I have to say I really liked the last letter of Merteuil. She really is a woman that takes shit from noone and I truly believe her when she says that she liked Valmont because he was amiable and that this is the Valmont she wants back. I agree, he can be charming, he can be kind and fun. But he has lost it because he lost himself.

So way to go, Merteuil. We don't always agree, but Tourvel would do better with a hint of Merteuil's attitude, especially given that she seems to have a husband who asks no questions.
