Day 8: Hocus Pocus

"How are you getting rid of it?"

Castiel looked down into a pair of amphoras which had collected an alarming quantity of a tar-like substance from his Human charges. He'd seen a disposal of this nature once before, but it was a far larger amount. Surely it was safe to surmise that a volume of this size wouldn't call for such drastic measures.

Flip gargled with a bit of stolen mouthwash from Sam's bathroom and spat into his container. She didn't want to chance it going down the sink pipes. Extractions like this were difficult. She couldn't just phase a hand in to gather Gloom into her talons, or mist the room in aerosolized Mirth concentrate. There was too much. In through the palms, out through the mouth. She'd been vomiting that bile for an hour and it tasted positively foul.

"Not the way you're thinking. Gabriel's was a special case, and we don't have an infinite supply of Burning Bush cuttings to use for banishment. There was just... so much. No, for Sam and Dean we just have to mix it with a neutralizer Potion, then burn it after it solidifies, somewhere on Holy ground. It's not hard. Just a lot of Spellwork." Flip sighed, reclining against a slightly soggy bar of hand soap.

"Things of this nature... could they potentially be weaponized against-"

"Whatever you're going to ask, don't." Flip warned. "You know I can't."

The Angel buttoned his lips and watched as the tiny woman took a long drink of glowing Gibble Juice from her hip flask. She was pale. Her glow was dim. It was an uncomfortable thing to witness a Fairy in that state. Something about it made the world feel darker, less pleasantly magical.

"Apologies. If I can assist with the disposal, I would like to help. I am responsible for much of their turmoil, so it falls to me to aid in their recovery however I'm able." Cas looked to Sam's sleeping form and frowned. He'd fared no better than Dean in the extraction, possibly worse. "...The marks of pain on their Souls are so deep. I'll never forgive myself for the part I've played in adding to it."

A tube of toothpaste whipped in an arc across the bathroom and papped Castiel in the chest. He caught it on the rebound and squinted at the container.

"Does my Vessel have unpleasant breath?" he asked, cupping a hand to his mouth for a test sniff. "I'm indifferent to the scent. It seems plain."

"You. All three of you." Flip huffed, sitting up with another swig of Gibble to brighten her glow.

"We... all have unpleasant breath?"

"You're gonna give me an aneurysm, Cas. You can't keep living like this. They can't keep living like this." Flip gestured out to float the amphoras up off of the floor and opened a Portal to her Distillery. "You can help. But if I hear even ONE more grabby hand for the blame bucket, I'm cursing all three of you. This is a rough night and I'm in no mood, ne?"

She mumbled to herself in Old Spritish when Castiel scooped her into one hand and strode through the Portal.

"Ahem. Be that as it may, I highly doubt that a Human sphincter could accommodate that sort of mass, Flippitin."

Sometimes he wished he didn't speak so many languages.

"You said I could help." Cas grumbled, waiting awkwardly outside of a little stone structure in the middle of the woods

"You can. In theory. It's not my fault you're so Big. I don't have the power to shrink Angels, so unless you're going to box yourself down even more and possess a squirrel or something, there's nothing I can do about-" A large WHUMP noise interrupted her potion stirring. "Cas?"

The Fairy paused in her task to poke her head outside. Castiel's body laid limp on the ground. What had happened? She whipped her head around to search for an assailant, but nobody was nearby.

"I am ready."

Flip jolted and spun to face... a black field mouse with a gravelly voice. She fell backwards into the dead leaves and shrieked with laughter. This did not amuse Mousetiel.

"I can't stay this size forever. Can we carry on?" he swept a tiny arm out to indicate the entrance to the Distillery.

"This is a big day for me, I'm NEVER this amount of Disney at home." Flip wheezed. "Come on. Can't believe I'm making potions with a mouse!"

Cas grumbled in his throat and twitched his whiskers irritably as he followed the Fairy inside.

The interior of the Distillery was more confined than he expected. From the way Flip had described it previously, she kept one hundred cauldrons ablaze at all times, and over a thousand shelves twinkled with various flavors of Gibble Juice, liquid Achievement, Sadness, and Amourous intent phials. This was... very plain. Only a dozen cauldrons were set up, and sparse ingredients were lined on a stone countertop.

"It's... not as big as I thought it would be." Cas hemmed.

"It's just one room. I can't work this sort of Magic around my other emotional concoctions. They'd be tainted. The last thing I want to drink is Winchester taint."

Somewhere, Castiel was quite certain that an immature person was cackling with laughter. Regardless, for the next two hours, he did what he could to assist in preparing the neutralizing potion. The end result looked rather like slabs of sparkling, congealed blood.

"Do NOT lick that." Flip advised.

"There is no universe where I would ever have considered licking that." Castiel stared at her, dumbfounded. "What now?"

"Now we cut it to cubes. Half go into Sam's container, half into Dean's. It will take another hour for it to bond, then we burn it." she explained. "I'm sure they've been awake a while by now. Do they know you've gone?"

"I texted Dean when we arrived." Cas shook his head. "I told him I needed to get some air."

"Does he ever buy that? Why not text Sam?"

"If I tell Dean the whole truth, he will ask a slew of inappropriate questions. If I say that I'm just... out... he leaves it at that." Cas replied, using his tiny mouse hands to chop half of the substance into cubes. "No matter what I text Sam, he will worry, and many follow up inquiries will follow. It's easier to leave them wondering."

This was the sort of thing that made Flip want to bang her head on the wall. Even so, she chopped up her portion of the slab and said nothing. There was only so much she could say on the matter, and it was much like chatting with a brick wall when it came to asking certain folks to communicate.

"You can embiggen yourself now. We'll finish up outside."

The rest of the morning was spent quietly sipping tea and watching the Hurt burn away to nothing. One of these days she was just going to flood that stupid bunker in Mirth and leave the lot of them to stew in it for a week under lock and key.

This Massive Seaside Villa Makes the Most of its Spectacular Location

Like a rare jewel, a magnificent residence situated on the coast of the Agean Sea glitters in the sunlight, with its massive windows and a distinctive undulating roofline. The minimalist home offers a Zen environment that is entirely focused on the sea and its surroundings. Despite its clean lines and modern appeal, it exudes a quiet luxury that is magnified by its setting.

Located in Turkey’s southwestern province of Muğla, the Dolunay Villa is nestled in a seaside cliff on a rugged stretch along the Agean. Entering from the north, a winding lane leads to the private vill that is fully oriented toward the indescribable sea views. The pitch of the landscape allowed designers Foster and Partners to create what looks like a low, single-level home surrounded by captivating Mediterranean gardens. The beds are filled with fragrant native plantings such as lavender, thyme and rosemary, along with iconic olive trees.

Entering the 1,668-square-meter home (nearly 18,000 square feet), it is immediately obvious that that structure is focused on the water views. The layout of the house confines the public living areas to the west and the private family rooms to the east. To the south, the entire home is faced with glass to provide sweeping views of the sea and coastline. All natural and neutral interiors of the home are ideal because there is nothing cat can or should compete with the views.

Throughout the home, the floor plan is largely open and creates an airy environment that feels in sync with the outdoors. Part of this comes from the massive glass panels that slide open to dissolve the boundaries between indoors and out. Other areas are described as more “opaque” to offer the family the proper levels of privacy. The landscape and terrain around the villa gave rise to the inspiration for its interior. An all-natural, neutral palette of stone, wood, and bronze mirrors the colors and textures found outdoors. Oak pieces paired with leather furnishings create a very laid back but eminently elegant atmosphere for this seaside residence.

A very elegant sweeping staircase links the upper and lower levels. Crafted from solid Portuguese limestone, it appears to float unsupported, but inside the stone, post-tensioned cables provide the necessary positioning and stability. The light and airy nature of the staircase is enhanced by the light timber handrail that was bent and shaped on-site. Another unusual feature of this staircase are the balusters, which are made from thin glass tubes instead of the usual wood or metal. The landing area offers the perfect space for displaying a large sculpture and a big piece of wall art. Although the overall palette of the house is neutral, the blue artwork seems to mirror the sea outside the window and brings in just a touch of the same variegated color of the water.

The bathrooms are also like minimalist works of art themselves. a long, sleek vanity is highlighted by innovative underlighting and features custom vessel sinks and faucet hardware that has a vintage look. A central stone unit is a focal point and provides extra countertop space while the carved wooden door brings a softer feeling to the all-stone space.

The unique roofline was designed in collaboration with Blumer Lehmann of Switzerland and is handcrafted from structural timber. This roof is eco-friendly because it was prefabricated and the material and process have a much lower carb0n footprint than a concrete roof would.
