Remember B-more Club music? Baltimore Club music is supposed to be a mixture of breaks and house, but ended up neighbors with Electro. Here's the top artists back then, that ruled the flick--Spank Rock and Amanda Blank.

When I heard Matt was with Amanda Blank, I thought it was cool. She was a part of the BMore club music scene, which overlapped with 2006 UK nurave and the time AM was getting big. Spank Rock/Aaron LaCrate/etc. were pretty popular to ppl who were into AM and that scene in the USA then. 17 years later does it mean she should act how she is now? No, but imo it's fair to point out that she did contribute to something bigger *once*. All of these GFs have main character syndrome tho, which isn't cute.

If you're in the area, check out the "Aaron LaCrate: Just a Kid from Highlandtownâ exhibit at the Creative Alliance in Baltimore, Maryland. The exhibit explores the area's history of skateboarding, graffiti, and DJ culture.Â
A photo I took while working on a story for The Baltimore Sun is featured in the exhibition. Also, Aaron LaCrate, a music producer, DJ, and fashion designer, teamed up with artist Michael Owen to create a mural across the street from the Creative Alliance. They used my photo in the mural!
Here are a few other photographs that were published alongside The Baltimore Sun article about âMilk Squad,â the Baltimore-based skateboarding crew. (The link to the article is: http://www.baltimoresun.com/features/bs-ae-street-skateboarders-20160720-story.html)
Feel free to watch the video I made as well!

I usually permit myself one and only one look back, because we all know what happens to people women who look back*. I know this cellularly now, because due to what happened on New Yearâs Eve last year and The Thing I Am Too Scared to Write About Yet, for the first time in my life I spent this whole year looking back. I barely escaped the fate and Iâm going to tell you about that when I stop being too scared to write about The Thing I Am Too Scared to Write About Yet.Â
Suffice it to say, mostly because of what happened on New Yearâs Eve last year,  I did not post my Year in Music 2016 and I know I was pretty torn up about it. So, Iâm going to post that, plus what I remember about this year -- which isnât much due to what happened on New Yearâs Eve last year plus The Thing I Am Too Scared to Write About Yet -- in the hopes that Iâll come back and fill in the gaps ... soon.Â
What I will say is that music saved me at least twice this year (both times, I was taken by surprise, but I don't know why. Music is the shape of water**, it has always swum to me and seeped into the cracks of my heart until it was swollen again). Once was when I stumbled upon Derrick Mayâs âStrings of the Strings of Lifeâ while reading Adam Haslettâs Imagine Me Gone*** in an apartment off the Las Vegas Strip, and the second time was a couple weeks ago when I went to see Syd downtown. Near the end of her show, she got choked up and said, âItâs been a hard year, but Iâm learning to love myself.â Me too.Â

Favorite Music Memories of 2016 Dancing with YG to Still Brazy in a studio in the Valley tied with going to Ace of Diamonds for YGâs birthday party
Morphing from a quiet gallery (well, as quiet as a gallery night where Shia Labeouf is waiting in line can be) and wine night to hopping behind the booth at Bar Marmont (RIP) with Liz and a 24-year-old asking me very formally, âWould you like a vial of coke?â Itâs always the nights you least expect.Â
My full-blown impersonation of Axel singing âPatienceâ while driving along the mountains in Mexico. Itâs special, trust me.Â
92.3 B-Day Bash with Drew â Nicki being the bad bitch she is by opening with âDown in the DMâ and then bringing out YG.
RIP the GOAT, Prince. I have never cried so hard over the death of someone I didnât know personally. Then I danced so hard sweat matted my hair to my head at Adam 12â˛s secret loft Prince party.
I was totally over Coachella by Saturday. But then, the flower crown goddesses saw fit to plop a dude from Venice holding a vial of pure MDMA in my path while I was âreportingâ on drugs for Cosmo. The high lasted through Vince and even GNR (!), who I still canât believe I saw. Nate picked off a ton of hipsters like a fullback and got me in square in front of the sound booth. Take me down to the paradise city indeed lol.Â
Bribing the bouncer to get in the Layover in Oakland on a tip from a Berkeley bartender after he played an Andre Nickatina song Iâd never heard. I went to the bar after dancing to one song, and the bartender shouted, âYou have [gestures to my face].â I snapped open my compact to see mascara streaming down my cheeks.Â
Gay Night at Chicoâs in Montebello. Friend: âI see you standing outside talking and next thing I know, I come out of the bathroom to you literally flying around the room salsa dancing with some gay Mexican dude.âÂ
The stripper grinding on me at Snoop Doggâs listening party at SAMâsÂ
Walking home under a star-smeared sky after seeing Ryan Adams play the Greek
Watching the sun turn into melty orange sherbet with my little brother from the Ninja Tune rooftop Â
Slim Jimmy shouting me out from the Whiskey stage
Chills pricking my entire body during the opening riff to âGimme Shelterâ while watching the Rolling Stones as close as you can get with some old dude named Jack, who pulled out his phone exactly once.
*Genesis 19
**Pretty good movie!Â
***Affecting book. Reading is the great escape and I post little reviews with the hashtag #bookswithbex on Twitter, if you wanna check it out. Â
