CHECKED OUT THE REST OF THE TRUST CEREMONY ALBUM BY JHARIAH TODAY AND DUDE. THIS ENTIRE ALBUM GOES SO FUCKING HARD I HAVEN'T WENT THIS INSANE OVER A CERTAIN MUSIC ARTIST'S WORK SINCE MAFUMAFU. AND THAT SAYS A *LOT* BECAUSE I AM SO SO ILL ABOUT MAFU'S STUFF FOR SO LONG
RATING THE ENTIRE ALBUM!!! ^_^
TOOTH PACT: Only 3 verses and my God this is already a pretty fucking great start to the whole album?? The way it references and talks about how Jhariah spent 5 years on the creation of this album??? A Peak start to the album i Have to say. 8/10 because i am Sad that this had only 3 verses and other ones in the album simply tower over this one
BIGSHOT: my Fucking God. The atmosphere of this song is actually Fucking Great. Like i definitely have some others that i like more than this song but i cannot deny how this one is just So Fucking Amazing. Dice was right about associating parts of the lyrics with Prometheus and Kenix. 9/10
FIRE4FUN: !!!!! NOW THIS IS WHAT I'M FUCKING TALKING ABOUT!!!!! \o/ THE VOCALS AND THE INSTRUMENTAL GENUINELY MAKE ME INSANE IT GETS ME HYPING AND EXCITED. THE CHORUSSSSS!!! dice was once Correct about the lyrics working for both Yaku and Kenix. Doesn't Elaborate. 10/10 absolutely that kind of song that makes me Insane
RISK, RISK, RISK!: BRO NO FUCKING WONDER IT IS LIKE THEIR MOST VIEWED SONG ON YOUTUBE!!! THIS ALSO GOES SO HARD!!! i have No Words like this one is just So Fucking Good. i like it a lot a lot!! ofc i have some other favs i like more but i have to be real this one is just so good. 10/10
PIN-EYE (MV version aka both Collarbone and PIN-EYE) - ABSOLUTELY. FUCKING. SLAPPING ASS SONGS. PIN-EYE has the most Kenix-sounding instrumental i cannot explain it not even mentioning the lyrics (my God dice really is right about each jhariah song they send for my beasts). But jesus christ this one is one of my top favorites atm. Like one of the top favorite Jhariah songs in all of their discograph. Cannot wait until i get through the rest of A BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO FAKING YOUR DEATH ^_^ 11/10 this one is Amazing
MAYBE LATER DANCE: MAN. HEAD IN HANDS. HEAD IN FUCKING HANDSSSS. ANOTHER FUCKING KENIX SONG TRULY. DICE WAS RIGHT ONCE AGAIN. THIS ONE ABSOLUTELY FUCKING KILLS. THE VOCALS ARE SO GREAT TOO THEY SCRATCH MY BRAIN IN SUCH A NICE WAY. AUGHGHGGJHG💥💥💥 11/10 YOMO DEAD. AMAZING SONG NO NOTES
CONTROL BABY: I CANNOT PUT MY THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS SONG INTO WORDS SO SIMPLY. SO FUCKING INCOHERENT ABOUT IT. YOU UNDERSTAND. INCREDIBLY KENIX-ESQUE SONG AS WELL. 10000/10 IMMEDIATELY OFF THE BOARD.
EAT YOUR FRIENDS: My Fucking GODDDD THE INSTRUMENTAL IN THIS ONEEEE. What if i said. Azrael ass lyrics. Doesn't Elaborate Once Again. DEFINITELY one of my faves i love the contrast between the vocals of Jhariah and Ashrita Kumar. Absolutely Fucking Banging song. 10/10
RE: CONCERNS: JESUS CHRIST💥💥💥💥 I CANNOT TALK ABOUT IT PROPERLY. IT JUST HAS ME SHOOK TO MY VERY CORE. BANGER SONG. THE PURE RAGE THE ANGER IN JHARIAH'S VOCALS AT TIMES IS SIMPLY PERFECTION. knowing the context of the song i feel bad for thinking of kenix at some of the lyrics but Man. Dice was Once Again Right. (most of it is kenix to prometheus in my mind too.) 10000/10
SASUKE: GOD I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO FUCKINF SAY!!! THE WAY IT CUTS OFF. THE LYRICS THE VOCALS. MY GOD ANOTHER FUCKING KENIX SONG IT IS FUTURE!KENIX TOO. DYING I'M DYING I AM BEING KILLED BY THE JHARIAH ROCK. 1000/10
RUSSIAN DOLL: jesus christ. Cannot think. Song Killing Me. You Understand. I shrimply have nothing to say it just makes me [HeadInHands.png]. The most Apollo-esque song i've heard Thamk You (it Does still work for Yaku But. you understand) 10/10
TRUST CEREMONY:
THIS SONG MAKES ME PHYSICALLY FUCKING SICK!!!!💥💥💥💥💥
I CANNOT TALK ABOUT IT WITHOUT TURNING INTO A BUNCH OF ATOMS. BEING REDUCED TO MOLECULES AND NOTHING ELSE. JESUS CHRISTTTT THE SONGS OF EVER. CANNOT LISTEN TO IT ANFD FEEL NORMAL. THE GREATEST EXPERIENCE. THE MOST FUCKING AZRANIX (AND BAOLLO) SONG OF EVER. 10000000000000000/10 THIS SONG IS ABSOLUTELY FUCKING FLAWLESS
#GOD!!!! THIS ENTIRE ALBUM WAS SUCH AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!! I LOVE ITTTT SOOOO MUCH#playing EAT YOUR FRIENDS as of writing this tag btw. My God this one goes so hard.#I'LL TRY TO GET THROUGH THE REST OF A BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO FAKING YOUR GUIDE SOON ENOUGH!!! \o/#yomoposting

9 ppl to get to know better
thank you for the tag @ghostradiodylan it has been such a long time since I've done a tag for anything & i desperately need a break from the writing/editing nightmare
1. three ships: Max Brinly/Laura Kearney own my soul, it's not even funny. i wish them every happiness forever. i'm also a firm believer in Phoenix Wright/Miles Edgeworth & i will never stop rotating them in my brain. let's go with Steven Universe/Connie Maheswaren bc i love them & if i keep thinking about ships i like, it will completely derail me
2. first ever ship: Ryan & Chad from high school musical. please don't ask me to elaborate
3. last song: "Weirdest Science" by Mo Mo O'brien which is an absolute banger that i stand by 100% (altho i could put together a whole playlist on songs i want everyone to hear) but an honorable mention to Mothica bc i have been looping their albums for a few days
4. last film: i forced my cousins to watch "Aliens in the Attic" bc it was one of my favorite films as a kid & neither of them had heard of it so i needed to enlighten them. that movie is insane & nonsensical & i love it so much
5. currently reading: i've been, admittedly pretty bad about reading full, published books lately & i alwasy pull back from reading when i'm on a writing craze. i was knee-deep in "Solar Lunacy" by bamsara before i had to break for writing (highly recommend for any fnaf fans who somehow haven't seen it) but in my free time, i've been rereading "Every Last Word" by Tamara Ireland Stone which was my favorite book in high school & not just bc the girl i was in love with recommended it & loaned me her copy. that's uhhhhh unrelated
6. currently watching: at the moment of typing this, i'm watching one of Danny Gonzalez's reviews of a disney movie. in general, my cousin & i have been rewatching some criminal minds but other than that, i'm between shows
7. currently consuming: seaweed bc i'm cursed with the desire for the Salty Ocean Leaf. it's actually rlly good
8. currently craving: cotton camdy miwlkshake 🤤
tag 9 ppl - @geniusbuilttm @girlypear @insertlovelyperson @adangersandwich @cjthestoryteller @pileontheyears @torchmlp @solarmoonecilpse @deepseawave
sorry for anyone i tagged who was ready tagged or doesn't want to - no pressure & also im sorry 😩 hope y'all are having a good night

Guess who's back
Back again
Shady's back
Tell a friend
I'm sorry I didn't come by earlier but I have a few deadlines to meet *cough* book rep *cough* and I had to study and I was out with friends and shit so I didn't talk to anyone outside my close contacts :< *Chrissapointed in herself*
Ahenyways I need to yap to someone so be prepped for a long ass thing (*huff* and no, it's not what you think it is you dirty minded lil otter ---)
So thing one I'm going nuts about is I can't fliPPING FIND THIS FUCKING FIC RRRRRAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH >:c
I'm like genuinely enraged over here bcuz my stupid ass didn't save the link and like I wanna read it so bad rn its unhealthy ... Worst thing is I remember finding it over a taglist and I've checked all the accs on the taglist and it's not there :(( and when I look for the title it doesn't come up 😔😔
Secondly, SKZ music. [I'm sorry but I can't talk abt it to anyone irl] I'm not even talking about the music videos, or the meanings behind the words and lyrics, I'm just referring to the tracks on Spotify.
MIROH. Voices. YAYAYA. My pace. District 9. Grow up. Astronaut.
Sure, it's not the whole album, but- excuses-moi??!!?? Just to start on MIROH. It's like, funny bcuz of the instrumentals but the text gives it like a serious vibe too and the rapping -- (we love) oh and not to forget the lion and the eagle fighting in the background.
Then, Voices. To this day, I can't decide if it's:
"step out on the(m) voices"
OOOOOORRRRRRRR
"still battle them voices"
And I haven't done research, so may this rest in the MLD* forever.
(*MLD = Misheard Lyrics Department)
Then, YAYAYA. I'm amazed by the genre range of stray kids because to me that's one of the most rock/metal songs I've heard. And then to imagine Jiji playing it on a fancy e-guitar... I mean I'm delusional but even that is out of reach. On that note, Changbin's raps are giving *✨sparkle sparkle✨* lately, especially bcuz I feel like in SKZ2020 his rapping is pretty present? Iykyk I don't flippin' know how to phrase it.
On the note of Changbin, I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the first part he has in my pace. And in general his parts in that song. Idk how to phrase it (again) but I really think it's absolutely cool that his voice sounds so... this is gonna sound so weird... Scratchy. Like he's just been screaming his loungs out doing god knows what and then recording. And he sounds like a duck lmfao (I can't explain what I mean because I don't have enough standard vocabulary for this but yeh), like his voice is kinda deep but also like light and like squawky/scratchy and like idk what I'm rambling here :3
(ot8 speaking btw)
District 9, no comment. Just vibin' n enjoyin' in front of the bathroom mirror.
Grow up is giving kdrama final episode happily ever after outro//lofi study session in a library vibes. .... Delusions kicking and picturing that kdrama scenario rn, smh...
Astronaut: "MC happily moving back to their childhood hometown after being abroad for ten years Roadtrip" and filming/vlogging on the way back - kinda vibe. Or one of those DIY videos with the nice music and annoying DIYs.
Next up, Charmer. I don't know shit about the meaning of the text but ain't no way I won't vibe to that banger. It's just me being an uneducated little shit, ik, but who needs translations if I get the vibe without it?
Then, Novel. I don't speak a single syllable Japanese. But holy mother o' God, will I be shouting that
"MASHIRO NAKAMI NI OMOI" *so sorry if this ain't the correct romanization, I do it by ear so-*
either quietly when I have my earpods in and and have to get ready for bed or really loud when I'm out in the fields with my music.
On that note, I also dislike if theres a Japanese AND a Korean version of a song that I like. Like, with THE SOUND, I really like the Japanese version but I also kinda like the Korean version but I always have high hopes it's the Jap ver and then I get disappointed when it isn't but I'm also too lazy to kick the kor ver from my playlist :/
So I'm really exhausted rn because I had a sleepover at my friend's, technically speaking a girl's night ( = >2 hrs of sleep for me) and technically I wanna say bye rn but. Hold up.
So we're four girls, and out of us all I'm likely the most clingy. Like, I luv hugs and holding hands (in a platonic way) and cuddles and Skinship and et cetera , and it was like:
TV
Friend 1 - Friend 2 - Me - Friend 3
And 1&2 took up very much space so 3 almost fell off the couch.
And then we were like watching horror movies (my requests for anime or httyd were denied bcuz it's kid's movies and they all liked horror movies better)
Anyhow, my hand ended up on 3's thigh. Like, in a "I'm her boyfriend" kinda manner. I didn't notice. (HOW???) Then, SHE noticed and went like, ey let's take a snap and send it to my ex and pretend you're my bf!
spoiler alert, if anything I'd be gf material. I mean, yes, compared to hers my hands are huge and yes my voice is quite low/deep but bf? Ik it was pretense but still... I mean my boys kinda count me as a boy too but that's different.
Yesterday I also learned, it's genetically stated if you're straight or homosexual. Like, it's in your DNA if you're straight, bi, gay, asexual or any other identification there is. The only thing you really do is realize what you are and label yourself like it. Come to talk about it, what's your opinion on the LGBTQ community?
Did you drink any macha already this week? Or does your fancy drink change with season? And if so, what do you drink? I drink hot chocolate and children's punch. Like, the steaming hot fruit juice if you know what I mean.
Love,
- 🦦
dont be sorry or disappointed in urself! :)) ive also been really MIA especially on tumblr. ive still been writing on the side but i havent been on here much since i last posted lol
i genuinely love most of the skz songs ive heard, but out of all the "noise" music MIROH and My Pace are probably in my top 10 (miroh is prob in my top 3 tbh lol)
im bisexual so im part of lgbtq community :3 and all of my closest friends (minus the two hetero men lol) are lgbt as well!
no matcha this week :(( ive been out of the powder to make it at home and i havent been able to go out to a cafe/dunkin donuts to get it made for me </3

Weekly Music Roundup 5/7/24 :D
Hey! I hope y'all had a great week. I've been super busy as of late since I'm packing and preparing for a long trip, but I still managed to squeeze some listening into my miserable daily Walmart visits. I didn't keep with the daily schedule, but I have many albums to get through on the 12-hour drive that I will probably be on when this is posted. Good times!
This week, I listened to:
underscores - Wallsocket (Director's cut)
Everyone Asked About You - Everyone Asked About You - EP
Tinashe - 333
English Teacher - This Could Be Texas
Syzy - The weight of the world
underscores - Wallsocket (Director's cut) (2024)
I started my Friday out by listening to the new Wallsocket deluxe “Director’s cut” tracks. Holy shit holy shit holy shit holy shit. These new tracks, albeit mostly familiar to me ("My guy (Corporate shuffle)" and "Northwest zombie girl" can both be found on Wallsocket ARG websites, and April teased "Stupid (Can't run from the urge)" on Tiktok), are absolutely breathtaking. "My guy (Corporate Shuffle)" is a wonderful throwback pop song that has a simple shuffling beat, but by the end of the song it goes absolutely insane. "Northwest zombie girl" is super fun as well, but not my favourite upon first listen. I think i need a little more time with "CCTV" to really get it - these are my initial thoughts and not full reviews, and I still need to deep dive into this one's lyrics. However, the standout has GOT to be "Stupid (Can't run from the urge)." "Stupid" is a cute glitch-pop track with the punchiest percussion I've ever heard in a song. This might sound kind of weird, but each time I hear the kick I feel a kick in my chest. It's epic. The melodies are incredibly earwormy and I haven't been able to get the song out of my head. Overall, this new "Director's cut" builds upon an already incredible record (SERIOUSLY. Listen to Wallsocket if you haven't already. It's insane) with even more well-produced, well-written, well-sung, bangers. I wish anyone listening to Wallsocket for the first time "Good Luck!"
Everyone Asked About You - Everyone Asked About You - EP (1997)
We love a 4-track EP moment. I saw one of my AOTY mutuals give this a 100 so I listened to it because I had a free moment, and 4-track EPs are, like, my favourite thing ever. This is a cute set of twee / emo love songs with sugary melodies and adorable lyrics. It’s wholesome and loving and absolutely gorgeous throughout!
Tinashe - 333 (2021)
I can't recall a time I've ever been this excited about an artist as I have since I heard my first Tinashe song. Her artistry is unmatched and I seriously admire her refusal to adhere to basic cookie-cutter r&b, instead embracing a really unique and eclectic style. She’s been so consistently making some of the most innovative music in the industry, so it’s no surprise that 333 is as excellent as it is. This is a really solid addition to her discography, and while I think BB/ANG3L is a stronger record, 333 still shines. There's so many moments on this album that set it apart from other albums from similar artists. She explores so many different sounds and vibes on here - everything from breakbeats on "Shy Guy" to dance-pop on "The Chase." I'm so happy Nashe is getting more recognition these days; she really deserves all her flowers!!
English Teacher - This Could Be Texas (2024)
I first discovered English Teacher in August or September of last year, when their song "The World's Biggest Paving Slab" appeared on my Youtube recommended. I had that song on LOOP for months after that - it was just so damn good. I didn't really keep up with ET as a band in the months between "Paving Slab" and This Could Be Texas, their debut record. I saw it on AOTY when it first came out and was strangely, really scared to give it a listen. So I put it off way more than I should've. I guess a part of me was afraid that this album wouldn't live up to my expectations only hearing "Paving Slab.' But god damn did they deliver. Suffice to say this very much DOES live up to my expectations. There are so many diverse sounds and themes being explored here, all while going incredibly hard. The vocals are excellent, and the melodies are all so memorable. It's an ambitious album and it's clear that they've mastered their craft already, one album in. Ughhh it's so good. There's more exciting moments like the aforementioned "The World's Biggest Paving Slab" and "R&B," slower and gentler cuts like "Sideboob" (my FAV!!), and really fun synthy cuts like "Not Everybody Gets to Go to Space," which while being my least favourite, still sticks out to me! If that's the lowest point on your album, you have a damn good album. I'm so glad I mustered up the courage to finally listen to this, and I will eagerly await what other lessons my English Teachers will teach on their next record.
Syzy - The weight of the world (2024)
I want to start this blurb out by saying that riddim is NOT my forté. I am totally unfamiliar with the conventions of the genre and how this holds up compared to Syzy's contemporaries. That being said, this shit is heavy as fuck. I went into TWOTW totally blind, with no prior knowledge of what kind of music Syzy makes. All I knew was that there was a kmoe feature.
Each track is so intricately put together, with really delicate nuances and details hidden beneath the layers. This is an album that demands every ounce of your attention. I tried listening to this while reading a book (usually goes well, even with really loud shit) and I could not focus on the book at all. There is no way to tune this out. That being said, you won't want to tune this out. You will sit down and listen to TWOTW and you WILL enjoy it. There's something to like about this record for everyone - not just those who normally jive with this type of music. The melodies are incredible and the buildups and drops are immaculate. The production is so detailed, with flourishes here and there that keep you engaged. Not to mention the kmoe feature is phenomenal.
"HEART123" features a gorgeous, euphoric melody, and great vocals from Kale. The first drop took my breath away (as many moments on this project did...I need an inhaler), and the energy was infectious. Same goes for "Take my energy!", an obvious standout and definitely one of the best tracks I've heard this year. What the fuck? I'm headbanging so damn hard. The outro is one of the gentler passages on the record, giving you some breathing room before you're thrown back into the fun with "Caught up (in circles)" - a track that sounds like exactly that: spinning rapidly in a circle. That's my favourite 3-track run on the record, but I could go on and on about the track continuity like this. TWOTW manages to find a wonderful balance between soft, ambient sections and visceral yet euphoric drops. There's buildup and release. Inhales and exhales. Ups and downs.
This is starting to exceed my usual "short review" length and I'd really rather not make this a wall of text. I'll probably write a longer review for this record because HOLY SHIT??!?!??!!? But all in all, I think The weight of the world sees Syzy making some of the best electronic music out there. It's explosive and euphoric, with passages that both take your breath away and breathe life back into you. It's an insane effort and I'm definitely going to delve into more of their discography in the future. Wow, I love dubstep.
Okay! And that concludes my weekly first listens. I may or may not post next week - I'm going to be really busy and might not have time to write these. Nonetheless I'll try my best. See you soon and I hope you all have a great week :]

Top 10 songs of 2023, reviewed by yours truly
As per tradition when Spotify Wrapped comes out I write short reviews of the best songs of the year so here we go:
10. One More Time by blink-182
The biggest reveal from the world of pop punk last year was that blink-182 is back... again. First I was a little sceptical especially after hearing Edging but this song, and its video made me listen. The lyrics are about the long lost friendship between Travis, Mark and Tom, and to be completely honest I shed a couple teardrops the first few times I gave it a listen. Amazing song from an amazing record.
9. Homicide by Magnolia Park
I'm completely new to this band, I found this song randomly in an Instagram reel that caught my attention. It's super catchy, almost Linkin Park-ish vibes that is a little "Octanecore" little pop punk, but nevertheless an absolute banger.
8. Jaded by Spiritbox
Spiritbox is the new shit in the scene, everyone and their mom knows about it. But just a little less than a month ago they put out an EP consisting of 6 melodic and heavy bangers called The Fear of Fear. This song stands out from the EP because of the insanely catchy chorus, the breakdown with the clean guitar melody and just the overall feeling of the song. Courtney has always been open about her influences (even and especially the pop ones) and this song is a great example to it.
7. Lost by Linkin Park
On the 20th anniversary of Meteora, Linkin Park released a bunch of unreleased material from the recording session of the legendary album and this was the first single off of it. What more can I say about it? If you haven't heard it despite liking Linkin Park then shame of you.
6. Without A Whisper by Invent, Animate
Another surprise as I've never been a big fan of the band. Not being so into the Deftones-y spacey vibes before, this band always has been a hit or miss. Until Heavener. It's blended so seemlessly that first I didn't even notice that there's now screaming instead of singing with a bunch of reverb. I still almost never skip this song despite Heavener being released earlier this year.
5. Fake Out by Fall Out Boy
This one is probably the only song on the list that is not a single, not even the top 3 from their album So Much (for) Stardust. The boys are officially back and this song proves it, The falsetto hook in the chorus got stuck in my head after the first few listens. I'm really really glad they are back to playing instrumental music because that's what they do best.
4. Might Love Myself by Beartooth
For me this year was about healing. Healing from a past breakup, losing my previous job, and just in general the depressing reality of adulthood. After hearing the first singles from the latest Beartooth album it was obvious that Caleb, the singer for the band had been through a similar journey prior to writing this record. This song stands out for me because of the overwhelmingly positive self-loving lyrics that are a must-listen when you have been through a lot of shit. I also like the little "whoo" before the second chorus, it really makes it sound like Caleb had a lot of fun recording it.
3. Haunted by Spanish Love Songs
The most underrated band on the list by a landmile. Also probably the most depressing band I've ever listened to, which says something. The whole new record No Joy has some really interesting musical changes from the previous ones, there's less screaming, less distorted guitars, it has more of a The Killers vibe than something off tumblr's 2015 pop punk hardcore best of (looking at you The Story So Far). Haunted is a bittersweet tune about being nostalgically sad about the old days, and for an old fart that is closer to 30 than to 20 it's a comforting thing that I'm not alone with this feeling.
2. LosT by Bring Me The Horizon
What do you get when you mix 'I'm not Okay' and current era Bring Me The Horizon? That's right, this fucking banger. I think throughout the year this song was the only one that I've never skipped. The pop punk-emo feeling is in every note, the breakdown is easily my most favorite of the year, the callout for it is even. "I think i'm gonna break down". Fucking genius by the most dynamic songwriting duo of the music scene, Oli and Jordan. The powerpop elements are also fun to listen to, it just blends really well. 10/10 banger, looking forward to the EP.
Ascensionism/Take Me Back To Eden by Sleep Token
The biggest band of the year was 100% Sleep Token. My Spotify was POSSESSED by their music this year, so obviously it was a tough choice to pick a song from their latest album so I cheated a little with the longest, most progressive songs of the record. Their music feels like a religious experience for me and the best example to this is Ascensionism, the "YOU MAKE ME WISH I COULD DISAPPEAR" line hits, the rap part fits perfectly, the guitars are heavy as balls, the piano intro is the perfect introduction, it's a 12/10 song, it's that good
And honestly I have the same feelings about Take Me Back to Eden. The titular song and its callbacks to Chokehold made me feel like I'm in a chokehold myself. The epitome of great songwriting was when from the nature sounds through rapping we got to the heaviest, low tuned breakdown of the last couple years
So there you have it, my personal top 10+1 list. If you read my review this far, thank you.

Today's compilation:
The Wild Bunch (18 Metal Masters) 1985 Heavy Metal / Thrash Metal / Glam Metal / Progressive Metal / Speed Metal / Hard Rock
Oh man, I swear that I'm about to go to my local thrift store to buy a denim jacket and then tear its sleeves off and start securing patches to it with safety pins after listening to this thing. Back in 1985, the cassette-only, New York-based ROIR label, in conjunction with Hit Parader Magazine, put out this ephemeral mid-80s snapshot of all things metal, from the glam to the prog to the speed to the thrash, and it just goes so satisfyingly hard, you guys 😤👊🤘. If you were a metalhead in the 80s, this feels like something you'd definitely pop into the tape deck of your boxy red sedan and then cruise on into your suburban high school's parking lot with, looking like a total badass with the volume cranked up and the windows rolled down. It's really such a whole goddamn vibe 😎.
A lot of folks rightfully make fun of most of the stupid and inane hair band material that ruled the Sunset Strip back in the 80s, and, outside of the thrashing big four of Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth, and Slayer—the latter three of whom appear on this album itself—that highly commercialized sound does really seem to have defined what 80s metal was for most people. But the heart of that enormous, MTV-aided boom really occurred a little after the release of this tape, so what you end up getting here is a bunch of sweet tunes that, unless 80s metal is already your domain, you probably haven't ever heard before.
And one really need look no further than this cassette's tone-setting opener for a prime example. "Pull the Trigger," by Seattle's Q5, is just a quintessential piece of some straight-up hard and heavy 1980s rock music if I've ever heard it before. These guys reunited in 2014, but prior to that, they had only managed to put out a pair of albums in the mid-80s. And on this particularly fierce tune from their debut LP, lead singer Jonathan Scott K. sports an impressive and passionately scratchy yell that smacks of a higher-pitched Brian Johnson from AC/DC. And, of course, the song also comes with a kick-ass guitar solo too.
Then, not too long after that, we get another band that also only put out a couple albums in the mid-80s before getting back together: a quintet of speed demons called Agent Steel, whose absolute fit of fury, "Taken by Force," should have you going totally ballistic by the time the back-to-back solos hit. It's just so utterly jaw-dropping what these guys were able to conjure up with all their energy in that one 🤯.
And then another fast gem on here happens to come from—say it with me now—yet another band that only blessed us with a pair of albums in the mid-80s before they ended up reuniting too: LA's Abattoir, who provide a swifter cover of one of speed metal's biggest ever commercial hits, "Ace of Spades," which is originally by the band that many regard to be the first ever in speed metal history, Motörhead. Basically, if you love the original version of this song, I don't really see how you couldn't love this newer one too. It's high-octane fuel for a flying-motorcycle-riding skeleton whose skull is perpetually on fire, which, in other words, means that it's a total banger 🔥.
So, outside of the dumb and tacky hair metal hits that the irony-poisoned side of me really can't help but love, I've never been much in the habit of actually listening to quality 80s metal before. But this little cassette tape here appears to have opened up something of a brand new world for me. I always assumed that there was good 80s metal out there outside of the big four, but I never really seemed to have found much of it; until now 🙂.
Highlights:
Q5 - "Pull the Trigger" Shok Paris - "Marseilles de Sade/Battle Cry" Agent Steel - "Taken by Force" Anthrax - "Metal Thrashing Mad" Megadeth - "Chosen Ones" Abattoir - "Ace of Spades"

Your taste in music is very Hell Yeah! You are introducing me to new things too, I'm enjoying geotic and DMX krew! As for what I can offer you:
- I feel like you might like Love Potion, especially the album XXX (a personal fav). You mentioned liking when electronic music feels fresh open and clear, I feel like this album does a lot of that (Sage Heart especially imo, makes me feel like I'm in a mall and I look up and there's a big clear pool (with a mermaid(?)) and behind that the sun is shining through)
- DJ Shadow is also a long time fav, I highly recommend the album Endtroducing for more hip-hop type rhythms. (Same with Zero 7, they're not as much electronic more trip hop which I could recommend a whole cavalcade for that kind of genre)
- Röyksopp is excellent, Happy Up Here and The Girl and the Robot (I used to listen to this one while reading my first fanfics) are banger songs.
- Chris Petra's music bangs, good soundscapes
- Boards of Canada is an all time FAV of ambiance, absolutely transports me and I'm now realizing that this may be an overwhelming amount of music!
I could ramble about this stuff all day lol if any of this doesn't speak to you it's all good no sweat! If you want more I am happy to provide! Thank you for humoring me 😅
YEESSS RÖYKSOPP AND BOARDS OF CANADA CLASSIC <33 two i forgot to mention but also love!! adore the fact that boards of canada was used in one of the best scenes in sinister. i haven't heard of the other ones but i'll definitely give them a listen, thanks for giving me the time of day! geotic's album morning shore (eon isle) is one i play all the time it's so calming.

@deep-space-titst agged me to share 5 songs I've been listening to of late and I can never say no to an opportunity to plug my favorite artists. So heeeeerrrrrreeeee we go.
First up is one of my favorite genres of song writing. Let's call the genre Fuck the Police.
I love SAULT, they have such a unique sound blending funk, jazz, soul, punk, and hip hop. They’re an incredibly tight band and the lyrics are always brilliant. ACAB!!!!!
Next up is song from one of my favorite artists, Mykki Blanco, fresh off their latest album.
I've have been listening to Mykki for a long time now and it's been so cool seeing their music and persona evolve over the years. I've always loved her music but I'm absolutely in love with this current era of Mykki Blanco. Can't wait to see what he does next.
My third song is an oldie but goodie.
This is my current go to track for one of my all time favorite activities: Smoking a fat joint and going for a walkabout in the city while listening to music. 'Nuff said.
At number four we've got one the the latest singles from one of my all time favorite punk bands, HIRS COLLECTIVE.
If you're trans and love punk music you've almost certainly listened to G/L/O/S/S (if you haven't heard of them Slap yourself in the face rn and go listen to 'em). G/L/O/S/S disbanded but HIRS Collective is their spiritual successor; in fact Sadie Switchblade herself has collaborated with HIRS more than a few times. This single is from their upcoming album and I can not fucking wait for the whole album to drop. Every song they've realeased so far has been an absolute banger (I especially love XOXOXOXOXOX featuring one of my other favorite bands, MELT BANANA). They collaborate with a lots of other queer and trans artists including Laura Jane Grace and the collaborations are always super interesting. It goes without saying that trans folks don't have it easy, the world is rather unkind to us; whenever I'm at the end of my rope with the transphobia I have to deal with or when my heart breaks at seeing other trans folks, especially those I know and love, suffering I turn to to HIRS COLLECTIVE because sometimes you need the catharsis of a primal scream set to some blast beats so fierce and heavy they'll blow your tits clean off.
And last but certainly not least is a track from an artist very near and dear to my heart, who has not received the accolades she deserves. I'm kinda always listening to Jordana (FKA 187) and it's hard to choose just one song of hers.
Jordana LeSense is, imho, the greatest drum and bass artist of all time and most people have never heard of her. I believe her immense talent has been overlooked because she's a trans woman. She walked so Juliana Huxtable, SOPHIE, Eris Drew, Octa Octa, Jessica Jess, and Tami T (It's my duty to sneak in some plugs for more trans artists) could run. Jordana use to go by the moniker 187, a name she earned for blowing out her friend's speaker making her hard and heavy beats. Jordana is a true trans legend and a personal hero of mine. Her music definitely speaks to the trans experience. When she was only 13 she began her medical transition in total secrecy, an experience that I am certain informed the song Deep Stealth. She announced her tranistion in 1998, around the time she released her second Album, Quality Rolls. With the release of that album she was set to become an icon of the drum and bass scene. Tragically, while on tour in Ohio in 2000, she was victim of a violent hate crime at the hands of two men, who were never convicted because The Pigs never charged them, and she suffered a traumatic brain injury that caused nerve damage to her face. She stopped making music for a very long time after that.
BUT she's back! No longer going by the 187 moniker Jordana is back and making music. Please go check out her bandcamp, show her some love and buy some music.
Here's her soundcloud
Jordana hasn't released any new albums recently, that I know of anyway, but she still does live performances and if you follow her on IG or twitter she lists her performance dates there and you might be able to catch her!
My greatest wish is for people, trans folks especially, to rediscover Jordana’s music and lavish her with the attention she deserves.
OK I tag my wife @bandyriddles, @dissonant-skies, @basicallymsfrizzle, @zephy-n-ky, and @rynejoslyn

My top 3 Favorite new hip hop artists (not a debate)
My top 3 Favorite new hip hop artists (not a debate) Cr1tterI really dont kno where to start with this 1,000 carrot diamond of a young lady. I found her, and her music when i was 25 and instantly fell in love. Everything about this grl is so unique. I honestly haven't seen a human this genuinely unique sinse cyndi lauper. Her style, approach, her technique, melodies, her flows, and just everything about her is a diamond in the rough. Featuring songs such as "Money burn", "She said", and "shaun white, Her album "Underdog tale" is damn near the most unique versatile hip hop project ive personally ever heard, in 28 yrs. The same can be said for her project called "Fool Hardy"... "Bugs" and "Hand me downs" are a couple more songs that are absolutely brilliant as well. Her melodies are so painful, catchy, nostalgic soulful, swagged out, freeing, full of life, and tear jerking, that u can tell shes been through absolute hell despite only being 22 years old. I will always support her, and her music, and i wish her a long, lengthy, and successful career. Dave Blunts.Although his lyrical content, aproach, and style may seem "unorthodox" and maybe even controversial to some people, ill never take credit from the fact that this is a phenomenal artist. His ability to come up with so many different unique, soulful, turnt, catchy, swagged out melodies one after another is unlike anything ive seen or heard in a little while, and cant be taken from him. His most popular song seems to be "The Cup" but in my opinion, thats far from his best song. "Scream", "head at LAX", "Taco Bell", "Clap for me", and "I dont wana beat her" are some of my favorites, just to name a few. Its rare that you find a hip hop artist who you have more than 10 - 15 of their songs in your library that you enjoy regularly. Banger after banger after banger.Drippin so pretty. What can i say. One of the best artists ive ever heard. His deep, painful, haunting, soulful, nostalgic heartbreaking voice, and melodies, are enough to captivate anyone. Although hes extremely versatile, making songs that you can't help but smile, laugh, swag, dance, and get turnt to, such as "Dio brando", "To the tomb", "WTF pt2" "YEAH!", and "blood on my jacket" you can tell that his main approach is pain, suffering, and, heartbreak. And boy does he make you feel it. Songs like "Rock wit me" are so painful, and devastating, so much so that it'll bring tears to your eyes while strangely enough making you feel turnt ,and nostalgic, and happy at the same time. In addition to all the above, he's also a really down to earth young man and an also, extremely talented musician in real life too. having a passion for drums, guitar, and an appreciation for a wide range of music, including black metal, which would explain his familiarity with notes, melodies, etc.Honorable mentions: devstacks, k supreme, duwop kaine, and prettifun. Thank you for your time, and its an honor to maybe have blessed you with some fire shit! Submitted January 24, 2025 at 02:12PM by Waytoven https://ift.tt/hRqVgNx via /r/Music

The No-Skip Albums: tag game!

Thanks @ace-of-hearts-and-spades for the tag this was so cool. And difficult because I have so many no skip albums apparently? Also, yes, every Florence + The Machine and Tove Lo album is included, I just saved some space and made little collages.
rules: share the albums that you can listen to nonstop, those lightning in a bottle-albums that scratch ur brain just right. every single track, an absolute banger. u could not skip one if u tried, no notes, stunning, show-stopping, immaculate, ur no-skip albums.
bonus & optional (but imo, v fun) rules: 1) add a track rec for us to listen to! AND 2) share ur favorite line(s) from that track!..
Everyone is tagged. As a treat.
Track rec time. I didn't put lyrics for every song because I'm very tired✌️ Have fun.
Advanced Basics 💿 USS (Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker)
Song - Built To Break

Pain Killer 💿 Little Big Town
Song: Tumble and Fall
It's a want you, it's a need you, it's a hold on through the pain
It's a get through what you got to, 'cause it can't stay the same
It's a long talk with the lights off, it's the last breath in your lungs
It's the deep end that we jump in, it's the love that we become
It's a reach out, it's a white flag, it's a forfeit of the game
It's a let go of the ego, and the whisper of your name
It's a fight for, not a defend, it's a stay out in the rain
It's the knowin' that you love me more than anything
Mr. Misunderstood 💿 Eric Church
Song: Chattanooga Lucy
With Teeth 💿 Nine Inch Nails
Song: You Know What You Are?
Beauty Behind the Madness 💿 The Weeknd

In the night she hears him calling
In the night she's dancing to relieve the pain

Dollar bills and tears keep falling down her face
She'll never walk away (I don't think you understand)
Florence + The Machine

Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too
So I stayed in the darkness with you
Album: Ceremonials Song: What The Water Gave Me
And oh, poor Atlas / The world's a beast of a burden / You've been holding on a long time / And all this longing / And the ships are left to rust / That's what the water gave us
Cause she's a cruel mistress
And a bargain must be made
But oh, my love, don't forget me
When I let the water take me
Album: How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful
Song: Various Storms & Saints
Now find a rooftop to sing from / Now find a hallway to dance / You don't need no edge to cling from / Your heart is there, it's in your hands / I know it seems like forever I know it seems like an age / But one day this will be over I swear it's not so far away
Album: High As Hope Song: June

I'm so curious. As you make your way through the Beatles solo stuff, which songs/albums do you find yourself going back to the most? Because, personally, I find that my initial reaction to a piece of music isn't necessarily representative of how I'll feel about it long term. Occasionally you mention relistening to a song or two, but I'd love to know if any concrete favorites have emerged so far? (Of course, I'd love to hear anything you want to say about those favorites musically, too.) Thanks!
Hi anon! You're very right! I actually make sure to listen to an album at least two or three times before fully forming an opinion on the whole thing.
My favourite albums as a whole have been Ram, Band On The Run and Walls and Bridges, I think. Those are the one I like basically all the songs on (also my personal hot take is that BOTR > Ram).
Ram is just so playful, production-wise, its personality is infectious. I've actually only quite recently gained an appreciation for 3 Legs (which is one of my top songs on the album now) and Monkberry Moon Delight (I know, I know)! As Vampire Weekend fan the album appeals to me greatly heheheh.
Band On The Run is literally kind of a perfect album? It's just so expertly crafted and is the first album I ever listened to where I could FEEL the cohesion on the first listen. The transition from Mamunia to No Words is a highlight for me and also the title track is a straight up banger that I wish could be LONGER!! (specifically the intro parts!). Also interesting to me how much it parallels Sgt Pepper in structure (the loose "band" motif, the use of reprises, song transitions, the way the last track feels like an encore, ending on an earbursting crescendo, having a tiny little hidden track-like thing at the end).
Walls And Bridges is just A Good Time. One thing I like about it is how it revisits musical ideas from Imagine and – in my opinion – improves on them. It also feels really cohesive while being very versatile musically and vulnerable without compromising in on the unadulterated joy of music unlike some John albums. I think it's really adventurous and it's sooooooo sad that this is his penultimate album of original songs (well third-last, if you count Milk and Honey) because he showed so much growth here, as a songwriter AND as a producer. :( The verse of #9 Dream is straight up the most gorgeous harmony I've ever heard I think?
I also really love a lot of the songs on All Things Must Pass but I rarely find myself listening to it all the way through, because it's just a bit too much and a bit too slow for me. That being said, I listen to My Sweet Lord all the fucking time and it's very high up there among all the post-Beatles songs I've heard. The purest of serotonins, and as someone who is largely negative on religiosity it's kind of insane to me how much power this song holds over me.
Outside those albums, the songs I find myself relistening to the most are: Junk, (<- possibly my absolute favourite post-Beatles song) Man We Was Lonely, Isolation, Oh My Love, Crippled Inside, Tomorrow, the medley at the end of Red Rose Speedway, Who Can See It, 6 O'Clock, I Know (I Know).
But I have a Spotify playlist where I put in most of the songs I actively enjoy (also I basically only listen to the Raw Studio Mixes of Imagine cause I find production choices on that album… Questionable) lmao, which is actually pretty long cause overall I've been having a good time so far :) (I haven't added anything from Goodnight Vienna yet, cause I need to relisten once or twice before deciding which songs to put in lol)
#ask#anon#music talk#also: i wouldnt skip smile away or heart of the country if my Goal was to listen to Ram#but i just dont Feel Them quite often and I wanted my playlist to not constantly force me to skip lol

I'm currently at school but it's okay I have music class left and that's never anything serious! I just finished art class and that's the best tbh the teacher lets us listen to music with headphones while drawing and the funky gay musicals I listen to are always motivating!! I listen to In trousers way too much tbh, I'm absolutely obsessed with that musical because it's incomprehensible for sure but it's also gay and about Marvin, my all time favorite character tbh and it's by Bill Finn my beloved and literally all the songs on the album are bangers and Chip Zien, Alison Fraser and Mary Testa just have so perfect voices like it hits spots on my brain that just feels RIGHT-
Alright got carried away there
Overall I'm in a pretty good place in my life rn! I'm out to my mom as bi and non binary, my entire family knows now that me n my mom will move to England next year (which in itself is AMAZING, I can finally get out of this homophobic hellhole of a country AND the 2nd biggest place for stage musical will be like??? Less than an hour away from me?? That's the dream) and I think I'm starting to get an idea for what I want my future to be like which is great!!
But I already finished watching Heartstopper and like It Wasn't Enough, I need more
