“Is it a god?” I ask.  “Who decides what was meant to happen?”

“I don’t know,” answers Bayan.  “And I don’t need to know.  I just need to know that the big things, in the grand scheme of things, are right.  And if they don’t feel right, then they are a step on the path towards the right.”

back home, on the beach, and all to find aber’s sister again. well, they’ve found her, and it’s not quite what they’ve expected. the world is upside down and backwards and the only way to make sense of it is to find the people who make sense of you.

GENRE: dystopia, but otherwise realistic fiction

WARNINGS: swearing, (mentions of) suicide, smoking, sex

INSPIRATION: the chemical garden trilogy by lauren distefano (fever / wither / sever); also pretty much every other dystopia i’ve ever read

CHARACTERS:

ABER -- he has spent all this time trying to get away from his wife and back to his sister.  but now that they are here and he has to choose, the choice is harder than he thought. 

AVA -- she’s a miracle.  she’s a brat.  she’s the most important person in the world.  she has no idea what she’s doing.  she’s losing her mind.  she is going to save them all or die trying.  again.  

NUA -- he got away.  he went back.  he must be out of his mind.

ABIGALA -- what has she been doing for the past year?  isn’t that the million-dollar question.  

PENNY -- family reunions are never fun, per se.  especially not this one.

BAYAN -- everything happens the way it was meant to happen.  but why was this meant to happen?  

LILLY -- everything comes down to her.

the last thing i wrote was from chapter 1 of give and take part 3 omg.  even though i haven’t finished editing part 2 yet.  someone help.  anyway here it is, a classic ava moment 

“Oh, that’s not fucking happening,” says Ava with a snort.  “Go inside, go go go.”
