It comes with a price
Next part to the bad form series. I dont own the gifs. sorry it took so long to come out with another chapter and it is probably going to be a short one in comparison to what it should be...
“Killian?”
“Mila?” Killian groaned delirious and exhausted from almost drowning and the fight with the mermaids that had left him with poison coursing through his blood. He looked up to see the upside down image of the briary vines in front of him and the edge of a pair of leather pants tucked into a pair of boots before everything faded to black again. All of a sudden he felt a hand lightly tapping his face and heard a voice that was all too familiar. A voice he’d been missing since the moment it left him.
“Killian look at me. You’ve lost a lot of blood and this is going to hurt but I have to heal your wound or you’ll die.” You told him stripping his vest and shirt away from his shoulder as gently as possible. Had his shirt been any other color than black you’d have been able to tell exactly how much blood he lost since you got him out of the water but with everything soaked it was damn near impossible.
“Y/n…. How?” He started but you shushed him.
“I will explain everything later.”
“But I thought. Aaaghh!” he let out a pained scream as you healed his would with your magic. This would hurt you, but it was necessary to heal him and unless you were intimate again no one would ever know what your healing magic costed you. As his body healed you felt the burn of the scar imprinting itself onto your shoulder as well and felt the pain and warmth of blood dribbling down your body mixed with the toxins that came from a mermaid’s nails. Eventually the pain became too great for you and you passed out alongside him from the intensity of it. The only evidence of what happened on his body was a set of scraggly scars where the gashes had been and your body now had a matching scar hidden right below the pinkish and blue black tint on your blouse from where you’d bled into it and the mermaid’s poison had leaked out of the wound you had taken from him. It wouldn’t kill you. You’d found that much out before when you healed Baelfire.
You were out picking berries when Pan had caught up with Baelfire. You’d been high up on the cliffs when you heard them fighting and dropped off the side to help. Bae was fighting for his life then all of a sudden it went silent. By the time you realized what happened Pan was gone and Baelfire was tangled up in the dreamshade patch on the other side of mermaid cove. You pulled him out but he’d been cut and scratched all over his body and the poison was well on its way to doing its work. He started having seizures before you could find the cure so you did the last thing you’d thought would work out of desperation… calling on your magic. You nearly died that time but when you woke up Baelfire was gone and you were left with scars in the exact same places where his deeper cuts from the briars had been including a jagged edged scar that wrapped around your left wrist and on your neck just below your jawline.
The next memory was different. It was real for the most part but it was tainted. Like it wasn’t from your mind. It wasn’t the way you remembered how it had gone. It was from the night you were on the ship alone with Killian. Instead of remembering the dark heady sound of his laughter and the way he’d smiled at you and how some of the rum had dripped off of his lips you were seeing yourself. The way your hair fell onto your shoulders the distinctive look of terror and how it eased into slightly drunken amusement and the moment your eyes went from looking at him to actually seeing the man in front of you. You were feeling the soft lines that made up who you were and smelling the natural perfume of your skin which made him think of honeysuckle and wildflowers. The longer this went on the more you realized that somehow you were reliving Killian’s memory. Then it made it to the next morning where you were tracing the lines on his tattoos and then leaving his side and you felt it. There was a sharp agonizing pain in your chest like you were losing something precious and then…. Blackness.
You woke up gasping for air and clawing at the spot on your shoulder where the scar was as it was still burning your skin.
“Easy love.” You heard the familiar voice of the pirate from somewhere out of your line of sight.
“I’d prefer it if you stick to lass or y/n.” You clipped.
“Well I see someone woke up on the wrong side of the bunk.” He bit back.
“Seems I did that months ago now doesn’t it. If it weren't for you I wouldn’t be in this mess right now. I wouldn’t have magic and be a danger to my family and my town. I wouldn’t be... forget it. where are my clothes?” You demanded.
“You had a fever and I couldn’t think of a more efficient way to cool you off. They are on the chair.” He gestured to a spot across the room where the pair of trousers and the blouse were waiting for you obviously expecting you to walk over but you just waved your hand and you were clothed. You felt the familiar itch of the repercussions for you magic and then it disappeared.
“I see now why the crocodile wasn’t keen on letting you go. How did you get the scars?” He gestured to the places where he would have obviously seen the vine marks on you and seen the claw marks from the merfolk that he’d caused on your body.
“How else? Dreamshade, it isn’t exactly kind to you if you manage to survive it. As for the scratches how do you think you made it out of the mermaid’s lagoon alive?” You stood and wobbled a moment not used to being off solid ground again and also dealing with vertigo from the fever.
“You mean to tell me you fell into that bloody vine and survived it?!” he was quite obviously shocked by the information.
“No. That would be impossible without dark magic or immortality. Someone else fell in and I saved them from dying. In return I was scarred. All magic comes with a price I guess.” You said sardonically.
All magic comes with a price dearie... the words cut through his mind and he winced.
“What did you say?” His head whipped around.
“All magic comes with a price. It is something that Pan told me when he found me barely alive outside of the vines. I think he expected me to die then. Why? does it mean something to you?” You asked him growing concerned. Instead of answering you he walked back out of the cabin slamming the door and left you to your thoughts.
*********Baelfire POV**************
Tinkerbell was the one to notify him of the ships arrival and in spite of his rules and precautions to keep Pan from finding him, here he was putting himself at risk to see it for himself. He wasn’t even sure how it had gotten here, but it was here and it was real. That could mean only one thing, there was a way in so there had to be a way out of Neverland.
“Tink are you sure that they can be trusted?” He crawled back into the cave that he and the ex-fairy shared. For some reason Pan couldn’t find this place and since they both were running from him he’d decided to stick by her side. Her magic had been spent a long time ago so he didn’t see any harm in it. It was people like Pan on this island that were the problem, not Tinkerbell.
“I’m not sure of anything at this moment Baelfire. I don’t even know if they can get us off the island, but what choice do we have?” The fairy argued.
“Point proven.”
“Baelfire there’s one more thing. The captain of that ship... He seems to be attached to that sorceress that saved your life. He took great care in taking her back to the ship. If you think that is a problem we can find another way out.”
“How Tink? It isn’t like its common for ships to appear out of thin air in this place. Adults don’t come here. They typically can’t find it. It isn’t on normal map nor is there a large sign that says ‘this way out’. We can’t wait for another opportunity.” Baelfire snapped. The idea of working with anyone that favored magic wielders made him anxious but what could he do? Tinkerbell had already been trapped here for god knows how long and he wasn’t Pan’s favorite person because he’d interfered with the Darling family being taken and undermined him more than once. He also couldn’t pretend that the other boys weren’t a threat either. After all it had been Felix who’d thrown him into the Dreamshade.
“Alright. I’m sorry. I just know how you feel about magic and if she is involved there is a lot of magic going to be involved. A lot of unpredictable magic.” Tinkerbell said.
“What do you mean by ‘unpredictable’?” He asked warily. When she got quiet and tried not to answer him he grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her violently.
“Tinkerbell if you know something you have to tell me.” He demanded again.
“Her magic is different Baelfire. I was there the day she got here. You should have seen it. It was like she was still talking to someone when she just walked through the air and appeared here. Normal magic can’t do something like that. You have to intend to go somewhere or do something for it to work. It is a matter of will power or a curse bestowed on people like your father. It is not something you can use it willy nilly and not suffer a consequence until you do something major. In her case however it is that way. That makes her more dangerous than Pan but it also means that if the ship isn’t our way off the island then that sorceress y/n is.”
“No! I refuse to allow someone else to use magic to get me the things I want. Enchanted items or portals are one thing, but I will never allow someone to use spells for or against me ever again.” Baelfire replied his temper getting the better of him. That was the problem with being trapped in a place like Neverland no matter how long he’d been here he was still just a kid and the things that haunted his childhood still affected him.
