one thing i do think is INCHERESTING about the substance is the use of food to evoke a disgust-reaction in the audience because i have quite a few sensory-based disordered eating behaviours and the movie completely nailed how i move through the world wrt food lol. its GROSS its HORRIFYING if I hear one person eat a shrimp i’m killing everyone in this room. like part of me has to wonder whether that’s intentional and whether they were playing into a very skewed conception of eating/food on purpose (because that conception *also* comes free i think with being preoccupied by Beauty and Emptiness and etc.) or whether it’s just a side effect of employing classic gross-out horror (to varying degrees of effectiveness). much to think about!
