#OnThisDay November 17, 1998
Timbaland featuring Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott and Magoo release "Here We Come" via radio airplay. It was not granted a physical release in the United States until March 2, 1999. The music video had premiered on MTV2 mid October 1998.
The music video follows a synopsis loosely based on the early Spider-Man comic series and later in the video features cameo appearances from Ginuwine and Aaliyah. The video was directed by Francis Lawrence.
DID YOU KNOW FUN FACT:
I personally reached out to both Aaliyah's hair stylist at that time (Tre' Major) and Video Photographer (Arnold Turner) and found that the entire Superfriends clique knew the shoot would be using a lot of "red" and wore all red and black to match. However, were not prepared for just how red everything would turn out. The video still turned out VERY great and was a success, however behind the scenes, it was a bit of a nightmare that cost time and money.
Tre' shared that he styled Aaliyah's hair with red highlights and that she looked very good! He shared with me personally that Aaliyah was super excited and loved the look but both her and him were upset when they saw the playback and noticed that they put ALL this work into their outfits and hair that you can't even make out anything.
Turner shared " I was on set. To the best of my recollection, the direction of the video was shot in infrared film and lighting for special effects. 'They' wanted the stills to have the same effect. At the time, not having much experience with infrared... the images came out very red with no room for correction".
If you look very closely at the video, you can see that Aaliyah is indeed wearing highlights. There's just too much red to see the cuteness of it.
