There's a fine line between thinking about somebody and thinking about not thinking about somebody, but I have the patience and the self-control to walk that line for hours — days, if I have to.

A disgrace this ‘director’ and mediocre woman still gets jobs 😭 okay the last one was 4 years ago lol but still. Yikes. If she wasn’t thin, white and a fake feminist, this woman would be nowhere, sadly that’s how Hollywood works 😬
I think she talks a really good game. She’s all smoke and mirrors and then, when she has to do the work… pfffft. I think she’s good at hiring really talented people who make her look better than she is. But you can clearly see from DWD that even talented cast and crew can’t save a film from a horrible director and horrible script (both of which were her responsibility).

Hardly any posts about Jennifer Egan's book "a visit from the goon squad" online. Where the fuck are the people who have read this book? It won a fucking Pulitzer. Where is the online content for this book? Come on. Chapter 10 is like the best chapter of any book I've read. Please someone else say they love Rob as much as I do.

My Month in Books: February 2023
The World We Make by N.K. Jemisin The City We Became was one of my absolute favourite reads of 2020 and I was buzzing with excitement to hear more from the five avatars of New York City and explore the other living cities of the world. Jemisin, as always, delivers a gripping and creative novel full of breathtaking world-building. However, my only critique is that the whole thing does feel…

Her only thought was of getting away, as if she were carrying a live grenade from inside the house, so that when it exploded, it would destroy just herself.

Just want to say for the record that if fucking OW ends up directing a visit from the goon squad I am going to be furious because that is one of my favorite books in recent years and I don’t want a film version at all but I especially do not want her jammy little hands anywhere near it.
WHY ARE PEOPLE STILL HIRING THIS WOMAN???? I think @blackandwhlteaesthetlcI told me about this and was equally as angry. I swear to god, Olivia must practice some black magic to be getting work. Or she holds some secrets she's blackmailing people with because that woman has zero directing skills.

okay after rotating it in my mind a bit, i may be revising my opinion on the last chapter of a visit from the goon squad...like yes egan's 2010 conceptions of The Future are silly and goofy and near-impossible to comprehend let alone take seriously, but maybe that's the point. by which i mean the overarching theme of the book is that time comes for us all: if we live long enough we'll all grow old and become uncool and not understand what the fuck the youths are up to. so of course we're going to literally be thrust into a discomforting simulation of our own irrelevance by novel's end.
anyway a visit from the goon squad may very well have slid in at the eleventh hour to take the "favorite book i read in 2023" crown
