In which I go back over episodes 1-5 of Serial Experiments Lain in order to collect my thoughts on them before continuing on to a liveblog proper!

(this was done at butt-o-clock in the morning don't @ me for rambling/misspelling/etc)

Episode 1-

Lain’s shadow, and the shadows near her house, have an intensely weird pattern to them- like there's something hiding deeper within those shadows than any other shadows

The focus on humming powerlines, Lain’s asking them to be quiet- something/someone is trying to communicate with her, even this early on

The steam that comes from Lain’s fingers- at first I thought it was an intense imagination, but it felt similar to the steam coming from her computer in later episodes- another early sign that she’s already in the Wired

“Why did you die?” “God is here.” the first mention of god in the show

As a whole Lain’s family seems off; her parents weirdly robotic, inhuman- almost monstrous in their appearances, and her sister distant; lain did not know them well, and so these simulations of them suffer

When another student dies by jumping in front of the transit train, lain has a strange experience of “viewing” the student’s death while surrounded by fog. I originally thought this was more of her powerful imagination, but having since connected the “fog” or steam to computers, i think this was her simulating the event over again in an attempt to cope with her very human feelings

“Come to the Wired as soon as you can.” More communications from “the universe” to Lain

Episode 2-

the night scene at the beginning of each episode has been, mostly, a repetition of itself, with more communications; however, with Lain not present for most of them, who are they directed towards?

The girl in the nightclub Cyberia- looking at her again on a re-view, she does seem similar to Lain, but wears earrings- something I’ve noticed the “digital” Lain in the opening has that differentiates her from the more innocent, child-like, human Lain.

The explanation of Accel cuts to Lain in class- with the camera specifically focusing on her ear. It seems as if, throughout the show, she’s learning certain information without seeking it out.

The first appearance of the digital ghosts, like what would become of the “fake” version of Lain’s sister in a later episode, plus the figure she “imagined” after the train slow-down.

The man with the gun high on Accel- a test for human-Lain? She freezes, drawing his ire, but when he recognizes her as the Other Lain and points his gun at her, she speaks in a different voice- possibly the Other Lain’s? Possibly… a God-Lain’s voice. The man kills himself as if controlled by an outside force, and Lain appears shocked. I think that God-Lain- the one who has been communicating with Lain all this time- took over to ensure that Lain’s failure of this test wouldn’t lead to her death (or possibly, to interrupting her growth and forcing some kind of reset?)

Episode 3-

After the events of last episode, Lain is shaken- she can barely respond to Arisu. When she returns home, her family is nowhere to be seen- possibly because them existing during all of what happened would be detrimental to her growth? But when she falls asleep at her computer then checks on her family again… their presence or absence isn’t shown.

Another case of information about something strange- this time the Psyche- with a focus on Lain’s ear; again, picking up some kind of information.

“We saw someone die right in front of us yesterday, but we’re acting like it’s something we saw in a movie.” lain's friends are the most fleshed out "people" in the simulation because she knew them the best- and that's why none of them could react properly to the murder in that club, because Lain had never experienced what their reactions would really be like to something traumatic like that.

Lain’s Psyche shows up in her locker- perhaps put there by God-Lain?

The first mention of The Knights, who may have created the Psyche. Are they possibly a front for God-Lain?

Lain’s father attempts to leave immediately when she shows him the Psyche- further evidence that he can only react how he’s “programmed” to? The guy in the club who recognizes Lain- God-Lain has definitely been visiting here regularly.

“I saw you once, in the Wired. You were totally different.” God-Lain doesn’t seem to mind folks knowing about her. Is she leaving hints towards her existence for Lain on purpose?

Lain’s sister is definitely more fleshed out than her parents- when the Agents at the door try to tell her to ignore them she seems properly weirded out

Episode 4-

The origin of my connecting steam/fog to computing power- lain has a fan set up to directly cool part of her computer, releasing steam/condensation

Lain’s parents continue to have strange, robotic responses, but her sister seems genuinely concerned for her.

The main “plot” of this episode- the crossing over of the two net games- seems mostly unrelated to Lain? But it does seem to be causing suicides and murders, showing direct interaction between the Wired and the “real” world

I love the speed with which Lain is acclimating to computers and the Wired- contacting a professional for assistance with the Psyche is a great detail

The more adult-seeming Lain- so, possibly, God-Lain- appears to ask the DJ at the club about the game. But, she’s not there when he looks, and after that scene Lain has suddenly learned about and downloaded the game in question. Was it maybe Human-Lain tapping into her latent god powers to learn this information from him?

A Lain travels through the net game, and seems to try to contact a fleeing player. “I can’t go where you are.” The voice sounds much more like Human-Lain? Then the player encounters a child and kills her- seemingly in-game, but then one or more corpses can be seen wrapped in sheets afterwards as Lain watches. Highly unlikely that this guy had a real gun IRL- especially in Japan- so this seems to be more Wired/IRL fuckery.

“My buddies and I think this might be the work of the Knights too.” A point against my theory of the Knights being God-Lain?

“I’ll be able to enter it soon. … Don’t worry, I’m still me.” “Sometimes, I wonder…” Yeah, there’s no way this is a real reaction her real father would have.

“The Knights do not physically exist. They can be thought of as a religion that is spreading through the Wired.” And then this quote feels like another point towards my God-Lain theory!

the two men who were spying on lain... I think might've been actual outside agents given representation so that human-Lain would have the chance to deal with them- which, she did, by tapping into her god-powers to destroy their spy-glasses (which, when she did, caused her computer's fans to go into overdrive to keep it cooled)

Episode 5-

Lain hears directly from a being calling itself God, before the episode jumps to focusing on her sister for most of the episode.

This episode felt like it was jossing my theory- how could this whole reality be for Lain’s benefit if her sister was experiencing strange stuff?

“There is nothing that you don’t know. I can’t tell you a story that doesn’t exist.” On some level, Lain is both God-Lain and Human-Lain. These conversations with the doll, the mask, then fakes of her parents throughout the episode, seem to be more of Lain learning without personally experiencing- being fed information by her other self.

“The other side is overcrowded. The dead will have nowhere to go.” Isn’t this straight up a quote from one of the Romero zombie flicks?

All the talk of prophecy and “fulfill the prophecy”... Lain seems to be on a set path towards entering the Wired, which is part of why it seems like this is just her reliving an approximation of something that already happened.

A connection between the Knights and The Prophecy. The fake of Lain’s sister isn’t the only one to encounter word of the prophecy, since we hear about it from Lain’s friends as well

Hmm… I hadn’t thought of it before, but, mayhaps the fake of Lain’s sister doesn’t show until the strange holo-effects of her water at dinner? None of the really weird stuff happens to her until after… maybe this was a copy of her then, made during that moment before being pushed into this prophecy-horror scenario?

The Lain’s Sister who enters the house crying then sees herself disappears- or, it seems she does, until Lain sees a digital ghost of her, like she had previously seen in the school… after seeming to see this other self of hers, the real Lain’s sister seems… robotic and nonchalant. Was she a full, real person before this happened?

Theory Overall thus far-

my theory thus far is that lain's already living in the wired, and is, in fact, a god there- she is both Lain and The Knights; but, the more human part of her, Lain, is reliving her pre-wired memories with slight alterations in order to help her get to the point where she can accept her godhood.

the opening of the show ties into my theory too- that god-Lain (portrayed in the intro with earrings) is spread throughout the world, controlling everything, while human-Lain (in her much more childish outfit) is just experiencing and trying to understand the world

Things that were pointed out to me-

Arisu’s name is a romanization of Alice (referencing Alice in Wonderland)

THE DND EPISODE WAS SO IMPORTANT FOR SHIRO/ KURON THAN WE THINK AND HERE’S WHY

IT SHOWED KURON WAS FUCKING HUMAN BEING, THAT IT WASN’T AN ACT, AND THAT HE IS STILL SHIRO, HIMSELF, DESPITE IT ALL. HE WANTED TO SPEND HIS TIME OFF WITH THE TEAM, HE WAS ALREADY PLAYING WITH CORAN PIDGE AND HUNK BEFORE ALLURA AND LANCE DECIDED TO JOIN THEM. (Fun side note: Haggar probably watched the whole DnD session through Kuron)

Let’s begin, excuse the caps, I am very passionate. It’s start with how the DnD game shows off how Kuron is a well rounded human being and an extension of Shiro’s personality, rather than an act

KURON HAD A BLAST MAKING HIS OWN CHARACTER FOR THIS GAME, HIS CHARACTER WAS LITERALLY A SELF INSERT WITH HIS REAL NAME TAKASHI SHIROGANE AND HE CHOSE TO BE A PALADIN

HE PLAYS AS SOMENE WITH VALUES HE TRULY BELIEVES, HE LOVES BEING HIMSELF AND A PALADIN AND DIDN’T WANT TO CHANGE IT FOR A MOMENT, HE CHOSE IT EVERY TIME, HE HAS NO PROBLEM WITH WHO AND WHAT HE IS 

THERE’S NOTHING ELSE IN THE WORLD HE’D RATHER BE JUST HIMSELF

KURON/SHIRO TRULY SEES HIMSELF AS A SHIELD AND WANTS TO PROTECT OTHERS, WHILE ALSO GETTING A CHANCE TO RELAX AND SHOW JUST HOW DORKY HE IS

LOVES HIS TEAM AND SPENDING TIME LIKE THIS WITH THEM, THIS IS PROBABLY THE LONGEST TIME HE’S SPENT WITH THEM JUST DOING SOMETHING FUN, DND TAKES H O U R S 

HE WANTS TO KEEP DOING STUFF LIKE THIS WITH THE PALADINS HE HAD SUCH A GREAT TIME, PROBABLY FOR THE FIRST TIME IN A VERY LONG TIME

AND THE TEAM LOVE HIM SO MUCH, SO MUCH THEY PLAY GAMES WITH HIM AND HAVE SO MUCH FUN, CORAN EVEN SUGGESTS HOW TO CONTINUE THE CAMPAIGN AFTER SEEING HOW EVERYONE, ESPECIALLY SHIRO LOVED IT SO MUCH  

I THINK MORE OF THE SHIRO WITHIN KURON CAME OUT WHILE HE WAS UNDER HAGGAR’S CONTROL, HE MAY BE A CLONE BUT HE IS STILL SHIRO AND A HUMAN BEING

THE REGRET IN HIS EYES THE MOMENT KEITH FINALLY BROKE THROUGH, FOLLOWED QUICKLY BY ANGER AND FRUSTRATION BECAUSE HE’S STILL FIGHTING UNDER HAGGER’S CONTROL

SHIRO/KURON’S VOICE WAVERED AND BROKE WHEN HE TOLD KEITH TO STOP FIGHTING THAT IT DIDN’T MATTER ANYMORE BECAUSE THE OTHERS WERE DEAD BECAUSE OF HIM, HE HONESTLY SOUNDED SO BROKEN BENEATH THE ANGER, YOU CAN’T TELL ME HE WASN’T FILLED WITH SO MUCH GUILT AND REGRET FOR WHAT HE’D DONE

IT WAS AS IF HE WAS TRYING TO SAY TO KEITH “WHAT WAS THE POINT FOR US TO KEEP GOING ON IF EVERYONE ELSE, OUR FAMILY, WAS DEAD BECAUSE I FAILED TO PROTECT THEM AND COULDN’T FIGHT BACK HAGGAR’S CONTROL”  

AND THEN WHEN HE FINALLY BROKE THROUGH AND REALITY CAME CRASHING BACK TO WHAT HE’S DONE HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT HE’D DONE, HE LOOKS AT KEITH WITH SO MUCH REGRET

Taking a step back for a moment, I have to wonder how Haggar was able to make a spitting replica of Shiro, INCLUDING HIS MEMORIES, Kuron IS Shiro by all accounts, I believe the DnD episode was supposed to prove he had humanity and essentially the soul of Shiro. What I’m thinking is Haggar’s control exploited parts of Shiro’s own personality, negative parts he keeps DEEP AND HIDDEN AWAY FOR NO ONE TO SEE, because he needs to be a shield and protector for the paladins, his family

The Paladins were the ones on Kuron’s mind while he was dying because he loves them with all his heart, they are his found family and gave him a reason to smile again when he was so close to death, he traveled across the universe to find them again

Shiro has always been a fighter, he’s fought against the odds and just wants to be free and protect those he loves, but don’t you think after so much pain and suffering, Shiro never had doubts? What if he couldn’t do it? What if he was really going to die no matter what he did? What if the pain never stopped?

This may have been Shiro’s exeriences, but Kuron had them as well. I believe this is what Haggar exploited, those doubts, which made it so difficult for Kuron to break free, until Keith told him he loved him

Keith did not treat Kuron like a monster

It was still painful for him to see a version of Shiro like this and being forced to fight him. He still saw Shiro in him, even though he knew while he was fighting him he was a clone, they were surrounded by other clones, it’s not hard to miss 

Keith kept holding on even as they fell

Keith still wanted to save him, because he knew Kuron is Shiro and was worth saving, that he is still a human being with emotions and feelings and memories after everything they had gone through  

He wasn’t going to give up on him on the one person who never gave up on him

If Kuron was not Shiro and just a pawn, he would not have hesitated when Keith told him he loves him 

Another important thing to remember: the Black Lion and Shiro (since his soul is currently with her) rejected Kuron because they knew he was a fake

That is until the lives of the Paladins and the rebels/refugees were in danger, the moment Kuron begged the Black Lion to trust him again

Black and Shiro KNEW Kuron was still Shiro and not just a pawn and took that chance to trust him, the Black Lion did not reject him again because they knew they might still be able to have a chance with him

Kuron is Shiro, he has always been Shiro, Kuron loves the team and they love him because to them he was no different than Shiro, even Shiro and the Black Lion took that chance to trust him 

And even though the real Shiro is back, it still felt like we lost a part of Shiro, Kuron could not survive without Haggar, it would seem, but I would like to think when Shiro woke up, he is in a way a combination of Kuron and Shiro since he’d likely have those memories Kuron experienced

The Shiro who woke up could be both Shiro and Kuron because of their combined memories

Shiro would remember both of their lives since the moment his physical body died, to the moment Kuron first awoke and “escaped” the galra up to the present. Even though Shiro actively did not experience Kuron’s memories, Shiro would still treat them as his own memories because Kuron behaved just as he would have because they are the same person when it comes down to it. Shiro will have a connection to these memories, almost like it was all a dream while at the same time it was like he still experienced it himself. I also believe Shiro, more than anyone, would understand Kuron was a victim just as much as him, along with all the other Shiro clones that were created and are now destroyed.  

I think Shiro would mourn that in a way Kuron is “gone” 

Kuron, the one who played DnD with the team and truly felt like there was no need to be anyone else but himself even if they were playing pretend, Kuron, who had done the whole Shiro the Hero persona during the Voltron Show, Kuron, who was so happy to see Matt was alive and hugged him when Matt had tried to go for a handshake, Kuron, who joked with Sam about wanting to punch Iverson for him for strapping him to a table when he returned to Earth, and more painfully, Kuron’s escape and journey across space alone. Shiro would not be aware of Kuron’s memories of the escape until his mind and spirit were transferred into Kuron’s body. It wasn’t until then that Shiro would feel the fear and pain Kuron felt in his final thoughts, thinking he’d die never finding the paladins, their found family, until Keith and the Black Lion finally found him. 

It also brings up the matter, why did the Black Lion/Shiro decide to find Kuron while he was on the brink of death? That’s because it wasn’t until Kuron was so close to death and the only thing he could think of were the Paladins that his quintessence truly matched Shiro’s. There was also likely the matter that the Black Lion knew Shiro needed a body if he was ever going to return, they just needed to wait for the right time which was when Allura would gain the ability to be able to transfer Shiro’s life to Kuron. It wasn’t until Kuron had proven himself that Shiro and the Black Lion realized Kuron was a human being and not just Haggar’s puppet and spy. 

In conclusion, Shiro and Kuron are opposite sides of the same coin

Shiro and Kuron’s arc was amazing and breathtaking since episodes like the DnD one made you actually CARE about Kuron because we truly got to see into his and Shiro’s personalty, that yes, they’re both firm leaders who have to make difficult decision, but they also know when to take a break and have some fun, like Kuron with DnD or Shiro when he was having a goo fight in space with the paladins before they found Olkaron. 

Though, I wished that for a moment before Shiro woke up that Shiro and Kuron shared a moment together on the astral plane and had a “You’re me and I’m you” moment before merging together to wake up as someone who is both Shiro and Kuron and anyone who is happy Kuron is gone and hating him for 3 fucking seasons should be ashamed, Kuron was still a person and he had tried to resist Haggar several times

Kuron was a living human BEING. HE IS SHIRO.

Littlefinger and Jonsa

So I want to talk about an old and totally strange spoiler/news/fanprediction ( not sure what it was because there is not much to read about it) about Littlefinger and Ghost deleted scene from season 6.

I found not much at all related to this deleted scene but from what I understood after his talk with Sansa in the godswood of Winterfell the scene was not supposed to end like we saw it but with Littlefinger turning his head around to see Ghost staring at him.

Now if it’s true can you imagine the great importance of it?

Ghost=Jon Snow and it would have been epic to see him looking after Sansa, protecting her from afar... sadly this was cut out in the final edit... or more probably this was never a real scene.

Anyway true or fake doesn’t really matter because I already had this idea in mind and I really like the meaning behind a scene like this hypothetical scene and most of all I hope for something like that to happen in season 7.

We know Jon will leave Winterfell ( not because of the fanfiction/spoilers but because of the photos) and it's not so wrong to think that he will not take Ghost with him so I really hope he will leave Ghost behind as Sansa's protector, or in other words I really hope that the writers will use Ghost as Sansa's protector in season 7 and not forget about him again.

It may look like nothing really important ( mostly because the show cut direwolves scenes too much) but since direwolves represent their owners I like the idea that Jon will somehow keep his promise even while he will be gone... he can't promise "I'll protect you, I promise" and just leave her: it's not right, it's not fair, it's not proper. I really think it will be anticlimactic if Jon will just go without making sure Sansa will have all the protection possible and Ghost is the strongest protector for sure, his instinct is more reliable than any man ( Tormund) or woman ( Brienne), and Jon and Ghost like all the Starks share a powerful connection so it will be a strong statement about how much he cares for her because no Starks ever left their direwolves behind (not even for a family member) and when it happened it was not intentional.

Anyway going back to Littlefinger, when I was searching more articles for that deleted scene I read again Aidan Gillen (aka Littlefinger himself) interview with The Huffington Post (here) and since I didn't use tumblr when I first read it I think now it's a good time to share my 2 cents on what he said... because if Littlefinger even remotely suggest that Jonsa it's a possibility I have something to say about it.

So what I want to talk about is this:

When asked if we should be worried about Sansa and Jon’s relationship, Gillen said, “Do you mean after the scene where it’s implied strongly who Jon’s parents really are? Well, their relationship has new potential now in light of that for sure. Although, I think having been brought up as siblings, they’re not going to want to go there. Anyway, while the viewers saw it in flashback, it’s a secret from a long time back, so who does know? But someone must, and I wouldn’t rule anything out.”

First of all... wow he right away talked about Jonsa. I would have had nothing to say if he started to talk about the infamous betrayal many think will happen in season 7 because his character is a main player in it, but in truth he didn't even address that topic if not asked expressly... first thing he just talked about Jonsa.

In my opinion this is an admission that in truth Jonsa is a possibility directly from Littlefinger the master player.

What does it mean for me and what do I hope for? That Littlefinger/Gillen is right and that the main point about Jon and Sansa relationship in season 7 will be the change in their relationship now that they are cousins.

I hope ( in truth I'm 90% sure, but since it's not my story I know I can be wrong) that the betrayal plot is just another red herring put at the end of the season to create more suspense. Like when Sansa showed up with black hairs and the black dress and everyone said she was going to be full evil the next season... how wrong they were since Ramsey was in her future. Sansa was strong as much as she could while she was with that monster but she wasn't the evil b**ch haters hoped she would become.

I'm not saying that Littlefinger won't try it, he will for sure. Littlefinger already told Sansa a couple of times that Jon is not really her brother, he is her half-brother... so he will have the perfect weapon if he somehow learn how true that statament is.

Maybe he already knows it but I don't think so. If you ask me during the time when Jon will not be in Winterfell Littlefinger will find out about Jon's true heritage as soon as Sansa will, thanks to his spy master ability, and will try to use it against him. Sansa will have to save Jon's throne from his scheming for sure ( there is no way she will betray him now that she has her family back) and in doing so she will slay a savage giant in a castle built of snow.

Anyway that's just my speculation about the betrayal but going back to Gillen saying “they are not going to want to go there” it’s probable that this statament means that in the next season we will see how Jon and Sansa will face the dilemma “Needs vs Wants” and possibly overcome it... maybe it will go on until season 8. In other words Jon and Sansa union can be something that they will need to do more than something that they will want to do... at first.

I read a lot about Jonsa and I agree with the theory that it will start as a political union to keep the North together when all hell will break loose and Jon's heritage will be releaved.

Because let's be honest Westeros is not the perfect happy world where a secret so big will have no serious repercussions in the political system that elected Jon KiTN ( as much as fans/shippers want it this is not the kind of world where the Northerners will happily bend the knee again so easily or will follow their leader no matter what... anyone remember the Karstark? Theon? the Bolton? Poor Robb learned it the hard way that Westeros is not a perfect world... and he was a true Stark ).

Resuming the previous topic Gillen words totally fit with a plot in which Jonsa will happen because they need it politically. Since a true Stark lost his claim in the past anything can happen to an half Stark who in truth is a member of the most hated family in the North, hated as much as House Lannister ( yes, Jon is a Stark because Lyanna was a Stark but his father family is more important in the world the story is taking place in so he is half Stark).

The idea of a political union also fit very well with the Ned and Catelyn 2.0 parallels that are present in the show/books because Ned and Cat wedding wasn't a great love story from the start, it was something that they did out of duty, but with time it became a love union, not as exciting as secret passions in the woods, but stronger. It lasted longer.

"Love didn't just happen to us. We built it slowly, stone by stone, over the years."

From this perspective Jon never ending gazing, the obvious tension and the amazing chemistry in season 6 are perfect starting points to begin to slowly build the kind of relationship that they will need to create. Because in GoT world it's one thing to marry someone who is a sister to you, it's a different thing to marry someone who secretely deep down you don’t see like a sister, in truth someone who were never close as a sister to him.

In conclusion there is the part where Gillen said: "But someone must ( know), and I wouldn’t rule anything out" ( too similar to what Sophie Turner also said about Jonsa) that, like it's written in the article, let me hope that maybe they wouldn’t go “there“ right away, but still... Sansa and Jon... sitting in a tree... yeah, it's what I want.

I hope I won’t end up like Ned for trusting Gillen

P.S. Since I’m talking about Littlefinger and Jonsa, am I the only one that see a black man bun on the bottom of this photo?

Like in other photos that were shared from season 7 I see a person in the background that is blurred and the first image that was shared of Jon Snow was him talking to Sansa in a similar location... maybe the 2 images are linked. And if they are linked I’m just happy Jonsa images are the first images we get for the next season.

Possession. Stiles gets posseed and then disapears. He’s mentally in a psych ward but he’s not there the nogitsune is like a weeping angel getting closer and closer.

Psych Ward [Not Real] Summer vacation when he’s home with the threat of an alpha pack [Real]

Lydia takes them to a basment shere the dead vessiln originally is.

Stiles see’s evidence of him doing things at the school (Cheminacls and bad pranks and threats, uses a camera and finds himself sleep walking. Figures out the ward is a fake since lydia takes him there and see’s it’s desolate and run down.

This place was never real, you’ve been asleep for a while,

Stiles wakes up harshly to see his pack before him and saying he’s been missing for two weeks.

They find stiles but he admits hes possesed. Peter tells them with Lydia and scott to go inside Stiles mind to combat it.

Fox chasing Stiles and Lydia then Stiles sacrifices himself and they all wake up back in the real world.

Stiles is currently playing Chess. In stiles mind their in the school and it has a golden glow of sunset once the sun goes down in stiles mind thats when the nogitsune takes over. Derek slanned stioes against the wall and distrusts him and stiles is like itsyour uncle! If anyone should be slamming people into Walls it should be me wait- thats not right laura helps him out.

No wonder I still don't know what a vagina looks like! I bet it's like a doughnut, right? Back in New York, Power Girl threatens to take Slade into the police now that she knows he is an assassin. So Slade does something that all of Slade's Fangenders finally won't be able to go along with. Maybe they can justify fucking a teenager and getting her killed. Maybe they can justify killing whomever he wants for the right price without letting any kind of justice but his own ethics decide. But how will they justify this dick move?

He murdered a fucking dog! He's as huge a monster as Peter J. Tomasi and Patrick Gleason!

This scene is why I love Priest's Deathstork book and why every other Deathstork book has failed upon until now. Slade will do anything — ANYTHING — for his own benefit. Before this moment, Slade tells Power Girl that there are no heroes and no villains. That "people simply do what they do." And that's how I want to see Slade written. He is not the upstanding, ethical hero who knows when it's right to kill. He's just a fucking guy doing what he needs to do for himself and, sometimes (though not often!), his family. And when a writer decides they need to make Slade likable at any cost, it costs the book its personality. Ironically, Slade needs to do wretched and unpopular things to be likable. He has to be Slade Wilson. He needs to be free to be Deathstroke. Most writers up until now just haven't had the stomach for it. Power Girl, obviously, flips the fuck out when he murders her dog. Now Slade, blind and without a guide dog, has to figure out a way to get away from Power Girl. It shouldn't be too hard. It's not like she's an experienced Teen Titan that knows Slade's tricks and behaviors. It's not like she's like the guy she kicked out who just wanted pizza and could totally have helped her catch Slade. Hopefully he knew better than to simply go home and forget about seeing Slade in Tanya's apartment. This might be the beginning of that whole Judas Contract thing. I mean Lazarus Contract! Slade manages to track down his suit while evading Power Girl, thanks to his glasses' connection with Ikon Suit Wintergreen. Ikon Suit Wintergreen is all, "I cannot come up with a plan to kill her." And Slade is all, "Whoa, what now? I don't want to kill her! I just want to fuck her! OH!" And the suit is all, "Dude, you should probably hope that the Superman Reborn story did not include reintegrating you with your Terra history." And Slade is all, "No way! That's one sweet ass memory!" Slade escapes to live again but at what cost? How many Deathstork Fangenders have just decided this is the worst version of Deathstork ever? They're wrong, of course! This is the absolutely finest characterization of Deathstork I've seen in a comic book with his name on it. This is the Deathstork I keep writing about which almost always gets me yelled at by Deathstork fans. Usually those fans are fans of the Slade from the Teen Titans cartoon, so they can be forgiven for not truly understanding what Slade Wilson really is. But now they know! He murdered Tanya's pet for pretty much no other reason than to make her hate him and cause her to be distracted by the pain of loss while he escaped her. What a fucking dick. I love it! Although I still hate that Tomasi and Gleason had Superboy kill his mom's cat Goldie because that's just fucking painful. He will never get over being responsible for the death of a family pet. Never! No matter how much Pete and Pat try to pretend it didn't happen. Goldie had better get the chance to return to life like every other superhero! Hopefully whatever weird shit is going on in the ground around the Kent Farm and Deadman's Swamp will bring Goldie back. But she'll be different! They never come back right! You reap what you sow! Meanwhile, Rose (like the Deathstork Fangenders) is having a nervous breakdown after realizing just how big a monster her father is. But Wintergreen, Slade's spin specialist, PR Agent, and all around conscience in waiting, spends some time on the phone trying to convince her (and himself) that he's better than he appears to be.

Oh, and just to be clear: Ikon Suit Wintergreen explicitly mentions how Slade killed the dog. I only say that because I'm less than trustworthy in the way I usually relate events in the comic book. But he did kill Roscoe. Snapped his neck like a doggy biscuit! Meanwhile, Joseph is having problems of his own. Etienne just discovered that Joseph was fucking Dr. Ikon on the side. And because of that, she lets Joseph know that she's been fucking Slade on the side. So I guess that's why he's going to have to murder her. Or at least that's giving him a reason to murder her so all of the Wilsons are now suspects! I know she isn't dead yet but the comic book keeps showing the scene of her dead in her wedding gown so I'm assuming it's going to happen. But who will do it?! Rose the angry sister? Joseph the beta cuck? Slade the dog murderer?! So many people to choose from! The Ranking! +1! I never would have thought that I'd raise the ranking of a comic book where the lead character just murdered a pet. Context is important!
