OUR WILDS PLANETARY CHART - AFFICHE A3
► FICHIER PDF ICI

ABOUT ISAT. I'm an anxious mess who can't make a decision to save my life + get scared super easily. Should I play the game or watch a playthrough? Like. Sometimes I get frustrated with playthroughs for games who ask you to make a lot of choices because they're not the choices I would make but. then I have to make the choices myself and. Oh no the quencies. Anyway what's the best way to experience ISAT in your opinion
from the sounds of it i think there's a good chance you would be able to enjoy playing through ISAT regardless of those concerns! that's just my opinion though so i'll try and give you as much information as i can without giving you any highly-specific spoilers so you can decide for yourself:
siffrin isn't really a protagonist meant for you to project yourself onto! their personality is consistent regardless of what you do, it's more like you are viewing the world and the game's events through their eyes and their thoughts rather than crafting his personality for yourself through your choices, and there aren't really any Consequences(TM) for taking any 'incorrect' paths, nor are there any alternative routes or good/bad endings, you just get to sit back and watch them gradually spiral out of control :) you aren't really meant to make the choices that YOU would make in his shoes, so much as you're observing siffrin as they make their own. if that perspective helps at all
EVERY single dialogue option throughout the game can be chosen and explored because of the timeloop mechanic! if you ever want to go back and see what you may have missed the first time you can always loop back and go through the conversation again to explore the alternatives; in fact the game goes out of its way to encourage you to do this to get all the information you could possibly need to progress the story. i will say though that everything past Act 4 is a point of no return so if you're REALLY worried about finding everything you possibly can i would just make a copy of your save once you reach A3 or A4 so you can go back to explore any loose ends you may not have tied up the first time.
i'm something of an RPG buff so i am more than familiar with getting stuck and frustrated... i would say the most trudging and grindy part of the game is buffing your party up in order to defeat The King. but that is THE hardest part of the game imo and it really only gets easier after that as siffrin in particular becomes an unstoppable beast of a party member
in terms of scary stuff, the steam page lines out all the content warnings pretty concisely, but i will elaborate further and say that all of the content warnings posted are related to story events that you would be facing whether or not you played the game yourself or watched a playthrough :3
i'm the type to prefer playing a game myself over watching gameplay, so my opinion may be a little skewed in that regard, but with ISAT in particular i would say that it... doesn't make much of a difference overall which way you decide to go about it? just because the game gives you so many opportunities to go back and try again if you want to do something differently, and regardless of how you go about things there is only one ultimate conclusion to be reached in the story, so really the main appeal of watching a playthrough of it would be if you're worried about completionism and seeing EVERY SINGLE dialogue choice you can possibly find. but whatever decision you make ISAT is a really really good game and it excites me that you're interested in it :3

What's A3
I'm SO glad you asked!
A3! (Act! Addict! Actors!) is a mobile game that was launched in Japan in 2017. (It also got an English version in 2019, but that was discontinued in 2021 and fully shut down in 2022. Sigh.)
The game follows Mankai Company, an acting troupe comprised of twenty (later twenty-four) cute and conventionally attractive male characters, an assortment of side characters, and You, the theatre's director (default name Izumi Tachibana). You play by collecting cards (souped-up jpegs) of the characters through the in-game gambling system or through playing "events" aka limited-time competitions, leveling up your cards' power stats, and then using them to compete in events so you can get more cards like some sort of gacha-based Sisyphean boulder.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ahem. While the gameplay itself is pretty simplistic - while it can get competitive, it only requires a little bit of strategizing and time management on the player's part. You can literally play while also scrolling through tumblr - the main appeal comes from the story and characters, who are all very fun and interesting. Each character feels nuanced and in-depth, and one of my favorite things about this fandom is the sheer love people have for their faves, whether it's expressed through fanart, fanfiction, memes, or analysis. Despite the premise, the story is actually very light on romance with more of a focus on found family, which I find refreshing. (Don't worry, the romance can still be there if you want it to be XD.) Explaining what I love about each character would be another post entirely, so in conclusion, I'll leave you with these links.
Yaycupcake - the A3 wiki, an absolute godsend, has fan translations of most stories. To get started, read the prologue and Acts 1-4 of the main story, then head on over to the events, which have eleven-episode ministories and exclusive cards with their own backstage stories
This post - links to an archive of the official English translation (highly recommended)
Obligatory spotify playlist link
If you do want to actually download the game, you can do so off the Japan app store using an APK if you're an android user. If you're an iphone user...I can't help you :/. I also recommend downloading a screen translator app if you don't know Japanese, if only so you don't accidentally delete your progress.
Aside from the game, we also have an anime (which I cannot, in good faith, recommend), several stageplays (better, but can be difficult to track down), and a movie (that I haven't seen).
That pretty much covers it? Sorry you unlocked the rambly infodump haha but we're always excited to see interest in our little acting blorbo simulator ^_^

A3! Event Translation - The Twelve Heavenly Generals of the Dawn (8/11)
Tumblr media
━━━━━━━━━
Sakyo: .....Understood. What's going on?
Itaru: Well you see.....even though customers are flocking towards the larger companies, that still means many people will be in this area.
Itaru: I think we should be able to make good use of that fact.
Sakyo: For now, let's just gather everyone else here.
Itaru: Nah, I'm sure that everyone is probably having fun going to all sorts of places, so maybe we should think about countermeasures first.
Sakyo: Your timing to start being hesitant is weird for someone who usually doesn't hesitate.
Sakyo: I'll contact you as soon as I can.
-------------------------------
Itaru: Sorry for making everyone gather here even though there's still time before the stage starts.
Homare: Please don't worry about it. However...... I understand. People go to the booths of the bigger companies instead, huh.
Tsumugi: It definitely would be nice if we could get people to take a look at our booth as well.
Tenma: I guess the first thing that comes to mind is to wear our character's costumes and acting as a guide to attract customers or something?
Muku: That's true. I've done something like that before.
Itaru: Yup. But instead of just being a guide to the exhibition booth, I wanted to do something more like......
Tumblr media
Homare: Fumu, I wonder if there's a way to put this to good use? There's no one here right now, it's a shame.
Director: The demo station? It's true that nobody's at the demo station right now.
Mochinaga: Some people try out the demo version there, but it's not that many now.
Itaru: Then how about directing them to the demo station......and like giving advice on things they might not understand?
Itaru: In order to gain the interest of game lovers, it's a must to show them the gameplay.
Muku: In that case, how about taking a video of it and uploading it to your official social media accounts?
Sakyo: You have a point, the dancing video on TikTak became a hot topic.
Tumblr media
Itaru: What do you think about this plan, Mochinaga-san?
Mochinaga: Everyone.....thank you very much. If you're all okay with it, then please do it.......!
Tenma: Nice, let's get started right away. We'll need to change into our costumes firstly.
Tsumugi: Yup, that's right.
Itaru: Director-san, wait a moment.
Director: Yes, what's up?
Itaru: Director-san, would you like to play at the demo station until we all get back?
Director: .......Eh?
Itaru: I hope it can attract at least some interest from customers. I'll be back soon after changing.
Director: I understand that part, but by myself!?
Itaru: I'll get back to you ASAP, so if you could please.
Director: (Eeeeh! H-he left......)
Director: (But to make the booth look more exciting......yeah, I'll help out so that lots and lots of people can see it......!)
Mochinaga: I'll be here too, so if you have any questions please let me know.
Director: I'll be in your care...!
----------------------
Director: Eetto, now that I have the card, the next step is to....
Visitor A: Eehh, that looks kinda interesting. Maybe I should give it a try.
Visitor B: Ooooh~, the skill effects are so cool!
Director: (Ah, I got a little too engrossed in the game and other people started coming over to play at the demo station)
Mochinaga: I guess it's true that if you see someone else playing, you're more likely to want to try it yourself.
Visitor C: Uhhhh..... where do I go to get this item.....?
???: "You should go further into the forest"
Visitor C: Eh? Eeeeeeeeh!? SUZAKU!?
Itaru: "If you're in the forest, you'll surely be able to get items different from what's available in the village"
Tumblr media
Visitor C: Y-yes! I'll go there now!
Director: (Ah, everyone's finished changing!)
Tenma: "Ho, a lot of people are visiting"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sakyo: "What's wrong? Are you worried about us? If that's the case, why don't you come over here"
Visitor D: Uwa, so cool.....!
Visitor E: Let's take a look at this booth.
Director: (As expected, the costumes are gorgeous, and just seeing them in character is enough to catch the attention of the audience)
Visitor F: Ah! I've seen that character on TikTak!
Visitor G: Me too! It's from that dancing video. They're a character from this game.
Visitor H: Woah, I think I'll try out the demo station.
Director: (Yeah, it feels like it'll go well. We're stealing the hearts of our customers!)

One thing I've been talking about for a while that's entirely a personal gripe I have with the game is A3's event system and how draining it's gotten to play events. I had a little conversation earlier about the game's income declining over the years and I do honestly believe that and the decrease in player counts in recent events are largely because of the event system. I don't think the game's income has decreased enough for us to be worried about it shutting down though so I'm not talking about that and I don't wanna hear anything about it either. I've dealt with games shutting down before and I know the signs.
Anyway. Event system. It feels like they keep adding event types that cater to whales (PR events are super expensive, and the new Spotlight events are similar with the 2.7mil SSR+ reward and the redistributed SSR rewards from points vs ranking). The main issue I have, which as far as I'm aware I'm not alone on, is how damn hard it is to get finales in events, which is only worsened by the increased SP cap now that we have more to spend in one go after being away from the game for a bit or ranking up. In my own experience, it's easy to go 30+ minutes without getting a single finale and not everyone has the time or patience for that? I know I don't. People have other things to do and can't always be using their phones or playing games on them, and even if you just leave the game on auto while you do those other things, you'll still have to check on it for shows, and it'll still drain your phone's battery.
Other tap tap games I've played have some sort of safety net to avoid problems like that, like enstars basic guaranteeing you at least one rare live per event lesson, and while it's no longer active, On Air used to let you stack up to four event recordings at a time so if you let the game play itself for a while, you could come back and ideally at least one of those would be a 3☆ recording. Other games have similar guarantees or rate-ups or just...anything to make the event experience less of a pain. All we have in A3 is...one guaranteed show per practice, and that's, more often than not, a matinee or soiree.
On top of that, this is probably just me, but I feel like practices in A3 go really slow, both with auto and without, and the auto-cancellation of specific show types is just as slow. That makes it feel like each practice takes forever, which really doesn't help (again, I've gone 45 minutes without a finale on more than one occasion).
I'm really just complaining but...I wish they'd make some kind of tweak or improvement to the event system. They only need to change one of these things to make the event experience exponentially better, whether it's by increasing finale rates, adding a guarantee of some sort, or speeding practices up. It's...not a big request to make, I think? But it'd make things so much easier for me and a lot of others who I know struggle to play the game anymore because of how draining it is.
I know gacha companies aren't our friends, but we have jobs or school or other things in our lives to deal with and waiting half an hour for a single finale just isn't worth it in the middle of all that. It's actively harming their revenue too, so it'd really be in their best interest to change things a little. I still love A3 and I want to keep reading and translating the stories and other content because nothing can replace this story and these characters in my heart, but it'd be nice if I could be as enthusiastic about the actual gameplay aspect.

FAQ
(last updated 12/30/24)
Q1: "Have you seen that the wiki/this streamer/etc. says this character's name is [X]?" / "Why don't you call [X] by their name?"
A1: To help avoid confusion (and save me from potentially needing to repeatedly rewrite and retag posts), this blog only considers a character's name confirmed when it has been spoken aloud.
Japanese names can often be read in multiple ways, and while usually fan guesses have been more or less correct, they aren't always, and it can cause problems when the wrong name catches on. For this reason, characters will be referred to by codename only, or a nickname if they're not a teammate, until their name is confirmed, though info posts specifically may mention a likely reading of their name as well.
Q2: "Which region version are you playing?"
A2: The Hong Kong/Taiwan/Macau one! This does mean my updates are about a week behind the mainland one, though, so I may not always be able to post info on updates immediately.
Q3: "Who are your favorite characters?"
A3: Overall, my favorites are Tomoko and Kiyoshi! Right now Motoha is specifically my favorite story teammate, and Miyu and Riko are my favorite navigators. My favorite thief designs are Moko, Key, Rin, Yuki, and Bui, and my favorite Persona design is Aura! I also really like Awilda, Leucothea, Prosymna, Nemertes, Gorgyra, and Calliope.
On that note, my favorite P5 characters are Akechi and Sumire, heh! Ann and Yusuke are also right up there with them.
Q4: "Do you play other gacha games?" / "Are you familiar with [X] gacha mechanic?"
A4: Haha, nope! I actually hate gacha systems, refuse to play any other gacha games, and am only putting up with this one because I'm otherwise very curious about the game and enjoy the characters. The gacha's still driving me crazy, though. I hate having to worry about getting a character before their banner ends, especially since I refuse to spend any money on the game.
That said, I do have friends who play gacha games, so I sometimes ask them about game mechanics if I'm not familiar with them. I also do at least pay attention to how people describe this game in relation to other gacha games, with the hopes of more thoroughly understanding the things I'm explaining here.
Q5: "Do you think the P5 Collab will be updated at the same time as the story?"/ "Do you think this P5 character will be added with the next update?"
A5: The game developers have said that the game updates will follow a loose pattern of: story update -> event update -> gameplay update. Story updates include things like new Palaces and story teammates (for instance, when Miyazawa's Palace and Soy were added in Version 1.1), whereas so far event updates have mostly added new parts of the P5 Collab (for instance, the Museum Chapter and Yusuke were added in Version 1.3.1, and the Bank Chapter and Makoto were added in Version 1.3.3), with the exception of the summer event (Versions 2.1.1 and 2.1.2). Gameplay updates add onto side quests, Confidants, plus other existing content, and generally include gameplay fixes.
For this reason, it seems very unlikely that a new part of the P5 Collab will be added at the same time as a new part of story, and this also goes for adding P5 characters and story teammates. I may be proven wrong in the future, but I'm just going off of what the devs have said so far; I'd expect a new story teammate with a story update, while event updates and gameplay updates have only ever added new Phantom Idols.
Q6: "Is there somewhere I can download this character 3D model you posted about/another model I've been looking for?"
A6: Yes! If it's one of the playable characters (or Merope) you want (i.e., any of the story teammate or Phantom Idols currently in the game as a teammate), you can find them in this folder here: https://mega.nz/folder/gjs0kJRa#5D3n3B11cOpT1Xp3VQIIKA
If the character you're looking for hasn't been added yet (I may forget to add new playable characters to it sometimes), or isn't a playable character at all, just send an ask or message! If you send an ask, please don't do so anonymously, just so I can reply privately and make sure you get the model(s) you're looking for.
Q6.5: "What about this particular outfit for Wonder? Can you post screenshots of the model/send it to me?"
A6.5: Unfortunately, those are just named with numbers in the files (either wonder_normal_01, 02, etc. or wonder_autumn_01, 02, etc. for pajamas), which makes them a lot more trouble to dig up! If you ask during the update that added them to the files- I'll always post the icon for the outfit set- that makes it a lot easier, so I may be able to get it for you, but otherwise the answer's usually going to be no. I'm sorry for the inconvenience!
I can usually get screenshots of the outfit in-game, so that's an alternative option, but there are some cases where the outfit hasn't been added to the game yet. Feel free to ask, though! Just check out the tag for wonder outfits first to make sure I haven't already posted it.
Q7: "How do you datamine P5X? I want to try it myself!"
A7: I explained my process here, though feel free to ask any follow-up questions about it if you have them, and I'll do my best to help! I actually learned everything I know about datamining just for this game, so I try to make the tools and steps as accessible as possible for anyone else who's interested, heh.
And if you ever happen to spot anything I missed in the files, please, send it my way! I'm just one person, I sometimes miss a thing or two. The more people looking, the better!
Q8: "Do you have a list of all the combat roles? I see they're individually explained on the character info posts, but I was hoping to read all of them in one list!"
A8: Say no more, here you go:
Resist: good at targeting single enemies (Wonder (Janosik), Fleuret, Mont, Bui, Sepia, Messa, Skull, Queen). This tends to manifest as followup attacks that hit one target, or status effects/damage buffs that apply against specific targets.
Control: good at dealing with groups of enemies (Closer, Summer Motoha, Joker, Panther, Fox, Noir). This tends to manifest as lots of multi-target attacks, and bonuses for using those attacks in certain ways.
Surrender: focused around applying debuffs to gain an advantage (Key, Rin, Vino). This tends to manifest as a focus on a particular status effect, and the ability to do extra damage/effects to enemies once they're inflicted with it.
Rescue: focuses on healing companions (Cattle, Summer Tomoko, Marian, Mona). This has so far always included at least one healing skill, but often other healing abilities can be triggered as well.
Superior: good at buffing teammates and improving their effectiveness (Moko, Leon, Riddle, Chord). This has so far always manifested as unique buffs/status effects, sometimes becoming fully triggered by additional conditions.
Defense: good at protecting teammates and keeping them alive (Soy, Yuki, Cherish). This tends to manifest as shield-focused abilities, but Soy instead draws fire to himself, and buffs the team's max health temporarily.
Elucidation: the designation used for navigators (Wind, Okyann, Puppet, Phoebe, Oracle). This obviously has a wide array of specific applications, but tends to revolve around unique buffs or debuffs that the navigator can grant/inflict, and obviously each navigator has their own fights/team compositions they're most suited for.
[More questions may be added as they get, uh, frequently asked, haha!]

Apparently, Nintendo is rolling out new tournament guidelines
Here's some "interesting" highlights:
Pirated or modified versions of Nintendo games must not be used.
Want to have a tournament for any romhack, including the randomizers for many of their games? Go fuck yourself
Games with online play must use the online gameplay services and/or servers officially provided by Nintendo
Want to do anything online with servers that aren't absolute dogshit? Go fuck yourself
A3. Tournaments that are not permitted by these guidelines include, but are not limited to the below. [..] Tournaments involving the sale of food, beverages, or merchandise
Want to have food vendors at your tournament? Go fuck yourself.
It is not permitted to use Nintendo's trademarks or IP in the name of a tournament.
Want to say, in the name of the tournament, what game the tournament is for? Go fuck yourself.
Currently these are only being rolled out for the UK and JP, but will likely be applied everywhere else later.
So. Do you like GDQ and SGL and all those other big tournaments that involve nintendo games? Then stop buying Nintendo products. Yes, you need to actually fucking boycott them. And then stick to that boycott until this decision is FULLY reversed. Don't start buying again just because they reverse one or two pieces of this while still actively screwing people over.
Don't buy a single fucking thing from their company. Not their games, not their movies, not their scammy dogshit "servers" that are really just you paying for a p2p connection. Nothing. If it's licensed by nintendo, if it's produced by nintendo, if it has ANY legal connection to nintendo, do not buy it.
If you want them to stop abusing copyright law, then there's only one way to make them stop, and it's to make it as unprofitable as possible.
And, yeah. Nintendo abusing copyright is absolutely nothing new. They've been screwing over creators for years. So, want to stop that? Here's your chance. Push back against this copyright abuse, and maybe, just maybe, we'll see some progress towards them reconsidering.

hi! im back with another question! what other games do you play besides a3! and genshin?
Oh gosh!!
I play a lot of rpgmaker games (ib, the witch's house, mad father, etc.), indies (firewatch, what remains of edith finch and the vanishing of ethan carter), and acnh mostly. I also play a lot of monster prom/monster camp/monster roadtrip too bcs those monsters have me in a deathgrip 😳
I love horror games too, I played outlast for my beloved mutual lin a couple (??) months ago and now she's playing the quarry for me 🫶 I love the silent hill franchise, especially !!
Although, I have played a lot of the one-and-done kinda games (the telltale twd and batman series, life is strange series yk?) and when I want some mind-numbing kinda non-gaming gameplay, I'll just play house flipper or candy crush or smth
I don't really play other otomes, since it's usually a female mc and you can't change it, BUT I do play obey me!
But fr, I will watch gameplay of any game. Even if I don't play 'em myself, I am just so in love with video games as a medium...

Towards 2025: Interview with Top Games Inc. CEO David Guo on Future Strategies and Innovation
2025 is approaching, and many classic mobile games continue to perform well in the gaming industry. One notable example is the strategy game Evony: The King's Return. Its developer, Top Games Inc. (TGI), has achieved outstanding success under the leadership of CEO David Guo (Yaoqi Guo). The game continues to enjoy a loyal fanbase.
Tumblr media
In this interview, CEO and Founder David Guo shares insights into TGI’s core strategies, their approach to game development, and their vision for the future of gaming in 2025.
Q1: Why Does TGI Offer a Diverse Range of Games?
A1: We believe that players have diverse tastes. By developing games across different genres, we reach a broader audience and provide players with new experiences. For example, integrating puzzle elements into Evony attracted fans of that genre and enriched our community. Our strategy is to appeal to as many players as possible, whether they prefer hardcore strategy or casual games.
Q2: What Contributes to Evony's Global Popularity?
A2: Evony’s success stems from its engaging gameplay, deep strategy, and active community. It appeals to both new and experienced players. We prioritize user experience and build strong, loyal player bases. By evolving the game and staying user-focused, Evony remains one of the top-grossing mobile games. Unlike competitors who focus on short-term gains, we are dedicated to long-term community building.
Q3: How Does TGI Keep Players Engaged in a Changing Landscape?
A3: We regularly update Evony with fresh challenges, stories, and features. Listening to player feedback is key to adjusting our development priorities. Using data to understand player behavior helps us create experiences that maintain engagement. I also monitor YouTube feedback, including both positive and negative comments. While we consider all players, we aim to design for a wide, diverse audience.
Q4: How Will AI Impact the Future of Gaming?
A4: AI is transforming the gaming industry. At TGI, we use AI to enhance user experiences, improve engagement, and streamline development processes. We plan to integrate AI into game mechanics and player behavior analysis. While AI plays a crucial role, human creativity is irreplaceable and continues to drive the industry forward.
Q5: What’s the Strategic Value of Collaborations with Brands and IPs?
A5: Collaborations with well-known brands, like Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla, and Napoleon, are both fun and strategic. They boost brand visibility and attract new players. These partnerships enrich our games and create win-win-win scenarios for players, partners, and TGI. We are always open to new collaborations that can enhance our games.
Q6: How Does TGI Use Data Science in Decision Making?
A6: Data science helps us make informed decisions by analyzing player feedback, market trends, and performance metrics. It increases efficiency and guides product development. Data also helps us understand employee engagement, fostering a motivating work environment. Rather than replacing staff, we use AI to support our team’s growth. People are our greatest asset.
Q7: What Makes a Game Truly Exceptional?
A7: A great game has engaging gameplay, a strong story, and intuitive design. It should balance challenge and reward, offer immersive experiences, and be easy to play. Evolving content, dynamic environments, and varied challenges are essential to maintaining player interest. At TGI, we focus on these qualities in games like Evony, ensuring an ever-changing world that keeps players engaged.
Q8: How Does TGI’s Corporate Culture Support Game Development?
A8: At TGI, our corporate culture is centered around user needs, innovation, and continuous improvement. We foster an environment where team members can excel and contribute to delivering great gaming experiences. Open communication, inclusivity, and collaboration are core to our culture, sparking creativity and driving high-quality game development. Integrity, excellence, and passion are essential to our mission.
Q9: What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Game Developers?
A9: Cultivate your passion, keep learning, and view challenges as opportunities for growth. Collaboration and mentorship are invaluable. Building a network of peers and mentors is key to success in the industry.
Q10: What’s TGI’s Vision for the Future of Gaming?
A10: We see gaming becoming more integrated into daily life, offering immersive experiences beyond traditional entertainment. We’re particularly excited about blockchain gaming, wearable tech, and the metaverse. TGI is committed to staying at the forefront of these advancements.
This interview provides an inside look at the strategic mindset and future vision of Top Games Inc., emphasizing their commitment to player engagement, innovation, and long-term success.

asking for more male charas lol
Tumblr media
More male characters please! Genshin came to me at a very important time. I just lost my other gacha games, A3! English and Dragalia Lost, and I felt burnt out from the repetitive gameplay of other gacha games that are mostly card-based rpg or stat based. Genshin, being the first of its kind of a gacha open world rpg with the elemental system combo, was incredibly fresh! The world, music, and characters were much higher production too. And, as a male character enjoyer, I was also happy that the cast was diverse with men and women. However, the recent lack of male characters makes me very sad. I cannot return to gender balanced games like Dragalia Lost, as it is literally dead. And other gacha that have male characters, like TKRB or LaDS, have very boring gameplay. If Genshin stops having men, I will have no other game. I might still play for the plot, but for buying Welkins for pulling characters, I just have no motivation to buy without male characters. Please, more men in Snezhneya!
I gotta threaten hoyo's wallet lol

Printing | Product for Playtesting
Tumblr media
Alas, a tragedy occured once I had gone to print my assets out! Luckily, it was not anything too bad. The printing itself went quite smoothly, but unfortunately the place where I had given my assets to print were occupied and short staffed and could not laser-cut my cards out as I had hoped. Thus, I cut my losses and took everything back to uni and later back home, where I cut each of the sheets by hand. I also used a scoring knife to create creases along the paper so I knew where to cut from (my knife was too blunt to do that job itself).
Tumblr media
This process, while gruelling, and slightly messy, did lead to some better results than expected, but it also showcased a few errors in my print files. For starters, I had not accounted for the misalignment between both sides of the double sided prints, thus the placement of the white border on the back of the card was inconsistent. I had also mistakenly reflected a few of the pages, such that some double sided prints didn't end up coming out right. Luckily, these are easy fixes to make for the final submission.
Tumblr media
This is a sample of how each card is supposed to look. The print tests had already showed me that the text sizes were visible, and just to truly compare, I used a Pokémon card that I owned to compare the two. What I found was that Pokémon card text sizes were actually slightly smaller than the text that I had chosen to use.
The materials that I printed on were as follows;
The Board Tiles : White Conquer Board (A3)
The Cards : Ice White Board (A3)
The Tokens : Ice White Board (A4)
The Calendar : Artpaper (A4)
The total printing cost of this endeavour came up to 8 280/=. The materials I chose are meant to reflect this game at its most premium state, and due to the customisability of the material, costs can go much lower. Since this printed product is not part of the final submission, I plan to use it for product shoots and the final gameplay test going forward. Ideally, I plan to reprint just the cards to get them properly cut out for exhibition purposes during my final presentation, but since the final submission is just the corrected print file, there should not be a huge issue in terms of the printed product having minor discrepancies itself.

for those of you who don't actually know what ichu is which is probably 99% of the people reading this. i doubt anyone's gonna read this whole post but i feel the need to explain. it Was a mobile otome/rhythm idol game that came out in 2015.
lasted about 4 years at which point it shut down, which would not be unusual if not for the fact that they explicitly said they were not going to shut it down. this happened while the company that makes it (liber (like a3)) was also making another game, cue, and a reboot of ichu. the reboot of ichu (etosute) was seemingly made on the idea that the reason a3 was successful and ichu wasn't was due to the gameplay style? so etosute got rid of the rhythm gameplay and otome elements and repackaged it as a no-gameplay-gameplay idle mobage with no romance. readmore bc i'm just rambling.
but the reason a3 was so much more successful was because they actually paid people to advertise it so people, like. knew it existed. and the One ad they had for etosute was one meant to play on a big screen outside and this wound up happening right as covid was starting. so all they really did was alienate the majority of their original fanbase while not bringing in any new fans. etosute ran for half a year then existed for another half a year with no new content just rerun gacha banners before they went "why aren't we making money on this :(" and on the day of the original game's anniversary they tweeted that the second game was also shutting down. sometime in there cue went thru a whole bunch of shit and died as well
some time passed and we got, with great delay, both a switch port of the dead, unfinished, unpolished, never going to have updates to make it a complete game rhythm game, and 3 light novels written to complete the story. it's been years since they were meant to and the novels Just came out and it's unclear what happened with the 6 million extra yen the crowdfund raised for there to be so many issues but that's besides the point.
so tl;dr unpopular mobile game gets shut down before being finished, company that makes it is not good at their jobs and clearly has a terrible marketing team in-house, dead in the water game gets ported to the switch so fans can still play it by way of apology for lying and shutting down the game shortly after saying they 100% for sure were not going to shut it down.
then recently there's suddenly an announcement from a localization company that not a single person i know had heard of before (aside from them also announcing bpro (!?) a bit earlier) about the switch port of the unfinished, never Going to be finished, unpopular, built for mobile and difficult to play on the switch, very niche game. all of a sudden nearly a decade after the original release of the game they're releasing it in english. not a day has passed where i have not questioned the logic behind this as a business decision. it's being sold for like $35. the japanese release was about ¥8000 (like?? $70 $75ish???). also to buy it in the us you have to either get it from best buy or specifically uk amazon even though it's also available on canadian (and spanish) amazon
