DPxDC AU: Ellie was going to beat the shit out of this space cop if he was lying…she might just do it anyway but, like, fr she’ll throw down on Danny’s behalf.
Enter scene following a bad tandem clone + identity reveal where in Danny is captured and wounded, Ellie escaping just narrowly. She manages to get Sam and Tucker on her side and together the three of them save Danny. (Where was Jazz? Why couldn’t she find Jazz?)
Ellie has traveled all over the world, has seen its hospitality just as much as its hostility- besides Danny liked space right? Mostly, Ellie is panicking and, being unable to think of a place to take Danny while he’s bleeding out on her, she just goes… up. Out of the atmosphere and just beyond the satellites. It finally feels far enough away, tho she didn’t take them beyond the moon, she has limits to her paranoia thank you.
Imagine to her annoyance that apparently someone actually watches for biological materials leaving and re-entering the earth! Total Bullshit! She’s needed to make a number of trips back and forth to get Danny food and water and medical supplies- and she’s doing a damn good job of getting him stable. Too bad she hadn’t realized the ring guy following her sooner.
Turns out he’s “made a report” and “will find them justice” and “wants to help”. Yeah right. She throws down with him as best she can, and he clearly doesn’t want to hurt her so he keeps letting her get away with Danny in tow. Danny is sleeping through most of this but a few times he lets out a woop or a go get ‘em.
Eventually Hal calls the only person on the team with a single paternal bone in his body (even if it was only a single one most days). Pulling Batman into a spacesuit, into a ship and across the atmosphere shouldn’t have been that easy- though it was obvious how his agreement came immediately after Hal mentioned the wounded and entirely isolated twins he’d found.

I love how Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse said “Anyone can be Spider-Man”. I love how it inspired everyone to imagine their own Spider-People, saving the day in their own universes, with all kinds of cool, interesting personalities and aesthetics and mutations and life stories and relationships. We all put pieces of our soul into these homemade heroes. We had fun. We found community. And then Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse said, “Wow, great job! You’ve really taken our message to heart. Well, get ready for even more of everything you liked from the first movie and a new message to complement the first. Anyone can be Spider-Man… and anyone can be pulled into a cult.”
So now we all have to contemplate whether our lovingly crafted heroes would ever be on Team Mandatory Trauma Because Martyr Complex or not and why.

but what if she was a superhero-ish guy. what then. what would you do then
#fun fact! this was gonna be a magical girl squiddo#but then i got really caught up in the whole “dirty scruffy vigilante with lots of explosives who annoys all the fancy hero people”#aesthetic. but i also have some stuff#like the bows and the wing cloak that read as magical girl#and im gonna use pastel colors and cheerful colors to make it seem like she WAS initially#a really traditional happy-go-lucky magical girl who over time had to do things her own way instead of just flashy magical blasts#and so she started making bombs and became more of an underground hero of the people who don’t have a voice#but she still has that bright optimistic magical girl outlook where she knows that the *magic of Friendship* actually has power#and she’s not optimistic in spite of a darker setting#she’s optimistic *because* of it. she’s a magical girl of the alleys and the dirty towns and the messy fights#in short she’s a magical girl who’s more hands-on#more optimistic in a realistic way#like a person who might dress up as a magical girl to save the day but doesn’t have magical powers but saves the day anyway#and she HAS magical powers#mind you#but they’re chaotic and messy and she can’t control them for the sort of picture-perfect showiness of most superhero’s powers#so she learns to use them to AID her fighting#not the sole weapon she uses#and as a result she’d be much stronger than most if her powers were blocked#because she knows how to fight on her own merits too#tl;dr squiddo is a magical girl who will beat you up with no hesitation and also has bombs. lots of bombs.#squiddo#daily squiddo#the real squiddo#mcyt#uhhh#superhero au#magical girl au#????

(Leo speaking to Hephaestus:)
Leo: I used to think I was creative. I used to think I was smart. I used to take pride in the things I invented. But it’s just you, isn’t it? Everything I’m good at, everything I like about myself, it’s just your powers I inherited. If I wasn’t your son, I wouldn’t be able to do any of this. I wouldn’t be good at anything.
Leo: I thought that I had earned this. That I had learned when my mom taught me about machines, that I had built my abilities myself. But it’s all just shortcuts and fakery. It’s just god magic. It’s not real. It’s not mine.

the thing about rio is that she's not the trope of like a "super sensitive person stuck in a violent job but they want to escape". she's complex, sure, and there's layers to her that's more than just lady death, there's sensitivities there, but... she's not a hero by any means. she's also not an anti hero at all. she isn't going to help superhero types unless something's in it for her.
i mean, sure, the job isn't always fun. she hates ghosts and the concept of being part of someone's unfinished business isn't appealing. it gets in the way sometimes and seeing traumatizing things day and in and day out can get tiring sometimes. obviously she has a heart under all of that. she falls in love, she comes to trust people. she wants to be held gently and kissed and treated like she's a person. there are very few people who have ever gotten that close to her. very few who have seen that side of her.
but, on the flip side of it... she's a little evil. she's definitely crazy. but that's the fun part. rio may not kill people that often, but it sure is fun to watch!

I’ve been obsessed, obsessed, obsessed with Raisha for a while now. I know you’ve said little things about her in the past and i want to know what’s up with her/Gerathon if you’d be willing to talk about it.
I really like Raisha as a character, too! We know so little about her, but in my opinion, she's one of the most fascinating characters in the series. Unfortunately, she meets a sad end in A Revised History of Erdas.
All we know about Raisha post-infection is that she was present at the final battle in The Burning Tide, still under Zerif's control and in pretty bad shape. She vanishes off the grid after that, never mentioned again, not even in the concluding montage of Great Beast summoners reuniting with their fallen spirit animals. My retelling offers some closure, but not the good kind.
In my version of events, Raisha is flanking Zerif when he emerges from the ship with his Great Beasts. Zerif, in an act of cruel irony, saw fit to keep Raisha by his side even in her mindless, infected state. Shane, up in the archers' keep with Abeke, hardly recognizes the girl who helped steal Halawir months earlier. Later, she reappears to restrain Abeke when Zerif brings the defeated Redcloak forces to the Wyrm. When the Wyrm is killed and the parasites lose their power, though, Raisha collapses to the ground and doesn't get back up. The Wyrm had pushed her finite body to an extent that it couldn't recover from. Many people and animals in Zerif's army are the same; their possession eventually killed them. The Wyrm was a child playing with toys, the mechanics of which it couldn't possibly understand. Thankfully for it, its parasites could go on controlling a body in the event of an untimely death. Indeed, Stead raises the possibility that Raisha had been dead for some time, and the parasite was only animating a corpse.
Like I've said before, I didn't do this out of dislike for Raisha or anything like that. She was ultimately another victim of Zerif -- a young, lonely, impressionable girl he took advantage of -- and didn't deserve anything that happened to her. I'll always support AUs where she is alive and well. In my eyes, though, her story was always meant to end in tragedy. By the time she realized her mistake and reached for the light, it was too late.
Gerathon, after reemerging in southern Zhong and feeling the loss of her human partner, disappeared into the brush and is currently at large. She is only an adolescent cobra at the moment, hardly a threat... but the Great Beasts are growing, and Gerathon's time will inevitably come again. (I like the idea of her becoming a maneater as she slowly regains her former size and power, terrorizing the locals and gaining a place in their legends.) Who knows how she feels about losing Raisha. I expect, under the excruciating pain that may one day drive her to madness, there is a sweet sense of relief.
#sorry this took so long to get out!#i've said it before but i do not think gerathon would take kindly to being a spirit animal and absolutely nothing can change my mind#if raisha hadn't died of her own accord gerathon would have ended up killing her to escape the confines of their bond#i've talked before ab how interesting it would be to delve deeper into how the great beasts feel ab being spirit animals#no longer independent‚ now bound#even if they love the children they are bonded with‚ do they ever wish to be free? would they leave them behind if given the chance?#i can sort of accomplish this with gerathon‚ who actually loses her human partner#although her feelings ab it are not as complex as the others' might be bc there is simply no way she would accept being tethered to a human#gerathon who once controlled a whole army of people like they were ants would never‚ and i mean never‚ endure a partnership with one#the others all might. even kovo and halawir might come to love theirs. but not her. never her#fun fact: long before i envisioned path of the heroes‚ i had a very different concept of a fourth arc that had raisha as the villain#(truthfully it was gerathon manipulating her)#this was a next gen arc so the four heroes and all the great beast summoners were adults. their kids were the protags#in fact raisha's own daughter was one of these protags#crazy times lol#maybe at some point i'll share those very old plans. it's all hilarious and nonsensical bc i was 13 but#it paved the way for path of the heroes and for that i am eternally grateful. my sacred texts#text#asks#a revised history of erdas#spirit animals#spirit animals books#spirit animals series#raisha#gerathon#zerif#wyrm#abeke#shane#stead

soooooo popping into your ask box -- do you have any ocs youd like to share more about? :D
OMG HIII! YES—i in fact do! meet tala (first image—she’s green) and her sister, ligaya (second image—she’s yellow) my dc ocs!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i talked about tala here but to give a summary: she’s a filipino-american that’s OBSESSED with magical girls that when she gets power from being green lantern (aka has the ability to construct anything from her imagination) she pretends to be a magical girl called “sentinel stars” contrary to popular belief, the stars isn’t (just) a reference to sailor moon, but her name, which means goddess of stars. her mom named her
while she does her best to appear an optimistic person (as a symbol of peace as a “magical girl”), in reality she struggles a lot with loneliness. since her mom’s death, she’s been on her own. her dad is always busy with getting shifts for work whereas her sister, ligaya, pushed her away from their once close bond. anime is her way to fill the lonely void and being a magical girl (hero) lets her pretend to be someone she’s not: a lovable person
for ligaya—her name means happiness. yet, she’s the opposite of happy. emotionally distraught from her mom’s death, she pushed her family away. the best way to put her demeanor is batman—forever haunted by her mom’s death. it’s only by joining cheerleading in high school does she become happier; she found a support system. where she isn’t reminded of her mom’s death. she spends all her time surrounded by ppl while tala is alone
it’s good that ligaya has that support system. because in universes she doesn’t… lets just say she doesn’t end up being the best (in an au, she becomes a yellow lantern, which is fueled by fear. she uses her own fear to fuel herself and control others in her desperation to keep People Safe. they’re green lanterns worst enemies. but ligaya is tala’s sister no matter what universe she is & when she uses her powers to keep her safe despite being opposite sides on the battlefield… she’s only more convinced of that)
ligaya does care for tala though. when she’s injured, she’ll look after her injuries (despite her complaints). she’ll toss things at her face—but they’ll be tala’s favorite manga. and even after everything that happened… when tala is crying, she’ll sing her favorite song and hold her to remind her little sister she’s not alone

Firm believer in Hurley becoming the guardian being his bad ending
#hi I'm thinking about the Lost ending but can't make an actual post because I'm not finished with my rewatch and my sister follows me#tbh the more i think about it the more i genuinely hate the Lost ending#like it desperately wants us to see Jack as a hero for saving the world possibly but i genuinely can't see anything heroic about it because#of how before doing that he basically ruins Hurley's life#like we have all seen what Jacob is/isn't#and I'm gonna be so fr i don't think Hurley has what it takes to escape the cycle#also the biggest thing with Jack and Hurley there is that it's a consistent pattern#before they got back on the island Jack was basically psychologically torturing him to get him to come back#bear in mind Hurley had been institutionalized for 2 years at that point#fully believe this is why Hurley ended up going back#everyone keeps saying he has a choice but i straight up disagree because both Jack and Jacob are fucking w his mind so much#and in the end Hurley once again doesn't get a choice#it's either become the guardian or risk the world ending#and Jack is going in that cave to die whether he does or not#like it's rotten at the core because Jack and Hurley have a fundamental abusive power dynamic that clouds their entire relationship build on#Jack thinking he's superior because he is a doctor and Hurley is insane#i also think it sucks that a show that used to question destiny ends with Hurley having to follow it because that's what Jack wants#maybe his destiny was to be an artist or start his own restaurant or something#but no Sorry buddy Jack wants you to become god#also Fucked up that in New man in charge Hurley ends up taking Walt back to the island after everything Michael did to get him out#personal headcanon but i think at that point he's starting to change#also Kate is not Jack's fucking soulmate are you fucking serious#dude was severely abusive to her and you're telling me that they're meant to fucking be#Lost#Lost tv#Lost abc#Lost 2004#Hurley#Hugo Reyes

"Death is just an escape" is one recurring thesis in LoH that I love so much. There is no hell for you to go to. This life is all the chance you will ever get to be guilty. There is no atonement in serving literal dirt time in blissful unconsciousness, forever.
