Chnt cats :3 I changed some names to align with Blue Mayfield’s picks, as well Cardinalsun, Skyfall and Troutleap are inspired by his concept art. As for the rest of em… >:3
Wolfmask (Elijah) is a Javanese cat, rogue
Bluemoon (Sydney) is an unknown ragdoll mix, medicine cat of course
Cardinalsun (Jedidiah) is an unknown oriental shorthair mix. Idk he is honk to me. Medcat
Appleblood (Adam) is an Abyssinian cat but also a demon so he’s allowed to have unrealistic paisley fur lol
Skyfall (aka Acornsky, Rowan) is an unspecified mix… he cloud
Mosscreep (Soren) is a lykoi and he has fleas
Lightningstrike (Yvonne) is a Cornish Rex and she enjoys rolling around in the grass and berries and pollen to stain her fur
Mousehowl (Joshua. AKA WHITECLAW) is an orange American bobtail cat. He has terrible balance and makes for the WORST warrior.
Owleyes (aka Owlstar, Lucille) is a grey tuxedo cat
Goldenbell (Marisol) is a particularly fluffy tortoiseshell cat (trans cat win)
Rattlespike (Salem) is a chartreux
Troutleap (Juniper) is… maybe a Turkish angora? Feels such a shame to not give him a British cat breed but none of em fit quite right…

i think one of my most useless pet peeves is that i can't stand when people try to identify the breed of a random cat the same way you might with a dog
okay people are also shit about identifying dog breeds, but the thing about dogs is that breeds are generally very distinct. a lot of people can clock various breeds when the dog is purebred or a mix that leans hard one way. if a dog looks like a collie, chances are it is. gsds, jack russel terriers, greyhounds, dalmatians--many dogs are super easy to pick out if you know what that breed typically looks like. mixes are harder but sometimes it's still doable for casual dog lovers depending on how many breeds are involved.
cats are not the same.
that short haired seal point is not a siamese. it's a domestic shorthair.
that big long haired cat is not a maine coon. it's a domestic longhair.
that grey cat is not a russian blue. it's a dsh again.
and Cat Enthusiasts know these things. they know that unless a cat is from a breeder the chances of it being a purebred or even a mix of two or three breeds is unlikely. Cat Enthusiasts also tend to know specific breed traits that stick out to them but not to a casual cat enjoyer. some breeds are super obvious, like sphynxes and lykois (heaven forbid, don't buy lykois from breeders), but people constantly guess at the breeds of any given cat posted to a pet pics channel, and guys? it's a domestic shorthair.
this is not a bad thing! mutt cats are good cats! they're also super prevalent and come in so many colors and patterns it would make your head spin. it's not the point pattern that makes a siamese, most breeds can come in that pattern and all the dsh/dlh cats can absolutely come out that way. same goes for a lot of colors and patterns. as for things like russian blues and bombays, if you see a real one, you can tell that solid grey or black fur aren't actually good indicators by themselves. (seriously, look up russian blues. their fur color and eyes are so distinct.)
cat genetics are wack and i promise you most cats are not purebred or even low mixes. this pet peeve has been with me for a long time but it's gotten 10x worse since i got this thing 👇
Tumblr media
his siblings were tabbies. i promise he's not a siamese.

Worldbuilding; Furry Edition pt 3!
Another longer post here! I love doing these hc's in the mcd/mystreet universe.
Note: this one is way more out there compared to others, as I'm introducing the Mewv'ail!
Today we are looking at the very unusual and rarely seen Mewv'ali.
A very rare genetic mix of a Mewf'ia and Werewolf, Mewv'ail have traits of both parents.
[The more science-y part is that Mewf'ia is a Dominant Gene while Werewolf is a Recessive Gene. The Punnet Square turns into the Punnet Cube of 3x3, and there the Werewolf gene is wwW, while Mewf'ia is closer to MmM. To get a Mewv'ail, there is roughly ~11% chance if both come from soley Werewolf/Mewf'ia. If there is human involed, that lowers down to a 0.37% chance.]
They are referred to as Golden or Blessed Foxes in the native werewolf and mewf'ia languages. The hybrid speaking of the name leads to the human pronouciation of "Mew-va-li"
They have much bushier tails then Mewf'ias, but more dexterity then that of a werewolf. Tail rings are usually in a larger size, and they omit the bells that are on them
Ears are very flexible, but are just thick enough to have ear piercings to work.
Compared to both parents, they pratically have no bare skin rather then their face. The coat is the thinnest on the arms and neck, and the thickest is on their chest and back.
Claws are constantly filed down, and coats have vast ranges. From a cat coat of the lykoi to a Irish Wolfhound coat, but a good majority have fox coats.
Like both parents, coats are very regional. 40% have fox coats with some rare exceptions (like the lykoi coat). The most frequent coat is the Artic Fox and the Red Fox.
30% of Coats come from the Canis family, such as the Ehtiopian Fox or Golden Jackel.
The other 30% comes from coat-mashups. Think of the lykoi coat with cats, coats can vary with length, color, and texture.
Mantiance of hair and coats are high, usually requiring more then just the simple shampoo and conditoner. Depending on the day, several different combs, brushes, and oils have to be used.
Socially, body lanuage is a mash. The laughing and baring teeth to show exictment, high pitch vocalization, and fast tail movement are contridictary to both Werewolf and Mewf'ia socalization. It leads to a mashing of lanuages (similar to how Spanglish happens).
A mix of culture happens as well, usually from both parents. Dishes are often altered to fit the unusual diet that Mewv'ail has, both festivals are celebrated, but somethings are fully omitted.
Socially, Mewv'ails are truely an oddball. Too Werewolf for Mewf'ias, too Mewf'ia for Werewolves, and nowhere near human. Socal isolation is very common and it leads to homeschooling or private schools compared to public and co-ed schools.
this has been in my drafts for too long, so here it is! let me know if you have any ideas/want more elaboration

This is a blog to highlight cats available for adoption that are declawed, disabled, geriatric or purebred. These are the only requirements for a cat to be featured here.
As stated in the blog description I am not affiliated with any of the organizations whose adoptable cats are featured here. The information presented in the posts is publicly available, I am only drawing attention to it.
I encourage you to always do your research before you adopt or purchase a pet. Just as there are bad breeders there are bad rescues and shelters.
Post will follow the following format.
Cat Name [Original Post]
Age | Sex | Breed*
Other Information
Location [Rescue]**
Date of Post
* Breed will be listed based on apparent breed and not listed breed, as rescue and shelters often mislabel cats under the assumption that their breeds function similarly to dogs. Unless I have reason to believe it is a genuine breed or breed mix I will label them as Domestic Shorthair or Domestic Longhair.
I may occasionally share retired breeding cats.
** The majority of adoptable cats will be from Canada and the United States as these are the countries where Petfinder is available.
I will consider cats to be seniors and eligible for sharing here when estimated at 10+ years.
Here is an incomplete list of qualifying disabilities: Allergies, Amputation, Blindness, Cerebellar Hypoplasia, Chronic Kidney Disease, Enucleation, Deafness, Diabetes, FeLV/FIV+, Hyperthyroidism, Manx Syndrome, Neoplasia, Scottish Fold Osteochondrodysplasia, Seizure Disorder.
I consider declawed cats to be disabled due to having multiple amputations which often result in chronic pain, inappropriate elimination and increased quickness to bite.
You are welcome to submit cats you would like to see featured, but please include a link to their original adoption listing.
You are welcome to make requests to see more cats from a particular area, of a specific breed or color, with a particular health condition, and so forth. I cannot guarantee these requests will be met.
Due to the time sensitive nature of these posts this blog will rarely use a queue and will instead posts in spurts.
You may make requests to see more of a particular breed, location, or health condition. These will be answered in the body of the ask instead of as seperate posts in order to avoid clutter.

Kon + Tim catified designs wtf
Kon is a lykoi-ish cat (I'm just very bad at drawing lykoi kitties) so just handwavey any discrepancies w he's a clone mix of two ppl so like. wah
One ear is floppy, the other is folded; the floppy ear goes in the direction the hair swoops (so, if you draw the swoop towards the right, the right ear will be floppy!)
Tim is just vibing um. he's certainly a cat. I settled on pointed ears that are shredded which is why his RR outfit first has a cowl on it (to cover any distinct scars on his ears!)

SO- I was listening this Unleash the Magic But Better and it got me thinking.
It's necessarily about canon but I thinking about Starclan blessing a cat with a special power like Dovewing and the others. It made me wonder.
Like, what if a clan just peer pressured a blessed apprentice into using their power for their own benefits? Like I understand why they're not as open with their gifts but, I got me imagining my little lykoi boy named Strangepaw and a winged cat named Rock Dove.
Strangepaw being pressured into using his abilities of basically straight up magic.
Just like in Unleash the Magic it backfires horribly and everything goes bad for everyone and Rock Dove being Strange's best friend helps him snap out of his mental and emotional breakdown
and I wonder about how it would be in canon. Like would the clans even try to take advantage of Jay, Lion, and Dove?
I mean I think they would but also-
What'd ya think?
Does sound like something that somewhat happened to DoveWing (I remember that scene where LionBlaze felt bad for DoveWing being so overwhelmed by her powers only to then go "So did you hear anything useful"), but I wish we'd had actually seen it more, so my attention is drawn towards this idea. I really like your little dude StrangePaw and his emotional support friend Rock Dove and I can imagine how much the clan stresses out StrangePaw with constantly asking for so much from such a young cat. (Adding in the ask you sent afterwards of Rock Dove and StrangePaw)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It would of been neat if after the powers of Jay and Lion were revealed, that's when their attitude also soured a lot (Obviously a mix of a lot of things but I digress). It'd be just that while JayFeather and LionBlaze believed that they just need to accept their destinies and their powers with no question, DoveWing was actually able to snap out of it and see that there was more to her existence than her powers, her clan abusing her hearing powers stressed her out and it was only after she lost them was when it all started to sink in for her. Sadly JayFeather and LionBlaze don't change, they're so stubborn and dead set on one thing only

This is what I imagine Han Sooyoung's fursona would look like. It's a mix between a Domestic Housecat (specifically took insp from a Lykoi) and a dragon :]

Physical descriptor guide
Genders and pronouns - Self-explanatory, though they have no connections in the generator to make one gender more likely to have a certain pronoun than others. This is because anyone can use any pronouns (unless you're perisex using intersex exclusive pronouns, then leave), and it isn't indicative of their gender. While yes, pronouns tend to correlate with their associated gender irl, it is not a natural requirement that they do.
intersex cats have a 17% chance to occur, mirroring real life estimates for intersexism. can't remember if I based this on human or cat estimates, but given that most cats don't get gender tested at all, I'd imagine I did human.
Coatbase (primary color) - Self-explanatory. Albinism and Melanism have a 10% chance of occurring, though. Vitiligo is contained on this variable with an occurrence rate of 10% as well. A cat with white in the spot where the primary color goes is genetically white, and possibly has separate white spotting.
Pattern (Tabby or not) - All the types of tabby i'm aware of, as well as no tabby. Solid coats have a 50% occurrence rate (as opposed to 100% on the others).
Whitespot (amount of white fur that would appear on a non white cat) - Low to high spotting is covered between a few different ways of saying each, and no white has a 200% chance of occurring.
Scar descriptors - contains a general amount descriptor (no numbers) and appearance of scars on the cats. Only 3 descriptive traits for scars exist right now - nasty, small, and gnarly, as well as a chance for no quantity qualifiers or a chance for no descriptor at all.
Eye color - all the colors I can think of plus a few from clangen. Mixed refers to dichoric heterochromia, where the eyes contain two colors in at least one eye, and Odd-eyed refers to the stereotypical heterochromia where they have two differently colored eyes. Currently unsure if I want to include variables for cats who have both forms of heterochromia, as that's an even deeper amount of variables and this generator is already almost 4k lines. Ocular Albinism is also possible.
body type - Ranges from actual cat body types to descriptors of builds. Cobby, Semi-cobby, substantial, foriegn, semi-foriegn, and (sadly, these terms are super old but please do tell me if there's a better term for this one in the cat owning/breeding community) oriental are the six cat build/body types officially recognized and all cats, purebred or otherwise, fall into one of those categories.
length - Refers to coat length, long and short are the only ones not specific to a breed. Balding refers to Lykoi and Donskoy types of furs, patchy is referring to uneven fur loss of any kind. The "unevenly" descriptor on long and short is in reference to a chimera who may not have had the same fur length genes as an embryo, and is one of the only ways to know if your character is generated as a chimera.
fur texture (how the fur feels to touch) - most of these are self explanatory, but here's a few descriptions for possibly confusing ones:
Scraggly - generally unkempt but could also refer to kinked fur
Oily - also can be known as greasy, cats naturally produce oils with their skin that can cling to their fur, but you don't typically feel them on touch because the grooming process keeps the oil from building up. A cat who is oily/greasy to the touch does not groom itself enough and can indicate there is an underlying problem.
Curly (50% occurrence rate) - refers to the rex breeds. Devon, Cornish, selkirk, etc. This cat may not be entirely rex, but they probably have a direct ancestor (I'd say parent bc idk how far curly carries down) who is/was.
Hygiene - basically how your cat's fur usually appears. a cat who rolls one of the dirty descriptors can either be a cat who doesn't clean themself enough, or just likes/happens to get messy constantly.

aaaaand 🐢 & 🐱 !
🐢 Are your turtles different species? They’re all based on Red-Eared Sliders mostly, with a little mix of Alligator Snapping Turtle! Raph has the spikiest shell of the four but Mikey has the strongest bite.
🐱 Do any of your characters have pets? Mikey has Klunk, a lykoi-esque cat/bat hybrid. The turtles don’t really know how Klunk’s species came to be but they do know that Klunk is nocturnal, noisy, and has a ferocious appetite for small mammals. They keep him away from Splinter, just in case the little guy tries to feed off him. Similarly, Donnie has Bax, a scrapped Mouser he found and put back together. Bax’s name came from a scratched off label that marked it as Baxter Stockman’s robot, and Donnie decided to keep the name. Bax is like Donnie’s little assistant, always hanging around the lab.
