we'd been saying for years how we wanted to get teejay dna tested bc he's such a mystery dog, he's looked like several different combinations of breeds throughout his lifetime. every vet at the practice has a different guess for him. as soon as we got the confirmation he was on his last legs, i ordered a kit right when we got home and with luck it arrived about 30 mins ago.
#hopefully we got a good enough sample out of him#and his last little gift to us can be his lifelong puzzle being solved#and maybe it can also help some cousins of his found roaming the street be on the look out for health issues#if he wound up passing before the test got here we were just gonna use it on mitzi our schnoodle#and yes we already know her full breed makeup but why not you know??

It's hard saying goodbye to a pet, even when you know its coming. Goodbye Schnoodles, you funky little eel. Reigning heavyweight champ of the fish tank, happy and fat and loved. Thank you for bringing joy to my life and letting me hand feed you. Thank you for not biting me even when I fed you late. Thank you for trusting me to pick you up and put you in the net even when you weren't feeling great. Thank you for living even when I forgot to feed you or let the tank get dirty when I was depressed. Thank you for surviving through all my faults and failings and still being the happiest little water noodle ever. I'll miss you.

Maya Rumsey, an American ceramic master, also sells her works as Melissa Maya Pottery.
"I'm a ceramic artist living in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. I grew up in Toledo, Ohio and graduated in 2008 from Bowling Green State University in Ohio where I got a BFA in glass and ceramics. After graduating I did some wandering around, worked at the Omega Institute (where met my husband), lived in Costa Rica for a while, became a yoga teacher and then settled in Colorado where I started making ceramics again. I was in Denver for seven years growing my business and then moved to Idaho and brought the business with me. I live here now with my husband, two little girls and schnoodle where I make pottery in my new backyard studio.
There is something wonderful about holding a handmade object. It's hard to put into words but we all know that feeling. I think it's a pretty good feeling. My hope is that these pieces will be fun and functional and bring a little happiness into your everyday activities like serving a meal, growing a plant, having your morning coffee or sipping your evening tea."

Bree and Haley have no real relatives on Embark (it just says they're basically 12% related to every Boston Terrier and Sheltie). But Leia has multiple relatives that might be half-siblings or cousins. I'm like prettttyyyy sure that Leia is originally from a Quebec puppy mill. So it does kind of track that she actually has a lot of relatives that are weird little mixes of every small breed. Every now and then I get a notification from Embark that she has a new "close relative", and it's ACTUALLY potentially a relative. When I get updates for Bree and Haley it's just because someone tested another Boston Terrier or Sheltie.
Leia had like 4 owners before she ended up with my parents at only 9 months old. So I don't know her whole story. She's a good weird little fake Schnoodle. But she was most probably bred by horrible greedy people who labelled her as a Cockapoo because that would get them a few thousand dollars.

I need The Newsreader to have a bigger fandom just so I can have more people to be insane about old!Gerry with. With his little Victorian era terrace in West Melbourne, and his once a week hour long radio show, and his little dog (a schnoodle, like my own retiree parents also have) and he and Carla are still as in love as ever. God I promise I'm normal about him and don't think about this several times a day. And he and Dale go out to the pub once a week, but they're old now, so it's only one pint, then they sit in the park and Gerry shows Dale the same picture of Allison he showed him the week before. GOD I PROMISE I'M SO NORMAL ABOUT OLD!GERRY.

secondary AU to the dog park prompt I sent - if they're the dogs trying to get their owners to meet I just think it'd be fun if Adam's owner was Kenny and Mox's owner was Eddie.
You're a goddamn menace this better not become a series.
~
Puppy Love - also on AO3
~
Kenny’s about to lose it. His new dog has been out of his mind since he’d said the words “dog park.” He’s been in Kenny’s lap as he tried to drive, and started jumping and spinning in the way he would have expected from a much younger puppy once they parked.
“Adam, come on buddy, calm down,” Kenny says. Adam jumps up and licks all over his face, and Kenny can’t help but laugh. “I know, I know, we’ll go play in a second, okay?”
Adam sprints so far ahead and so fast it almost rips Kenny’s arm out of his body, and he has to run to keep up. “Adam, slow down!”
By the time they get to the gate, Adam’s fluffy tail is moving so quickly it looks like the spokes of a fan. His tongue lolls out.
“You are a nutcase,” Kenny says, leaning down to scoop Adam up in his arms. “The cutest nutcase in the world, but you are a nutcase.”
They walk into the dog park, and Kenny has to get a hand around Adam’s harness to keep him from running off before Kenny’s ready to let him go. “Now, Adam,” Kenny says, “keep it together, okay? Last dog park you got way too excited around Stu’s dogs. It was embarrassing.”
Adam’s only response is to lick from Kenny’s chin up to his eye and run off.
“Get a schnoodle, they said,” Kenny grumbles, adjusting the strap of his tank top, “they’re really smart and easy to train, they said.” He’ll have to yell at Jay about it later. His schnoodle Phantasmo, while a little older, was not the exception to the rule, it turned out.
Adam’s run to the doggy playset and immediately runs up the slide. His little legs go frenetic as he fights against gravity.
“Let – hold on!” Kenny picks Adam up by the middle and settles him on the main structure.
“He’ll never learn how to do it if you do it for him,” comes a voice from the other side of the playset.
Kenny leans around it to see a tall man staring at Adam with a mildly amused grin. “That implies he’ll learn,” Kenny grumbles.
The guy barks out a laugh. “Nah, he just needs a firm hand. Watch.” He looks at the dog currently sniffing Adam’s butt. “Moxie. Sit.”
The dog sits automatically, looking at the guy with adoration. Adam looks at Kenny, then looks back at the guy, then sits primly next to the other dog. He looks a bit confused, but happy.
“See? Gotta be firm. Moxie, play.”
The other dog, who Kenny has to assume is Moxie, gets up and tackles Adam with a ferocity betrayed by the wagging of his tail.
“I’m Eddie,” says the guy, sticking out his hand.
“Kenny,” Kenny replies as he shakes Eddie’s hand. “You got training tips? Adam’s a rescue and has…some abandonment issues.”
Eddie blinks. “You named your fuckin’ dog Adam?”
“It’s a good name!”
“It’s a people name,” Eddie insists.
Kenny rolls his eyes. “Oh, and Moxie’s any better?”
“Moxley is a great dog name,” Eddie says, unperturbed. “Mox, Moxie, got lots of nicknames and it’s easy to yell across the dog park. Watch.” He cups a hand around his mouth. “Moxie!”
The mutt barrels toward Eddie, Adam close behind, and collides with Kenny’s knees. Kenny falls flat on his back and is immediately covered in dog.
“Oh, god. Off!” he says, laughing. “Mox, off! Adam, off!”
The dogs walk back over to Eddie. Mox sits practically on top of Eddie’s feet, and Adam follows him. Then bats Mox in the face with his paw. Mox tackles Adam to the ground, and they roll around hitting each other with their paws.
“Hmm,” Eddie says, watching Mox and Adam go after each other. “Dude, I think our dogs are in love.”
Kenny blinks. “You sure? It looks like they’re trying to kill each other.”
Eddie chuckles, that deep, kind rumble again. “I don’t know, man.” He points to where Mox and Adam are licking each other’s faces. “That looks like love to me.”
~
In this fic, Adam is a schnoodle and Mox is a husky/German shepherd/pug mix. Both are based on boy dogs I've had that were complete idiots who I adore beyond measure. If I can gather some good photos I'll add them in a reblog.
#Puppies HangMox!!!!#My dog Brodie is the base for Adam and my dog Rocket is the base for Mox#So#There's that#in which Sara writes#Yes that's an ELP reference he is also a dumb fucking schnoodle who loves his owner Jay#wtf i like wrestling now???

i love when you post pocky. he looks about identical to a dog i lived with, helped care for, and loved greatly for many years, a long time ago. even their names sound similar. ours was a rescue who we suspected to be some sort of mini schnauzer + mini poodle mix. a little schnoodle guy as it were. he was a laidback and polite sort, quiet- barely ever vocalized and when he did it was usually only one gay little bark at a time... not much for cuddling or being held but very much up for petting & always wanted to be squeezed right next to where you were sitting. and even still, though cuddling wasnt his favorite thing, he would often allow me to cuddle with or spoon him for a while before he decided he was done and got up, which i never tried to prevent. this always struck me as very gracious of him. like i said, a polite little man. i will always miss him, but despite how hostile, abusive, and unsustainable our living situation at the time was for Me personally, i take comfort in knowing he, at least, was beloved and well cared-for to the end of his days, even after i left the household. he was a source of great comfort to me there. sorry if this is tmi or unwelcome, you certainly dont have to publish this if its weird of me. but thank you for pockyposts, i always like to see pocky and be reminded of my old friend.
i love this actually its very sweet to know

how do we get through this?
I preached this sermon at the end of a long week and the stories wound together. _____________________ A couple of weeks ago, Ginger was helping Lizzy!, our little blind Schnoodle, find her way outside from our kitchen. Lizzy! got down the stairs to the patio on her own, but then she had to turn either right or left to find a way around the small stone wall that separates the patio from the back…
