at physical therapy today we did dry needling and beforehand they had us sign a waiver about risks etc and part of the text read "dry needling is not Eastern Acupuncture. It is a medical treatment that requires medical diagnosis to be effective" like the xenophobia is wild

#the implication that acupuncture is not a medical treatment that requires medical diagnosis sure is....something #i feel like there are two types of white people #the first kind who exotify and mystify acupuncture as some kind of #magical healing thing when it is in fact #a kind of medical treatment that has thousands of years of scholarship poured into it continuing into contemporary research #the other camp of white people is like 'lets debunk pseudoscience' but also conflates any kind of non western medicine with psuedoscience #personal
