rewatching the first episode of freshman year after the finale of junior year just makes fabian's arc hit so hard
#fantasy high#i am so proud of him#the literal first conversation being bill telling him that they're only worth as much as their legacy#and that bill's legacy is fabian's legacy#and then him going into school with all that toxic bluster#the bloodrush tryout is so amazing. the dice giving the nat 20 athletics with the nat 1 perception#the complete disregard for teamwork. the insistence that he must be great#as much as fabian has had so many horrible things happen to him. this version of him needed all of that to happen in order to tear down#this persona he was trapped in. toxic masculinity is dead indeed#but yeah this fabian who agrees over and over with everything his parents tell him. who hisses that his bribe should have granted him#a spot on the team. who's dismissed completely rightfully for his attitude. even as the superiority lingers#the fabian hasn't yet made his friends. hasn't yet lost his eye and his father. hasn't yet nearly drowned in leviathan after failing#to uphold any legacy at all#hasn't yet rebuilt himself#hasn't yet looked his dead father in the eye and had the self-reflection to understand what he had been made to be#and how that hurt him.#and ask bill to understand the same#oh my god he's such a little prick in freshman year i love him so much
