We're so excited to publish our latest article: @aba-daba-dooo on teaching fic writing to middle schoolers!

Fanfiction does something that my traditional English classes cannot. It teaches students about our role in the creation of media, culture, and history. It invites students not just to analyze the role of a text, but to partake in its deconstruction and recreation on their own terms. It places the power in the hands of the student. After all, what English class asks you to transform a text into something you want to read?

An English teacher might show an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, or a science teacher might make a reference to Jurassic Park during a lesson on DNA. But pop culture is simply a tool in a lot of classrooms, not a subject—and the roles of fans as consumers, creators, and critics are rarely discussed in these contexts. The concept of media fandom is not necessarily understood by teachers; being a fan is mostly viewed as a phase that teens go through, which unfortunately creates the stigma that fandom, like anything associated with teenagers, isn’t worthy of study.

Hey there,

I can get you some tea about the Montreal market. Note that there's not so much due to the fact that they always have the media on their asses.

Nick Suzuki is the most loyal man, beyond any doubt. He recently got engaged to his high-school sweetheart, and they look very cute together. I've never heard anything bad about him.

Arber has had the same girlfriend since high school too. However, I've heard rumors about his infidelity, but there's never been any proof. They're still together.

Cole. Cole has had a tough year. On several occasions he was seen in Montreal bars quite intoxicated. He was on and off with his ex-girlfriend Abby for a few years, but that's definitely over. I've heard through mutuals that he doesn't treat women very well. His attitude sucked this season and it showed on the ice.

Kirby left his ex Jordan last year, it was a pretty toxic relationship between them. He seems to have a new girl in his life; there's a photo circulating of them at the airport for F1 this weekend.

Juraj lives his life as a bachelor, at least according to the latest news!
