should have 12 months from now — to be competing for a national championship against the best teams in the nation. Is it possible? That depends on your outlook for Florida football and the rest of the SEC. Florida will bring back a quarterback it has true confidence in for the first time in a decade with redshirt junior Kyle Trask returning for his final season. It will also have one of the top pass-catching weapons in the country with sophomore tight end Kyle Pitts only expected to become even more dominant as he works with Trask. However, the Gators are going to be thin at running back, working with a young group of wide receivers (after the veterans the stirred the drink in 2019 depart) and still hoping that their offensive line — which contributed to many of the offense’s problems this season — develops into a strong unit. Defensively, Florida will see both starting defensive ends, its primary linebacker and at least its No. 1 cornerback in junior CJ Henderson off a unit that was strong all season despite some struggles largely due to injury. Will redshirt sophomore CB Marco Wilson return. Does freshman defensive back Kaiir Elam breakout in the Orange Bowl as so many Gators at his position have in the postseason over the years? There’s still a lot of questions to answer about the defense going into the offseason. The best news for Florida — whether it reaches its championship goal in 2020 or not — is that the tide appears to have turned with this program. It was clearly the best team in the Sunshine State in 2019, has improved (but not yet fully strengthened) its recruiting acumen and is now a true threat to unseat Georgia as the power of the SEC East. Perhaps even more importantly, it has Gators of present, future and past believing in what’s ahead. “There was a period of time a few years ago when it seemed like the program had lost that spark — that edge that separated us,” explained former CB Joe Haden, who starred in the 2009 BCS Championship Game (played at the same stadium as Monday night’s Orange Bowl) in an entry for The Players Tribune. “And that’s why I was so happy when Coach Mullen came back to the program, because he knows the level we should be playing at. And he’s put in the work to get us right back there. “I see it. It’s not something that happens all at once — of course not. This is a process, a step-by-step goal that everybody in the program works toward. And that’s why this game matters so much. This is the step that propels us into next season with the right momentum and mentality. “Right now, no other program in the state can touch us. That’s how it should be. But that’s not enough. We all know that. When the Gators are going, when we’re out there playing at our absolute best, there’s no team in the nation that can touch this program.” #OrangeBowl #DanMullen #DavidReese

London city
Afternoon everyone and welcome to todays post about my London trip which Kevin and I went on at the end of June start of July which was definitely a needed break! We went over for about two weeks (thirteen days to be exact) to do the same as we did last year which was to house sit for my aunt who went on holiday and do some touring around and of course some shopping.
We did do a few tourist things last year as it was Kevins first time there so we did the London Eye, went to the Aquarium, saw a film in the IMAX cinema (which is the largest cinema screen in the UK and also has the best popcorn) so this time we tried out a few new things and did some of the same things too so along with all of those I will also start with my three favourite outfits for you!
Double White
https://www.newlook.com/row/womens/clothing/tops/white-organic-cotton-roll-sleeve-t-shirt-/p/608337310?comp=Search
https://www.newlook.com/row/womens/accessories/belts/black-suedette-hammered-buckle-belt/p/609243101?comp=Browse
https://www.newlook.com/row/womens/clothing/jackets-coats/light-green-lightweight-blazer-/p/614292631?comp=Search
https://www.newlook.com/row/womens/clothing/shorts/off-white-paperbag-denim-shorts-/p/613103812?comp=Search
This outfit is so simple but so stylish and in the weather we were in (like degree heat in a city) it was a very comfortable option! I just styled this with the green blazer that I have in the links below to add a pop of colour. I adore these shorts and actually have them in the blue and black version as well because I honestly find it so hard to find shorts that fit. I prefer shorts to be high waisted but the downside of that is that usually for some reason if they are high waisted then they tend to be a bit too short for my liking. I have even ventured off into a childs shorts (Im a freakishly small person and usually shop petite anyway) but thats not always the best because they are shaped for a childs body and not a more “grown up” figure shall we say but these are perfect. They are high waist, looser on the legs and versatile. So there you go a simple but chic and comfortable look for everyday without being too basic at a basic price.
Statement Sleeves
https://www.newlook.com/row/womens/clothing/tops/red-spot-shirred-square-neck-top/p/628454469?comp=Search
https://www.newlook.com/row/womens/accessories/belts/black-suedette-hammered-buckle-belt/p/609243101?comp=Browse
https://www.newlook.com/row/womens/clothing/shorts/off-white-paperbag-denim-shorts-/p/613103812?comp=Search
Now this top is very similar to the daisy print version I posted on Instagram a little while ago and i just had to get the red as well because they are just such a nice little top to have for summer. They are versatile too in a sense that you can wear the sleeves up on the shoulder, as a bardot top, as a one shoulder top and you can dress it up or down. Im really starting to wear more colours as it was one of my resolutions for the year and getting that bit more adventurous with my wardrobe so I’m quite proud of myself for purchasing a bright red colour!
Double Denim
https://www.newlook.com/row/womens/clothing/jeans/petite-blue-%27lift-%26-shape%27-high-rise-ripped-jeans/p/616058440?comp=Search
https://www.newlook.com/row/womens/clothing/tops/white-ribbed-notch-neck-vest/p/628237310?comp=Search
https://www.newlook.com/row/womens/clothing/jackets-coats/blue-bleach-wash-denim-jacket-/p/607046644?comp=Search
The white top I have in the photo is actually out of stock as it was on sale when I bought it so I have added a similar style vest top in the links as an alternative. I just love how the top is casual but still fun and for a vest isn’t too fitted because its more a cotton knit than a proper cotton vest and it has that bit of stretch and movement in it. I love the buttons as well they just add a little vintage vibe to it and make it that bit more interesting. The jeans I bought in Westfields in Shepherd’s Bush while we were in London because I have a very similar pair in the regular fit but they just don’t fit the waist properly (they had to bought in an emergency due to a ripping incident at work) and I just wanted a pair they fitted properly and these are such a good fit. They are a petite version of Newlook’s Lift & Shape denim range which are a really good flattering style of jean so they are definitely my favourite pair right now!
https://www.stradivarius.com/ie/woman/sale/accessories/bags-and-backpacks/mock-croc-crossbody-bag-with-grommets-c1020132595p301035460.html?colorId=001
https://eu.topshop.com/en/tseu/product/side-stripe-joggers-8193578
Two of the things I picked up besides the jeans is this Stradvarius bag which was on sale to I think thirteen pounds which roughly was about fourteen euro so not too much in the difference thank god! Most of my bags at this point are a croc effect and I loved this one because it looks like a designer piece with the trendy double circle design which a lot of stores have on a few different products for the last couple of months especially on belt buckles. The joggers are from Topshop and I am not someone who wears any kind of workout gear or sweatpants and only wears a sweatshirt more towards winter and even then thats only at home not out and about but these were just calling to me. I adore the fact that they are fitted and slim leg but still a jogger so you can pull the ankle up a little bit and have a slightly looser effect on the leg. Also the fact that they are a drawstring waist is a big plus for me! These are the regular fit and mine are the petite which actually went into the sale when I bought them! I also did buy a whole load of make up but I will do a separate post for that.

As we were in London last year as well we did a lot of tourist stuff the first time as Kevin had never been before so this time around we had more of a relaxed less touristy holiday but we did do something for everyday that we were there. We were staying in my aunts house as she had gone on holidays herself so our main job was to look after her two cats Millie and Coco who are also mother and daughter! We did go back and do a couple of things again like go to the Natural History Museum and the IMAX cinema to see Toy Story 4 (so good by the way!) and as I mentioned they do literally the best popcorn of all time. Its like a mixture of salted and sweet popcorn and its just addictive! We went back to Westfields shopping centre twice where I purchased the items below. We did a few new things which included going to a Chocolate Museum in Brixton which I’ll be honest was actually a bit of a let down because it was literally the size of a storage cupboard unfortunately.
One of the new things we did was to go on a tour of Stamford Bridge (Kevins idea obviously) and I have never been into a football stadium before with the exception of being forced to play a few matches in primary school so it was quite cool to see the size of it and actually see it with my own eyes rather than on a tv screen or in pictures and Kevin really enjoyed it which was great! We got a look at the dressing rooms, stands, press room and they had jerseys and lockers out for people to take photos with so it was actually quite cool even though I have absolutely no idea about football!
Another place we discovered was an Italian restaurant called Pasta Brown which specialises in obviously all Italian food and it was really really good! The food was just so delicious and the flavours were so good and everything about it was just really good so I would definitely recommend going there if you are in London because it is definitely worth a visit!
So that is it for my latest post and on my trip my to London! Thanks for reading guys and I will speak to you soon!
Ever yours
Lily
xx

Ranking every NFL’s schedule release video from the incredible to Jerry Jones doing ASMR
Don’t make me watch Jerry do ASMR again. Please.
The release of the NFL schedule has become one of the dumbest things in sports. Entire multi-hour TV specials are devoted to seeing who plays in prime time, and breaking down which teams have the most advantageous bye weeks.
But 2019 was special. It was different. Teams were allowed to have fun on Twitter, and that led to some of the best videos we’ve seen. Some teams took something so boring and mundane and made them magical, others ... not so much.
These were so good we can’t stop watching.
Los Angeles Chargers — Stock Footage reveal
Should we REALLY make our schedule release video with stock footage? yes yes yesyes yesyes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yesyes yes yes yes yesye yes yes yes yes yesyes pic.twitter.com/wAB8CdAfnB
— Los Angeles Chargers (@Chargers) April 18, 2019
Stock footage is mana from heaven, and the Chargers nailed it. The whole thing has this very Tim and Eric vibe to it, which I really appreciate — and it’s so janky it’s good. The Chargers used to be so horrible on Twitter, being mostly first-person accounts of PF Changs. Now they’ve discovered comedy.
Carolina Panthers — Classic video games

Hook this nostalgia directly to my veins. Mortal Kombat II is on point. I love the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater goof. If you’re a child of the 70s, 80s or 90s this is a beautiful, wonderful thing and I love every second of it.
Atlanta Falcons — Game of Thones, with a jab
Football is coming. Full Schedule ➡️https://t.co/vNuHMKwxTs pic.twitter.com/Xb91bWV7dB
— Atlanta Falcons (@AtlantaFalcons) April 17, 2019
Several teams went with a Game of Thrones aesthetic (more on those later), but nobody did it better than the Falcons because of one core moment, which happens 40 seconds in.
Why yes, that is a Ram, obliterating a member of a marching band presumably playing “When the Saints go marching in,” and yes that is a referee running in and waving off the penalty as an ode to the NFC Championship game. It hits such a specific nerve that it’s beautiful.
Better than average.
Pittsburgh Steelers — Mr. Schedule’s Neighborhood
It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Let’s head to the Neighborhood of Make-Believe for our 2019 schedule… pic.twitter.com/blrW7zjwsW
— Pittsburgh Steelers (@steelers) April 18, 2019
I have a two-year-old. So by nature I’ve watched a lot of Mr. Rodgers over the past 24 months. I really appreciate this loving homage to the show, and Mr. Rodgers by extension — a Pittsburgh native. I can appreciate this.
Cleveland Browns — John Dorsey is so old.
EXCLUSIVE: The exact moment GM John Dorsey got our schedule pic.twitter.com/EC1tAvMs4E
— Cleveland Browns (@Browns) April 18, 2019
I appreciate the self depreciation of Browns’ GM John Dorsey to log onto his America Online account, printing it off on one of those printers that makes a horrific whining sound like the shriek of a banshee and pinning it to his wall.
Seattle Seahawks — Beat ‘em up

I like that the bye week is a trip to Pizza Hut. Nice touch.

A solid effort. Went on just a little too long for a single conceit.
These are fine.
