“Jack, come on buddy. Let’s get up!” Aaron was bouncing around the kitchen trying to get his coffee made before heading into work. Begrudgingly, a very groggy and bed head Jack emerged from his room. He was a young man now, just a few years off from entering middle school. At eight, he was already showing that he truly was Hotch’s son.
A knock at the door drew Aaron’s attention from his son. Setting down his coffee, he hurriedly made his way over to greet the person behind the door. His girlfriend waited on the other side, with a smile and a box of donuts from their favorite bakery.
“Hey, honey,” Aaron beamed, leaning down to steal a kiss. “You’re gonna spoil us too much.”
“No such thing. Hello to you.” She replied, walking inside and enjoying the feeling of his hand on her lower back.
“Jack Jack? Where are ya buddy?” She called, as she made her way into the kitchen.
The young boy squealed in excitement as he heard her voice. He ran full throttle and tackled her legs. Leaning down, she felt her bag slip from her shoulder as she hugged him close.
“Hey bud!”
“Hi!” He exclaimed, the grogginess leaving his eyes in an instant.
Pulling back just a bit, she brushed through his epic bed head. “You excited to get ready for Santa today?”
At this, the young boy just shrugged his shoulders. Aaron watched from the kitchen, pouring his coffee black with three sugars. With a concerned look, she knelt down to be eye level with Jack.
“Now, what’s that for? You want Santa to come visit right? We gotta make him cookies,” but he just looked towards the ground.
“It seems kinda babyish to believe in Santa right? Besides, he didn’t come last year when I was with aunt Jessica.”
The adults heart broke. Last year, Aaron had been called out to Maine on a series of drowned bodies showing up in iced over barrels. He had missed spending Christmas with his son, leaving him in the care of his aunt. That also meant that he forgot to bring some of the presents from his desk at work where Jack could not get into them home.
It probably did not help that some bigger kids at his school were making fun of some other, younger kids in school for believing in Father Christmas. She sent a look towards her boyfriend, who had paused in reaching for his briefcase.
“You know what, I think Santa just wanted to make sure that you got extra presents this year.” She tried to save the situation at hand.
“Alright you two,” Aaron stated, drawing their attention away. “I’ve got to get to work. I’ll be home in time for dinner.”
“You better set the timer,” came her tease as she rose to stand once more. Once Hotch had gotten his hug from Jack, he gave his lover a quick peck on the lips before reluctantly leaving his little family.
The entire day, Aaron could not help but get distracted. He had set the timer that his girlfriend kindly texted to remind him about, ensuring that he would stop his work at the proper time. Most of the office was out today as it was Christmas Eve, but he had just a few papers that needed to be done before he was out for an entire day tomorrow.
He stood and stretched, groaning as he did while the ache left his bones. The heat was on in the office which he could not be more thankful for. Outside, it was starting to snow, but Aaron needed coffee. Only one other person was in the break room at this time of day; David Rossi. His right hand man smiled as the younger saddled up to make his next dose of caffeine.
“Aren’t you supposed to be at home with that little boy, and gorgeous young lady of yours?” David questioned with an arched eyebrow.
“The reports from the director can’t wait. Once those are done, I’m out of here.” He took a sip of the sweet buzz juice and leaned against the counter.
“Hmm, and how is Jack?”
“He’s… I’m not sure. I think he has finally outgrown Santa.” Aaron admitted, almost as if it pained him to say it.
“Oh no. What’s the next course of action then?” Dave was genuinely interested in what happened now as he had never experienced that with Joy. But Hotch just shook his head.
“I’m not sure.”
After that, he buckled back down into his work. He was battling a timer, and he was going to win. All the while, a framed photo of his girlfriend and son sat on his desk, giving him silent encouragement. However, his mind kept trying to find someway to not let Jack lose that childhood wonder and belief of Santa.
Maybe it was time for it to happen. Not what he would have preferred, but it may be time. And yet, he could not bring himself to believe it. There had to be a way.
The timer startled him out of his thoughts. Looking down, he thanked whatever was out there that he had actually finished the reports he needed to. Shutting off the timer, Aaron quickly sped around the room trying to keep his cool and calm demeanor as he collected his effects.
Making his way out, Hotch briefly threw a wave goodbye towards Dave who was still in his office that night. The drive home never felt so short. There were presents still in the back of his car from where he had to hide them from his son. Over the past few years, he had to get crafty about where he put the gifts he and Santa got for the boy because Jack loved to snoop.
Stepping inside the apartment, Aaron shut off the alarm system and was greeted by the most amazing sights, smells, and sounds. Cookies and holiday spices filtered through the air. Christmas carols and songs were pouring through a speaker nearby. And his girlfriend was standing next to his son as they were smudged here and there in cookie stuffs.
“Daddy!” Jack greeted his dad very similarly to how he greeted his girlfriend; barreling straight for his legs.
“Hey, bud. You having a good time in here?” Picking the boy up to hold on his hip, the elder Hotchner walked into the kitchen after dropping his briefcase by the door.
“Hey you. Glad to see that timer worked.” Her hands were being wiped off on a kitchen towel when he leaned in for a kiss.
“Yes it did. I see we had a fun day.” Aaron commented, setting down his son to go deposit his gun in the safe.
“Lots. We watched movies, and made cookies. It’s been so much fun having a little helper in here.” She beamed, helping Jack back up to where he could decorate the cookies again.
Pretty soon, they did have dinner on the table. Not as big or fancy as they would have the following evening, but a good, hearty dinner nonetheless. Aaron allowed Jack to stay up just long enough to watch “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” before ushering him off to sleep.
“But why? If Santa doesn’t come, why do I have to go to bed?” The boy lamented, reluctantly getting into his pajamas.
“You’ll never know if Santa will come unless you go to bed. Besides, I know Santa is coming. He’s got presents for her, you, me. Got presents for all of us.” Aaron reassured his son, pressing a kiss to his forehead.
“You believe in Santa, dad?” Jack asked with a small tilt of his head.
“Of course I do. How else do you always get what you ask for? Goodnight, Jack.” After leaving the room, Aaron quietly slipped out into the living room where his girlfriend had just finished hauling in the presents from the backseat of his car.
“He’ll be asleep soon,” he whispered, helping her to place the presents around the tree in the living room.
“Good,” she whispered back, “want a drink?”
He nodded, finishing the placement while she disappeared. Standing upright, Aaron held his lower back before seeing his girlfriend next to him. She was barely holding back a giggle as she held out his glass of whiskey to him.
“Don’t,” he warned her, taking the glass.
Tucking her underneath his arm, he lead her to the couch to watch one more movie before they, themselves, went off to bed. Aaron sagged against the plush cushions underneath his body. He could feel the stress over the last week or so melt away. His girlfriend held her own glass in her hands as she snuggled underneath his arm while “Die Hard” played on the screen in front of him.
“Thanks for being here with Jack. And for me.” He added, pressing a kiss to her head.
“Anything for you.” She pressed her own kiss to the small stretch of throat she could find above the line of the tshirt he had changed into.
This was exactly how Aaron wanted his Christmas, in fact all of his holidays. With his son, and girlfriend.

You were sure that ninety-nine percent of the time, you were babysitting little Jack Hotchner while his dad was out saving lives. You had entered the single father's life when he needed your help the most.
You knew Haley's sister, and she had recommended you when she couldn't watch the boy. At first, you were hesitant, seeing as though how hectic his work hours were, and you were still in college. But you were well graduated by now, and more than willing to watch Jack for days, even weeks on end, and it wasn't just because of your admiration of his father.
Was the whole 'babysitter having a crush on the father' thing a bit cliche? Of course it was, and you would feel ashamed if it wasn't for the way that he looked at you when he had gotten home.
Jack was sure that this would be another December without his father, and you were determined to distract the saddened boy by showing up to the apartment with all sorts of fun arts and crafts, and tonight, you guys were going to make some ornaments. Of course you didn't give him the glass kind, but the cheap wooden ones that were shaped in either a star or a tree, there wasn't much variety, but Jack seemed hellbent on putting as much detail onto the tree that he chose as he could.
"Do you think daddy will like it?" You heard him pipe up from besides you. You were working on an ornament of your own, your fingers wet with glue as a piece of a pipe cleaner stuck to it. The tree had a poorly drawn star on the top that was then filled in with yellow glitter glue. Beads were glued in place of the bulbs, some ranging from red, blue, to purple; it was a colourful mess and you loved it so much.
"It looks great buddy!" You praised him enthusiastically. You gently wove your finger through the white string that would soon be used to hang it up on the tree. "Once it dries, you wanna put it right next to your dad's FBI ornament?" You asked with a smile. He nodded with a small pout, beginning to rub his eye in a attempt to wash away the tiredness.
"Yeah." He said quietly. Your smile softened, gently setting the piece down as you gripped his tiny hand, "C'mon," You said, "Let's put you to bed."
He went down without a fight, you tucking him in as you placed a warm kiss to his forehead.
You wished that it could always be like this, you putting him to bed as you treated to you and Aaron's room, but it wasn't right, and you knew that it wasn't, but why did you want it so bad?
You began to decorate the tree that you had managed to get out from the hall closet that it was stuffed into. It wasn't anything too impressive, but it was good enough for you as you did as you promised, putting his father's FBI vest ornament near the very top. Your ears piqued when you heard the front door quietly open, shutting with faint click as you listened to Aaron kick off his shoes.
You knew the man must've been tired, and with all of the lights off, the only thing illuminating the entire apartment being the Christmas lights, you wouldn't be surprised if he just straight up passed out.
You watched as Aaron's eyes fell on to his messy dinning table, which had all sorts of fun things scattered on it. He picked of Jack's tree, examining it.
"Be careful," You called out to him softly, "It might be wet still. I hadn't put Jack down that long ago, if you want to see him. There's also dinner in the fridge, it should still be warm, but y'know, it's cold and all that." You rambled aimlessly. "Thank you." Aaron had finally said, stomping over to you.
"You didn't have to do this." Motioning to your splurging of Christmas decorations. You just shrugged, grinning at him. "It was the least I could do, Aaron. Plus, I like doing this, and it was totally worth it, because Jack had a fun time too." You could see a grin of his own tugging at the corner of his lips. "Is that so?" You nodded, "Yep. Who do you think that tree is for?"
And you could've sworn you saw his eyes light up.

Day 11: Christmas Party - Spencer x Reader
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Ficmas 2020
Listen to my Christmas Playlist!
Summary: Ficmas Day 11
Word Count: 1.7k
Pairings: Spencer Reid x Reader
Tumblr media
Rossi was holding his annual Christmas party for the team, and the two of you were excited to spend a nice evening with the people you considered family. You stood on Rossi’s doorstep, knocking on the big wooden door to his house. Spencer’s arm was linked with your yours and he held the bottle of wine you brought in the other.
When Rossi opened the door, he pulled you both in for a hug. You heard muffled voices and festive music pervading from the other room, and the warm smells of Rossi’s cooking filled your senses. Spencer handed him the wine, and he thanked you both before taking your jackets to be hung up.
Spencer grabbed your hand and the two of you walked into the living room to greet everyone. After saying your hellos, Rossi offered to get you guys drinks, to which you happily obliged before everyone moved to the dining room for dinner. You all drank and laughed over Rossi’s delicious meal, enjoying the relaxing time you got to spend with your friends.
After dinner, you all retired back to the living room. Everyone was slightly buzzed, having had one too many spiked eggnogs. You plopped onto the couch next to Penelope and Emily, Spencer sitting on the adjacent couch next to Derek. JJ and Will sat together in a large chair across from you while Rossi took his seat in his large armchair, lighting a cigar. He offered one to Hotch, who politely declined.
After another hour so of exchanging stories and jokes, JJ and Will decided to head home to their boys, Aaron taking the opportunity to go home to Jack as well.
“Oh! Be sure to tell Henry and Michael we can’t wait to see them next week”, Spencer called out.
“We will”, JJ reassured.
“Henry hasn’t stopped asking if it’s almost time to go sledding with Uncle Spencer and Aunty (Y/n)”, Will added on, laughing. A bright smile grew on Spencer’s face, and you looked over at him, your heart swelling at how much he loved his godsons. Penelope noticed the way you were looking at Spencer and placed her hand on yours to get your attention as everyone was saying their goodbyes.
“Have you guys ever thought about it?”, she whispered, loud enough so only you would hear.
“Thought about what?”, you questioned.
“About little baby geniuses?”, she asked with a giddy smirk. You felt heat rush to your face, and you stole a glance at Spencer, who was in a conversation with Derek and Hotch.
“I mean”, you smiled causing Penelope to squeal. “We’ve discussed it”, you trailed off. Penelope gasped and pulled you in for a hug. Emily noticed and leaned over asking what was going on.
“Oh nothing”, Penelope gleamed, “Just our resident genius and beloved (Y/n) are going to have beautiful little babies”. Emily’s face lit up and you laughed, shushing them as you nudged Penelope’s side.
“We haven’t decided anything”, you whispered, looking back at Spencer to make sure he hadn’t heard anything.
“But you’ve discussed it”, Penelope said, raising her eyebrows.
“Yes, but-”, you chided.
“But you’ve discussed it”, Emily smirked, cutting you off.
“I hate both of you”, you huffed, holding back a smile. You looked back at Spencer, noticing he was finishing his conversation and Hotch patted him on the back before leaving.
After everyone bid their goodbyes, Rossi walked Hotch, JJ, and Will out, a small lull falling upon the room. Spencer looked over at you, sending you a quick wink. You smiled, sending one back. Penelope watched the adorable gesture and smiled, nudging you. You looked over at her and glared, silently telling her to not bring up your previous conversation.
Spencer noticed how red your face was, and came over, sitting down beside you. It was a bit of a tight fit with all four of you on the couch, so Spencer made sure to pull you close to him.
“You okay?”, he asked, placing the back of his hand on your flushed cheek.
“Yeah”, you said curtly, feigning innocence. He searched your eyes for a moment, scrunching his nose.
“Okay”, he nodded. He relaxed further into the couch, causing you to lean further into his chest.
“You guys are so cute”, she cooed, admiring the way Spencer looked down at you in his arms.
“Yeah, I got a good one”, you chuckled, turning your head to face Spencer. He blushed slightly and placed a kiss on your cheek. You snuggled further into him, slowly rubbing your hand over his arm that was draped across your torso.
You guys talked and laugh for a few more hours, relishing in the opportunity to hang out without the horrors of work looming over your heads. You yawned, the eggnog having caught up with you, and you closed your eyes resting your head on Spencer’s shoulder.
“I think we are going to head out”, Spencer said, rubbing your back. You sighed, nodding.
“Yeah, I’m getting a bit tired too”, Emily said, looking to Garcia, who was her ride home. Everyone nodded, getting up to say their goodbyes. You went over to thank Rossi for a lovely night, who pulled you in for a hug. Before going to say goodbye to Penelope and Emily, you noticed Spencer and Derek standing in the corner, their backs to the rest of the room. You were about to go over and see what they were up to, but Penelope pulled you into a huge hug before you could say anything.
“Please keep me updated if anymore discussing happens”, she gleamed.
“I will”, you laughed, pulling back. “But we haven’t even discussed getting married or anything like that, so don’t expect any big updates”, you said, hugging Emily. Both women just smiled, causing you to shake your head, trying to hide your own smile at the thought.
“You ready babe?”, you asked, making your way towards Spencer. He quickly spun around his hands behind his back.
“Y-yeah, just um, can you give me a minute”. You looked at him quizically before nodding. Derek placed his hand on Spencer’s shoulder, who smiled at him, almost relieved. Derek walked over to you, Emily, and Penelope, placing his arm around your shoulder.
“Here, let me walk my three favorite ladies out”, he said, ushering the three of you to the door. Rossi handed all of you your jackets, wishing you a safe drive home.
When you made it outside, Derek made sure Emily and Garcia got into their car safely, before coming over to you waiting by your car for Spencer.
“Is Spence okay?”, you asked as he came to lean against the car with you. You pulled your jacket around you tighter, the cold winter air blowing against you.
“Pretty Ricky? Yeah, he’s great”, Derek reassured.
“Then what were you two scheming?”, you laughed. Derek paused, looking to the doorway, which Spencer was currently walking out of.
“Nothing bad”, he smirked nodding to your boyfriend, “I promise”. He gave you a quick hug while you rolled your eyes at his vague response. He patted Spencer on the back goodnight before getting in his own car to head home.
“You ready?”, Spencer asked. You nodded, getting into the car.
“Tonight was nice”, you said as Spencer started the car. “Even though we see everyone all day, I feel like we never get to just hang out and catch up like that”. Spencer hummed, nodding at your words. He turned on the radio, the gentle holiday music filling the car. You closed your eyes, leaning into the headrest of the seat. Spencer looked over at you, admiring how peaceful you looked.
“So”, Spencer cleared his throat, breaking the silence. You opened your eyes and turned your attention towards him. “Little baby geniuses?”, he smirked, trying to stifle his laughter. You gasped, rolling your head towards the window, not wanting him to physically see your embarrassment.
“How much of that did you hear?”, you groaned while giggling along with him.
“Enough”, he said simply. You shook your head laughing as he peeked over you, a small giggle leaving his lips.
“I’m going to kill Penelope”, you chuckled, rolling your eyes.
“Don’t”, Spencer said, grabbing your hand, causing your eyes to shoot over to him. “I must say she does have a point”, he smirked, glancing at you. You took in a sharp breath at his words, your heart rate picking up again.
“Really?”, you asked earnestly.
“Of course”, he squeezed your hand. You looked at him, the passing street lights highlighting his face as you drove in the night. You bit your lip, your heart never having felt so full before.
“Um”, you started, Spencer looking over at you. “What were you and Derek talking about, if you don’t mind me asking?”, a playful smile on your lips. You noticed how Spencer tensed up slightly, and he hoped you couldn’t see how red his face was.
“Oh, um, I kind of do mind?”, he laughed. You squinted your eyes at him, not understanding why he couldn’t tell you.
“Alright, be all cryptic”, you laughed, still holding his hand.
“I was just”, he started. “I was asking him some advice on your Christmas present”, he said, squeezing your hand.
“Oh”, you giggled. “You could have just said that”. You brought his hand up to your mouth, placing a kiss on the back of his hand.
“Yeah, I know”, he smirked. “But based on me finding out about these little baby geniuses through Penelope I rather not take any chances of spoiling the surprise”, he teased.
“Okay, fair enough”, you laughed, resting your head on his shoulder as he put the car in park, having made it back to your apartment. You both got out of the car, Spencer wrapping his arm around you as you walked towards the building. You rested your head on his shoulder, placing one of your arms on his back. Spencer snuck a glance at you, excited, and slightly nervous for you to get your gift from him.
What he didn’t tell you, however, was that it wasn’t just any Christmas present. It was a very special one that came in a tiny velvet box that he has had on him every day for the past month, just waiting for the perfect moment to give it to you.

Milk and Cookies (December 19th) Jake “Hangman” Seresin
Watching the nieces and nephews, Hangman feels a weird feeling making the cookies for Santa.
Mr. And Mrs. Claus (December 20th) Tom “Iceman” Kazansky
Oh the running joke on the base about the one couple that likes to decorate for the holidays…
Spirit (December 21st) David Loki
Getting Loki into the Christmas spirit is like pulling teeth. But a few days off might change that.
Online Shopping (December 22nd) James “Bucky” Barnes
Trapped in his own home, there’s very little that he can do to express himself, or show that expression to anyone else. But Sergeant Barnes ain’t no quitter; he just has to navigate a new world.
Seasons Greetings (December 23rd) Remy LeBeau/ Gambit
Being so far away from home at the holidays, it was not something that most people could do. But leave it to a Cajun in love with another Cajun to bring home to him.
‘Twas the Night Before… (December 24th) Poly!Lost Boys
Christmas Eve is finally here, and Laddie is being introduced to a Christmas classic whether the boys like it or not.
Oh Christmas Day (December 25th) Sean Renard
There was something magical about spending your first Christmas together, especially after not celebrating for so long.

𝙳𝙰𝚈 𝚃𝚆𝙴𝙻𝚅𝙴: Christmas Movies w/ Aaron Hotchner
a/n: i couldn't help myself and made this a continuation of the ornament fic, but this can be read separately!
masterlist | ficmas masterlist | AO3

Aaron doesn't remember the last time he's ever been on a date, let alone go out with anyone that wasn't Haley.
He was conflicted, because he knew that his ex-wife would want him to be happy and find love within someone new, but Jack's babysitter? The one that's been there since she had passed away? It was a battle of morals as he asked you out. Of course, you said yes.
Now here you two were, cuddled up on his couch as Jack went through some Christmas movies you had brought over from your house. It had been a few days since Jack had made that ornament for him, and it sat prettily near that FBI vest ornament, exactly like you had promised.
You both saw him get up from the floor, a dvd case in hand as he waddled over to the both of you.
"What'd you pick bud?" Aaron sounded from your side. Jack handed him the movie, the man laughing a bit as he saw what he had given him. "The Nightmare Before Christmas? Are you sure? This one might be a little scary." You scoffed with no malice, sitting up from his side so you can talk to the little boy too. "Scary, Aaron? C'mon, he's a big boy, aren't you, Jack?" You asked him with a smile, Jack standing there proudly as he declared that he was. "Alright, if you say so." Aaron relented.
The little boy cuddled into the blanket near the end of your feet— his choice — his eyes trained on the TV as he 'ooed' and 'awwed' at the bizarre film. Personally, the movie had always freaked you out just a little bit, the claymation putting you off as you pressed yourself more into Aaron's side.
"You look more uncomfortable than he is." Aaron mumbled into your ear. You shivered as his hot breath fanned against it, but nonetheless you turned your head to look at him, a slight pout in your face as the back of your hand lightly hit his chest. "Shush. He wanted to watch it, and some sacrifices must be made." You whispered. You couldn't see it that well, but Aaron was smiling softly. "I'll let you pick the next movie." He said before pressing a kiss to the side of your head.
"You better."

Day 20: Sleigh Ride - Spencer x Reader
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Ficmas 2020
Listen to my Christmas Playlist!
Summary: Ficmas Day 20
Word Count: 1.6k
Pairings: Spencer Reid x Reader
Tumblr media
Spencer started the car, pulling down the visor to shield his eyes from the setting sun before he pulled out of the parking lot of the FBI headquarters. As he drove, he gently placed his hand on your thigh, and you smiled, resting your hand on top of his. You let out a sigh of content and leaned into the headrest. You closed your eyes, the gentle hum of the engine mixed with the soft Christmas music playing through the radio relaxing you.
Noticing you had been in the car for a while, you opened your eyes. You didn’t recognize the surroundings passing you by in the window, and when you brought your eyes to Spencer, he was driving with a soft smile across his lips.
“Spence”, you looked at him confused, “where are we going?”. Spencer glanced over at you with a smirk, and without responding, brought his eyes back to the road. You sat up, turning your body towards him.
“Spencer”, you said, half-serious and half-laughing. “What’s happening? Where are we?”. Spencer glanced back at you, a grin forming across his lips.
“It’s a surprise”, he hummed. You smiled, playfully narrowing your eyes at him. “Just relax”, he laughed, “we’ll be there soon”.
“Should I be scared?”, you joked.
“No”, he giggled, “i-it’s a good surprise. At least I hope so”.
“Okay”, you said warily, letting out a breathy laugh. Your mind swirled with ideas as to what he had planned, but you decided to take his advice and just let yourself be surprised.
About fifteen minutes later, Spencer put on his blinker and turned down a small dirt road lined with trees. Your eyes widened, extremely curious as to where he was taking you.
“You aren’t going to murder me are you?”, you teased. “Because I’ll have you know, I happen to be dating the smartest guy at the FBI, and he’ll find you if you do”. Spencer chuckled and rolled his eyes.
“No, (Y/n)”, he said sarcastically. “I’m just trying to do a nice thing. I promise”. He looked over at you, his tender eyes warming your heart.
“Alright, I’m sorry”, you said, giving Spencer an apologetic smile. Spencer took your hand in his and brought it up to his mouth, placing a gentle kiss to the back of it.
“It’s okay”, he grinned. “And, anyway, we’re here”. Spencer pulled up to a beautiful old inn, and your eyes widened. It looked like you were in a storybook with how charming the old-fashioned building was, adorned with white string lights that twinkled now that the sun had set. There was a big red barn next to the inn, and you smiled, noticing the wide wrap-around porch on the house.
“Wow”, you whispered. “It’s beautiful, but”, you turned towards him, “why are we here?”.
“Well, I thought we could have a little getaway”, he smiled sheepishly. “I know we both still had some vacation days saved up, a-and I talked to Hotch and he was happy to give us a couple of days off and-”. You cut off Spencer’s rambling, pulling him into a kiss. He melted against your lips, both of you smiling into each other.
“Thank you”, you whispered against his mouth, “this is really sweet”. Spencer smiled, a slight blush rising along his neck at your loving gaze. You leaned back slightly, squeezing Spencer’s hand. “But, um. We don’t have any clothes”, you reminded him.
“Oh, um, no, I-I packed and brought our go bags, along with some, other supplies”, he quirked a smile.
“Supplies?”, you questioned, raising your eyebrow.
“Yeah”, he nodded, with a bashful grin, “supplies”. You laughed, shaking your head at how adorable he was.
“Alright, what next on this mystery getaway?”, you asked with a wide grin on your lips.
“Well, we have an appointment in about”, Spencer glanced down at his watch, “ten minutes, so we can check-in and give them our bags and then head on over.”
“An appointment?”, you smirked. Spencer just nodded in response. “Alright, mystery man, let’s go so we don’t miss our appointment”.
After getting the bags from the trunk, you and Spencer walked hand in hand up the snow-covered driveway to the entrance of the inn. The inside was even more charming than the exterior. There was a golden chandelier above your heads and intricate rugs covered the hardwood floors. A pianist sat in the corner of the room, playing light holiday music, and a huge Christmas tree, covered in sparkling ornaments resided near the roaring fireplace. The air smelled like cinnamon, and you couldn’t help the giddy feeling in your chest.
Spencer had told you to wait by the door as he checked you guys in, claiming to not want to accidentally spoil anything he had planned. You watched as he gave the people at the wooden reception desk your bags, and in return, he was handed what you assumed was your room key. You saw him nod his head in thanks, before turning back towards you. He smiled, reaching out for your hand.
“Where is this appointment?”, you asked with wide eyes.
“Outside”, Spencer hummed, motioning towards the door. You glanced up at him and smiled, albeit still very confused.
“Lead the way mystery man”, you teased. Spencer chuckled and took you outside. He held your hand, leading you towards the barn. When you turned around the side of the inn, you saw a dark green sleigh, drawn by two Clydesdale horses. Your mouth opened at the sight, letting out an inaudible breath. Spencer led you both towards the man standing by the sleigh.
“Reid for two?”, he asked.
“Yes”, Spencer smiled. You turned towards Spencer, not able to tell if your heart was going to burst from love or excitement. He looked down at you with a slight smirk, clearly happy that you were enjoying the surprise thus far.
“Excellent”, the coachman said. “Right this way”, he held out his hand for you, helping you into the sleigh. You climbed up, Spencer following behind you. When you sat down on the plush, velvet seats, the coachman handed you both the thickest blanket you had seen in your life. Spencer thanked him and took it before draping it across your laps. You leaned in close to him as he wrapped his arm around your shoulders.
“This is amazing”, you whispered into his chest, still in disbelief that you were currently sat in a horse-drawn sleigh.
“Is it a good surprise?”, Spencer asked as the coachman sat on his seat and the horses started to move.
“The best”, you hummed. Spencer smiled and placed a kiss on your head, pulling you further into him.
“You folks doing alright back there?”, the coachman asked.
“Yes, thank you”, Spencer replied.
“Just let me know if you need anything”, he nodded, leading the sleigh down a path through the woods. Each tree was wrapped in twinkling lights, and Spencer watched as your face lit up under the warm glow it provided. Your mouth was wide open as you smiled, taking in the beautiful scenery. You lifted up the blanket, snuggling further under its warmth. The light trot of the horses being the only sound alongside you and Spencer’s breathing. You and Spencer held onto each other, enjoying the magical feeling that surrounded you both.
“Thank you for this”, you said after a while, breaking the silence. Spencer beamed down at you, his amber eyes reflecting the sparkling lights in the trees.
“Anything to see that smile”, he said, leaning down and connecting your lips. You languidly moved your lips against his, basking in the warmth his breath provided. When you eventually pulled apart, he pecked your lips again, before bringing you back into his side. You let out a deep, content breath, feeling as though it was just you and Spencer, and the rest of the universe was revolving around the two of you.
“So um”, you said, turning so your chin was resting on his shoulder, “when can I find out what these supplies entail?”.
“All in good time”, Spencer giggled, as you bit your lip.
“Well, you have a lot to live up to”, you hummed. “After taking me on a magical sleigh ride through a glimmering forest, I’m expecting big things”, you teased.
“Based on my data, it should exceed expectations”, he giggled. Your smile faltered at his words, and Spencer could feel your gaze as you locked eyes with him.
“Spence”, you said seriously, taking his hand in yours, “This is the best gift ever, seriously, this is the nicest, best surprise ever. You don’t need to do anything else, this is already so much. I was just joking”. Spencer’s face softened at your words, and it took every fiber in him to not just tell you his plans then and there.
“I know”, he smiled. “And I know you’re joking, but I’m not”. He looked deep into your eyes, his love for you almost palpable. “(Y/n), you deserve everything, and I’ll do anything to make sure you get that”. You felt tears well in your eyes as the pure love you held for the man beside you consumed your entire being.
“But, Spence, you don’t have to, you are my everything”. Spencer smiled, cupping your face with his hand and running his thumb over your cheek.
“I know”, he said, looking deep into your eyes, “but I want to”. You placed a tender kiss on Spencer’s lips, feeling his smile against your lips as a stray tear rolled down your cheek. Spencer wiped it away, bringing you back into his chest, excited for the days ahead.
-------------
Note: fun fact, this is based on a true story, and the person who brought me to go on said sleigh ride was not aware that i am extremely allergic to horses, so i spent the whole time sneezing, but it was still really fun and magical.
