So What Happened?

The notorious Vivian Vandeviere, known for burning cities to the ground and leaving massacres in her wake, thought coming to Havensdale Valley was going to be fun. And sure, for a while, it was. Vivian let herself get caught up in the small town feeling, let herself get caught up in feeling, truth be told. She should have known better.

When Vivian was asked to prom of all things by Scott Smith, she accepted. It was sweet, you know? Nostalgic. It spoke to another life, another time. It was possibility and hope. She never should have let him string her along or dance with her that night. Little did Vivian know (until it was too late), Scott had been recruited by the Institute for a very special mission: the capture of their ‘most wanted’ vampire.

Vivian’s humanity got the better of her for the briefest of moments. She almost had a feeling... And then, in that moment of fleeting vulnerability, they got her. The Institute captured Vivian before the dome came down and dumped her in the deepest, darkest, most top secret cage that they had. While the rest of the world was on fire, while the rest of the Institutes fell, Vivian remained caged deep underground in the Mojave Desert.

It gave her a lot of time to think. To make a list of every damn person involved and how she was going to tear them apart limb from limb. There was a brief, frustrating moment where she forgot Havensdale as the dome came down, but apparently Engel thought it would be funny to let her stew in rage and returned her memories. The only other person she really spoke with was in the neighbouring cell-- a lost little girl who made her heart ache for the daughter she once had. Little did she know, that little girl was Grayson Lambert in shifter disguise. This would be important for later.

So yeah, things were not looking good. The days, months, years (it could have been centuries for all she knew) dragged on. It was obvious something bad had happened at the Institute on a global scale, but this damned place was still manned. The cages were still locked. Then one night... the alarms blared and the cages opened. The last person that Vivian ever expected to see come to her rescue was Ruby McReid (now a vampire!?) and what’s more, she was with her sister, Verity Vandeviere.

There was hardly time to argue, but Vivian made sure to rescue her little friend (Grayson in disguise!) as they fled the crumbling hellhole. The moment they were back in the sun, Ruby McReid turned on her. She just saved her life, but made it clear that if they ever crossed paths again, Ruby would kill her. Ha!

Vivian didn’t care though. No, Vivian didn’t care about anything except her revenge. She was going to make it rain blood in Havensdale Valley. She was going to rip Scott Smith’s heart out and crush it in front of him. They all have to be destroyed, everyone who was in on the plan to kidnap her. Vivian would not be stopped-- Verity couldn’t talk her out of it. Vivian only craved her revenge.

Furiously biding her time until the dome comes down. She is seething, she is enraged, she is embarrassed!!

if you're still doing the Paper Mario sketch requests, I think it would be fun to see Vivian interacting with Luigi (and maybe even his dog, the Polterpup)

I am SO sorry for the delay!! I thought I would be able to get back to these quickly but I got busy and also may have caught some art block. I think I'm better now.

I know Luigi not getting respect is a running gag of Paper Mario, but I always felt like Mario and his partners falling asleep during Luigi's storytime was out of character. I think Vivian in particular would take interest in Luigi, and Luigi would get along well with her too (despite her ghost-like ability to hide in shadows). Adding Polterpup to this was fun! I think Vivian would love him, but they'd sometimes give Luigi a scare.

The lighter sketch in the top right is basically an abridged version of a small comic I roughly sketched out for this, but I scrapped it because it didn't really make sense and I suddenly forgot how to draw Luigi. The sketch in the bottom left came from me wanting to fill in the space, then realizing I never explored the fact they both have siblings, but have a very different relationship with them.

Thanks to everyone for being patient with me! I will begin work on the next one tomorrow, I hope I can finish them much sooner!

Hugo's sycthe doubles as a gun (with mercury filled bullets maybe?) and he also carries a silver dagger and Vivian carries an impaling parasol with a hidden silver sword inside the hilt

And then Rina carries stakes (which I think also double as magnets that help her fly with electromagnetism, very cool!)

You kill werewolves with silver and kill vampires with stakes...you can also kill werewolves by beheading them or stabbing them in the heart too--(*looks at Hugo's stupid big sycthe and Vivian's 2 impaling weapons*) so as u can see, they are so ready to fight 😌🙏✨️

it is funny though how kids' shows are so so so careful about death, no one's ever killed except MAYYYYBE the big bad, all those random side characters are fine, here have a quick shot of them before we leave just so you know they really did survive that 50-foot drop into a stormy sea,

and meanwhile kids' books nearly all agree that it's not an adventure until it has a body count.
