Two more watch straps made. The one on the right was my first attempt at a tapered watch strap. And as soon as I'd finished it I realised something wasn't quite right. The second one is on the left. A slightly different style. Raised and lined with the flesh side of the leather rather than having the grain on both sides. Two thinner fixed keepers and slightly longer on the taper. I may still change it again as I think it could be better. I may even get some proper watch strap buckles and some different leather for the lining. If anyone has any recommendations or ideas I will be most grateful. Both are handmade using Sedgwick English Bridle Leather and stitched by hand. Stitching in a beautiful Swelled Front West End buckle from Abbey England. This buckle is cast at their foundry from solid brass then Nickel plated in house. A truly British made product. Here I am attaching it to some lovely Oak bark tanned leather, in London Tan colour. The handmade leather Cavesson dog collar from Oakside Saddlery. Made from the finest English Bridle Leather from JE Sedgwick and made entirely by hand in Great Britain. The lining is a jade green pull up leather that softens the inside and contrasts nicely with the leather dog collar. Solid brass fittings from Abbey England set this leather dog collar off. Did you guess correctly? This is a custom made saddle bag for a penny farthing. It took some working out on how to best do the round ends to the leather, but I think that it looks good in the end. Handmade and hand stitched using Sedgwick English Bridle leather and Abbey England brass fittings. A first for me as I don't usually make bags but I did actually enjoy making this one. I may have to make some more bags soon. Hopefully once the lockdown is over I can get some shots of it in use.
