STEP 3: Look back on tasks that we have created previously for tutorials on the thing you are creating unless you have whatever it is you are doing mastered - then of course feel free to just get on and do it. :)
STEP 4: Upload and tag with #TASKSWEEKLY! If you didn’t use your own screencaps/images make sure to credit where you got them from as we will not reblog packs which do not credit caps or original gifs from the original maker.
THINGS YOU CAN MAKE FOR THIS TASK -  examples are linked!
Stumped for ideas? Maybe make a masterlist or graphic of your favourite faceclaims. A masterlist of names. Plot ideas or screencaps from a music video preformed by an artist. Masterlist of quotes and lyrics that can be used for starters, thread titles or tags. Guides on culture and customs.

FOM BLOG: WYCOMBE WANDERERS 2-0 GILLINGHAM - 2021 / 2022 SEASON
Tumblr media
My Thoughts On Wycombe Wanderers 2-0 Gillingham 2021 / 2022 Season
Gillingham have lost 2-0 for the third successive match in a row having lost 2-0 against Wigan Athletic In League One and 2-0 against Ipswich Town In The Football League Trophy, and three defeats in a row, six goals conceded and zero goals scored has been a dreadful week for Gillingham, and alright, you can make the case that Gillingham have played against two top sides in League One in Wigan Athletic and Wycombe Wanderers, And Ipswich Town’s depth and quality of there first team squad will see Ipswich Town start to head in the right direction, But are Gillingham and Steve Evans going to go into every league match this season talking about the budget and finances that Wycombe Wanderers, Wigan Athletic, Ipswich Town, Oxford United, Charlton Athletic, and MK Dons can spend on players and how Gillingham are going to be up against it ??? - Because Sunderland, Doncaster Rovers and Bolton Wanderers are Gillingham’s next three league matches in League One, and all three teams have the financial capabilities of out-spending Gillingham in League One.
And looking at how Gillingham Lined Up Against Wycombe Wanderers On Saturday, Gillingham Lined Up As Follows…… Jamie Cumming, Robbie McKenzie, Max Ehmer, Jack Tucker, David Tutonda, Daniel Adshead, Kyle Dempsey, Alex MacDonald, Danny Lloyd, Vadaine Oliver, John Akinde, Substitutes: Aaron Chapman (GK), Rhys Bennett, Stuart O’Keefe, Ben Reeves, Olly Lee, Charlie Kelman and Gerald Sithole - Now we were not sure if Gillingham were lining up with A Flat 4-4-2 Formation, Or, Gillingham had named a diamond midfield formation, But either scenario see’s John Akinde start alongside Vadaine Oliver in attack, And I think Gillingham need to line up with two strikers in attack, Because Vadaine Oliver needs someone alongside him up-front, regardless if it is John Akinde, Charlie Kelman, Danny Lloyd, Gerald Sithole or Mustapha Carayol, Gillingham need two strikers to go up against the two or three centre back’s lining up for Wycombe Wanderers, And it does appear that Wycombe Wanderers are lining up with a back four as well.
Travel wise, we did have problems on Rochester Bridge which added a good twenty five minutes of additional travel time on to our journey, and we did arrive outside of Adams Park at 2PM, Which gave us plenty of time to buy a match-day programme, queue up to get into the back of the away end, queue for A 500ML Bottle Of Coca Cola, before taking my position towards the back of the away end at Adams Park, But a few of us on The Coach, thought that The Kings Ferry Coach should have left thirty minutes earlier, especially as that one road in and out of Adams Park is always packed on a match-day.
But whilst there wasn’t too many traffic problems getting to Adams Park (which was a relief it has to be said) the problems on the pitch were there for all to see, Because just ten minutes into the match, Gillingham were two nil down against Wycombe Wanderers, and for the first goal, Goalkeeper David Stockdale kicks the ball long down-field and Sam Vokes wins the aerial challenge up against Max Ehmer to header the ball on towards Gareth McCleary, And Gareth McCleary gets the ball under control, nutmegs Jack Tucker, and alright, the ball does deflect fortuitously back into Gareth McCleary’s Path, But Gareth McCleary gets the ball under control before smashing the ball into the back of the net to give Wycombe Wanderers the lead after just two minutes, a very poor goal to concede just seconds after Kyle Dempsey’s shot towards goal is saved by David Stockdale, and both Max Ehmer and Jack Tucker should have done much better defensively up against Sam Vokes and Gareth McCleary. WYCOMBE WANDERERS 1-0 GILLINGHAM.
And less then a minute after conceding, Wycombe Wanderers should have scored for 2-0, Anthony Stewart throws the ball long down the line for Wycombe Wanderers, and Sam Vokes wins the initial aerial challenge and Jason McCarthy plays the ball inside first time to Brandon Hanlan, And Brandon Hanlan’s first time pass through to Jason McCarthy is intercepted by Max Ehmer, But Brandon Hanlan is on to the loose ball, And Brandon Hanlan cuts inside centrally and passes the ball through to Jordan Obita down the right side of Gillingham’s Penalty Area, And Jordan Obita’s shot across the face of goal goes comfortably wide of the far post, and the ball goes out of play for A Gillingham Goal-Kick - But why is Robbie McKenzie all alone double marking Jordan Obita and Gareth McCleary though ???
So it comes to little surprise to see Wycombe Wanderers double there lead after seven minutes, David Stockdale kicks the ball long down-field for Wycombe Wanderers and Jack Tucker gets the ball partially clear and away from goal, and Kyle Dempsey kicks the ball long down-field, and Anthony Stewart gets the ball under control, And Anthony Stewart tries to pick out Gareth McCleary with a diagonal cross-field cross pass, But Kyle Dempsey does brilliantly to get the ball under control before taking another touch to control the ball and pass the ball back to Robbie McKenzie, And Robbie McKenzie kicks the ball long down-field and Joe Jacobson gets to the loose ball ahead of Danny Lloyd, And Joe Jacobson runs wide in possession of the ball towards the byline down the dugout side of the pitch, And Joe Jacobson runs forwards in possession of the ball before passing the ball down the line towards Jordan Obita, And Jordan Obita plays a short pass back towards Gareth McCleary, And Gareth McCleary goes past Robbie McKenzie before passing the ball centrally towards Curtis Thompson roughly twenty five yards from goal, And Curtis Thompson takes a touch to control the ball before seeing his shot towards goal deflect off Brandon Hanlan, and the ball ricochets off Sam Vokes back into Brandon Hanlan’s path, And Brandon Hanlan sticks the ball into the back of the net from close range, and there is nothing that Jamie Cumming can do about that, and Wycombe Wanderers are already winning 2-0 after just seven minutes of the match played - WYCOMBE WANDERERS 2-0 GILLINGHAM
There isn’t much that Gillingham can do about the double deflection, and when the ricochet goes in your favour like that, then the luck is with you, however, Wycombe Wanderers have made there own luck with Curtis Thompson willing to take the shot off on goal and both Sam Vokes and Brandon Hanlan are both there inside the penalty area ready and waiting for any re-bound that comes there way, And with Gillingham already losing 2-0 after seven minutes, and you can certainly make the case that Gillingham should be losing 3-0 already, Wycombe Wanderers could thump Gillingham 5-0 / 6-0 at Adams Park with considerable ease from what we have seen inside the first ten minutes at Adams Park.
Brandon Hanlan didn’t really celebrate scoring against Gillingham, And I would say that anger and frustration from Gillingham Supporters aimed towards Brandon Hanlan is how he left Gillingham Football Club and the manner of his departure, rather then the departure itself, And I look at this Gillingham Side right now and our attacking options would be better off with Brandon Hanlan available because Hanlan could run in behind, and he was a constant nuisance for opposition defenders to deal with, And I think Brandon Hanlan will improve as a striker at Wycombe Wanderers because he is training with Sam Vokes, Adebayo Akinfenwa, and Sullay Kaikai every-day, and training and playing with better players, will also see Brandon Hanlan improve as well.
And when the match resumed from the kick off, Gillingham had half a chance of earning themselves a penalty kick, David Tutonda passes the ball back to Jack Tucker down The Main Stand Side Of The Pitch, And Jack Tucker has managed to pick out Kyle Dempsey with a long pass down-field, And Kyle Dempsey gets the ball under control before playing a short pass out-wide to Danny Lloyd, And Danny Lloyd gets the ball under control before looking to take on Jordan Obita, And Danny Lloyd continue’s his run inside Wycombe Wanderers Penalty Area, And Danny Lloyd cuts inside to evade Jordan Obita’s Challenge, And Danny Lloyd’s shot towards goal is blocked by Jason McCarthy, and the loose ball ricochets towards John Akinde, and Ryan Tafazolli clip’s John Akinde inside the penalty area before Anthony Stewart kick the ball out of play for A Gillingham Throw On - I have to say that I did wonder if that was a penalty for Gillingham at the time, But because the away end is down the opposite end of the pitch, we didn’t have the clearest of views of the incident in question at the time.
And In The Twelfth Minute Of The Match, Gillingham had a chance to try and half the deficit, Jack Tucker has possession of the ball for Gillingham In Gillingham’s Half Of The Pitch, And Jack Tucker kicks the ball long down-field and Vadaine Oliver wins the aerial challenge up against Anthony Stewart to flick the ball on towards John Akinde, And John Akinde has got his body between the ball and Ryan Tafazolli, And John Akinde acrobatic effort towards goal fails to hit the target, and the ball has gone out of play for A Wycombe Wanderers Goal-Kick - It’s an goal-scoring opportunity for Gillingham to build on - But with Wycombe Wanderers winning 2-0 so early on in this match, Gillingham have a mountain to climb to try and get themselves back on to level terms at the very least.
Fourteen Minutes Into The Match, And Max Ehmer is penalised for a foul on Brandon Hanlan, and from the resulting free kick, Wycombe Wanderers had the chance to go 3-0 up, Joe Jacobson passes the ball down the left side of the pitch to where Gareth McCleary is situated, And Gareth McCleary takes a touch to control the ball before taking on Danny Lloyd, And Gareth McCleary clips in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Sam Vokes glancing header goes just wide of the far post, and the ball has gone out of play for A Gillingham Goal-Kick.
And from the resulting goal-kick, Jamie Cumming kicks the ball long down-field and John Akinde wins the aerial challenge to flick the ball on towards Danny Lloyd, And Danny Lloyd gets the ball under control and runs in possession of the ball in a central area of the pitch right on the edge of Wycombe Wanderers Penalty Area, And Jordan Obita is penalised for a mis-timed challenge on Danny Lloyd, And Gillingham have been awarded a free kick in a very promising position on the pitch, and if Gillingham were to get themselves back into the match at 2-1 down from this free kick, then it is game on again, and from the resulting free kick, Kyle Dempsey’s low effort towards goal is blocked by The Wycombe Wanderers Wall, And Alex MacDonald is first to get to the loose ball, And Alex MacDonald whips in a high and hanging cross first time and John Akinde’s looping header fails to hit the target - And Gillingham are growing into this match - But it’s the poor start to the game and Wycombe Wanderers going 2-0 up which gives Gillingham such a difficult challenge to try and get back into this game, next goal is absolutely crucial.
Twenty Five Minutes Into The Match, And Gillingham have a throw on down the main stand side of the pitch, and from the resulting throw on, David Tutonda throws the ball short to Alex MacDonald, And Alex MacDonald passes the ball back to David Tutonda, And David Tutonda passes the ball back to Jack Tucker, who takes a touch to control the ball, And Jack Tucker kicks the ball long down-field and John Akinde wins the first aerial challenge, And the ball bounces high off the turf and neither Joe Jacobson or Curtis Thompson can get the ball under control and John Akinde headers the ball down towards Danny Lloyd inside Wycombe Wanderers Penalty Area, And Danny Lloyd gets the faintest of contacts on the ball to divert the ball into Kyle Dempsey’s Path, And Josh Scowen clips Kyle Dempsey inside Wycombe Wanderers Penalty Area, And Referee Kevin Friend points to the penalty spot - at the time, I thought that Kyle Dempsey was fouled on the edge of the penalty area - but the highlights clearly show that Kyle Dempsey was fouled inside the penalty area, and this is a massive moment for Gillingham to try and get themselves back into the match.
There was a four minute delay because Josh Scowen was down receiving treatment, And Charlie and myself were speaking about this lengthy delay and the amount of thinking time that Vadaine Oliver has inside his head regarding which way to strike the penalty, hit the target, and if David Stockdale makes the save, then unfortunately that’s life of a penalty taker, But this is a big big moment for Gillingham to half the deficit and get themselves back into this match, and from the resulting penalty kick, Vadaine Oliver has fired the ball high and over the crossbar with David Stockdale diving low to his left, And Wycombe Wanderers Supporters celebrate, whilst Gillingham Supporters have there heads in there hands, and both sets of supporters knew just how big of a turning point this moment in the match was for both clubs, for Gillingham, 2-1 gets The Gills back into this match and we’re in the ascendancy, For Wycombe Wanderers, maintaining there 2-0 lead puts Wycombe Wanderers in a stronger position to pick up all three points from this League One Fixture At Adams Park.
Thirty One Minutes Into The Match, And Vadaine Oliver is penalised for a foul on Josh Scowen down the main stand side of the pitch, and from the resulting free kick, Joe Jacobson kicks the ball long down-field towards the edge of Gillingham’s Penalty Area, And Sam Vokes wins the aerial challenge to flick the ball on towards Brandon Hanlan, And David Tutonda at full stretch pokes the ball out of play for A Wycombe Wanderers Corner Kick, And From The Resulting Corner Kick, Wycombe Wanderers should have gone 3-0 up, Joe Jacobson whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross towards the near post and Jason McCarthy’s header is flicked on towards the far post and the ball has gone out of play for another Wycombe Wanderers Corner Kick, thankfully, Sam Vokes and Brandon Hanlan could not get on the end of Jason McCarthy’s flicked on header, otherwise the score-line would be 3-0 to Wycombe Wanderers, even so, I was surprised that a corner kick was awarded to Wycombe Wanderers when Jason McCarthy had headed the ball across the face of goal, and from the resulting corner kick, Joe Jacobson whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Robbie McKenzie headers the ball clear and away from goal and Josh Scowen eventually gets the ball under control by the byline, and one pass from Josh Scowen through to Joe Jacobson just completely see’s Daniel Adshead and Vadaine Oliver taken out of play, Because Joe Jacobson has possession of the ball down the left flank in Gillingham’s Final Third, And Joe Jacobson manages to keep the ball in play before whipping in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Ryan Tafazolli headers the ball down towards Sam Vokes inside Gillingham’s Penalty Area and Sam Vokes has struck a fiercely driven effort towards goal which comfortably clears Gillingham’s Crossbar, And Wycombe Wanderers really should have extended the score-line to 3-0 with that effort on goal.
It’s just too easy for Wycombe Wanderers at the moment, One pass from Josh Scowen to Joe Jacobson takes Daniel Adshead and Vadaine Oliver out of play, Joe Jacobson’s cross see’s Ryan Tafazolli header the ball down towards Sam Vokes, and really, Sam Vokes should score for Wycombe Wanderers, 3-0 would put this result beyond all doubt, and the way Wycombe Wanderers have started this match, and with the players that Wycombe Wanderers have got out there on the pitch, this could easily be a 5-0 win for Wycombe Wanderers, and that’s what is concerning a few Gillingham Supporters in the away end at Adams Park, because from what we have seen in this match so far, Wycombe Wanderers look like they can extend the score-line further in there favour with more efforts on goal.
And from the resulting goal-kick, Gillingham create a half decent opportunity with Jamie Cumming kicking the ball long down-field and John Akinde does really well to get the ball under control before passing the ball through to Kyle Dempsey down the right side of the pitch in Wycombe Wanderers Final Third, And Kyle Dempsey whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Ryan Tafazolli was in the right place at the right time to header the ball behind at the expense of conceding a corner kick, and from the resulting corner kick, Gillingham had the chance to half the deficit, Danny Lloyd whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Ryan Tafazolli headers the ball partially clear and away from goal and Curtis Thompson cannot get the ball under control and this allows Danny Lloyd to nip in there to intercept the ball, And Danny Lloyd fires a low fiercely driven shot towards goal which had to be saved by David Stockdale, something for Gillingham to build on, But it’s just a shame that Vadaine Oliver didn’t score that penalty, Because 1-2 down, and Gillingham would be right back in this match, 2-0 just gives Wycombe Wanderers that much needed breathing space.
Thirty Six Minutes Into The Match, And Vadaine Oliver is booked for winning a aerial challenge up against Josh Scowen, So Vadaine Oliver has been booked for heading the ball, And I have had a look at Vadaine Oliver’s stats for booking’s this season, that booking was Vadaine Oliver’s third booking of the season, if that yellow card leads to Vadaine Oliver being suspended for Gillingham V Sunderland, we would be fuming with that decision, And had Vadaine Oliver been suspended, his suspension would apply for The Sunderland Game, and not The Kent Senior Cup Tie against Whitstable Town On Tuesday Night.
Curtis Thompson is penalised for a foul on Daniel Adshead In Gillingham’s Defensive Final Third In The Thirty Eighth Minute Of The Match, And From The Resulting Free Kick, Gillingham had the chance to half the deficit, Jamie Cumming kicks the ball long down-field and John Akinde wins the aerial challenge to header the ball on towards Danny Lloyd, who manages to retain possession of the ball, And Danny Lloyd plays a short pass out-wide to Kyle Dempsey, And Kyle Dempsey waits for passing options before playing a short pass square to Danny Lloyd, And Danny Lloyd is being forced away from goal by Jordan Obita, And Danny Lloyd plays a short pass out-wide to Daniel Adshead And Daniel Adshead kicks the ball long down the line and Robbie McKenzie manages to retain possession of the ball before being challenged by Brandon Hanlan, But Danny Lloyd gets to the loose ball, and Danny Lloyd plays a short pass back to Kyle Dempsey, And Kyle Dempsey turns back on himself and plays a short pass back to Daniel Adshead, who plays a first time pass out-wide to Danny Lloyd, And Danny Lloyd is twisting and turning and manages to take on Josh Scowen, And Danny Lloyd has fired in a low cross across Wycombe Wanderers Penalty Area, And Alex MacDonald’s first time shot towards goal is brilliantly saved by David Stockdale and Anthony Stewart and Joe Jacobson are both there to prevent Vadaine Oliver from getting to the re-bound, And I think Joe Jacobson has done just about enough to prevent Vadaine Oliver from getting to the re-bound and clear the ball out of play for A Gillingham Corner Kick.
BUT THAT WAS THE CHANCE FOR GILLINGHAM TO SCORE FOR 1-2 DOWN!!!!! - I think if Alex MacDonald had generated more power in that shot then I don’t think David Stockdale makes the save in goal for Wycombe Wanderers, And if you look at the second goal for Wycombe Wanderers, Curtis Thompson’s shot towards goal takes a double deflection and Brandon Hanlan scores from close range, for Alex MacDonald’s shot towards goal, David Stockdale makes the save but Anthony Stewart and Joe Jacobson between the two of them do enough to clear the ball out of play for A Gillingham Corner Kick, Unfortunately, from the resulting corner kick, Kyle Dempsey whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross towards the far post and Joe Jacobson headers the ball away from goal and there is a coming together between Jack Tucker and Joe Jacobson and Anthony Stewart looks to run forwards in possession of the ball, but Daniel Adshead times his sliding challenge to perfection to knock the ball out of play for A Wycombe Wanderers Throw On.
Forty Minutes Into The Match, And Wycombe Wanderers almost go 3-0 up in fortuitous circumstances, Jack Tucker’s long ball down-field almost runs through to Vadaine Oliver, But David Stockdale is outside his penalty area and manages to kick the ball long down-field and Garath McCleary manages to header the ball out-wide towards Jason McCarthy, And Jason McCarthy whips in a dangerous low cross and Jamie Cumming almost spills that low cross into the back of his own net before managing to gather the loose ball close to the goal-line, That’s not good goalkeeping from Jamie Cumming and we have seen much better goalkeeping then that from The Young Chelsea Loanee.
Gillingham have a throw on in Wycombe Wanderers Half Of The Pitch, And from the resulting throw on, Gillingham had the chance to half the deficit, Robbie McKenzie throws the ball long down the line and John Akinde gets the ball under control before being double marked by Joe Jacobson and Jordan Obita, And John Akinde plays a short pass square to Danny Lloyd inside Wycombe Wanderers Penalty Area, and Danny Lloyd takes a few touches in possession of the ball before firing an effort towards goal from the edge of the penalty area over Wycombe Wanderers Crossbar, I just thought that Danny Lloyd took too long to get a shot off on goal and Alex MacDonald was in a decent position to be passed the ball to.
And the final noteworthy moment of the first half see’s Wycombe Wanderers pushing for a vital third goal before half time, Jordan Obita throws the ball down the line towards Gareth McCleary, And Gareth McCleary is being double marked by Robbie McKenzie and Danny Lloyd, And Gareth McCleary back-heals the ball through to Jordan Obita, And Jordan Obita see’s his cross blocked by Daniel Adshead into the path of Alex MacDonald, And Alex MacDonald boots the ball clear and away from goal.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
HALF TIME: WYCOMBE WANDERERS 2-0 GILLINGHAM
Considering the fact that Wycombe Wanderers have scored twice, There was a four minute delay because Josh Scowen was down receiving treatment prior to the penalty, Vadaine Oliver’s penalty kick, and some of the stoppages for free kicks and throw on’s, Gillingham only playing four minutes of first half stoppage time when we were expecting eight or nine minutes to be added on is a bit surprising to say the least.
But the big talking point amongst Gillingham Supporters in the away end was Vadaine Oliver not scoring that penalty, Because at 2-1, Gillingham would still be in with a chance of getting a result against Wycombe Wanderers, And you have to say that out of the two goalkeepers, David Stockdale has been the busier goalkeeper saving efforts on goal from Danny Lloyd, Kyle Dempsey and Alex MacDonald, But it is that poor start in the first ten minutes which has really cost Gillingham, Brandon Hanlan and Gareth McCleary have scored, and Jordan Obita’s shot across the face of goal goes wide, and that chance came prior to Brandon Hanlan scoring, Sam Vokes should have scored for Wycombe Wanderers, and the hosts have had there chances to extend the score-line further in there favour in the first half.
And the second half is just a matter of Gillingham going for it from the get go, Gillingham are going to have to over-commit players forwards to try and score two goals and battle back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2, But the problem with throwing additional players forwards means that Gillingham are susceptible to the counter attack, And Jordan Obita, Brandon Hanlan and Gareth McCleary have all got the pace to cause Gillingham problems, And Sam Vokes is a quality striker, if Vokes gets another chance to score then he will score for Wycombe Wanderers.
But the bigger problem that Gillingham have got is this, And Ben, Charlie and Myself spoke about this at half time, If results continue in this manner, and if Gillingham look like they are going to be involved in A League One Relegation Battle This Season, and combine that with no finances to sign several reinforcements in January, Then Steve Evans will walkaway from Gillingham Football Club and the likelihood is Steve Evans will walk in December, Because Steve Evans has been speaking about his future at Gillingham on a number of occasions both last season and this season, and if / when Steve Evans leaves, your not going to see a proven lower league manager appointed as his replacement, we are probably looking at Former Gillingham Players Like Steve Lovell and Neil Smith being appointed at Gillingham, or, we will appoint a first time managerial appointment, and then your looking at a situation where a inexperienced or young manager is thrown into A League One Relegation Battle halfway through the season.
The next goal in this match is huge for both teams, If Wycombe Wanderers score, then 3-0 is essentially game over and Wycombe Wanderers have won, 2-1, And Gillingham are back in this match and the match swings in Gillingham’s Favour and that goal gives Gillingham hope that we can get something out of the match, hopefully, it is the latter over the former - COME ON THE GILLS!!!!!!!!!!!

SECOND HALF:
Steve Evans does make a change at half time with Stuart O’Keefe coming on for Daniel Adshead, Hopefully, Stuart O’Keefe can make an impact for Gillingham in the second half, but with the score-line at 2-0 for Wycombe Wanderers, It’s going to be very difficult to make any sort of impact with Gillingham essentially chasing the game for the second forty five.
Forty Seven Minutes Into The Match, And Robbie McKenzie hurls in a long dangerous throw and Anthony Stewart headers the ball clear and out of play for another Gillingham Throw On, And From The Resulting Throw, Robbie McKenzie hurls in another dangerous long throw and John Akinde’s glancing header is saved by David Stockdale In The Wycombe Wanderers Goal, Something for Gillingham to build on after a encouraging start to the second half.
Fifty One Minutes Into The Match, And Gillingham have a throw on down the main stand side of the pitch, and from the resulting throw on, Robbie McKenzie hurls in a long dangerous throw and Josh Scowen headers the ball partially clear and away from danger, and although Stuart O’Keefe times his sliding challenge to perfection on Gareth McCleary, Stuart O’Keefe can only divert the ball out of play for A Wycombe Wanderers Goal-Kick.
And In The Fifty Third Minute Of The Match, Gillingham had a half chance to get themselves back into the match at 2-1 down, Gillingham have a throw on right on the halfway line down the main stand side of the pitch, and from the resulting throw on, Robbie McKenzie hurls the ball long down the line and John Akinde manages to retain possession of the ball before turning back on himself and taking on Joe Jacobson, And John Akinde clips a high and hanging cross towards the back-stick and Vadaine Oliver does really well to retain possession of the ball for The Gills, And Vadaine Oliver passes the ball back to Alex MacDonald, And Alex MacDonald takes a touch to control the ball, And Alex MacDonald plays a one / two with David Tutonda, And Alex MacDonald’s pass down the line towards Kyle Dempsey see’s Josh Scowen get to the ball first, And Josh Scowen passes the ball down the line and Brandon Hanlan manages to retain possession of the ball despite being double marked by David Tutonda and Kyle Dempsey, And Brandon Hanlan passes the ball back to Josh Scowen, And Josh Scowen passes the ball forwards towards Jason McCarthy, and Jack Tucker takes no chances and kicks the ball into touch at the expense of conceding a throw on.
Curtis Thompson was then penalised for a foul on Kyle Dempsey, and from the resulting free kick, Jack Tucker kicks the ball long down-field, and Josh Scowen wins the initial aerial challenge to header the ball away from goal and Stuart O’Keefe headers the ball out-wide towards Kyle Dempsey, And Kyle Dempsey passes the ball back towards Stuart O’Keefe, And Stuart O’Keefe plays a short pass back to Jack Tucker, And Jack Tucker kicks the ball long down-field and Joe Jacobson headers the ball clear and Josh Scowen runs down the main stand side of the pitch in possession of the ball, And Josh Scowen waits for passing options before passing the ball back to Jordan Obita, And Jordan Obita passes the ball back down the line towards Josh Scowen, who plays a short pass inside to Gareth McCleary, and Gareth McCleary runs down the main stand side of the pitch in possession of the ball before running down towards the byline and Gareth McCleary fires in a low dangerous cross and Brandon Hanlan flicks the ball back towards Curtis Thompson on the edge of Gillingham’s Penalty Area, And Curtis Thompson goes to ground underneath a attempted challenge from John Akinde, And Wycombe Wanderers have been awarded a free kick right on the edge of Gillingham’s Penalty Area, And I am not convinced that was a foul from John Akinde, But Referee Kevin Friend has awarded a free kick for Wycombe Wanderers within shooting territory here, and this is a free kick that Gillingham have got to defend.
And from the resulting free kick, Joe Jacobson’s curling effort towards goal only just about clears Gillingham’s Crossbar, And Jamie Cumming had dived at full stretch as well, 3-0 would have been game over and three points for Wycombe Wanderers, 2-0, still keeps Gillingham in the game, providing that Gillingham can score and score quickly as well, and we’re looking at the options on the bench who can come on for Gillingham, And Gerald Sithole, Charlie Kelman and Olly Lee all provide Gillingham with different attacking options, and with Gillingham losing 2-0, there comes a point where you look to throw extra attacking players on to the pitch to try and cause Wycombe Wanderers more problems defensively.
Sixty Minutes Into The Match, And Kyle Dempsey’s cross is charged down by Curtis Thompson at the expense of conceding a throw for The Gills, and it’s from this throw on where Gillingham almost scored for 2-1 down, Stuart O’Keefe throws the ball down the line towards Danny Lloyd, And Danny Lloyd takes on Josh Scowen and whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross towards John Akinde, And Ryan Tafazolli is in the right place at the right time to header the ball away from goal for Wycombe Wanderers, And Brandon Hanlan is first to get to the second ball, however, Alex MacDonald times his challenge to perfection on Brandon Hanlan, And Alex MacDonald takes a touch to control the ball before striking a fiercely driven shot towards goal which is blocked by Josh Scowen and the ball loops high up into the air and Ryan Tafazolli wins the aerial challenge up against Vadaine Oliver, But Ryan Tafazolli’s header goes back-wards inside Wycombe Wanderers Penalty Area, And Anthony Stewart inadvertently headers the ball over Goalkeeper David Stockdale, who does get the faintest of touches on to the ball and Joe Jacobson has to clear the ball off the line - AND THAT WAS THE CHANCE FOR GILLINGHAM TO SCORE FOR 2-1 DOWN!!!!!!!!!!
Had Anthony Stewart generated more power in that header back to David Stockdale, Then The Wycombe Wanderers Defender would have surely scored an own goal which would have brought Gillingham back into this match, However, In The Sixty Second Minute Of The Match, Wycombe Wanderers had the chance to extend the score-line further to 3-0, Jason McCarthy throws the ball square to Josh Scowen, And Josh Scowen turns and tries to pass the ball through to Brandon Hanlan, But Max Ehmer was in the right place at the right time to partially clear the ball away from danger, but, Josh Scowen is on to the loose ball, And Josh Scowen manages to retain possession of the ball before passing the ball short out-wide to Curtis Thompson down in Gillingham’s Final Third Of The Pitch, And Curtis Thompson whips in a high and hanging cross and Sam Vokes wins the aerial challenge up against Robbie McKenzie to header the ball on target and Jamie Cumming does brilliantly to tip the ball over the crossbar to just about keep Gillingham in this match - FANTASTIC SAVE FROM JAMIE CUMMING !!!!!!!!!
And from the resulting corner kick, Joe Jacobson whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Anthony Stewart, Ryan Tafazolli, John Akinde and Max Ehmer all jump for the ball and the ball bounces off Anthony Stewart towards Brandon Hanlan by the byline, And Brandon Hanlan passes the ball back towards Gareth McCleary, And Gareth McCleary takes a touch to control the ball before whipping in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Jack Tucker headers the ball wide and away from goal, and Anthony Stewart passes the ball back towards Curtis Thompson on the edge of Gillingham’s Penalty Area, And Curtis Thompson is twisting and turning and passes the ball short to Anthony Stewart, And Anthony Stewart looks to take on Max Ehmer, And Anthony Stewart’s shot towards goal is blocked by Max Ehmer, and the ball ricochets off Stuart O’Keefe, And Joe Jacobson is on to the loose ball, And Joe Jacobson seer’s his follow up effort towards goal blocked by Stuart O’Keefe and Danny Lloyd is on to the loose ball and Danny Lloyd looks to run wide in possession of the ball and Joe Jacobson puts in a strong challenge on Danny Lloyd, And Curtis Thompson runs forwards in possession of the ball for Wycombe Wanderers, And Curtis Thompson has the option to play the ball through to Joe Jacobson, But Curtis Thompson shifts the ball quickly before unleashing a fiercely driven effort towards goal which Jamie Cumming can only parry inside the six yard box and Jack Tucker blocks the follow up effort from Sam Vokes, who surely would have scored for 3-0 to Wycombe Wanderers had Jack Tucker not been there to make a vital block, and Jason McCarthy takes two touches to control the ball inside Gillingham’s Penalty Area, And Jason McCarthy’s driven cross is charged down by Jack Tucker at the expense of conceding a corner kick.
And from the resulting corner kick, Joe Jacobson whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Vadaine Oliver headers the ball away from goal and Gareth McCleary headers the ball out-wide towards Joe Jacobson, And Joe Jacobson takes a touch to control the ball before passing the ball back to Gareth McCleary, And Gareth McCleary whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Jack Tucker headers the ball away from goal and Curtis Thompson headers the ball back towards Josh Scowen, who kicks a up and under ball towards the edge of Gillingham’s Penalty Area and Danny Lloyd headers the ball further away from goal and Gareth McCleary kicks a diagonal high and hanging cross-field ball towards Brandon Hanlan, And Robbie McKenzie clatters into the back of Brandon Hanlan to header the ball away from goal, and Josh Scowen plays a short pass square out-wide to Curtis Thompson, And Curtis Thompson takes a touch to control the ball before twisting and turning and passing the ball down the line towards Gareth McCleary, who is twisting and turning before passing the ball towards Curtis Thompson, And Curtis Thompson fires in a dangerous cross which Stuart O’Keefe manages to header away from goal, and Joe Jacobson plays a short pass square to Anthony Stewart, And Anthony Stewart passes the ball out-wide to Jason McCarthy, And Jason McCarthy passes the ball back towards Joe Jacobson, And Joe Jacobson passes the ball back towards Josh Scowen, And Josh Scowen passes the ball back towards Ryan Tafazolli, And Ryan Tafazolli passes the ball back towards Goalkeeper David Stockdale, And David Stockdale kicks the ball long down-field and Brandon Hanlan wins the aerial challenge to flick the ball on, But Jamie Cumming was in the right place to make a comfortable save in goal for Gillingham.
Sixty Nine Minutes Into The Match, And Jordan Obita is penalised for a foul on Danny Lloyd, And Gillingham have been awarded a free kick in a promising position on the pitch, and from the resulting free kick, Danny Lloyd passes the ball short to Kyle Dempsey, and Kyle Dempsey takes a touch to control the ball before looking to take on Brandon Hanlan, And Kyle Dempsey turns back on himself and passes the ball out-wide to Danny Lloyd, And Danny Lloyd takes a touch to control the ball before looking to take on Jason McCarthy, And Danny Lloyd’s cross deflects off Jason McCarthy and the ball deflects off Danny Lloyd and out of play for A Wycombe Wanderers Goal-Kick, and that free kick was a complete wasted goal-scoring opportunity for The Gills.
And from the resulting goal-kick, Wycombe Wanderers had the chance to go 3-0 up, David Stockdale kicks the ball long down-field and Jack Tucker wins the initial aerial challenge and Gareth McCleary is on to the loose ball, and Gareth McCleary’s pass out-wide is intercepted by David Tutonda, And David Tutonda was clearly fouled by Jason McCarthy, but for some reason, play continue’s with Curtis Thompson in possession of the ball, And Curtis Thompson kicks the ball long down-field and into the heart of Gillingham’s Penalty Area, And Jamie Cumming is a long way off his goal-line, And Jamie Cumming can only parry the ball down towards the edge of the penalty area, And Brandon Hanlan’s first time effort towards goal is saved on to the post by Jamie Cumming, And Robbie McKenzie runs away from goal in possession of the ball before passing the ball out-wide to Danny Lloyd, And Danny Lloyd passes the ball inside towards Kyle Dempsey, who is fouled by Curtis Thompson, And Gillingham have been awarded a free kick.
And Gillingham have been forced into there second substitution of the match with Rhys Bennett coming on for David Tutonda, And Me and Charlie were both thinking, why not bring on Charlie Kelman to play alongside Vadaine Oliver and John Akinde and Gillingham just go for it for the final twenty minutes ???, or, play Rhys Bennett up-front, Rhys Bennett is a good defender but he isn’t a full back, and with Ryan Jackson still injured, and this injury for David Tutonda looking very concerning, Gillingham’s limited options at full back is very concerning, But like many other Gillingham Supporters, I looked at the first team squad and knew we needed several reinforcements on Transfer Deadline Day, Because it only takes a few injuries to Ryan Jackson, David Tutonda, Daniel Phillips and Mustapha Carayol, And Gillingham are down to bare bones.
And from the resulting free kick, Kyle Dempsey whips in a diagonal cross-field cross and John Akinde wins the aerial battle to header the ball on towards Jack Tucker, And Jack Tucker’s low cross is routinely saved by David Stockdale, and that’s all that Jack Tucker could have done to prevent the ball from going out of play for A Wycombe Wanderers Goal-Kick, And In The Seventy Sixth Minute Of The Match, Gillingham have a throw on down the main stand side of the pitch, and from the resulting throw on, Danny Lloyd hurls in a long throw which is far too easy for David Stockdale to save, and that is another wasted goal-scoring opportunity for The Gills.
Seventy Seven Minutes Into The Match, And Wycombe Wanderers managed to win themselves a corner kick, Because Jason McCarthy was just allowed to run all the way down the right flank and see’s his cross charged down by Robbie McKenzie at the expense of conceding a corner kick, and that was just so easy for Wycombe Wanderers, and from the resulting corner kick, Joe Jacobson curls in a dangerous in-swinging cross which is comfortably saved by Jamie Cumming in goal for Gillingham.
Eighty Minutes into the match and Stuart O’Keefe manages to pick out Danny Lloyd with a decent pass down the line in Wycombe Wanderers final third, And Danny Lloyd tries to go past Josh Scowen, But Josh Scowen times his challenge to perfection on Danny Lloyd at the expense of conceding a corner kick, and a goal for Gillingham now will give Wycombe Wanderers something to be concerned about, and from the resulting corner kick, Danny Lloyd whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Ryan Tafazolli headers the ball partially clear and away from goal and Alex MacDonald wins the fifty / fifty to pass the ball back to Stuart O’Keefe, Stuart O’Keefe passes the ball back to Robbie McKenzie, And Robbie McKenzie passes the ball back towards Jamie Cumming, And Jamie Cumming takes a touch to control the ball before kicking the ball long down-field and Joe Jacobson wins the aerial battle up against Vadaine Oliver to header the ball out-wide, and Danny Lloyd manages to keep the ball in play before passing the ball back to Kyle Dempsey, And Kyle Dempsey passes the ball forwards towards John Akinde, And John Akinde manages to retain possession of the ball before seeing his pass through to Danny Lloyd blocked by Curtis Thompson at the expense of conceding a throw on, and from the resulting throw, Gillingham had the chance to half the deficit, Robbie McKenzie hurls in a long dangerous throw and Rhys Bennett flicks the ball on and Joe Jacobson gets the ball half clear and away from goal, and Kyle Dempsey passes the ball out-wide to Robbie McKenzie, And Robbie McKenzie whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Anthony Stewart headers the ball away from goal and Kyle Dempsey gets the ball under control, plays a give and go with Danny Lloyd and Kyle Dempsey’s fiercely driven effort towards goal fails to hit the target and the ball goes out of play for A Wycombe Wanderers Goal-Kick.
And once the ball goes out of play, Wycombe Wanderers make a double substitution with Anis Mehmeti and Adebayo Akinfenwa coming on to replace Brandon Hanlan and Sam Vokes, And Wycombe Wanderers are winning 2-0, Gareth Ainsworth can substitute his key players, But Wycombe Wanderers can still bring on a player like Adebayo Akinfenwa, and that’s the squad depth that Wycombe Wanderers have got that Gillingham are lacking, but even so, I am surprised that Charlie Kelman has not come on at some point in this match for The Gills, Is Steve Evans seriously resting Charlie Kelman for The Whitstable Town Kent Senior Cup Tie On Tuesday Night ???
Eighty Five Minutes Into The Match, And Gillingham have a free kick in a promising position on the pitch, and from the resulting free kick, Kyle Dempsey whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross towards the far post and Adebayo Akinfenwa headers the ball clear and out of play for A Gillingham Throw On, And From The Resulting Throw, Robbie McKenzie hurls in a long throw and Adebayo Akinfenwa headers the ball away from goal and Gareth McCleary’s pass is intercepted by Jack Tucker, And Jack Tucker clips the ball down the line and John Akinde manages to keep the ball in play, And John Akinde losses and regained possession of the ball for The Gills and Max Ehmer is on to the loose ball, And Max Ehmer passes the ball inside to John Akinde, who passes the ball square to Danny Lloyd inside Wycombe Wanderers Penalty Area, And Danny Lloyd is challenged by Joe Jacobson, and the ball falls kindly back to John Akinde, who’s shot towards goal is saved by David Stockdale, any penalty appeals for Gillingham will be waved away because John Akinde’s shot on target was saved.
Wycombe Wanderers make there third and final substitution with David Wheeler coming on for Curtis Thompson, And still we’re wondering why Charlie Kelman or Gerald Sithole have not come on, And Steve Evans mentions how limited Gillingham’s options are in the first team squad, but we don’t use all of our available substitutions, And I am surprised that we have not put an additional striker on to try and cause Wycombe Wanderers more problems defensively.
Eighty Nine Minutes Into The Match, And Wycombe Wanderers had the chance to go 3-0 up and make absolutely certain that there is no way back into the match for The Gills, Anis Mehmeti wins the fifty / fifty challenge against Kyle Dempsey on the halfway line, And Anis Mehmeti plays a one / two with Adebayo Akinfenwa before going past Max Ehmer and running forwards in possession of the ball, And Anis Mehmeti’s attempted through-ball through to Gareth McCleary is blocked by Rhys Bennett and Jack Tucker clears the ball out of play for A Wycombe Wanderers Throw.
And the final noteworthy moment of the match happens in the fourth minute of stoppage time and  Joe Jacobson is penalised for a foul on Danny Lloyd, And Gillingham have been awarded a free kick in a promising position on the pitch, and from the resulting free kick, Kyle Dempsey whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Rhys Bennett’s header towards goal goes wide of the far left post, and after four additional minutes of added time, Referee Kevin Friend blows the whistle for full time, and the full time score at Adams Park Is Wycombe Wanderers 2-0 Gillingham.
Tumblr media
FULL TIME: WYCOMBE WANDERERS 2-0 GILLINGHAM
I uploaded the following status update on to Social Media after full time,,,,,, FULL TIME: WYCOMBE WANDERERS 2-0 GILLINGHAM - Goals From McCleary and Hanlan in the first ten minutes of the match put Wycombe 2-0 up and gave Gillingham a uphill battle early on in the game, Oliver needed to score that penalty to bring Gillingham back into the match at 2-1 down. Stockdale made a great save to prevent Alex MacDonald from scoring before half time, At the start of the second half, Akinde's header towards goal from McKenzie's Long Throw was saved by Stockdale, Jacobsen's free kick just clears Gillingham's crossbar. Cumming made a great save to tip Obita's header over the crossbar, Cumming also parries Thompson's shot towards goal and Tucker reacts quickest to clear the ball out of play for A Wycombe Wanderers Corner Kick.
Cumming also prevented Hanlan from scoring A Third Goal For Wycombe by tipping his shot on to the post, Bennett came close to scoring a consolation goal, but he headed Dempsey's Cross Wide of the far post in stoppage time. Gillingham have lost 2-0 for the third successive match, I am surprised that Kelman has not come on as sub for Gillingham with at least thirty minutes to go, And I can see QPR calling Kelman back and playing matches for QPR U23's, Kelman should be at least coming on as a sub for Gillingham, Looks like Kelman starts on Tuesday For Gills.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
Looking at the last two matches against Ipswich Town and Wycombe Wanderers, Regardless if it has been Kayden Jackson, Brandon Hanlan or Jordan Obita, Gillingham just cannot cope going up against teams who have got players with pace, And our lack of pace means long balls to Oliver, The only players not involved in the first team squad today was Jackson, Phillips and Carayol and all three are unavailable because of injury, Now Tutonda has had to be substituted because of injury, And Whilst I thought Kelman should have come on for Gillingham Today (continued), Your looking at who can come on and change the match into Gillingham's Favour, And Gillingham don't have a player like List, McGlashan or Weston, Players who can come on and make an impact by taking on tiring defenders, Lee and Reeves are good players, But there not game changers.
Looking at the three 2-0 defeats against Wigan Athletic, Ipswich Town and Wycombe Wanderers, And with Gillingham playing Sunderland, Doncaster Rovers and Bolton Wanderers in our next three League One Fixtures, If Gillingham continue to not win matches and we are firmly involved in A League One Relegation Battle, Then Steve Evans will walkaway from Gillingham Football Club, Steve Evans has already hinted about his managerial future at Gillingham Football Club Last Season, and his post match comments after losing against Cheltenham Town In The League Cup are accurate statements from Steve Evans, who clearly stated that Gillingham is not a project he wants to be involved in if we have to play with no strikers up-front, and I don’t think Gillingham did enough business on Transfer Deadline Day Either, If we’re waiting for The January Transfer Window to open to sign players, Gillingham could be cut adrift at the bottom on League One.
But whilst there is a limited budget to sign players, and it is frustrating to see Gillingham down to bare bones every single week, Steve Evans is at fault for not bringing on Charlie Kelman, why didn’t Kelman come on, why not play Rhys Bennett up-front with Vadaine Oliver and John Akinde, why was there no real tactical changes, because Stuart O’Keefe on for Daniel Adshead, And a enforced substitution with David Tutonda having to come off suggests that there is a lack of decision making when it comes to substitutions, Charlie Kelman gets hyped up when Gillingham sign him, But he hardly plays.
The lack of pace in the squad is there for all to see, So when I heard comments from supporters complaining about long balls to Oliver and Akinde, that’s all we got, Gillingham don’t have many players who have the blistering pace to take on a player, Danny Lloyd can do that at times, But look at Wycombe Wanderers, they have got Brandon Hanlan, Gareth McCleary, Curtis Thompson, and Jordan Obita who can take on a player, and then there is Sam Vokes who is a quality centre forward, If your Sam Vokes, and you got those four players with pace providing you with chances then you are going to score goals, And Gillingham lacking pace means that there is not much an option in-terms of an out-ball.
And regarding The Paul Scally Out Chants, it’s clear that Gillingham need a change in ownership and Gillingham need a new owner who can take Gillingham in a new direction, we need someone with a new voice, someone who can inject some excitement and enthusiasm into Gillingham Football Club, a owner who has a detailed plan and can communicate better with the supporters and I do believe that we will see attendances increase inside Priestfield Stadium with a change in ownership as well, Because right now, we are looking to survive again in League One, and it is clear that Paul Scally does not have the finances capable of making Gillingham competitive in League One anymore, and if the finances are not there, then the finances are not there.
But I do believe that someone new can come in and just breath new life into Gillingham Football Club, and maybe we have a different approach to signing players, we might use our limited budget wisely, there might be a plan to sign young players and look to sell those players on for a profit and reinvest that money from selling players back into the football club, Maybe someone new will come in and just look to capitalise on the fact that Gillingham are Kent’s Biggest Football Club and we should be looking too make full use of that when signing players.
Now Colin Jarvis has been mentioned, and he would at least would be someone who would take care of Gillingham Football Club and not mis-treat the club in a bad way compared to other owner’s we have seen at other Football League Clubs, I think the talk of millionaire and billionaire owners is a pipe-dream, and I don’t think that is the route we should go down either, Because we have seen so many owners talk about spending the cash, and then that cash starts to disappear very quickly, Bristol Rovers comes to mind straight away.
But Diane made a very good point that “The Scally Out” Chants ruins the match-day experience for supporters who are neither Chairman In Or Chairman Out, and that is a perfectly valid point to make, I also think that those who chant “Scally Out” Also make a good point that if you don’t show your anger and frustration with the way the club is being run on a match-day, then nothing will change at the football club, I also mentioned after the game that hopefully, Paul Scally will answer supporters questions in the next Chairman’s Chat, Because Paul Scally asked supporters to send in there questions to him, and he will look to answer as many of those questions as possible, And I think using The Chairman Chat in that manner would be far more beneficial as well.
Jack Tucker made his 100th appearance for Gillingham Football Club, which was great to see, Vadaine Oliver apologised for missing the penalty against Wycombe Wanderers, and Vadaine Oliver had no reason to apologise because he has been first class ever since he signed for Gillingham, and without Vadaine Oliver’s goals this season, Gillingham would be bottom of League One right about now, I do think that had that penalty been scored for 1-2 down, then Gillingham had a chance to battle back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2, And that penalty miss was the turning point throughout the match as well, and both Gillingham and Wycombe Wanderers Supporters knew this as well.
Gabriel asked me why do I think Gillingham will struggle this season, And I responded with the following,,,,, Gillingham have not been able to replace Ogilvie and Graham, Jackson has spent the vast majority of this season injured, Carayol is a quality player when fit, and when fit is the key word, The lack of pace is very concerning, and so is the lack of depth in Gills first team squad, I would take twentieth in League One right now, and I would hope that Gillingham end higher in The League One Table, But this season looks like it is going to be a very long season for The Gills.
And hopefully at the end of the season, Gillingham will still be in League One, but whoever comes in to replace Steve Evans as Manager will be walking into a football club that has every player out of contract in the off season, and there will be a huge re-building job to try and make Gillingham as competitive as they can be, IF We stay up, and if Gillingham are in League Two, that re-building process becomes that much tougher and bouncing back into League One at the first attempt would be a challenge, But I do fear that relegation into League Two will see Gillingham looking over there shoulder at The Conference National, which is why Gillingham need to avoid relegation and stay in League One.
Hopefully, Gillingham can lift supporters spirits, by winning against Whitstable Town In The Kent Senior Cup Semi Final, and back to back home league wins against Sunderland and Doncaster Rovers In League One, three wins in a row would bring more of a positive out-look on to our up and coming matches against Bolton Wanderers and West Ham United’s U21’s, and back to back home league wins and reaching The Kent Senior Cup Final would lift supporters spirits as well - COME ON THE GILLS!!!!!!!!!!

East Fife 0-3 Rangers: Visitors cruise into Scottish League Cup quarter-finals
For Rangers, a stormy afternoon on the Fife coast was the equivalent of some rest before an impending storm of greater challenges.
A routine progress to the quarter-finals of the Betfred Cup yielded positive results through three goals and three debut. After making no fewer than 10 changes to his basic line-up, Steven Gerrard & # 39; s side did not have to shine in overcoming League One opposition.
Yet the work was still done with only the shortest tips of drama. And for Filip Helander it became an occasion that he will remember with affection, even after it has long since disappeared from the memories of more passive observers.
Jermain Defoe celebrates after giving Rangers the lead against East Fife
Defoe ended well after he first half in the goal was played by Filip Helander
The center of Sweden is with 3 million the most expensive of all of Gerrard ten summer additions. The Ibrox manager believes that spending can be a defensive bargain, but it was the most progressive aspects of his game that marked the first competitive appearance of Helander in a light blue shirt.
An assist for the first half of Jermain Defoe opener was followed by a header that hit the net through net East Fife counterpart Ross Dunlop. You can be sure that Helander will try to claim a debut strike instead of being registered as his own goal.
Andy King and Brandon Barker both appeared from the couch to make their arches during the second period, giving Gerrard a few minutes in legs for a hefty fourteen days of competitions.
From the picturesque surroundings of Bayview, all overlooking the beach, solar panels and three empty sides, Rangers enter the heat of Thursday night's hostile road from them. Play-off Europa League against Legia Warsaw
After a short Premiership trip to St Mirren and the return match against Legia for a long-awaited first match of the season on 1 September. and Rangers have the right to enter the international break bouyant with conviction. More meaningful decisions can be made on that point.
As it is, Gerrard & # 39; s side has already scored 30 goals this time – with Joe Aribo scoring the third here – and are now up to five straight wins.
Helander doubles his side up close after being excavated by Jordan Jones
East Fife defeated Dundee United and pulled with Hearts to get out of their group and stand on their credit card, just refused to roll. With the exception of the first half chance, however, part-timers Darren Young never threatened what would have been a seismic shock.
Gerrard & # 39; s wholesale rotation did not leave Glen Kamara as the only starter to be taken over from the 3-1 Europa League qualifying win over Midtjylland FC last Thursday night
A look at the substitutes further emphasized the current size of the Ibrox team. Niko Katic was the only one among them who had also been shown last Thursday evening.
Katic was accompanied there by fellow countryman Borna Barisic. When the Croatian left back is not used in Bayview – because he was omitted for both legs against Midtjylland – this suggests that his attempts to gain Gerrard's confidence have certainly fallen flat.
As it was, the selection review led to an incoherent opening. On a plastic field that was raining from black pellets, Gerrard's guitar picks were slowly thrown into finding fluency.
They found that Referee Don Robertson should have helped to reduce early tension. Jordan Jones shot past Stewart Murdoch and fell over when the full back scrambled back at him on the sidelines. The winger appealed for a penalty, as did Captain-for-the-day Andy Halliday as he rushed to his mind. Robertson, however, was unmoved by the chorus when he declared a goal kick.
A number of decent actions then led Defoe to near-thump had been saved by Jordan Fife goalkeeper Jordan Hart, who has ambitions to pursue an alternative career in politics.
Gerrard, however, was irritated by some of the field policies that his players took on – particularly in a 15-minute series that almost froze East Fife's lead.
Not for the first time Kamara gave up the ball with a loose pass. The host grabbed the gift and grabbed the ball forward so that Liam Watt could cross from the left.
Halliday was sucked in, giving the upcoming Aaron Dunsmore the chance to make contact with the far post. Fortunately for his colleagues in the field, Wes Foderingham was alert and blocked from close by.
Relieved by that delay, Rangers knew they had to try to make their quality count. And it was exactly along such a & # 39; n route that a breakthrough of 26 minutes was ensured.
Helander stepped back from the middle before firing a nice pass to Defoe. The real touch of class, however, was the agility of the 36-year-old's turn. Defoe turned on his right and eliminated toiling Dunlop and Chris Higgins markers. Once in the area, he coolly stroked the ball past Hart.
Defoe & # 39; s sixth goal of the season was almost followed by a seventh eight minutes later. This time, Halliday kept alive the danger of a half-cleared Jones-cross with a header that landed at his feet. The strike was almost immediate and seemed to be hit by Hart, although it was awarded in the corner.
A former Celtic youth, Hart cannot be accused of lack of personality . Barked defense instructions led to one vocal criticism within the Rangers support to insist on silence, because he bluntly & # 39; s *** e & # 39; used to be. & # 39; I know, & # 39; Hart shot back and drew an appreciative smile from his former torturers.
The 23-year-old was called to more meaningful action a minute later in the second period. Hart smuggled the danger away when Aribo, who had offered the most creative touches of an Ibrox midfielder, tried to turn in a Jones corner near the nearby post. And the men from Gerrard were quickly back on the front foot to reach that goal.
Greg Docherty chose Defoe for a new exhibition of fast-moving footwork. This time, however, the Bournemouth borrower hit too little room before he found the net with his shot.
The result was only postponed to the 56th minute. Dunlop was booked to retrieve Defoe after he was brought under control again by the striker. But his misery did not end there.
Stewart gave the deep free kick with Jones towards the goal. Helander stepped in to repent and his header repelled Dunlop to cross the line.
That was the signal for Gerrard to hand out two more debutions. Docherty and Stewart were withdrawn just before the hour to allow King and Barker's introductions. Barker's corner forced a flap from Hart and the former Charlton man finally put the ball in the net for his fourth goal in eight appearances.

Kilmarnock complete comeback to move up to third
Oran Kearney questioned Kilmarnock’s winner and St Mirren’s disallowed goal after his side succumbed to defeat.
Adam Hammill’s free-kick gave the Buddies the lead but Alan Power’s shot and Aaron Tshibola’s header moved Killie up to third in the Premiership.
Simeon Jackson had a goal disallowed for offside at 2-1 and the Paisley side remain second bottom of the division.
“There’s a big momentum swing there with 15 minutes to go if that goes in and it’s 2-2,” said Kearney.
“My gut feeling was Danny Mullen was in an offside position but not active. He doesn’t interfere with the play at all. Simeon is absolutely onside by a yard, a yard-and-a-half onside.
“The second goal for them, if it is over the line, it’s a heck of a call from the linesman. You’ve got to be 100% sure on that side that it’s over the line. The distance I’m away, it’s hard to see.”
Kilmarnock manager Clarke said of the Tshibola goal: “Too far away for me to see. The linesman and the people round about it, the boys in the dressing room are convinced it was clearly over the line.”
It was the fourth match in a row in which Killie had come from behind to win but Clarke cautioned: “Sometimes in football, you get a little run like that where you concede the first goal. Eventually it’ll come back to bite us so it’s something that we have to address.”
Set pieces count in Paisley
Chances from open play were few and far between in Paisley. Killie captain Kirk Broadfoot had a couple of headed chances, team-mate Greg Stewart another.
The Buddies were also largely restricted to set pieces and one out wide on the left gave them the opener. Hammill curled in towards the diving figure of Mullen and the ball went all the way into the far corner.
Killie, who threatened with an Eamonn Brophy shot before the break and a Stuart Findlay strike after it, changed their approach at corners in the second half and were rewarded.
Both times Stewart collected the short ball. He laid it on for Alan Power to fire home a sumptuous shot and then crossed for Tshibola’s header, which was judged to have crossed the line before Samson got across to block.
Jackson had been denied at close range by Jamie MacDonald in between the two Kilmarnock goals and the forward was left frustrated again, this time by the offside flag. He followed in on the rebound after Stephen McGinn’s shot had been saved but the home side’s celebrations were cut short.
St Mirren endeavoured, but Kilmarnock coped and the Buddies, who have taken just one point under Kearney and lost four in a row, can only take solace in the fact that both bottom side Dundee and 10th-placed Motherwell also lost.
‘Killie showed what they can do’ – reaction
St Mirren manager Oran Kearney: “Probably as good a first-half performance as we’ve turned in this season. Games aren’t won at half-time. We knew what would come probably for the first 10 or 15 minutes of the second half. In simple terms, we struggled to deal with it.
“With every week it’s improving, it’s getting better. The important thing is that we keep doing the right things. For 45 minutes we were good, it was probably more our game management and the ability to go and see out that first part of the second half that ultimately has cost us.”
Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke: “I thought we were poor first half but credit St Mirren, I thought they were really good first half. They thoroughly deserved to be in front.
“We had a little chat at half-time and I thought we came out and showed what we can do second half. It’s a good run. It’s really difficult to win four games in the Premiership and we’ve done that – four in a row.”

The Cavaliers look terrible. It is October.
We have that and more in Monday’s NBA newsletter.
Point: The Cavaliers lost to the freaking Knicks by 19 points on Sunday. Counterpoint: It is October.
Point: The Cavs have lost three straight games. Counterpoint: It is October.
Point: The Cavaliers have lost four of five, and the win was a close game against the freaking Bulls. Counterpoint: it is October.
Point: The Cavs are below .500 two weeks into the season with a bottom-10 strength of schedule. Counterpoint: it is October.
Point: The Cavaliers have a bottom-5 defense right now. Counterpoint: it is October.
Point: The Cavs are closer to last place than first place in the Central Division. Counterpoint: it is October.
Don't panic. It is October. Don't panic. It is October. Don't panic. It is October.
Scores Galore ...
MIL 117, ATL 106 SAS 94, IND 97 DEN 124, BKN 111 ORL 113, CHA 120 WAS 110, SAC 83 NYK 114, CLE 95 DET 115, GSW 107
... And So Much More
But seriously folks, the Cavaliers are not playing well right now. This is muted somewhat by the fact that the Warriors are not even trying until the fourth quarter most nights. Golden State's defense has been a tire fire of disregard. It bit them Sunday as DETROIT BASKETBALL slid in and stole a win. I would make a bigger deal of this, except I'm hurt and disappointed and ... hurt that the Pistons are apparently for real a year after I foolishly believed them to be real. Fool me once, Detroit ...
If you weren't watching the NBA on Friday, you missed a FRACAS. It happened late in Wizards vs. Warriors in Oakland. Bradley Beal clubbed Draymond Green across the face, they hugged, Kelly Oubre came swinging in, a couple of Wizards left the bench. You'll want to check out Tim Cato's full breakdown of the buffoonery. The only suspensions were Markieff Morris and Carrick Felix, who both left the bench. Fines for Beal, Oubre, and Dray. So we're clear: leaving the bench is worse than swinging fists in the NBA.
This Chris Haynes piece is ostensibly about Draymond's anger about being fined by the NBA, and especially being fined more than Oubre. But buried deep in there is DRAYMOND SNITCHING ON NEIL OLSHEY, who apparently flipped the bird at the end of a recent Blazers loss.
Paul Flannery on why Kristaps Porzingis is the right man for the Knicks' future.
Seerat Sohi is writing a new Sunday column for SBNation.com ... and it's gooood. The first one hits the magic of Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid.
Whitney Medworth has a new column, too. It's called the B-Sides and it's a celebration of what makes the NBA so fun. Check it out.
The great Chris Herring on the great Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Uh, the Thunder's plane hit something in flight from Minneapolis to Chicago on Friday night, leaving the nose cone looking like a beer can in the clutches of viral Maryland student. Delta says the plane hit a bird on descent.
You're going to want to subscribe to Kelly Dwyer's new home.
Yikes, Avery Bradley.
I explained what we know about the Nets' sale to Joseph Tsai.
Blake Griffin is reliably shooting threes now. Be afraid.
Interesting piece from Marc Spears on how much players value warm welcomes from former teams after being traded or leaving as free agents.
Clever self-pass, Malik Monk! It's a shame Aaron Gordon sniffed it out so easily.
The Sixers put Markelle Fultz on ice for at least three weeks. And so it begins ...
Three-on-three basketball increasingly seems like a completely different sport than 5-on-5.
Shabazz Muhammad is legally changing his name to Bazz.
Everyone knows when the Spurs are going to run the hammer, and no one can stop it. But hey, Indiana made it out thanks to a gutsy Victor Oladipo game-winner!
Look, I will read anything about the new Raptors bench unit. That this piece is by a writer as talented as Jared Dubin is a bonus.
Former Sun Paul Shirley on Robert Sarver.
Wessell Rustbrook. Think about it.
And now, for an abrupt switch to a serious, painful topic: WNBA star and UConn legend Breanna Stewart's personal #MeToo essay. (Trigger warning based on the subject matter.)
Who Got Next?
There's a good NBA TV double-header on deck: Spurs-Celtics at 7:30 p.m. ET and Warriors-Clippers at 10:30. And honestly, the League Pass lineup is great, too. Full schedule here.
Be excellent to each other.

BRISTOL 1STS VS. UNIVERSITY OF ST MARK AND ST JOHN 1STS
Upon the 1sts arrival at Coombe Dingle, the geographers among us were quick to notice that a band of frontal rainfall was moving in, subsequently soaking us for the duration of the warm up. However, nothing could dampen the spirits of the first game of the season and Bristol were PUMPEDDD and ready to go.
With Aaron’s plan of action imprinted in their brains the firsts began the new campaign. Despite Marjons having travelled a long way to be here, it was Bristol who were slow off the mark. A quick break by a blonde who would have been better suited on a sprint track, and Bristol found themselves 1-0 down.
Around this time the citric acid from Elena’s tangerines must have kicked in, and spurred on by shouts from Aaron (who’s voice will never be drowned out, not even by the gale force winds whipping around Coombe) Bristol found their feet and dominated the rest of the half, causing the possession stats to look like this: 96% Bristol, 4% Marjons. Shiner’s left foot was as reliable as her attendance on a night out on a Wednesday and the opposition cowered away as she repeatedly booted away any balls that came through. Henna Butcher, Ana Holmes and Jess Robinson teamed up nicely together in the middle to play some mighty fine one touch football around the Marjon defenders and worked hard to deliver balls forward. Henna (and her hair) completed the nutmeg of the day, causing a general WEYYYYYYY to be heard from around the ground.
Bristol began to create more and more chances and Jess (futsal enthusiast) delivered a beautiful corner into the box straight to the multi-talented Amy Brook, who cannot only defend but also absolutely smash one into the top right corner of the Marjons net, WHAT A LEGEND. 1-1.
With the score level again, Marjons struggled to find their feet (literally they were falling over nothing, see Camilla’s live photo for more details) and despite being called offside every time they made a pass, Bristol continued to control the game. Clearly not tired from cycling to the venue, Zoe Fielden Stewart’s pace was too much for the Marjon defenders and she out ran them every time to deliver passes into the box. On the other side first team captain Annys Turner showed relentless skill and speed that left Marjons falling to their knees.
The second half continued much like the first and Bristol demonstrated some beautiful possession football. Super subs Madeline Taylor (Madz), Phoebe (or Phoebo) Tate and Emily Jones injected new energy into Bristol’s attack. A goal was imminent, and sure enough Amy Brook delivered a perfect ball into Elena Fairley, who despite being pulled back by a desperate defender managed to put away, in the words of Annys Turner, a “creepy” goal.
Strong defending from Amy Brook, Shiner and Trim meant that the Marjons could create few opportunities. Goalkeeper Gemma Moore’s safe hands ensured any chances were quickly stopped and the Marjons strikers struggled to reach the through ball as Gemma claimed it every time.
Chez Philips had the better of the defence and created opportunities left, right and centre as Bristol attacked. Madz and Phoebe closed down any balls that fell to the Marjons feet, winning the ball back and setting up some beautiful play. Emily Jones kept up the pace on the wing, delivered some rockets of crosses into the box and worked continuously to help get back and defend.
Bristol looked unstoppable, as Henna decided to play (and win) the crossbar challenge. Elena Fairley just missed the goal with a powerful header, though questioned whether it was worth it as her head was crushed into her neck for the next 10 minutes. Might want a Guinness to make that feel better. Chez continued to cause havoc for the Marjon defence as she powered forward.
However the break was always a threat and unfortunately it paid off as Marjons ran through, crossed the ball and found a free player who slotted it home to bring the score back to 2-2.
The full time whistle was blown and Bristol had to settle for the draw, despite playing like winners the whole match. It was a fantastic display of football and a great start to the season.
Thank you to the retired UBWFC players who came to watch - we hope we did you proud! Thank you also to the 2nd team players who came to support us and coach Aaron.
Man of the Match: Emily Trim
Squad: Gemma Moore, Alice Shiner, Amy Brook, Emily Trim, Zoe Fielden-Stewart, Henna Butcher, Jess Robinson, Ana Holmes, Annys Turner, Elena Fairley, Chez Philips, Madeline Taylor, Phoebe Tate and Emily Jones.

Arsenal players hit tough by food items poisoning in China - Arsene Wenger
ESPN FC’s Arsenal correspondent Mattias Karen shares the information about food items poisoning in the Arsenal camp during their tour in China.
SHANGHAI — Arsene Wenger suggests food items poisoning has ravaged the Arsenal camp on their preseason tour to China, and admitted that the considerable travelling to distinctive climates is just not “suitable physically” for the players.
For every Mertesacker and Olivier Giroud both of those missed Wednesday’s friendly victory over Bayern Munich for the reason that of sickness, though Sead Kolasinac experienced to occur off before the crack and second-50 percent substitutes Theo Walcott and Aaron Ramsey both of those completed the activity not experience well.
Wenger acknowledged that the “shock” of coming to sweltering Shanghai — the place the temperature was 37 levels at kickoff — from Australia’s winter season weather may possibly have impacted the players’ overall health.
Requested if the extended-haul flights to distinctive time zones and temperature circumstances are really worth it, Wenger claimed: “It is a fantastic issue. Sad to say often I give terrible solutions to fantastic inquiries. But if you check with me if it is suitable physically to put together, I say surely not.
“Does it have other advantages? Sure, for the reason that we can meet lovers all over the earth. The bonding in the crew is less difficult as well for the reason that we stay collectively for two months. So on that entrance it can be incredibly favourable. But the genuine reply will be provided by the way we start in the championship.”
Arsenal beat Bayern 3-two in a penalty shootout soon after Alex Iwobi levelled the scores one-one with a last-gasp header for the Gunners at Shanghai Stadium, in a activity that stood out generally for the warmth.
Robert Lewandowski experienced provided Bayern the early guide and squandered a amount of prospects to double their guide before the Gunners acquired a small measure of redemption for their two 5-one losses to the German giants in last season’s Champions League.
That’s in spite of Wenger taking part in with a makeshift again 3 of Nacho Monreal, Mohamed Elneny and Krystian Bielik soon after Mertesacker experienced to withdraw just before kickoff to return to the lodge. Laurent Koscielny also missed the activity with a again trouble.
When Bayern dominated significantly of the activity, Wenger was happy with how his crew dealt with the hard circumstances in the course of the week.
“It was a little bit of a shock for us to occur from Australia the place we ended up freezing,” he claimed. “When we came out of the aircraft in Shanghai I ought to say it was a little bit of a shock. And we experienced resolved to function incredibly tough Monday and Tuesday so I was a little bit scared that tonight we could have huge challenges.
“In reality in the to start with 50 percent we suffered a small little bit but then in the second 50 percent we became physically sharper, and maybe Bayern dropped a little bit as well. It was an appealing activity for us for the reason that we experienced to dig deep and I assume we are going to profit from it in the coming months.”
But he rejected the idea that it would erase recollections of the Champions League drubbings towards the Germans.
“These forms of games really don’t wipe out what transpired last year, we are going to constantly keep in mind that,” he claimed. “It can be distinctive but it’s still fantastic to get towards a crew like Bayern for the reason that it can help a small little bit the self-assurance… It can help us to assume, let’s drive on with the last two months of our preparations. So on that entrance, mentally it’s fantastic.”
Stewart Robson is just not acquiring Arsene Wenger’s views on Alexis Sanchez’s wish to leave Arsenal for a second.
Arsenal go on their travels by traveling to Beijing on Thursday for one more friendly towards Chelsea on Saturday but assistant supervisor Steve Bould would not be with them soon after needing a hernia procedure in Australia.
Bould was left at the rear of when the crew left Sydney on Sunday and has been through a effective treatment,.
“Steve Bould has a hernia. He experienced to do it [the procedure] in Australia, he could not vacation,” Wenger claimed. “It all went well, but he could not go on. He suffered way too significantly, he experienced to do it in Australia. He will go residence on Saturday from Australia. But he is Alright, I experienced him on the mobile phone last night and he is fantastic.”
Bould, the previous centre-again who performed for Arsenal from 1988-99, has been Wenger’s primary assistant considering that 2012.

Early ’60s 1941 Ford Custom Show Truck Makes a Big Comeback
Styles took a turn for the wild in the early ’60s, and custom rods and show rods helped lead the way. Since the ’50s, builders like George Barris, Dean Jeffries, Ed Roth, Bill Cushenberry, Darryl Starbird, Gene Winfield, and many others were pushing the boundaries of customization further than they had ever been pushed.
In some cases, these extreme custom styles were applied to trucks; the wildly customized Rod & Custom Dream Truck being one famous example. Another was a yellow Ford pickup exhibited at the 1962 San Mateo Auto Show. Owned by Joe Crispin of Redwood City, California, it featured a heavily louvered hood, a 1956 Oldsmobile engine, Eldorado wheels, Corvette taillights with 1959 Cadillac lenses frenched into the rear fenders, and a telephone and TV in the bed. A year later, the truck was back in San Mateo, this time with dark green metalflake paint, flames on the rear fenders and spare tire cover, frenched quad headlights added by Bill Cushenberry, and a new name: Crème De Menthe.
Steve McClain was a little kid at the time, just old enough to be impressed by those far-out show rods. Now he owns Crème De Menthe, a resurrected piece of Bay Area custom history.
Steve learned about the truck from his friend Dave Simonds, who found it at a swap meet in very rough condition. Steve was interested in the truck’s history as a Bay Area custom show vehicle. He offered a trade—the truck for an unfinished project of his own. What he received in his end of the trade was a far cry from a show truck. He brought it home in pieces, finished with a worn orange paintjob. “The truck was a basketcase,” Steve says. “The cab was a mess. All four corners were rusted out with huge holes in them. The floor was rusted out and had large holes in it. The firewall was toast, the back of the cab was dented, and the driver side door had some problems.” The lower portion of the cab was beyond repair. The bed was also in bad shape and had been tubbed when the truck was redone as a Pro Street–style race truck—but the louvered hood, front fenders with Cushenberry’s quad headlights, rear fenders with the custom taillights, and other distinguishing components had survived various rebuilds.
Steve wanted to preserve as much of the original truck as possible. Old timers in the Bay Area who had memories of the truck shared copies of show programs and a July ’62 issue of Rod & Custom magazine featuring photos. Eventually, Steve ordered repro cab corners, floor, and bed from Northern Classic Parts—and a new firewall and kick panels from Bitchin Products. He also bought a MIG welder to do his own sheetmetal repair. He replaced the rusted sheetmetal and added a new front frame section to the boxed Ford ’rails (which have now been powdercoated satin black). The new Mustang II–style front suspension from TCI includes polished tubular A-arms, 2-inch dropped spindles, and coil springs. A Ford 8.8-inch rear with 3.73 gears and limited slip came from an Explorer and is suspended by Posies parallel leafs. Front and rear antiroll bars were added and brakes were upgraded to front and rear discs.
American Classic offers tires with a narrow whitewall just like the tires seen on this truck when it appeared in Oakland and San Mateo back in the day. These 225/75R15 and 165R15 radials are mounted on Wheel Vintiques chrome reverse wheels.
The rebuild was not intended to be a clone of its early ’60s version, and Steve proceeded like a true customizer, making modifications that suited his taste and the truck’s personality. The Olds engine from the early show years was removed years ago. Power is now provided by a 1992 Ford 5.0L HO engine, aspirated by an Edelbrock 600cfm four-barrel mounted on a polished Edelbrock Performer RPM intake. A finned aluminum air cleaner and finned Moon valve covers give the engine a traditional look. The front pulleys are a Vintage Air Front Runner system. Sanderson headers connected to 2-inch pipes with glass pack mufflers handle the exhaust. Faux ripple exhaust pipes extend along the upper edge of the bed, just like they did in the ’60s. A Ford AOD trans built by Nor-Cal Transmission was treated to a shift kit and spins a Ford Explorer driveshaft, modified to fit.
Hot rod builders Brandon Flaner and Aaron Groesbeck had just opened East Bay Speed & Custom in Concord, California, when Brandon was contacted by Steve. Things were progressing on the pickup project, and he needed some professional attention to push it to the next level. The guys at East Bay are young but have a love for early customs (they restored Mickey Himsl’s historic 1929 Ford Pickup a couple years ago) and Brandon said that building the Steve’s ’41 was a fun project. He straightened and refined the bodywork, repaired some of the vintage lead work, and recreated the rear fender metalwork surrounding the custom taillights. Brandon and Freddie Bedolla used House Of Kolor paint to return the truck to its early ’60s green finish, complemented by some lowkey pinstriping. East Bay also rebuilt the aluminum bed tonneau cover and spare tire cover.
Old photos show gold and brown tuck ’n’ roll upholstery in the truck. Bob Divine at Divine’s Custom Interiors brightened up the interior, using light green and vanilla shake colored vinyl to cover the inside panels and the Ford minivan bench seat. The stock instruments were restored, and a trio of Stewart Warner gauges was added to the center of the dash. The steering wheel is a reduced 1940 Ford from Vintique on an ididit column.
In addition to doing his own building and working with Brandon Flaner and other professionals, Steve received help and support from fellow members of the Early Ford V-8 Club. After final assembly and a few weeks of working on final details, Steve, Brandon, Aaron Groesbeck, and Bob Flaner loaded up the 1941 Ford and took it to Pomona for the Grand National Roadster Show.
Spectators loved seeing a genuine early ’60s custom show truck make its 21st century return, and judges selected it for a couple of “Best” awards. If trucks have feelings, being back at the Roadster Show after 50 years must have felt like a homecoming for Crème De Menthe.

Five things to like about week one of the JLT pre-season series
Travis Cloke gives Bulldogs a kick along
He’s back. Yes, it’s early days but Cloke, after a bruising 2016 when he played a career low number of matches (13) at Collingwood, showed he be a force at his new club. Cloke appears to have shed a few kilograms and was happy to hunt up the field for the football against Melbourne at Whitten Oval, finishing with a goal and a long-range super goal. He was initially seen as cover for injuries but there is no reason to think the 29-year-old cannot command a regular spot in a team which struggled for marking options inside 50 last season. That the Dogs like to move the ball quickly should help the one-on-one specialist. Coach Luke Beveridge was also happy that Cloke “kicked the ball well”, considering goal conversion has been a major issue. “He’s trained hard and we’re hoping we find the best qualities in his performances this year and there were some really good signs,” Beveridge said. Stewart Crameri, returning from his anti-doping ban, had 16 touches up forward and will also add firepower. While we are at the Whitten Oval, the double-header with the AFLW match up second worked well, with strong crowds for both matches. Tick.

Cats ready to cover for retired greats
While Geelong’s short-sleeved guernsey baffled some supporters, there was much to like on the field in a four-point loss to Hawthorn in Launceston on Friday night. Three new faces were particularly impressive, with former Kangaroo Aaron Black (four goals) combining well alongside Tom Hawkins, Zach Tuohy enjoying 33 touches across half-back and filling the role held for so long by the retired Corey Enright, while draftee Brandan Parfitt had 11 disposals through the midfield wearing Jimmy Bartel’s former No.3 guernsey. That the Cats will also have Harry Taylor up forward as a tall marking option means the reliance on Hawkins – the major issue last season – won’t be as great.

Hawks pack more punch up forward
Jarryd Roughead’s return from his battle with cancer warmed the hearts of the football world – and there was more for joy for the Hawks with what appears to be a forward line deep in talent and diversity. With Jack Gunston and Luke Breust rested, the Hawks booted 11 first-half goals, and 15 for the match. Cyril Rioli was at his bubbly best with three goals, young midfielder Kade Stewart added two (including the match-winner on the siren) and Ryan Schoenmakers, after a rugged 2016 when he managed only six senior games because of poor form and a groin injury, took four marks and booted two goals. Former Tiger Ty Vickery was goalless but competed well and had 10 disposals, earning praise from coach Alastair Clarkson. New skipper Roughead hade 14 touches and a goal, and will almost be a like a star recruit this season – something Jaeger O’Meara showed he was ready to handle while restricted to playing half of the match.
Demons rise to new depths
The Demons appear ready to become legitimate top-eight contenders this season, and that’s because of greater depth in the midfield and more options up forward. Christian Salem, having battled injury and illness over the past two years, had 19 touches against the Bulldogs and looks ready to become a consistent outside onballer. Angus Brayshaw, after a season affected by concussion, found plenty of the ball, while former Hawk Jordan Lewis enjoyed a game-high 28 disposals, including 19 handballs, through the midfield and across half-back. They join the likes of Nathan Jones, Jack Viney and Clayton Oliver in an imposing midfield. Coach Simon Goodwin was pleased with Lewis’ output. “By his own admission he probably struggled to settle into the game early. But once he did, I thought his direction, particularly down at half-back, was very good,” he said. A streamlined Jesse Hogan booted four goals and has found support from second-year tall Sam Weideman, who booted two goals and will also assist Jack Watts inside attacking 50.
Kangaroos still have some bounce
Many have tipped the Roos to slip from the top eight after culling more than 1700 games of experience but their performance against a sub-strength Sydney at Coffs Harbour on Sunday showed they are likely to remain a finals contender in what shapes as another log jam in the middle rungs of the ladder. There is enough emerging talent – Ed Vickers-Willis, Mitch Hibberd and Declan Mountford to name three – who should help to keep the Roos more than competitive although it’s clear club leaders such as new skipper Jack Ziebell, Shaun Higgins and Ben Cunnington will need to have strong campaigns. Former Bulldog Nathan Hrovat will add run and goalkicking power through the midfield and up forward. For the Swans, young stars Callum Mills (29 disposals, eight marks) and Isaac Heeney (23 disposals, nine tackles) look set to cover for ball magnet Tom Mitchell, now at Hawthorn, through the midfield.

Dundee 1-2 Kilmarnock: Controversial penalty gives Kilmarnock win over Dundee
A controversial penalty helped Kilmarnock win at Dundee and make it three Premiership wins in a row.
Jordan Jones went down when there appeared to be no contact, and Eamonn Brophy converted from the spot for what turned out to be the winner.
Greg Stewart then missed a second spot kick, after a tussle between Kilmarnock players to decide the taker.
Adil Nabi had Dundee in front early on, but the visitors levelled when Jones’ shot was deflected in off Andy Boyle.
Kilmarnock are up to third, but Dundee remain rooted to the foot of the table, with Neil McCann’s side having won just one of their opening eight league matches.
Saturday’s Scottish Premiership – reaction and as it happened[1]
Dundee ‘punched’ once again
After getting their first league win of the season last week, Neil McCann said Dundee had been ‘punched’ so many times previously, having lost their opening six games.
And at Dens they were flattened by two unfortunate blows- a deflected strike and a dubious penalty.
They did initially come out swinging when Calvin Miller put a cross in that was flapped at by Scott Boyd, and Adil Nabi profited to stroke home his first Dundee goal.
The Kilmarnock attacking quartet of Stewart, Brophy, Chris Burke and Jones were always a threat with their pace and trickery though.
Jones flashed a volley just over before appearing in the box again minutes later for the equaliser, his shot taking a cruel deflection off Boyle to loop over Elliot Parish in the Dundee goal- a sucker punch.
Kilmarnock continued to attack with real intent and came close twice, Stewart flashing a shot wide and Boyd volleying inches over.
Then came the crucial blow in the second half. Jones went down in the box when there appeared to be no contact from Cammy Kerr and, controversially, referee Steven McLean pointed to the spot. Brophy ruthlessly dispatched the ball into the net to put Killie in front to leave Dundee despairing.
There was far less dubiety about the second Kilmarnock penalty, though, when Miller clattered into the back of Chris Burke.
But there was a bizarre episode of handbags between Killie teammates Stewart and Aaron Tshibola over who would take the penalty. Stewart won the battle but lost the war, as Parish did well to turn his strike round the post.
Dundee will feel luck totally deserted them, but in truth Kilmarnock fashioned the better opportunities and might have increased their lead late on.
‘Steve Clarke juggernaut is back’- analysis
BBC Scotland’s Jonathan Sutherland at Dens Park
No doubt about the big talking point in this match – the first penalty award to Kilmarnock.
How much contact was there? Difficult from the vantage point of the Dens Park stand to judge, but the Dundee defenders were clear they felt there was very little as they crowded around referee Steven McLean.
A hugely disappointing moment for Dundee manager Neil McCann as there were early signs of hope for the Dark Blues, albeit Kilmarnock wrested control of this match away from them.
Given the controversial nature of the winning goal any talk of pressure on McCann will likely be a secondary affair for the time being, and a breather now arrives in the shape of the international break.
Kilmarnock will gladly take the three points, three wins in a row and now three points behind league leaders Hearts – for 24 hours at least. The Steve Clarke juggernaut we all witnessed last season is well and truly back.

Tottenham 4 Wycombe 3: 97th-minute Son strike denies League Two side famous and deserved FA Cup upset
Tumblr media
Who said the FA Cup has lost its magic? Try telling that to the players, officials and supporters of Wycombe Wanderers who went within an ace of pulling off one of the great shocks in FA Cup history, in a pulsating cup tie.
Standing fifth in League Two, The Chairboys were just minutes away from unseating high-flying Tottenham, only to lose to a goal from Heung-Min Son in the sixth minute of stoppage time.
That goal, Son's second of the game, was the first time Tottenham had been ahead, having come from 2-0 down and then 3-2 behind, with Son, Dele Alli and a Vincent Janssen penalty pegging back Wycombe, for whom skipper Paul Hayes scored twice in the first half and Garry Thompson scored what he thought would prove to be the winning goal in the 83rd winner.
But Alli equalised in the final minute of normal time, and Son struck a dagger through Wycombe's hearts in the final minute of stoppage time to take Tottenham into the fifth round.
Gareth Ainsworth and his men were applauded off at the final whistle by both sets of supporters, who had seen Wycombe go so close to repeating their great feats of 2001, when they beat Leicester City of the Premier League before being beaten by Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final.

And it was nearly a worst ever FA Cup defeat for Tottenham, who had never lost to a team from the fourth tier of English football.
“We were a little lucky to get through,” admitted Mauricio Pochettino.
“Full credit to Wycombe, who outplayed us in the first-half. They hurt our pride and we played better in the second half.  But they made it difficult for us and it was a pleasure to play against them.”
Ainsworth looked crestfallen at the final whistle, but was more philosophical later. “I was gutted at the end but the overriding emotion now is how proud we are as a club. They have done the town and the club proud.
Tumblr media
Wycombe had raced into a shock 2-0 lead Credit: Rex Features
“We scored some fantastic goals, we've got leaders on the pitch and great character in the team. They've given everything today, and I can't ask any more of them. It just wasn't our day, but our day will come if we keep playing like that.”
Wycombe showed their intent in the first minute when Hayes thumped a header against Tottenham's crossbar, and they grew in confidence, and with their noisy band of fans urging them on. Adebayo Akinfenwa headed wide, Sam Wood volleyed over and then was just wide with an ambitious lob over Michel Vorm.
With nine regulars rested, Spurs looked disjointed, and squandered the few clear chances that came their way. Son had a rare opening when Jamal Blackman fumbled an attempted punch clear, but with the goalkeeper stranded, Son shot wide of the far post. The Korean's shooting was largely wayward, and his team-mates were no better in the opening hour.
Wycombe took a deserved lead after 23 minutes. Hayes had a volley from 25 yards tipped away by Vorm, and when the ball was headed out from the ensuing corner, it fell perfectly for Wycombe's captain to volley it back into the far corner of goal. Wycombe's supporters roared in delight, barely able to believe they were ahead.
Spurs vs Wycombe shots on goal
Within 12 minutes they had doubled their lead, again through Hayes. Tottenham allowed Sam Wood a run on goal, and when Cameron Carter-Vickers tried to tackle him, the Wycombe midfielder went sprawling. Referee Roger East pointed to the spot, Hayes drove the ball down the middle past Vorm, Wycombe were in dreamland and Spurs were in disarray.
Akinfenwa put a free header wide before half-time, while Spurs continued to miss chances, with Son shooting over the bar repeatedly and the woeful Moussa Sissoko being denied from close range.
Pochettino made his first change at half-time, replacing winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou with Janssen. The Dutch striker appealed for a penalty when Aaron Pierre sent him sprawling, but referee East was having none of it – this time. Spurs pulled one goal back on the hour mark when Son finally got a shot on target and beat Blackman at his near post after cutting in from the left.
Tumblr media
Vincent Janssen came off the bench to make it 2-2 from the spot Credit: Reuters
Pochettino threw Alli and Mousa Dembele into the fray, and within five minutes Spurs were level. Again Janssen went down under Pierre's challenge, referee East pointed to the penalty spot, and Janssen struck it low into the corner of the net.
Tottenham were finally in the game, but had to play out the final 20 minutes with ten men when, with all three Tottenham substitutes already on the pitch, Kieron Trippier injured his hip.
With only seven minutes remaining, Myles Weston made the most of the space vacated by Trippier to storm down the left and deliver a perfect cross for fellow substitute Garry Thompson to head past Vorm. It looked like it might be the winner for the Wycombe players, who all ran to the far end of the pitch to celebrate with their fans.
Tumblr media
Garry Thompson thought he had won it after putting Wycombe 3-2 up in ther 83rd minute Credit: AP
But it was not over yet. Alli raced through in the final minute of normal time and showed great composure to beat his marker and then place a shot past Blackman to make it 3-3. When the fourth official showed there was six minutes of stoppage time, one sensed there would be a final twist. It almost came when Janssen headed goalwards from close range only to see Blackman tip the ball over. But in the 96th minute, Son broke Wycombe's resistance, and their hearts, when he cut in from the left and arrowed a shot past the keeper.
For Wycombe, it was a cruel end to an amazing game. For Pochettino it was relief.
“Since I arrived in England four years ago, I have realised that the FA Cup is the most special competition in the world, and this game showed the beauty of the FA Cup.”

Gareth Southgate is at Stamford Bridge to keep an eye on Chelsea's youngsters, Wycombe are unbeaten in 16 games and looking for another win at Tottenham, and Rafa Benitez is at Oxford United's Kassam Stadium, just over two years after taking charge of his last game as Real Madrid manager. 2:47PM
How long will Kompany last?
Having Kompany back from injury is obviously huge for Pep Guardiola and his leaky Manchester City side, but as ever with the Belgian, the biggest question might just be about how long he will last.
His last appearance was on November 19, also at Selhurst Park, but that time he was on the pitch for only 37 minutes. Here's to hoping he can finally finish 90 minutes.
2:28PM
Half an hour to go
So one FA Cup fourth round game down and we've already had an upset. Will Spurs slip up at home to Wycombe? Will City make it past struggling Crystal Palace? Have Lincoln got another upset in them?
Just half an hour to go until all of the above games get under way and we get to find out.

For Brentford, meanwhile, former Chelsea man Josh McEachran starts in midfield, keen to show the Stamford Bridge crowd what they're missing.
Oh, and Jason Burt interviewed him the other day. You can read that here.

Welcome!
Hello there! We are primed and ready for the build up to the 3 o'clock kick offs - all nine of them - and we're hoping for lots of upsets, drama and FA Cup magic.
If you weren't already aware, there loads of just that at Anfield RIGHT NOW where Liverpool are 2-0 down to Wolves. You can follow coverage of that match here.
Alternatively, with Spurs taking on Wycombe, you should have a ready of Jason Burt's interview with Adebayo Akinfewa.
Below is an excerpt - and here it is in full.
“I tried to intimidate him [Dele Alli], and he was not intimidated,” Akinfenwa says. “I kid you not, I ran for all my might to try and catch him and I didn't. Then I was like: ‘Look, I know where you have got to go for half-time so I am just going to meet you in the tunnel'. That's what I said to him. And he was like 'fine'. I was like ‘OK’.
“I am cool with that. He was young. That is a beautiful thing. He was very cocky, very lairy, very self-assured. It is a good thing. I put out a tweet saying there are good players in the lower leagues because he was doing it in the lower leagues and then he did it against Chelsea.
“I saw him at one event a year later and I said 'you are lucky, I would have given you a suplex (a wrestling hold).' But no, he was cool, I did not have a problem with him standing up for himself. I have got so much respect for him and I think he is going to go on and on and on.”

Tottenham's late surge spares blushes and breaks Wycombe hearts
Tumblr media
Heung-Min Son left League Two side Wycombe Wanderers heartbroken with a winner deep into stoppage time to send Tottenham through to the FA Cup fifth round by the skin of their teeth.
The eight-time cup winners appeared to be heading out as the battling underdogs went 2-0 up at the break and then 3-2 ahead in the 84th-minute. But Dele Alli levelled and Son won it after Mauricio Pochettino’s youngsters had failed to deliver.
Spurs made nine changes with only Kevin Wimmer and Eric Dier remaining as Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, Josh Onomah and Cameron Carter-Vickers were all drafted in.
Tumblr media
The trio failed to impress as the League Two side took the lead thanks to Paul Hayes’ double before Heung-Min Son and sub Vincent Janssen pulled it back. Garry Thompson then looked to have won it for Wycombe but in a thrilling finale, Tottenham turned it around again.
Much of the pre-match talk was over how the Premier League side’s players would handle the threat of 16 stone Wycombe forward Adebayo Akinfenwa and they certainly endured a tough afternoon.
Tumblr media
The 34-year-old was instrumental in a move inside the first minute as he headed Sido Jombati’s cross across goal for Hayes to head against the crossbar.
Akinfenwa was then denied by Michel Vorm after heading at goal from Jamal Blackman’s free kick from his own goal. Tottenham were rattled but went close as Georges-Kevin Nkoudou closed in on goal only to be denied by a superb last-ditch Aaron Pierre tackle.
But it was Wycombe who belied their League Two status to create the better of the chances as Sam Wood volleyed over from Dominic Gape’s cross while the former saw a 35-yard lob just miss Vorm’s goal after beating the Dutchman.
The hosts still could have taken the lead as Heung-Min Son capitalised on a mix-up between Luke O’Nien and keeper Blackman but shot wide with the goal gaping.
Wycombe’s captain Hayes then saw an effort pushed away from distance but it was the underdogs who were to take a shock lead on 23 minutes.
Youngster Josh Onomah’s poor headed clearance from Joe Jacobson’s corner was met by Hayes with a sublime left-footed volley that had Vorm well beaten.
Tumblr media
Hayes was to make a vital interception at the other end moments later as he cleared off the line to deny Moussa Sissoko who seemed destined to score.
It then take a brilliant Blackman save to keep out Son’s powerful drive and Pochettino’s side then appeared destined for an equaliser with a period of intense pressure.
Kieran Trippier’s volley from Ben Davies’ corner missed the target before another drive from Son just missed its target.
But Wycombe claimed a second thanks to Wood’s surging run on the break and when he was brought down by Cameron Carter-Vickers, referee Roger East had no option to point to the spot. Hayes produced a cool 36th-minute finish to beat Vorm and put Gareth Ainsworth’s side into dreamland.
Tumblr media
Wycombe could have made it 3-0 before the break as Akinfenwa’s header went just wide from Joe Jacobson’s cross and Pochettino did bring on Janssen at the break in a bid to turn things around.
But their frustrations continued at the start of the second half with Son twice missing the target from good positions but the South Korean got Tottenham back in the game with a deflected left footed strike on the hour.
Pochettino then made his final changes with Mousa Dembele and Dele Alli coming and Tottenham were to level on 64 minutes from the spot.
Aaron Pierre was adjudged to have blocked Janssen and the much-maligned Swede sent Blackman the wrong way.
Tumblr media
Wycombe went close to regaining the led within moments as Winks’ back header played in Wood who drove just wide.
But Tottenham had to play the last 17 minutes of the game with ten men after Trippier limped off with an apparent hip problem.
That looked to have cost them as Myles Weston broke down the left before crossing for Thompson to head home. But it was not enough for a shock as Alli burst through the Wycombe defence a minute from the end before another run from Son also breached a tired visiting defence.
“We gave absolutely everything. I thought we had it - twice,” said Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth. “It's taken their big boys to come on to make a difference. I'm so so proud. We had chances. Our goals were well-worked. We will absolutely pick ourselves up from this.”
Tottenham manager Pochettino hailed the performance of the League Two side. “Full credit to Wycombe they played very well,” he said. “Congratulations to them because they were heroes. We did not underestimate them. Credit them, we cannot play them down. It was very difficult for us. It was difficult to stop them, they showed more desire and quality on the pitch. It is only fair to say the truth.”
Tottenham Hotspur (4-3-3): Vorm; Trippier, Carter-Wickers, Wimmer (Dembele 61), Davies; Dier, Winks, Sissoko; Onomah (Alli 61), Son, Nkoudou (Janssen 46).
Subs not used: Walker, Wanyama, Lopez Sabata, Walker-Peters.
Wycombe Wanderers (4-3-3): Blackman; Jombati, Stewart, Pierre, Jacobson; Gape, O’Nien, Wood; Kashket (Saunders 77), Akinfenwa (Weston 68), Hayes (Thompson 77).
Subs: Richardson, Harriman, Bean, Saunders.

Kamberi gives Hibs win in Killie thriller
Florian Kamberi’s penalty returned Hibernian to winning ways after an enthralling contest at Easter Road.
Stevie Mallan’s sweet free-kick – his seventh goal of the season – gave Hibs the ideal start and David Gray’s bullet header from a corner doubled the lead.
But Kilmarnock hit back impressively, Eamonn Brophy’s back-heeled finish completing a fine team move before Greg Stewart curled home a crisp equaliser.
Kamberi’s spot-kick earned Hibs the points after Jamie Maclaren was felled.
Victory – their first in the league since the opening-day – lifted Neil Lennon’s side above their opponents and into fifth place, still seven points behind Edinburgh rivals Hearts.
This was only a third defeat in 14 games on the road for Kilmarnock, who might have secured a point but substitute Kris Boyd’s late header was tipped over by Adam Bogdan.
Reaction and re-live the action as it happened [1]
Mallan aims to emulate McGinn at Hibs [2]
Mallan the man for a free-kick
Mallan was asked on Friday about becoming known as a free-kick specialist. He said he would “embrace” that label, adding “you always want to be known for something. All the top players are known for certain traits”.
Head coach Lennon set him a double-figure target for goals this season, but that will swiftly have to be revised with his sublime strike here – from around 27 yards – his seventh of the season, and his fourth direct from a free-kick.
The 22-year-old also spoke openly about his ambition to follow former team-mate John McGinn into the senior set-up, and his desire to score more goals from open play.
Mallan nearly added to his tally with another long-range effort in the first half that drifted narrowly wide, and was even closer with a similar strike early on the resumption.
Certainly national manager Alex McLeish will note the confidence coursing through the former St Mirren midfielder, who is flourishing again after a disappointing spell with Barnsley in the English Championship last season.
Another player enjoying a new lease of life is Stewart, who appears to be enjoying life at Kilmarnock after arriving on a season-long loan from Birmingham.
Stewart, 28, has had a couple of underwhelming seasons at first the Midlands club, and then on loan at Aberdeen last term.
But there were signs here of the form he showed in a productive spell at Dundee before his move south.
An early driving run saw him beat two players on the edge of the box before firing into the side-netting.
But he had a hand in the visitors’ opener, his lay-off feeding the marauding Stephen O’Donnell, whose first-time cross was back-heeled over the line by Brophy.
Brophy might have had a second when Bogdan saved with his feet, but Stewart’s equaliser was a thing of beauty, looking up and curling a sweet shot left-footed into the top corner.
